Jessica: Sorry I'm late. I had some last-minute maneuvering to do to get Dusty Donovan a court date.

Ben: Well, you are gonna have your hands full with that guy. Everything taken care of?

Jessica: Yes, and for the rest of the night, you have my undivided attention.

Sarah: Get off me. Take your hands off of me!

Cop #1: Come on.

Sarah: You have the wrong person!

Jack: Mitzi, let's sit you down. You gonna be all right?

Cop #2: Maybe I should get her a drink of water?

Jack: Yeah, that'd be a good idea. You just received some pretty shocking news there. Are you sure you're gonna be okay?

Mitzi: I don't know. You just said -- somebody said that Rose is -- no, it can't be true. Tell me it's not true!

Jack: Take it easy, all right?

Mitzi: Oh, my God -- I can't believe it! How? What happened to her?

[Clapping]

Carly: Now, that is quite a performance, Mitzi. Take a bow.

Paul: You know what I think, Rose? I think I'm the biggest idiot on the face of the earth for ever thinking that I could make this work with you. How could I do that?  How could I think that I would ever make it work with a woman who already played me for the fool once? And all these good people, you can go home. Find someone else to laugh at behind their back. Paul Ryan is officially retired from your circus.

[Sobbing]

Rose: I am sorry. I love you so much. Don't do this to me. Please, I love you so much.

Paul: I loved you.

Paul: With this ring -- I do not thee wed.

[Heart monitor sound]

Paul: I'm going to find a way to make this up to you.

Rose: I loved you.

Paul: I know.

Rose: Why? Why did you do this to me?

Paul: Oh, Rose. I didn't do this to you.

[Monitor flat-lines]

[Cell phone ringing]

Paul: Hello?

[In a distorted voice]

Craig: Paul Ryan?

Paul: Yeah. Who's this?

Craig: Who murdered Rose? The answer's at your family burial ground.

Paul: Who is this?

Craig: The proof is in the mausoleum. Look inside yourself.

Paul: What is this, a joke? Who are you? Hello?

Barbara: Can we please go upstairs to my suite?

Jennifer: Hah, why?

Barbara: Because we've got to figure out what we're going to do, and I don't want to hash it out in public, Jennifer.

Jennifer: Well, you know, I feel like having a drink. Maybe even a decent meal. You can do what you want.

Kim: Um, excuse me. Hi, you two. You in the middle of a mother-daughter night out?

Barbara: Something like that. Right, honey?

Kim: You know, Mom and I have a huge table to ourselves over here. And it's been such a long time since we had a chance really to visit. Wouldn't you like to come and join us?

Barbara: You know what? We have plans tonight. So we were just going to have a quick little drink and then go on, right, honey?

Jennifer: Aunt Kim, you look beautiful. How've you been?

Kim: Thank you, darling. Just fine. Thanks for asking. Okay, I'm sorry you have plans. We'll do it another time.

Nancy: Did you ask them to join us?

Kim: I tried. But I obviously walked into the middle of something. Barbara's trying to put a good face on everything, and Jennifer is barely talking to her, I guess.

Nancy: Poor Barbara. Things just seem to go from bad to worse for her.

Barbara: How can you just sit there like that? Don't you even care what happened to that bottle and those glasses?

Jennifer: I care more about the fact that you planted them on Molly in the first place.

Barbara: We have to find out what happened to them! The police searched Molly's room up and down. They found nothing!

Jennifer: Okay, here. Why don't you call down to the police station and talk to them? You can tell them all about how you removed evidence from a crime scene -- then planted it on Molly -- and how morally outraged you are that someone stole the evidence that you tampered with in the first place. I'm sure the police will be more than happy to help with that, Mom.

Barbara: I don't like your tone, young lady.

Jennifer: You're bothered with my tone? You should be more concerned about the --

Barbara: You'd better be concerned about your brother. This family has been through hell these last months -- these last years, and we do not need any more trouble.

Jennifer: With the stunt that you've just pulled, Mother, something tells me the trouble has just begun.

