Kendall: Zach?
Zach: Hey.
Kendall: You scared me. Where were you?
Zach's voice: Kendall is not gonna make it.
Zach: I had to take care of something.
Kendall: I don't like the sound of that.
Zach: I'm just doing what needs to be done.
Ryan: So does that include trying to ruin my life with Greenlee?
Cara: Hey, Griff, it's me. I'm just -- this is the tenth message that I've left you, and did you leave town without saying good-bye? You're not returning any of my calls, you're not returning any calls from the hospital, so I'm just kind of worried and wondering if you're ok. So call me.
David: Still no word from your brother?
Cara: No. Nothing. He just disappeared, no explanation.
David: It does seem strange that he would just vanish, considering he was so determined to testify against me with the FDA about Project Orpheus.
Cara: Yeah, he is kind of known for dropping off the face of the universe from time to time. But just walking away from his patients, not so much. So --
David: Are you ok?
Cara: Yeah, I'm good -- head rush. I'm gonna go see Kendall, and maybe she knows where he is.
David: Wait a minute. Listen, I don't have the plague, you know. You don't have to run away every time you see me.
Cara: I'm not running away from you. I'm really worried about my brother. Excuse me.
Dixie: Hi. Is Dr. Griffin Castillo around?
Nurse: He's not in today. His patients are being referred to Dr. Conway.
Dixie: Oh. I don't know Dr. Conway. I guess I'll just come back when Dr. Castillo returns. Thanks.
David: I'm available right now, and I'd be happy to take care of you.
Maya: Hold on. First you tell me you can't help me anymore, and then you randomly go off about Angie and Jesse. Did you find out anything about my baby or not?
Tad: I never should've taken your case.
Maya: Why not?
Tad: Because it was a mistake.
Maya: I don't understand. You're Angie's friend. You're a detective. Isn't that what you do? Angie said that you would be more than happy to help me find my little girl.
Tad: I'm sorry. I've said all I'm gonna say.
Angie: Listen, I knew you wouldn't be thrilled to hear the choice that Maya made.
Jesse: Baby, I have something I need to -- tell you. You know I love you more than anything in the world. You know that, right?
Angie: Of course, I do.
Jesse: And everything that I have done for you has been out of that love. Everything.
Angie: Jesse, you're scaring me. What's going on? What's wrong? Baby, talk to me. It can't be that bad. Why are you so upset?
Jesse: Because I should've told you this a long time ago, but I couldn't because I didn't want to hurt you.
Angie: Jesse, please. Whatever it is, just say it.
Jesse: Our little girl -- we lost her. Our baby -- she died.
Angie: What?
David: There's an empty exam room right over there.
Dixie: That's for doctors who have actual licenses.
David: Nobody knows your medical history better than I do, Dixie, and that's simply because I've saved your life several times.
Dixie: Yes. You've also tried to ruin it several times.
David: Are you really that angry that you've forgotten that I'm the reason why you're even here?
Dixie: I don't even know what you did to me all those years.
David: Fine. Let me enlighten you. I got your heart and your kidneys strong again, not just working. Tell me you don't feel healthier than ever before? And you look amazing.
Dixie: Oh, please. Don't you start.
David: There was a time when you trusted me completely.
Dixie: That time, I was a fool.
David: I'm not gonna argue with you there -- for not having the courage to give in to your real feelings for me.
Dixie: I don't feel anything for you but disgust.
David: Dixie, that is really sad, considering how close we used to be. You used to be grateful for my companionship, my care.
Dixie: You just love to blow your own horn, don't you?
David: I am simply reminding you of all the times that I've gone above and beyond for you. You do remember the Caribbean, right, when your heart condition nearly killed you? If it wasn't for my experimental treatment --
Dixie: I am not your guinea pig anymore.
David: You were never my guinea pig. You're my patient. So why don't you tell me what brings you in, so I can take care of you? If it's a delicate matter, of course, it can remain between us.
Dixie: I'm sorry. What?
David: Anything discussed will remain strictly confidential. Neither Tad nor anyone else has to know.
Dixie: Wow. You know --
David: Why are you looking like that? You used to confide in me in ways that you couldn't with anyone else, including that dimwit Martin.
Dixie: Let's just get one thing straight, ok? You mean nothing to me. Nothing.
David: You can hate me as much as you want, but if you need medical treatment, I am the only one who can help you.
Dixie: You do know my medical history better than anyone.
David: That's all I've been trying to say.
Dixie: All right. Why don't we just do a quick exam?
Kendall: "Ruin your life with Greenlee"? What is that supposed to mean?
