Donna: Hey.

Eric: What is all this?

Donna: Come and sit.

Eric: All right, I'll sit, but you have to sit with me, though.

Donna: Here you go.

Eric: Oh, what a good idea. Uh-huh.

Donna: Strawberry?

Eric: Sure. Mmm.

Donna: (Laughs)

Eric: It's delicious.

Donna: Well...

Eric: What about you? Let's see here.

Donna: I wanted to treat my honey bear.

Eric: Well, you always do. Here you go. Mmm.

Nick: The fact that you were ready to take a drink scares the hell out of me.

Taylor: But I didn't. I didn't drink, Nick. Don't you see? Brooke is the problem here. She came to our house. She--she kidnapped the baby, and--and then she comes over here. She rushes in and--and makes a big deal out of nothing. That is wrong. Brooke is the problem, and you just don't see it.

Nick: Taylor, please.

Taylor: No. Why can't you just at least admit that what she did was wrong? She has an unhealthy attachment to my baby, and it's gotta stop.

Bridget: Jackie? Oh, thank goodness. Is Jack all right? What happened? What's wrong?

Jackie: No, no, no, Jack is fine. He's fine.

Bridget: (Sighs) thank goodness. Well, w-what is it?

Jackie: Nick confided in me, Bridget. I know that Brooke is Jack's biological mother.

Bridget: Oh, Jackie, I-I figured it was just a matter of time before you would find this out. I still feel so responsible, knowing that-- you know, the history between my mom and Nick and my mom and Taylor. There really could not be a more difficult situation for the three of them to be in.

Jackie: Oh, no, it is a very, very complicated situation, but I think that everything happens for a reason. I don't believe in coincidences. I believe that the universe just plays things out as they're meant to be. And the universe, Bridget, has delivered to Nick and Brooke the blessing that they have been waiting for.

Ridge: Hey.

Brooke: Hey.

Ridge: What's wrong?

Brooke: Nothing. It's just been a long day. That's all. (Sighs) it feels good to be in your arms.

Ridge: Well, there's no place I'd rather have you than in my arms. But something is wrong. I know you too well. No secrets between us, remember? What has you so sad?

Brooke: (Sighs) Taylor. I went over there to extend an olive branch and let her know that our lives will always be intertwined because of Jack, but more importantly, to reassure her that Jack is her child, hers and Nick's.

Ridge: That's a good thing.

Brooke: Yes, it is, but she didn't really want to hear it, because she sees me as a threat. So she became belligerent, and things got a little heated, and that's when I could smell the alcohol.

Ridge: No.

Brooke: Yes, Ridge, she poured it into her coffee cup. I panicked. I didn't know what to do. I mean, after everything that happened with Darla, I did what anybody would have done. I grabbed Baby Jack, and I ran and took him over to Nick. And, of course, Taylor showed up right on my heels, and she was adamant that she didn't have a sip of alcohol. But she accused me of kidnapping little Jack, and she verbally attacked me.

Ridge: (Sighs) I can't believe that Taylor would go anywhere near alcohol.

Nick: Taylor, this is not about Brooke. It's about you and me and our son, our family. And, you, more than anyone, know that alcohol isn't the answer.

Taylor: I know. I-I do know that. I never should have poured the drink. I am mortified that I even considered it. I am. But I-I am taking full responsibility. I know that alcohol is not the answer for me. I know that. (Voice breaking) but, sweetheart, it doesn't make my pain any less bearable. (Sobbing) I'm dying here, okay? I need you. I need you to--to love me and to support me more than ever right now. I need you to defend me. I need you to protect me, not Brooke.

Eric: All right, come closer.

Donna: (Laughs) oh, Eric.

Eric: Hmm?

Donna: When I'm with you like this, if we could just always be together, you know, in our own little world...

Eric: Love isn't really like that, is it? You believe in us? You believe in what we have together?

Donna: (Laughs) of course, I believe in us.

Eric: Good.

