Kristen: What is going on? Ridge, what are you doing here at spectra?
Ridge: Kristen, look, there's no law against visiting my favorite brother-in-law, is there?
Sally: Ah, well, no, but there is a law against overstaying your welcome. So why don't you just beat it. Go ahead, huh?
Ridge: Absolutely, yeah. Tony, see you later.
Tony: Yeah, right, Ridge.
Kristen: No, wait a minute. Why didn't you tell me Ridge was in here?
Tony: Honey, can we talk about this later tonight?
Kristen: No. No, we're gonna talk about this right now. Because there's something weird going on in here, and I can see it in every one of your expressions. Now which one of you is gonna tell me what the hell it is?
Tony: Look, it's no use.
Ridge: Tony.
Kristen: Are you gonna lie to me?
Tony: No. I'm not. Ridge is here because he owns the company.
Kristen: What?
Tony: Ridge and Massimo have bought Spectra fashions.
*******************************************************************************
Rick: Any word from Kristen?
Brooke: No, honey, come on in. How are you doing?
Rick: Okay.
Brooke: Not that you'd say otherwise, right?
Rick: I called the clinic this morning.
Brooke: Why?
Rick: I want to see my wife.
Brooke: I thought you said they wouldn't allow that.
Rick: Mom, they usually don't until she's through detox, at least. I'm just hoping they'll make an exception. They said they'd call me back.
Brooke: This is hard on you.
Rick: Yeah, it's hard on me. I just -- I just want Amber to get through this so we can move on with our life.
Brooke: Honey, she has an addiction. I just don't want you to get your hopes up too high.
Rick: Mom, she hasn't been addicted that long.
Brooke: Well, long enough to turn your life upside down.
Rick: Whoa, whoa, wait a minute, mom. Why are you -- why are you saying this stuff?
Brooke: I'm sorry. It's just hard for me to see what you and little Eric have been going through and not have some strong concern.
Rick: Mom, Amber needs our support -- mine and yours. Please tell me she has that.
********************************************************************************************
Sheila: Good, you're here.
Ziggy: I got things to do, lady.
Sheila: Ah, but nothing as important as this.
Ziggy: Hey, hey, I'm not your servant, you know?
Sheila: No, no, you're not. Ziggy, I am so sorry. You know, I need you. You're the only friend that I have in L.A.
Ziggy: Yeah, well, you're a good friend of mine, too. What can I do here? What can I do for you?
Sheila: My daughter is gonna walk through that door any minute. She spent the night with Rick Forrester.
Ziggy: Okay.
Sheila: At his house.
Ziggy: As the babysitter.
Sheila: Mm, not for long.
Ziggy: Okay, so what's this got to do with me?
Sheila: Well, Erica is in the need of a little gentle persuasion. She looks at Rick as though he's some sort of a god. I want her to look at him like a man.
Ziggy: You know, he's a married man.
Sheila: He's married to someone who's addicted to narcotics. You know, she's in rehab.
Ziggy: She is?
Sheila: Yes. Which is why Erica has to make her move. She's in love with Rick. This is not going to be difficult.
Ziggy: You know, something tells me that crossing the Sahara on foot wouldn't be difficult for you.
Sheila: Well, so -- you gonna help me?
Ziggy: How?
Sheila: Just follow my cue. Erica.
Erica: Hi, mom -- Ziggy.
Sheila: So tell me about your night with Rick.
************************************************************************************
Brooke: Of course I support Amber. Drug addiction is a terrible thing.
Rick: But she will pull through this.
Brooke: Well, I certainly hope so.
Rick: She will, Mom.
Brooke: Honey, some people have addictive personalities. And Amber may be one of those people.
Rick: Mom, what are you talking about? Amber's has never done anything like this before.
Brooke: Not that we know of.
Rick: All right, wait a minute. Why are you all of a sudden talking down on Amber?
Brooke: I'm not. I can just see how preoccupied you are. And I'm your mother, I'm worried about you.
Rick: Mom, I have everything under control. Please, don't worry.
Brooke: How's little Eric doing these days?
Rick: He's fine.
Brooke: Oh, is he?
Rick: Yes, I'm taking care of him.
