Alison: I think that it looks like my mother.
Aaron: Nah, the resemblance is on my side. See? Big heads run in my family.
Alison: Okay, so -- I got your page. So what's up?
Aaron: Are you free for lunch?
Alison: Oh, please, don't play food cop.
Aaron: Somebody's got to make sure you eat, now.
Alison: You mean besides my Mom, Emily, and Hal?
Aaron: Yeah, and your husband?
Alison: Okay, okay. Just as long as you don't make me clean my plate.
Aaron: How about Al's?
Alison: Sure. It'll be great to get out of this place for a while.
Jack: What makes you so dead certain that Paul’s the killer?
Craig: His father says he is.
Jack: Ah, so James Stenbeck sold out his own son? To you?
Craig: Yeah.
Jack: What the hell are you meeting with the guy in the first place, Craig?
Craig: Well, I wasn't bringing him cupcakes, Jack.
Jack: I should haul you in, you know that?
Craig: For doing your job?
Jack: No, for tampering with an ongoing investigation.
Craig: Jack, I'm handing this to you.
Jack: Why?
Craig: Civic duty.
Jack: Civic duty.
Craig: Mm-hmm.
Jack: Right, yeah, that's pretty high on your priority list. Right up there with saving the whales. We'll find who killed Rose without any help from you or Stenbeck, you got that?
Craig: Jack, what do you want, a road map or something? You want me to drive you to his place?
Jack: No, I'll build this case based on facts and evidence and forensic science, not the words of some psychopath, Craig. Back off, or you're gonna be the one behind bars -- again.
Craig: Hah.
Jennifer: You really don't know what the police found? You didn't ask?
Molly: Of course, I asked. It's not for public knowledge, Jennifer.
Jennifer: Oh, Molly. My father's on this investigation. I will find out soon enough.
Molly: Okay, fine. They found a bottle.
Jennifer: A bottle? Dusty's not on any medication, is he?
Molly: The man's an STD waiting to happen. I'm sorry. That was a bad -- bad joke.
Jennifer: Yes, it was. Especially if there was poison in that bottle, this isn't gonna be very funny.
Molly: No. It's how I cope.
Jennifer: Well, do you think he did it?
Molly: They found the bottle. They confiscated it. So was there aftershave in there? I don't think so. Do you?
Jennifer: You don't seem very upset about this.
Molly: Dusty will survive. He always does. You know what's really strange? Even dead, Rose is still causing the man trouble.
Jennifer: You know, I'm sorry. I don't care what the police found. Dusty is not a killer.
Molly: Oh, you don't know what people are capable of. Not even the ones you sleep with. Remember that.
Dusty: You got a funny sense of humor for a cop.
Hal: Do I look like I'm laughing?
Dusty: You're telling me that Molly McKinnon pointed the finger at me?
Hal: Well, let's just say that she really got our attention.
Dusty: Well, she has been having a rough time accepting the fact that I was in love with Rose, so maybe this is her funny way of retaliating.
Hal: And if you get charged with murder, then what? She shrugs her shoulders and says "tough luck"? I mean, that kind of takes retaliation to new heights, doesn't it?
Dusty: Ever since Paul threatened Rose's life, things have been real rocky between Molly and me.
Hal: So the woman scorned gets her hands on a vial of poison?
Dusty: No. It was Paul Ryan. He was very disturbed about Rose and me. He's broken into my place before. I know it was him.
Hal: Did anybody else happen to see him there? I mean, at your place.
Dusty: Yeah, Molly did.
Hal: Yeah, see -- no matter how you spin it, Dusty, it just all comes back to Molly.
Emily: Nothing. Carly, we've got to face it. The Roller Palace books are not here.
Carly: Then where?
Emily: The shop?
Carly: Rose was selling the shop. Why would she keep her financial records there?
Emily: Why not? It's worth a try, right?
Carly: We're gonna need a key.
Emily: Uh, key. Paul -- I bet you Paul has one. Give him a call on your cell phone while I try to straighten this place up.
Carly: Oh, he's not picking up. I'm gonna leave a message. Paul, hi. This is Carly Snyder calling. Emily and I were hoping that you could meet us over at the Roller Palace. There's something we want to check out. It's pretty important. Thanks.
Emily: So, what if he doesn't call back?
