Mr. Stauffer: Lucy, is there a problem?
Lucy: No, I -- I don't know.
Mr. Stauffer: Would you like me to see if I can find your escort?
Lucy: No. He just stepped out to make a phone call. He'll be right back.
Mr. Stauffer: I hope so. We're about to crown our homecoming queen.
Lucy: He'll be here. He'd never let me down.
[Cat meows]
Aaron: Stupid cat. Oh, this is nuts, man.
Waldo: Where you goin'?
Aaron: You're late.
Waldo: You got the bag?
Aaron: Yeah, right here. Look, I have to run. I have to be somewhere.
Waldo: Slow down. I've been watching the alley makin' sure the cops weren't on your tail.
Aaron: Just take the bag.
Waldo: I don't like to be rushed.
Aaron: I'm sorry, but there's somebody's waiting for me.
Waldo: The blonde I saw you with?
Aaron: No. She was just a friend.
Waldo: Here you go. Whoever you got waiting, treat her to a good time. Tell her it's on Waldo.
Aaron: Thanks a lot. Thank you.
[Police sirens]
Policeman: Freeze! You're under arrest.
Lily: Dusty, we have to talk.
Dusty: That's funny. I didn't think Holden let you out so late.
Lily: Oh, don't -- don't play games with me, okay? Holden thinks that you have Aaron involved in some illegal gambling.
Dusty: Really?
Lily: Is it true?
Dusty: Well, if Holden says it's true, who am I to argue?
Lily: This is Aaron's future we're talking about here. I just want to know. Are you turning Aaron into a crook or not?
Paul: Take that one.
Rose: Oh, okay. Mm, champagne. The best -- the second best part.
Paul: I should hope so. Here's to the other good parts.
Rose: I'll drink to that.
Paul: Oh, right. You were -- you were about to start your battlefield pep talk about how the D'Angelos always stay and fight.
Rose: Oh, yes, yes. My Uncle Sal, he once punched a guy because he gave him the hairy eyeball.
Paul: Really?
Rose: Mm-hmm.
Paul: Maybe we should introduce your Uncle Sal to my hairy mother. You got Uncle Sal's phone number?
Rose: We don't need it.
Paul: No?
Rose: Hmm-mm.
Paul: Those photos that Barbara dropped off -- they didn't -- they didn't get under your skin?
Rose: Maybe a little. But I realized something. You get under my skin, too. So forget the battlefield speech. Those pictures -- we shred 'em and forget 'em.
Paul: Really?
Rose: Mm-hmm.
Paul: Who are you, and what did you do with Rose? 'Cause I don't think we've met.
Rose: You need a reminder?
Paul: Yeah.
Rose: But, I gotta be honest with you and tell you that maybe just a little bitty part of me wanted to turn your mother into sausage and serve her on the streets of Paris.
Paul: See? Now, that's the Rose I know.
Rose: Paris. We're really doin' it?
Paul: You know we're doing it. Here's to the Atlantic moat.
Rose: Here's to putting an ocean between your old lady and our marriage.
Paul: I think we're -- we're over her. I don't think Barbara can bother us. I mean, this proves it. These pictures -- they prove it. I mean, a year ago, we'd be killing each other, right? You would have stormed out by now.
Rose: The only thing I'm stormin' tonight is you.
[Doorbell rings]
Rose: If that is your mother, I'm calling Uncle Sal.
Paul: If that is my mother, I -- yeah, I can't think of anything to say right now.
Will: Paul, don't be mad. I had to come.
Paul: Whoa. No, it's fine. Are you all right? Does your mother know where you are?
Will: Mom, she fell asleep on the couch. Listen, she said you were mad at me, and that's why you ditched me at the ball game and that's why you didn't call. Please,
Paul, what did I do?
Paul: Did she tell you that I was mad at you?
Will: 'Cause whatever I did, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, Paul.
Annabelle: I'm a fair person. So I'm giving you fair warning.
Craig: A warning about what?
