Jackie: Just thinking about this breaks my heart.
Nick: Mother, what is it? What are you talking about?
***************************************************************************************
Thomas: Very Stella McCartney.
Caitlin: Congratulations, Thomas, you successfully scared the living daylights out of me. Happy?
Thomas: Not at all.
Caitlin: What's with you? You look like your best friend just died. Something tells me I need to extract my foot from my mouth.
Thomas: As much as I'd like to see that, it's not necessary. But it has been a hard night. A lady my dad knows was killed in a car accident.
Caitlin: Oh, my gosh. I'm so sorry, Thomas. A friend of the family?
Thomas: Dr. Paxson was my stepmom's doctor.
Caitlin: Wait, Dr. Paxson?
Thomas: You know her?
Caitlin: Well, I just met her this morning at Jackie Marone's house. Wow, what a small world. I -- I can't believe that she's dead.
Thomas: Everyone's in shock, I think. You should've seen the look on my Dad's face when he heard -- if only there were some way I could help him.
Caitlin: You know, I'm sure it helps your Dad just having you around.
Thomas: I don't think that's much consolation when his marriage is being torn apart.
*******************************************************************************************
[ Ridge remembering]
Ridge: We had it all, Brooke. We had it all.
Thomas: Thomas' house, you have landed again.
[ Laughter ] Thank you very much.
Brooke: You owe him a lot.
Thomas: That'll be everything you owe.
Steffy: Whatever.
Thomas: All right, I'm keeping a tab.
Brooke: Your turn, here. Right there.
Thomas: Go, Hope.
Brooke: Go, go. Oh, good girl. Whoa. Oh, goodness. Free parking!
[ Applause ]
Thomas: All right.
Brooke: You're so lucky. Put all your money right there.
Thomas: Hope, you got a lot of money.
Steffy: So lucky, Hope.
Pheobe: Yeah. Your gonna win all of it.
Brooke: Aww, you're so sweet. He plays fair.
Ridge: Until that oneday -- those damn test results ruined everything –
Jackie: It says that you're the father, Nicky.
Steffy: Dad. Dad. Dad, are you awake?
Ridge: Steffy?
Steffy: Brooke was here earlier, wasn't she?
***************************************************************************************************
Nick: Mother, what's going on?
Jackie: Dr. Paxson -- she was killed in an automobile accident, I'm afraid.
Nick: What?
Jackie: She was on her way over to see Brooke --
Nick: Hold it. What do you mean, see Brooke? Why? Is the baby all right?
Jackie: No, no, the baby is fine, darling.
Nick: Oh, thank God.
Jackie: But there's -- there's more to it than that, Nicky --
[ Knock on door ]
Nick: Hold that thought, will you?
Brooke: Have you heard?
Nick: She was just telling me, yeah.
Brooke: I think I'm still in shock. She was on her way to see me -- I just had spoken to her.
Jackie: That's not the only tragedy. You see, you don't know the half of it.
Brooke: Actually, I think I do.
*****************************************************************************************
Steffy: I know this is Brooke's. Why didn't you tell me she was coming?
Ridge: Well, because it was an unexpected visit.
Steffy: She could've at least said hello.
Ridge: Sweetheart, I thought you were asleep. I told her not to disturb you.
Steffy: Phoebe and I were just doing homework.
Ridge: I'm sorry, I apologize. She really didn't stay that long.
Steffy: I can't believe you guys did this.
Ridge: Are you going to look at that yet again? All right, all right, you've had your jollies. Now step away from the picture.
Steffy: I think you should burn the evidence.
Ridge: Yeah, of what?
Steffy: You and Brooke, wearing those silly outfits. It's embarrassing.
Ridge: For your information, miss ma'am, those silly outfits are traditional Mayan garb.
Steffy: As in the Mayan Indians?
Ridge: That would be the very same, yes. We wore them out of respect for that South American region -- as well as the natives of Puerto Vista, where we were married.
Steffy: They don't really dress like that, do they?
Ridge: Sometimes, yeah. For special occasions, yeah.
Steffy: Whoever married you must've had a hard time keeping a straight face.
