Phoebe: Did you call Steffy and Thomas?
Taylor: This morning.
Phoebe: Did you tell them?
Taylor: I told them that I love them.
Phoebe: So you're really going to do it then? You're going to tell Thorne?
Taylor: Thorne deserves to know the truth.
Phoebe: Mom, I can't stand the thought of you going to jail. Is that what's going to happen to you?
Taylor: Even if I do, we'll still see each other.
Phoebe: Mommy -- maybe there's still a chance, maybe you don't have to go to jail --
Taylor: Listen, sweetheart, no, I have to face the consequences of my actions. That's what I want you to learn from this. You can't run away from your mistakes. You have to face them no matter how scary they might be.
Phoebe: Are you scared?
Taylor: I'm scared for you. And Thomas and your sister. You know, this is going to be a very difficult time for our family. And I want the three of you to stick together.
Phoebe: But what if they don't understand, Mom? What if they're really angry at you?
Taylor: Look, I'm sure a lot of people are going to be very angry at me. And you're going to want to defend me. But I want you to listen to me. I don't want you to let anything come between your father and your brother and your sister. Okay? Not even me. I love you, Phoebe. I love you so much.
[Doorbell rings]
Phoebe: I love you, too.
Taylor: Ridge, thank you for coming over.
Ridge: Hey, you said it was important.
Taylor: It is. Ridge, I have something to tell you.
Stephanie: Alexandria, that's very good. Are you having a great time at art camp?
Alexandria: Ms. Hoffman says I'm the best drawer.
Stephanie: Oh, I have no doubt from this picture. You are the best drawer. You think we should frame it?
Thorne: Yes, you can do it out of construction paper. Why don't you go get some out of your craft drawer, honey?
Alexandria: Okay, daddy.
Thorne: All right. There you go. She seems to be doing okay, huh?
Stephanie: I think she's fine. You're the one I'm worried about.
Thorne: I know, mother. I'm angry all the time. I go to bed angry, I wake up angry. You know, I try not to let Alexandria see it, 'cause I know it's going to effect her, and obviously I don't want that.
Stephanie: Is there anything I can do for you?
Thorne: I want answers, Mother. I want to know why my wife died.
Stephanie: I spoke to Lt. Baker yesterday.
Thorne: Yeah? Every time I speak to him, all he says is that he's just working on it.
Hector: Lt. Baker, I guess you've solved Darla's case?
Lt. Baker: No.
Hector: Well, you still can't be working on it if you're running around town asking questions about me and Taylor.
Lt. Baker: I can stop doing that if you gave me some straight answers.
Hector: I got nothing to hide.
Lt. Baker: Well, then maybe you won't mind telling me why you were at the women's penitentiary with Taylor and her daughter.
Hector: What's it to you?
Lt. Baker: Don't you think it looks suspicious? The three of you visiting an inmate convicted of vehicular manslaughter, just weeks after Darla was rundown on PCH?
Hector: Well, you know, Taylor's in recovery for alcohol dependence, phoebe just started to drive, so I thought it would be beneficial for both to see what could happen to people who drink and drive.
Lt. Baker: I think you're lying to me.
Hector: You're fishing, lieutenant. If you have a question, then just ask me. But don't waste my time playing games.
Lt. Baker: You're very protective of Taylor and her daughter.
Hector: We're close.
Lt. Baker: Are you aware of Taylor's DUI?
Hector: Yeah.
Lt. Baker: Does Phoebe know about it?
Hector: Yeah.
Lt. Baker: So her mother has a suspended license. Her aunt may have been killed by a drunken driver, but still you thought that she needed to visit Diane Walker to teach her a lesson?
Hector: Yes, I did. And that's all I have to say on the subject. So unless you want to arrest me for something, or have some real evidence to discuss, I've got work to do. And so do you.
Lt. Baker: Well, my job might just get a lot easier. Especially if Darla's killer comes forward. You see, as a cop, you can't always count on strong leads or good evidence. But you can always count on guilt. For some people, it's unbearable. Know what I mean?
Taylor: I wanted to talk to you about this before, but I've -- I've had a lot going on.
Ridge: I know it's been a difficult time for you.