Ryan: Just go ahead and ask your husband. He'll tell you.
Greenlee: Tell her.
Ryan: Or maybe he won't, and I will. I found a piece of real estate, nice, that I thought could maybe house both Cambias and Fusion together.
Kendall: Greenlee told me. You put a bid on it.
Ryan: Yes, I did, and I was outbid by Zach.
Kendall: You didn't?
Greenlee: He did. You knew Ryan wanted that building.
Ryan: And he also knows that we want to stop Hayward.
Greenlee: And you chose David.
Zach: It was a business decision. Hayward and I needed that building.
Greenlee: You want to back up David, that's up to you. But doing his kind of dirty work, making moves against your friends out of spite?
Kendall: Ok, you guys, I'm sure if Zach did that, he had a good reason for doing it.
Greenlee: Yeah, he did have a reason -- it's David. Is that a good reason?
Ryan: He had to be spying on me to pull this off, checking into my personal affairs to mess with me like this.
Greenlee: Not "with me," "with us." It's gonna hurt Kendall, too.
Zach: I think Kendall is gonna be ok not being in the same building as the mighty Ryan.
Ryan: And, again, so thoughtful to speak for your wife like that. I'm sure she appreciates that. Don't you, Kendall?
Kendall: Can we stop, please, and can we just talk about this?
Zach: No, let's not. Not up for discussion.
Kendall: Zach, did you really have to do this?
Zach: Yeah.
Kendall: Greenlee and Ryan are obviously very upset.
Zach: They'll get over it.
Kendall: Maybe, but I still don't understand why.
Zach: I thought you were with me all the way.
Kendall: I am.
Zach: Good. Then stop questioning me. You understand?
Kendall: No, I don't. Ok. So now I'm not allowed to ask questions?
Zach: Everything is going according to plan.
Kendall: Zach, screwing over our friends was not part of the plan.
Zach: You said you trusted me. It's more important now than ever.
Kendall: I do, but --
Zach: And you still trust me?
Kendall: Yes.
Zach: Enough for me to tell you another secret?
Greenlee: You saw the look on Kendall's face. She had no idea that Zach bought that property. She's pissed. Maybe she's talking some sense into him right now.
Ryan: I'm not sure even a pissed-off Kendall could get through to Zach right now.
Greenlee: I still believe in Zach. You can't give up on him.
Ryan: I think there's something else going on here, Greenlee.
Kendall: Are you sure about this?
Zach: I had to do it.
Kendall: I know, Zach, but to go this far?
Zach: Shh. Stay with me. I'm doing this for us, remember?
[Doorbell rings]
Kendall: Hey.
Cara: Hi. I'm sorry to bother you guys. Have you heard from my brother, by chance?
Kendall: No. Why?
Cara: I just have this feeling that something bad has happened to him.
David: Take another deep breath for me, please.
David: That's odd. Your heart rate just spiked.
Dixie: Probably because this position reminds me of when you were treating me.
David: Then that should bring you positive memories, since I was giving you back your health.
Dixie: I was only in and out of consciousness with no sense of time or where I was.
David: All you needed to know is that you were in very capable hands.
Dixie: You know, one thing I do remember seeing was -- another woman.
David: That would be Nurse Gayle. She was also taking care of you.
Dixie: No, this woman was a patient. She was on a gurney.
David: Not in my lab. If you don't mind, why don't we get back to the examination.
Dixie: Don't lie to me.
David: Dixie, I swear to you there was no other woman.
Dixie: I know there was. I saw her. Don't lie to me. Who was she?
[Lucy cries]
Frankie: Ohh. I don't get it. Why is she not taking the bottle?
Randi: Maybe she's not hungry.
Frankie: My sister's always hungry -- it's the Hubbard appetite.
Randi: Luckily, the Morgan appetite is a little more dainty.
Frankie: I hate to be the one to tell you, but my Hubbard genes are gonna crush all that dainty.
Randi: We'll see about that.
Frankie: Will we? Ohh. Ok. Come on, Lucy. It's lunchtime. Yes, here you go. Oh, this is not working. You try it.
[Lucy cries]
Randi: Here you go, Lucy. Here you go. What are we doing wrong?
Maya: Try tilting the bottle up.
Randi: Like this?
Maya: Yes, like that.
Randi: She's still turning her head.
Maya: Let me give it a shot. Hi, Lucy. Hi. Do you want some milk? Yes, you do, little girl. Yes, you do. Good girl.
Frankie: Amazing.
Randi: You definitely have that magic touch.
Maya: I've just had a lot of practice.
