The Bold & The Beautiful Transcript Wednesday 2/6/02 By Linda Ridge: Can we talk? Brooke: Of course. Ridge: Face-to-face? Brooke: I think that everything that needs to be said has been said. Ridge: You're upset. That's understandable. Brooke: I'm not upset anymore, Ridge. In fact, I'm feeling quite calm. Ridge: You have been under a lot of stress, Brooke. So why don't you take off your coat, let's sit down and talk. Logan? Brooke: I'm really quite comfortable, thank you. And please don't call me Logan. That isn't professional. And that is what our relationship is now -- strictly professional. Ridge: All right. I made decisions as CEO that I felt were in the best interests of the company. Brooke: No, Ridge, you deliberately set out to change the focus of this company while I was away and that was devious, yet not at all surprising. And I am angry, yes, but I'm not devastated, because you can't hurt me anymore. You don't have that kind of power. Now I have a company to run, and you have a collection to design. I suggest that we both get to work. ********************************************************************************************* Amber: I can't believe it. I am married to the vice president of Forrester Creations. I'm almost first lady. Rick: Well, you are my first lady. Amber: So, Mr.. VP -- Rick: Hmm? Amber: -- Would you like to retire to the presidential suite for a little royal treatment? Rick: H. There's somebody I have to see first. Amber: Who? Rick: Massimo. I want to thank him. Amber: He is an amazing man. Rick: I still don't know why he did this for me. Amber: Well, do you think he wants something in return? Rick: No. No, not from me, anyway. Amber: Well, who else is going to thank him, huh? Certainly not Ridge. Rick: You got that right. I mean, Ridge hates the guy. He would kill Massimo if he found out that he was the one who masterminded his downfall. Amber: What a weird relationship, huh? Massimo and Ridge? I mean, talk about bad blood. Rick: It almost seems like Massimo wanted Ridge out of Forrester, more than he wanted me in. He must really hate the guy which is strange because they are so much alike. ***************************************************************************** Greg: Brooke is back in her position as CEO, and Ridge is a mere designer, reporting to his 20-year-old half brother. Massimo: That's got to tear Ridge up. Hmm. So it's happening. Brooke is back in power, and before long, Ridge will be gone. Greg: Need me for anything else, sir? Massimo: Oh, yes, Greg, one more assignment. I want you to deliver this package to Ridge Forrester. ********************************************************************************** Ridge: Brooke, can we talk about this rationally? Brooke: Do I look irrational to you? Ridge: You're obviously very bitter. Brooke: No, I'm not bitter, Ridge. I'm just not vulnerable. Now, like I said before, your office is waiting for you down the hall with a lot of design work on it. You're no longer coo, so get used to it. Ridge: Don't do this to me. Brooke: Don't do this to you? After what you did to me? Ridge: I made a decision that I thought was best for the company. That is why you hired me as coo when you left, isn't it? Brooke: With one stipulation. That you run this company exactly the way I would have. Those were my instructions. Ridge: We were losing market share, Brooke. Do you have any idea how many customers came back to us after I canceled "Brooke's bedroom"? Hundreds. Hundreds of high-end clients. Brooke: "Brooke's bedroom" more than made up for that, Ridge. Ridge: It wouldn't have over the long run. Brooke: So, now you're clairvoyant? You have no basis for that statement. Ridge: What do you mean I have no basis? Brooke, do I have to remind you I have a lot more history with this company than you do? We are a fashion house, not a lingerie company. Brooke: Well, you should have come to me before with that argument, Ridge. Instead, you went behind my back, and that is despicable. Ridge: Well, you were having a nervous breakdown. I didn't want to bother you. Brooke: Oh, how convenient. But you knew I would talk to Rick, and what did you think that would do, sedate me? Ridge: Speaking of Rick, you can't be serious about making him vice president. Brooke: Yes, I am. I am very serious. From what I hear, he's very effective. Ridge: Okay, well, let's talk about that one, too. Where exactly does this new-found business knowledge come from? It's not from a classroom, I can tell you that. Brooke, someone is tutoring him, someone who knows us from the inside out, and someone who's trying to nail me. So who is it, huh? Tell me. ************************************************************************************** Massimo: So Brooke Logan is back. To reclaim her title, no doubt. The end is near. Hmm, well. Not the end, my son -- the beginning of a life that's going to offer you challenges beyond your dreams. Ridge: Your highness, the oil will continue to flow through the strait. There will be no disruption. Sheik: How can you guarantee this? Ridge: A letter from my friend, the secretary of the navy, as well as a personal note to you, from admiral Staley. Sheik: Commander of the fleet? Ridge: He has promised me and the president the strait will remain open throughout this crisis. Sheik: You have his word? Ridge: I talked to him this morning. Your highness, Marone Industries has always upheld its contracts. Even during the gulf war, we met our commitments. We will continue to do that now. You see, my father has a reputation. We're very proud of it. Sheik: I must say, I feel a lot better than when I walked in here. Ridge: I'm very pleased about that. **************************************************************************************************** [Amber: So you want me to come with you? Rick: Not this time. Amber: I know that look. You're not just going over there to say thank you. Rick: Well, more than anybody, Massimo is responsible for everything that's happened to me. He's really given me some confidence. I really think that I can be a great vice president. Amber: So what's that have to do with going over to see Mr.. Marone, huh? Rick: He made me into what I am. I want to know why, and he's going to tell