Carly: We break in.
Holden: Lily, honey? What are you two doing?
Emily: Uh, looking for something.
Holden: What for?
Carly: Can we tell you when we find it?
Holden: Lily in the kitchen?
Emily: No, she's not here.
Holden: Well, where is she?
Carly: No clue.
Emily: We've been here for a while, Holden, we haven't seen her.
Carly: What's going on?
Holden: I'm not sure.
Rosanna: Do you know what I wish for you this Christmas?
Lucy: What?
Rosanna: I wish for you your beautiful smile back. Do you know any way I can make that happen?
Lucy: I'll be fine.
Rosanna: Not sitting up in your room alone, you won’t.
Lucy: There's nowhere I want to go.
Rosanna: Oh, sweetie, I know you're hurt. There's so many good things out there for you. Just think about it. Next year, you're gonna be going away to school. You're gonna have all sorts of wonderful new classes and make all sorts of new friends. It'll be a great adventure.
Lucy: I was supposed to have those adventures with Aaron. That's not gonna happen now.
Rosanna: No, it won’t.
Lucy: It's my fault, isn't it?
Rosanna: Oh, no. It's not your fault. You were right to speak up about it. He shouldn't have lied to you. He shouldn't have lied about his job. He certainly should've been honest about Alison.
Lucy: Yeah, but I've seen you and Daddy bounce back from so many things that I thought with Aaron, if we just got -- if we gave it time, we -- could get past it. But now with the baby, it's -- I just think this time I lost Aaron forever.
Rosanna: Oh, sweetie.
Craig: Jack, he accused his son. You can't ignore that. You can't ignore the fact that he has important information about Rose's murder.
Jack: Well, I can come up with a dozen reasons why James would accuse Paul.
Craig: Like, maybe, because it's true?
Jack: But I can't figure out your angle on this whole thing, Craig.
Craig: I'm trying to protect my family here, Jack.
Jack: From Paul?
Craig: Well, the whining little prince has befriended Rosanna. The more I tell her to keep her distance --
Jack: Yeah, the friendlier she gets. Yeah, I've been down that road before. I'm married to her sister.
Craig: Yeah, you know. You know.
Jack: Rosanna's not in any danger, Craig. So why don't you go home to your wife. I'll handle this investigation.
Craig: You arrest Paul Ryan, I'll stay clear of this investigation. If not, who knows where I turn up, Jack. That's the deal. Take it or leave it.
Hal: You know, people are funny, Dusty. The ones that blow up really don't scare me that much.
Dusty: What does that mean?
Hal: Well, Paul pretty much stood up in front of everybody at that church and confessed that he was angry enough to kill Rose.
Dusty: Mm-hmm. That's a guy. Don't second guess it. Arrest him.
Hal: Oh, no, no, no, no. People who poison don't advertise. See, premeditated murder, it's -- its quiet. It's deliberate, under the radar. You know.
Dusty: I'm not a killer, Hal. You know that.
Hal: I'll be right back. McBride? Keep an eye on Donovan.
[Phone rings]
Jack: Snyder.
Hal: Jack, I want you to pick up Molly McKinnon and bring her down to the station.
Jack: Sure. What's up?
Hal: I'll explain it when you get here, buddy.
Jack: All right. I'll be right there.
Craig: New lead?
Jack: None of your damn business.
Craig: Well, I guess then this isn't, either. You might want it.
Jack: Where'd you get this?
Craig: It doesn't matter. Rose was murdered, and Poppy's so proud, he's saying it with flowers. And what are you gonna do about it?
Jack: You'll be the first to know.
Craig: Jack, Jack. You're gonna have trouble that looks a lot like me if I don't get a headline that reads, "socialite Paul Ryan arrested for murder one."
Emily: And Lily, how's she?
Holden: She's not good. She's shutting herself off from me and the kids. Lucinda asked her if she wanted to get involved in planning the service, but she's acting as if Rose's death never even happened.
Emily: Why don't -- why don't we help you look for her?
Carly: Yeah, I'll be happy to check the church.
Emily: And I'll call Rose's dad. Maybe she went to find him.
Holden: I'm going to go to the Lakeview. She and Rose used to go there a lot. It's worth a shot.
Carly: And then we'll all meet back at the Roller Palace.
