Clarke: Come on. Come on, Sally. Let's go back to the table, okay?

Sally: In a minute. In a minute, Clarke. I haven't had a chance to congratulate the bride yet. Come on. My felicitations, ms. Brooke, though I'm sure you don't need them, because by this time, I figure you've got this marriage thing down to a positive science. Out with the old, in with the new, huh?

Whip: Well, thank you for your good wishes, Sally. Now, we don't want to keep you from your party.

Sally: Thank you so much, but it isn't exactly a party. It's more like a scientific examination, you know, because I am testing the age-old theory that living well is the best revenge.

Whip: Really? How's that going for you?

Sally: Well, I'd say it's not going as well as it might, you know? I've got a little stumbling block here, because I find it impossible to enjoy living well when I know that my enemy is living well, too.

Clarke: Okay. Come on, Sally. Sally, there's a bottle of champagne with your name on it. Let's go.

Sally: Hmm? Oh, yes. Oh, yes, oh, yes. Oh, yes, that expensive bottle of champagne. Absolutely, absolutely. But I tell you what, we're not going to open it right now. I think we're going to save that bottle to celebrate and drink a toast to the destruction and demise of ms. Brooke over there, and I'm sure it won't be too long now.

Clarke: Come on, come on, come on.

Whip: Hey, come on. She's crazy, and she's drunk. Don't worry about her, all right?

Thorne: That's a big order.

************************************************************************************************

Kristen: I know.

Rick: Hey -- where's dad?

Kristen: He left.

Rick: Well, he left me a message. I was in a meeting with the lawyers.

Thorne: We know.

Rick: Did he mention what he wanted to talk to me about?

Thorne: Yeah. He wanted to ask you about your wife, Rick. Where is she?

Erica: Let's go see where your mommy is.

Megan: Oh, my gosh. Hi, Eric. What have you got there, huh? That is a very cool truck. Oh, I like that.

Erica: Hi.

Megan: It's Erica, right?

Erica: Yeah.

Megan: I'm Megan. Hi.

Erica: Oh, yeah, I remember. I hope it's okay that we're here. He just really wanted to see his mom.

Megan: Well, actually, Erica, she's not here yet. But Rick is. He's right there in Eric's office. Do you want to see your daddy? Huh? You do?

Erica: Are you sure he won't mind?

Megan: Are you kidding? He would love it. Go on ahead. Go on. See you later, Eric.

Erica: Bye. Eric Forrester's office. My mom would just die if she knew I was here.

**********************************************************************************

Ziggy: What are you so interested in Amber for anyway?

Sheila: She's got her hooks into my daughter.

Ziggy: She gave the kid a job. How many runaways you know get an opportunity like that, huh? I mean, you should be grateful to her.

Sheila: Grateful? To Amber? No, I don't think so.

Ziggy: You got it in for this person you've never even met? Look, I don't know what you've read in your daughter's fan magazines, but there's nothing sinister or anything about amber Forrester. I mean, she's a little out of her head right now. She's going through a rough time, but --

Sheila: No, no, huh-uh. There's more to it than that. You said she had demons.

Ziggy: Did I?

Sheila: Yes, you did. What did you mean by it?

[ Ziggy sighs ]

Sheila: Are you blackmailing her?

Ziggy: You got a -- whatchamacallit -- overactive imagination, you know that?

Sheila: Oh, and I suppose I was just imagining it when she handed you the money?

Ziggy: That was a loan.

Sheila: A loan?

Ziggy: Yeah. Things were a little tight this month. She's got more money than she knows what to do with. She's helping me out.

Sheila: Well, I feel terrible then. I really misjudged her.

Ziggy: Don't worry about it.

Sheila: No, no, I've got to make this right. No, I think I'm going to tell Erica about what happened and make sure that she passes that on to Rick , and I'm sure he'll be thrilled.

Ziggy: Give the kid a break.

Sheila: No, why don't I give you a break? I'll give you one more chance to tell me the truth! Now, what's going on between you and amber?

Amber: Thank you, Ziggy.

Ziggy: I told you -- she's just having a rough time.

Sheila: And what does that have to do with you?

Ziggy: It's really none of your business.

Sheila: Why are you protecting her? Oh, you're having an affair.

Ziggy: Don't be stupid.

Sheila: Stupid? You know what stupid is? Stupid is me asking all these questions when all I have to do is call the tabloids and let them dig into this and find out the real --

Ziggy: All right, all right. It's not what you think. She's just --

Sheila: -- Going through a very difficult time.

Ziggy: Yeah. That's right. She had a miscarriage. She was in a lot of pain. The doctor prescribed some pain medication --

Sheila: Oh, god.

