Nick: The last thing in the world that I would ever want to do is disappoint you.
[Nick sighs] I swore I would never would. I vowed before a man of the cloth only a few days ago that I would never fail you, and I meant it. I meant every word of it. Because I love you, Brooke. And I believe in you and me. All I can really ask is that you try to find some sort of understanding about what I'm about to tell you, as painful as it may be.
Donna: Is something the matter, Stephanie? You look like you've been sucking on a lemon.
Stephanie: Have you seen these photos?
Donna: Brio's latest. I thought you liked her work.
Stephanie: I do. I do like her photos. I just don't like what's happening in them.
Donna: And what exactly is happening in them?
Stephanie: When your sister -- well, let's just put it this way, your sister did some wild things when she did layouts for Brooke's bedroom line, but this -- this is just cheapening the company's reputation.
Donna: Yeah, well, our sales show different. I'm making your family tons of money.
Stephanie: Sometimes, there are more important things than that.
Donna: Yeah, like what? Class, integrity, dignity? Your favorite buzzwords?
Stephanie: Not a bad philosophy to live by.
Donna: I have nothing to apologize for. I've lived a good life.
Stephanie: And you're intent on having an even better life, aren't you, with Ridge?
Donna: So that's what this is about.
Stephanie: You can jiggle, wiggle and toss your hair all around, you're not gonna be part of my family, I promise you that.
Bridget: I'm not that naive, Felicia. Of course, I know my mother's gonna feel horribly betrayed.
Felicia: Yeah, by both her husband and her daughter.
Bridget: It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. I still have to believe for the sake of my child that nick and my mother can work through this. I have to believe that she'll be able to forgive me.
Felicia: And what if she can't? What then? Can you even imagine your life without your mother in it?
Brooke: Nick, where are you going with all of this?
Nick: I'm -- I'm asking for your understanding. Because from our wedding day to right now, I believe that I've giving you mine, or I've tried to. Even when you wound up in bed with Forrester, because I believe that man violated you. And that gnaws at my gut every day, and it always will. But you forgave him, and you asked me not to let it ruin us. So I sucked it up. And that's what I did. Even though there were kisses on the runway, naked ads of you, attempts by Forrester to win you back, all for public consumption, and all to humiliate me.
Brooke: I know, and I told you how sorry I am --
Nick: I know that. I know you said that, and I know you are. But that's not why I bring this up. I want to make a point here. I just want to show you how much that we've weathered and how much, I believe, stronger we are. Because we are strong, Brooke.
Brooke: Strong enough for what? Is there something that you've done that would threaten our marriage?
Donna: Ridge might have something to say about that. When we were in Europe, he asked me to help him find a house, and well, I had several for him to look at, miles away from prying eyes.
Stephanie: See now, this is what I would have expected from you. He's in a very venerable place, and you are trying to take advantage of him.
Donna: Your son's a grown man, who appreciates what I have to offer.
Stephanie: We all know what that is.
Donna: Do you have something against sex, Stephanie?
Stephanie: Not at all. So you are sleeping with him?
Donna: No, it hasn't gone that far.
Stephanie: Donna, you're the wrong woman for him.
Donna: Have someone else in mind, do you?
Stephanie: Yes, your sister.
Donna: You actually hope their marriage falls apart, that she'll rush back to Ridge and save him from me?
Stephanie: I want my son to be happy. He misses Brooke. He misses her, he misses their child, he wants to be a family with her.
Donna: Yeah, well, if you would've appreciated my sister a long time ago, things would be different. But now, she's found happiness with Nick. And I don't see anything changing that, ever.
Bridget: I wish you wouldn't say that. I can't go there right now, Felicia.
Felicia: Sorry, fair enough. You're right. But have you thought about what will happen if your mother forgives you, but not Nick?
Bridget: But she really loves Nick.
Felicia: Yeah, she does, for a lot of very complicated reasons, and one not so complicated reason. Look, Ridge hurt her so many times, she can't even count. But the straight-talking sea captain was all about never doing that.
Bridget: Yeah, but that's because he thought his marriage was over.
Felicia: Actually, it probably is. Which is a tragedy, because marriages are supposed to last forever. This one, I'm not sure it ever stood a fighting chance, with your mother never over Ridge, and you not over Nick. Now's your chance to come clean, Bridget. Admit you're as much in love with Nick as you've ever been. You have to be, or you wouldn't have slept with him.
Bridget: What are you getting at?
Felicia: I don't know. Maybe once the pain subsides, it will be an opportunity for all four of you. A new beginning for Ridge and Brooke, and for you and Nick. Children have a way of working miracles. I should know. But you have to really want him.
Bridget: No, I don't. I don't. I don't want him if he's still in love with my mother, and he is, because he's doing everything that he possibly can to try and make her understand. Oh, I just pray to god that she can.
Nick: I'm not gonna make any excuses here, Brooke. The truth is from day one of our marriage, I felt as though I have shared you with another man. And I told myself, just be patient and love her, and one day, she'll let go of Forrester. But then, you saw him on television with your sister, and you left our bedroom and you went to that man, and you wound up in his arms kissing him.
Brooke: Nick, you know how much I regret that. It was a terrible lapse in judgment. But I never wanted to hurt you.
Nick: Well, I never wanted to hurt you either. But I'm about to hurt you now. That night, something happened, Brooke. I had a lapse in judgment, too.
Brooke: You said that you came back here to the Marlin, that you were drinking. You took off your ring --
Nick: You never let me finish. You just wanted me to forgive you. All right, now I need some forgiveness, too.
