Nick: You're wrong, Mother. Taylor is the woman that I'm in love with. She's my wife. She's the mother of my child.

Jackie: Oh, stop it, Nicky. Brooke is the real mother of your son. That has to mean something to you.

Nick: We have been over this already. Nothing has to change.

Jackie: Well, I'm afraid it does. (Sighs) Look, Taylor-- she's the ideal wife, all right? She--she's loving. She is certainly your intellectual equal, but she is not Brooke. Something magical happened, and I'm not gonna let you walk away from it, all right? From the moment that little boy was born, your fate was sealed. Brooke is the mother of your son, and she's the woman that you're destined to be with. (Door opens)

Brooke: (Breathlessly) Oh, Nick, thank God.

Nick: Brooke, wh-what are you doing here? Why are you here with Jack?

Donna: Eric, look, please, I-I can explain. I--

Jake: Uh, excuse me, Mr. Forrester, what are you doing here?

Eric: This is my hotel room, Jake. What-- Donna, why are you doing that? Why are you doing that?

Jake: Oh, God, I had no idea. Look, um, Mr. Forrester, I'm really sorry, but she's--she-- (sighs) I should never have even come up here.

Eric: Donna... what the--my God!

Donna: Look, I-I never meant for it to go this far.

Eric: Well, h-have you-- have you no self-control at all?

Donna: Look, one thing led to another. I couldn't stop it. I have a problem. I am so sorry. But--but this is how it is with me, Eric, you know? I... (sighs) I thought I had control of my desires, but I... I never know when or where the sexual demons inside of me are gonna take over.

Eric: Wh-what? Demons? You are definitely not the woman I fell in love with.

Donna: I know. I'm not, and you deserve someone so much classier than I'll ever be.

Eric: How can you do this to me? After everything we've gone through to be together, how can you do this to us?

Brooke: I tried reaching you on your cell phone, and you didn't pick up.

Nick: Well, what is it?

Brooke: Look, don't be upset with me, okay?

Jack: (Crying)

Brooke: I was just concerned about Jack.

Nick: Why? What happened? Hey.

Brooke: It's Taylor. I think that she's been drinking again.

Nick: Drinking? I was just with her this morning. What happened?

Brooke: I went there after I spoke with you. I wanted her to know that our lives are gonna be intertwined because of Jack.

Nick: Brooke, now I asked you to stay away. I told you that.

Brooke: I know. I know. I know, and I'm sorry, but she really needed to know that my peace and happiness was contingent upon her peace and happiness. And she didn't want to hear it. That's when things got a little heated, and that's when I smelled the alcohol.

Jackie: Alcohol?

Nick: Brooke, are you sure?

Taylor: Excuse me. There you are. Mommy was so worried about you. Mm. (Sniffles) Um, Jackie, could you take him...

Jackie: Oh, yes.

Taylor: To the other room for just a minute? Okay, I'll see you in a minute, sweetie.

Jack: (Coos)

Jackie: Come on, baby.

Taylor: You had no right. Who the hell do you think you are? That is my baby. Do you understand? My baby.

Eric: What was Jake doing here?

Donna: (Sniffles) Well, you know, this sort of thing is kind of hard to explain. Um, I, uh, saw him in the hotel lobby, and we started talking, and there was just this, um, instant chemistry. That's how it starts. And then I invited him up here, and, uh, well, one thing led to another--

Eric: No. No, that's enough. I don't want to hear any more. Well, this doesn't work for me, not one bit.

Donna: Look, I told you, I have issues.

Eric: Yeah, I know you did. Why--wh-- why am I not enough for you, Donna? I mean, you are so much more than I-- for me than--than I even imagined, Donna. It is because I'm older than you, isn't it?

Donna: No. No, it's not your age. That's not the problem. I have issues with commitment, being monogamous. I--the thought of-- of spending the rest of my life with one person, I... I thought I told you this is H... this is how it is with me.

Eric: Yeah, yeah, you did tell me that, but I told you something in big bear, and--and I meant it. I told you that whatever problems there were, that you and i would work through them together.

