Taylor: I'm sorry. It's my fault. It's my fault. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Thorne. I'm the one to blame for everything.

Hector: Taylor Hayes Forrester -- a DUI? Are you sure? No, that's all I need for now. Listen, keep this between us, okay? Thanks.

Stephanie: Hi, honey. What's up? What? Oh, I'm on my way. Sally, there's been an accident.  It's Darla. She's at the University Hospital. You call Clarke and I'll pick the two of you up.

Sally: Yeah, yeah, sure. I'll be ready.

[Phoebe remembering]

[Phoebe screams]

Phoebe: Darla. Darla! Darla, can you hear me? Can you hear me?

Taylor: Oh, god. Darla!

Phoebe: She was changing my tire, then she fell into the road --

Thomas: Phoebe --

Phoebe: Thomas, god!

Thomas: Sorry, I didn't mean to -- here.

Phoebe: Thanks.

Thomas: Yeah.

Thorne: You're blaming yourself for what happened tonight. Which is the last thing you should be doing, Taylor.

Taylor: No, you don't understand.

Thorne: I understand that you feel guilty because you didn't get there before Darla. But the only person who is at fault here is that sick bastard who hit my wife and left her for dead. That's the person to blame, okay? Not you. Please tell me you have good news.

Christian: I've reviewed Darla's latest test results. We should have a more complete picture after I examine her.

Thorne: I don't want to leave her. She needs me. God, how I need her. We all need you, sweetheart -- all of us.

P.A.: Dr. Forrest dial 118, please. Dr. Forrest, please dial 118.

Phoebe: I never should've let her change the tire. We should've just left the car there, gone back to her place and waited for mom to show up. But instead --

Ridge: Lieutenant, I think that's enough for now.

Hector: I agree. You know, lieutenant, Phoebe -- she's been through so much.

Lt. Baker: I realize that. And I empathize. But I've got a job to do.

P.A.: Dr. Kravitz, you have a visitor in the main lobby. Dr. Kravitz, a visitor in the main lobby.

Thorne: Hey.

Stephanie: Hi, sweetheart. Tell me -- tell me what happened.

Thorne: I was coming home after dropping Alexandria off at Sally's. And I saw these paramedics, and I pulled over to see if I could help. And I saw phoebe, I saw Taylor -- mom, I saw my beautiful wife crumbled in a heap. Some son of a bitch plowed her over and left her --

Sally: Where is she?

Thorne: Christian just finished examining her. There's been no change.

Clarke: She's still unconscious?

Thorne: Yes, but I have to believe that she knows that we are all here for her.

Stephanie: Honey, she does. Darla knows. It's okay. Sal, you and Clarke go in. I know you're worried. I know you want to see her.

Sally: Yes.

Stephanie: I'll come in in a little bit.

Lt. Baker: I saw you slipping out of Darla's room earlier.

Taylor: Yeah, I was in the chapel praying. Is there any change?

Hector: No, there isn't.

Phoebe: Mom? Mom, are you okay?

Taylor: Are you?

Hector: She will be, as soon as I can get you two home.

Taylor: No, I'm not leaving. I've gotta --

Hector: No, no you don’t. Listen, lieutenant. This woman has been through the ringer. She can't answer any more questions tonight. I'm taking her and her daughter home. Let's go, come on.

Lt. Baker: Ramirez -- you're driving Dr. Hayes and her daughter home, right?

Hector: That's right.

Lt. Baker: Good. It seems the good doctor's had something to drink tonight. Probably not a wise idea for her to be behind the wheel.

Sally: I may not have given birth to you, but you are my daughter in every way that counts. You hear me, Darla? You listen to me, you are not going anywhere. And that's an order!

Taylor: Why are we stopping? I want to go back to the hospital. I want to be with Darla! I need to tell her and Thorne what I did. I'm responsible.

Hector: I want you to listen to me very carefully. Because if you don't, you could be in the worst trouble of your entire life.

Taylor: Darla's the one who's in trouble. And it's because of me.

Hector: If you tell people that, you will go to jail.

Phoebe: Jail?

Hector: I know why you need to admit everything. But you're just gonna make it worse for yourself.