Ridge: Well, the padre actually was quite touched that we would honor native custom like that. Okay, you, how would you have dressed us?
Steffy: Anything but that.
Ridge: Really? Anything. Personally, I don't think I would have changed one thing. It was the best day of our lives.
******************************************************************************************
Jackie: You know? Have you told Ridge yet?
Brooke: Yes, of course. He's the first person I went to when I found out.
Jackie: Ridge must've found the news very, umm -- well, shocking.
Brooke: Well, that's an understatement. I just don't understand how something so horrific could happen. I talked to Dr. Paxson's nurse, and she said that Dr. Paxson was driving on the freeway, and this big truck slid three lanes across right in front of her. She died instantaneously. I can't help but feel somewhat responsible. I mean, if she hadn't been on her way to see me then maybe none of this would have happened.
Nick: Oh, wait a minute. Now don't think like that. Just -- you can't blame yourself. It was an accident. It's not your fault.
Brooke: I guess I'll just never know what Dr. Paxson wanted to say to me.
Jackie: I may be able to shed some light on that.
***********************************************************************************************
Caitlin: Thanks. Your dad -- he's married to Brooke Logan, right?
Thomas: Soon to be past tense.
Caitlin: I read all about their engagement in "eye on fashion" magazine -- how he proposed to her at the Logan Designs press conference and how they ran off and eloped and then -- well, actually, that's all I know. The media just kinda stopped covering them.
Thomas: You make it sound like such a storybook romance.
Caitlin: It is! Isn't it?
Thomas: Yeah, I guess it was -- until the wicked stepbrother came along and cast his evil spell.
Caitlin: Wait, what are you talking about?
Thomas: Don't mind me. I'm just angry at the situation. Dad and Brooke are crazy about each other, but they can't be together now.
Caitlin: And you feel helpless?
Thomas: My Dad's hurting so bad. He and Brooke were just settling down for the long haul -- for us to become a family. And then, before they even had a chance, it was all taken away from him. ****************************************************************************************************
Steffy: I'm sorry, Dad. I didn't mean to make you feel sad.
Ridge: It's all right, sweetheart. In fact, it's kinda nice, thinking about our wedding day. Brooke and I had such an incredible time.
Steffy: Was it romantic?
Ridge: Oh, you bet it was. Brooke didn't even know where we were going.
[ Ridge remembering ]
Brooke: So, it's time to tell me where we're going.
Ridge: And I'm not going to either.
Brooke: Can I guess?
Ridge: Guess all you want. Give it your best shot.
Brooke: Well, give me a little, little clue.
Ridge: Uh, okay, it's, uh, by the ocean.
Brooke: Your taking me back to Porta Fina?
Ridge: No.
Brooke: The Canary Islands --
Ridge: Now why would we relive old memories when we can make new ones?
Brooke: Oh, we're going someplace that we've never been before.
Ridge: Mmm, into the future, Logan -- into the future. We were married in the middle of a rainforest. God, it was beautiful.
[ Ridge remembering ]
Priest: Now that you have made your vows to each other, do you each swear before god to remain faithful -- in good times and bad -- for richer or poorer -- in sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live.
Ridge: I do.
Brooke: I do.
Priest: Then let no one divide what god has joined. Brooke, ridge, it is my privilege and great pleasure to pronounce you husband and wife. I hope you'll have a long and happy life together. You may kiss your bride.
Steffy: It sounds beautiful. Oh daddy, you must miss her so much.
*************************************************************************************
Brooke: Does this have to do with Dr. Paxson?
Jackie: There's something weighing very heavily on my mind.
[ Phone rings ] Something that I have to share with both of you.
[ Phone rings ]
Nick: Mom, gonna answer that?
[ Phone rings ]
Jackie: It's massimo. I have to have this conversation with you.
Brooke: Is it me, or is she acting kinda strange?
Nick: I guess she's just upset about the news.
Brooke: It is sad. Reminds me not to take anything for granted.
Nick: It's a good reminder. We should be celebrating life, right? Especially the one we're expecting.
Brooke: What do you propose we do?
