[Door slams]

Scott: How was your night in the slammer?

J.R.: You should know. You've racked up enough time behind bars.

Scott: I'll give you that one.

J.R.: Actually, it wasn't as bad as coming home to you. Why don't you go to your half-built shack, leave me alone?

Scott: Still a fun guy, I see.

J.R.: Door's where it's always been.

Scott: I gotta tell you, I found it to be a breath of fresh air with you gone. In fact, I think everyone did.

J.R.: You know what that means to me? That I haven't missed anything.

David: Dixie. You look lovely.

Dixie: What are you doing here?

David: What do you think I'm doing? I've come to welcome you home.

Cara: Tad, you're right. We do need time. But -- especially you. Dixie's home now.

Tad: Cara, just because Dixie's back, that doesn't change the fact that you and I are married. We made a commitment to one another.

Cara: You know what, everything has changed, and I want you to be free to figure out where you're gonna go from here. Forget any obligation that you might feel for me.

Jack: I know you're nervous, Miss Campbell, but this is a very good thing you're doing.

Jane: I'm not so sure.

Jack: Believe me, it is. Coming back here with me to prove that Erica is sane.

Jane: But I don't want to go to prison.

Jack: Well, we don't necessarily have to have that as an outcome.

Jane: I kidnapped Erica Kane.

Jack: And you set her free. I think we can make an insanity plea.

Jane: And spend the rest of my life in the nuthouse? No, thank you.

Erica: Jane! Jane!

Kendall: Oh, my God.

Zach: You're not safe with me. You never were, Kendall. When this is all over, when this is done, we're done.

Greenlee: No, no, you're not thinking clearly. No one is leaving anyone, ok? So, just calm down --

Zach: I am calm. If you stay with me, you're gonna die, and I'm not gonna let that happen. There are people who are after me. They're bad people.

Greenlee: No, Zach. Not anymore.

Zach: Bad people, and they won't give up. They're gonna keep coming, coming after our family.

Greenlee: No. Your family is fine. Nothing is gonna happen to them.

Zach: That's what you do, isn't it? You want to keep me from worrying. You don't want me to worry. That's nice, Kendall. I like that.

Greenlee: I'm not Kendall. I'm Greenlee. You're hallucinating. Look at me, Zach. Please, please. Just look at me. Look at me. I'm not Kendall. I'm Greenlee. Please, Zach. Tell me you believe me.

Erica: Jack, you found her! And you brought her back here.

Kendall: She looks just like you.

Erica: Yeah.

Kendall: Seeing the two of you together --

Erica: You can imagine how I felt the first time I laid eyes on her.

Jane: Would you please stop talking about me like I'm not here?

Kendall: Who the hell do you think you are? Or do you even know? You kidnapped my mother on her wedding day. You came into our lives and pretended that you were her.

Jane: Look, Kendall, I --

Kendall: No, you look. Look what you've done to this entire family. You have tormented us! You have played us, all of us. All the while, you had my mother locked up like some caged animal.

Jane: I'm sorry about that.

Kendall: You're sorry? You think we're just gonna let you walk away?

Jack: Kendall.

Jane: You promised you'd let me go.

Erica: In exchange for my freedom, Jane. I would have promised you anything.

Jane: You lied to me?

Erica: With you gone and no evidence of the kidnapping, everyone thought I was crazy.

Jack: That's what I was telling you about, remember?

Jane: That's not my fault.

Kendall: This was all of your fault.

Erica: The whole story -- being kidnapped by someone who looked exactly like me? It did sound crazy. And I wound up locked up again in an asylum. And I can't go back there, Jane. And I won't have to if you do the right thing.

Jane: But then, they'll put me away.

Erica: Jane, aren't you tired of living a lie? Please, Jane. If I have inspired you half as much as you said I have, then be the woman you want to be. Do the right thing.

Tad: Sweetheart, come here for a second. Come here. Sit down.

Cara: Ok.

Tad: You have to know that you are so much more than an obligation to me.

Cara: I know that.

Tad: No, I mean -- I know the thing may have started out as like a green card marriage, but it's not that anymore.

Cara: But things have changed.

Tad: But it doesn't change the way that I feel about you. You made me believe that I had a chance to feel for someone the way I never thought I would again.

Cara: The way that you cared for Dixie, and you still could, right?

Tad: Believe me, I have no idea how things stand between me and Dixie. I know you've heard a lot of fairy tale things about the two of us around town. But the fact is, last time I saw Dixie, we weren't even together, not as a couple.

Cara: But you could be again. That's what I'm -- right? I'm sorry. That was so -- that was not fair of me to ask you that question.

Tad: No, no, it was fair. And I would give anything to have an answer for you. But right now, things are --

Cara: They're complicated. And that's all the more reason why I don't want you worrying about me. Ok?

[Cell phone rings]

Tad: What? Uh, no, no, Brot. I'm sorry. No. Yeah. No, I understand. Thanks for the heads up. Well, it's official. J.R. has been released.