Annabelle: That Molly person -- she knows how you got your child, and she's going to tell your wife.
Craig: And what is Molly going to tell Rosanna?
Annabelle: That's your problem.
Craig: Where are you?
Annabelle: I'm gone. And I'm staying gone. Your friend Molly is onto you. And now your wife will be onto you, too. Nice lady. Too bad she got stuck with the likes of you.
Craig: Miss Fettle -- Miss Fettle, what is Molly go -- Miss Fettle.
Molly: I didn't know you were gonna bring the baby with you.
Rosanna: I don't have a lot of time. Cabot is due to go down for the night, so I would appreciate it if you would just tell me whatever it is that you have to tell me that you think is so important. What? What is it?
Molly: Nothing.
[Cabot screams]
Molly: I'm fine, Rosanna. It's just that I don't know how to say this. Okay? But it is important. It involves the baby you're holding right now, and you're not going to like it. But I think you need to know the truth about him.
Mr. Stauffer: All right, ladies and gentlemen. This is the moment you've all been waiting for. The votes are in, and Oakdale Latin is about to crown its Homecoming Queen. My I have a drumroll, please? Our homecoming queen for the year 2003 is -- Lucy Montgomery!
[Applause]
Mr. Stauffer: Congratulations, Lucy! And now it's time for the queen and her court to have the ceremonial first dance.
Madison: Don't you dare.
Lucy: Here. You can have them.
Mr. Stauffer: Lucy?
Lucy: I'm sorry. I have to go. There's an emergency at home. I'm sorry.
Aaron: Jack, I didn't do anything.
Jack: How do you know this jerk, Aaron?
Aaron: He's just some guy.
Jack: Just some guy? Do yourself a favor. Don't say a word, okay?
Aaron: It's a mistake -- I swear!
Jack: Not one word!
Hal: You have the right to an attorney.
Waldo: Yeah, yeah. I heard it already.
Hal: Yeah, well, you're gonna hear the rest of it on the way to the station.
Waldo: Be smart, kid. You hear me?
Jack: Get this loser out of here. Get him out of here, Hal.
Hal: Let's go.
Aaron: Jack, I got to call Lucy. It's important. Please.
Jack: Don't you understand what's happening here?
Aaron: I ran out on her at her homecoming dance.
Jack: She'll understand that you're not coming!
Aaron: Jack, please, man!
Jack: You get one phone call --
Aaron: Help me reach my cell phone --
Jack: At the station.
Aaron: That's gonna take too long.
Jack: When we get there, you call your dad. Okay? Maybe he can get a lawyer there tonight.
Aaron: I don't need a lawyer. I got to talk to my girlfriend, man.
Jack: This is not an exercise! Do you understand that? It's an arrest. You have the right to remain silent. If you give up that right, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.
Dusty: Don't worry about Aaron so much. He's a great kid. That's why I like havin' him work for me.
Lily: Doing what?
Dusty: Doing what? Bussing tables, tending bar, picking up supplies, you know.
Lily: Holden thinks you have Aaron doing your dirty work.
Dusty: Dirty work?
Lily: Yes. Illegal bookmaking.
Dusty: Holden's been watching too many movies. And if he's so worried about his
kids, what are you doing down here with me?
Lily: It's called caring. Putting the person you love first, making their life easier. When was the last time you did that, Dusty?
Dusty: I don't know, Lil. Does your sister count?
Lily: You're kidding, right? Were you faithful to Rose?
Dusty: In my own way, yeah.
Lily: Oh, that's pathetic.
Dusty: What's your problem, huh? I'm not even involved with your sister anymore. What's your problem?
Lily: Because how many people -- how many people had to get hurt in the meantime? You got Paul -- you betrayed him. Rose almost got killed. Now she's leaving town away from her family. Ever since you stepped foot in this town, you have been pushing her away from everyone that cares about her.
Dusty: Pushing her away?
Lily: Yes.
