Whip: I know this is a little out of the blue.

Brooke: A marriage proposal -- yes, that's a little bit out of the blue.

Whip: Think about it, Brooke. I mean, it makes perfect sense.

Brooke: So you want me to marry you because it's sensible?

Whip: Well, for you maybe, but for me it's so much more. You do realize that, I hope?

Brooke: We never even dated. You hardly know me.

Whip: Listen, Brooke, I know you don't feel the same way about me -- yet. But until you do, just think of this as a marriage of convenience or whatever. I mean, I'm not gonna pressure you, Brooke. I'm not gonna follow you around with my tongue hanging out. Listen, I just want to make you happy. I want to see you smile, you know? I'm good at making you smile. Marry me, Brooke. I won't disappoint you.

Erica: The nurse brought this prescription for you. She said you can take one when you get home.

Amber: Let me have it now.

Erica: Okay.

Amber: Thank you, Erica. You've been very sweet.

Erica: Tell that to my mother.

Amber: Yeah.

Erica: Is there anything I can do for you?

Amber: No, there's not much anyone can do for me now.

Erica: I want you to know I'm here for you, Amber.

Massimo: As you can see, it's a very simple contract.

Jonathan: Indeed, it is.

Kevin: Ridge will be employed as second in command until he's trained.

Massimo: After which, he will share the top position in the company with me.

Jonathan: And in three years, you retire, and he runs it alone.

Massimo: Of course, I will always be available for consultation if he needs it.

Jonathan: And for all this, he'll be paid --

Ridge: The meager sum of $10 million a year.

Kevin: Plus benefits.

Jonathan: Quite an offer. I've drawn up a lot of contracts in my time, Massimo. I've never seen one like this.

Ridge: Yeah, wait until you see the next one.

Jonathan: You didn't tell me there were two.

Ridge: I'm sorry, I didn't have time.

Massimo: Actually, it is not a contract. It's a codicil to my will.

Jonathan: You're leaving everything to Ridge?

Massimo: My entire estate.

Kevin: Here's a statement of Mr. Marone's net worth -- certified, of course.

Jonathan: I don't need to see that. I'm sure he's worth well over $1 billion. In a word, ridge, this is a farce. I'm not gonna let you sign.

Ridge: Jonathan, it's all there in writing.

Jonathan: I don't like it.

Ridge: Why not?

Jonathan: Because it reeks of deception. Come on, Ridge, use your head. A man as shrewd as this one doesn't do anything without a reason.

Massimo: Mr. Young, my reasons are personal.

Kevin: Which is what a will is designed to be -- a confidential statement of a man's last wishes.

Jonathan: Until it's executed. Then all hell is gonna break loose.

Ridge: Jonathan, look, I really don't care about any of this.

Jonathan: You don't care?

Ridge: If Massimo wants to leave his estate to me, that's his business. Obviously, yes, I'm very grateful, but the fact remains, I'm more interested in this position at Marone industries. So gentlemen, I'm ready to sign.

Jonathan: Does your father know about this?

Massimo: I told him.

Ridge: You did?

Massimo: Yes, I felt he should learn it from me.

Jonathan: I suppose he was thrilled with it.

Massimo: No, as a matter of fact, he didn't like it at all. Then I explained to him that it is not only for ridge, but for his children as well.

Ridge: What a guy, huh?

Jonathan: It's not funny. Do you trust this man? Because I don't.

Massimo: Why not?

Ridge: Jonathan, I don't know what it is, but there's something about Massimo. Yes, I believe he's sincere. But the fact remains, this position means more to me than any of you could possibly know. I have definite plans.

Rick: Hi.

Amber: Hi.

Rick: How are you feeling?

Amber: Empty.

Rick: Well, the doctor says I can take you home. Are you ready for that?

Amber: I guess so. Oh, um, this is -- this is Erica.

Rick: Hi, Erica.

Erica: Hello, Mr. Forrester. I'm really sorry about your loss.

Rick: Yeah, so are we.

Amber: She's been really sweet, friendly.

Rick: Really?

Erica: I've always admired your family, especially Amber. And when I heard she was in the hospital, I just had to come see her.

