Brooke: I wish you would just stay out of this, Stephanie. This really has nothing to do with you!

Stephanie: It has everything to do with your daughter's life.

Brooke: I've done everything I can to protect her.

Stephanie: No, you haven't. You've done nothing of the kind! She's told me. She's caught you watching her, looking at her when she's with deacon and that you're envious. But she's so innocent she doesn't realize. Brooke, she's worried sick that you're unhappy, and what are you prepared to do? Destroy her life?

Brooke: No. That is not true.

Stephanie: Yes, it is. Now please, go to the party, put the dress on and behave like a woman in love -- not in love with your son-in-law!

Brooke: It was bad enough answering to Whip. I'll be damned if I'm going to take orders from you!

Stephanie: You were damned a long time ago. This is your chance to redeem yourself, to act like a mother, to act like a human being, instead of a bitch in heat!

Deacon: All right, stop it, Stephanie! That's enough. Leave her alone.

********************************************************************************************

Whip: Mom, come on, we're going to be late.

[ Whip whistles ] wow. You look great.

Joy: Doesn't really feel like me.

Whip: No, no. You're gorgeous. Come on, we've got to go.

Joy: Whipple, wait. I'm not sure I can do this.

Whip: Mom, it's just a party.

Joy: It's not just a party. It's to announce your engagement to a woman who's pregnant with someone else's child.

Whip: Yeah, well, we're not announcing that part.

Joy: Well, the real father knows. What if he shows up?

Whip: Well, he probably will, considering it's his place.

Joy: What?

Whip: Yeah. Bridget's hosting the party. Did I forget to mention that?

Joy: I'm not going.

Whip: Mom, you have to go. That's the whole point of this, for you to meet my new family.

Joy: They're not your family, Whipple. It's not even a real marriage. It's a business arrangement.

Whip: No, that's not true. I told you before, I care a lot about Brooke.

Joy: I don't understand how you could. She obviously has no morals --

Whip: Mom, I need you. All right? My bride-to-be is a nervous wreck, my future son-in-law wants me dead. I could use a little support here.

Joy: This is not what I wanted for you.

Whip: I know. It's all going to work out fine, really. Not just for me, but for you, too.

Joy: I don't want any part of it. The whole thing's sordid.

Whip: Well, mom, you're going to feel differently once you meet Bridget. She is the sweetest, most wonderful kid in the whole world. And this marriage, this wedding is designed to protect her. I am very proud of that.

Joy: She's not your responsibility, Whipple.

Whip: Look, you're going to feel much differently once you meet her, all right? She has a way of making you want to take her under your wing. And Mom, the truth is so ugly that I honestly think that it would kill her if she found out.

**************************************************************************

Bridget: Dad? Here, try one of these. Hmm?

Eric: Mm. They're really good.

Bridget: I know.

Eric: Really good.

Bridget: Isn't it? You see that? You show up early, get first dibs on the dessert.

Eric: Mm-hmm.

Bridget: Uh-huh.

Eric: And a little one-on-one time with you.

Bridget: Yeah. I did think Deacon would be here by now, though. I'm a little surprised. I hope he's not protesting. You know how he feels about Whip.

Eric: So those two are still at each other's throats?

Bridget: It's just a turf war that got out of control. And deacon is very protective of mom.

Eric: Yeah, he is, isn't he? I've noticed that.

Bridget: Yeah, well, he knows how important it is to for me to see her happy. But, you know, I don't think we have to worry about that any more, because Whip is a keeper.

Eric: Well, if he is, he'll be the first one.

Bridget: Yeah. Granted, mom's track record has never been the best when it comes to marriage. But, you know, I think she was just desperate for a little stability. And Whip just adores her. And the two of them have a baby to hold them together. Of course, his biggest advantage is that he's not married. And he's not a family member. But then again, I guess she was kind of running out of those.

Eric: Here. Try one of these.

[ Bridget laughs ]

*******************************************************************************

Deacon: Baby, I'm sorry. I should've seen this coming. Look, you go home. I'm going to deal with her.

Stephanie: I think you're forgetting something.

Deacon: Stephanie, what are you doing?

