Amber: How dare you! Who the hell do you think you are?!
Rick: Amber, calm down.
Amber: Calm down?! She left Eric alone by the pool, and she was on the phone! Eric could have drowned!
Erica: I was watching him.
Amber: He was sitting by the pool all by himself. No life jacket on, no water wings. If you looked away for one second --
Erica: But I didn't!
Amber: -- He could be dead.
Erica: I didn't. I swear. I was right there, Rick.
Rick: Where?
Erica: Ten feet away, no more than that. I never took my eyes off of him. I'm a responsible person. I would never do anything that would hurt Eric. I was completely aware of where --
Amber: Too late for excuses, Erica. Fired! Get out!
Rick: Now, wait a minute, Amber, at least give her a chance to explain.
Amber: Why? I already told you what happened.
Rick: Well, I'm interested to hear what Erica has to say.
Amber: You would take her word over mine? You don't believe me?
Rick: Amber, it's not that. It's just --
Amber: I don't want her here, Rick! I can take care of my own baby! I don't need any help!

[ Knocking at the door ]
Sheila: You again. What, don't you have any broken pipes to fix or rent dodgers to hassle?
Ziggy: There are more pleasant aspects to being a super. Like making nice with your tenants.
Sheila: I'm busy.
Ziggy: Doing a little more impromptu redecorating?
Sheila: Reading.
Ziggy: Oh. Yeah. It's not exactly Shakespeare, is it? Looks like you and the kid have the same taste in literature -- "ode to the Forresters." Rich, famous, all the happiness money can buy.
Sheila: You know, you -- you said something earlier about the Forresters having demons. What did you mean?
Ziggy: Just that nobody's perfect, mama -- nobody.
Sheila: My daughter is working for those people. And if there's something going on, I want to know about it. And you're going to tell me -- right now.
***************************************************************************************
Megan: Whip, is Deacon down here?
Whip: No.
Megan: Have you seen him since the meeting?
Whip: I don't think so. Why?
Megan: Well, it's just that I can't find Brooke either, and she's not in her office.
Whip: It's lunchtime.
Megan: Right, but she -- she hasn't checked out yet, and her car's still in the lot. I mean -- Whip, they could be together.
Whip: Yeah, they probably are.
Megan: Wait a second, that doesn't bother you?
Whip: Megan, Deacon has to realize it's over. I mean, Brooke is married to me now. He can't keep trying to weasel his way back into her life.
Megan: Are you saying she's actually finished with him?
Whip: Brooke's moving on, all right? Deacon has to accept that.
Megan: But, no, Whip, though, he doesn't. I mean, I've talked to him about it, and he doesn't see you guys as a couple. He thinks this marriage is a farce.
Whip: Well, he better think again. See, our dear Mr. Sharpe is about to get the shock of his life.
**********************************************************************************************************
Deacon: No! No, Brooke, you couldn't. Please tell me you didn't. Not while you're carrying my baby. You tell me that you didn't have sex with Whip. Tell me!
[ Knock at the door ] What is it?
Greg: Oh, excuse me. I was looking for Mr. Forrester.
Deacon: Okay, I'm sorry. We're just -- we're in the middle of something right here. If you could just send these files.
Greg: Okay.
Brooke: Did I have sex with whip? No, deacon. How could I? I love you too much.
Deacon: You look me in the eye and you tell me -- did you make love to Whip?
Brooke: I don't know how you could even ask me that. He's my husband, and we were on our honeymoon. Yes, of course we made love.
************************************************************************************
Whip: Look, Megan, Brooke and Deacon are finished, completely.
Megan: Look, Whip, I'm sorry, I want to believe you. I really do.
Whip: What, do you need to hear it from Brooke yourself?
Megan: Don't get me wrong. I really believe that you could make her very, very happy. And I know how much that means to Bridget.
Whip: Yes. And you know how much Bridget means to Brooke.
Megan: She would do anything for her.
Whip: Yes, she would.
Megan: Deacon -- he has to believe that this marriage is real. He won't move on unless he does. It's the only way to keep it from Bridget. Brooke is gonna tell him that you had sex. She has to break his heart.
*****************************************************************************************
Deacon: No. No, I don't believe you.
Brooke: I'm sorry, Deacon. I don't wanna hurt you.
Deacon: You're lying to me, Brooke.
Brooke: I'm not.
Deacon: You slept with Whip? You let that bastard take your clothes off and run his filthy hands all over your body? A body that has my baby inside of you. A baby that -- it's a constant reminder of our love. A connection that you said would never break, that you could never forget.