Randi: All right. I should get back to the office. Thank you for the save.
Maya: Mm-hmm.
Randi: Later, babe.
Frankie: Bye. You were really good with her.
Maya: I hope whoever has my baby is just as good.
Frankie: Tad have any leads?
Maya: Nope. He dropped the case.
Frankie: How come?
Maya: He wouldn't say. I got a feeling that he found out something about my baby and wouldn't tell me.
Angie: Was it an accident? What happened? She was with Frankie and Randi! Where's the phone?
Jesse: Angela --
Angie: We've got to find out what happened to Lucy!
Jesse: Lucy is fine.
Angie: What do you mean? What?! Listen, you just told me that our daughter was dead! Why would you say that?
Jesse: I'm not talking about Lucy.
Angie: What the -- I'm calling Frankie!
Jesse: Angela!
Angie: What?!
Jesse: Listen to me. Lucy is fine.
Angie: I don't understand, Jesse! What is this?! What are you trying to tell me?! What?!
Jesse: Lucy is not our baby.
Cara: He's not answering any of my calls. He's not returning any of my messages.
Greenlee: Isn't he sort of known for being M.I.A.?
Cara: He is known for that, but he's not known for ignoring emergency calls from the hospital or ditching his patients, both of which he's done.
Ryan: Wasn't Griffin getting ready to go the FDA to talk about Project Orpheus?
Cara: He was. He was actually ready to slam the project and slam David. He said the only way he wouldn't go to the FDA is if I'd quit working for Orpheus.
Ryan: Hey, that was a horrible idea, you hooking up with David.
Greenlee: Not exactly bad advice.
Cara: I know where you guys stand. But the thing is if he thought I was in danger, he never would've disappeared. That's why I think something is seriously wrong.
Kendall: You know what? Honestly, maybe he's just blowing off steam. He does that.
Greenlee: Yeah, guys do that.
Ryan: This has got Hayward written all over it. Did he fix it so that Griffin wouldn't go to the FDA or couldn't? Do you have something to do with this, Zach?
David: You were in very bad shape when I treated you. I had you on a ton of meds.
Dixie: I know what I saw.
David: What you saw was a figment of your imagination, most likely a hallucination.
Dixie: Who was she?
David: Dixie --
Dixie: Who was that other woman?
Tad: Dixie, the nurse said you'd be in here --
Angie: You're not making any sense. What do you mean, Lucy isn't our child?
Jesse: She isn't.
Angie: Jesse, what do you mean, she isn't?
Jesse: She doesn't belong to us.
Angie: That's enough. I don't want to hear any more.
Jesse: Angela, I need to do this. You need to hear this. Lucy is not our baby. Our baby died the night she was born. I did everything I could to try to save her, but she wasn't breathing. She wouldn't breathe.
Angie: But you put her in my arms. You handed her to me -- crying, screaming, breathing -- and Lucy was perfectly fine.
Jesse: Yes, Lucy was perfectly fine. Ellie wasn't. Ellie was not strong enough.
Angie: Oh, God, Jesse! Why are you doing this?!
Jesse: Angela, you gave up your sight to bring our daughter into this world! I could not let all of that be for nothing!
Angie: It wasn't for nothing! I stopped taking the medication, so that our baby would be born healthy, and she was.
Jesse: No, she wasn't. When I knew we lost Ellie, I -- I put another baby into your arms.
Angie: No, stop it! Stop it!
Jesse: Baby, listen to me!
Angie: Let me go.
Jesse: It's been killing me keeping this from you all this time, but I couldn't break your heart. I couldn't hurt you. I -- I'm so sorry.
Angie: No. No, no, no, no. I'm sorry. It's not true. None of this is -- it's not true. Just let us -- it's not true.
Jesse: I wish to God it wasn't, but it is. It is. Our baby -- our baby girl is gone.
Angie: Stop lying to me!
Dixie: I came to see Dr. Castillo, Griffin, ok? David was just examining me. Tad, it's not what you think. Oh, God.
David: Looks like your little plan backfired, huh?
Dixie: I am not finished with you.
Frankie: Tad wouldn't hold out on you. He's a good guy.
Maya: Then why did he bail?
Frankie: Probably had a good reason.
Maya: Like what?
Frankie: Maybe the case hit too close to home for him.
Maya: I don't understand.
Frankie: Tad's daughter Kathy was missing for years. Her mother Dixie gave her away right after she was born.
Maya: I heard about that over at Krystal's the other day.
Frankie: Yeah, this psycho doctor talked her in going ahead with the adoption without telling Tad.
Maya: Are you serious?
