Massimo: I'm afraid I didn't catch your name.

Sheila: I didn't drop it.

Massimo: Very good.

Sheila: Thank you.

Waitress: Can I get anything for you, sir?

Massimo: What are you having?

Sheila: The merlot.

Massimo: Is that a particular favorite?

Sheila: No.

Massimo: I tell you what. Take this back and bring us a bottle of the De Rigas cabernet. Make it the '98.

Waitress: Right away.

Massimo: Thank you.

Sheila: Well -- a whole bottle. That's rather confident.

Massimo: No, not at all. Insurance -- it's a very good wine. This way, I know you'll stick around if my conversation bores you.

Sheila: Well, somehow I don't think boredom is gonna be a problem for either one of us.

******************************************************************************

Rick: You got Eric down already?

Erica: Oh, no, he's just finishing up his ice cream. I actually -- I wanted to ask you something.

Rick: Shoot.

Erica: How would you feel if I took Eric to visit Zende at the beach?

Rick: That'd be great.

Erica: Really? I mean, I know you haven't exactly been really happy with Tony lately.

Rick: Well, it doesn't matter how I feel about Tony. The fact is Eric and Zende are cousins and they should hang out. Was this Kristen's idea?

Erica: No.

Rick: Oh, so this was your idea?

Erica: Well, yeah. I'm kind of feeling guilty about Zende.

Rick: Because he's madly in love with you?

Erica: No, he's not. God, is he?

Rick: Why wouldn't he be? An older woman, wiser, more experienced and she plays chess. What more could a man want?

Erica: Stop teasing me.

Rick: Stop worrying. Zende will recover.

Erica: I know. It's not that.

Rick: Then what is it?

Erica: Well -- I kind of used him. I wanted to meet amber, and -- and I could tell that he -- you know, he had a thing for me.

Rick: Oh, you shameless hussy.

Erica: Rick, stop it.

Rick: Okay. All right, I'm sorry. I can see that this is really bothering you, but i honestly don't think it did any harm.

Erica: You don't think he knows why I was being nice to him?

Rick: You don't -- you don't think he worked the Forrester connection? I mean, come on. Who's the gullible one here?

Erica: I just -- I don't like the way it makes me look. It's the kind of thing that --

Rick: That what?

Erica: It's the kind of thing my mother would do.

Rick: Your mother picks up on 12-year-old boys?

Erica: She feels like the end justifies the means. And she uses people. God, the kind of things that she has pulled. Let's just say I wouldn't put anything past her.

****************************************************************************************

Taylor: Amber, hi.

Amber: Hi.

Taylor: How are you feeling?

Amber: It's little Eric's bedtime.

Taylor: Yeah, it must be hard for you.

Amber: Yeah. You know, it was okay when I was in rehab, because I knew I had to get better for him because I had to be a better mother, and -- but now -- there really is no reason why we should be apart. I should be with my family, and -- and I would be if lance hadn't done whatever is it -- whatever he did.

Taylor: Amber -- I want to ask you something, and I -- i know it's probably a little uncomfortable for you to talk about this.

Amber: What's that?

Taylor: Are you sure nothing happened when you were with lance? Because you woke up in his bed and you don't remember anything about that night.

Amber: No, he didn't touch me.

Taylor: Are you positive?

Amber: Yeah, because I woke up and I still had my bathing suit on. I know, it sounds like one of those stories you hear on the news. You know, a girl goes to a party, she leaves her drink unattended for a minute and --

Taylor: Did you do that?

Amber: Well, yeah. But I didn't think I had anything to worry about. I was at -- I was at a family party at my father-in-law's house. You know, and Rick, he gave that nice speech, and so I went over and I gave a hug to him and --

Taylor: How long before you came back to your drink?

Amber: Five or ten minutes.

Taylor: Well, that's long enough for someone to have tampered with it.

Amber: I know. I thought about that, too, that I may have been drugged.

Taylor: It would certainly explain the blackout.

Amber: Yeah, but it sounds crazy. I mean, those kind of things, they happen at clubs or wild parties, not at Eric Forrester's swimming pool. And I was a guest of honor. How could lance even think that he would have gotten away with that? And then why would he? Why would he do that and then not do anything with me once he got home?

Taylor: There are holes in the theory, i admit. But you seem really sure that lance was lying to you about the tequila shots, and you know that you were feeling really strange after you drank the one glass of wine. I don't know what else it could be. Maybe he chickened out once he got you home. I don't know. But it's definitely worth looking into.

Amber: How, Taylor? The only one that knows what happened is Lance, and he's dead.

Taylor: If you were drugged, it could still be in your system. Let's go get you tested.

