Stephanie: You're not having second thoughts about this dinner party, because there's just no need for that.
Eric: I hope you're right. Bridget and me at odds, over Deacon.
Stephanie: Honey, I know this is a difficult time for you, but that's why I had the dinner party. So that everybody else in the family could get to know this young man that she's interested in and you've just got to relax. Time, time, time. Time will pass, and everything will heal between you and Bridget. It'll be fine. I promise you.
**********************************************************************************
Massimo: I cannot believe that I agreed to do this.
Jackie: Massimo --
Massimo: I know, I know, I know. We're doing it for the right reasons. Even so, I am not inclined to do Eric Forrester any favors, thank god. The man is in love with you.
Jackie: Oh, he is not. And can you please just think about Oscar here? What it's going to mean for him to have his family in his corner.
Massimo: Yes, yes, yes, yes. Well, since you put it that way.
Stephanie: Ah --
Massimo: Good evening, good evening.
Stephanie: Mass, Jackie, please, come in. Come in.
Jackie: Thank you.
Massimo: Good to see you, indeed.
Stephanie: Good to see you, Mass.
Jackie: Oh, apparently we're the first to arrive.
Stephanie: Yes. Actually, I wanted just a moment alone with both of you.
Massimo: Huh?
Stephanie: With everything that's been going on, I'm hoping that we'll just be able to put everything aside -- for Oscar and Bridget's sake.
Massimo: Yes, indeed. Nothing would please me more than to see Oscar with this wonderful girl of yours, unless you don't think my Oscar is worthy of your daughter.
*******************************************************************************
Bridget: I can't believe I let Stephanie talk me into this.
Samantha: Oh, hey, this dinner party could go a long way toward smoothing things out between you and your dad.
Bridget: Yeah, or it could be a total disaster.
Samantha: This rift between you and Eric, I know it's just got to be breaking his heart. But it's hard for any father to forgive a man who's -- hurt his daughter.
Bridget: I know that. It hasn't been easy for me, Sam, but, you know, I don't want to live the rest of my life with that bitterness. Deacon has changed. He's a totally different person.
Samantha: Different enough that you find yourself drawn to him again?
Bridget: Oh, god, it's so complicated. But, yeah, I do feel for him.
Samantha: Have you two acted on those feelings?
Bridget: We kissed, but it wouldn't have gone any further than that.
Samantha: What about your feelings for Ozzy?
Bridget: Okay, would you believe the first time I saw Ozzy, I heard bells.
[Both laugh]
Samantha: Bells? Wow.
Bridget: I don't know it's -- when we're together it just -- it feels so right. It's -- it's like --
Samantha: Like it's meant to be?
Bridget: It is like it's meant to be.
Samantha: That's wonderful. You know, and you probably feel partly responsible for what happened to deacon, but don't confuse that with your feelings for Ozzy, because that -- that sounds like the real thing.
***********************************************************************************
Amber: It's not too late to back out.
Oscar: Why would I do that?
Amber: Hmm, self preservation. I know the Forrester clan can be ruthless.
Oscar: It's a dinner party, amber.
Amber: If you're not careful, they'll be serving you for the main course.
Oscar: They just want to get to know me better. What's wrong with that?
Amber: Well, what's wrong is -- no one's ever going to be good enough for their precious little Bridget.
Oscar: Yeah, well, I'm hoping to change their minds.
Amber: It doesn't bother you? Hmm? Eric shooting his daughter's ex, because she has feelings for him again.
Oscar: Okay. She doesn't feel that way about deacon anymore, okay? And if she did it'd be the worse mistake of her life.
Deacon: No, that's okay. I don't mind the extra delivery charge. Yep, just get it over here ASAP, okay? All right, thank you, bye.
Amber: Are you forgetting the history between Bridget and Deacon?
[Oscar grunts]
Oscar: Are you forgetting most of it's bad?
Amber: Well, apparently, it seems she still has feelings for the guy, so --
Oscar: This is what you do, right? You come over here just to get in my hair. Listen to me, listen closely. Bridget wouldn't be giving deacon the time of day if he weren't laid up in the hospital. If deacon's reading into it any more than that, he's kidding himself. I'm about as sure of that as I am sure that Bridget and I are meant to be together.
[Oscar sighs] come on, let's go. Lock the door on your way out.
********************************************************************************
Eric: Here you are.
Massimo: Ah, thank you. So, do you or do you not think my Oscar is worthy of Bridget?