Ziggy: What?

Sheila: Oh, my god. She's an addict. Oh, well, how sweet.

*****************************************************************************

Rick: Look, you guys, if you have a question for amber --

Thorne: We have a lot of questions for Amber, Rick. That's why we called this meeting.

Rick: Wait a minute. Are you saying that she never showed up to the meeting?

Kristen: No, she didn't. We don't know where she is.

[ Knocking on door ]

little Eric: Daddy!

Rick: Hey, buddy.

Erica: Megan said it'd be all right if I brought him in.

Rick: Oh, yeah, absolutely. I'm just going to be a few more minutes, okay?

Erica: All right. We'll just wait then.

Rick: Look, you guys, I don't know what to tell you. I'm confused.

Thorne: Rick, this is the second time that amber has bailed on us.

Rick: Well, there's obviously a perfectly good explanation, okay?

Thorne: Does she have a problem doing these pieces for Fenmore?

Rick: No.

Thorne: Because you know that dad had to pull a lot of favors to make this happen at all.

Rick: I know.

Kristen: Rick, it is so important to the line. I mean, Fenmore's could mean great exposure for Amber, instant credibility.

Rick: I understand that. And so does Amber. She's excited to do this.

Thorne: Well, it doesn't look that way to me, Rick. Now, where is she? And what the hell is going on with your wife?

Rick: I wish I knew.

******************************************************************************************************

Whip: Remember when we used to think of Sally Spectra as serious competition? And look at her now.

Brooke: She still holds me responsible for her daughter's death.

Whip: What makes her think that Macy would want that for her -- to run around town making empty threats?

Brooke: Well, maybe they're not empty.

Whip: Brooke, please -- don't even worry about that. I mean, what could she possibly do to you?

Brooke: Well, you're probably right. I've never seen Sally quite like that, though. She seems so confident. And the way she was throwing money around --

Whip: Oh, Brooke -- confident? No. She was drunk, okay? And as far as the money's concerned, I don't know, maybe she hit it in Vegas. Who knows? Who cares? It's nothing for you to worry about.

Brooke: Well, I still can't shake the feeling that --

Whip: No, that feeling has nothing to do with sally, okay? You're just used to crisis, that dark cloud looming over your head. Now, I know this is very unfamiliar territory -- it's going to take some getting used to -- but you will not have any more crises in your life, okay?

Brooke: You sound so sure of that.

Whip: I am. When you married me, you made a choice. You could've chose crisis and chaos and pain, but you didn't. You got off of that roller coaster. And I think you're going find that solid ground is very, very comfortable. I mean, there are advantages to not losing your mind every few months.

Brooke: You think?

Whip: I think the baby will probably appreciate it.

Brooke: Yeah. It would be good for the baby to have a very stable environment, very calm. Something that my first two children never had.

Whip: Brooke, cut yourself a break. Your kids turned out just fine.

Brooke: Mm-hmm. But they worry about me. I mean, they always have, ever since they were little. I can see it in their faces.

Whip: Well, you're going to see it less and less in their faces the more that they come to realize that this is for real.

Brooke: Kind of ironic, don't you think?

Whip: Because it's not real? Well, it could be, Brooke. It could be incredible, if you just give it a chance. I mean, look at Rick and amber.

Brooke: Rick and Amber?

Whip: Yeah, they got married because of a baby. I mean, he was in love with somebody else. You didn't think they'd have a chance in hell, did you?

Brooke: No, I didn't.

Whip: And, today, they're rock solid. See? That's what I'm talking about. You never know what could happen.

*************************************************************************

Amber: Can I get another one of these?

Alexandra: Hey, girl! Long time, no see.

Amber: Hi, Alex.

Alexandra: Well, I guess you're too busy for us, now that you're a big-time fashion designer. You know, your stuff walks in here almost every night. You must be so excited.

Amber: Yeah, it's a big thrill.

Alexandra: Well, I'll bet. Well, you know, I'm going to take a short break so you can tell me what's going on in your world.

***************************************************************************

Kristen: Rick -- honey, look. We all feel for Amber and what she must be going through, but she made a commitment to this company and to this family, and she is not following through.

Rick: She is going through hell.

Thorne: Well, then quit, Rick. If she can't handle the job, you let us know so we can cut our losses.

Rick: This line is the one thing that keeps her going. We are not going to take that away from her!

Thorne: Did I hear you right? Did you just tell me that we should jeopardize the future of this company and everyone who works here because it makes your wife feel better?! That's it. I'm talking to dad because we need to pull the plug on this right now!

Ziggy: I never said Amber was hooked.

