C.J.: All right, you guys, what is going on here?

Bridget: We're having a nice, romantic evening. Isn't that what you wanted?

C.J.: He was kissing you.

Bridget: Uh-huh.

C.J.: Well, you guys hardly know each other.

Bridget: Well, C.J., You're the one who set me up with him.

Darla: Oh, that is true, Ceej. That's true.

Bridget: And you said he was your friend.

C.J.: Well, he is --

Bridget: He seems like a very nice guy.

Scott: I am a nice guy.

C.J.: That's not the point.

Scott: Wait a minute; I thought that was the point. She needed to see that there's still nice guys in the world. Right?

Darla: That is what you said.

C.J.: Right, right! But it was suppose to be just a date, okay? Some dinner, some conversation, that's it.

Bridget: You didn't think I'd find him attractive?

C.J.: Well, yeah, sure -- I mean --

Bridget: Oh, oh, you didn't think he'd find me attractive?

C.J.: No. I mean, yes, of course.

Bridget: What exactly were you expecting, C.J.?

Darla: Come on, Scott. Let me buy you a cup of coffee -- someplace else.

Scott: Sounds good.

C.J.: Scott, dude, wait -- where are you guys going?

*******************************

Rick: Hey, buddy, come here. Oh, I missed you. So did you have fun today? Did you get to play with your cousins?

Amber: Thomas is teaching him how to dive.

Rick: Really, head first? That's pretty cool pal. Give me five. All right.

Amber: We stopped by earlier, but you were still at the hospital. So we went back to taylor's and made some cookies.

Rick: Oh, wow. That sounds like a busy day, huh?

Amber: Yeah, I thought he'd crash out in the car, but he's still wired.

Little Eric: Racer, daddy.

Rick: Racer?

Amber: What is that? You've been talking about it that all day.

Rick: Oh, actually, I bought him a remote-control race car.

Amber: Oh.

Rick: I think it's in the kitchen. I think that's where we left it. You want to show it to mommy? Here, go get it. Okay, pal? [ Amber sighs ] You know, you could've kept him overnight.

Amber: Um, I probably would've, but Ridge is coming home tomorrow. And I think he's gonna freak out when he finds out I'm staying there.

Rick: What, you mean he doesn't know yet?

Amber: I think Taylor just didn't want to get into it with him over the phone.

Rick: Well -- what are you gonna do?

Amber: Well, I was hoping I could come back home.

**************************************************************************************

[ Bridget sighs ]

C.J.: What?

Bridget: What?

C.J.: I don't get it, Bridget. Here, I go and try to do something nice for you --

Bridget: Oh, are you sure you did it for me? Not just so you could spy on us from around the corner?

C.J.: I wasn't spying on you.

Bridget: Oh, give it up, C.J.! I saw you! It looked like it made you a little upset -- me kissing your friend.

C.J.: No, it didn't. It didn't, okay? I was just concerned. Bridget, stop. Where are you going?

Bridget: Are you gonna be honest with me? Or do you even know how?

C.J.: You know, I don't know what you're so upset about.

Bridget: Oh, you don't?

C.J.: No, I don't. You know, I went through a lot of trouble here.

Bridget: Well, you shouldn't have bothered!

C.J.: Well, believe me, I won't do it again.

Bridget: Good! You know, C.J., If you didn't want to go out with me, you could've just said so. You didn't have to round up somebody else --

C.J.: Wait, Bridget, not want to go out with you? What are you talking about? That's not what this is about. I mean, look, I'm not ready to go out with anyone.

Bridget: What makes you think I am?

C.J.: Well, you're here aren't you? I mean, you're all dressed up.

Bridget: Yeah, because you tricked me!

C.J.: Bridget, this was supposed to be a surprise. You know, like the party that you threw for me?

Bridget: Yeah, well, it worked. I'm surprised.

C.J.: Look, Budge --

Bridget: Don't call me that. The only people who can call me that are the people who know me well. And anybody who thinks I'd enjoy being lied to at this point in my life does not know me.

C.J.: Bridget, wait! I get it, okay? I mean, I didn't -- I didn't know that you wouldn't want me -- look, I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry.

****************************************************************************

Rick: Look, Amber --

Amber: I know -- I know, you're upset about what happened -- the fight I had with Erica.

Rick: You put her in the hospital.

Amber: It was an accident.

Rick: So, in other words, it's not your fault. And you going home with Lance, that's not your fault either. Come on, Amber, you've got to realize how this looks!

Amber: I know how it looks. I do realize this. But I also realize that we are a family. And you, me and Eric, we should be together. And, yes -- yes, we have problems. We have serious problems. I'm not asking you to overlook that.

Rick: You're not?

Amber: No. But don't you think we can work on them better if we're in the same house? God, I miss you so much.

Rick: I miss you, too, Amber. But I can't -- I can't fall back into that.

Amber: Why not?

Rick: Because it doesn't get us anywhere! Sure, it would be great if you moved back in for a while. You know, but the next time you do something that's not your fault --

Amber: There's not gonna be a next time. But you don't believe that, do you?

Rick: How can I?

Amber: Well, um -- well, what if I don't move back into our room? I could stay in the guest room, and then I'd be here for Eric. But you and I, we're not gonna pretend like there's nothing wrong.

Rick: No, Amber, that's not gonna work.

Amber: Why not?

[ Rick sighs ]

Rick: Because that's where Erica's staying.

Amber: Erica is staying here?

Rick: Look, Amber, Erica needs someone to take care of her. She's not getting along with her mom right now. And right or wrong, I felt responsible. I'm the one that got her into this mess. And I know what you're gonna say.