Dusty: The guy who bankrolled her beauty shop? The guy who opened up this club so we could have a future together? I pushed her away. You don't hate me. You hate the fact that you're finally getting what you want -- Paul and Rose together again. And it scares you to death.
Rosanna: Molly, if you have something to tell me about my son, just do it.
Molly: Is that an order?
Rosanna: No. Look, I'm tired. Cabot's tired. My whole world has become about feeding and bonding and diaper rash and I'm just a little overwhelmed.
Molly: I remember.
Rosanna: Look, I am trying to be patient here, but you're scaring me. Is there something that you know about this adoption that could hurt it?
Molly: Hurt it?
Rosanna: Yes, because I feel this is my son. Ever since I saw him, I knew that I was his mother. So if there's --
Molly: Craig, perfect timing.
Craig: Hey. Hi. Hi.
Rosanna: I thought you were staying at home.
Craig: Well, I got a cryptic note and realized my family had abandoned me.
Molly: So naturally you came looking for a baby in a nightclub.
Craig: It is late, you know. Cabot should be home.
Rosanna: Yes, I know. Molly said that she had something to tell me about the adoption.
Molly: Yeah, Craig. Have a seat. You might find this interesting, as well.
Rosanna: Do you know what she's talking about?
Craig: Yeah, no, I haven't a clue.
Rosanna: Oh. Shh, baby. Don't fuss now. Come on. Shh.
Molly: Rosanna -- this baby --
[Cabot coos]
Molly: This baby is the most precious gift you will ever been given. So you fight for him. Don't second guess yourself.
Craig: Have you been drinking, Mol?
Molly: No, Craig. It's even more pathetic than that. I am stone cold sober. Go home, Rosanna. I'm sorry for the big build-up.
Rosanna: Molly, why did you call me over here?
Molly: Why not? You ticked me off pretty good at the hospital. So why wouldn't I want to yank your chain a little? Right? Get this little guy home where he belongs.
Rosanna: Look, you said that you knew something, that you knew the truth, and that I wasn't gonna like it. So could we stop playing games? What do you really want to tell me about my son?
Paul: Will, look at me. I am not mad, nor have I -- no, it's true. I don't remember ever being mad at you.
Will: Really?
Paul: Really. It's mother. Will, let's be honest. Is she always right?
Will: No.
Paul: No. This is all my fault. I should have -- I should have called you the minute I got back.
Will: It's okay.
Paul: No, it's not okay. And you -- you should feel free to yell at me.
Will: What?
Paul: Yeah, you should yell at me about how mad you are that I ditched you, and that I went to Paris. If you want to, you can even hit me.
Will: But then you'd never want to see me again.
Paul: No, it's not like that. Look, I just think you should get it all out. It'll be over. You'll feel better. I would feel better. And then we can just kinda forgive each other and move on.
Rose: You know, in my family, if you're not yelling at each other, then they think you're mad at them.
Paul: Speaking of mad, if Barbara figures out you're missing, she's gonna call the national guard.
Rose: Or the S.W.A.T. team. And they're so loud. And it's so late. Why don't we call Barbara? And Will can sleep over.
Will: Can I?
Paul: Absolutely. I'll go ask her myself. That way she can't say no. I'll be back as soon as I can.
Will: Thanks, Paul.
Paul: Yeah. Maybe when I'm gone, you could look after my girl?
Will: I will.
Paul: All right.
Rose: All right. Since your bedtime's been shot straight to -- why don't we watch a movie? What do you think? Action, adventure, comedy? What do you want to see?
Will: Action.
Rose: Action, my choice, too.
Will: Rose? Do you ever get confused about who to believe?
Rose: Oh, all the time. But it always works out. It does. Promise. Come on. Raid your brother's DVDs. Make sure it's PG.
[Doorbell rings]
Rose: This is gonna be fun. Maybe I'll make some popcorn, and we can have --
Barbara: Where's Will? Oh, honey, you scared me to death. I didn't know where you were. I thought maybe your dad would know. But then I realized maybe I did know where you were, after all.
