Erica: Mom? Oh god, no. No, it can't be. She doesn't know the Foresters. She would have said something. But it looks just like her. What is she doing in a picture with Mr. Forrester?

                        ***********************************************************************************

Massimo: Ba, ba, ba, bum. Beatrice?

Sheila: No.

Massimo: Gwendolyn?

Sheila: No. And what makes you think I'd tell you even if you guessed right?

Massimo: You wouldn't have to, because I would see it in your eyes.

[ Massimo laughs ] are you always so evasive?

Sheila: Are you always so persistent?

Massimo: Oh, you have no idea. My persistence would put Sisyphus to shame.

Sheila: Ah, a man on a hopeless quest, always striving for what he'll never achieve? How romantic.

Massimo: You think so?

Sheila: I do. You know, I'm a hopeless romantic myself.

Massimo: See, that's funny. I would never guess that about you.

Sheila: And you're not gonna guess my name either.

Massimo: Would you like some more coffee?

Sheila: Yes.

[ Sheila sighs ] oh, talk about hopeless. And who says the paper doesn't print good news?

[ Sheila laughs ]

                        **********************************************************************************

Brooke: Stephanie?

Stephanie: I know I'm a little early. Is that all right?

Brooke: That's fine.

Stephanie: Good. You hungry?

Brooke: Starved.

Stephanie: And the baby?

Brooke: Sound asleep.

Stephaniet1good. Letting mommy get some work done.

Brooke: Yes. I wish I could say the same about my daughter-in-law.

Stephanie: I saw it.

Brooke: Hmm. Megan's been running interference all morning.

Stephanie: Well, do you think you have to make some sort of statement for the press?

Brooke: Stephanie, this is a huge international corporation I'm running, not a halfway house for recovering addicts.

Stephanie: You're the one that hired her.

Brooke: Please don't remind me.

Stephanie: All right. Maybe this will cheer you up. Surprise.

Brooke: Duck confit from Cafe Russe?

Stephanie: I know. And roasted veggies with risotto.

Brooke: Oh, yum. That's really sweet of you. You know what? I already ordered lunch.

Stephanie: What? You mean you're that hungry you couldn't wait?

Brooke: Well, I forgot to tell you. I saw Bridget yesterday, and I asked her to join us.

Stephanie: And she accepted the invitation?

Brooke: She didn't say no.

[ Stephanie sighs ]

Stephanie: Look, I -- I know that you're hoping some sort of change is going to come over her now that deacon's gone, but Brooke, I don't think you can expect that major a change this soon.

[ Knock at door ]

Bridget: Mom?

Brooke: Bridget! Come in.

Bridget: Hi, Stephanie.

Stephanie: Hi, sweetheart.

Brooke: Oh, honey, I'm so glad to see you. I knew that you would come.

                        *********************************************************************************

Erica: Oh, god, there has to be another picture. This can't be the only one. Oh god, what is going on? What is my mom doing in this photo album? This doesn't make any sense.

Eric: Daddy! Daddy!

Rick: Hey, buddy.

Erica: Oh, Rick, you're home.

Rick: Yeah. Give me a hug, pal. So what have you guys been up to?

Erica: Um, Eric and I were just looking through your photo album.

Rick: Oh, that's mom's.

Erica: Yeah. Some of those pictures go way back.

Rick: I'll bet. I don't think anybody's looked through that in years. Look. Look at this. Mom saves everything.

Erica: So, um, you're home early. Did you -- did you go see Amber?

Rick: Yeah.

Erica: How did it go?

Rick: I'll tell you what, I'm gonna --I'm gonna bring him upstairs and put him down for his nap, and then I'll tell you all about it, okay?

Erica: Yeah, sure.

Rick: Come here, bud. We're gonna upstairs. Nap time.

Erica: Um, hey, Rick, I was just wondering -- um, can you tell me something? This -- this woman, who is she?

Rick: Oh, that's Sheila.

Erica: Sheila?

Rick: Yeah, my dad's ex-wife.

Erica: They were married?

Rick: Not for long, thank god.

Erica: Um, you -- you mean they weren't happy?

Rick: Happy? Are you kidding me? That was the biggest mistake my dad has ever made. That woman is bad news.

Erica: Um, did they have any kids?

Rick: No.

Erica: No.

Rick: And it's a good thing, because that woman, she's a real nut job. Come on, buddy. Let's go upstairs, and I'll put you down for your nap. You want to come tuck him in with me?

Erica: Um, no. Go ahead. It looks like you guys could use some quality time.

Rick: Yeah, you got that right. Come on, buddy, let's go upstairs.

Erica: Oh, god! God, mom, how could this be? How could you be the biggest mistake of Eric Forrester's life?