Nick: Well, take a look around. I know it's a bit of a sad time, but this is a little baby in paradise-to-be. I had this kinda made and brought in, and I tried to put it together, so --
Brooke: Wow, I can't believe this.
Nick: Yeah, well it's --
Brooke: Looks like our son's going to sail right off the top floor here.
Nick: No, no, a good sea captain always has his eye on his first mate -- always. So no problem with that.
Brooke: Mm-hmm.
Nick: Yeah, well it's --
Brooke: You really went all out, didn't you? You even got a baby nasal syringe!
Nick: Is that's what that's called?
Brooke: Yep.
Nick: See, I know what it does, I didn't know the name though -- baby nasal syringe.
Brooke: Oh, no. You didn't?
Nick: Yeah, I really did. And it sucks.
Brooke: Oh, gross. Why would you do something like that?
Nick: 'Cause I'm, you know, trying to be involved -- a good father. I wanna know what goes in my son's body, and I've discovered that the green stuff's out. I just look at life through a different set of eyes now that I'm gonna have a child. You know, I really believe everybody involved can make this work out. Since I talked to Thomas the other day, he and his sisters -- it's so hard for them. And I know how much they care about you, and I'd do anything for those kids, I really would. Except give up my son, because that's my life. He's a part of me.
Caitlin: What is it they say? Time heals all wounds?
*****************************************************************************
Thomas: Not wounds this deep. I mean, Brooke was pregnant, and -- long story short, the kid wasn't Dad's. Even though they both wanted that more than anything. Now the poor guy's raising my sisters and me all by himself.
Caitlin: Well, that doesn't necessarily mean the end of the world, Thomas -- I mean, I never even knew my mom -- and my dad raised me all by himself.
Thomas: I had no idea --
Caitlin: Yeah, well, you'll get to meet him. He's coming soon -- and please don't say anything about me interning at Forrester, okay?
Thomas: Why? What's wrong with Forrester?
Caitlin: Nothing -- it's just I don't want him to know that I'm working there yet, okay? Um, dad's always had really definite plans about what he wants for my future.
Thomas: How could you possibly keep this under wraps?
Caitlin: You'd be surprised what I'm capable of.
Hector: Caitie?
Caitlin: Hi, dad.
Hector: How'd work go?
Caitlin it was fine.
Hector: I still can't believe my daughter's a waitress!
Caitlin: Ah, believe it!
Thomas: Hi, nice to meet you, I'm Thomas --
Caitlin: Thomas is a friend.
Hector: Nice to meet you, too. You wanna get your things together, honey. I'll take you home.
Caitlin: Okay. Talk to you later.
Thomas: You can count on that.
********************************************************************************************
Ridge: Hey sweetheart, a little hot chocolate before turning in.
******************************************************************************
Nick: Sometimes I just stop and hear myself. Am I sounding like a bad card commercial, or something -- because I feel like I have such purpose with this child on the way. It's such a different feeling.
Jackie: Oh, Nicky.
Nick: I'd like to say something to you, too -- I know I wasn't easy to raise. I was a big pain in the butt.
Jackie: No. You were unhappy. Now you're happy because of your son.
Nick: Yeah, I guess so. And I wanna be prepared for him. I wanna get this ship in shape, you know? Make sure I'm on top of things. You wanna stick around and help me put things together? I'll order some food up. You look like you could be hungry.
Brooke: Oh, yeah. As long as it's not strained peas.
Nick: Deal. Mother, wanna roll your sleeves up and help out?
Jackie: No, I have to be getting home.
Nick: I know you came by to tell me about Dr. Paxson, but was there anything else?
Jackie: No.
Nick: You sure? Suit yourself. Oh, come here, I wanna show you this. Check these out. There's three of them in there, isn't that great?
Brooke: Oh, that's cute.
Nick: Well, I'm trying to stay with the whole sea, nautical theme --
Brooke: Did you pick these out?
Nick: Well, actually, yeah.
Brooke: You don't --
Nick: Want me to be honest about it?
Brooke: No.
Nick: Okay, I won't, good --
Jackie: Nothing that can't wait until morning.
