Sheila: Ridge.
Ridge: You look surprised. Didn't you know you'd have to deal with me?
Brooke: Oh, hi. It is you. Come on in. Could you just watch hope for a minute? I need to put those things in the car.
Stephanie: Well, sure, but I have to talk to you.
Brooke: Oh, okay. Well, we're going to the hospital. Do you want to join us?
Stephanie: You're going to the hospital now?
Brooke: Yeah, I thought I'd take Hope over to see Taylor. And you know how Taylor is with babies. I think it'll help lift her spirits. You look tired.
Stephanie: I didn't sleep at all last night.
Brooke: You worried about your daughter-in-law?
Stephanie: Ridge.
Brooke: Oh, I know. I was scared, too, until I heard that Taylor was doing better. And I am so glad she got to see her kids. I mean, that probably meant the world to her.
Stephanie: It did.
Brooke: I know how close you and Taylor are, but don't worry. The worst is behind us now.
Stephanie: No, Brooke, it isn't.
Brooke: No? What do you mean?
Stephanie: They couldn't save her.
Brooke: They -- yes, yes. They did save her. She's fine!
Stephanie: Taylor died last night.
Brooke: Oh, god.
*******************************************************************************************
Phoebe: What's the matter? Are you sad about mommy?
Bridget: Yeah, I am.
Phoebe: She's coming home soon. Daddy said. Don't cry.
Eric: Sweetheart, are your sister and brother awake yet?
Phoebe: Yes.
Eric: Yeah? Why don't you go upstairs and get them, and tell them that we're gonna go for doughnuts. What do you say?
Phoebe: Doughnuts? But I want to be here when mommy gets back.
Eric: Sweetheart, your mommy's not gonna come home this morning.
Phoebe: Is she coming home later?
Eric: I'll tell you what. Your daddy's at the hospital with her right now, and he'll come home later, and he's gonna tell you all about it, okay? I know you love your mother very much. We all do. Now, go on. You go upstairs and get ready.
Bridget: I don't know how he's gonna do it. How does Ridge tell his kids their mommy's never coming home?
********************************************************************************************
Sheila: Oh, god. Ridge, I -- I just heard. I'm so sorry.
Ridge: Now you're sorry.
Sheila: No -- no, I -- from the moment that it happened. I never -- I never meant to hurt her. It's the last thing in the world that I would have wanted. I've never done anything so horrible, and I am sorry. I'm gonna pay for it.
Ridge: Oh, yes, you are, Sheila.
Sheila: I just -- I wish that I could make you understand that it was an accident. It was just an accident. I just -- I panicked.
Ridge: You panicked? Holding a gun on three unarmed people, and you panicked? You see, I think you have it all a little backwards there, Sheila. Because the time to panic is right now.
******************************************************************************************
Eric: It's going to be so hard for ridge, facing his children. He's not ready for this. Look, I'm gonna take the kids out for breakfast, all right? I'll give him some time.
Bridget: Okay. I'll wait here so I can tell him where you are.
Eric: Okay.
Bridget: God, what is he gonna do without her? I mean, he relied on her so much -- especially after he cut himself off from the family.
Eric: That is gonna have to change.
Bridget: Definitely. Something like this happens, none of that other stuff matters. It's got to be all about the kids right now, and just getting them through this. But Dad, you know, this isn't just something that you just get through. You never stop wanting your mother to be there for you. Everything they go through now, every holiday, every graduation -- when they get married, when they have their own kids. They're gonna want her to be there. They're gonna want her advice and her love, and they're never going to have that again -- never again.
****************************************************************************************
Brooke: I can't believe this. Taylor, she's gone?
Stephanie: There was so much damage to the heart that there really wasn't anything they could do.
Brooke: And Ridge?
Stephanie: He was with her the whole time. He was very happy that he was. I mean, he said that she was very peaceful, and she wasn't frightened at all.
Brooke: Oh, god. And you stayed with him?
Stephanie: Yeah, Eric and I stayed there all night with him.
Brooke: So where is he now?
Stephanie: I'm not sure. I just hope he isn't doing anything foolish.
*********************************************************************************************
Ridge: You know, I never got you before. How someone could be so filled with hate, it would color everything they did -- poison their entire being. Now I'm there. I'm there. You've opened my eyes to a whole new world, Sheila.
Sheila: No. No, Ridge, because Taylor wouldn't want that.