Donna: I mean, how could you be so forgiving of-- after you found me with--with another man?

Eric: Yeah, well, now... that has to stop. I mean, the idea that you're gonna go around trying to sabotage our relationship, you're just hurting yourself, Donna, as much as you're hurting me.

Bridget: Jackie, do you hear yourself? Nick is married to Taylor. Mom's getting married to Ridge any day now. It-- Jack is Nick and Taylor's son. It's an error that Brooke ended up being the biological mother. It--the blessing is in the miracle of this child's birth.

Jackie: Taylor is a wonderful woman. She's been a Godsend to my son. I will always be grateful to her for that. But Brooke is Nick's real passion, and you know that better than anybody. You made the ultimate sacrifice. You walked away from your marriage to Nick, because you knew in your heart that they were meant to be together.

Bridget: I don't believe that anymore. That was under very different circumstances. Nick and Taylor actually have a child together. Jackie, I... my decision to let Nick go was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make.

Jackie: But it was the right one. No one should underestimate the connection between Nick and Brooke, especially Ridge.

Ridge: Logan, I know you went to Taylor out of concern, but she is not your responsibility. It's not your place to tell her how to care for her child.

Brooke: (Sighs) Oh, Ridge.

Ridge: I warned you. I saw it coming a mile away. Getting involved with Nick and Taylor and their child was only gonna lead to disaster, and that's exactly what happened, Logan. Come on. You've got to back off now. You've got to let Nick and Taylor handle their issues together, alone, and not just for their sakes, for our sakes, too.

Brooke: I love you, and I can't wait to become your wife and to have the family that we've always wanted with you and me and hope and R.J. that's what I dream about.

Ridge: But...

Brooke: (Sighs) but it-- it's just not as cut and dry as all that. I mean, yes, we have our son, and he is wonderful. I couldn't ask for anything more, but now there's this other child involved, and, Ridge, I-I can't just pretend he doesn't exist.

Ridge: (Sighs)

Nick: Taylor, try and understand that I want to help you. I want to defend you, but pouring a drink around our newborn child has crossed the line. And I have done everything in my power to deal with your issues as sensitively and as patiently as possible, but I'm reaching a breaking point here. I don't know how to make you feel or believe that Jack is our son. Nothing I say or do seems to reassure you, and I'm beginning to think that this whole situation might be more than we can handle. It's no way to live. I love you too much.

Taylor: Nick, what are you saying? I mean...

Nick: (Sighs) I feel like I'm losing you. I feel like you're losing yourself, and I don't know how to stop it. I know you don't want to live this way. (Sighs) if having Jack is too much for you to handle, I'm gonna ask you to try and admit that and face it.

Taylor: What do you want me to say? That I'll just walk away from Jack? Do you want me to tell you that your life and Jack's life would be better without me in it? Is that what you want me to say? And if I say that, does that mean you're going to go running straight back to Brooke and fight Ridge to get her back? (Voice breaking) is that why you want me to say that? Do you want me to leave?

Brooke: Ridge, all I'm saying is that I can't turn my back on someone that is in harm's way, especially Baby Jack.

Ridge: I understand exactly what you're saying, but I know Taylor, and I don't believe she'd ever do anything to jeopardize her own child's well-being.

Brooke: How can you be so sure? All it takes is her having one drink and then making a bad judgment call, and then someone might get hurt, or worse, like Darla, end up dead.

Ridge: Okay, now you're being overly dramatic. Come on, Brooke, you took her child from her home.

Brooke: Ridge, I didn't kidnap Baby Jack! I just got him out of harm's way. Really, what if she took that drink? What if something happened? Maybe I saved a life today, Ridge, my son's life.

Jack: (Cooing)

Bridget: (Laughs) you're ridiculous, Jackie. I can't believe I'm having this conversation. Nick and Brooke's connection is in the past. He's committed to Taylor and his family.