Will: Mom --
Barbara: No, no, no. It's okay. You don't have to explain. Were you behind this?
Will: Mom, no.
Barbara: You steal my son in the middle of the night. You don't call me and let me know that he's all right? I swear to you, lady, I will have you locked up for kidnapping.
Rose: Nobody stole will.
Will: Mom, I caught a bus outside the Lakeview.
Barbara: A bus? Alone, at this hour?
Rose: Tells you something, doesn't it?
Barbara: You know, you stay out of this.
Rose: He's fine.
Barbara: Where is Paul?
Rose: He's perfectly safe. He's on his way to see you.
Barbara: Hey, if you wanted to see your brother, why didn't you tell me?
Rose: Because somebody filled his head with the idea that Paul was mad at him. I wonder who that could've been.
Barbara: Okay, we're leaving. We're leaving. We're gonna go.
Rose: Oh, you're leaving? Oh, wait, before you go -- I have something for you.
Don't leave without these.
Barbara: Oh, my. What are these, Rose?
Rose: Oh, take a look. The photographer has an eye for detail. Did you hire him? Or did you take 'em yourself?
Barbara: I have never seen these before. And I don't appreciate what you are insinuating.
Rose: What I'm insinuating is that you tell your shutterbug to back off.
Will: What are they pictures of?
Barbara: Why don't you show them to him, Rose? Tell him who you're with and what you're doing.
Rose: All right. I'll explain. Will, first rule in life -- don't lie and cheat to get what you want.
Will: Mom, did you take those pictures?
Barbara: No, of course I didn't, honey.
Rose: Ask your mom how she really feels about me marrying your brother. And how far she will go to throw a wrench into things. And why he has to move out of the country to get away from her.
Will: So you're really moving to Paris? But Jen said it wasn't true.
Rose: Um -- Will, I'm so sorry. It didn't -- it wasn't come out that way. Paul was gonna tell you himself. He was gonna sit you down. He was gonna talk to you.
Barbara: Well, why don't you explain it to him, Rose? You tell him why you're taking his big brother away from him.
Rose: I am not -- I am -- honey, I am not taking your brother away from you. I would never do that. I promise. I swear.
Will: Then why are you moving?
Rose: It's your turn, Barbara.
Will: Mom, what did you do to make Paul want to leave again?
Molly: You got to me, Rosanna. What can I say? You know, I was in a funk already about you and Carly behaving like the Olsen twins, and then you came up with that crack about how I drive everybody out of life.
Rosanna: Well, I'm sorry. That was unkind. I didn't mean it.
Molly: Yeah, well, I've said things that I don't mean either. But what I said tonight, I meant. He is the most precious gift you will ever be given. So take him home, love him.
[Cell phone rings]
Craig: That's strange. It's the house.
Craig: Hello?
Lucy: Hi, Daddy.
Craig: Sweetness, what are you doing home so --
Lucy: The dance was awful. Aaron left and never came back. And I've been calling him on his cell phone, and he's not picking up, and --
Craig: Hey, hey, hey, hey. Slow down. You said Aaron came to the dance and then left?
Lucy: He said he had to make a phone call and that he'd be right back, but then he never showed up. I don't know what to do. I'm really worried about him. Could you -- could you please just come home?
Craig: I'm on my way, lullaby. All right, I love you.
Craig: It's -- it's Lucy. Something happened with Aaron.
Rosanna: Oh, no. Did they have a fight?
Craig: I hope so. Can you and Cabot get home all right?
Rosanna: Yes, we'll be fine.
Craig: All right, okay. All right, I'll see you later.
Rosanna: Okay.
Craig: Bye. Molly.
Rosanna: Bye.
Molly: You know, they can say what they want to about Craig, but when it comes to his kids --
Rosanna: Yeah. He'll do anything for them.
Molly: Funny, that's what I was kind of trying to get at earlier.
Rosanna: You know, Molly, I'm really sorry if I came between you and Carly.
Molly: No, it's not you. It's not anything. Three's a crowd.