Brooke: Along with the help of Erica Lovejoy.
***************************************************************************
Erica: Mom, there is nothing to talk about, okay?
Sheila: I doubt that very much.
Erica: God, Mom!
Sheila: Honey, you just spent the night in a Beverly Hills mansion. I mean, that doesn't happen to every girl.
Erica: It was pretty cool.
Sheila: Were you comfortable?
Ziggy: You kiddin'? In those digs? You must have felt like a princess.
Erica: I did. I slept like a baby.
Sheila: Ah, like you belonged there.
Erica: Yes, mom, as the nanny.
Sheila: And I bet Rick was relieved to have you there also.
Erica: I guess he was.
Sheila: Any word from Amber?
Erica: No. Actually, he won't be seeing her for awhile.
Sheila: Really?
Erica: She's going through detox, Mom.
Sheila: Oh, how unfortunate.
Erica: I made Rick breakfast this morning.
Sheila: Well, that's nice.
Erica: He's so sweet to me.
Sheila: And how are you to him?
Erica: Mom, I can't just be aggressive.
Sheila: Well, you can't be standoffish either.
Erica: Well, what do you want me to do, just throw myself at him? I'm not gonna do that.
Sheila: Erica, men give out signals. And women react to those signals -- if they're interested. Now you say Rick is sweet. That's a signal.
Erica: Mom, he's just being a gentleman.
Sheila: No, gentlemen aren't sweet. Gentlemen are kind. That's not the word you used.
Ziggy: You know, your mom's right. Guys like Rick, they're not gonna push it too far, you know? If they don't get the right reaction, they're gonna back off quicker than a wimp in an alley fight.
Erica: Well, what's the right reaction?
Sheila: A good question. And I'm gonna answer it for you. Better yet, I'm gonna show you.
*****************************************************************
Kristen: You bought Spectra fashion?
Ridge: That's right, Kristen, I did.
Kristen: Why?
Ridge: Because I couldn't work at Forrester, that's why. I need a fashion house of my own.
Kristen: What do you mean you couldn't work at Forrester? We would take you back in a heartbeat, and you know it. But you don't want to come back, do you? What are you really doing here, Ridge? What is going on?
Kristen: Why did you buy this company, Ridge? And I want the truth.
Ridge: Because I got burned, Kristen, that's why. Our little brother made me look like an idiot. And I'm not goin' out like that -- not after all the years I've invested in that company.
Kristen: So you're here to show the world you're still a success.
Clarke: And we needed a benefactor. So, my dear, there you have it.
Kristen: I saw some of your designs -- very elegant. Of course, it looks more like a Forrester collection.
Massimo: Kristen, would you expect anything less from ridge?
Kristen: You -- you put up the money for this.
Massimo: Mm-hmm. I'm a business man.
Kristen: Yeah? Well, you're also a home wrecker. And you two are in cahoots with this man. This is the man who destroyed my parent's marriage.
Massimo: Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah. Your father did that quite well on his own.
Kristen: And you, sally, what about you? What's in this for you?
Sally: Well, I think it's obvious. We didn't go bankrupt, and even you have to admit, my lifestyle has improved lately?
Kristen: So that's it? For the money? No. You people are on a mission here. That's why you're being so secretive.
Ridge: No one's being secretive, Kristen.
Kristen: Oh, really? Then why doesn't the family know about it, huh? Because you didn't want us to know. Because this is all about you and your revenge against Rick. And you, your revenge against Brooke. Well, guess what? The secret is out.
Ridge: Hold on, Kristen. Tony, you stay. Everyone else leave. Yes, Kristen, it's a secret. And you're going to keep it.
Kristen: Like hell.
******************************************************************************************************************
Sheila: Sit and observe.
Erica: Come on.
Sheila: Sit! Lesson number one, when you're talking to a man, as I am now talking to Ziggy, especially someone you care about -- look him directly in the eyes, like this. So tell me about yourself.
Ziggy: Yeah. Um --
Sheila: Are you from L.A.?
Ziggy: Out in the valley.
Sheila: Oh. It so hot out there during the summer.
Ziggy: Man, does it ever.
Sheila: Have problems sleeping at night?
