Brooke: I've been trying to reach you all day, all last night. Did you agree to Stephanie's terms, or didn't you?
Donna: It wasn't a negotiation, Brooke. It was blackmail. Give up Eric, or send Storm to jail. What kind of choice is that?
Brooke: Don't tell me you said no. Donna!
Donna: You know, I swore I was not gonna let her manipulate me. I was gonna stand up to her.
Brooke: (Sighs)
Donna: But I couldn't. I caved. What kind of choice did I have?
Brooke: Thank you.
Donna: (Sobbing) don't. Just--
Brooke: Honey, Storm and Dad have made peace. Now if Stephanie lets this go, we can be a family again. It's been so long.
Donna: As long as Storm doesn't find out, because if he did, he would not let me do this. He would rather confess.
Brooke: Which is why he can't know. You can't let our brother go to prison for this.
Katie: You don't seem surprised to see me.
Stephanie: Well, I'm not, and I bet I know why you're here.
Katie: I doubt that.
Stephanie: (Laughs) well, you're a Logan, so I can only assume that you're here to either berate me or ask me for something.
Katie: Actually, I'm here to thank you.
Stephanie: Oh.
Katie: I hear you've offered my family a deal.
Stephanie: You've talked to Donna?
Katie: Brooke. So you're really gonna let my brother get away with shooting you?
Stephanie: I offered to do your family a good turn. I was hoping that Donna would do the same for me.
Katie: Right, by walking away from Eric. I'm assuming she turned you down?
Stephanie: You think she's going to choose my husband over her brother going to prison?
Katie: Well, we haven't heard from her since last night. I thought maybe she was too embarrassed to come home.
Stephanie: Well, even she couldn't let her own brother go to prison.
Eric: Everything looks and smells perfect.
Woman: Dinner's in the oven. You should warm up dessert for about ten minutes before it's served.
Eric: Okay. Good. Thank you. Oh, it's perfect. Donna's gonna love it.
Woman: Anything else?
Eric: Oh, oh, oh, yes, this. Uh, don't forget now. You remember what you have to do?
Mm-hmm.
Eric: Good.
Woman: Ms. Logan is a very lucky woman.
Eric: I want this to be a night that neither one of us ever forgets.
Brooke: You did the right thing, Donna.
Donna: Right for Storm, right for our family... maybe. What about Eric?
Brooke: (Sighs heavily) You can't tell Eric why you're breaking it off.
Donna: I can't tell Storm. I can't tell Eric. That's what happens when Stephanie gets control of your life. She corrupts everything you care about.
Brooke: Just give her what she wants. She'll leave us alone.
Donna: What about Eric? It's only a matter of time before she uses the children to reel him back in.
Brooke: He says that you've changed him, so maybe it'll be different this time.
Donna: It's never different with Stephanie. Look at me. I was determined to stand up to her. And now I'm giving up the man I love so our brother doesn't go to jail.
Brooke: We can't let Stormy go to jail at all costs. You have to give up Eric. I'm sorry, sis, but it's the only way.
Donna: (Crying) I have waited so long to be happy...
Brooke: (Sighs)
Donna: To make this connection.
Brooke: Honey, there will be another man. Don't worry, okay?
Donna: (Sniffling) (sobbing) not like Eric.
Brooke: Ohh.
Donna: (Sobbing)
Katie: You know, Donna's waited an awfully long time for her knight in shining armor.
Stephanie: Too bad she chose the wrong knight. He just happens to be married to me.
Katie: Yeah, maybe she should have waited until he wasn't married to you.
Stephanie: (Laughs) as though I never expected to hear one of you girls say something like that.
Katie: I warned her not to get involved with a married man. I was afraid she might get hurt.
Stephanie: It's too bad she didn't listen to you.
Katie: You might want to listen to me now. Your actions toward my family have been reprehensible, and you haven't changed at all.
Stephanie: No, you're wrong. I have. I'm not the same woman that used to interfere in the relationship between Ridge and Brooke.
Katie: Right, you've moved up in the world. You're now using our family crisis to come between Donna and Eric.
Stephanie: Ohh, well, forgive me if I see it from a slightly different vantage point. He is my husband, and I would like him back. I'd like to spend the rest of my days with the man that I love, with my children, my grandchildren, you know, my family.
Storm: Hey, sis. So what's going on? Has Dad been released yet?
Brooke: Uh, not yet, but he will be.
Storm: You're sure?
Brooke: I'm expecting to hear something really soon.
Storm: I mean, I don't know, Brooke. This whole thing about Stephanie changing her mind-- first she doesn't want your forgiveness. Now she does. I don't know, something doesn't feel right about it.
Brooke: (Scoffs) well, I don't feel great about forgiving her either, but if it's the only way to free Dad and to keep you out of jail--
Storm: Yeah, but Brooke, Stephanie doesn't do anything without expecting something in return.
Brooke: She just wants peace in her family, just like we all do.
Storm: Hmm. Still, I think I'd feel better if I, uh, spoke to her myself.
Brooke: No. (Sighs) no, don't do that.
Eric: Mm-hmm.
(Car door closes)
Eric: Oh, she's here. All right.
