Bridget: Deacon, I don't understand. What -- what is he saying?

Brooke: Deacon, don't say that.

Deacon: It's true, Brooke. I love you. I mean, how could I not? You are an incredible, beautiful, passionate woman. And you're a wonderful mother. And I don't think that this guy can see that. And if he can't see it then, he doesn't deserve you.

Brooke: Don't worry about Whip.

Deacon: I'm not worried about Whip, I'm worried about you. Brooke, you don't know this guy.

Brooke: He's my husband.

Deacon: Gimme a break -- you said a couple pretty words in front of a minister. If there's no feeling to back these up, this isn't going to last. It's not gonna work.

Brooke: It will. We're committed to each other.

Deacon: I know that you want to do the right thing --

Brooke: Well, we have. And I don't regret it for a minute. We're going to give this child a wonderful life.

Deacon: Brooke, I want you to be absolutely certain about this. You be honest with yourself and you look inside. If the worst happens, if this doesn't work out, can you handle this? Good or bad. Failure or success. Can you deal with the consequences?

Bridget: What consequences? What are they talking about?

******************************************************************************************************

[ Knock on door ]

Ridge: Come in.

Taylor: Hello.

Ridge: Hey, doc. How was the shower?

Taylor: It was nice.

Ridge: Mother show up?

Taylor: Yes, she did. And she gave Brooke a lovely gift.

Ridge: Hmm, that's just like mother. She keeps her friends close and her enemies even closer. Guess that's a good thing when you want to keep the element of surprise going. What?

Taylor: We need to talk.

Ridge: I know what you're going to say. Brooke's pregnant. Rick's grieving. And Amber's in rehab. That family's got a lot of problems.

Taylor: And I feel for them. Especially Amber.

Ridge: Hey, well so do I. I'm not heartless, you know?

Taylor: No, but you've got problems of your own. This little attitude you've taken on. Mad at the world because you've been thrown out of your family's business. You're father's taken away your birthright and you're angry. And you want retribution.

Ridge: Does that bother you.

Taylor: It does.

Ridge: Think I'm being a jerk?

Taylor: Actually, seeing you compete with Forrester really kinda turns me on.

**********************************************************************************************************

Whip: No, Cindy, Deacon is not back yet. Yes, I will give him the message when he gets in. That and 50 others when he comes. Yeah, bye.

Megan: Don't start worrying again.

Whip: No, he's at the house with Brooke.

Megan: You don't know that. Maybe he took Bridget out to lunch.

Whip: She's not back yet either?

Megan: Well, the party was almost over when I left. So maybe she stuck around to clean up. Maybe she asked Deacon to help.

Whip: Oh, yeah. I bet he'd love that.

Megan: Whip, I'm telling you, Brooke is not going to mess this up. You should have seen her with Bridget today. They've never been closer.

Whip: So she enjoyed herself at the shower?

Megan: Yeah, everybody had a great time. And you got some wonderful gifts, too.

Whip: Excuse me, I got some wonderful gifts?

Megan: Excuse me, Brooke is not going to be the only one using these gifts, buster. You will be listening to that baby monitor just as much as she will.

***************************************************************************************

Bridget: What's going on, Mom? What are you talking about?

Brooke: This marriage is not going to fail.

Deacon: Brooke, there's no guarantees. You got to admit that.

Brooke: I have to do what's best for my children. That's my top priority. That's all I'm thinking about right now.

Deacon: So, I guess there is nothing else to say then.

Brooke: Oh, we're done?

Deacon: Yeah. Yeah, we're done.

Brooke: Bridget's the most important thing in my life. And I have to protect her. No matter what it takes. No matter what I have to sacrifice. I won't let her down.

Bridget: I don't get it. What does mom's marriage have to do with me?

*********************************************************************************************

Ridge: So, what I do here turns you on?

Taylor: Why wouldn't it?

Ridge: You've been pretty sympathetic toward Rick and Amber lately.

Taylor: Mm-hmm, I empathize with them, personally. But this is business. I think you have every right to fight for what you lost.

Ridge: Well, and here I thought you were going to give me a lecture.

Taylor: Oh, I'm going to give you something. But it isn't a lecture.

Ridge: And what part of my plan exactly turns you on the most?

Taylor: You really want to know?

Ridge: Oh, yeah.

Taylor: It's a little nasty.

Ridge: Oh, yeah. Now, I want to know more.

Taylor: Well, I've been married to Mr. Nice guy Forrester for so long. Sometimes I fantasize about what it would be like to be a love slave of a big powerful CEO of a tawdry little company like Spectra.

Ridge: You're bad.

Taylor: No, you're bad.

Ridge: No, you're bad.

