Massimo: Yves. Bonjour, mon ami.

[ Massimo laughs ]

Yves: Mon vieux, how are you?

Massimo: I am doing very well, thank you. Yourself?

Yves: Life is good, but we wondered why we didn't see you at the coast this summer.

Massimo: Well, now you understand.

Yves: Yes, but I'm surprised. I thought that you didn't care for Los Angeles.

Massimo: Well, it has its attractions.

Yves: D'accord. You just have to know where to look.

Massimo: Which is one of your special talents, Yves. You always know where to look.

Yves: Well, I spend so much time here now. Forrester flies me out frequently.

Massimo: To report to the board.

Yves: Yes. That is where I'm headed at this moment.

Massimo: Yes, I know.

****************************************************************************************************

Eric: I think he's just a delightful kid.

Kristen: Well, Zende really liked you, too.

Eric: He surprised me, actually. I thought he would be a little more reserved, a little shell shocked even. It's just such a huge transition for him.

Kristen: Yeah. You know, I just think it hasn't sunk in yet.

Stephanie: Well, I suppose in his mind, it's still one big adventure.

Kristen: Exactly. Everything is "wow!"

[ Kristen laughs ]

Stephanie: So when do I get to meet this charming young boy.

Kristen: Well, you could come back with me after the meeting. That shouldn't take long, right?

Eric: I don't think so. I think it's pretty much routine.

Stephanie: Well, what is Rdge talking about when he said something about a surprise?

Kristen: Yeah. Yeah, I wonder what he was talking about.

***********************************************************************************

Taylor: Maybe we should just blow off this meeting.

Ridge: Oh, no, you don't. You agreed to be on my board of directors.

Taylor: Oh, no, I didn't agree. I agreed to let you nominate me. The rest is up to your family.

Ridge: They're going to be all for it. You know that.

Taylor: They may not like the idea of you giving yourself an extra vote, because that is the way they're going to see it.

Ridge: They are all well aware you have a mind of your own, okay? Let me get my notes, and we'll be out of here.

Taylor: Did you get a chance to talk to Brooke about this?

Ridge: I'm not going to bother Brooke with these details.

Taylor: What about Rick?

Ridge: What about him?

Taylor: Well, if you didn't mention it to him either, he is not going to like this.

Ridge: Rick doesn't seem to like much of anything I do these days, does he?

Taylor: Which is maybe why you shouldn't be antagonizing him.

Ridge: Look, I'm not going to let my kid brother's temper tantrums affect how I do my job. Now, no more discussion about this. Let's get in there.

*********************************************************************************

Amber: Good morning.

Rick: Oh, what time is it?

Amber: Well, I let you sleep as late as I could. Here. You were up so late.

Rick: Thanks. You know, I've never crammed so hard in all my life.

Amber: You're sure putting a lot of pressure on yourself.

Rick: No, ridge is the one putting pressure on me, ruining everything mom worked so hard to create, her life's work.

Amber: Yeah, but you're not going to let that happen.

Rick: No, but in order to stand up against Ridge, I've really got to know my stuff. It's all here -- the history of Forrester, annual reports, sales figures, newspaper clippings going back for decades.

Amber: You memorized all of this?

Rick: I knew most of it already -- you know, stories at the dinner table, conversations I overheard.

Amber: I know you've been in training for this your entire life.

Rick: Yeah, and that's an advantage, but it also poses a problem. You know, they still see me as the little boy playing with toy cars under dad's desk.

Amber: Well, not now -- not after today, because you are going to walk into that board meeting and blow them away.

Rick: Or get blown away.

Amber: You are going to do great.

Rick: I have to. There's nobody else defending my mom's vision.

Amber: That makes you angry, doesn't it?

Rick: After everything mom has done for that company, she deserves so much better than this. You should have seen the look on her face when I told her they canceled her line. Nobody does that to mom and gets away with it.

***************************************************************************************

Stephanie: So you've met Zende?

Thorne: Well, I live next door to them. They can't avoid me.

Kristen: We took a walk last night after dinner.

Thorne: He really is a great kid. I can see why you two fell in love with him.

Kristen: Well, you are his new hero. Thorne told him all of his surfing stories.

Stephanie: Oh, you didn't tell that old shark story?

Thorne: It was a shark, Mother.

Stephanie: In your dreams, sonny.

Kristen: Zende believes you, even if no one else does.

Thorne: Smart kid.

Ridge: Congratulations to the new mother!

Kristen: Oh, thank you. Hi.

Taylor: So how is he doing?

Kristen: Really well.

Taylor: Oh, well, Thomas and the girls are so excited.

Kristen: Oh, so is Zende. I showed him your pictures. I just didn't want to overwhelm him his first few days here.

Taylor: Oh, we're ready whenever he is.

Kristen: Well, why don't you check back with me after the meeting?

