Amber: I didn't mean to hurt her. I just wanted her to leave us alone.
Rick: How are you doing?
Erica: I'm tired. Is my mom here?
Rick: Not yet. But don't worry. I'm sure she's on her way.
Sheila: Excuse me, do you -- do you work on this floor?
Nurse: Yes.
Sheila: I was hoping you could tell me something about the young woman in that room.
Nurse: I can't give you that information.
Sheila: I'm her mother.
Nurse: I'm sorry.
Sheila: I know she has a head injury. I just want to know how serious it is.
Nurse: You'll have to discuss that with her doctor.
Sheila: You've seen her chart. You have to know something, please.
Nurse: She was unconscious when the paramedics brought her in. She's awake now, but the doctor's still waiting on the results of her C.A.T. Scan. That's all I can tell you.
Sheila: Thank you.

P.A.: Paging Dr. Stateman, Dr. Stateman, please.
Betsy: Really? You heard him say that?
Bridget: He was telling his mom's assistant all about it.
Betsy: Your boss is planning a surprise dinner party for you?
Bridget: A surprise dinner for two.
Betsy: How romantic.
Bridget: I don't know. I think he just wanted to do something nice for me.
Betsy: Hello! He called it a "perfect date."
Bridget: I'm sure he was being sarcastic.
Betsy: I wish somebody would sling that kind of sarcasm at me. What's he going to do next, huh? Insult you with a dozen roses?
Bridget: Betsy, C.J. And I just don't have that kind of relationship. I mean, we grew up together. And I threw him the surprise party. This could just be his way of thanking me.
Betsy: Then why did you call me down here? If it's no big deal, then why are you getting so excited about it?
***********************************************************************************
Scott: Hey, Ceej.
C.J.: Hey, Scott, you made it. Great, man.
Scott: Yeah. Like I told you, you need a favor, I'm there.
C.J.: Right on. I appreciate it. Look, trust me, this isn't going to be like that time when Howie asked you to take his cousin out.
Scott: Oh, she wasn't that bad. She had a great sense of humor.
C.J.: You're a nice guy. Actually, this girl is -- she's the whole package, man. I think you're really going to like her.
Scott: Right. Is she here?
C.J.: She is. Right over there. The redhead.
Scott: Are you kidding me? I thought I was supposed to be doing you a favor.
C.J.: Uh, so you'll do it?
Scott: Yeah.
C.J.: Well, good. Good. 'Cause I think this dinner is exactly what Bridget needs.
*************************************************************************************
Erica: I didn't tell my mom what floor I was on. What if she can't find me?
Rick: I'm sure they have all your information at admitting.
[ Erica sighing ]
Erica: I'm afraid she's not coming.
Rick: Hey, Erica, of course she is. You told her you were at the hospital.
Erica: She said she was on a date.
Rick: You mean she finally met somebody?
Erica: I guess so.
Rick: But still, she has to be worried about you. Look, I'll stay here as long as they'll let me.
Erica: Thank you, Rick. I'm glad that you're here. I don't want you to think that I'm not -- it's just that --
Rick: I know. It doesn't matter how old you are, sometimes you just need your mom.
*************************************************************************************
Taylor: Amber?
Amber: Taylor, thank god you're here.
Taylor: I got your message. What is going on?
Amber: I don't know. That's what I'm trying to figure out.
**************************************************************************************
Bridget: C.J.'s putting a lot of work into this, whatever it is.
Betsy: Date.
Bridget: I do feel kind of bad, though.
Betsy: Why? Because you snag all the hot boys and don't leave any for the rest of us?
Bridget: C.J. Told Darla he wanted to cheer me up because he thinks I'm all bummed out about this summer, and you know what? I'm not.
Betsy: You're not?
Bridget: No. No. He asked how I was doing, and I had just had this intense conversation with my brother about his marriage breaking up and my marriage breaking up, and I just kind of went off on him about how I was supposed to be in Hawaii right now modeling for the ambrosia line.
Betsy: So?
Bridget: So, I shouldn't be taking this out on him.
Betsy: Bridget, you're entitled to have a bad day every once in a while.