Holden: Lily? Honey? Are you all right? Can I get you anything?

Lily: I can't stand the thought of breathing

Holden: Lily? We need to talk. Honey, please -- you need to open the door. I didn't get a chance to talk to you on the way back from Atlantic City, 'cause you were sleeping. And I needed to -- you know what, never mind that. Just get yourself together, and then we'll head back home and see the kids. Lily? Lily, you need to open the door. You don't have to talk. I'll do all the talking, okay? Lily. Lily, you have to say something. You have to open the door. Or I'm gonna have to knock it down. Okay, I'm counting to five. One -- two -- three -- four

Lily: What's the matter? Isn't it good for you?

Holden: You have to stop this. No more, Lily.

Lily: Yes, yes, I agree. No more Lily. No more Lily. Just Rose and Holden. Remember how bad we were? How good we were together? Remember that?

Holden: Don’t. Don't do this. Look at me!

Lily: I'm looking at you. I can't take my eyes off of you, or my hands. I just get -- I can't stop it! I just can’t. And I don't want to. Remember how hot we were together? Remember how we used to wake up together? We can have that again.

Maitre d': Good evening, sir.

Dusty: Good evening. Table for one, please?

Maitre d': Right this way.

Dusty: Ah, sir? I think that table over there will work just fine. Evening, ladies.

Nancy: Good evening.

Kim: Good evening.

Barbara: All I've done is try to protect my family. That's all I've ever tried to do. It's even more important now.

Jennifer: Even though Paul had nothing to do with Rose's murder, and you know that, don't you?

Barbara: Yes. Of course I do. Paul is innocent.

Jennifer: Well, if you truly believe that, then the only person you're trying to protect is yourself.

Barbara: Would you listen to me Jennifer? I did nothing to Rose.

Jennifer: If by nothing you mean tampering with evidence. Well, if you're not protecting yourself, then why did you do it?

Barbara: I took the bottle and the glasses because, yes, at first I thought that maybe Paul had killed her. But then I realized that I was wrong! But you know what? There are a thousand people out there that won't be so easily convinced. They will try and convict Paul and me just because of our history -- our family name -- and if they think that he is innocent, they'll think that I am guilty. I had to clear us both.

Jennifer: You can't clear your name by committing a crime, Mom! And if Paul finds out --

Barbara: He won’t. Now promise me -- you won't tell him what I've done for him.

Jennifer: You're asking me to lie to Paul? And to the police?

Barbara: I'm asking you for a little loyalty. To your family. Now we have to make sure that the police focus on the right people. It's time they start investigating the real guilty party.

Paul: Hello? Anybody here? This is some kind of a sick joke.

[In a distorted voice]

Craig: Look. Isn't Rose in here? Look inside yourself.

[Lily groans]

[Laughs]

Lily: Smiley. That's cute.

[Knock on door]

Holden: Dr. Michaels. Come on in. Thanks for getting here so fast.

Dr. Michaels: Not a problem. Hello, Lily.

Holden: Lily? Dr. Michaels is here to talk to you.

Lily: Lily? Does anybody see Lily around here?

[Whistles]

Holden: She's been acting like this for a couple days now.

Lily: So have you. Can you, like, prescribe something for him? Because this whole calling me Lily thing, it's getting really, really annoying.

Dr. Michaels: Why don't you give us a few minutes? We'll be all right. Won't we?

Lily: Check on the crumb-snatchers. Rosie does not need a baby-sitter. Unless he's, like, six feet tall and ready for a good time.

Holden: I'll be back in a few.

Lily: So what brings you by, doc?

Dr. Michaels: I was hoping I could speak to Lily.

Lily: She's not here. I know you confuse us. That's okay. We're used to that.

Dr. Michaels: I know a quick way to tell you apart.

Lily: Oh, you do? You know what it is? Okay, what is it?

Dr. Michaels: Lily wears a wedding ring. This one, right here. She never takes it off. You know why? Reminds her of her love for her husband. She and Holden have a wonderful life. They have three small children, and those children need Lily so much right now.