Amber: So I could get a drug test and prove that's what happened to me?

Taylor: Amber, this whole scenario sounds like someone slipped a roofie in your drink.

Amber: A roofie?

Taylor: The date rape drug. The pharmaceutical name is Rohypnol. If it's combined with alcohol, it can cause a blackout that lasts from 8 to 24 hours.

Amber: That's it. That's exactly what happened to me.

Taylor: Well, it certainly makes a lot more sense than you passing out after one glass of wine.

Amber: Okay, when can I get tested?

Taylor: Oh, I wish I had thought of this earlier, but we can get a urine sample from you tonight, and then I can take you over there first thing in the morning.

Amber: Okay, we don't want any more time to pass. How long does this stuff stay in your system?

Taylor: Several days, usually.

Amber: So it's still there. So I can get the lab report and I'll take it to Rick.

Taylor: Amber, try not to get ahead of yourself here. We don't know for a fact that he used Rohypnol, and even if he did, it might not show up in the test.

Amber: No, he must have used a ton of the stuff, because after I had that drink it hit me hard, and there must still be some stuff floating around in my system. You know what this means? This means that I can go to Rick, and I can prove to him that this wasn't my fault. That means I could be home by this time tomorrow.

********************************************************************************

Rick: So you're worried about turning into your mother.

Erica: No. No, I'm never gonna be like that. But you know, sometimes she influences me without me even realizing it, and all of a sudden, I catch myself and I'm so embarrassed.

Rick: Well, give me an example.

Erica: Okay. You remember that night when amber went into rehab and I came over here and I was wearing that red dress?

Rick: Yeah.

Erica: That was her.

Rick: What, you mean your mother, like, possessed your body?

Erica: Don't laugh. It's not far from the truth. God, I came home that day and she had hair and makeup people waiting to make me over.

Rick: You're kidding.

Erica: And she bought me that red dress and she insisted that I wear it. And I did. I came over here looking like --

Rick: I think you looked nice.

Erica: Nice?

Rick: Well, nice isn't exactly the word for it, but attractive. I mean, at least your mother's got good taste.

Erica: She wanted me to seduce you.

Rick: Well, why didn't you?

Erica: You almost sound disappointed.

Rick: I'm just curious.

Erica: Yeah, well, I already told you, I'm not like her. I may slip up sometimes, but I am never, ever gonna cross that line.

Rick: Hmm. That's too bad.

Erica: Too bad?

Rick: I'm kidding. I'm just kidding.

*******************************************************************************************

Sheila: So what are you doing here?

Massimo: With you?

Sheila: At Las Olas. Now, clearly, this is not your scene.

Massimo: Actually, I came here with a friend. He works at the marina. And yourself?

Sheila: I wanted to go someplace I've never been.

Massimo: Ah. A sense of adventure. Either that -- or you're avoiding bad memories.

Erica: Look who I found.

Rick: I was wondering why he was so quiet.

Erica: Isn't he sweet?

Rick: And sticky. Look at him. He's got ice cream all over him.

Erica: I know. I was just gonna give him a bath tomorrow. I don't want to wake him up.

Rick: Here, let me take him.

Erica: It's okay. I've got him. Don't worry about it.

Rick: All right. You know, you're gonna make a really good mother someday.

Erica: Thank you. That means a lot to me. I worry about it.

Rick: Why? Because of your mother?

Erica: Yeah.

Rick: Well, you said she's not all bad.

Erica: No.

Rick: And she loves you, right?

Erica: Sometimes a little too much. But everything she does -- I know it's just because she wants to give me the kind of life she never had.

Rick: Sounds to me like your mom is living vicariously through you.

Erica: Yeah, something like that.

Rick: Well, then there's the answer to your problem. Get your mom a life.

Erica: What?

Rick: Yeah. Find her a guy. And that way, she'll be too busy to even worry about you. What?

Erica: It's nothing. I just -- I can't imagine any man who would be able to put up with my mother.

*********************************************************************************

Sheila: So -- what happened to your friend?

Massimo: He had to go home. He has an early day at the office tomorrow.

Sheila: Oh.

Massimo: He's the captain of a yacht, actually. And he's preparing a cruise around the world.

Sheila: Really? Well, that sounds exciting.

Massimo: Yes, I suppose.

Sheila: What, you don't think it is?

Massimo: You know, it's one of those things. Everyone talks about how wonderful it would be to sail around the world. But I bet you that if I offered that trip, all expenses paid, to everyone in this bar, not a one of them would take me up on it.

Sheila: What?

Massimo: In fact, I'd be willing to put money on that.