Bridget: Yeah, well, I'd be having a lot more of them if it wasn't for C.J. He's really been there for me.
Betsy: Oh, come on. I remember when you first started working here. He got his jabs in.
Bridget: Betsy, there's a lot of bad blood between the two families. And, you know, when you think about it, that's what makes it so much more amazing that he's been so supportive. I mean, between giving me the job and a place to stay, and instead of being grateful, there I am complaining to him.
Betsy: Well, he can't be too angry about it if he's planning this big dinner for you. Maybe -- maybe he's so madly in love with you he's willing to overlook your foul temper.
Bridget: Betsy, would you cut it out? We're just friends.
Betsy: Really?
Bridget: Yes, really.
Betsy: Okay, good.
Bridget: What do you mean "good"?
Betsy: Well, I wasn't going to say anything if you were into him, but I think he's way cute. Maybe you can set us up.
Bridget: You and C.J.?
Betsy: Yeah. Ask him about it tomorrow.
Bridget: No.
Betsy: Why not?
Bridget: Well, I just think it's -- it's inappropriate.
Betsy: Inappropriate?
Bridget: Yes. Yeah, for me to set him up with someone else when we're, you know --
Betsy: On a date? Bridget, you are so into this guy. Don't even tell me you're not.
*************************************************************************************************
Scott: Why does she look so familiar?
C.J.: Well, she used to model.
Scott: You're setting me up with a model?
C.J.: Well, yeah, ex-model, actually. I think she's going back to school in the fall. Premed?
Scott: Wow. You weren't kidding about the whole package. I don't get it. Why aren't you taking her out?
C.J.: That -- that would be a really bad idea.
Scott: I knew it. There's got to be something wrong with her, right?
C.J.: No. No, no, no. She's great, okay? She's -- she's really great. She's just -- she's been through a lot this summer. Her ex-husband's kind of a jerk. So -- so I want her to go out with somebody's who's cool and nice, who's going to appreciate her.
Scott: And that's not you?
C.J.: Look, Scott, I'm just not ready to start dating, okay?
Scott: You gotta get back in the water sooner or later, man.
C.J.: I know, and I will, eventually. But for right now, why don't you just consider my loss to be your gain, okay?
Scott: All right, works for me. Thanks.
C.J.: Thanks.
*************************************************************************************
Amber: I didn't mean to hurt her, I swear. I just -- I just wanted to leave.
Taylor: Amber, Amber, wait. Now, calm down. Just tell me what happened?
Amber: Okay, I was in Rick's office, and then Erica came in --
Taylor: And you had an argument?
Amber: Yeah, yeah, she knows I'm on to her. Rick told her, and she was just furious.
Taylor: Wait, wait, wait. Are you saying she admitted to drugging you at the party?
Amber: No, no, no, of course not. She denied the whole thing. And then I was trying to leave, and then she grabbed me. And I didn't know what she was going to do, and so I freaked out. And I just -- I just wanted her to get off of me. And so -- and then she fell and she hit her head on the desk.
Taylor: Oh.
Amber: Now -- now Rick is in there with her and he blames me. All I wanted to do was go home.
Taylor: I know, I know. But, honey, I told you to stay away from Erica.
Amber: Just -- just look at them. Look at them. She's totally milking it. When I think about everything that's happened, me -- me blacking out at the party, waking up at lance's, and then him dying before he could tell me what really happened. You know, I just -- I just can't believe this is all a coincidence. Erica, she's involved somehow. And she acts like this sweet little angel, when -- when it's all her fault everything is happening.
Taylor: Well, we don't have any proof of that.
Amber: Who else could it be? Who else stands to gain from everything I'm losing?
***************************************************************************************
Rick: Do you want me to call your mother again?
Erica: No.
Rick: Well, I'm sure that she's on her way. Did she mention where she was coming from?
Erica: Rick, it's okay. I mean, she's done this kind of thing before. I've gotten used to it.
Rick: What, are you saying that she's not going to show up?
Erica: I know that she loves me a lot. She just -- she gets her priorities mixed up sometimes.
Rick: Erica, you're in the hospital. You need her right now.
Erica: Yeah, I do.