Stephanie: She's going to your wife's party.

Deacon: She's not going to any party.

Stephanie: Yes, she is.

Deacon: You -- you said that you were opposed to this marriage.

Brooke: She said that because she wanted you to leave. She actually wants me to go through with this marriage and become Mrs.. Whip Jones.

Deacon: Well, I hope you told her to go to hell.

Stephanie: No, she didn't. And amazingly, when she's not in your presence for five minutes, she's capable of remembering that she's a mother. I'll see you at the party.

Deacon: Brooke.

Stephanie: Oh, I'm not finished with you.

***********************************************************************

Bridget: Hello.

Tony: Hello, hello.

Bridget: Hey, you!

Kristen: Hi. Are we the first to arrive?

Bridget: No, dad's here.

Zende: Hi, grandpa.

Eric: Zende. Look at you. You look very, very sharp today.

Zende: Thank you.

Tony: He has a hot date.

Kristen: Oh, would you stop?

Tony: What?

Kristen: He just invited a friend. I hope it's okay, Bridget.

Bridget: Oh, yeah. That's okay, Zende. The more the merrier.

Zende: Thank you.

Eric: Come on. I want you to try one of these.

*******************************************************************************

Whip: Boo.

Bridget: Oh. Hey, you.

Whip: How are you?

Bridget: Oh, good.

Whip: Bridget, I'd like for you to meet my mother.

Bridget: Oh, of course, Mrs.. Jones. Hi, it's nice to meet you. I'm Bridget, Brooke's daughter.

Joy: Nice to meet you. You have a lovely house.

Bridget: Thank you. Come on in.

Whip: So, is Brooke here yet?

Bridget: Nope, neither is deacon. But I'm expecting them both any minute now.

*************************************************************************************

[ Deacon laughs ]

Deacon: Gee, that was a brilliant plan, Stephanie. Get me away from her so you can bully her into a bad marriage. What is wrong with you?!

Stephanie: What is wrong with me?

Deacon: You know, if you could just step down from that -- that high horse of yours for one minute -- try something new, a little bit of empathy, a little compassion -- and see that Brooke is scared. She's confused. She's got this blood-sucking leech taking advantage of her, and you're telling her to marry him! Well, congratulations, you made a bad situation worse!

Stephanie: I don't think it could get much worse -- unless Bridget found out, of course.

Deacon: Well, see, I think that's up to me and Brooke.

Stephanie: Oh, the hell it is! Do you really think I would leave that girl's fate in your hands?

Deacon: Stephanie, whether you believe it or not, I love my wife. Yes, I have done some things that have hurt her --

Stephanie: You lo --

Deacon: But that doesn't mean that I don't --

Stephanie: You don't have a clue, do you? You don't have a clue! Do you have any idea what it would do to that girl if she found out that you were sleeping with her mother? Bridget loves you two people more than anything in this world. She took on the entire family to defend you. And this is how you pay her back? You betray her? And on top of it, you want to sit down and gently tell her?

Deacon: What the hell do you want me to say? I don't know what to do in this situation. I do know this much -- that her marrying whip is not the answer! It's not going to do Bridget any good! It's sure as hell not going to do anybody any good!

Stephanie: Well, of course it isn't. Because your hot little hoochie mama isn't going to be available.

Deacon: You know what, Stephanie, let's look at that for a second. If she's with a man like Whip, you think she's just going to move on? Or do you think maybe Brooke might just be a little more drawn to me?

Stephanie: I'm not going to worry about that.

Deacon: Really? Why not?

Stephanie: Because you aren't going to be around, buster.

***********************************************************************************

Bridget: Hey, Thorne.

Thorne: Hey, how are you?

Bridget: Oh. I wasn't sure we were going to see you tonight.

Thorne: Neither was I.

Bridget: This must be kind of weird for you, huh?

Thorne: Look, your mother and I --

[ Thorne sighs ] it wasn't real, Bridget, okay? And I've accepted that. I just hope your mother's not making the same mistake.

Bridget: Using Whip to get over you?

Thorne: Or Ridge --

Bridget: No. No, no, no. She's learned her lesson. Whip is not a substitute for any man.

