Deacon: Hi, Bridget.
Bridget: What is he doing here?
Brooke: I don't know. Deacon, I thought you left town.
Deacon: I had to pick up a few things before I left. I thought maybe I'd give New York a shoot. I'm gonna leave tomorrow.
Brooke: We already said good-bye.
Deacon: I know. I just thought that maybe you two could talk. Maybe with me out of the picture, you have a shot of patching this up.
Bridget: You were hoping I'd forgive her?
Deacon: That's why I left, Bridget. Didn't your mother tell you?
Brooke: Deacon, we just started talking. This has been very painful for you Bridget.
Deacon: Yeah. But you're doing better, right?
Bridget: Why? Oh, are you worried about me?
Deacon: Yeah, Bridget, I've been real worried about you. The last time I saw you, you were so angry. Hell, I've never seen you like that. And I just -- that's why I left. I thought maybe -- maybe if I wasn't around, you two could repair this.
Bridget: So you've been waiting for this?
Deacon: Yes. I'm happy for you, Brooke. I know how important this is to you.
Bridget: Wow. Deacon, that was quite a performance. You'll excuse me if I don't stick around for the encore.
Brooke: Bridget, don't go!
Bridget: I am not gonna stay here and be lied to! God, mom, it's never gonna stop, is it? I knew I couldn't trust you. I can't believe I wasted my time listening to you!
******************************************************************************
Erica: I can't believe your dad invited me to this dinner party.
Rick: Well, he wants to thank you for taking care of little Eric.
Erica: Well, Rick, I'm his nanny. I mean, that's my job.
Rick: He doesn't see it that way. And neither do I.
Erica: You know, he's really worried about you. Your mom is, too.
Rick: You know, that reminds me -- don't you think you should call your mother again?
Erica: You're avoiding the subject.
Rick: So are you.
Erica: My mom said yes. She'll be there.
Rick: Come on, Erica, she's let you down before.
Erica: Trust me, Rick, she's not gonna pass up the opportunity to meet your family. This is going to blow her mind. She really respects you.
Rick: Well, I hope she's more blown away by how much we respect you. That's why my dad's throwing this shindig.
Erica: It's not all for me.
Rick: Yes, Erica, it is. You're the guest of honor. You have helped Eric and I through some really rough times. You've been amazing.
Erica: No, you have -- you and your whole family. I mean, the way that your dad talked to me today -- he was really concerned about me.
Rick: Of course he was.
Erica: And like I said, he's worried about you, too.
Rick: I'm gonna be fine. We both are.
Erica: You know what? On second thought, maybe I should go to my mom's house just to make sure she doesn't flake out.
Rick: Okay. All right. And then I'll come by later and pick you guys up and bring you to the party, all right?
Erica: You don't have to do that.
Rick: Of course I do, Erica. This is your night. You're not gonna be treated like the hired help. You're one of the family.
*****************************************************************************
Sheila: You're right. What was I thinking? I can't go to this party.
Ziggy: No, you can't.
Sheila: I was caught off guard, Ziggy. I was so confused just hearing Eric's voice.
Ziggy: So you outta be damn glad he didn't recognize yours.
Sheila: Oh, this is terrible. What was I thinking? I can't go to this party. And now they're expecting me. And Erica -- I've let her down so many times already.
Ziggy: Don't get any ideas, huh? I mean, this isn't a costume party we're talking about. The minute you walk into that house, everyone's gonna know who you are.
Sheila: The minute I walk into that house, they're calling the police.
Ziggy: What, and give you a chance to get away? Huh-uh. They'll probably hog-tie you and drag you to the station themselves.
Sheila: This could be one of the most significant nights of Erica's life.
Ziggy: "Could be"? It absolutely will be if you go to that party. I mean, it's a hell of a way to find out your mom's a fugitive.
Sheila: She's not gonna find out anything.
Ziggy: Sheila, she's in with the Forresters now. She's living in Rick's house. Trying to keep this secret could get very, very complicated.
Sheila: Yeah, well, you know what? My identity is a lot more than a complication, Ziggy. It's a liability for me and my daughter.
Ziggy: Yes, it is. And you know what? You're not helping things by chit-chatting with your ex-husband.