Donna: We can't. I have a problem, and it's very serious. Look, I-I'm done disappointing you, and--and I have made a decision, and--and you are just gonna have to live with it. Good-bye, Eric. (Voice cracking) You know, I really wish things could have turned out a different way, but... I hope you believe me when I say I will always love you. But this is how it has to be.

Eric: No. No. No, wait. Look at me. You're not going anywhere. You're not gonna leave. You're not gonna leave until you hear what I have to say.

Nick: Taylor, don't do this.

Taylor: How dare you? Jack is my son. Don't you ever do something like that again.

Nick: She wants what's best for Jack.

Taylor: She wants what's best? By--by kidnapping him out of our home?

Nick: The boy wasn't kidnapped. He's fine. I think the real question is here, were you drinking?

Taylor: Oh, is that what you had to rush over here and--and tell them? Is that what you did?

Nick: I think she has a reason to be concerned. Answer the question. Did you drink?

Taylor: (Sighs) I poured a little bit into my coffee, and I didn't drink it. That's all I did. I just poured it. I didn't-- I didn't even take a sip, all right? I was a little tempted, but I controlled myself, and I didn't drink it. I didn't drink it. I was able to stop myself.

Nick: What if you couldn't? How can you even think of drinking with Jack in the house?

Taylor: Because of her. L-look at what she just did to me. (Sobbing) it's her. Everything wrong in my life is because of her. .

Eric: Go sit. Sit down. Sit down. Look, I'm not gonna let you-- I'm not gonna let you run away from me. I'm the only person in the world who is never gonna turn his back on you. And whatever it is that you're going through, whatever it is, you and i will get through it together.

Donna: No. No. No, it's my problem. Only I can fix it.

Eric: You can't fix it by running away. You think it's just gonna disappear? And you...

Donna: (Sighs) Look, I'm just so ashamed that you have to be a part of this.

Eric: Yeah. Well, I an a part of it, okay? I'm not very happy to be a part of it, but I am. You know, in spite of the fact that I'm a world-famous fashion designer, you know, and, uh, provocative glamour is sort of the order of the day, I'm a pretty old-fashioned person, you know. And a sexual relationship to me means an intimate relationship between only two people.

Donna: Well, I-I guess that's just not what I want.

Eric: What you guess? You guess it's not what you want?

Donna: Look, you deserve to be loved by someone so much better than me. I'm sorry. I-I'm just-- I am caught up in something, and--and I just don't know how to get myself out, okay?

Eric: No, wait. Wait, Donna. Well, just wait. Wait. Stop. Look at me. I think I know what you're doing here.

Donna: You do?

Eric: You deliberately were trying to sabotage our relationship here.

Donna: Uh, it--it's not m-my decision to make.

Eric: Yes, it is. It is, and--and--and you're using this sexual confusion of yours to--to undermine our relationship, and I just-- but I just don't know why.

Donna: Look, Eric, it has reached a point that it--it's-- it's beyond my control, okay? My hands are tied. I wish it could be some other way, but I-I'm sorry.

Eric: No. No, wait. Now listen to me now. I am older than you, and one of the benefits of being older than you means that I'm wiser than you are. And one of the things that I know, one of the things that I've learned in my life is that when somebody loves somebody as much as I love you, there is nothing. There is nothing for which they cannot be forgiven. There's nothing you can do or say that I would not forgive you for, and that's my pledge to you.

Donna: (Sobbing) How can you be so forgiving?

Eric: Because I love you.

Donna: (Sobbing)

Donna: I love you, too, and so much.

Eric: Okay.

Donna: (Sobbing)

Eric: Okay.

Donna: (Sobs)

Jackie: There you go, sweetheart. Oh, Bridget. Hi. It's Jackie. Oh, no, no, I'm fine. I'm-- well, actually, no, everything isn't fine. There's a problem, and I was hoping that you could help me find a solution. I'm at Spectra. Oh, you would? Oh, thank you, Bridget. And, Bridget, please hurry.