Taylor: I don't care about myself, I don't. I did it. I did it, Hector. I did it, and Darla's the one paying the price!

Hector: And you're wracked with guilt about it, as anyone would be. But as concerned as we all are about Darla, I'm concerned about you. Because I love you, and I want to protect you. You shouldn't have even been driving tonight. Not with a suspended license. I know, Taylor, about your dui.

Phoebe: Dui?

Hector: I'm sorry, I did not want it to come out this way --

Phoebe: Hector, no, there's been some mistake. Mom would never drink and drive. You're wrong.

Taylor: No. No, he's not wrong. It happened a few months back, sweetheart. I got into some trouble, and since it was my first infraction, they just gave me a fine and suspended my license. And I wasn't supposed to be driving anywhere but to and from work.

Hector: Which would be serious enough, driving with a suspended license, but we both know that there's more going on here. And now, so does Lieutenant Baker.

Phoebe: I don't understand. More to what? Mom, what is he talking about?

Taylor: I don't -- I don't want to make excuses, okay? I really don't, because there aren't any excuses for what I did. But your father had come by earlier tonight, before the party --

Phoebe: To pick up Thomas.

Taylor: Mm-hmm. I haven't seen him in a long time. I haven't seen him in a while, and a lot of things were said -- we had some words.

Phoebe: You and dad fought?

Taylor: No -- no, but it was just that some things were said, and it was really upsetting and -- just for a lot of reasons. I had some wine -- I had maybe two, three glasses, I don't know. And I poured the rest down the drain.

Phoebe: So? I've seen you have a glass of wine from time to time. What's the big deal?

Taylor: The big deal is, sweetheart, I have been depending on alcohol more and more as a way of coping with my pain, okay? And I knew it was becoming a problem, but I didn't do anything about it. And that when you called and you were in trouble, I panicked and I just rushed out.

Phoebe: Wait, so because you had a glass of wine, Lieutenant Baker thinks --

Hector: Lieutenant baker smelled alcohol on your mom's breath, Phoebe, at the hospital. Not that I think it raised any red flags, okay? He knows that you were there at the scene of the accident just to pick phoebe up. There's no reason for him to suspect that you were responsible for what happened to Darla.

Phoebe: Because she's not responsible! It was an accident. So why are we even talking about this?

Hector: Because, honey, if your mom goes back to the hospital and starts telling people that she hit Darla --

Taylor: What do you mean "if?" "If?" We are going back to the hospital!

Hector: Then be prepared to go to jail.

Phoebe: No, that's crazy! I saw what happened, I was there. Aunt Darla fell into the road, and there was nothing you could do!

Hector: Phoebe, your mother has a prior DUI arrest. She was driving with a suspended license. And she was drinking. It doesn't matter. She could've had the best legal representation in the world, and she will get jail time.

Phoebe: No! No, I've lost my mom once already, I can't lose you again!

Taylor: It's gonna be okay. Sweetheart, it's gonna be okay.

[Phoebe sobbing]

Sally: You know something? I've got a secret for you, my pretty Einstein. As soon as you're back on your feet, you and me and Bucky, we're gonna get together and we're gonna resurrect the good ship Spectra for one last hurrah. We will. 'Cause you know, I can't do it without you, Darla. Saul, Macy -- they're gone. I can't go through that again. I just can't. This funny ol' ticker of mine just won't take it. So here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna take a little stroll down memory lane, and we're gonna remember all the crazy, wonderful, wonderful times, and all the people you loved and who love you so much. And when we're done, you're gonna open up those beautiful baby blues, honey, and you're gonna give me one of those sweet, silly smiles to let me know that you know that there are lots more good times ahead of us. Will you do that, honey? Will you smile for me?

Singer: Smile though your heart is aching smile even though it's breaking when there are clouds in the sky you'll get by if you smile through your fear and sorrow smile and maybe tomorrow you'll see the sun come shining through for you light up your face with gladness and hide every trace of sadness although a tear may be ever so near that's the time you must keep on trying smile, what's the use in crying? You'll find that life is still worthwhile if you just smile that's the time you must keep on trying smile, what's the use in crying? You'll find that life is still worthwhile if you just smile smile smile