Taylor: No, you're bad. You big corporate raider with your huge office, and your tight ships and your shamefully enormous -- self-portrait.

Ridge; you don't like my portrait?

Taylor: It doesn't do you justice.

[ Ridge laughs ] I mean, it does have the chiseled jaws and the blazing dark eyes.

Ridge: Oh, now I have blazing dark eyes, do I?

Taylor: Like a lion. Like a -- like a hungry lion ready to pounce on its unsuspecting prey.

Ridge: Yeah, well, what can I say? When I see something I want, I go after it.

Taylor: Well, I think the artist did capture that. That flowing mane and that fierce expression. But the jacket -- see the jacket covers up the best parts. Yeah, it covers up those big strong powerful shoulders.

Ridge: Hmm.

Taylor: And this rippling chest and the long, hard line of your bulging -- abs.

Ridge: Hey!

[ Laughing ] hey, you come here.

************************************************************************************

Megan: The party was a total success. You know, I can't remember seeing Brooke that relaxed.

Whip: Having Stephanie there didn't stress her out?

Megan: You know what? Stephanie was incredible. Yeah, she told everybody that Brooke has earned her respect.

Whip: I knew it. I knew it. I told Deacon that this party was going to be a turning point. You see it's positive feedback, Megan. That's the key to this whole thing. Brooke has got to realize all the good she's doing. It's all coming together -- everything that she's ever wanted. You know, all of her dreams for her, for Bridget. I mean, none of that could have ever happened with Deacon. There's no way she can deny it. Not now. Marrying me was the best thing that Brooke could have ever done.

Brooke: I shouldn't even be discussing my marriage with you.

Deacon: If you can't talk to me, who the hell can you talk to? You forget, I know you. You and me, we're the same. There are no easy answers for people like you and me. And everything that we've gotten, we've had to fight for. And yeah, we've made some mistakes, we've done some bad things, but that doesn't make us bad people. That doesn't make us monsters. Look, when you think about it, everything we've done -- we've done out of love. I know how -- how important Bridget's happiness is to you. I know how much you love her. I admire that in you. Hell, I love that about you.

Brooke: Stop saying that --

Deacon: Why, why? What does it matter? What's the harm? You've made your decision. It's settled.

Bridget: What's settled?

************************************************************************************************

Megan: The party definitely made an impression on Brooke.

Whip: A good one?

Megan: Bridget was happy. And Stephanie made a really nice speech.

Whip: But you don't think that Brooke's completely over Deacon, yet?

Megan: She's committed to this marriage, whip. She is. There is no question about that.

Whip: Okay, so what is it, huh? Is it Sharpe? I mean, you said the two of them were on the same page.

Megan: They are. They are. Brooke wants to keep their affair a secret, and he's not going to oppose that.

Whip: Yes, but he's not completely sold on the idea, right?

Megan: I'm not concerned about Deacon. He doesn't want to hurt Bridget. He's not going to say anything. I just don't feel you're totally out of the woods, yet. That's all.

Whip: Wait a minute here. You just told me that I had nothing to worry about. Now all of a sudden you're changing your tune?

Megan: No, I'm not. I'm not.

Whip: So, what?

Megan: So I just don't want you getting overly confident. Brooke still loves Deacon, whip. And those are feelings that just don't disappear overnight. And as much as she needs you to keep this secret, I don't know if Brooke is ready to jump into that role of devoted wife.

Whip: So don't push. Is that what you're saying?

Megan: I'm not saying it's not gonna happen for you two. I'm not. You're a great guy, whip. You really are. And she's so lucky to have you. It's just -- maybe Brooke needs just a little more time to see that.

Whip: Maybe not as much time as you think. We're in the home stretch, Megan. I can feel it. If we can keep a lid on this thing until after the baby is born, it's all going to work out. And Deacon and Bridget go back to their lives. Brooke and I can get on with ours. We're almost there, Megan. The end of this ordeal is just around the corner.

**********************************************************************************************

Brooke: Well, you're right. It's over. I guess there's no reason not to talk about it.

Deacon Brooke, I just -- I don't want there to be any tension between us.

Brooke: I don't want there to be tension, either. You're very special to me, Deacon. You always will be.

Deacon: I feel the same way.

Brooke: But you understand why this is hard for me.

Deacon: Absolutely. I mean, look, I don't want to provoke you. I just thought it'd be -- I just thought if we could clear the air.

Brooke: Yeah, I guess it's been a while since we've had a normal conversation.

Deacon: I don't think we're doing that badly, do you? I remember a time when all we did was argue. You hated my guts.

Bridget: Maybe this is what happened. They had an argument. They're making up.