Taylor: Yeah, I've had a lot to deal with. But the one thing I've never had to worry about is how strong this family can be when there's a crisis.
Phoebe: You never will have to. Right, Dad?
Ridge: Yeah, we've always agreed that whatever's going on with us, we won't let it effect the kids.
Taylor: You're a wonderful father, and I know the kids can always depend on you. They can come to you for advice, they can reach out to you when they're feeling scared. They can come to you when they're feeling confused. I know you'll always take good care of them.
Ridge: As you've taken good care of them.
Taylor: But if I couldn't, I know you would.
Ridge: Yeah, of course. Taylor, what's this all about? Does this have anything to do with your drinking?
Taylor: My drinking -- and a lot of other mistakes I've made.
Ridge: Okay, but you're working to correct them, right?
Taylor: I'm taking responsibility for it. I can't take away the pain that I've caused, but I can try to make things right.
Ridge: What can I do to help?
Taylor: Just keep being a good father. Just keep doing that for the kids.
Ridge: I will. I will. I give you my word.
Taylor: Thanks. Thanks.
Stephanie: The lieutenant does have some leads.
Thorne: What are they?
Stephanie: Well, they found a car in Mexico that matched phoebe's description. Only it had been completed destroyed, it was burnt all up.
Thorne: Yeah, to destroy the evidence.
Stephanie: Well, maybe, I mean, there's no way of identifying the driver, though.
Thorne: What's the other lead?
Stephanie: They found a car in Nevada. Same color, California plates, and apparently it was driven by an ex-convict.
Thorne: Stolen?
Stephanie: I think so, but the fellow's not talking.
Thorne: Well, then we have to go out there and make him talk, mother. Or we have to get baker to bring him back to LA --
Stephanie: Honey, listen -- look, Lt. Baker has a heavy caseload. You can't expect him to focus on just this one situation. You've got to be patient.
Thorne: Mother, I don't care how flimsy these leads are, okay? He's got to tell me -- tell me. I need to know everything.
Taylor: I want to tell him. I want to tell Thorne what I did.
[Doorbell ringing] Who is it?
Hector: It's Hector. We have to talk. Open the door. Baker saw us at the prison. He thinks you did it, Taylor. He thinks you killed Darla.
Taylor: He's a good detective.
Hector: Well, he doesn't have any proof.
Taylor: He doesn't need any.
Hector: That's what he said.
Taylor: He's right. I'm going to Thorne's right now. I'm going to tell him I'm the one that ran his wife down.
Stephanie: I can see that it doesn't matter what I tell you or say to you. It's not going to make a difference. Now, you've got to take care of your daughter. You've got to focus on her. You've got to get your life in order. And you have to stop obsessing about this investigation.
Thorne: I shouldn't wonder who killed my wife?
Stephanie: You've got to get on with your life. And the truth is, you may -- you may or may never know who killed her.
Thorne: Do you think they'll catch him?
Stephanie: They may not. So what does that mean? That your life is going to be frozen in this moment from now on?
Thorne: No.
Stephanie: No. No. You will get through this. You will. You just -- you just need some help.
Thorne: I should be able to get through this on my own.
Stephanie: Honey, when does anybody ever get through something like this all on their own? At some point, you always need someone or something. It doesn't make you weak to ask for help.
Thorne: You know, the truth is, I haven't had to. Ever since I lost Darla, Taylor and phoebe have been here.
Stephanie: And I'm here for you, too. For as long as you need. I won't let you down, Thorne. I won't make the same mistake I did with Taylor.
Taylor: I made a mistake, Hector. And I need to answer for it. It's the only way I can live with myself.
Hector: In prison?
Taylor: Maybe.
Hector: No, you will be locked away for the next ten years in a cage.
Taylor: Well, at least Thorne will be free from his.
Hector: But he will never forgive you.
Taylor: How could I even forgive myself? How can I do that if I allow myself to continue this lie?
Hector: You didn't lie, I did. I mislead the police.
Taylor: I'll take full responsibility, okay? And then you can move on with your life.
Hector: You think that's why I'm here? Because I want to get away with it?
