[Doorbell rings]
Brooke: Our wedding day --
Nick: In just a few hours we'll be married and I will be your ball n' chain for life.
Brooke: I love you, too.
[Brooke remembering]
Ridge: I love you.
Brooke: What did you say? I couldn't hear you.
Ridge: I said, I love you.
Brooke: You did say it? You really did say that?
Ridge: Will you come here. I love you.
Massimo: It's happening as we speak. Yep. They are starting to replace the Marone ad with Brooke's.
Stephanie: And it will be right in Nick's line of vision?
Massimo: There's no way that he can miss it.
Stephanie: Well, I'm at Bridget's right now and what I'm hoping is that I could -- oh, ah, let me call you back.
Bridget: Stephanie? What are you doing here?
Stephanie: Well, your father told me that you got this terrible sunburn. My god, are you alright?
Bridget: Oh, uh, yeah. I'll be fine. Thanks. Uh, I'm just on my way to my mother's wedding. It's important that I'm there on time.
Stephanie: Of course, it's important for you to be there on time. You're the most important person in her life. That's why she is marrying Nick instead of Ridge.
[Bridget sighs]
Bridget: Please, Stephanie. Don't do this now.
Stephanie: Bridget, there is still time to stop this before your mother makes a terrible mistake. But in order to do that, you're going to he to acknowledge what's happening here.
Bridget: But what's happening here is that my mother is finally free to marry Nick.
Stephanie: Because of you. That's what's turned this whole day into such a fiasco. It's just misguided sacrifice on both of your parts.
Bridget: No, you're wrong, Stephanie. You're really wrong this time.
Stephanie: You mean, you can stand there and look me in the eye and say to me there isn't the slightest possibility that your mother isn't really doing this for you? The woman that has hurt you time and time again? I'm not saying -- I'm not saying that she doesn't care for Nick.
Bridget: Stephanie, he loves her. And they want to build a future together. So, for the love of god, can you please stop bringing this to me and just accept that Nick is going to do something for my mother that no other man has been able to do? Including Ridge. He's gonna make her happy and content, and he's gonna love her for the rest of her life.
Stephanie: Just as he promised to do when he married you?
[Cell phone ringing]
Brooke: Hello?
Nick: Hey, what are you doing today?
Brooke: Marrying my handsome ball and chain.
Nick: Oh, nice. Mind if I join?
Brooke: Where are you?
Nick: I'm at the park. I decided to go for a little run, check out our wedding digs.
Brooke: Oh, how does it look?
Nick: Awesome. Just like this hot chick I'm gonna marry.
Brooke: I want today to be perfect. One we'll look back on with lots of happy memories.
Nick: We are going to have a lifetime of happy memories. I'll see you in a bit. Hey, fellas, what are you doing?
Worker #1: Is there a problem, chum?
Nick: Did you look behind you?
Worker #1: Looks like somebody's gettin' "murdered" today. You're the "victim"?
Nick: Yeah, I'm the groom. My name's Nick -- Marone. As in Marone Industries. Now, this is my wedding. I'd like it to be kind of peaceful and perfect, if you know what I mean. So I know you got a job to do. If you could just speed it up, I'd appreciate it.
Worker #2: No problem, Mr. Marone, we'll be out of here in a couple minutes.
Nick: Thanks, boys.
Worker #2: Okay.
Stephanie: I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that.
Bridget: Well, when has saying something hurtful ever stopped you, as long as you get what you want?
Stephanie: Bridget -- when you walked away from your marriage to nick, it's as though you made a gift of it to your mother. She can't say no today, because now she understands how much it's cost you.
Bridget: I don't know what you're talking about.
Stephanie: Because of your sacrifice, she's marrying a man today that she shouldn't. She should be listening and following her heart.
Bridget: She is listening and following her heart.
Stephanie: No, she isn't. Because if she did, she'd be with Ridge. He loves her, he understands her --
Bridget: Well, Nick understands her.
Stephanie: He wants to mold her into something that he wants. Your mother can't live like that.
Bridget: What you're failing to see her is that she is going to marry Nick today, and there is nothing that you or Ridge or anyone else can do about it. Absolutely nothing.
[Doorbell ringing]
Ridge: I fought with myself about coming over here and -- I knew it would upset you, and I didn't want to do that. I've tried, Brooke. I swear, I have tried to do what you asked and just accept your life with Nick. But it's like I'm just watching someone I love drowning, and I can't throw them a life preserver.
Brooke: Ridge, please --
Ridge: I know you have feelings for my brother.
Brooke: But you know my mind better than I do?
Ridge: I know your heart. I know what brings you joy. But to marry a man that expects you to live by his rules, or else?
Brooke: He doesn't expect anything. He knows I'm my own person.
Ridge: Well, yeah, as long as you do something that he approves of. Otherwise he starts issuing strikes.
Brooke: As opposed to you, who walks out on me when something better comes along.
Ridge: It was never a -- never an issue of Taylor being better than you, Brooke. You know, it really seems interesting to me that you bring up my walking out on the very same day that you're supposed to marry Nick. Doesn't that tell you something? You're going with him because you think he's not gonna leave you, the way your father and I did. You're choosing security over love. And you're letting Nick dictate all the terms.