Ziggy: Sweat like an animal.
Sheila: There are some night you hardly wear anything at all to bed.
Erica: Oh, my god, Mother.
Sheila: Note the eye contact, Erica. But it's much more than that. It's what you say with your eyes -- the way you tell him that you want to taste his lips. And then you continue, and you look at his mouth. So when it's really hot in the summer, you don't wear much. Is that it?
Ziggy: Totally.
Sheila: I'll bet there are night you wear nothing at all.
Ziggy: The less the better.
Sheila: And then casually touch him. "The less the better." Oh, Ziggy, you're so funny.
Erica: Oh, my god! Mother, this is disgusting!
Sheila: This is not disgusting. This is called courting, Erica, letting a man know that you're interested in him. You're a woman, so why don't you act like one? Or do you want Rick to constantly look at you as a child?
*************************************************************************************
Kristen: How can you expect me to keep this quiet? Why would you even want me to? Because this is an ambush, because you're trying to destroy Forrester.
Ridge: Kristen, I'm just trying to make a success of myself, that's all.
Kristen: Like this? With sally and Massimo Marone? I mean, who is this guy to you anyway, Ridge? You know, you're starting to act like him, and I don't like it.
Tony: Honey, this has nothing to do with Massimo. This is about ridge getting the respect that he deserves.
Kristen: He can get the respect that he deserves by coming back to work at Forrester.
Ridge: Oh, that isn't possible and you know it, Kristen. Brooke and Rick control Forrester, along with Amber and Deacon. Now how can you expect me to really go back there, huh?
Kristen: By putting aside your ego and working together with us as a team.
Ridge: This has nothing to do with ego, though. It's just justice, right and wrong.
Kristen: Vengeance.
Ridge: Oh, come on, please. You don't think after everything I've been through I deserve a modicum of vengeance, huh? Kristen, I'm not an unreasonable man. You know that about me. But I do have some pride, and I'm not gonna apologize for it.
Kristen: What do you expect me to do? I work for Forrester. Do you remember that? I can't just let you blindside us.
Ridge: Well then don't! Go back to that company and make it the powerhouse it should be.
Kristen: It already is a powerhouse.
Ridge: Well, then it shouldn't be a problem for you, should it?
Kristen: Why can't I tell anyone?
Ridge: Because I'm asking you not to. Kristen, I need to do this for myself. Kristen -- please, don't tell them -- for me?
Kristen: Oh! How come I can never say no to you?
Ridge: Thank you, sis. You won't regret it. Come here.
**************************************************************************
Sheila: Honey, the only reason why I'm giving you this advice is because Rick is just an incredible young man. I want to help you --
Erica: Mom, I don't need your help, okay? And I don't need your advice. I did this on my own! I did all of this by myself. God, don't you get it? The Forresters are not your friends, mom. They're my friends. You don't even know them. And you know what? You know what, mom? The day I listen to your advice on Forrester men -- that is the day I become the biggest idiot in the entire world.
Sheila: Well, that's great. That is excellent. Now honey, you take -- you take that fire, you take that passion and you use it on Rick when you're alone with him tonight.
[ Erica screams ]
[ door slams ]
Sheila: She's her mother's daughter. She's gonna do just fine.
**************************************************************************************
Rick: Mom, I am not gonna listen to this. Amber is a very good mother.
Brooke: When she's straight, yes. But she hasn't been, Rick, not for a very long time. You know, you should thank your lucky stars that you have Erica looking out after your son. There's something very attractive about her. I'm sure you've noticed.
Rick: What?
[ Phone rings ] yeah?
Amber: Rick, it's me.
Rick: Amber? Honey, how are you?
Amber: It's tough.
Rick: Can I come see you?
Amber: The doctor said that you can, but I really rather you not see me like this.
Rick: Please, it's very important.
Amber: All right. I love you.
Rick: I love you, too. And I miss you desperately. Okay. Bye. I'm gonna forget you said that about Erica.
Amber: Look at me.
*******************************************************************************************
Sheila: Drugged-up, old Amber? Or my fresh, young beautiful daughter. Oh, Rick, so young and handsome. And after tonight, the choice should be perfectly clear.