Eric: I don't really know your nephew, Massimo. Though after what happened to Macy at his club, and his life in Las Vegas --
Massimo: Which was none of his doing. It was his father who -- never mind that, the point is he worked himself out of all of that. And I respect him for that. He gave his last dime to coma research on Macy's behalf. Frankly, I would be proud to have a young man like that in my employ.
Eric: In your employ? Is he working at Morrone?
Massimo: No, not yet, but I've got my eye on him for Logan Designs. And, yes, I think he has great potential.
Eric: Well, good. I'm very glad to hear you say that. I would like Bridget to have somebody in her life who could bring more of the things to her that she deserves.
Massimo: As opposed to Deacon Sharpe?
Eric: Yeah. He brought her nothing but misery, and he will bring more misery to her until -- something happens to open her eyes.
*******************************************************************************
Bridget: Ozzy and I are the real thing. It sure feels like it.
Samantha: Well, then, don't worry about tonight. I'm sure that your dad wants it to go just as smoothly as you do.
Bridget: Yeah, it will. As long as dad doesn't bring up Deacon, or try to give Ozzy the third degree.
Samantha: Does Eric have a problem with Oscar, too?
Bridget: Well, he doesn't actually know him very well.
Samantha: Well, Oscar isn't Deacon.
Bridget: Yeah, exactly which is a definite plus in dad's eyes. Still, knowing my father --
Samantha: He's not going to give Oscar a free pass.
Bridget: Exactly. Ooh, which means anything could happen tonight.
[Doorbell rings]
Samantha: I hear bells. Could that be Oscar?
Bridget: That is not funny. Ah, hi.
Oscar: Hi.
Bridget: I am so glad to see you.
Oscar: Hi.
Bridget: Hi. Okay, so, hmm -- are we ready to face the inquisition?
Oscar: You're kidding, right? She's kidding, right?
Samantha: Relax, it's going to be a lovely evening for everyone. You know, as soon as we actually, finally get there --
Bridget: Oh, right. Are you ready?
Oscar: Go where? Where are we going? Come on, let's do it.
Bridget: Okay.
*******************************************************************************
Amber: Hey.
Deacon: Ohh.
Amber: What are you doing?
Deacon: Oh, yeah, three for three, baby. Let's just say, ah -- now things are starting to look up.
*****************************************************************************************
Jackie: Eric's very worried about Bridget, isn't he?
Stephanie: He's upset about this rift between the two of them, yes.
Jackie: He's a compassionate father.
Stephanie: He's always put the welfare of his children first, and I suppose, you could say the same about you and me, as well.
Jackie: You're making a point?
Stephanie: Just restating what you said earlier about -- that you'd be very happy if Nick were the father of Brooke's baby.
Jackie: Did I shock you?
[Stephanie laughs]
Stephanie: I don't shock very easily, but it does make me wonder.
Jackie: Stephanie, you said that we were going to concentrate on Oscar and Bridget tonight.
Stephanie: They're not here yet.
[Knock on door]
Jackie: Yes, they are. Today we're so busy...
************************************************************************************
Amber: Here.
Deacon: Ah, thank you.
Amber: Ah! And here is a little something Eric drew especially for you this morning.
Deacon: Hey, hey, look at this, huh? It's great.
Amber: And -- last but not least -- ta-da! Your very own lava lamp.
Deacon: Gee, you shouldn't have -- I mean you really shouldn't have.
Amber: Well, you know, since i figured you probably are going to be here for a little while, you might as well make this place a little homier.
Deacon: Hey, after my surgery tomorrow, these legs, they're taking me out of here. It's going to happen a hell of a lot quicker than anyone thinks. What?
Amber: I -- I just – I don't know. You're so psyched. I was expecting --
Deacon: What, that I'm going to be defeatist? Look, a negative attitude, it's not going to help, is it? All right, these legs are going to carry me out of here. Let's change the subject. Tell me -- tell me about little D's sleepover.
Amber: Well, it's just with a couple friends. You know, Tommy, and -- quite the artist, isn't he?
Deacon: I tell you what, I think the kid's got some serious talent.
Amber: Yeah.
Deacon: He is something else, isn't he?
Amber: He is, he is.
Deacon: There's that look again.
Amber: No, it's just -- you know, it seems like you're so up, and I don't know, are you sure you're not in any pain?
Deacon: You know something, this is all because of Bridget. I feel like I'm getting a second chance again, and I'm not going to blow it, not this time.
********************************************************************************
Samantha: So now, what's this I hear about you coming to work at Logan Designs?
Oscar: Yeah, well, that's what Masso here wants me to do, but I got to still figure out things.