Sheila: No, no, you didn't have to. You see, she would never associate with someone like you unless she were desperate. This is priceless. This is so priceless. Exactly what I was looking for.

Ziggy: What are you talking about?

Sheila: Does Erica know? Oh, she must. I bet she hasn't put everything together yet, but she has seen signs. And Rick -- he must be miserable.

Ziggy: Yeah, I see you're all broken up about that, too.

Sheila: Don't you see, Ziggy? This is karma. Amber is about to get exactly what she deserves, and that does not include Rick Forrester. He deserves much better than her. No, a man like that should have someone who's special, sweet and caring, but strong -- able to stand up to anything that family can dish out. Somebody exactly like my Erica.

********************************************************************************

Amber: Nothing. There's nothing new going on.

Alexandra: Oh, come on. You're a hit designer at the house of Forrester. I want details. I want to live vicariously through you.

Amber: No, you don't.

Alexandra: Come on. You're going to tell me that this isn't the best time of your life? Amber? Honey, are you okay?

Amber: Leave me alone.

Alexandra: God. Sure. I'm sorry.

**************************************************************************

Kristen: All right. Stop it -- both of you. No one is going to pull the plug on the line. It's too late for that. Yeah, but Amber has got to make more of an effort around here. I know she is in pain, but she is a professional designer now. She can't just blow us off -- and especially dad. After everything that he has done for her, the least that he deserves is her respect.

Rick: I'll talk to her.

Kristen: Good.

Rick: For now, the first think we have to do is get the burden off of amber's shoulders. Kristen, you're familiar with her style, okay? We can take some of the designs that didn't make it to the line, and you can glitz them up for Fenmore's.

Thorne: That's not what they want, Rick.

Rick: And, hopefully -- hopefully, Amber will come through with some new stuff. But just in case she doesn't, we'll have something to give them. Now, I just met with tom down in legal. He said we have been flooded with licensing offers, okay? Cosmetics, accessories, shoes, everything. You know these people and their reputations.

Thorne: I know who's established and reliable. But doesn't Amber want to work with fresh, new talent?

Kristen: Well, maybe you could, you know, weed out the ones that are totally unacceptable, and she could meet with the rest.

Thorne: All right. I'll go talk to tom.

Kristen: Hang in there.

***************************************************************************************************

Rick: Yeah. We're going to be fine. I forgot you guys were here.

Erica: That was -- that was pretty intense.

Rick: Yeah. Don't suppose you know where amber is?

Erica: I thought she'd be here. I'm sorry, Rick. Looks like she's put you in a really bad position.

******************************************************************************

Ziggy: Rick Forrester and your daughter. Well, now I know. You're nuts. I mean, she's a cute girl and all, but --

Sheila: You know, I've been preparing her for this her entire life, and I didn't even realize it. You know, ever since she was a little girl, I always talked to her about men -- what to look out for, what to look for.

Ziggy: Oh, so she got her idea of the perfect man from you?

Sheila: Yeah, how could she fall in love with anyone other than Eric Forrester jr.? This is just meant to be.

Ziggy: Meant to be? Are you kidding? I'm beginning to see why she ran away from home.

Sheila: Yeah, well, I wasn't always the most perfect mother.

Ziggy: No?

Sheila: You know, there were so many things that I couldn't do for her. So many sacrifices that she had to make without even understanding why. I tried, I did my best -- but she'd end up paying the price for my mistakes, all right? This is an opportunity I have to make it up to her.

Ziggy: You couldn't just get her a puppy? Look, I'm sorry, but have you looked at your daughter lately? She doesn't exactly strike me as the happy home wrecker type.

Sheila: That's because she's not. She's a real lady. A complete opposite of Amber, which is why Eric Forrester jr. Is going to fall head-over-heels in love with her.

******************************************************************************

Rick: This is really good, buddy. Do you want to go show this to Megan?

Little Eric: Yeah.

Rick: Okay.

Erica: We'll get out of your hair.

Rick: Listen, thanks for coming today. I really appreciate it. It's just what I needed. And, look, if you hear from Amber --

Erica: I'll call you.

Rick: Thank you.

Erica: Rick, do you want me to stay a little later tonight? Just in case Amber -- I mean, you're not really sure what kind of shape she's going to be in.

Rick: You know, that might not be a bad idea. Are you sure you don't mind?

Erica: No, not at all.

Rick: And, look, Erica --

Erica: Don't worry. I won't say a word to anybody. I mean, it's not their business. You can trust me, Rick.

Rick: Thank you. That means a lot to me right now.

***********************************************************************************

Sheila: My baby girl -- it's going to happen for you the way it never could for me. There are so many times that I let you down, but not this time. You want him? Then you'll have him.