Amber: Rick, it's okay. I am not happy about it, obviously. But I understand. You have no reason to distrust her right now, and you have every reason not to trust me. I shouldn't be here anyway. I mean, as much as I want to, I think it would kill me. Just to see you look at me like that like you don't know who I am, what I'm gonna do next. It's just me, the one who loves you, the one who'd do anything for you. And when I do come back home, it's gonna because you want me back, because you believe in me again. And that's what I working for -- that day. And I'm not gonna give up until it's here. She's just a teenage kid. She can't compete with what we have. She can't even understand it. So I'm not gonna worry about Erica putting the moves on you. I have faith in you and us -- like you've done for me so many times before. I guess it's my turn, right?

Rick: You know, Amber -- I never really am sure of what you're gonna do next. But I guess that's not always a bad thing.

[ Laughter ]

Amber: Wow! Is that your car? Let me see this. Oh, wow! How does this work?

Rick: Buddy, why don't you show your mom how that works, okay?

Amber: Let me see! Let me see!

Rick: Oop! Those lady drivers, they have no idea what they're doing.

Amber: Oh, can you believe him? Come here! Come here. Oh, you're daddy's tough. Let's get him! Ha, ha!

Rick: She can't drive. She's never gonna --

Amber: He doesn't know what he's talkin' about. Crazy daddy. You've got a crazy daddy. Crazy daddy. Get your daddy -- daddy, daddy, daddy.

Rick: Oh, yeah, I'm scared.

Amber: Yeah, yeah, well, I just gotta figure out what I just did --

[ Laughter ]

Rick: You don't know what you're doing, do you?

Amber: No, I haven't figured it out.

*****************************************************************************

C.J.: I really was just trying to do something nice for you. It's supposed to be Hawaii.

Bridget: Yes, C.J., I know its Hawaii.

C.J.: Yeah, I guess it is kind of obvious, huh? And I guess I shouldn't have sprung it on you like that. You know? But it's not like Scott is just some guy off the street. He's my friend. And he's a good guy. He's -- you know, he's the type of guy you can take home to mom. What?

Bridget: Nothing. [ Bridget laughs ] Never mind. You know what? Let's just forget about this whole night, okay?

C.J.: Bridget, wait!

Bridget: What? What were you thinking, C.J.? Please tell me. "Boy, it's a good thing I'm around because otherwise, Bridget could never get a date."

C.J.: You're missing the point!

Bridget: Yeah, maybe I am missing the point. Because, C.J., what was supposed to make me so happy about spending my entire evening with a total stranger? And you know what? For your information, I'm not looking for a man.

C.J.: Okay. I'm sorry. Look, I just thought that Scott would be perfect for you. You know, he's smart. He's down to earth. You're not gonna have to worry about any -- baggage or head trips with a guy like that. I mean, isn't that what you want? Isn't that what everybody wants? But then again, you know, I could be wrong. Maybe I'm an idiot. Maybe you're just holding out for another bad boy to play with your head and break your heart all over again.

Bridget: Or maybe -- maybe, C.J., I just wanted to spend tonight with a good friend. Good night.

*************************************************************************************

[ Phone dialing ]

Bridget: Betsy, you're not gonna believe this.

Betsy: What happened?

Bridget: C.J. is such a jerk. I get downstairs and the whole place is set up to look like Hawaii.

Betsy: Hawaii?

Bridget: Where I was supposed to spend the summer.

Betsy: Oh, how sweet!

Bridget: Well, it could've been.

Betsy: Did he say something wrong?

Bridget: He wasn't even there. He sent someone else.

Betsy: What?

Bridget: It was a blind date, Betsy. He wanted to set me up with one of his random friends.

Betsy: That's so weird.

Bridget: No, no, weird was when he started spying on us to see what was going on.

Betsy: Why would he do that?

Bridget: Uh, I don't know. Because he's a total head case.

Betsy: Did you talk to him?

Bridget: Yeah.

Betsy: And what did he say?

Bridget: Um, he didn't understand why I was so upset. He thought Scott was perfect for me.

Betsy: I don't get it. Did we just really read him wrong? I thought he really liked you.

Bridget: Yeah, well, apparently not. Of course, I'm good enough to go out with one of his friends.

Betsy: Well, what was his friend like?

Bridget: He was fine.

Betsy: Not cute?

Bridget: No, he was cute and funny, smart.

Betsy: And this is the type of guy C.J. thinks is perfect for you? In a weird way, Bridget, it's kind of a compliment.

Bridget: Come on.

Betsy: No. No, Bridget, I'm serious.  Look, maybe the problem isn't that you're not good enough for C.J. Maybe he thinks that you're too good for him.

************************************************************************************

[ Door slams ]

C.J.: God, you know, you try and do something nice for somebody. Forget it. Forget it. That is the last time I ever try to do anything nice for her.

[ C.J. sighs ]

Bridget: I know, Betsy. I know.

********************************************************************************

Amber: I'm gonna say good night to you down here.

Little Eric: No!

Amber: Oh, it's okay. It's okay. You're gonna have so much fun. Do you know why? Because daddy is gonna read you a book about a curious little monkey, just like you. And then when you're done, you can have a cookie. Cookie, cookie, cookie.

Little Eric: Cookie!

Amber: Yes. And Daddy can have one, too.

Rick: I don't know about that. I've had your cooking before.

Amber: No, you'll like this. And there is one in there meant especially for you.

Rick: Well, how do I know which one?

Amber: Oh, you'll know. It's the one that's hot.

Rick: Still? How long ago did you bake these?

Amber: Good night, sweetheart.

Rick: So you guys made these, huh? Well, let's take a look, shall we? Yeah, that's -- that's definitely hot, all right. Your mom's silly, you know that?