Emily: Oh, great idea. Okay.
Carly: Holden, I'm sure she's okay.
Emily: Now, listen, Carly's right. You know, I'm sure Lily just probably needs to find her own way to mourn Rose.
Holden: I hope you're right.
Emily: We've got to go. Carly: Yeah.
Craig: How are the newlyweds today?
Alison: If you don't mind, we were in the middle of something.
Craig: Yeah, no kidding. Look at this. Listen, I wanted to send you two a wedding gift, but I wasn't sure where to send it. Should I -- send it in care of the soon-to-be lucky grandparents?
Aaron: Alison and I don't need a gift, thank you. Plus, we won't be living with our parents.
Alison: We won't?
Craig: Listen, listen, enjoy your lunch. I'll make sure it gets to the right place, okay? So take care, you two. I mean, three.
Alison: He's such a jerk.
Aaron: Yeah, but it makes you think, though, Ali. How are we supposed to have a family when we're still living like kids ourselves?
Alison: Where are you going?
Aaron: To get the paper. The sooner we start looking, the sooner we'll have our own place.
Rosanna: The truth is, Alison and Aaron may not be forever either.
Lucy: But there's a baby coming. I don't want to cause problems.
Rosanna: Do you love him?
Lucy: Paul loved Rose. Look how that turned out.
Rosanna: Oh, you cannot compare the two situations.
Lucy: Why not? Paul lost faith in Rose and I lost faith in Aaron.
Rosanna: Rose is gone. And maybe that's the real lesson here. Life is short and very precious. And love, if you are lucky enough to find it, you have to fight for it. And that's what Paul did not do. He didn't trust his heart. And now he can't fix it. But I know one thing -- he would move heaven and earth if Rose was still alive to make it up to her.
Paul: Carly? Emily --
Lily: Oh, what's the matter, Paulie? Can't believe your own eyes? You feel like you're seeing a ghost?
Paul: Oh, Rose.
Dusty: Well, you've been a busy little girl, haven't you? Anything you want to say to my face that you haven't said behind my back already?
Lily: Did I hurt you, Paul?
Paul: Lily? You're crazy.
Paul: Why are you doing this, Lily? Don't do this.
Lily: Do what? Pretend to be Rose? Act the way she would if she were here today? If she were alive?
Paul: What do I gotta do? What do I gotta do to make you believe that I didn't kill her?
Lily: You did kill her. You killed her twice. The first time you did it, you shamed her in front of her friends and her family.
Paul: I loved her.
Lily: Oh, my God, don't stand there and say that you loved her. Please.
Paul: I love her, Lily. I always will.
Lily: How long did you plan it? The champagne, the special glass, just the right amount of poison.
Paul: There was no plan.
Lily: You knew that I would take your side against Dusty. You used me, and now we both have Rose's blood on our hands.
Paul: I swear to you that I will find who did this.
Lily: Oh, you just have to look at yourself in the mirror. I pushed my sister into the arms of a monster. And now she's gone. Oh, you want to kill me too because I remind you so much of Rose?
Paul: Lily --
Lily: Just get out of here! I want you to get out of here and never come back! Don't you ever come back here and mourn her and pretend that you care about her now that she --
Holden: What is going on? What are you doing here?
Carly: It's our fault. We asked Paul to meet us here.
Holden: Lily. Honey, are you okay?
Paul: Holden, you've got to understand --
Holden: Get out of here. Honey, come on, I'm gonna take you home.
[Lily sobbing]
Emily: I'll lock up.
Carly: Poor Lily. Did you see what she was wearing?
Emily: It was like looking at Rose.
Carly: It breaks my heart.
Emily: Oh, Carly, I wish there was something we could do.
Carly: There is. We can catch a killer. And maybe that will give Lily some peace.
Emily: Okay. Where do we start?
Carly: You take the office. I'll start out here.
Emily: You've got it.
Aaron: I know. I can't stop looking at it myself. Anyway, got a lead on an apartment here. Check it, check it, check it. Two bedroom, dishwasher, air conditioning.
Alison: Where?
Aaron: Oakdale Court.
Alison: Aaron, we can't afford Oakdale Court.
Aaron: Why not? I've got some money saved up in the bank. I'll put overtime at Metro, pick up another job. Do you know I can make three times, triple, on Sundays?