Jackie: Oh, my poor little grandson. My heart is breaking for you, do you know that? You should be with your mommy. You should be with your real mommy. Every child deserves to be with their mother. That is so unfair. Just because of a mistake with an egg at a stupid laboratory. That is unfair.

Jackie: It's unfair to you. It's unfair to your daddy. You know, you don't know how much your daddy loves your real mommy, but you're going to find out. Because you need to be a family. You deserve that. You deserve that happiness, and I'm trying with all my might, I promise you, and I am praying with all my heart for that to happen.

Nick: Don't do that, Taylor. Do not blame Brooke for what's happened.

Taylor: What are you talking about?

Nick: I don't want you to pin what happened in this fertility lab--which was a mistake-- on her. It's affected all of our lives.

Taylor: Then why is it that I'm the only one who seems to be having a problem with it?

Brooke: Taylor, this has been an emotional time for all of us.

Taylor: Would you butt out? Why are you hanging around here? Would you please ask her to leave?

Nick: I think you should thank her.

Taylor: How can you even say that?

Nick: Because I would hate to think about what would have happened if she wasn't there.

Taylor: Nothing happened. I didn't do anything.

Nick: Honey, you're an alcoholic. You know what drinking does to you. Do you really want to bring that type of destructive behavior into our house?

Taylor: No, no, of course not.

Nick: Well, then there are no excuses here.

Taylor: I know, I know, I know. What I did was stupid. It was stupid, it was wrong, and I was just looking for a way to make the pain go away, and I shouldn't have done that, but I didn't even take a drink-- not one. You've got to believe me.

Nick: But you were thinking about drinking while you were alone in the house with Jack.

Taylor: He's fine.

Nick: He is now. What if she wasn't there? She wasn't stealing the boy. She was stepping in and doing what she thought was right. She was protecting the child.

Taylor: So now you're taking her side?

Nick: That's not what I'm doing at all.

Taylor: No, I can see what she's already done. She's been brainwashing you. She's been planting seeds that I'm some kind of malicious mother.

Brooke: That's not true.

Taylor: This is such a damn nightmare.

Brooke: I was just worried about Jack, that's all.

Nick: She did the right thing.

Taylor: Oh, stop it! I don't want to hear any more of this. God! Brooke did not have a right to walk in and take my baby out of the house, and you're standing there and then you're defending her? I can't believe it. I'm your wife. How could you do that to me?

(Rock music playing)

Donna: (Thinking) Oh, what a wonderful man you are, Eric Forrester. How can I ever let you go? My family is counting on me. Ending my relationship with you is the only way Stephanie will save my brother from going to jail. Oh, Eric, what am I going to do?

Taylor: She has every right to do what she did? Is that really the way you feel? She just walks in my house and she takes the baby away? I'm the mother. She can just do that? Is that okay with you?

Brooke: I was just trying to get Jack out of harm's way.

Taylor: Would you listen to yourself? Why would I ever do anything to hurt my own baby? Why would I ever put him in danger?

Nick: Nobody's saying that, honey, but if you're drinking--

Taylor: But how many times do I have to tell you this I wasn't drinking. I didn't drink anything. I mean, if I'm a little emotional right now, it's because of her. It's always because of her. You are the only threat to the baby, because you want to tear up this family. That's exactly what it is. You are the problem, and now you won't even help me. You won't even stand by me. You just--

Nick: I'm standing by Jack, is what I'm doing, because the thought of you drinking in that house with that boy scares the hell out of me, and it should scare the hell out of you, too.

Taylor: It does scare me. You know what? This isn't the way my life was supposed to be. I wanted--just a family-- you, me and the baby to all be in one happy family. That's all I wanted, but then she ruined it. She killed my dream!

Taylor: And now I guess you're not gonna stand there for me, so I'll just find a way to deal with it on my own.

Brooke: I can help you, Taylor.

Taylor: You have got to be kidding me. You know what the reality is here? I'm not the one that needs to get control of my emotions. You need to get control of yours. Whatever feelings you have for my baby, you need to put a stop to it, and I want you to stay away from my family, and I want you to stay away from my son. You're the one that needs to get a grip on reality, not me. You just stay away from my family, and everything will be just fine.