Brooke: Just tell me you went out to a strip club with Chuck and Corky, and you just let loose for a few hours. And then you came back here, and you had to sleep it off. Just tell me that. Tell me that there was nothing more to it, Nick! Tell me that you did not bring a woman back here with you. Damn it, Nick! Just tell me it's not what I'm thinking!
Nick: It's not what you're thinking. It's worse.
Felicia: That was a nice speech, little sister, but I'd say that's guilt talking.
Bridget: Maybe it is. I have an awful lot to feel guilty about.
Felicia: Maybe, but I don't think Nick would have ever ended up back in your arms if your mother hadn't driven him to it. I'm serious. Maybe this was meant to be. And once everything is out in the open --
[Phone rings]
Bridget: Hello?
Dr. Caspary: Bridget, hi. I took a chance that you'd still be at the hospital.
Bridget: Dr. Caspary, um, is something wrong?
Dr. Caspary: I'd just like to drop by your office. There's something I need to discuss with you.
Bridget: Is it about the baby?
Dr. Caspary: It's not anything that's alarming. Would now be a good time?
Bridget: Yeah, but I just --
Dr. Caspary: I'll be right there.
Felicia: Honey, what was that about?
Bridget: I don't know.
Felicia: The baby, everything's okay?
Bridget: Of course. Of course. I'm just gonna go meet, um, her in her office. Do you mind?
Felicia: Oh, say no more. Bridget, wanting to raise your child with its father doesn't make you a bad person. It just makes you human.
Brooke: Worse? How could it possibly be worse?
Nick: I know I've let you down.
Brooke: Let me down? I believed you, Nick. I believed that you wouldn't hurt me, that you wouldn't lie to me, you wouldn't betrayal me. And now, you're standing there in front of me, telling me that --
Nick: I'm telling you that I screwed up in the worst possible way. No matter how hurt or angry I was, there's no excuse. I should not have
Brooke: Just stop it. Stop! I don't want to hear the sordid details.
Nick: But you do need to know why it happened.
Brooke: I know why it happened. Because of Ridge. It's always about Ridge with you. My past with Ridge, the feelings that I've had for Ridge, which I've been completely honest with you about. Can you just never believe me? You never believed how much I really loved you and how much I wanted to be with you. You never fully trusted me.
Nick: I never trusted him. I asked you over and over again to stay away from him, but you couldn't.
Brooke: So that makes it okay to go and sleep with somebody else? What, you were trying to get me back for doing that to you?
Nick: I'm not getting you back! I love you! I did something stupid and wrong, and I hate myself for hurting you! There's something else you need to know.
Brooke: Please don't tell me it was something stupid, like you didn't use protection, and you got some kind of disease.
Nick: The woman -- the woman I was with, she's --
Brooke: She's -- she's pregnant? The woman that you were with is pregnant, with your child?
Bridget: Hi. I couldn't wait. I know you said it wasn't terribly urgent, but I just got worried.
Dr. Caspary: I understand. Please, come in.
Bridget: Is that my file?
Dr. Caspary: I was making a few notations when I realized something.
Bridget: Oh, what?
Dr. Caspary: You indicated that your last period was in late August.
Bridget: Yeah, as best as I can remember. I stopped keeping track after --
Dr. Caspary: After what?
Bridget: Well, back in July, I was with my ex-boyfriend, Dante, and I thought I was pregnant, so I took a home pregnancy test, but it came out negative. That's one of the reasons that we aren't together right now.
Dr. Caspary: Dante wanted a baby with you?
Bridget: Yeah. Why is this important, Dr. Caspary?
Dr. Caspary: The reason I wanted to speak with you, your hcg levels are significantly higher than a woman who is only a few weeks pregnant.
Bridget: What?
Dr. Caspary: You can see. The levels confirm that you're closer to nine weeks pregnant.
Bridget: But that's -- that's absolutely not possible. And I definitely got my period toward --
Dr. Caspary: Or what you thought was your period, which might have been light spotting instead.
Bridget: I took a home pregnancy test, and it definitely came out negative.
Dr. Caspary: Which can happen if the test was administered early or --
Bridget: Wait, wait. Please stop. Are you telling me that this child could be Dante's?
Dr. Caspary: Bridget, you're a doctor. You know as well as I do what those levels indicate --
Bridget: I know, but I also know that tests can be wrong.
Dr. Caspary: Yes, but -- look, we'll schedule an ultrasound in the morning. That way, we'll know for sure.
Bridget: No, no, no. It can't be in the morning. Nick is telling my mother right now. If this child is not his -- please, Dr. Caspary, please, we have to do this ultrasound tonight. Please.
Nick: Brooke --
Brooke: Don't -- don't. I can't even look at you. My god, how could you do this to me? How could you do this to us, Nick? I have had so many scandals in my life, and I thought that they were all behind me, because of you, because of who you are -- were. An honest, decent human being.
Nick: I'm sorry. I made a mistake.
Brooke: No, what you made was a baby. You thought you could just have a one-night stand because your wife ran off to her ex again? Is that what you said to yourself? Is that how you justified it in your mind so you can have this cheap one-night stand? Well, now -- now, there is a child, Nick -- a child! Just take me home.
Nick: Brooke, please --
Brooke: No, just start this damn boat! Take me home!
Nick: The woman I was with wasn't a stranger.
Brooke: What?
Nick: I didn't pick somebody up at a bar. She came by the boat that night.
Brooke: You knew her? Was it somebody that I know?
Nick: It's somebody you know. It's someone I've been involved with.
Brooke: Well, the only person besides me would be Bridget. And you certainly can't be talking about that, right? Nick, tell me it is not my daughter. This woman that you had sex with and you made a baby with, that is not Bridget. Tell me. Tell me it was not. Oh, god, no. It's not Bridget. No, no, no! No!