Rosanna: It doesn't have to be, necessarily. I mean, if Carly and I can get along -- you know, I -- I don't want to hold a grudge. I don't have time, with the baby. I just want Cabot to be happy. And it's not like we're a really huge clan, you know? With the children, there's just Parker and Sage and Cabot. But the next generation --
Molly: Oh, no, no, no. No, I don't think that I should hold --
Rosanna: Come on now. Cabot, this is your cousin, Molly. Yes. She's very stubborn, stubborn as an ox, strong willed and determined, lovely woman. You're going to like her, I think.
Molly: How's it been, little guy?
[Baby fussing]
Molly: Hey, hey. Hey. Hey. Oh, Rosanna, he's beautiful. Yeah.
Lily: Thank you.
Dusty: Did you see the shop?
Lily: I saw the "For Sale" sign on the door when I passed it.
Dusty: Did she even tell you before she put it on the market?
Lily: We would've argued about it.
Dusty: I don't want her selling out her dreams, you know? It's not right. Paul's been feeding her a pack of lies. And deep down, I think you know what I know -- that he's just waitin' for the perfect time to break her heart.
Jack: Let me know when you guys are done.
Aaron: You said I could use the phone.
Jack: Do me a favor, will ya? Listen to the man.
Aaron: Fine. Give it to me. Let's get this over with.
Holden: I don't know what to say, Aaron.
Aaron: Then let me use your phone.
Holden: Forget about the phone, would you?
Aaron: I have to call Lucy.
Holden: You're worried about Lucy?
Aaron: Holden, I never got back to the dance tonight.
Holden: Man, that is the least of your problems. Can you afford this kind of trouble, Aaron? Do you have money for a lawyer? How are you gonna get out of this mess you're in?
Aaron: I have some money.
Holden: Not enough, trust me. And if you're waitin' around for Dusty to come bail you out, you can forget it. He's not gonna do it. Help me to understand how this all happened. How did this job with Dusty become more important than your family and your good sense?
Aaron: It didn't.
Holden: And what about your brother, Luke? What am I gonna tell him, the kid who idolizes you, that you're in jail?
Aaron: I'll talk to Luke. Please, Holden --
Holden: Do you know what jail is? Jail is losing your rights. The right to see your family and your friends when you want to, the right to call your girlfriend on a cell phone when you want to.
Aaron: Look, you can lecture me from now until next week. Okay? But I'm not gonna listen to one more word you say till you let me call my girlfriend!
Craig: Did we run out of kindling? Oh, Lullaby, come here. What is it? Oh, hey, hey --
Lucy: It was so humiliating.
Craig: Hey, what? What?
Lucy: I got named Homecoming Queen, and all the couples were dancing, and
Aaron was gone.
Craig: Gone where?
Lucy: I don't know.
[Cell phone rings]
Craig: Huh? No, leave that, leave that.
Lucy: It might be Aaron.
Lucy: Hello?
Aaron: Lucy, it's me.
Lucy: Where are you?
Aaron: Look, it's a long story. Look, I am so sorry about tonight. I tried to get back to that dance, but I couldn't. I've been wanting to call you for like an hour now.
Lucy: Why didn't you?
Aaron: 'Cause they wouldn't let me.
Lucy: Who wouldn't let you? Aaron, where are you? Were you in an accident?
Aaron: No. Look, I was arrested.
Lucy: Arrested? For what?
Craig: He was arrested?
Lucy: What did you do?
Aaron: Nothing, I swear. Look, the charge is -- Jack says it's bookmaking. Luce? Hello? Hello? Are you there?
Craig: Sweetness, why was Aaron arrested?
Lucy: For bookmaking. Isn't that like betting on horses?
Craig: Well, no, it's -- it's illegal gambling on anything.
Lucy: But Aaron doesn't gamble.
Craig: Well, maybe he's gotten himself mixed up with some people who do.
Lucy: This doesn't make sense.
Craig: No, of course it doesn't make sense. What was he thinking? Huh?