Brooke: No, no, that's not what he's doing.
Ridge: But he is trying to change you. Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your life with a man that's gonna try and turn you into somebody else? Especially when you have a man standing right in front of you who loves you and cherishes you for the person you are? With all of your strengths, insecurities, complexities? I would never think of telling you what to do, or how to feel. I'm sorry, I should probably just give you my blessing and be done with it, but I've got to be honest here, Brooke. And you have to be honest, too. Before it's too late.
Bridget: Hi.
Rick: Bridget, hey. I won't give you a hug. Dante filled me in on the sunburn.
Bridget: Oh, yeah, it's -- it's pretty bad. Thanks for picking him up at the airport.
Dante: It gave your brother and me a chance to get acquainted.
Brooke: Rick!
Rick: Mom, hey!
Brooke: Honey, I'm so glad you could make it.
Rick: Well, I'm glad to be here. Congratulations.
Brooke: Thank you.
Bridget: Rick, you say congratulations to the groom, but you say best wishes to the bride.
Rick: You think I should have known that by now. It's not like it's mom's first time down the aisle, right?
Bridget: Rick!
Rick: I'm -- I'm sorry. I really didn't mean it --
Brooke: No, no, honey, it's okay. I mean, we've been here many times before, right? But this is different. I truly believe this marriage is going to last forever.
Nick: Mother, you can't start crying already.
Jackie: I most certainly can. How can you expect me not to be emotional? I've waited so long for you and Brooke to be married.
Nick: You know I love you to death. You've always been our number one supporter. Unlike someone else we know.
Jackie: Massimo.
Nick: I don't want to talk about the old man.
Jackie: You know, it's so terribly sad to think how hard he tried to keep you and Brooke apart. Come here. But you know what's sadder? That he's not gonna be there to share in your wedding day.
Nick: He crossed a line that shouldn't have been crossed, mother. And that I don't put up with, even from someone I love. Anyway, I got the girl. Despite my old man's support for his number one son. And I'm sure the dressmaker and his mother will do anything they can to stop this wedding. But I'll be ready.
Stephanie: You -- tried to talk her out of going through with the wedding?
Ridge: Maybe I should've used some of my brother's tactics, throwing Brooke over my shoulder like a caveman.
Stephanie: Why didn't you?
Ridge: I can't force her to see what she doesn't want to see, mother. But still, I wish there was something more I could do, short of busting up the wedding.
Stephanie: Well, maybe something will happen.
Ridge: Yeah? Why would nick sabotage his own wedding?
Stephanie: I don't know. You never know how things might work out.
Ridge: What have you done now?
Stephanie: I promised myself if you lived that I'd make everything right for you again. I'm not gonna stop until I do.
Brooke: So, what do you think?
Bridget: Wow.
Brooke: Thank you. So it's not too revealing? I mean, you know nick, he can be so old-fashioned at times. No, you're right. It is me. I mean, I can't be someone I'm not.
Brooke: Honey, I'm glad we have some time alone before things get started here. 'Cause there's something that I need to say to you.
Bridget: Mom, you don't have to say anything. I think I know what it is, and I'm -- I'm fine. It's fine.
Brooke: Well, this can't be easy for you.
Bridget: It's your wedding day. I don't want you worried about me.
Brooke: Of course I worry, because I love you. And if I thought there was something --
Bridget: Mom, please don't do this. You don't need to feel guilty about your happiness with Nick. He and I had our chance, and, you know, we worked really hard on our marriage, we did. It wasn't meant to be. He's with you now.
Brooke: And you should resent me for that. Instead, you made it possible for Nick and me to be together.
Bridget: It's what you both wanted.
Brooke: And what about what you want? Hmm? I mean, after we've been through to get here today -- honey, I just really need to know that you're truly okay with this.
Bridget: I want you to be with him. So you're doing the right thing.
Stephanie: Oh, that's perfect.
Massimo: I thought you'd like it. How's our son doing, by the way?
Stephanie: Well, Ridge thinks he's lost Brooke. But I -- I don't think so. Not after Nick sees that ad.
Jackie: Rick! Oh, thank you for coming.
Rick: I'm glad I could make it.
Dante: Hey.
Rick: Hey, Bridget.
Bridget: Hey.
Jackie: Right. Well, all we need now is the bride and the groom.
[Jackie gasps] Oh, my god. It's Brooke! And she's practically --
Dante: Naked.
Jackie: If my son sees this --
Rick: Well, here he comes now.
Nick: What a day for a wedding, huh? Rick --
Rick: Nick --
Nick: Thanks for flying in like this, it means a lot to me and your mother.
Rick: I -- I can see.
Dante: Oh, Nick, this Walter Bynum. The justice of the peace who'll be officiating.
Nick: Walt, appreciate you doing this on such short notice. What's the matter? It's the outfit, isn't it? Is it the outfit? Is it just too much? Do you think?
[Horse neighs]
Nick: You are so beautiful.
Walter: If you're ready, we'll begin.
Stephanie: He is so involved in the ceremony. I mean, what if he doesn't see the ad?
Massimo: He will. He will.
[Brooke gasps]
Nick: What is that?