Jackie: Thank you.
Eric: Welcome. Hi.
Bridget: Hi.
Eric: How's everything at school?
Bridget: Fine. It's okay.
Eric: Oh, I'm sure it's better than that. You've always been a wonderful student.
Bridget: You think so?
Eric: What I think is that you and I are walking on eggshells, and it makes me sad.
Bridget: Well, me, too, dad, but I --
Oscar: Hey, how's everything going down here?
Eric: We're doing very well, actually. And some of that is because my daughter's being treated the way she should be treated. Look, let's join the others. I think it's time for a toast. Everyone, I'd like to make a toast -- to family, and to new friends. I'm very, very, pleased to see Bridget on Ozzy's arm this evening.
Bridget: Um, by the way, in case nobody knew, deacon's having another surgery tomorrow.
**************************************************************************************
Deacon: Bridget does care about me. She's shown it. What are you doing?
Amber: I'm checking your temperature.
Deacon: Why?
Amber: Because sometimes when people run high fevers they tend to get a little delusional.
Deacon: I don't have a fever, and I'm not delusional.
Amber: Okay, deacon, reality check, hmm?
Deacon: This ought to be good.
Amber: What Bridget has shown you is compassion. Okay, she feels bad about what happened, plus she's making nice so you'll let her father off the hook for putting a slug in you.
Deacon: Okay, well, that's a very interesting theory, but what's been going on between me and Bridget, this started way before the shooting, all right? And I like to think that I'm smart enough to differentiate between sympathy and love. What we feel for each other is real, Amber. As soon as I get up out of this bed, and I'm back in commission, we're going to be together. I promise.
***************************************************************************
Stephanie: Why don't we go into the dining room?
Eric: No, no, wait, not before I say something.
Stephanie: Eric, I thought we agreed that this evening was just about Bridget and Oscar.
Eric: It'll just be a minute. This evening is supposed to be about the two of you, but there's a lot more going on here than that, and we all know it. So, it'd be silly of us to just -- ignore that, wouldn't it? Look, everybody here knows there's been a terrible, terrible accident, honey. And that Deacon Sharpe is lying in a hospital bed -- paralyzed. And we all feel terrible about that. And god willing, his surgeries will help him to walk again, soon. But there's a big difference between sympathy for the man and glossing over the pain that he's caused this family. Which I cannot and will not do, because of you, Bridget, because of my love and my concern for you.
Bridget: Daddy --
Eric: No, no, no, no, no. You need to let me say this. I hate this tension between us, but even more I hate this blind spot that you have where Deacon Sharpe is concerned. I'm your father, and I wasn't able to protect you from deacon before. And I'm not going to let him hurt you again. Not the way he hurt you so, so deeply, and that -- that hurt me. It hurt me to see my daughter hurting so much, and I'm not going to let that happen again. I'm not going to let my daughter be hurt like that.
Bridget: If you would just let me get a word in --
Oscar: Okay, uh --
Bridget: Daddy, you don't have to worry --
Oscar: Time out, time out. Can I say something here? Sorry, i just -- look, I call them like I see them. You know that, and what I see here is a family who just really loves you, a lot. I mean, Stephanie, she threw this whole shin-dig for you, and, Jackie, Massimo, Sam, they're here because they care about you. And your father here, forget about it, I mean it's obvious how much you mean to him. That said though, you've got to understand you don't got to worry about this lady here. I mean, she's got nothing if she don't have a good head on her shoulders. I don't know, you know, maybe sometimes her heart's too big for its own good. But, you know --
Eric: That may be true.
Oscar: There's worse things, right?
Eric: Yeah, maybe there are. I just feel that Deacon Sharpe is a dangerous man.
Bridget: Not if I know better, and I do, dad. Look, I understand what your concern, after all the pain deacon's caused us. I get that. And you and Ozzy have both said that I -- I got caught up in something. My feelings of sympathy for deacon, and you know what, you're right, I did. I let it go too far. I should never have let it happen.
Eric: But my concern is -- who's to say it won't happen again?
Oscar: I am.
**********************************************************************************
Deacon: Thanks for bringing that by.
Nurse: Anything for my favorite patient.
Amber: What's in the fancy bag, huh?
Deacon: Well, I just happened to call the best jewelry store in all of Los Angeles, had them size this, and ship it right over.
Amber: Oh, my god. That -- that's not what I think it is, is it? Oh, my gosh. Ah.
Deacon: Next time I see Bridget, I'm popping the question. And I'm not going to take no for an answer.