Sheila: I wasn't chatting! Eric invited me to dinner, and I accepted. It was a knee-jerk reaction.
Ziggy: Well, you better find a way to unjerk it, or that reaction of yours is gonna come back --
Sheila: You know, thanks so much for the news flash, Ziggy! You have been oh so helpful!
Ziggy: Sorry, okay? I'm sorry. What do you want to do?
Sheila: I want to go to the party. I want to see the Forresters honoring my little girl. I want to hear them say how special she is. And I know it's not possible. I expose my identity and I go to prison, my daughter becomes a pariah, just another story in a tabloid in a long line of Forrester scandals. I can't -- I can't do that to her, Ziggy. I can't let my past destroy my daughter's future.
Ziggy: I think you have a lot of thinking to do. I'm just gonna get out of here.
***********************************************************************
Erica: Mom? Hey.
Sheila: Erica, what -- what are you doing home?
Erica: What do you mean? I'm here to pick you up for the party.
*************************************************************************
Brooke: Bridget -- it's not what you think.
Bridget: What happened, mother? What, did you get so excited to see me you forgot to cancel your date?
Brooke: I didn't know he was going to be here. I didn't even know he was in town!
Deacon: Bridget, it's the truth. She didn't know.
Bridget: Is that what she told you to say?
Deacon: I don't talk to your mother.
Bridget: Would you stop lying?
Deacon: For once, I'm not.
Bridget: You just swore to me that I would never have to see his face again, that he was out of our lives. But he wasn't. What, were you just lying low until I finally broke down and forgave her? Did you think I'd forgive you, too? That I would realize what a huge sacrifice you'd made for me? What did you think, deacon?! What'd you think? You could just put your relationship on hold for a few months, you know, give me a chance to heal, and you could just jump right back into it?!
Deacon: Bridget, no -- nobody's jumping back into anything here.
Bridget: That's why you came back here, isn't it? To see if the coast was clear?
Deacon: No.
Bridget: Well, I know you didn't stop by to check up on us. You didn't even know I was here.
Brooke: Deacon, I'm sorry. I thought we understood each other. If you came back to see your daughter --
Deacon: I didn't come back to see my daughter, Brooke. I don't have a daughter.
********************************************************************************
Marta: I have your jacket, Mr. Forrester.
Rick: Thank you, Marta.
Marta: You look very handsome. I've missed your smile.
Rick: Yeah, so have I.
Marta: Miss Lovejoy has brought it back. That's why your father is throwing her this party.
Rick: Well, our family really hasn't had anything to celebrate lately.
Marta: Miss Lovejoy has been good for you and your son. She's made you both very happy.
Rick: Yeah. She's great with him, isn't she?
Marta: I hear them laughing all over the house. It's wonderful. I have so much fun when they help me. Miss Lovejoy is teaching Eric how to fold his clothes and make his bed. She's a lovely young woman, Mr. Forrester. You and little Eric are lucky to have her.
Rick: Yes, we are, Marta. Yes, we are.
*****************************************************************************
Sheila: Come here, let me see you. How -- how are you feeling?
Erica: I'm good.
Sheila: Well, how's it been going? How do you like living with Rick?
Erica: Mom, it is incredible. I mean, he's so sweet. He must have gotten that from his dad. I can't believe Mr. Forrester's throwing me a party tonight.
Sheila: Oh, sweetheart, you deserve it. You've become a very important part of their family.
Erica: I'm just the baby-sitter.
Sheila: No. No, not tonight. I -- i got something for you. I've been saving it. I dug it out -- a special occasion.
Erica: Oh, Mom!
Sheila: I know it's not a Forrester original. But it won't be long before you're wearing one of those.
Erica: Oh, god, Mom. It's -- it's gorgeous.
Sheila: Well, I've got the shoes and the jewelry to go with it back there.
Erica: Mom, we can't afford this.
Sheila: Oh, it's okay. I had a little extra cash laying around.
Erica: Yeah, but you're not working. I mean, you should have saved that for yourself.
Sheila: Sweetheart, I'd spend my last dime on you if it made you happy. You're the most important thing in my life, Erica. And I know you feel like I've let you down a lot lately. And I know you don't appreciate my encouraging your relationship with Rick.