Brooke: And I haven't. But I have to move on. And so do you.
Deacon: Move on? You were barely down the aisle before you jumped in bed with this guy!
Brooke: Oh, god, I can't do this. I want you to leave.
Deacon: No, no! I'm not leaving until you tell me what happened. Brooke, this isn't you. This isn't the kind of woman you are.
Whip: You have to convince deacon you love me. If you don't, Bridget's marriage doesn't stand a chance -- and neither will ours.
Deacon: You owe me an explanation. And you are damn well gonna give me one right now.
Brooke: No, I'm not. You are married to my daughter. I shouldn't even be talking to you about the honeymoon. I mean, that's inappropriate.
Deacon: "Inappropriate"? Do you hear yourself, Brooke? This isn't you talking. This is Whip.
Brooke: Whip has been very good to me. He didn't have to take responsibility for this pregnancy. He didn't have to marry me, but he did!
Deacon: He did because he's a self-serving, gold-digging jerk!
Brooke: Because he wants me and my children to have a life free of scandal and ridicule. And that's what I want, Deacon, more than anything. You know that.
Deacon: Well, that's not a reason to sleep with him!
Brooke: Just let it go.
Deacon: Let it go? No, I'm not gonna let it go! Brooke, something is going on and you're not telling me. You are gonna tell me right now! What is it?
Brooke: All right. You wanna know what it is? I'm falling for Whip.
Deacon: What?
Brooke: Yes. He understands me. He knows what I need. He knows what I want. And he can give it to me.
************************************************************************************************
Rick: Amber, are you all right?
Amber: Oh, great. You're accusing me of being drunk now, too?
Rick: Amber, you almost fell down.
Amber: I tripped, okay? Just let me go.
Rick: Did you take one of these?
Amber: What?
Rick: The pills are spilled out all over the floor. Did you take one of these?
Amber: I am in pain, Rick.
Rick: All right. You know what, Amber? I think you need to go upstairs and lay down. I'm gonna take you.
Amber: No! No! Just leave me alone, okay? I'm fine! I can do it myself!
**********************************************************************************************************
Ziggy: Maybe I know something about the Forresters, maybe I don't.
Sheila: Well, don't play games with me, Ziggy. What do you know?
Ziggy: I know your daughter thinks they're all that and a bag of chips.
Sheila: Oh, and you don't?
Ziggy: Erica's a young girl. She wants to believe the best about her idols. I'm a little jaded. I get the feeling you are, too.
Sheila: Well, we're not talking about me.
Ziggy: Well, maybe we should be. Is there a Mr. Lovejoy in the picture?
Sheila: There was. Until he made the mistake of yanking my chain. Now tell me about the Forresters.
Ziggy: Hey, you know what? You're the one who reads the magazines.
Sheila: Those are Erica's.
Ziggy: Maybe you're the one who got her so hooked on them in the first place -- like mother like daughter.
Sheila: Look, I'm concerned about my daughter. She's a young, impressionable woman.
Ziggy: Worried that she'll fall in with the wrong crowd?
Sheila: You said that the Forresters, they had trouble.
Ziggy: I say a lot of things. You blow me off. I mention the Forresters, all of the sudden you're all ears. I mean, why? Why is that? What is it about these people? What -- what's so attractive?
Sheila: Okay, we're done.
Ziggy: Hey, don't go getting all shy on me now.
Sheila: Do you think you can impress me playing mysterious, Mr. Big I've got the drop on the Forresters? You don't know the Forresters. You know nothing. Because they would never associate with a nobody like you.
Ziggy: Let me tell you something lady -- I know a lot about the Forresters. Things you're never gonna read about in your little precious magazines here.
[ Phone rings ] Ziggy: Excuse me. I need to take this.
**************************************************************************************
Ziggy: Hello?
Amber: Ziggy, it's -- it's me, Amber. I need to see you.
Ziggy: What, you need more, already?
Amber: It's -- it's an emergency, please.
Ziggy: Well, I can't get my hands on the stuff tonight. I can meet you tomorrow.
Amber: Okay. Okay. Where? Just tell me. Yeah, yeah. I know where that is. I'll -- I'll see you there tomorrow. Okay, bye. This is the last time, and then I'm gonna stop. Just a few more pills. Just a few more, and I'll be all right.
***********************************************************************************************
Erica: How's Amber?
Rick: She doesn't want to talk. But Eric's okay. He fell asleep playing blocks.