Jackie: Taylor is having a difficult time accepting this situation, all right? I mean, it's emotionally distressing her. It--it's not good for her, and it's certainly not good for my grandson, and we know the reason that this is hard for her is because of your mother. Everything I'm saying, Bridget, about the connection between Nick and Brooke, Taylor knows deep down inside is true. They are soul mates, and there's nothing, absolutely nothing, that anyone can do that will destroy that.

Taylor: Is that what you want? Do you want me to go away so you can pick up your life with Brooke? I mean it. I want you to search your heart and your soul right now before you answer me with that.

Taylor: I am asking you, do you want to end our marriage, take Jack and go back to Brooke?

Taylor: Right here and now, I need an answer. Is that what you want?

Eric: What is it? What's up with the tears? What's going on here?

Donna: I'm just-- I'm just afraid.

Eric: Afraid of what?

Donna: I can't just keep-- go on hurting you like this.

Eric: No. No, you can't. And I'm not minimizing your problem. I'm not. But this compulsion of yours, this addiction, it's just-- it's--it's like drugs, and there are therapies. There are therapies for this, and we're gonna find out what they are. And together, we're gonna go, and we're gonna take care of it together.

Donna: You know, I... I didn't know there was a man like you on this planet.

Eric: There's not.

Donna: (Laughs)

Eric: I'm the only one.

Donna: (Laughing)

Eric: You have shown me how to live again, and it's wonderful, and there's nobody and nothing that's ever gonna take that away from me.

Jackie: (Sighs) Your daddy-- he's a man of such integrity. And because of that, he's with the wrong woman. I promise you, my little one, I promise you that I'm not going to rest until your daddy is with your real mommy.

Ridge: Brooke, he is not your child. He's Taylor's child. Yes, it's your egg, but that's it. He's no more your child than a child you'd see in the playground or in the park playing somewhere. You have to look at it like that.

Brooke: How can you say that? Jack isn't just any other child. He came from me. We're connected. Ridge, the way he smells, the way he looks at me, he knows he's a part of me, and I'm drawn to him, too.

Ridge: Brooke, that child cannot be a part of our lives. We're so close to everything we've ever wanted, Brooke. Don't throw that away. Don't let Nick and Taylor's child come between us now. You have to forget about him. Let the baby go.

Taylor: (Sobbing) Please, just answer me. Do you want to end our marriage and take Jack and go back to Brooke?

Nick: Taylor... (sighs) what happened in that lab has turned our lives upside down. It's been hard for all of us, but obviously, it's affected you the most. And I have been patient about your feelings, and I have been supportive and sensitive, and I have tried to let you know that Jack is our son, not Brooke's. But the more I try to reassure you, your past insecurities about Brooke just seem to resurface, and they snowball, and they get in your way of your love for this boy, this beautiful child. You gave him life. He thinks only of you as his mother. (Sighs) He knows your voice and your smell and your touch. But this rivalry that you have with Brooke gets in the way of your love for him, and that can't happen.

Nick: I will continue to love you, and I will continue to work on this marriage, if you can love this boy. Can you do that? Can you love my son unconditionally? I know you can, but you're the one who has to know it. There's no one in the world I want to be with more than you. But if you can't do it, this marriage is never gonna work. Think of the boy. Think of Jack, this beautiful, wonderful child. Think of his heart and his soul, because it's all his if you can separate that from Brooke...

Taylor: (Sobbing)

Nick: Because they're separate. They're two separate people with two separate souls, but you're the one who has to make that distinction, and I know that you can do it.

Taylor: (Sniffles)

Nick: I know you can, because you've been given a gift here.

Taylor: (Sobs)

Nick: You've been blessed with this boy. Love him. Love the boy, and be that courageous, compassionate woman that I fell in love with. And all of the dreams that we had about this marriage and this family, they'll come true.

Nick: I love you. Will you come back to us?

Taylor: (Sobbing) I love you. I'm here for you. I'm here for you. I'm here for you forever. (Whispers) forever. (Sobs)