Lily: Stop confusing me! Stop it!

Dr. Michaels: You have to hear me.

Lily: I don't want to hear anything you have to say. Just go back to the loony bin, please.

Dr. Michaels: Look, if you don't talk about your loss, you're not going to be able to get over Rose's death.

Lily: She's not dead. She's not! Just leave me alone!

Dr. Michaels: Lily! Lily, come back!

Sarah: Get off.

Cop #3: Sit.

Troy: Sarah, thank God they found you. Where've you been? Are you all right? How did you find her?

Cop #3: She got busted stealing a wallet in the bus station.

Sarah: I was borrowing the I.D. And the money. I was gonna pay the lady back.

Troy: You've got to get that I.D., Right? You need it for cigarettes, booze, whatever.

Sarah: You know, just put me in jail so I don't have to listen to her.

Jessica: Excuse me, officer -- the woman whose wallet was taken, did she resemble Sarah?

Cop #3: Yeah, you could say that.

Jessica: An I.D. That could pass for your own, the bus station -- you weren't looking to score booze or cigarettes, were you, Sarah? You were looking for something closer to your heart.

Mitzi: I just found out my best friend is dead, and you're accusing me of acting?

Carly: Yeah, and you're not doing a very good job of it, either, I might add.

Mitzi: How did this happen? I told you, I just saw her.

Jack: It was Lily you saw.

Mitzi: Lily?

Jack: She was missing. We got a lead from one of her credit cards that she used in Atlantic City. Holden went to go check up on it, and we were right. It was Lily.

Mitzi: But she was -- her hair, her clothes, everything, she was just like Rose. I don't understand. How can my Rosie be dead?

Carly: That's what we want you to tell us. We have proof that you were back in Oakdale on the day of Rose's wedding, and it's only a matter of time before we have the proof that you were the one who poisoned her.

Mitzi: She was poisoned?

Carly: As if you didn't know that.

Mitzi: I didn't do it, okay? I loved Rose like a sister.

Carly: Even though she was threatening to have you put in prison for the next ten years for embezzling from the beauty shop?

Jack: Carly, enough.

Mitzi: Rose forgave me, okay? Lily told me so. You can ask her. Just ask Lily.

Holden: Where is she?

Dr. Michaels: Holden, I'm so sorry.

Holden: Don't be sorry. Just tell me where she is.

Dr. Michaels: I was talking to her. I was trying to reach the part of her that knows she isn't Rose, and she just got very threatened. So she got manic, she lost her temper, she pushed me, I fell.

Holden: Are you all right?

Dr. Michaels: I'm all right, but when I got to the door, I couldn't even see what direction she'd gone in.

Holden: Well, we'd better find her fast, because the shape she's in, who knows what she'll do if I don't get to her first.

Maitre d': Hi. Your regular table?

Craig: No, no, max. The wife and I still have a thing for the crème brûlée, so I thought I'd surprise her.

Maitre d': Ah, would you like to wait in the bar?

Craig: Um -- no, you know, I think I'll take a table. That's good. Thank you.

Lily: Hey. Look, you gotta help me. Dusty.

Dusty: The kind of help you need, I don't think I can give you.

Lily: Oh, no, you don't mean that. You -- you love me. You've always, always loved me.

Dusty: Please. I'm asking you --

Lily: You tried to warn me a million times, a million times, I just didn't listen. Why didn't I just listen to you?

Dusty: Lily, I'm asking you to stop. Lily, you gotta stop that.

Lily: Hey, I'm not Lily! I'm Rose! Why can't -- why doesn't anybody get that?

Dusty: I get it.

Rose: You, of all people, should understand that. You.

Dusty: I do. I do. I understand. You're not Rose. No matter how much you dress like her or act like her, you will not be her. And there's no use trying.

Lily: You know what? Leave me alone.

Dusty: Rose is dead, you hear me? She's dead.

