Storm: Well, here it is. It's official. Judge Adams has formally dismissed the case, all charges dropped. Dad is a free man.

Donna: (Giggles)

Brooke: Yes! (Giggles)

Storm: (Clapping)

Stephen: All right, I-I-I want to say something. This incident has shown me how my past actions have affected all of you and especially you, Storm. When I think I put you in the position to be a father to these girls when you were merely a child yourself, I'm ashamed.

Donna: Daddy, don't.

Stephen: No, no, no, honey, I-I want to say this, and I want you all to hear, Katie, Brooke. Now I can't go back and solve all the problems that I created, but I can sure as hell take sole responsibility for them. And I can promise you that from this moment forward, I'm gonna do everything I can to make it right with you, because I'm so proud. I'm proud of the courage and the strength that you've all shown during this. And we're a family. We're a loving family, and we can heal. And I want to start. I want to take Storm with me when I leave. I want to take him out of the country and make sure that he gets all the care that he deserves.

Storm: Yeah, I, uh... (sighs) I can't believe this is happening. (Laughs) I never thought I'd be saying this, but I'm actually grateful to Stephanie Forrester for letting this go. I'd, uh, I'd really like to thank her for this.

Brooke: Stormy, just leave it alone.

Storm: No, but for what she's done for our family after what I did to her, you know, although she did owe you a favor, Brooke, she didn't owe the rest of us anything. And she did this without asking for anything in return.

Stephen: Son, some things are best left alone. Let's just take this time to heal.

Katie: I agree. And let's not talk about Stephanie anymore.

Stephen: Yeah.

(Cell phone rings)

Donna: Oh. Sounds like me.

(Rings) (Rings)

Donna: Oh, I'm just gonna take this outside.

(Rings) (Rings)

Donna: Hello, Stephanie.

Stephanie: Did you end it?

Donna: Not just yet. It's not that easy.

Stephanie: You didn't spend the night with him at the cabin?

Donna: No, Stephanie, I didn't spend the night with him. But it's not because Eric didn't want to.

Stephanie: Believe me, Donna, I will have your brother in prison so fast his head will spin if you don't hold up your end of the bargain. Now you end it with my husband.

(Knock on door)

Stephanie: Bridget.

Bridget: Hi.

Stephanie: C-come in.

Bridget: Thanks. Um--oh, are you taking a trip?

Stephanie: Uh, Pam called. My mother is ill, and so I'm--I'm going to Chicago right away.

Bridget: Oh, my goodness. I'm so sorry to hear about Ann. But Stephanie, what--what about you? Are you okay to be traveling this soon?

Stephanie: Oh, well, I'm-- look, I'm a little stiff and achy, but, honey, I had no choice. Pam was insistent that I come up today.

Bridget: Oh, I don't like this. You can't stop physical therapy right now. It's critical at this stage in recovery.

Stephanie: Well, I'm--

Bridget: No, there's no excuse, Stephanie. I think I-I'm gonna contact Northwestern Memorial and have them call you and set up an appointment.

Bridget: Well, thank you, Bridget. That's very sweet.

Bridget: Of course.

Stephanie: You--you heard about your grandfather?

Bridget: Yeah, that's why I'm here. Um, you told the police that he didn't sh-shoot you. But you were so certain that my grandfather did. What could possibly have changed your mind?

Nick: Morning, beautiful. Did you hear the news? Stephen Logan has been released from custody. All the charges have been dropped against him. So Brooke and the entire Logan family must be pretty excited. I guess the question is if he didn't shoot Stephanie, who did?

Taylor: Well, I'm sure we'll all find out soon enough. But more importantly, why is it the first thing that comes out of your mouth in the morning the name Brooke Logan? Like I care! Gah! You know how that name makes me feel.

Nick: I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean anything by it. It's all over the news.

Taylor: I know, I know. Whatever. It's just that, you know, I'm sick of this Brooke this, Brooke that. I'm really, really tired of it, and I can't even look at the baby anymore without seeing Brooke staring back at me. Damn it.

(Door opens)

Jackie: Hello. Oh, there you are. You won't believe what I found. Oh, it is the most darling, darling little sweater.

Nick: Mother, next time you come by, you think you might want to knock?

Jackie: Is everything all right? Taylor, you don't look well.

Taylor: No, I'm fine. I'm okay. I just have a little too much on my plate. That's all. Sometimes the therapist needs a therapist.

Jackie: (Laughs) well, I think I'll just pop upstairs and gawk at my darling grandson.