Alison: Aaron, I don't want you doing all this for me.
Aaron: Alison, I'm doing it for us. It makes me feel like I'm worth something. Being there for you, our baby --
Alison: Look, Aaron, I can't let you. It's not fair.
Molly: I'm flattered, Jack. A police escort.
Jack: Have a seat, Molly. I'll try to find Hal for you.
Molly: So where's Dusty? Has he been arrested yet?
Hal: Not yet.
Molly: Hal, can we do this someplace else, like, say, the Lakeview?
Hal: Sorry. Sorry, Molly, it's not a social event.
Jack: Hal, you got a sec?
Hal: Yeah, sure. I'll be right back. What's up?
Jack: I just came from seeing Craig. He claims he met with James Stenbeck.
Hal: He what?
Jack: And he says he walked away with a confession -- sort of.
Hal: What kind of confession?
Jack: James said that Paul came to the prison the day of the wedding. And according to Craig, whatever went down at that visit convinced the old man that Paul killed Rose.
Hal: Oh, man, the last thing we need is Craig Montgomery in the middle of this mess.
Jack: Yeah, that's what I thought. And then he gave me this.
Hal: Where'd he get this?
Jack: He wouldn't say.
Hal: Does anybody else know about it?
Jack: Not that I know of.
Hal: All right, check the prison log. Find out if Paul Ryan was there the day of the murder. Check Montgomery’s visit, too. Then call the florist, then get this down to the lab, although I doubt we'll be able to pull anything off it now.
Jack: What about -- what about Molly?
Hal: I'll handle Molly. Well, thank you for coming down.
Molly: Did I have a choice?
Hal: Mind if we move to the interrogation room?
Molly: It's your party, Hal.
Dusty: Well, you've been a busy little girl, haven't you? Anything you want to say to my face that you haven't said behind my back already?
Aaron: Alison, you're not making me do anything. This baby changes everything for the both of us. Come on, I mean, at least take a look at a place.
Alison: No, I can’t. Oh!
Aaron: It's okay. It's okay.
Alison: No. No, you've done too much for me. I'm sorry, Aaron. I'm just --
Aaron: It's okay.
Alison: I'm sorry! No. No, I just really -- I'm such a mess. I can't handle it. I just -- after the sonogram and my mom freaking out and Chris freaking out, I just feel like there's -- everything is just happening at once.
Aaron: Okay. Look, we don't have to -- we don't have to find a place in the next five minutes. Relax, we'll take our time. We'll take our time.
Alison: No, no, I can’t. I'm due back at the hospital. I really can't afford to lose my job right now.
[Alison crying] I'll call you.
Aaron: Ali --
Lucy: Aaron -- I wanted to wait until Alison left. We need to talk.
Carly: This is the last box from the storage room. If the books aren't in here, I give up.
Emily: You know, I'm thinking maybe she gave them to an accountant or a lawyer or something. I'm gonna make some calls.
Carly: That's a good idea. Try Lucinda first. Emily, that's it.
Emily: What's it?
Carly: The perfume -- the perfume that we smelled at Rose's place on the day of the murder. I knew it. It was Mitzi's.
Emily: Wait a minute. Here, let me smell it.
Carly: Smell this. That's it.
Emily: Oh, my God, you're right. That's it. But our noses aren't proof of anything, Carly.
Carly: Okay. Then we get proof. First we find those ledgers, then we place Mitzi back in Oakdale on the day of the murder.
Emily: I really think we need to call Jack and Hal.
Carly: For what? To have them tell us to keep our noises out of it? No. We will call Jack and Hal when we have Mitzi Matters all tied up in a nice, neat bow, ready for booking.
Jack: Damn it, all I want is a name. Who sent Paul Ryan flowers? Don't make me come down there with a court order. Stenbeck? You're sure? Okay, do you mind telling me how a man serving life in prison paid for those flowers? A credit card? No kidding. Whose name was on it? You know what? Never mind. Never mind. I'll get to the bottom of it myself.
Molly: Why am I here?
Hal: Dusty thinks he's been set up.
Molly: Any suspects?
Dusty: Yeah, one or two.
Hal: Dusty says that you were at his place yesterday, Molly.