Donna: Eric.
Eric: (Laughs) I thought you'd never get here.
Donna: (Laughs)
Eric: Gruezi, mademoiselle. Here you are.
Donna: Oh, what's this?
Eric: Well, you cannot begin an alpine adventure without a nice hot steaming cup of mulled wine.
Donna: (Sighs)
Eric: Okay, let's take this off. Ooh-ooh, it's cold out there, huh?
Donna: Don't tell me... (giggles) you got schnitzel and noodles?
Eric: (Laughs) no. I have your favorite meal, though, from Café Russe.
Donna: You didn't have to do all this.
Eric: Oh, it's just the tip-- just the tip of the Matterhorn, my dear. Come on. Come on. Just the tip of the Matterhorn.
Donna: You--you got me a present?
Eric: I made you a present.
Donna: Oh, look, um, when you asked me to come up here, I-I, uh, wasn't expecting this. You know, I--
Eric: Good.
Donna: (Giggles)
Eric: (Chuckles)
Donna: I thought we could talk. We need to talk.
Eric: Okay. But we'll talk over dinner, all right? Now here, would you open this?
Donna: (Laughs) well, no, look, it's just that the wine...
Eric: Come on.
Donna: The--the-- the everything-- it's just, um, it's all just too perfect.
Eric: Good. I was hoping you'd say that. I insist that you open this. Sit down here. Sit down. Open it.
Donna: Okay. (Laughs)
Eric: (Laughs) come on.
Donna: Look, Eric, I just, um, I wasn't expecting, you know, all of this. And, uh... (laughs nervously) I can't get this.
Eric: I'll get it. Open up. Hurry up. It's just a box. Here.
Donna: Oh, my God. Oh, my God, it's gorgeous.
Eric: (Laughs) the rest of your winter, uh, wardrobe is all hanging in the bedroom closet.
Donna: Winter wardrobe?
Eric: Yes. Oh, the instructions are in the pocket there, in the right pocket-- the instructions. Right there.
Donna: Ohh.
Eric: Yep.
Donna: It's lift tickets and--and snowboarding lessons for two.
Eric: Yeah. Snowboarding.
Donna: (Laughs)
Eric: You do make me want to try things that I've never done before. And--and if I'm not as good with snowboarding as I am on two skis, then that's the way it is. And all my cuts and bruises will be assuaged as I slip into a nice hot tub with you. Nothing can hurt me as long as I can be with the woman I love.
Donna: (Laughs)
Eric: (Chuckles) oh, sweetie.
Donna: (Crying)
Katie: You're blackmailing my family.
Stephanie: Wait a minute. Your sister came to me and asked me to help your family.
Katie: It's only altruism if you don't expect anything in return.
Stephanie: Oh, I see. And would you rather have had your father and your brother fend for themselves with the district attorney and the police? Listen, Katie, I let you into my home, and I've listened to everything you had to say. But the truth is I'm the one that came up with the solution to this whole mess.
Katie: Changing tactics is not the kind of change I was talking about.
Stephanie: You think being shot hasn't changed me, hasn't made me reevaluate my--my priorities, my values?
Katie: I'm sorry for what my brother did to you.
Stephanie: You do know he needs help?
Katie: He'll get it.
Stephanie: Thanks to me.
Katie: No. Thanks to Donna.
Stephanie: If she keeps her end of the bargain. Look, I am prepared to go to the police, make a statement that will release your father. And the truth is your-- your--your--your brother's name won't even come into this mess.
Katie: Okay.
Stephanie: Okay? I'm giving your family a fresh start here. Why can't all of you embrace that and be happy and joyful about it? Just leave my family alone, all right?
Storm: I can talk to Stephanie?
Brooke: No, it's not necessary. Everything's under control.
Storm: Really? Because right now you look a little worried.
Brooke: We don't want to antagonize her.
Storm: I knew it. I knew it. She's waffling.
Brooke: No. No, she's made a deal. She's gonna go to the police and tell them that Dad didn't do it.
Storm: Okay, but that's not it. There's something else. I know you too well.
Brooke: No, it's n-nothing for you to worry about.
Storm: When Stephanie left here last night and you wanted to talk to Donna alone, you were acting a little strange, kind of like you're acting right now.
Brooke: (Sighs heavily) okay. Donna and Eric have hit a rough patch.
Storm: Well, that's understandable. Eric thinks Dad shot Stephanie.
Brooke: Right. And she can't tell him what really happened.
Storm: Oh. If he gets the feeling she's holding something back... (sighs) well, that'd be a shame. She really loves the guy.
Brooke: Yeah.
Eric: I'm not sure I should be involved in any sport where you have to wear a helmet, you know?
Donna: Ohh, look, Eric, as--as much as I appreciate this, and I-I-I do-- I mean, I love it. I-I-I love you.
Eric: Good.
(Car engine starting)
Donna: But-- oh, my God. What in the world? Someone's stealing my car! What the--
Eric: Donna, Donna.
Donna: Hey, hey!
Eric: Donna, it's okay. It's okay. They're not stealing your car. They're just moving it. They're moving it, uh, they're moving it into the garage next to your new SUV. It's a hybrid.
