[ sound of heart monitor alarm ]

Stephanie: Taylor, what's happening?

Taylor: My heart rate.

Stephanie: I'm gonna get the doctor.

Taylor: No, get Ridge. Please, find him. Hurry.

Dr. Cooper: Taylor?

Taylor: I can't breathe.

Mark: Her heart rate's 129. We have to administer more Lidocaine.

Dr. Cooper: Her drip is maxed out.

Mark: Pronestyl?

Dr. Cooper: No.

Mark: There's gotta be something we can do.

Dr. Cooper: Turn off the alarm.

Taylor: Arrhythmia?

Dr. Cooper: Yes. Your qrs rhythm has become polymorphic. I had hoped to control it with medication. It's not working.

Taylor: There's nothing else you can do?

Mark: No. There is, we could give you an acidd. It's a device that shocks the heart every time it loses rhythm. It's like a reset button.

Taylor: Will that work?

Dr. Cooper: At this point, I'm afraid it's too dangerous. The arrhythmia isn't responding to the medication, which means that the shocking device would be activating with more frequency than your body could withstand. Any surgery right now would be extremely precarious.

Taylor: And if I don't get the surgery?

Mark: Unchecked, the arrhythmia will intensify and your heart rate will continue to increase.

Dr. Cooper: If it should go over 160, your heart won't fill with blood completely, so it won't pump blood through your body. Your blood pressure will drop dangerously low.

Taylor: Ventricular tachycardia.

Mark: I'm sorry.

Dr. Cooper: You just give me the word, Taylor. It's up to you. What do you want to do?

                        *****************************************************************************************

Thorne: I know you don't want to get into this right now, but it could be an issue, Dad. It's about the jingle –

Eric: Thorne, I don't want to get into it, all right? I don't.

Thorne: I'm sorry.

Eric: I'm sorry, too, son. I don't mean to snap at you. It just doesn't seem right, us being here, going about our business like nothing's happened.

Thorne: Look, I can take care of things here, okay? Why don't you go to the hospital?

Eric: No, no, I have that meeting tonight. And I have this other stuff --

Thorne: Dad, Dad, hey. I can handle it, okay? Go on.

Eric: Thanks. Thanks, son.

Thorne: Dad, Taylor's going to be okay.

                        *******************************************************************************************

Ridge: Hey, Mother.

Stephanie: Where have you been? I've been looking all over for you!

Ridge: Why, what's wrong?

Stephanie: Taylor -- something happened to her. Get in there right now, quickly! She needs you.

Ridge: Taylor? Oh my god! What are you doing? Where's your oxygen? Your I.V.? Why aren't you hooked up to the machines?

Taylor: I took them off.

Ridge: Taylor, you can't. You need those. Come on, we gotta get your doctor.

Taylor: It's all right. It's okay. I know what I'm doing.

                        ****************************************************************************************

Thorne: Hey. I didn't know you were coming in tonight.

Brooke: I was on my way home, and I thought I'd giveEeric an update.

Thorne: I just sent him to the hospital.

Brooke: He wasn't getting any work done?

Thorne: He's really worried about Taylor.

Brooke: Yeah, we all are.

Thorne: How's she doing?

Brooke: She's stable. Ridge said she looks good.

Thorne: You didn't see her?

Brooke: I did earlier. But Stephanie was in with her when I left, so I didn't want to interrupt.

Thorne: Well, what about you? How's the shoulder?

Brooke: Oh, it's nothing compared to what Taylor went through, is going through. I was lucky. We all were. I just hope that that luck holds out.

                        *************************************************************************************

Eric: Stephanie?

Stephanie: Eric, hi. I'm glad you're here.

Eric: Is everything all right? Has something happened?

Stephanie: One of the monitors on Taylor just started going off. And I got up to go and get a doctor, and she insisted that I go find Ridge.

Eric: Did you?

Stephanie: Yes, I mean -- yeah, he's in there now.

Eric: Did you talk to Dr. Cooper?