Lucy: I'm going to the police station.
Craig: No, no, no, no, no. Hey, hey, hey. No, no, no. No, no, no, no. You're gonna let Aaron's family take care of Aaron.
Lucy: No! I am going. He needs me!
Craig: Wait. All right, all right, all right. I'll drive you. We'll see him. Come on. Let's go. Come on.
Holden: Did you expect a thank you for ditching her at the dance so you could be Dusty's bagman?
Aaron: No.
Holden: Wake up, Aaron. You blew it. And for what? Money? A chance to be a high-priced gopher?
Aaron: Lucy's going off to college real soon. Okay? From there, she'll have a job. She'll have money. She'll have respect. I have to think about that, too, Holden. I'm just trying to make it on my own here.
Holden: This isn't making it.
Aaron: Maybe we just lost the reception.
Holden: Actions have consequences, Aaron. What you did may have cost you Lucy.
Aaron: Don't say that!
Holden: Is losing her worth the money? Is hurting your family worth the money,
Aaron? I want to know.
Aaron: No, it's not, all right?
Holden: Then you prove it. You tell jack everything you know about Dusty and his operation. If you don't, you are on your own. And if they throw the book at you, I will not lift a finger to help you out. Think about it.
Dusty: Thanks to Paul, she's ditching the shop. Not only that, she's ditching you. What are you gonna do? Sit back and let it happen?
Lily: I'm not sure there's anything I can do about it.
Dusty: Do you even know where the wedding is? Are you gonna be there? Huh? We're talking about your twin sister that you know so well. Because of this loser, she's leaving her family and her whole independent life behind.
Lily: Paul Ryan is the best thing that ever happened to Rose.
Dusty: Who you trying to convince -- me? Or you?
Barbara: Honey, would you wait for me downstairs, please?
Rose: You know, maybe -- Will deserves to hear the truth. These are pictures of me saying good-bye to Dusty. Your mom hired a photographer to take them to show them to Paul. So Paul would think I was doing something bad. But I wasn't doing anything bad. I was just saying good-bye to Dusty. She wanted to hurt your brother. Both of us.
Barbara: That is not the truth. Those pictures are the truth.
Will: So you did do it?
Barbara: We will talk about this when we get home.
Rose: No, we're gonna talk about it now so I can translate to him.
Barbara: I'll tell you something. I will not apologize for wanting to protect my children, no matter how old they are. I am Paul's mother. And nothing will change that -- not time, not geography and certainly not the likes of you. And I will not stop until he sees --
Paul: What the hell is going on here?
Molly: You know, this is a little civilized for us.
Rosanna: He seems very content with you.
Molly: Yeah. Kids and dogs, what can I tell you?
[Baby laughing]
Rosanna: Yeah. Yeah, I remember, you know, the first day I had him. Carly -- I had to call her to come over because I was so terrified, I didn't know what I was doing.
Molly: Yeah, well, I hate to tell you, but these are the easy days.
Rosanna: I almost called that Annabelle Fettle woman and asked her to find a mother that knew how to take care of a child.
Molly: You know, it's getting late, and I've got a lot a things I need to do around here, Rosanna.
Rosanna: Oh.
Molly: I'm sorry if I wasted your time tonight, okay?
Rosanna: It's not time wasted.
Molly: Here he is.
Rosanna: Oh, thank you.
Molly: Thank you for letting me hold him.
Rosanna: Always.
Molly: It was a joy.
Rosanna: Consider it an open invitation, okay?
Molly: Yeah, we'll see about that.
Rosanna: Listen, do you think we could try, if not to be friends, to be pleasant with one another?
Molly: Ooh, I don't know. It's never been done. You, me and Carly all getting along? It kind of disrupts the natural order.
Rosanna: Yes. Well, you know, I'm willing to risk the natural order, if you are. So I'll be in touch. Good night, Molly.
Molly: Good night.
Dusty: Paul Ryan's a cross between Barbara Ryan and James Stenbeck. You don't have to put the DNA under a microscope to see where this thing's going.