Sheila: Oh. Well, then, you'd lose your shirt, because that's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Massimo: So -- what you're saying is that if you had the chance, you'd go? Set sail tomorrow?

Sheila: No.

[ Massimo laughs ]

Massimo: Adventure, apparently, is best taken in small doses.

Sheila: No, no. It's -- it's nothing like that, really. I -- I'm a single mom. I've got responsibilities.

Massimo: As does everyone here, I'm sure. They've all got jobs, ties to the community, family. See, what I'm talking about is risk. And those few who are willing to take that risk, they are the ones who are squeezing the most satisfaction out of their lives.

Sheila: You've never raised children.

Massimo: No.

Sheila: I could tell. Because if you had, you'd know that there is no greater satisfaction than knowing you've done right by your children.

Massimo: I'm sure you've done right by yours.

Sheila: Yes. Yes, I have. And there are people that'll say I've gone a little overboard. But I have a beautiful, beautiful daughter. And she has a brilliant future ahead of her, and that's because of me. It wasn't easy. No. I -- I broke a few rules along the way. But I'll tell you what -- I'd do it all again.

*******************************************************************************

Taylor: You know, Amber, if you really were drugged, you're lucky lance didn't do something worse to you.

Amber: Lance did plenty. He broke up my marriage, took me away from my son, made me doubt myself right after I'd got out of rehab. The weird part about it all is -- he really did feel guilty.

Taylor: Which again makes you wonder why he did it in the first place.

Amber: I don't know. Maybe I'll never get the answers to that. But I don't really care. Because if I can prove to Rick that what happened wasn't my fault, that i was drugged and kidnapped and -- you know, I get my life back, and that's all I care about.

Taylor: Well, you're not gonna sleep too well, are you?

Amber: No. But it's okay. It's okay. I need to talk to Rick, anyway.

Taylor: Amber, no. You don't have any definite information yet.

Amber: At least I have an explanation, or I have part of one, which is all he wanted this entire time. Besides, Erica doesn't have any definite information, either, and that's not gonna stop her from trash-talking me. I will find out what happened. I'll get the answers. And I will not rest until I do.

************************************************************************************

[ Sheila laughs ]

Massimo: So how old is your daughter?

Sheila: Oh, gosh, she's nearly grown. It won't belong before I push her out of the nest and watch her take flight.

Massimo: And you're confident that she will soar.

Sheila: Yes, I am. Gosh, she has everything in the world going for her.

Massimo: She does indeed -- a mother who is passionately devoted to her interest.

Sheila: Yeah, well, she won't need me anymore.

Massimo: What will you do with yourself?

Sheila: I don't know. Maybe I'll go on a cruise around the world.

Massimo: Maybe you will. Salut.

Sheila: Salut.

*******************************************************************************************************

Taylor: Well, I'm gonna go on up to bed.

Amber: Taylor -- I just wanted to thank you for sticking by me -- especially when Stephanie and Rick wouldn't.

Taylor: Try not to get too upset with them.

Amber: No, no, I won't. I mean, I understand what it must have looked like what I did. And I also know how easy it would have been for you to write me off, too, but you didn't, and I really appreciate that.

Taylor: Get some sleep.

Amber: Good night.

Taylor: Good night.

*************************************************************************

[ Phone ringing ]

Erica: Forrester residence.

Amber: Erica?

Erica: Yes? Amber, is that you?

Amber: I need to talk to Rick.

Erica: Well -- he's not available right now.

Amber: What do you mean, he's not available? And what are you doing answering my phone?

Erica: Would you like me to take a message?

Amber: No. I want you to put Rick on the friggin' line.

Erica: Amber, have you been drinking?

Amber: Oh, my god.

What the hell is it with you, huh?

Erica: Look, I'm just your friend, okay? I'm trying to help you.

Amber: No, you're not. No, you're not. You are just loving this, aren't you, huh? Living in my life, huh? Living in my home with my husband and my son?

Erica: Amber, you should be glad.

Amber: Glad?

Erica: Look, Eric needs the kind of stability that you can't provide for him right now.

Amber: Yeah, so you're just more than happy to fill in, huh? You know what, Erica? Don't get too comfortable in my shoes. Because I'm going to want them back very, very soon, and then I'm going to use them to kick your butt right out the door. You want to talk trash to Rick about me? Go right ahead. It's only gonna make you look worse when the truth really comes out.

Erica: Amber, I'm not trash-talking you to Rick. In fact, we don't even talk about you anymore, because it hurts him too much. Look, if you loved him as much as you claim to, you would leave him alone. Good night, amber.

Amber: Tomorrow. Tomorrow, I'll set everything straight. Then she'll be the one on the outside, and I will be home with my family. Tomorrow.