Taylor: No, I know you want to help people. I know that that's what you want to do, and I respect that.
Hector: But you don't respect me? You can't if you believe that I'm thinking about myself right now. I'm thinking about you, Taylor. I'm thinking about you being separated from your children, being ostracized by people who have no right to judge you.
Taylor: I'm sorry. I'm sorry if I misread your concern for me. I'm sorry if I made you feel disrespected. I'm really sorry, though, that I've even brought you into this. Now, I've made up my mind. I'm telling Thorne, and it is not open for discussion.
Hector: Well, you shouldn't drive. So, I'll take you.
Taylor: You'll take me to Thorne's?
Hector: Yeah. You would have been honest from the beginning if it wasn't for me, so -- it's the least I can do.
Taylor: Thank you. Okay, I'm ready.
Hector: I'm sorry, Taylor. But I can't let you do this.
Taylor: It's the right thing to do. But it's going to be so hard on everyone. Thorne's going to be devastated. He'll question the sincerity of everything I've been doing for he and Alexandria. He's definitely going to be angry. But at least he'll have some place to direct it to. Then get it out and move on with his life. Hector, you just missed the turnoff. Hector?
Hector: You're not going to Thorne's. And you're not going to tell him what you did. Not now, not ever.
Thorne: We all could have handled Taylor's situation differently. It wasn't just you.
Stephanie: No, but I really let her down.
Thorne: Well, like you said, you won't let that happen again. I should go check on Alexandria. She's been hunting for that construction paper for awhile.
Stephanie: You can't be serious. Taylor is a suspect in your mind?
Lt. Baker: Think about it.
Stephanie: I don't have to think about it. My God, this would be almost laughable if it weren't so tragic.
Lt. Baker: Accidents happen, Mrs. Forrester.
Stephanie: Oh, you're out of your mind. No, this is absolutely impossible. Taylor couldn't do something like this and then not -- not own up to it.
Taylor: I don't know what you're doing. You can't keep me from talking to Thorne.
Hector: I can. And I will.
Taylor: By what, holding me hostage here in your house? This is insane.
Hector: No, confessing to a crime that wasn't even a crime, that's insane.
Taylor: Darla is dead. I did it and I'm responsible.
Hector: It was an accident, Taylor. You don't belong in jail!
Taylor: Oh, my God! We've had this conversation.
Hector: And we're going to keep having this conversation until you come to your senses.
Taylor: Well, I'm not changing my mind, so you might as well move out of my way and let me leave.
Hector: No. Look, I know this seems crazy, bringing you here. But I'm just trying to protect you.
Taylor: From myself?
Hector: And from your misplaced guilt. Taylor, you can't let it control you. I can help you fight this. You just have to trust me.
Taylor: I would like to trust you, but you're making that really difficult.
Hector: Well, just listen to what I have to say. Please, one more time. I know I can make you understand, if you just -- if you just hear me out. Okay? Please? This place is a mess. I'm gonna get a chair, okay? I'm doing this because I love you, Taylor. I hope you know that. I just can't see you throw your life away. Taylor! No!
Taylor: Stop it!
Hector: What you are doing? They will throw us in jail! Don't you understand that?
Taylor: Stop it!
Hector: Now, I am sorry --
Taylor: Let go of me!
Hector: You have given me no choice.
Taylor: Stop it, Hector! Quit it! Ow! God, you're hurting me! Let go!
Hector: I'm just trying to help you.
Taylor: What are you doing?
Hector: I am just trying -- can't you see that?
Taylor: What are you doing, Hector? Stop it!
Hector: Listen to me.
Taylor: Stop it!
Hector: You gotta listen to what I'm saying. Because if you don't, it's our life. Do you understand that?
Taylor: Let go of me, Hector!
Hector: It would be our life! You said you were going to listen to me.
Taylor: You said I could trust you.
Hector: You can. But you have to hear what I say first!
Taylor: Untie this thing!
Hector: No, no!
Taylor: I'm going to Thorne.
Hector: No, you're not.
Taylor: Do you hear me!
Hector: You're not!
Taylor: I'm going to Thorne and I'm telling him everything! Let me go, damn it! Let me go!
Hector: No. No.