Ridge: Oh, she wouldn't want that? She wouldn't want that? Why don't you tell me which part she would want, Sheila? Hmm? Would she want to get blown away? Would she want to leave her kids? Hmm? Would she want to look into their tiny little faces, knowing the hell they're about go through because of your twisted obsession, huh? Is that what she wanted? Hmm?
Sheila: I was just trying to protect my little girl.
Ridge: You were trying to protect her? You were trying to protect her. Really? You were trying to turn her into you, Sheila. She's a teenage girl, and you involve her in kidnapping and murder. You tell her to go out and get pregnant? What kind of sick psychopath are you, huh? But Taylor -- Taylor was about helping people. Taylor was about helping people even if they didn't deserve it. A lot of us depended on her, Sheila, and now she's gone. She's gone, but you -- you're still here. You're still living. Now, how do I live with that, hmm? How do I live with that, Sheila? Well, I'll tell you -- I can't. I can't live with that. And that means, neither can you.
Sheila: Guard!
Ridge: Who's gonna care when you're gone, Sheila?
Sheila: Let go of me!
Ridge: I want you to think about what Taylor felt when she was on the other end of that gun.
Sheila: Stop it! Guard!
Ridge: She didn't want to die. She knew she was gonna lose her life. She was never gonna see us again. I want you to think about that. I want to know who's gonna miss you when you're gone, huh? Who's gonna give a damn about you when I send you straight to hell!
Guard: Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Ridge: Get off of me! Who's gonna care? Nobody! Nobody's gonna give a damn about you! Get off of me! Get off of me! She killed my wife! She killed my wife! I'm gonna send you straight to hell, Sheila!
Guard: Get him out of here.
Ridge: You killed my wife!
****************************************************************************************
Brooke: So he got upset with this woman, and then he took off?
Stephanie: Oh, he was already upset. It wasn't her fault.
Brooke: Well, I don't understand. Why would she want to provoke him at a time like this? She's supposed to be a grief counselor.
Stephanie: He didn't need a lot of provoking. And from what I can see, she's good at her job. I mean, Taylor wouldn't have called her.
Brooke: Yeah, that's true. It's amazing. She was looking after Ridge and the children up until her last breath.
Stephanie: Yeah. And if it's possible, even now. You know, when I was driving over, I could hear her -- talking to me, saying just the right things, always knowing just the right thing to say to you at the moment.
Brooke: I went in to her hospital room when she woke up, and I know it's hard to believe given our history, but she was so supportive and so encouraging and compassionate.
Stephanie: Oh, I believe it.
Brooke: I guess that was Taylor. I mean, I never really knew that side of her. Maybe I just never really wanted to. But that's what Ridge saw. That's what he fell in love with. And that's what he wanted and he so needed. Can you imagine what it's going to be like for him when he goes home and he walks through that door? And all those happy memories they used to have there -- she's not gonna be there. She just won't be there ever again.
Stephanie: Thank god he's got the kids.
Brooke: There's a lot of Taylor in them.
Stephanie: I know. Well, they'll be the reason that he is able to get up every morning and face the world without her.
Brooke: And he's going to need some help, handling their grief on top of his own.
Stephanie: I know. They're gonna be heartbroken, just the way he is.
Brooke: Well, he's gonna have a lot of support. He won't go through this alone.
Stephanie: Yeah, but he's really alone, isn't he? Probably more alone than he's ever been in his life. I mean, what does he do without her? She was really his partner, and his strength. His inspiration, you know. How do you fill a void like that? I don't know. I don't think you can. Who does he turn to? I mean, he's got the kids, he has us, the family, but -- we can't fill a void like that. No one can. And he knows it. That's the toughest part. He knows it.

Bridget: Ridge? Dad has the kids. He took them to breakfast. They don't know. I don't know what to say. I can't believe this. I am so sorry.
[ Ridge remembering ]
Taylor: Okay, here we go. Mommy's right here. Mommy's right here, and I'm gonna be right here and keep you all nice and safe and warm until that crabby old thunder goes away. And that goes for you too, bud.
Ridge: What about me? Will you keep me all nice and safe and warm, too?
Taylor: Always.
Thomas: Mom, when I'm an angel, I'm gonna go bowling on disco night. How about you?
Taylor: When I'm an angel? I don't think I would have any time. I'd be way too busy looking over my little angels on earth.
Taylor: Welcome home.
Ridge: Wow.
Taylor: I was hoping you would say that.
[ Phone ringing ]
Bridget: Do you want me to get it?
[ Taylor on answering machine ]
Taylor: Hi, you've reached the Forrester residence. Unfortunately, we're not in right now. So please leave a message and one of us will get back to you real soon. Have a great day.