Donna: Oh.
Eric: It's all tricked out, too, for bicycles and--and--and kayaks and--and snowboards and anything we might need for our next adventure.
Donna: I-I don't know what to say. Uh, thank you. (Laughs) but we--we're not gonna have time for all this.
Eric: I'll, uh, I'll make-- I'll make time.
Donna: But you've got your family, your work...
Eric: I know. And my work is very, very fulfilling to me. Sit. Sit. But it's not everything in my life, not anymore. My God, my--my work used to be my--my sanctuary. I used to hole up in my office and just hide from everybody so I could be in control, I could give the orders. But I ne-I-I don't need to escape to my office anymore. You are my escape.
Donna: (Giggles)
Eric: (Laughs) now wait. Look, I know I said that, uh... I know I said that I wanted us to elope and run away and get married and have it very, very private, but I've changed my mind. I want our wedding to be a celebration. I want it to be the biggest, most extravagant...
Donna: Oh.
Eric: The celebration that anyone has ever seen-- as big as the emotion that you inspire in me, the--as big as the changes that you've brought to my life.
Donna: (Crying) oh, oh, no, no, no. Eric, please. You--you--you already proposed.
Eric: Yeah, yeah, well, I know, I know, but, um, every proposal is different, and it needs to be absolutely perfect. And it's like-- it's like a piece of haute couture. It--it needs to have exactly the right accessory. Here.
Donna: Oh, my God. (Gasping) (laughs)
Eric: (Laughs)
Donna: Oh. (Sniffling)
Eric: So here. Here.
Donna: (Breathing heavily) No, don't. (Crying) please don't.
Storm: Oh, this is my fault. I should fix it.
Brooke: You can't, Stormy, not this time. This time your family's gonna take care of you. We're not gonna let you go to prison. But you do need to get some therapy. It's really important, Stormy. I mean, what you did was the act of a deeply disturbed person-- shooting Stephanie and framing Dad for it.
Storm: (Sighs) o away. It has to be dealt with.
Storm: It will be. I'll deal with it. I will. (Sighs)
Brooke: And we will help you.
Storm: Oh. Thank you. Oh, I'm so grateful to have you and my family and Dad, our sisters. I don't know what I'd do without you. And I really believe you'd--you'd do anything for me.
Brooke: Yes, we would.
Katie: Believe me, Stephanie, I want you out of our lives just as badly as you want us out of yours.
Stephanie: Well, let's just hope it's a matter of time then. Believe me, I'm waiting on pins and needles to hear either from Eric or your sister.
Katie: Don't you think it's a little odd that you haven't heard anything yet?
Stephanie: I don't know. I mean, all I know is that they're up at the cabin at big bear.
Katie: You know, even if she does break things off with him, there's no guarantee that Eric will come back to you.
Stephanie: He will.
Katie: And you're okay with that? You're okay taking a man back who's in love with another woman?
Stephanie: Eric and I have been through this many times before.
Katie: What if you're reading this situation completely wrong? What if he really is Donna's knight in shining armor and he decides to help her? What if she tells him everything? You know, if he finds out that you've been blackmailing her, you could lose him forever.
Stephanie: I don't believe your sister's going to do that, because she does understand the consequences. Your brother will to go prison, period.
Donna: (Sighs) get up, please. Please.
Eric: Wh-wh-what? What--what is it?
Donna: I-I-I-I can't. You--you--you can't.
Eric: Well, wh--what is it? Is it--is it, uh-- it's too ostentatious, is that it?
Donna: No. No, it's beautiful.
Eric: But it's--but it's too expensive, and--and you're worried what people are gonna think, especially Stephanie. Well, I don't care. I don't care what she thinks or anybody else.
Donna: (Breathing heavily)
Eric: I bought this ring for you, because you deserve it, you know? You--you deserve it. It's--it's expensive, yes, but what you've given me is, like, priceless. Donna, look at me. Look at me. Look at me.
Donna: (Sobbing)
Eric: I love you. I love you, and I want the world to know it.
Donna: (Sobbing)
Eric: And I want you to-- I want you to be able to wear this ring with pride. I want--want you to-- your face to light up when you--when you see it...
Donna: (Crying)
Eric: The way my face lights up every time I think of you. And I want you to look at this ring, and I want it to be the biggest, the hugest reminder...
Donna: (Giggles)
Eric: That you're the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.
Donna: (Crying)
Eric: Donna, here.
Donna: (Sobbing)
Donna: (Sniffling) (Giggles)
Eric: Come here. Come here.
Donna: (Sighs)
Eric: Mmm.
Donna: (Exhales deeply)
Stephanie: You know what you have to do. You're the only one hat can save your brother. So end it. (Echoing) end it. End it.
Donna: (Sniffling) no, no.
Eric: Donna, what is it? What? What is it?
Donna: (Crying) I'm okay. I'm okay.
Eric: No, you're not. You're not okay. Something's wrong.
Donna: (Sobbing)
Eric: You need to tell me what it is, Donna. Something's wrong, and I want to know what it is right now.
Donna: (Sobbing)