                        ********************************************************************************

Sheila: "Amber Forrester, lead designer for Forrester creations, was arrested yesterday on charges of vandalism and resisting arrest. According to witnesses, Mrs. Forrester broke a window in a Hollywood apartment building. She became abusive when approached by the police officers called to the scene by concerned neighbors. A scuffle ensued, and Mrs. Forrester allegedly assaulted one of the officers."

[ Sheila laughs ] oh, Amber, Amber, Amber. This is too good to be true.

[ Sheila laughs ]

Massimo: Good news?

Sheila: Oh, yes. You know, it just keeps getting better and better.

Massimo: Good.

Sheila: It's just too bad I won't be here to see the fairy-tale ending.

Erica: Oh god, come on. Answer. Pick up, pick up, pick up. Ah, voice mail. At least she didn't turn her phone off. Hey, mom, it's me. Look, I know you left town, but I need to talk to you, okay? I have to talk to you today. It's really important. So call me back as soon as you get this message, okay? It's an emergency.

                        **********************************************************************************

Brooke: I ordered lunch.

Bridget: Um, I have to go back to work.

Brooke: Well, Stephanie brought some food from Cafe Russe if you are hungry right now.

Bridget: No, thanks. I just stopped by to say hi. Megan told me you were here.

Brooke: Guess who else is here? Your little sister.

Stephanie: Yes, but she's asleep.

[ Baby cries ]

Brooke: No, she's up now. She always gets so excited when Bridget's here.

Bridget: You know, I -- I don't want to interrupt your lunch. Dad asked me to stop by and sign some papers. He's in a meeting. But you know what? I'm gonna come back later, okay? It was nice seeing you, Stephanie -- Mom.

Brooke: Honey, don't run off.

Stephanie: Brooke, if she has to go --

Brooke: Eric will be out of the meeting soon, and Megan will buzz us. You can wait a few minutes, can't you?

Bridget: Sure.

Brooke: Great. Come on in. Why don't you sit down right over here. I'll move these sketches. Stephanie, you sit down, too. And we can eat. We can all have lunch together. Let's see, there's some roasted vegetables with risotto. Really good. And Duck Confit.

Bridget: You know, I'm not that hungry. But don't let me stop you guys.

Brooke: Oh, no, no. That's okay, we can wait.

[ Knock at door ]

Bobby: Ms. Logan?

Brooke: Yes, Bobby?

Bobby: Uh, Megan isn't at her desk. Can I get you to sign these requisition forms?

Brooke: Sure.

Bobby: Here we go.

Brooke: Thanks.

Bobby: Thanks.

Brooke: So Bridget, why don't you tell me what's going on with your life?

Bridget: Oh, uh -- well, you know, work, getting ready for school. What's going on with you?

Brooke: You know, work, getting ready for pre-school.

Bridget: That's it?

Brooke: Well, this little angel's really taking up most of my time.

Bridget: But not all of it.

Brooke: I'm not seeing anybody. I told you, no more men. I am completely focused on my child.

Stephanie: And doing a wonderful job, I might add.

Bridget: I know you are. I know. I just -- look, I'm being realistic here. I mean, you're not gonna swear off men forever. You're gonna have to start dating eventually.

Brooke: Someday when I meet the right man.

Bridget: You might want to let Stephanie pick him out for you this time.

Stephanie: Oh, actually, that might be a good idea. I mean, your track record with men and relationships is pretty disastrous.

Brooke: Well, I'm concentrating on my baby right now.

Bridget: Mom, no offense, but you can't be concentrating that hard. You haven't even given her a name yet.

                        ************************************************************************************

Massimo: You're still leaving town?

Sheila: As soon as I can.

Massimo: I still don't know your name. How am I supposed to find you?

Sheila: You don't.

Massimo: So you are going to vanish as suddenly as you appeared?

Sheila: I'm gonna try.

Massimo: For your daughter's sake?

Sheila: Yeah. That's about all I can do for her now.

Massimo: Well, I for one will admit, I'm not anxious to see you go, especially after last night.

Sheila: Well, that's good, because I like to leave my suitors wanting more.

Massimo: Oh, boy. Don't tell me you have a man in every port.

Sheila: You're the sailor, not me.

Massimo: Let's just say that I have more than one talent.

Sheila: You certainly do.

Massimo: I should warn you, though, I am also a little bit of a thief.

Sheila: Oh, you think you're gonna steal my heart?

Massimo: No, I have a feeling that is spoken for. No, no. I think I have found the key to open some of your secrets.

Sheila: Oh. And what's that?

Massimo: I found your cell phone on the counter.

Sheila: Give it back.

Massimo: Now, is your name in here? I mean, who are your friends?

Sheila: Give it back.

Massimo: Let's see here. Oh --

[ phone rings ]

Sheila: No, don't.