Thorne: Well, honey, I hope you're right.

Rick: Hey.

Bridget: Hi! Is mom with you?

Rick: No, we thought that she'd be here.

Bridget: No, not yet. Amber, how are you feeling?

Rick: She's -- she's not doing too well. We just thought we'd stop by and give mom our congratulations and then head home.

Bridget: Oh, okay. Hey -- look, you want to lay down in my room?

Amber: Yeah, that sounds good.

Rick: Yeah, you know what? I'll just come and get you when mom gets here. Okay. You want to take the big guy?

Bridget: You bet I do.

Rick: There we go.

Bridget: Hey, you! Oh, oh, oh -- oh, you're getting heavy!

[ Bridget laughs ] come here, we're going to have some fun. Guess who's here? Zende's here. Yeah. You want to go play with Zende? Yeah? Okay.

Little Eric: Yeah.

Bridget: Yeah. Let's go find him. Hey, everyone, look who's here!

[ Talking over each other ]

Eric: Oh, it's the little man.

Thorne: How, you doing', buddy?

Erica: Hi, Bridget.

Bridget: Hey. Oh! The girl who brought Amber home, right?

Erica: Yeah, that's me. My name is Erica. It was really nice of you to say I could come.

Bridget: Oh, sure.

Erica: Oh, there's little Eric.

Bridget: Yes.

Erica: I -- I brought him a present.

Bridget: Oh, you did? That's so sweet. Come on in.

Joy: I don't think she's coming, Whipple.

Whip: Of course she's coming, Mom. It's Brooke's party.

Joy: She's not here, and neither is her lover. What does that tell you?

****************************************************************************************

Deacon: Stephanie, you want me to stay away from Brooke. I've tried! It's not that easy! Think about it -- I work with her. I'm married to her daughter --

Stephanie: Oh, I think this is easily remedied. You quit your job. You hire a divorce lawyer, have him file papers and you leave town, preferably tonight.

Deacon: Like hell I will!

Stephanie: Do you think I'm going to allow this to go on?

Deacon: I don't think you have a say!

Stephanie: I don't have a say?! If you want to find out how much of a say I have in this -- what do you think her father's going to do when he finds out what you've done to his daughter?! He tried to kill you once before, didn't he?

Deacon: Yeah, and it occurs to me that didn't work out real well for him, did it? Listen to me. I made a commitment to Bridget. I intend on keeping it.

Stephanie: That is a bad joke, pal!

Deacon: Whether you believe it or not, I love her. If there was no Brooke, if there was no baby, Bridget and I would be happy.

Stephanie: You're not only stupid, you are delusional for god's sake!

Deacon: Wait a second -- delusional?! I would be delusional if I did not love Bridget. Think about it. She is the most perfect girl that you could ever have! She's an angel -- she's -- all right! Hey! All right! All right! All right! Stephanie, stop it! Just stop it! Listen to me. We both agree that I am not the perfect guy for her. But I'm the one that she wants. I'm the one that she loves! And I will not walk out on her for no good reason!

Stephanie: Oh, really? You want a good reason?! I'll give you one! Save your own neck. And don't think I'm not capable of something really bad! No matter what it takes and no matter how you push me, I'm taking that girl away from you! Now, you make the decision that you're ending that marriage. And you're ending it tonight, or you're going to pay the price, pal! ( Horn honking )

Deacon: Stephanie -- I know that you can understand this. I am not going to abandon my child.

[ Stephanie laughs ]

Stephanie: Oh, my god. What in the world do you think any child would benefit from being around you? And what is he supposed to call you? Father or uncle? Hmm-mm. He's better off with Whip.

Deacon: That guy is not raising my kid! Listen to me, you think I'm bad news? This guy is downright toxic! He has been blackmailing Brooke all along. He's been torturing her for months!

Stephanie: I like him more and more.

Deacon: My god, do you hate her that much?

Stephanie: You bet I hate her that much. There's only been one good thing in that woman's life -- the relationship that she's had with her children, especially her daughter. You have taken something wonderful and made it something really shameful. You're poison to both of these women. If you had a shred of decency, you'd walk out. You hear me? You'll walk out. Now I'm going to the party -- at your former house. Good-bye, Deacon.