Paul: You gotta be kidding me.

Hal: Hold it! Hold it right there.

Holden: Where are you?

Dusty: Looks like we're headed toward the farm.

Holden: You stay on her. I'm on my way.

Hal: Here. All right. Make sure that gets there.

Paul: Am I under arrest?

Hal: No, but you're under suspicion, so let's go over your story one more time.

Paul: It's the truth, Hal. It's not gonna change, no matter how many times I tell it to you.

Hal: Well, then I'm sure you wouldn't mind telling me one more time.

Paul: I was at Al's. I was alone. I got an anonymous phone call on my cell phone.

Hal: Mm-hmm. Did you recognize the voice? Did you know who it was?

Paul: No. He wanted to remain anonymous.

Hal: How did you know it was a he?

Paul: Okay, fine, "they." That work for you? How's that? "They." They called, said that if I came here, that I would find proof of who murdered Rose. So I found a goblet and the rest of this stuff, and you know the rest, because that's when you showed up.

Hal: Would you mind going out and check the perimeter? You get evidence about Rose's murder, and you don't call the cops? You should have called the cops.

Paul: I didn't know what was going on, Hal. I didn't want to get you involved until I knew what was going on. But -- if I didn't call you, then who did?

Hal: Well, we got an anonymous tip about a break-in, and when I found out that it was at the Ryan mausoleum, I kind of wanted to check it out first-hand. You know what I mean?

Paul: Right, so we both get anonymous phone calls, and then you show up here right at the moment to catch me red-handed with the missing evidence. Come on, Hal!

Hal: Oh. Could be coincidence.

Paul: Could be conspiracy! You find out who made those phone calls, you'll find out who stashed this evidence here.

Hal: Well, I gotta tell you, Paul, when I walk in here and I find you with that goblet in your hand, the same goblet that was used to poison Rose --

Paul: Come on, Hal, you know me.

Hal: Half of Oakdale is pointing the finger at you as the killer, Paul, but not me. I'm taking it slow, Paul, and I'm trying to respect that you're still grieving over Rose, and I'm making damn sure that this investigation is fair and impartial.

Paul: There is nothing fair or impartial about you showing up here, Hal.

Hal: But if this is some game that you're playing -- you and your father.

Paul: This isn't a game, Hal. This is my life!

Hal: You know, that's the first thing that you got right. This is an investigation in a premeditated murder for which the penalty is life in prison without parole -- and you just moved to the top of the suspect list.

Paul: I didn't do anything, Hal.

Hal: Go home, Paul. But don't you even think about leaving town.

Lily: Leave me alone! Why -- why are you doing this?

Dusty: Why am I doing this?

Lily: Why are you doing this to me?

Dusty: Why are you doing this to Rose, huh? You're making a fool of yourself, and you're making a mockery of your sister's memory.

Lily: I am not. I -- I'm --

Dusty: You're not? Listen very closely -- Rose is dead, and it hurts. But you gotta be a woman, and you gotta let it hurt. Let your sister rest in peace, damn it!

Lily: Who are you calling?

Dusty: I'm calling your husband.

Lily: You're gonna betray me, too? You're gonna betray me, too?

Dusty: I'm trying to take care of you --

Lily: I thought I could trust you!

Dusty: I'm trying to help you!

Lily: You're trying to help me? Then leave me alone! Stay out of my way.

Dusty: Lily! Lily!

Holden: I called everyone that I can think of. It's -- it's as if she's just -- fallen off the edge -- in more ways than one. I should probably just call the police.

[Phone rings] Lily? Is that you?

Dusty: It's Dusty. You're looking for her too, huh?

Holden: Have you seen her?

Dusty: You could say that. She just left the Lakeview a few minutes ago -- screamin' at the top of her lungs about how now she is Rose.

Holden: Where is she now?

Dusty: I'm trying to follow her now.

Holden: Where are you?

Dusty: Looks like we're headed toward the farm.

Holden: You stay on her. I'm on my way.