Deacon: I don't know. This is --this is just surreal to me, you know? Anyone would have ever told me that things were gonna end up the way they've ended up, I don't know, I would have laughed in their face.

Brooke: Well, it's not so funny now, is it?

Deacon: Hasn't all been bad.

Brooke: No, there were moments when you made me happier than I've ever been in my whole life.

Deacon: It still blows me away, you know? The bartender and the executive. Who the hell would have thought you and I'd have anything in common?

Brooke: We both cared about Bridget. And we wanted her to have the future that she deserved.

Deacon: It's ironic, isn't it? I mean, that's how this whole thing started. We were talking about Bridget downstairs in the living room.

Brooke: We had a drink.

Deacon: I didn't want to go home.

Brooke: I didn't want you to go.

Deacon: You needed a friend.

Brooke: I needed you, Deacon. I needed to connect with somebody who understood me.

Deacon: Brooke, I will always understand you.

Brooke: Even after everything that's happened --

Deacon: Especially after everything that's happened.

Brooke: I'm sorry. I didn't mean for things to get so messed up.

Deacon: I know. I know. Neither did I.

Brooke: I just couldn't help myself. I mean, I tried to fight it. But you were so gentle and compassionate, tender.

Deacon: I don't regret it. That was the most incredible night that I've ever had in my life, the night that I spent with you. I will never regret making love to you, Brooke.

**************************************************************************************

Ridge: I guess it's true what they say. Power really is a potent aphrodisiac.

Taylor: Not that I haven't always thought of you as a powerful, man-eating lion.

Ridge: Mm, it's been awhile since you've cornered me in the office, though, and put all that power to use.

Taylor: I needed to let you settle into the office and mark your territory before I came in here to christen it.

Ridge: So it really is a special occasion?

Taylor: Yes, it is.

Ridge: Oh, that's too bad. I thought we were starting a new habit.

Taylor: We could. If you make -- make a little change.

Ridge: You're filing a complaint now?

Taylor: Not with your performance. It's with the decor.

Ridge: What? A little too masculine in here for you? A little too much testosterone for you?

Taylor: Oh, no.

Ridge: What? It should have a little more feminine touch?

Taylor: I love that testosterone in here now. But that painting has really got to go.

Ridge: There's only room for one of me, huh?

Taylor: Oh, yeah. One of you is more than enough.

***************************************************************************************

Megan: I hope you're right, Whip. I do. I hope this ordeal is almost over.

Whip: But you don't think it is.

Megan: I want it to be. I want Brooke and Deacon to put this behind them and get on with their lives. And not just for Bridget's sake.

Whip: You know, there was a time that you wanted the two of them together.

Megan: Oh, please. I was deluding myself. And so were they. I mean, my god, Bridget may be a very mature young woman, but she couldn't have handled that -- her husband and her mother. Oh, my god, if this were to ever get out, it would destroy every ounce of trust she ever had in her mom.

Whip: Oh, no, Megan. It goes way beyond Brooke. No, this kind of a secret -- if Bridget were to discover the truth, she might not be able to trust anyone, ever again.

*********************************************************************************

Bridget: No. No. That's not right. No, I heard him wrong. I heard him wrong.

Brooke: It was wonderful for me, too, Deacon. After all those years, I finally found somebody that I could have that connection with, that I was searching for. I just couldn't believe that it was with my daughter's husband.

Bridget: Oh, my god. Oh, my god.

Deacon: Brooke, you thought that we were gonna leave each other.

Brooke: But you promised me that you would.

Deacon: I expected to. I couldn't leave her. She needed me.

Brooke: I know. And she still needs you. That's why you have to stay with her now.

Deacon: None of it is gonna change how I feel about you. Nothing will ever change the way I feel about you.

Brooke: But my future is with whip now and we have to keep that secret between Stephanie, whip, you and me. I have to protect my daughter. You understand that?

Deacon: Of course I do. I told you, you have nothing to worry about. It's over.

Brooke: So then you know what we have to do. We have to stick to the plan.

Bridget: Plan?

Brooke: I'm always going to feel guilty about this. Probably for the rest of my life. And I'm going to wonder if I did the right thing by keeping this secret. Maybe I could have said something to her. Maybe I should have explained --

Deacon: Listen, listen to me. That's all behind us now. We can't even worry about that. But this -- this is what's in front of us. Brooke, we can never allow Bridget to find out the truth. Do you understand that? If she did, it would ruin her life.

Brooke: She'd never recover. Will you promise me that you will never say anything to Bridget?

Deacon: I give you my word.

Brooke: Nobody can ever find out about this. Bridget can never find out that I am pregnant with your child.

[ Echoing ] pregnant with your child. Your child. Your child. Your child. Your child.