Eric: Excuse me. When you're all done coordinating your social calendars, we do have a board meeting to run.

Kristen: Okay. Sorry, Dad.

Ridge: Thank you, Megan.

Megan: Sure.

Ridge: All right, first things first. I want to welcome Kristen. Your first board meeting in how many years?

Kristen: Too many.

Ridge: I'm glad you could make it.

Eric: I'll second that.

Stephanie: Yes.

[ Applause ]

Kristen: Well, thank you. It is good to be back.

Ridge: All right. You all have the minutes from last week in front of you, but instead of reading through all that, I'll just sum it up. Forrester is taking a new direction. We've been the last few years cultivating a new line which was successful financially, but I think it hurt us as far as prestige and brand recognition.

Kristen: You're talking about Brooke's bedroom?

Ridge: Yeah. It was only meant to be an interesting sideline, but more and more, that's what people thought of when they heard the name "Forrester."

Stephanie: Underwear.

Ridge: It did hurt us. It hurt the couture line, and that's always been the heart and soul of this company. Last week, we took steps to rectify this situation, to rescue our image. We stopped production of Brooke's bedroom line, and I'm happy to say that we've had an overwhelmingly positive response from all of our most important clients.

Kristen: And what about Brooke? Does she support the decision? Or does she even know about it?

Ridge: You know what, Kristen? I have no idea. To tell you the truth, I don't really care what Brooke knows.

**************************************************************************************************

Massimo: So Yves, you've been with Forrester International since the beginning, haven't you?

Yves: I was the third person that they hired.

Massimo: So you've seen a lot of changes?

Yves: Ah, yes. And now, we are headed into a new era.

Massimo: Mm-hmm, with Ridge Forrester at the helm.

Yves: A good move.

Massimo: You think so?

Yves: Without a doubt. He's dynamic, capable.

Massimo: Ambitious, from what I've heard.

[ Yves laughs ]

Yves: More than ambitious -- hungry. In fact, he reminds me a bit of you in your younger days. No, no. No, I'm serious. He has the same drive to succeed. In fact, if Forrester were a public company, I would be buying up all their shares that I could.

Massimo: You intrigue me, Yves.

Yves: Oh la la, I know that look. Don't tell me you are thinking of adding the house of Forrester to your empire.

Massimo: It's not the company I'm interested in. It's the man who's running it.

Yves: Well, I could arrange an introduction.

Massimo: No, no, no, no, no, no. But there is something you can do. You can be my eyes and ears at that meeting.

************************************************************************************************

Kristen: Settle down, Ridge. I'm not accusing you of anything. I'm just wondering if Brooke is aware that her bedroom line was cut.

Megan: She is.

Eric: Did you tell her, Megan?

Megan: No, sir.

Eric: Well, how did Brooke find out?

Ridge: Rick told her, right?

Megan: Right. He went to see her yesterday.

Ridge: Trying to get her to tighten my leash?

Eric: What was Brooke's reaction?

Megan: I don't know what she told Rick, sir.

Stephanie: What did she tell you?

Megan: It's hard for her. Brooke's bedroom has always been important to her for a number of reasons.

Stephanie: Well, I'm hoping that she'll come to her senses and understand that this is what's best for the company.

Thorne: Mother, you know that's not how Brooke is going to feel. Is she, Megan?

Megan: Actually, I don't think she'll fight it. Even if she could, she's really not up for that right now.

Ridge: Rick must be crushed.

Taylor: Sweetheart, be nice.

Ridge: Hey, I'm just stating the obvious here. Baby brother made a power play that didn't work out. Hopefully, he learned his lesson. Shall we move on?

***********************************************************************************

Rick: Well?

Amber: Oh, my god! You look like such a stud!

Rick: Actually, I was going more for the seasoned professional.

Amber: Oh, well, that's what I meant. They'll have to take you seriously now.

Rick: No, they don't. They don't have to do anything. They don't even have to let me in the door.

Amber: What are they going to do, throw you out?

Rick: I'm just saying that I don't own a single share of Forrester stock.

Amber: Not now, but you will. You will own more than twice as much as Ridge. You and Bridget will have controlling interest in the company. They'll all be working for you.

Rick: Don't let them hear you say that.

Amber: Why not? You have just as much right as anybody to be at that meeting, and don't let anyone tell you differently.

Rick: Oh, Amber, I'm definitely not backing down. I promised mom that I would look out for her best interests, and that's exactly what I'm going to do, whether they like it or not.

Amber: And you know, this doesn't have to be awful. This is your father and Stephanie we're talking about here, and they love you, you know? They just have to realize that you're grown up now, and you know what you're talking about.

Rick: It isn't that simple. This is the first battle in a long siege.

Amber: You never know. They might surprise you. You know, your mom sure surprised me when she sent me those maternity clothes.

Rick: That was nice.

Amber: Yeah. I mean, it was more than nice. Did you see those dresses?