[Gasping]

Dusty: Come on, Lily. Where did you go? Where did you go? Damn it! Where did she go?!

[Lily walks into the pond. Sees Rose’s face in the water.]

[Whimpering]

Lily: Rose, wait -- wait. No, wait, wait, wait! Wait for me. Please, no, don't leave me again! I can't do this -- no, don't go! I can't -- I can't do this without you. I just can’t. Don't leave me again, please! Please, don't leave me

Jessica: You were trying to go see Bonnie, weren't you? All visitors have to show a photo I.D. And since there's a court order prohibiting Sarah Travers from seeing her, you needed someone else's identity and money for a bus ticket.

Troy: Sarah? Is there something you'd like to tell me?

Sarah: Yes. She's full of it. She couldn't keep her own kid out of jail, so now she wants to send me there, too.

Ben: It's not true, Sarah.

Sarah: Oh, yeah, that's right; I'm just a kid from a shelter. What do I know?

Cop #3: I'm sorry to break things up, but I want to get her processed before the New Year.

Jessica: I'm sorry, officer. She's not going anywhere without her attorney.

Jack: We are going to do a thorough investigation, but in order for that to happen, we need all well-meaning civilians to keep their well-meaning hands out of the case. Now, look, when you're designing, do I tell you that a -- a dress is too long and it needs to be shortened or a blouse needs a little more cleavage?

Carly: Yes, actually, that's exactly what you say.

Jack: Okay, my point is do you want justice for Rose?

Carly: You know I do.

Jack: Okay, then, let the professionals handle this. I love you. Buh-bye.

Nancy: Did Holden know anything about Lily?

Kim: Dusty called Holden. He's on his way, and Dusty’s following Lily.

Nancy: Well, I hope they find Lily soon.

Kim: Yeah. Me too. She's obviously in a lot of trouble. Okay, Mom, let's go.

Paul: I know you did it, Barbara. Why don't you do us all a favor this time and just admit it?

Barbara: What are you talking about?

Jennifer: Can we at least try to keep the volume down, Paul?

Paul: So, I get this funny phone call, right? Telling me to go to the mausoleum, and guess what I find there. Go on, tell her. Tell her!

Barbara: Tell her what?

Paul: The missing evidence from Rose's murder -- it's in a crypt with my name on it, which is just sick! But that's not even the best part. The best part is that the police show up at precisely the right moment to catch me, literally, red-handed with the missing evidence. Seems they got an anonymous phone call, too. Congratulations, Barbara. You wanted to punish me for loving Rose? Well, you win. This time.

Dusty: Lily? I saw your car -- so I know you're here. Lily?

Rose: Lily? Lily?

Lily: Wait for me, Rose.

Rose: We can be together -- forever.

Lily: I'm almost there. Just wait for me, Rose.

[Lily goes underwater.]

Dusty: Lily! Where are you? Oh, God. Oh, God -- lily. Lily! Lil -- Lily!

[Gasping] Lily!

[Gasping] -- Lily!

[Gasping] Lily! Lily?

[Gasping] Lily?

[Gasping]

Jessica: Once Sarah’s released, you'll just need to sign a few papers, and then you can take her back to the shelter. I don't think she has anything to worry about.

Troy: I wish that were true.

Jessica: Is there something I don't know?

Troy: When Sarah ran off, I had no choice but to report her as a runaway. Add that to her record? The state might insist on sending her upstate. There's a juvenile facility up there that's more secure than ours.

Sarah: Troy, can you just sign the papers so we can get out of here and away from her?

Troy: We'll be in touch tomorrow.

Ben: Well, tell you what. Let's -- let's just go somewhere quiet and talk about what just happened here.

Jessica: Okay.

Mitzi: Do you think I'm a heartless killer, Jack?

Jack: It doesn't matter what I think. Where can we find you?

Mitzi: Gee, I don't know. That sheriff yanked me out of that bar in A.C. And dumped me here. I don't have any clothes, any money, any friends -- why don't you check the nearest park bench?