Erica: Look, Mom, if this is just another one of your twisted pep talks, I don't know --
Sheila: No. No, it's -- it's not a pep talk. Look, you know what you want. And I don't have to tell you how to get it. I've already helped you all I can, Erica. And now it's up to you. So you put this dress on, and you walk into Eric Forrester's house like you belong. 'Cause you really do.
Erica: Thank you.
Sheila: Oh, I'm just -- I'm so proud of you, baby. I just -- I want tonight to be so special for you. It's gonna be one of the most exciting nights of your life.
Erica: Yours, too! Mr. Forrester is so excited to meet you, Mom. Come on. I'm gonna go get dressed, okay? You get ready, too. Rick's gonna be here soon.
Sheila: Rick is coming here?
Erica: Yeah. He's gonna drive us to the party.
***************************************************************************************
Bridget: What do you mean you don't have a daughter?
Deacon: She's yours now, Brooke. You have two incredible daughters. And I don't want to upset either one of them. I've already screwed things up enough. I've wrecked my marriage. And I've destroyed the bond between a mother and her daughter. And even if you two could forgive me, I'm never gonna forgive myself. Bridget, that's why I'm here. I'm leaving L.A., For good this time. But before I go, I just wanted to apologize for everything.
Bridget: You came here to apologize?
Deacon: Yes.
Bridget: To my mother?
Deacon: And to you.
Brooke: Deacon, maybe this isn't the best time.
Deacon: Yeah, well, it's either now or never, Brooke, 'cause -- I ain't coming back to L.A.
Brooke: You're really going?
Deacon: It's what we decided was best for you and for the children.
Brooke: Well, I appreciate the gesture, but you really don't have to apologize to me.
Deacon: Yes, I do. Brooke, I stole something from you. I stole something precious. And it is breaking my heart to see the way that Bridget's looking at you. Hell, I never deserved either one of you. You are both such -- such amazing women. And I just hope that you can repair the damage that I've done. Bridget, I think it would be really incredible if -- if you could play a role in this little girl's life.
Bridget: You really don't want to see her?
Deacon: I can't. You know, if I see her, I'm just -- I'm not gonna be able to leave. And I do have to leave.
Brooke: Yes, you do.
Deacon: There's just one more thing before i leave.
Bridget: What?
Deacon: I know that you can never forgive me, and I would never ask you to. Bridget, I wish to god that you could forgive your mother. You're family, and there is nothing more important than family. You should take care of each other -- all three of you.
*************************************************************************************
Sheila: Rick is coming here. I gotta get out of here. He can't see me.
Erica: Mom, I'm ready. Well, what do you think?
Sheila: Oh, Erica, it's perfect. You are so beautiful.
Erica: Wait, where's your dress? Mom, why aren't you getting ready?
Sheila: I'm -- I'm gonna go down to the drugstore because I ran out of mascara.
Erica: Well, why don't you just use mine? Rick's gonna be here any second.
Sheila: Oh, no, you guys -- you guys just go on ahead without me. I'll catch up.
Erica: You don't even know where to go, Mom.
Sheila: Just give me the address, I'll find it.
[ Knock at the door ]
Erica: That's Rick right now. Come on!
Sheila: You guys go on to the party. I'll catch up.
Erica: Where are you going?
Sheila: I'm gonna get ready, because I'm late.
Erica: What -- Rick, hi. Come on in.
Rick: These are for your mother.
Erica: Oh, that's so sweet of you.
Rick: Is she here?
Erica: Yeah, she's in the bathroom getting ready. Mom, Rick's here. Do you wanna come out and say hi?
Rick: Hello, Mrs. Lovejoy!
Erica: She's running a little late. She wants us to go without her.
Rick: Oh, no, that's okay. There's no rush. We can just -- we can just wait here.
Erica: I'll try to hurry her. Mom, Rick's gonna wait for you!
Sheila: No. No, you guys go on without me. I don't want to hold you up.
Erica: He brought you flowers. I mean, don't you want to come out and thank him?
Sheila: I can't. I'm not ready yet.
Erica: Well, come on, mom. Hurry up, we don't want to leave without you.
Rick: Yeah, that's right. My family is really looking forward to meeting you, especially my dad.