Molly: Well, I've been at his place a lot of days. Nights, too.
[Dusty laughs]
Dusty: All your nonsense. All your nonsense about being there for me as a friend. You knew Hal was on his way down. You couldn't wait to watch it.
Molly: That is not true, Dusty. I've been angry at you, yes. But once I found out that Rose was dead and I knew how upset you would be, all bets were off.
Dusty: Stop acting, would you? Don't listen to her. And if you want to stick it to me, be original. Don't stick it to me like this!
Molly: If I wanted to stick it to you, I would have pulled my money out of Metro. Call me if you need bail, buddy. You see, Hal, Dusty’s very fond of my money. I've got the nightclub to prove it.
Hal: He hasn't been formally charged.
Dusty: You know what? I told Hal that it was definitely Paul who planted that vial at my place. But it was you, wasn't it, McKinnon?
Molly: Are you accusing me of something?
Dusty: You know I am, my friend. How could you do this? Huh?
Molly: I was the best one you had in this town. How'd you miss that? Am I free to go?
Hal: Just don't plan any trips.
Molly: I'll see you tomorrow at Rose's funeral. Oh, then again, maybe not, right?
Dusty: Rose's funeral's tomorrow?
Molly: That's what I hear.
Dusty: Hal, I gotta be there. I mean, you guys can put wires on me, whatever, but I gotta be there.
Hal: Just take it easy.
Dusty: You can't hold me here, all right?
Hal: Take it easy.
Dusty: I know my rights. You -- hated Rose. You wanna tell Hal how many times you told me you wished she was dead? Huh? Why don't you tell Hal right now that you were at my place yesterday alone, uninvited? Is that when you planted the vial?!
Molly: Dusty, come on, I came after you were home.
Dusty: Not true!
Molly: Yes, it's true, Hal. I never entered his place without him there. I was never there alone.
Dusty: Tell the truth. Why don't you tell the truth?
Molly: Which truth, Dusty? The one about how rose was a dead issue in your life? Or about how you and I were such a great team? You know, poor guy, he's told so many lies, he can't keep it straight. Now, if I'm done here, I still have a club to run.
Dusty: You know I'm innocent.
Molly: Oh, you're a lot of things, Dusty. But innocent? I don't think so.
Dusty: Hey, Molly!
Hal: Cool off. Don't do anything stupid.
Molly: Well, that was fun.
Hal: It was enlightening.
Molly: Really?
Hal: To this cop's eyes.
Molly: Why did you tell him about me, Hal?
Hal: I'm just after the truth, Molly.
Molly: Aren't we all?
[Rosanna laughs]
Rosanna: That's illegal this time of year without mistletoe.
Craig: I know, I know. I know, I know.
Rosanna: You're in a good mood.
Craig: It's the holidays. I am loving it.
Rosanna: I wish it were contagious.
Craig: What? What are you talking about? Santa only wishes he has elves like you. Ho, ho, ho.
Rosanna: I was talking about Lucy.
Craig: Yeah, where is she?
Rosanna: I think she's upstairs in her room again.
Craig: Yeah? I didn't see her car.
Rosanna: Well, maybe she went for a ride. She's very upset about this thing with Rose. It just killed her.
Craig: Oh, well, you know, I should remind her how lucky she is to be rid of him.
Rosanna: Oh, that's nice. Can you at least try to be a little compassionate? This is very painful for her.
Craig: Well, we will help her cope. We will not allow her to wallow in self-pity. The new Mr. And Mrs. Aaron have moved on. Here today, a new tomorrow. And now that she is finally free, she can do the same. Right?
Fa, la, la, la, la la, la, la, la
fa, la, la, la, la Lucy! Come on!
Lucy: I wanted to apologize. I shouldn't have followed you to Indiana.
Aaron: No. No, don't apologize. Luce, I just -- I wanted --
Lucy: What?
Aaron: I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for telling me about Rose.
Lucy: Yeah. The -- the funeral's tomorrow.
Aaron: Yeah, I know. Holden told me. Luce, I -- I'd give the world not to see you this sad.
Lucy: Rosanna thinks that -- with Rose dying that we should learn something from all of this. We shouldn't waste a second of our --
[Cell phone rings]
Aaron: No, keep going. Forget it. Go, go.
Lucy: You should get that.