Frankie: Yeah, Tad spent years searching for her. His whole life was about getting her back.
Maya: Then why is he not helping me find my baby?
Frankie: Maybe it's too painful.
Maya: Maybe. But that's not the feeling I got. I think that he found out what happened to my baby and wants me to stop looking for her.
Frankie: But you can't give up.
Maya: Not a chance. The longer I'm away from her, the more I want her back.
Angie: [Sobs] You -- you say that you love me, then you tell me our baby died? Why would you be so cruel?
Jesse: I'm not trying to be cruel, baby. It's just time for the truth.
Angie: All right. Fine. Go ahead. Tell me the damn truth!
Jesse: Come sit down.
Jesse: The truth is that I shouldn't have taken you to that damn house in the first place. And when you first had problems with that first contraction, I should've taken you straight to the hospital. I can't believe I didn't do that. I slipped that, and I will never forgive myself for that.
Angie: I wanted to stay. It was my choice, and everything turned out fine.
Jesse: No, it didn't. You were in labor, and when the baby started coming, you passed out.
Angie: And you delivered our daughter.
Jesse: I delivered our daughter, who wasn't breathing. She wasn't crying. She was just -- she was just still. I tried to do CPR. I -- I was pumping on her little chest, begging her to take a breath.
Angie: No. No. No, that didn't happen. That's not what happened.
Jesse: I did everything I could to save her, Angela, but she wouldn't breathe. She was gone.
Angie: No. Lies. All these lies, Jesse -- they're just lies!
Jesse: Baby, I held her. I held her in my arms, and I rocked her. I apologized to her. I apologized to you, because I promised I was gonna bring that baby into this world safe, and I let you down.
Angie: I don't --
Jesse: Ellie knows that we love her. She knew. She was at peace.
Angie: No.
Jesse: That's when I -- that's when I put Lucy into your arms. And soon after that -- baby, soon after that, I buried Ellie --
Angie: No! No! No! No, I don't believe you! I don't believe you! No!
Jesse: I wanted to tell you --
[Angie cries]
Jesse: I wanted to tell you. I couldn't hurt you. I couldn't. I couldn't do it. I -- Baby, I'm so sorry. Please --
Angie: Take me to her.
Jesse: She's under -- she's --
Angie: Take me to her. What did you do? What did you do with Ellie?
Jesse: Baby, I will take you to her. She's under a beautiful tree in a beautiful, quiet little spot. I promise.
Angie: I want you to show me.
Cara: "Sorry I didn't say good-bye, but I knew you wouldn't let me go. Please tell everybody in the hospital I'm sorry, and hopefully everyone will understand, but I had to go back to where I belong: D.W.B. I didn't see any point in sticking around when there's nothing keeping me there anymore."
Ryan: Is that it?
Cara: No. "You didn't want me to go to the FDA, so I didn't, because I could never say no to you. This is gonna be the last e-mail for a while. You know how I get when I get back into work, but I'll be thinking of you. Su hermano."
Kendall: I didn't ask him to leave.
Cara: I know. Sorry I freaked out over nothing and I barged in like this. Excuse me.
Zach: I'll walk you out.
Kendall: Ok. All right. If you're both gonna go off on Zach, then you can leave right now.
Ryan: We're not going anywhere.
Kendall: I'm not gonna listen to you trash my husband.
Greenlee: The man that just walked out that door is not your husband. How can you not see that?
Kendall: Zach almost died, ok? I mean, you can't expect him to just forget about that.
Greenlee: We don't. Being confused or a little off is one thing, but this is beyond that. The things that he's saying, the decisions that he's making?
Ryan: Zach is certainly making it seem like David is controlling his every move.
Kendall: Would you stop exaggerating? All right? Zach is just showing David how grateful he is for what he has done for him, ok? Why don't you just get over it?
Greenlee: You have to stop this before it gets worse, because it will get worse.
Kendall: Ok, who the hell are you to criticize what Zach is doing? After your year away with David, you were so whacked out, you married the guy. I mean, you practically worshiped the ground he walked on. You had total devotion to him. You wouldn't even listen to anyone else.
Ryan: Which is exactly what's happening with Zach.
Kendall: He can do whatever he wants, ok? He doesn't have to explain himself to either of you.
Ryan: That's totally true. You're 100% right, but I don't buy it, Kendall. Come on. Zach goes out and buys a huge piece of commercial real estate just to prove his loyalty to David? Really, a guy that you wanted dead a few weeks ago?
Kendall: That was before he gave me my husband back -- and gave my children their father back. You know what? I don't want to talk about this anymore, ok, so can you all please just go? Can you please just leave?