Lily: Okay, we're never going to agree about Paul, obviously.
Dusty: You don't have to agree, just don't put your head in the sand, all right?
Lily: If I push her about anything, I could lose Rose.
Dusty: Well, if you don't do anything, you're gonna lose her anyway. At least tell her that, you know, the guy's moving fast and tell her to slow down. And maybe you were wrong about the guy.
Lily: I -- no, I can't interfere.
Dusty: Huh?
Lily: I'm not gonna do it.
Dusty: It's a lot better than letting her get blindsided by a dangerous guy who she thinks she loves.
Lily: If you're right --
Dusty: I am right.
Lily: If you are right, then I will be there for her.
Dusty: When? After it's too late? This is serious stuff. Would you be able to carry something like that on your shoulders? I can't. No way. I'm not letting that guy hurt her. I don't care what I have to do.
[Cell phone rings]
Dusty: Donovan.
Jack: It's Jack Snyder. I need you to come down to the station.
Dusty: I'm busy right now.
Jack: Yeah, well, we pulled in Aaron Snyder and some guy named Waldo. Get down here now, or I'll send a car for you.
Dusty: I'll be right there.
Dusty: I got to go.
Lily: What's wrong?
Dusty: Aaron Snyder got busted.
Lily: What? What are you talking about, "busted"? You -- you are such a liar. You just stood here and told me that Aaron was one of your employees.
Dusty: Hey, hey, hey, don't get crazy, all right? It's not gonna stick.
Lily: "Not gonna stick"? Do you realize what you're doing here? You're ruining that boy's life!
Dusty: You're wasting my time.
Lily: Just like you ruin everything.
Dusty: I got to go to the station. You want to come?
Barbara: This woman has no regard for my son's feelings. That's what's going on.
Paul: That's enough! Will, are you all right? Are you okay?
Will: Why are you moving to France?
Rose: That was me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It just came out.
Will: Is it because of mom?
Paul: Will, it's complicated. There's a lot of reasons.
Will: But you said you weren't mad.
Paul: I'm not -- I'm not mad. I'm not mad at all, not at you.
Barbara: What else is he supposed to think? You're here. You're gone, empty promises, phantom brother.
Rose: He needs a phantom mother.
Paul: Will, come here. Come here. Listen, will, Rose and I, we're moving to France because that's where we want to live. But that doesn't mean we're not gonna come visit you. And you can come visit us. Anytime you want. You know what I'll do? I'll call the airlines and I'll set up an account, you know, with all the miles. And you want to see us, all you got to do, you pick up the phone, and you're there.
Will: But why can't you live here?
Paul: Will, when -- when two people love each other, they want to -- want to start a new life. They need a new home. Hey, I'll come by tomorrow, pick you up. We'll go to Al's, and we can talk more about it then, all right?
Will: You don't have to. Mom, I want to go home.
Barbara: Yeah. Yeah, honey, come on. I'll be downstairs in a minute, all right.
Will: I'll wait down there.
Paul: Tomorrow, Will, all right? I'll see you tomorrow. Will?
Barbara: Congratulations, Rose. I hope you're proud of yourself.
Paul: I hope you're proud of yourself. Why did you tell him that I was mad at him?
Barbara: After all the broken promises you made to him this year, what else could he think?
Paul: You're his mother. Did it even occur to you that you -- that you could help him, that you could get him to understand something, that -- I mean, why is it important to you that he takes sides?
Barbara: Wait a second. Before you get so bent out of shape about what I said to him, you better talk to her about her contribution.
Paul: Barbara -- shh, shh. Get out! Will you please go away?
Rose: You heard him, Barbara, get out.
Barbara: You know what I wish for you? I wish you my life. I wish you all the loneliness and the misery that I call my existence. I only pray that it comes at the hand of your own children one day. If I did hurt Will tonight, I had plenty of help. So you save a little anger for your retread bride.
Aaron: How does putting other people in trouble help me?
Holden: Those people used you.