Massimo: My goodness, look at that.

Sheila: Don't do that.

Massimo: There are seven messages. You are a popular woman.

Sheila: Don't do that. Stop.

Massimo: Oh, no, no, no, no.

Sheila: Give it back.

Massimo: Oh, look, someone's calling. Who could it -- ?

Erica: Mom, are you there? Mom?

Sheila: Hi, honey.

Erica: Mom, where are you? Look, I need to see you. Are you still in L.A.? I'm not joking, mom. I have to talk to you.

Sheila: Where?

Erica: The apartment, okay? I'll be waiting for you.

Sheila: I'll be there.

Erica: You better be. I mean it, Mom. I'm not joking, okay? Don't jerk me around. Look, I have to talk to you now. You can't run away from the truth this time, Mother.

                        *****************************************************************************************

Rick: Hey, Erica, where are you going?

Erica: Um, I thought you were putting him down for a nap.

Rick: Well, I was hoping that you'd have better luck.

Erica: You know what, Rick? I'm really sorry, but I can't right now. Um, I have to go run out for awhile.

Rick: Well, where are you going?

Erica: Um, I'll be back soon. I -- I just have to go take care of some stuff. Be good for your daddy, okay? Go lay down, take a nap. I'll be back, I promise.

Rick: I wonder what that was about. Wanna go see if Marta made you some cookies like she promised? I don't know, I think they're sugar cookies. Is that okay with you?

                        ******************************************************************************************

Brooke: I want to name this baby, Bridget. I just want to give her a very special name.

Bridget: Do you have any ideas?

Stephanie: I think she wants it to be kind of symbolic. Isn't that what you said?

Brooke: Yes. This child has changed my life. She's given me a purpose and a focus outside of myself, and I want her name to reflect the joy that she's brought into my life.

Stephanie: How about joy?

Brooke: Joy?

Bridget: That's okay, if you only want her name to reflect what she's brought to your life. But what about Stephanie? This little girl has changed her life, too.

Stephanie: You can say that again. I mean, before she was born, would we ever be having lunch together? No. I think it's safe to say she's brought us together.

Brooke: I hope she'll have that effect on us.

Bridget: Hope.

Brooke: What?

Bridget: Hope.

Brooke: Hope? Yes. Hope for a new future, for a fresh start.

Stephanie: Well, the way she's changed your life, there might be hope for you, too.

[ Laughter ]

Brooke: Hi. Hey.

Bridget: Hope. I like it.

Brooke: Thanks to this baby, there may be hope for all of us.

                        *************************************************************************************

Sheila: Erica, honey? Are you here?

Erica: Yeah, Mom.

Sheila: Sweetheart, I am -- I am so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you.

Erica: Well, I'm not hurt, Mother. I'm confused.

Sheila: I know, baby. I -- I know. I -- I wanted to say good-bye. I wanted to tell you in person. I just -- I knew that I wouldn't go if -- if I saw you.

Erica: But you didn't go, mom. You didn't leave L.A.

Sheila: Well, I'm -- I'm going to.

Erica: But I thought you were in such a hurry.

Sheila: I -- I know that you don't understand, but believe me, it's for the best.

Erica: For the best? You abandoned your daughter to run off with a guy you just met. At least that's what your note said.

Sheila: I had to make a decision, Erica. I didn't have time to discuss it.

Erica: You couldn't even wait until after the party?

Sheila: I wanted to.

Erica: No, you didn't. No, you never had any intention of going to the party.

Sheila: Of course I did.

Erica: Oh, really, mom? Really? Well, why didn't you? I mean, gosh, you're such a big fan of the Forresters. Why wouldn't you want to meet them?

Sheila: Look, it -- it wasn't like that.

Erica: No? What if you had gone? What would you have said to them, mother?

Sheila: I would have told them how proud I am of you, what an amazing young woman you are. Oh, sweetheart, tell me. Was it -- was it wonderful, the party, having the Forresters honoring you, accepting you?

Erica: Why don't you tell me? You should know.

Sheila: What is that?

Erica: What's it look like? It's a photo, Mom, of Eric Forrester.

Sheila: I can see that.

Erica: Yeah, why don't you take a closer look! Who's that in the background, Mom? Is -- is that you?

Sheila: No.

Erica: Really? Maybe it's just somebody who looks like you? Here, let me check again. No. No, that's definitely you! God, mother, what are you doing in this picture?! What were you doing there?!

Sheila: I don't -- I don't remember --

Erica: You liar! You liar! Stop lying to me! All this time, my whole life, you were married to Eric Forrester! You were his wife!

Sheila: I can explain, Erica.

Erica: Yeah, and you're going to! God, how could you lie to me about this? What else haven't you told me?! I want answers, mother, and you're gonna give them to me right now!