Rick: No, why?

Amber: They were nice. They were really nice, you know? They were mature and sophisticated, and it makes me think maybe your mom's opinion of me is changing, you know? Maybe she sees me as someone with a little more depth, or at least some potential for depth.

Rick: You really liked those dresses, didn't you?

Amber: Well, no. You know, they're just not my style, you know? But that's not my point. My point is, if your mom can learn to look at me in a new way, then the same is true for you and your family. You're going to go in there today, and they are going to sit up and take notice, because you aren't going to give them any other choice. Now, you go into that board meeting and knock them dead.

*********************************************************************************************************

Yves: Why this sudden interest in ridge Forrester?

Massimo: Well, by your own account, he has enormous potential.

Yves: Massimo, if you have any idea of luring him from the family company --

Massimo: Relax, my friend. I have no intention of taking away your fearless leader. Far from it.

Yves: Then why do you want me to do this for you?

Massimo: I have my reasons, and fortunately, in this case, they coincide with yours. You will help me, of course.

Yves: Yes, of course, but I must be going. They're expecting me.

Massimo: Pay close attention. Every detail is significant.

Yves: You can count on me.

Massimo: I know I can. Ciao, Yves.

Yves: Ciao. Ciao.

Massimo: Thank you for coming. And you, my son, can count on me.

********************************************************************************************************

Amber: Your daddy's probably at the board meeting by now. Too bad you couldn't see him. He looked so handsome, like a future CEO. They'll see that he means business. Even if they don't agree with him, they're going to have to start treating him with respect.

************************************************************************************************

Ridge: All right. On with new business here. Actually, I have an item that's not on the agenda.

Stephanie: Oh, is this the surprise that you talked about?

Ridge: Yes. I'd like to propose adding a seat to our board of directors.

Stephanie: What?

Eric: Any particular reason?

Ridge: Yes. I believe there's a voice that needs to be heard -- a voice that isn't now being heard -- the voice of our client.

Thorne: Huh. You want someone here representing the customer?

Eric: Do you have someone in mind?

Ridge: I think it needs to be a woman -- a professional woman who understands the demands placed on working women today. I think it has to be someone who's well-known in the community and socially connected.

Stephanie: A role model with morals, please.

Ridge: That's very important, Mother.

Thorne: Now, Ridge, that's a tall order.

Ridge: But that's only the beginning, throne. She also needs to be aware and understand the world of fashion and to understand Forrester's place in the history of fashion and to share our vision for the future. It also wouldn't hurt if she happened to look drop-dead gorgeous in our designs.

Kristen: Well, this sounds great, but where are we going to find this superwoman?

Ridge: Hmm. You're looking at her. I hereby nominate Dr. Taylor hays Forrester to the board of directors.

Stephanie: Wonderful.

Eric: I second the nomination.

Ridge: All in favor?

Thorne: Ridge, wait. Look, Brooke may have something to say about this.

Taylor: Maybe I should go out in the hallway, and throne and Kristen can sit and discuss this with the rest of the family.

Ridge: No, Taylor. There's really nothing to discuss. Taylor meets every criterion necessary.

Thorne: I don't disagree with you, Ridge. I just think that Kristen and I are a little surprised. I mean, I didn't realize that you were interested in the business side of things.

Taylor: Well, when Brooke was CEO, it was wisest for me to keep my distance.

Kristen: Right, but not when Ridge is in charge.

Taylor: Listen. I want you all to know that I am so excited about the plans Ridge has to turn the company around, and he seems to feel I can make some kind of positive contribution. So if you were to vote me in, I would be honored to help and to be a part of your board. So I'll go out in the hallway, and you guys can discuss this.

Stephanie: No, no, no. I don't think that's necessary. I agree with ridge. Really, we don't have to discuss this. I think we should simply take a vote. Those in favor say "aye."

Ridge: Aye.

Eric: Aye.

Thorne: Aye.

Kristen: Aye.

Ridge: Motion carried.

[ Stephanie laughs ]

Stephanie: Congratulations.

[ Applause ]

Taylor: Thank you.

Ridge: Hey, Rick. We're a little busy here right now. We're having a board meeting.

Rick: Yeah, I know, Ridge. That's why I'm here.

Ridge: Well, your name isn't on the agenda, so I'll ask you to please leave.

Eric: Ridge --

Ridge: Dad, I think it's time he started playing by the rules.

Rick: You know what, Ridge? This isn't a game, and I'm not playing. I'm here representing Brooke Logan, majority stockholder.

Ridge: Oh, really? Hmm. Do you have a signed letter? Do you have power of attorney? Do you have a permission slip from mommy? No? Then get the hell out of here.

Rick: You know what, Ridge? I can see why you'd feel threatened.

Ridge: Threatened, Ricky?

Rick: Sure. My family owns more than half of this company, which means that we own you.