Aaron: It's Alison. It could be important. Hold on a second. Hello?
Alison: Hi. I just wanted to say I'm sorry I was all over the place at lunch.
Aaron: No, it's cool. Don't worry about it.
Alison: Well, I was thinking about the whole apartment thing.
Aaron: There's no pressure, okay?
Alison: No, you're right. I think it's a good idea.
Aaron: Are you sure?
Alison: Well, it beats living at home with our parents.
Aaron: Okay. Okay, cool. Well, do you want me to look at a couple of places or do you just want to do this together?
Alison: Well, it might be fun going together.
Aaron: Okay. Then I'll talk to you later, okay?. Bye. I'm sorry.
Lucy: You're busy. I understand that. I just -- I have to go.
Aaron: But we're not finished.
Lucy: Well, I -- I have some errands to run for my grandmother. She's been really busy with Rose's funeral. So -- I'll probably -- I'll see you there. Bye.
Chris: Alison? Alison, wait. Look, I'm sorry, okay? I never should have forced you to have that sonogram. All right? I should have believed you. I was just so sure that the baby was mine. It just made me crazy.
Alison: No, just forget it. No, forget it. It's okay.
Chris: I think seeing the sonogram and the baby finally knocked some sense into me.
Alison: It did?
Chris: Yeah. Yeah, and I know that this may be hard to believe, but I just want you to be happy.
Alison: Thanks. I mean, I want you to --
Chris: Alison, I know what you meant. Hey, I know you. All right, I remember how hard you fought for the truth when your mom was in danger. I mean, you -- you risked your life to save hers. That's who you are. And that person would never lie about her baby. You would want the real father to know from the minute that you got pregnant.
Jack: Yeah, this is Detective Jack Snyder with the Oakdale P.D. I need to see one of your inmates first thing tomorrow morning. James Stenbeck.
Dusty: Molly has her own agenda. It's got nothing to do with Rose's murder. The evidence that she planted in my apartment -- it's bogus.
Cop: The labs on the D'Angelo case are back, lieutenant.
Hal: Thank you. The methanol that was found in your apartment is not bogus. It matches the poison that killed Rose.
Dusty: Well, if Molly had access to that kind of poison, I'd say she's a dangerous woman.
Hal: Sit down.
Dusty: If you won't go after her, I will.
Hal: You're not going anywhere, buddy. Because as of right now, you've got more trouble than you can handle.
Molly: Listen -- you never saw me alone in Mr. Donovan's room yesterday. Do you understand? Good. And, oh, if the police come by asking questions, you tell them that I was never there until after Mr. Donovan got home. Now go back to work before somebody misses you. Here, go.
Lily: I don't want to go back to the house yet. I just want to stay here for a little longer.
Holden: Are you going to tell me why you're wearing Rose's things? Or am I not supposed to ask?
Lily: I was looking at her pictures. And I heard her voice on the answering machine. But it just wasn't enough.
Holden: Lily, you can't bring her back this way. Rose is gone.
Lily: Don't say that. Stop it.
Holden: Her funeral is tomorrow. I know you don't want to hear that. I know you don't want to say good-bye. Neither do I, but we have to.
Lily: No. No, I can’t. I can't do it.
Holden: Yes, you can.
Lily: No.
Holden: Lily, you lost Rose. Please -- please, I don't want to lose you, too.
Lily: I don't know who I am without her.
[Lily sobbing]
Holden: You are the woman that I fell in love with. You are the same woman you were all those years before we found Rose. And you're strong. And you're gonna get through this. We're all gonna get through this together. Will you please come home? I need you. Okay? The kids need you.
Lily: Okay, I'll be right there.
Holden: I'll wait. I'll wait until you change.
Lily: I promise, I will be right. I just -- I just need a little bit more time alone. I promise, a few minutes. Okay?
Holden: Okay.
Lily: I know they need me. I know that. But I need you, Rose. I just can't let go. No, I won’t. I won’t. I promise you.
Next week on "As The World Turns" --
Crater: There's opportunity here, Ms. McKinnon.
Molly: Oh, really?
Crater: I know what you did.
Joe: -- James Stenbeck. I warned her that she wasn't safe.
Paul: I didn't kill Rose.
Joe: And you're a lying murderer just like you're old man!