me. ******************************************************************** Brooke: I don't know who's tutoring Rick. Ridge: But there has been someone? Brooke: Like I said, Ridge, I don't know. Ridge: Come on, Brooke, you made a college kid vice president. Brooke: What are you saying? Ridge: I'm saying you had to have known he's been training for this. Otherwise, you wouldn't have given him the job in the first place. Brooke: Why not? You put your wife on the board, and she doesn't know how to run a business. Ridge: Who is it, Brooke? Brooke: I don't know, Ridge, and frankly, I don't care. So is there anything else? Ridge: So, what, I'm supposed to work under Rick now? Brooke: If you want to stay at Forrester, yes. Ridge: That's ridiculous. The kid has no experience whatsoever. Brooke: Well, you and Eric can help him gain experience. Ridge: Like hell I will. Brooke: Need I remind you, Ridge, I could fire you entirely from this company after what you did to me, using my proxy to get rid of me and my family, and get us out of this company. Well, it didn't work, did it? I am still here as coo. And out of my sheer generosity, you are still here as head designer. Ridge: Let me ask you a question -- are they one and the same? Brooke: Who? Ridge: Rick's guru and the guy you're involved with. Brooke: I am not involved with anybody, ridge. Ridge: You're protecting him, Brooke. It's written all over your face. Brooke: Look, why don't you forget about me and just go back to work? Ridge: Why are you doing this to us? Brooke: "Us"? Ridge: Forrester creations. We both have a stake in it, Brooke. I've dedicated my life to it. I've watched my parents sweat bullets building it. Can you really blame me for trying to get it back? I may have lost this round -- obviously, there's a mole out there trying to bring me down. For god's sake, don't trash this company. Brooke: I am not trashing this company, ridge. Ridge: You put your 20-year-old son in at VP? You hire Deacon, of all people, as head of promotions? What the hell is that? You hate the guy. Brooke: Deacon is misunderstood. Ridge: Misunderstood? What the hell am I hearing here? What is this? Brooke: Ridge, you stacked the board of directors against me. You shut me out, and you shut my son out. So what did you expect me to do, hire your mother? I followed your lead, I did exactly what you did, and I hire people that I could trust. Now go back to work before you lose your job. Ridge: I'm not going to let you run my family's company into the ground. You hear me? I will stop you, Brooke. I don't know how, but I will. And as for whoever's behind Rick's little climb to fame here, they're going to pay a very high price. Do you hear me? They are going to pay for this. Megan: Ridge, there you are. Can we talk for a minute? Ridge: About what, Megan? Megan: The design schedule. We're just a little behind -- Ridge: Well, that's just too damn bad, isn't it? [ Door slams ] *************************************************************************************** Rick: I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done. This turned out better than I could ever expected. Massimo: Indeed it has -- for both of us. Rick: Just what do you mean by that? Massimo: Well, it doesn't concern you, my boy. Rick: Yes, it does. I'd really like to know why you did this for me, and I'd like to know now. **************************************************************************************** Megan: Oh, Brooke, it is so good to have you back. Brooke: It's good to be back. Megan: And not a moment too soon, either. Brooke: I can't believe how close I came to losing all of this. Megan: And how's -- ? Brooke: The baby is fine, but I don't want to talk about that right now. Sit down, Megan. There's something I need to ask you. I have to leave the office for a couple of days. Megan: What are you going back to Ojai? Brooke: No. No, I'm ready to start my life here now. I'm not quite sure what that means, but I still need to figure out how to explain this pregnancy, and I think I came up with a plan. Megan: Brooke. Look, you just need to relax right now, okay? Rick and I will take care of everything. Brooke: Rick. Megan: Your son came through. Brooke: Yes. Yes, he certainly did -- with help. Megan: Yeah, do you know who it was? Brooke: No, I was hoping that you might. Megan: No, I have no idea. But whoever it is, he did a heck of a job, 'cause Rick is a different kid. Brooke: He's not a kid, anymore. He's a man. I just wish I knew who was responsible. ************************************************************************************** Rick: Why did you help me bring ridge down? What is it with you two? Massimo: I just told you, Rick, I'm not going to discuss it with you. Rick: Look, I'm not intimidated, Massimo. I know you used me for something, and I'd like to know what. Massimo: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I did not use you, Rick. I helped you. Rick: Why? Massimo: What is the difference? Rick: The difference is Ridge is my brother. Massimo: Ah, I see. So you're concerned about Eidge? He's your enemy. Rick: He's not my enemy. He's just someone who wanted to run his father's company. Massimo: And perhaps one day he will. Rick: Well, that's just not in the cards for Ridge. Be that as it may, he's still my brother, and you are a threat to him -- much more so than I am. Massimo: I'm not a threat to him, Rick, and you should believe that. Rick: Well, maybe I would if you would tell me why you sought me out. Massimo: Let it go, Rick. You have a job to do now. Do it. And forget about Ridge and me. Rick: I will find out the truth. ****************************************************************************************** Ridge: "Out of life's tragedy comes true greatness." What the hell? Who's doing this? Who's sending me this garbage? [ Glass breaks ] Massimo: Oh, Ridge. I know that you are confused and defeated, but when the time comes, we are united. It will have been worth every bit of the pain that you're feeling. Have faith. Have faith, my son. Your father awaits. Ridge: What's happening to my life? It's falling apart, and it's all been planned, orchestrated, like I'm being manipulated by some higher power. Why? Why? Who would want to do this to me? Oh, god. Who are you? Who are you?