Rick: You know what? I'm gonna try calling her again.
Erica: No, don't. It's -- she doesn't like people interfering with her plans.
Rick: Erica, she's your mother. She should be here for you.
Erica: That's what my soccer coach said when she missed our league championships. She told him that I had to learn how to win without anyone's approval. I was 10.
Rick: You were 10?
Erica: I understand. She means well. She wants me to learn how to take care of myself. Be strong, be a fighter. But sometimes I just want somebody to tell me that everything is going to be okay. Like somebody I can always count on. Somebody's who's going to be there for me, no matter what.
Rick: I'm here for you, Erica. And I'm not going anywhere.
Nurse: The cafeteria's through these doors to the right.
Taylor: Come on.
**********************************************************************************
C.J.: So, feeling better?
Bridget: Yeah. Sorry about earlier.
C.J.: Ah, don't worry about it. If anybody knows anything about being upset and crabby, I think it's me.
Bridget: Well, that's true.
C.J.: Uh, hey, um, do you have any plans for tomorrow night?
Bridget: Not yet.
C.J.: So, you'll be free around 7:30?
Bridget: I could be. What'd you have in mind?
C.J.: Guess you'll just have to be here to find out.
Bridget: A surprise? Okay, I'll be here.
C.J.: Great.
*****************************************************************************************
Sheila: Oh, what did that monster do to you? Erica -- sweetheart, I'm right here. I'm here, baby. And I promise you, you're going to be just fine. And I won't let anyone hurt you ever again. Oh, I wish I could stay here with you, baby, but I can't. I love you so much.
Rick: Is she okay?
Sheila: She's going to be fine.
Rick: Good. Good, I was -- I was kind of worried about her. She's -- she's been upset. Her mom was supposed to come. And I'm getting the feeling that she's not going to show up.
Sheila: She's going to need all the support she can get for awhile.
Rick: Yeah. I'd like to stay with her if I can.
Sheila: I think that's a good idea. She shouldn't be alone.
Rick: Well, she won't be alone. I'll look after her.
Sheila: She's very lucky to have you.
Doctor: How's our patient doing?
Sheila: I just checked her vitals. She's doing better.
Doctor: She's a strong young woman.
Rick: Yes, she is.
Sheila: Excuse me, I have another patient.
Rick: Thank you.
Doctor: I have good news, Rick. Erica's tests came back negative. X-ray and C.A.T. Scan show no fractures, no tissue or blood vessel damage.
Rick: Really? Well, what about the swelling? You mentioned something earlier --
Doctor: No, there's no evidence of any major cerebral trauma.
Rick: So, she's all right?
Doctor: Well, with a little care and recuperation, Erica's going to be just fine. We'll be releasing her tomorrow.
Rick: Well, you don't have to worry about anything. I'm gonna make sure she has everything she needs.
****************************************************************************************
Taylor: Amber, there's nothing you can do right now.
Amber: Well, I can't necessarily leave her alone with him. I mean, who knows what she's telling him.
Taylor: Well, you certainly aren't going to fix this situation with another confrontation, especially if Rick already thinks you deliberately tried to hurt her.
Amber: But I didn't. I didn't do anything, okay? She is just mixing everything all -- we have to do something. You didn't see the way Rick looked at me. And then the second she woke up, he just jumped by her side. She's behind everything. I know she is. I mean, look at the way she weaseled her way into Rick's life, and now she's sucking up to my son.
Taylor: Yeah, but that doesn't prove anything. And even if she is using the situation, it doesn't mean that she caused it.
Amber: It's her, Taylor. It has to be.
Taylor: All right, now you have to stay on track, Amber. Just stay focused, all right? You need to find out exactly what lance did to you, and why he did it. That is the only way you're going to be able to work things out with Rick.
Amber: Okay. You're right. I stay focused.
Taylor: Okay, now, I need to get home. Are you going to be all right?
Amber: Yeah. Yeah, I'll be fine. I'll see you later.
Taylor: No more confrontations. Okay.
Amber: Can I help you?
Sheila: You stay away from that girl. Do you hear me? Don't you ever go anywhere near her again!