Jack: You know the wagon wheel? On 55?

Mitzi: I've heard of it.

Jack: Okay. Here. It's enough money to stay at a room.

Mitzi: Thanks, Jack. You've always been so good to me. You and Rose were my only real friends here, you know that?

Jack: Don't mention it, Mitzi. And I mean that, don't mention it to anyone. And don't leave town. What's that?

Hal: I think we just found our smoking gun.

Barbara: I don't understand. I don't know how this could have possibly happened, Paul. It's impossible --

Paul: Anything is possible when it comes to you, Barbara. It's not enough that you poisoned the love of my life, but now you want me to hang for it?

Barbara: No, no. I love you. You kids are my whole life, don't you know that? I'd do anything for you. Anything.

Paul: Including planting evidence.

Barbara: No, no, no, listen, please -- Jennifer, would you tell him? Would you tell him? I've been with Jen the entire night. We've been here together. I didn't use the phone, I didn't go anywhere. Jennifer, tell him.

Paul: You tried, and you tried. And you finally destroyed Rose. And I'll be damned if I let you get away with it.

Barbara: I am your mother. Your whole life, I have done everything to protect you. Now, I don't know how this happened tonight. I don't know what happened, but we've got to work together. We've got to find out how that evidence got there. Paul, please.

Paul: I'll see you in hell, Mother.

Barbara: Paul!

[Sorrowful music plays]

[Dusty pulls Lily out of the water.]

Dusty: Lil. Lil, can you hear me? Lil -- listen to me -- you're not going to die today, all right? You're not gonna die. Not you, baby. It's not your turn, you hear me? Breathe! Breathe -- that a girl, that a girl. That a girl. I'm right here. I'm right here, Lil. It's okay. It's okay. I got you.

Lily: Rose, Rose -- she's in there. Rose is in there!

Dusty: No, she's not out there.

Lily: You've got to go in there. She's in there. You've got to go back in there and save her!

Dusty: No, I can't save her. I wish I could, I can't, she's dead, you hear me?

Lily: I will do anything --

Dusty: You're sister's dead! I know it's hard for you to accept, you hear me? I know it's hard. Because it wasn't supposed to end this way, but it did. And no matter what we do, no matter how hard we try, she's gone.

Lily: No.

Dusty: Yes, it's true, and you pretending to be her is not going to help her, you understand?

Lily: Well, then I need to go in there and be with her because she needs me!

Dusty: No! She needs -- she needs you here, she needs you living. She needs you and me to be a memory. For her to be alive, you know? With us, just you and me. She needs you, you're her Tiger Lily. You're her Tiger Lily, remember? You remember, Lil? You remember that?

Lily: That's what she used to call me --

Dusty: Yeah.

Lily: -- When she wanted me to be strong.

Dusty: That's right, she wants you to be strong.

Lily: I can't be strong. I want to wake up and find out that this didn't happen!

Dusty: No! No, it happened.

Lily: It's all a nightmare.

Dusty: It happened.

[Lily sobbing]

Dusty: It happened, honey.

Lily: She's gone --

Dusty: Yes. Yes, she is, she's gone.

Lily: But I can't do it without her --

Dusty: Yes, you can.

Lily: No --

Dusty: Yes, you can.

Lily: I can't do it. I can't do it.

Dusty: Look at me, look at me. You can, Lily -- sure you can. Tiger Lily, look at me. You're gonna do this. You're gonna get through this. You and me. You and me. You've just got to let go. I've got you. I've got you. I got you. I got you.

[Sobbing]

On the next, "As The World Turns" --

Rose: Nobody murders Rose D'Angelo and gets away with it.

Hal: She's an opportunist, Jack. People like her do whatever it takes to survive.

Jack: Molly planted evidence on Dusty.

Hal: Rose's on-again, off-again lover --

Jack: What about Barbara?

Hal: She's our number one suspect.

Jack: Paul Ryan.

Hal: Do you think he could've done it?

Jack: I think Paul’s our prime suspect.