Amber: She brought me flowers.

Rick: Well, that's very sweet of you, Erica. Do you live in l.A.?

Erica: I just moved here.

Rick: Well, maybe we'll see you again.

Erica: That would be wonderful. I mean, you know, if you need me for anything.

Rick: Well, right now I need to get my wife home and get her to bed.

Erica: Yes, of course. I'll just be going. Take care of yourself, amber. You'll both be in my prayers. Good-bye, Mr. Forrester.

Rick: Rick.

Erica: Rick.

Rick: Come on, honey. Let's get you out of here.

Amber: I'm so sorry.

Rick: Oh, honey, don't even go there.

[ Amber sobs ]

Intercom: Dr. Max, extension 456. Dr. Max, extension 456.

************************************************************************************

Massimo: Well, Ridge. Welcome to Marone industries.

Ridge: Thank you.

Massimo: Now what do you say we get started, hmm? I've prepared several documents here for you. I think we should start with the fleet. We have 214 ships, plus 45 of them are designated supertankers.

Ridge: Hold on, Massimo. I'm not really ready for this right now. I have some unfinished business I have to take care of.

Massimo: Unfinished business?

Ridge: Yeah. Dad, come on in.

[ Massimo sighs ]

Eric: I want to talk to my son, alone.

Ridge: Massimo, would you mind giving us a few moments? Look, Dad --

Eric: So it's true. You have sold your soul to the devil.

**********************************************************************************************

Whip: Brooke, you're gonna have a baby in a few months. Far better that he have a father in the house. And I will be a good father. I'll be a great father.

Brooke: Whip, it's Deacon's child, and you hate deacon.

Whip: First of all, I don't hate deacon. And secondly, yes, it is Deacon's baby, but it's also half you, Brooke. Even if it were a tenth of you, that would be enough for me to love it for the rest of its life. Because that's how I feel about you.

Brooke: Such a romantic.

Whip: Yeah, I'm also very practical. I know what having a kid's all about -- midnight feedings, the changing. I mean, I live for that stuff.

Brooke: Oh, stop it.

Whip: Brooke, I will be as patient as a priest, as loyal as a German shepherd. I will love this baby as if it's my own. And I will treat you like you have never been treated.

Brooke: Whip --

Whip: Shh, no, no. You don't have to answer, okay? Just think about it. And think about this, too. If deacon has any hope for the two of you, and I'm sure he has, marrying me would eliminate that. It's the best thing you can do for Bridget's marriage. Brooke, I love you. I will be a good husband.

[ Brooke sighs ]

***********************************************************************************

Ridge: Dad, what Massimo has done for me is given me power, and I've never had that before.

Eric: Well, that power is gonna poison you, Ridge. It's gonna poison you the same way it's poisoned him.

Ridge: No, it won't.

Eric: When you start running this company, it's gonna own you.

Ridge: I'm here to fight a battle, dad -- probably the biggest battle of my life. And it has nothing to do with Marone industries and everything to do with Forrester creations. Dad, you have given me so much of yourself. I haven't forgotten that. How can I forget all the years you spent teaching me how to play ball, how to catch a fish, how to be a man? I idolized you, you know that? The truth is, I still do. Sure, we lock horns, but guess what? You taught me how to do that, too. Don't you think for one moment that I don't love you as the best damned father a guy could ever have. Because I do. And you are. And now it's time for me to give back. Forrester creations was named after Eric Forrester, no one else. And someday, Eric Forrester is going to be respected, acknowledged and restored once again. That's what I'm gonna do for you, and Massimo doesn't know it yet, but he's gonna help me.

Eric: How, Ridge? What are you talking about? You obviously have a plan. What is it?

******************************************************************************************

[ Amber crying ] it is my fault. It is my fault.

[ Amber crying ] take one every four hours. Four hours? I just took one. It's not working.

[ Amber sobs as she takes 3 pain pills]

Announcer: Tomorrow on "the bold and the beautiful" --

Ridge: Hell has come into Forrester, and I'm the one bringing it on.

Eric: This is brother against brother.

Ridge: There's a storm coming in, and he better be ready for it.