Erica: Look, I'm sorry if I upset her. I didn't mean to scare her. I was -- I was really watching him.
Rick: I know.
Erica: You believe me?
Rick: Yes, I do. And I should really be the one apologizing here. I should have come home with amber. I knew that she wasn't too keen on getting a baby-sitter.
Erica: You mean she didn't want to hire me?
Rick: She wants to do everything herself -- you know, her career, our marriage, raising Eric. But she can't do that right now, and she's getting really frustrated. But she still doesn't have a right to take that out on you.
Erica: It's okay. I understand. I mean, stress does crazy things to people.
Rick: Still, she accused you of trying to kill our son. I mean, I think she's being a little bit irrational.
Erica: Look, don't worry about it. I grew up with irrational. I have very thick skin.
Rick: Still, I feel bad.
Erica: Well, so do I. I mean, I was really excited about this job. And now I'm leaving, and I don't want you to think that I'm an awful person.
Rick: Oh, Erica, you are not an awful person. And you're not leaving.
Erica: I'm not?
Rick: Well, it's completely up to you, but -- I would be very grateful if you would overlook this incident and stay on. I mean, come on, at least -- at least stay for lunch. Okay? I called Cafe Russe. I told them to bring something over. And amber's not gonna come down. So, you know, why let all that food go to waste? Come on. Keep me company. We'll have lunch.
***********************************************************************************************
Deacon: So whip gives you what you need, huh? Does he touch you the way that I touch you? Does he kiss you the way that I kiss you? Does he love you the way that I love you?
Brooke: Whip!
Whip: Well, well, well. What's going on here? Sweetie, is everything okay?
Whip: I just can't get enough of this woman. But from the look on your face, she's told you that already. You little devil, have you been bragging about our honeymoon?
Brooke: I wasn't bragging.
Whip: Well, you should. It was amazing. It changed everything. The connection that we made. I was right, wasn't I?
Brooke: Right?
Whip: About getting over that first big hurdle. See, once you make a real commitment, you commit yourself to the future, the past and all of its problems just falls away.
Deacon: That's bull. 'Cause we all know that that wasn't a real commitment. Brooke could barely take her eyes off of me the whole wedding.
Whip: Ah, but she couldn't take her eyes off me on the honeymoon. Or was that your hands?
Deacon: Yeah, whatever.
Brooke: Deacon, wait.
Whip: Yeah, Deacon, don't run away mad.
Deacon: I'm not the one running away, am I, Brooke? This is making me physically sick.
Whip: Mm, I thought you were turning green with envy.
Brooke: Whip, don't.
Whip: The guy has to face reality, Brooke. I mean, we're a married couple now. We're expecting a child. We can't afford this kind of drama in our lives. He has to accept what we are to one another.
Deacon: Really? What's that?
Whip: Everything. I don't want to get graphic, Deacon. But Brooke has never been more satisfied.
Brooke: It's true, Deacon. Whip and I are married, and we're really happy together.
Deacon: Yeah.
[ Door slams ]
Whip: You did the right thing, Brooke -- for yourself and for your children.
****************************************************************************************************************
Amber: Oh, god! I need those pills. I need those pills. I have to calm down. I don't know what's wrong with me. God, my moods and this temper. I can't keep doing this to Rick. I can't. He doesn't deserve to be treated like this.
*************************************************************************************
Erica: This is great, Rick. Thank you.
Rick: You're welcome. Cafe Russe always does a great job.
Erica: Cafe Russe, I can't believe it. Oh, sorry. I'm so clumsy.
Rick: Do you want me to get you another one?
Erica: No, that's okay. I could always just borrow yours. You haven't touched your food. Aren't you hungry?
Rick: I haven't been hungry for days. You know, it's all this stuff with amber, the way she's acting.
Erica: Well, she's not herself.
Rick: She's all over the place. You know, one night she's crying, the next minute, she's taking my head off. If this keeps up much longer, I don't know what I'm gonna do.
Erica: You'll get through it.
Rick: I don't know.
Erica: I do. Rick, you're a very strong man. And you come from a strong family. You're just going through a tough time right now.
Rick: I wish I had your confidence.
Erica: Are you kidding me? You have something a lot better than confidence. You have pride and integrity. And Amber's really lucky to have you.
Rick: Well, we're really lucky to have you. I don't how you came into our lives, but I'm glad you did. I don't know if I could have gotten through this on my own.
Erica: I'm here for you, Rick. If you need anything -- anything at all -- I will always be here for you. I'm right here.