Aaron: So I use them? Is that it?
Holden: They're crooks, Aaron. They make money off innocent people.
Aaron: Nobody makes them place a bet.
Holden: It's against the law, regardless.
Aaron: Look, I'm not bringing anybody down just to save my neck, okay?
Holden: Aaron, Dusty would sell you out in a second.
Aaron: You don't know that.
Holden: So you're what? You're partners? You're involved in the operation? You know what's going on? You know the people involved? Or did Dusty just put money under your nose and point you in the right direction? You're just a pawn, Aaron. That's all you are, admit it.
Aaron: You don't think much of me, do you?
Holden: At the moment, no, I don't. You want to change that opinion, then you get it through your thick skull that the only way out of this mess is to cooperate with the police. So what's it gonna be?
Paul: Every time I see you point your finger, mother, I hope that it falls off.
Barbara: She showed will those pictures, son.
Paul: Rose --
Rose: I wanted to be honest with will. I told him that your mom hired a photographer to follow me around.
Paul: It doesn't -- you know what? This is it. That's -- the happy hour's over, Barbara. It's time for you to go.
Barbara: How many times are you going to defend her?
Rose: Did you hear what he said? Look, we're gonna have to do this again sometime, maybe at your wake.
Barbara: She betrayed you once. She will do it again. You know that.
Paul: It's time for you to go.
Barbara: No, no, no. You know what?
Paul: Shut up. Get out.
Barbara: You're not gonna silence me. I will tell you something. I will not stop until she is out of our lives. All of our lives!
Paul: Why would you show him those pictures?
Rose: Because he wanted to know why we were moving away, and I thought this was a great way for him to understand what was going on.
Paul: What, visual aids?
Rose: Barbara, she's the one who put him in a psych ward. Not me.
Paul: Yeah, we shoot back. And will, he's caught in the middle of everything. It's collateral damage. Every day of this kid's life, he's dancing on the head of a pin. And I -- I swore to him that I wouldn't let anything bad happen to him, that I would never let anybody hurt him, and that includes you, Rose. So if you don't mind, would you please watch what you say in front of my brother? Are you clear on that?
Aaron: I won't talk.
Holden: This goes against everything that I am about. Stopping myself from helping one of my kids when they're in trouble.
Aaron: If you won't take care of me, then fine. I can take care of myself.
Holden: If you could take care of yourself, you wouldn't be in this mess to start with. You want to stand by Dusty, fine. Learn the hard way. I'm through.
Lucy: Aaron, what happened?
Aaron: Luce -- Luce, I can explain.
Lucy: Why you left me tonight? Why you didn't bother coming back or calling me? What's more important to you than us?
Holden: How serious can all of this get?
Jack: We know he's not the bookie. He's just the delivery boy. Chances are he can't even tell us this dude Waldo's last name. I don't think Tom's gonna want to come after him.
Craig: Must make a father proud.
Jack: Shut up, Craig.
Dusty: Where's Aaron?
Holden: You stay away from my son.
Jack: Holden --
Holden: What did you get him involved in?
Dusty: Aaron's fine.
Holden: He's up on charges.
Dusty: I'll take care of it.
Jack: How you gonna do that, Dusty?
Lily: Where's Aaron? Is he okay?
Jack: You want to tell me something?
Lily: Where is he?
Dusty: Relax, it's a misunderstanding.
Lily: A misunderstanding? This is your misunderstanding. You want to prove that you're not a lowlife? You want to redeem yourself? Why don't you tell Jack whatever scheme you've been running, so Aaron can go home tonight?
Next week on "As The World Turns" --
Jennifer: Think about Will, Rose.
Rose: Oh, shut up about Will. I don't care about Will. It's not about Will.
Jennifer: Look who's a monster now.
Aaron: Lucy left me. I don't know what I'm gonna do.
Dusty: Then it's a great thing I'm here, 'cause I know exactly what you're gonna do.
Katie: I swear I would never hurt you on purpose. Please believe that.