Stephanie: No. No, the nurses said that he and another doctor went in there while I was looking for Ridge.

Eric: Well, everything must be all right, or we would've heard something.

Stephanie: I don't think that's the case.

Eric: Why?

Stephanie: You remember a few Christmases ago, I gave Taylor my grandmother's necklace? She gave it back to me. She wants me to give it to one of the girls, when they're older.

Eric: But she can do that herself.

Stephanie: That's not what she's talking about. That's not what she was talking about at all.

                        ******************************************************************************************

Ridge: Taylor, this isn't safe. You can't just take yourself off the machines. We have to call the doctor.

Taylor: He knows.

Ridge: What do you mean, he knows?

Taylor: I asked him to do it.

Ridge: Why?

Taylor: Because I don't need them anymore.

Ridge: You don't need them? So you're okay?

Taylor: Yes, and you will be, too. You and the children are surrounded by so many people who love you and care for you.

Ridge: Nobody needs to worry about me and the kids. You're the one we're praying for, doc.

Taylor: My life has been so full of blessings. Our marriage. Our children. Our family we've created. I couldn't asked for anything more.

Ridge: Well, you're gonna get a lot more of them. There's still a lot of blessings ahead for us.

Taylor: You just have to have faith. You'll never be alone. God will never, ever abandon our family.

Ridge: Hey, I have all the faith in the world. I know that God's up there watching over us. Nobody's going to tear this family apart.

Taylor: Our prayers aren't always answered the way we expect them to be.

Ridge: Well, I'm not expecting any miracle cures. I understand this is gonna take time.

Taylor: Ridge --

Ridge: So, the doctor took you off the machines and all that, so you -- it's just a matter of time before you can come home, then.

Taylor: Ridge -- I won't be going home with you.

Taylor: So do I. I do. We have so much to be thankful for. Falling in love. Our babies. Loving our babies and building a future for them.

Ridge: What kind of future are we gonna have without you?

Taylor: I know you'll survive. Look at me. It's okay. There's nothing to be afraid of. It's going to be okay.

                        *******************************************************************************************

Thorne: Listen, I can't pretend to know what you've been through, okay? Or what it must've been like.

Brooke: Well, that's not important now. I just want to focus on Taylor's recovery.

Thorne: And you need to focus on your own.

Brooke: I'm all right. I was just worried about Taylor.

Thorne: Well, you said she was stable.

Brooke: Yes, she is.

Thorne: Then we just have to hope for the best.

Brooke: No, Thorne. We have to pray for the best. And we have to believe that those prayers are going to be answered. Because that's what Taylor would do.

Thorne: It's gonna be okay, all right? It's gonna be okay. Come here.

Eric: Stephanie, this is incredibly nerve-wracking. We're all on edge, but we cannot let our fears get the best of us. Now, we're gonna get through this, all of us, together.

                        *******************************************************************************************

Ridge: Are you sure, there's nothing else that can be done?

Taylor: You know I wouldn't leave you if I didn't have to.

Ridge: The kids?

Taylor: I know you'll raise them well. It's just, I won't --

Ridge: I know. I know. They're gonna miss their mommy so much, too.

Taylor: There's so many things I want to say. But all I can think when I look at you is, I love you.

Ridge: That's enough.

Taylor: Is it?

Ridge: Yeah. I've built my entire life around those words. Our home. Our family. It's the one thing I've always been able to depend on.

Taylor: You still can. Our love won't die. Hold on to them. Don't forget.

Ridge: I won't forget. Not ever. Sweetheart?

Taylor: Listen to that music. It's lovely.

Ridge: You want me to call the doctor?

Taylor: No. I want you to -- I want you to pick me up. I want you to make me stand up with you.

Ridge: Stand up?

Taylor: Put your arms around me. Hold me. Hold me.

[ Taylor gasping ]

Ridge: I love you. I love you, always.

Taylor: I love you. I love you, too. Good-bye, sweetheart.

[ Ridge sobbing ]