Nick: (Exhales deeply) listen, what do you say the two of us go over to insomnia and grab a muffin and a cup of coffee? We got mom here to watch Jack. What do you say?

Taylor: No. I don't really feel like it, sweetie, I don't. I'm not up to it right now. I have--I have a file I have to work on.

Nick: Okay. All right. Just thought we may do something together, you know, something that's a little spontaneous, different.

Taylor: No, I'm--I'm okay. You--you go work on your, uh, cup of Joe, and I'll sit here, I'll work on the file. I'll be good... (sniffles) okay? It's good. I'll see you later. (Sighs)

Bridget: So Stephanie, please answer me. What would make you change your mind about my grandfather.

Stephanie: Well, you know, it's so hard to explain. Um, I guess it was, uh-- I guess it must have been a memory in my head that I didn't even know I had. It's kind of these little flashes, um, and I-- it's like a photograph that I can't quite make out, but enough to understand or at least to realize it was not your grandfather who shot me.

Bridget: Thank you.

Stephanie: You're welcome.

Bridget: You're telling me you can't identify a face, but you're absolutely certain now it's not my grandfather?

Stephanie: Uh-huh.

Bridget: Someone must have set him up. Wow.

Stephanie: I-I guess so.

Bridget: You know, I've heard about this, um, type of spontaneous recall after traumatic events.

Stephanie: Mmm.

Bridget: It's actually quite common. And in many cases, the memory fully recovers.

Stephanie: Oh, really? (Chuckles) that's interesting. Well, maybe it will.

Stephanie: But can Stephanie Forrester be trusted to go through with this? That's the question. It's not enough to get Storm out of the country. You can't hide from something like this.

Donna: Daddy, I'm gonna end things with Eric. I just--I just have to be a little more firm. You know, if it keeps our brother out of jail, then--then I'll find a way.

Stephen: Oh, sweetheart, I'm so proud of you. You are an incredible woman. I don't want you to ever forget that. I-I can't imagine the man who deserves your love.

Donna: Daddy, please, just don't say that. (Crying) this is the hardest thing I have ever attempted to do. I love him so much.

Stephen: I know you do, honey. And what you're doing inspires me. It makes me want to do everything I can for the good of the family. And what I truly, truly want to do is find your mother, spend some time with her. Maybe this can be a new beginning for us. I've been searching my whole life for what I have right here right now with you. And I've always had it. I just couldn't see it.

Brooke: We all see it now, dad. And we know this is going to be very difficult on you, but we're here... (exhales deeply) if you need some help. You can do this.

Donna: (Sobbing) okay.

Katie: You got dad out of jail. Now we have to save Stormy.

Donna: (Sniffling)

Brooke: It's going to be your sacrifice. It's gonna be very difficult. We know that.

Donna: (Sobbing)

Storm: All right, the bags are outside, car's coming up the driveway. You ready to go, dad?

Donna: (Sniffling)

Stephen: I'm as ready as I'll ever be, I guess.

Storm: Ohh, come here. Hey, don't cry, Donna, okay? Hey, it's not like we're going away forever. Dad and I will work out a few issues, and then we'll be back. We'll be a family again, okay?

Stephen: Hey, wait a minute. We're a family right now.

Brooke: (Sighs)

Stephen: We're the Logans.

Katie: (Giggles)

Brooke: (Giggles) that's right.

Stephen: And we're stronger than we've ever been.

{Donna remembering}

Donna: (Sniffling)

Eric: I'm not gonna have you talking about yourself like that.

Donna: But--but it's true, Eric. I-I mean, how can you be with me knowing that I'll be with other men?

Eric: No, I can't. I-I can't. You're right about that. I wouldn't be able to tolerate that. But I'm not gonna leave you, not ever. And we'll get through this. We'll get help. We will go to sexual addiction counseling, and we'll go together. Okay?

Donna: (Sobbing)

Donna: (Sighs)

(Doorbell rings)

Donna: Stephanie.

Stephanie: I understand that your father and your brother are on their way to Europe. Now look, there's no place that your brother can hide that I won't find him if you renege on our arrangement.

Donna: I'm not reneging on our deal, Stephanie. I tried to break up with him last night. Eric wouldn't hear of it.

Stephanie: (Laughs) I can't imagine that your powers of persuasion are so limited.

Donna: Look, I really tried, Stephanie. He's in love with me. He won't just give me up.

Stephanie: Well, he better give you up. What exactly did you tell him?