**********************************************************************

Rick: Is mom still not here?

Bridget: Not yet. How's Amber?

Rick: She's resting. You know, the doctor won't give her any more pills, and I guess she's in a lot of pain.

Bridget: Oh, that's too bad. I guess she doesn't want to see her friend now?

Rick: What friend?

Bridget: Erica. I wish you would have told me she was coming. Rick, I felt kind of stupid.

Rick: Who's Erica?

Bridget: Erica. You know, her friend, the one who brought her back from the funeral. She's right over here.

Rick: She's here?

Bridget: Yeah.

Rick: Bridget, I didn't invite her.

Bridget: What, you mean she just showed up? That's weird.

Rick: I'm going to go find out what's going on.

Zende: Hi, Erica!

Erica: Hey, Zende. How are you?

Zende: I'm good. I'm glad you could make it.

Bridget: Oh, that's the connection. Small world, huh?

Megan: Looks like Zende's made some new friends.

Bridget: Yeah, looks like. Hey, Megan, was Deacon still at the office when you left?

Megan: Yeah, he was.

Bridget: What was he doing?

Megan: He was in a meeting.

Bridget: Oh, unbelievable.

Megan: You know, Bridget. Maybe it's better if deacon doesn't come. I mean, you know how he feels about whip. And I don't know –

***************************************************************************

Rick: You know, speaking of whip, where is he? I wanted to congratulate him.

Tony: I think he just left.

Bridget: What?

Tony: Yeah, with his mother.

Bridget: Oh, great. That's great. Now both my guests of honor have bailed on me. What the hell is going on?!

****************************************************************************************

Whip: Mom, mom, mom -- please don't leave.

Joy: I'm not going to stay here and watch you be humiliated.

Whip: Nobody's humiliating me except you, if you go.

Joy: I'm leaving, Whipple. And I think you should, too.

Whip: Mom, the party's in my honor.

Joy: The party's in honor of your engagement -- to a woman who doesn't love you!

Whip: Shh! Mother. I told you, Brooke does care about me.

Joy: Then where is she? Hmm? Where is she?

Whip: Right there. Sweetheart. I'm so glad you're here.

Brooke: Sorry I'm late.

Whip: Oh, that's quite all right. I would like for you to meet my mother.

Brooke: So nice to meet you, Mrs.. Jones.

Joy: How do you do?

Brooke: Well, actually, I've been better.

Whip: Problems?

Brooke: I'll talk to you about that later. Let's just get this over with.

Bridget: There you are! I was getting worried.

Brooke: I'm sorry, honey. I got held up at the office.

Bridget: Oh, that's okay. Did you see deacon?

Brooke: Briefly.

Whip: Yeah, but now the bride and groom are here, so we can resume the party.

Brooke: Very true.

Bridget: Now we're just missing him and Stephanie.

Stephanie: Well, I'm here.

Bridget: Hey! I'm so glad you came.

Stephanie: I wouldn't be anyplace else. I want Whip and Brooke to know just how supportive I am of this marriage.

Bridget: Do you mean that?

Whip: Thank you.

Stephanie: I absolutely do. After we talked the other day, I realized how important it is to this family that this marriage work out. I'm going to do everything in my power to make that happen.

Bridget: That's wonderful! Isn't that great, Mom?

Brooke: Yes.

Bridget: Stephanie, you've made me so happy. Thank you so much.

*****************************************************************

Announcer: Coming soon to "the bold and the beautiful" --

Deacon: You can't go through with this wedding. This isn't over. Why can't you see that?

Announcer: The pressure is on.

Deacon: You don't love whip.

Announcer: And Brooke is trying to do the right thing.

Brooke: We're not going to discuss this right now. Bridget could walk up and hear everything that you're saying.

Deacon: She is going to find out. There is nothing we can do about it.

Announcer: But even with all the help in the world.

Stephanie: How many times do I have to tell you to stay away from her?

Whip: Face it, deacon, she's made her decision and she choose me.

Announcer: The secret is bound to come out.

Bridget: I want to know what's going on, mom. And I want to know, now.