Ryan: Kendall, we want to help both of you.
Kendall: I don't need help, ok? We don't need help. We're fine, ok?
Greenlee: Listen. You're my best friend. I know you better than anyone, and pretending that you're not struggling with this -- I can see that you're struggling with this. You're not ok with any of this. How could you be?
Kendall: You're right. I'm not ok. I hate it.
David: I agree it doesn't make sense. Look, let me get back to you. I know I'm late for the meeting. That was Cara Castillo on the phone. She just got an e-mail from her brother. Apparently, he dropped everything and went back to Doctors Without Borders.
Zach: Good for him.
David: Yeah, I guess it could be, if it were true. Why don't you tell me what really happened to Griffin?
Dixie: I'd like to explain what you walked in on. I --
Tad: All right? I don't want to know, ok? It's all good.
Dixie: Tad, listen. I thought if I put myself in the same position that I was in when I saw the other woman's hand on the gurney, that I would remember something! That maybe --
Tad: That you put yourself in the same position after everything he has done to you and me, everything he's cost us, all the pain, all the loss, what he did to Kathy?! I can't believe you would ever let that son of a bitch put his hands on you again!
Jesse: There's a low wall here. I'm gonna have you sit and just swing your legs over, ok?
Jesse: Here she is, baby. This is where Ellie's buried.
Angie: Ooh. No. No, it's not true. It's not her.
Jesse: I'm so sorry, baby.
Angie: No, I'm not doing this. I can't. I can't do this. Oh -- oh, baby. My baby! I -- I want her back. Give her back. Give her back to me! Give her back to me! Give me! Give me my baby back! Give me my baby back! I want her back! I want my baby back! I want my baby back!
Tad: Cara. Um, huh. I'm glad you're here. I was trying to reach you. I hope you remember we have our Immigration interviews this afternoon.
Cara: I didn't mean to interrupt.
Tad: No, it's fine. Believe me, we're done here. I hope you remember that you had to go in solo, so maybe we want to go through our list of answers again.
Dixie: I will talk to you later.
Tad: So you -- -maybe you should change clothes before we go.
Cara: I'm not going.
Tad: Cara, that is such a mistake.
Cara: I made a lot of mistakes, so what's one more, huh?
Zach: Why are you asking me about Castillo?
David: The guy is threatening to take down Orpheus, and he's madly in love with your wife. You tell me that you're gonna get him out of the way, and all of a sudden he disappears. I'm sure you can understand why I might be a little bit concerned.
Zach: According to the e-mail, he went back overseas.
David: I know what the e-mail said, but I have my doubts as to whether or not he actually sent it. What did you do to him?
Zach: You don't want to know.
Ryan: So you do think something's up with Zach?
Greenlee: I knew you had to see it.
Kendall: That's not what I meant. What I meant was that Zach's return has been challenging.
Ryan: Something's up, Kendall. You know it, don't you?
Kendall: Would you stop putting words in my mouth, Ryan?
Ryan: I'm not putting words in your mouth. You said you hate what's going on here, so then why are you going along with it?
Greenlee: We get that you love Zach. We care about him, too.
Kendall: Ryan doesn't care about Zach. He hasn't stopped attacking him since he's been home.
Ryan: Are you kidding me? Look, whatever he's up to, he's dragging you along with it, right? You got to see that.
Kendall: The only thing I see is your refusal to back off.
Greenlee: Listen, we're just trying to figure out why Zach would go to such extremes to help David. Donating money? Fine. Good PR? Great. Stabbing us in the back?
Kendall: Zach -- you heard him. He said it's not personal. He's doing what needs to be done.
Ryan: Meaning what? Do you really expect us to believe that he's just enlisting as a soldier in Hayward's army?
Greenlee: Zach doesn't take orders from anyone, especially David. You must see that.
Kendall: All right. Thank you so much for describing my husband -- I appreciate it -- but you all can leave now.
Ryan: Kendall --
Kendall: No, you guys don't get it, ok? You don't understand.
Ryan: Ok. So then make us understand. Explain it to us.
Maya: I hope my little girl is just as sweet as you. I don't know where she is yet, but I do know one thing. I'm gonna be a better mother to her. I am because I got to take care of you. I love you, Lucy, so much -- just as if you were my own.
Angie: No! [Cries] Oh, oh, Ellie. Oh, Ellie, Mommy's here, and I'm so sorry, baby girl. I'm so sorry I never got to hold you, never got to kiss you, never got to -- never got to say good-bye. [Sobs]