Donna: You know what? It's--it's none of your business. I told him I have a problem.

Stephanie: What kind of a problem?

Donna: An addiction.

Stephanie: Really?

Donna: A sexual addiction, okay?

Stephanie: (Laughs)

Stephanie: Is it the truth?

Donna: Very funny, Stephanie. The truth is it didn't matter to Eric. He said we could work through anything together.

Stephanie: (Sighs)

Jackie: Da-da-da-da-da. Hi. Are you feeling better?

Taylor: Oh, yeah, as a matter of fact, I am.

Jackie: That's good.

Taylor: Sometimes the best therapy is just to get out of your own head.

Jackie: Well, Jack's asleep. Why don't you go and join Nicky for that cup of Joe, as he likes to call it.

Taylor: I think that might be a good idea. Okay. I'll give that a try. I'll just, uh, go put on some fresh clothes.

Jackie: Okay.

Brooke: Well... (sighs) I guess our fates really are intertwined. I can't avoid running into you.

Nick: This is a pleasant surprise.

Brooke: Yes, it is.

Nick: I guess congratulations are in order. I heard about your father.

Brooke: Mmm. Yeah, I never thought I'd say this, but I really think Stephanie came through for us.

Nick: Oh, that's frightening to hear. What's in it for her?

Brooke: (Sighs) it's been a difficult time for all of us, but you know what? I am really hopeful. I have great feelings about the future of the Logan family.

Nick: (Laughs)

Brooke: (Giggles)

Nick: That's good. Would you care to sit down and have a cup of coffee and celebrate these feelings?

Brooke: Sure.

Nick: What would you like?

Brooke: Uh, a soy latte. Thank you.

Nick: Soy latte over here, please.

Woman: Sure.

Nick: Thank you.

Brooke: Ohh. Thanks.

Nick: Yeah.

Brooke: So... (laughs) now that you heard all about me, what's going on with you? How you doing?

Nick: Taylor's been a little weird.

Brooke: What's wrong?

Nick: You. She can't get over the fact that your Jack's birth mother.

Brooke: Oh, my God. We've been over this and over this.

Nick: I know.

Brooke: You know, if--if I talk to her, maybe she'll calm down.

Nick: No, no, Brooke, trust me, the best thing for you to do right now is to just stay away. You're the target of her anger. She just seems to feel you everywhere in her life right now. She even said that she thinks you and Bridget conspired somehow to use your egg for her pregnancy.

Brooke: Oh, my God.

Nick: She's a strong woman. She'll get past this. I just suggest that you stay away from us for a while.

Brooke: Is she alone with Jack?

Nick: She's his mother. What kind of question is that?

Brooke: I don't know, Nick, but we have to consider her state of mind. We have to be careful.

Nick: (Sighs heavily) this is all new to me. I'm learning as I go.

Brooke: I worry about you. You're married to a woman who can't connect with her son. And you don't talk to anybody. Will you talk to me?

Donna: Eric will never believe that I don't love him.

Stephanie: Well, it's your job to convince him of that.

Donna: How?

Stephanie: I don't know how, Donna, and you know, frankly, I don't give a damn how you do it. I want my husband back. I have to go to Chicago, and when I return, it better be finished between the two of you, or your brother will spend the next ten years in prison. Do you understand?

Nick: Thank you. How I'm holding up really doesn't matter here. I will do what I've always done in my life whenever I face a crisis.

Brooke: Well, it matters to me. You shouldn't have to shoulder this alone. Does Jackie know that I'm the biological mother of your son?

Nick: No.

Brooke: Well, then you should tell her. She might be able to help.

Nick: (Sighs heavily) Well, maybe you're right. I have a son. I love him so much, and I want Taylor to love him just the way that I do. But when I see her struggling like this, Brooke, when I see her behavior, I-I don't know what to do. You should hear some of the things she says about--about Jack, about you. I want to do something. I want to fix it. I want to make it right, but I don't know how.

Brooke: You shouldn't have to bear this on your own.

Nick: (Sighs) I love her. I do love her. I want her to love my son the same way that I do.

Brooke: I really hate to say this, but I think Taylor's going to need some professional help.

Brooke: You never know what she could do. I mean, she might do something terrible. She might snap. And if she does, really, Nick, there is no telling what might happen.

Nick: Well, if anything would make her snap, it'd be seeing the two of us like this. I mean, as much as it feels good to talk to you like this, the truth is, you know, we really--we really can't. Believe me, if she were to see it, it would be ugly, very ugly.