Cara: Wow. He doesn't even know his mother's alive.

Scott: J.R., do you even care what this is doing to A.J.?

J.R.: Leave my son out of this.

Scott: No, of course you don't, do you? It's always about you. Always has been.

J.R.: Don't push me right now, Scott.

Scott: While you were sleeping it off in prison, Colby almost lost her grandmother in the Oak Haven fire. Yeah, that's right. Colby's --

J.R.: I don't give a damn about Marian, where she winds up. She never liked me anyway.

Scott: My father, your uncle loved Marian, so that's enough for you to care.

J.R.: Blah, blah, blah.

Scott: That's great. Real mature.

J.R.: That's what you sound like to me, a bunch of white noise.

Scott: Listen to me. If you continue on with this drinking, you're gonna bring your whole family down. What would Uncle Adam say if he saw you right now?

J.R.: Oh, shut up.

Scott: I got a better question for you. What would Dixie say?

Tad: I don't know what to do. Dixie's dying to see J.R. I had to come up with an excuse. I didn't have the heart to tell her he's been arrested, he was in jail, he's drinking again.

Cara: He isn't in jail anymore.

Tad: That's the trick. I have no idea how he is.

Cara: You're not gonna hide this from her forever.

Tad: I can't. We're talking about you and me, ok?

Cara: We can wait.

Tad: No. No, we can't wait, and we're not going to, because this is so important.

Cara: J.R. and Dixie's reunion is important. Now, excuse me. I need to get back to the hospital.

Tad: Cara. We started this thing together, and that's the way we're gonna finish it.

Cara: Ok.

J.R.: Ha ha ha!

Scott: What's so funny?

J.R.: You. Trying to guilt-trip me with my mother, make me the good guy. My mom's dead, father should be, too.

Scott: All right, don't say that.

J.R.: Why, Scott? You seen him around here lately?

Scott: So that's your excuse for drinking, is that it? You're some kind of orphan?

J.R.: Why don't you take over the family? It's what you've always wanted to do since you came to town.

Scott: No, it's not true.

J.R.: Sure it is, except you have what it takes. You and your lame mechanical heart valves and your stolen nanotech crap. And now you're trying to build this little house with your own two hands. What a joke.

Scott: It's my father's house.

J.R.: I can't wait for those walls to fall in on you.

Scott: It's not gonna happen.

J.R.: You know what will happen, what's always gonna happen? It's your destiny, cousin -- failure.

David: You really do seem to be a bit ungrateful. You wouldn't be in the arms of your loved ones if it weren't for me. You do know that, don't you?

Dixie: You did something horrible.

David: Did I? What did I do? Tell me, Dixie.

Dixie: I can't remember everything.

David: Well, then, it can't be so horrible if you can't even remember it.

Dixie: I don't want to remember. I just want to go, ok?

David: Not just yet.

Dixie: Please don't come any closer.

Tad: You heard her, David. Back off.

Erica: I have faith in you, Jane. You can choose to do the right thing. I will help you any way I can.

Jane: Thank you.

[Doorbell rings]

Erica: Then you will tell them everything?

Jane: But first I have to call Ben.

Erica: Is he the only one you have to call?

Jane: What do you mean?

Jesse: What the hell?

Kendall: Yeah, you may need a minute to believe what you're seeing.

Jack: Miss Campbell, I believe you will remember the chief of police. You met him when you were pretending to be Erica.

Jane: I guess you want me to make a statement about the kidnapping.

Jesse: Uh, yeah. Yeah, a statement and um -- the names of your accomplices.

Jane: There was just one.

Erica: David Hayward.

Jane: No, Ben. He was the only one.

Erica: David has to be connected.

Jesse: Erica, why are you so insistent that David Hayward is involved here.

Erica: Because I have reason to believe that Dixie Martin was being held in the same place I was. David has to be part of this.

Greenlee: Please, Zach, just look at me. It's Greenlee. Let me help you. We've missed you so much. I've missed you.

Zach: You've missed me?

Greenlee: Yes, me. Greenlee. Your friend. Remember everything that we've been through? And we need each other now, so please, please tell me that you don't see Kendall when you look at me. Please, just -- see me.

Zach: Greenlee. Sure. Ugh!

Greenlee: What's happening? What's happening, Zach?

Zach: Oh, it's ok. I'm ok.

Greenlee: No, you know what, we took those drugs out. You can't just go cold turkey. You have to taper it off.

Zach: No more drugs.

Greenlee: Ok, calm down. Lie down on the bed, and I'll see if I can find --

Zach: No more drugs, I said! Not ever.

[Dixie crying]

Tad: It's ok. From now on, you're gonna stay away from Dixie. Do you understand me?

David: Do you understand that I'm the reason she's even alive?

Tad: I'm aware. I'm also aware that you kept her drugged and away from her family all this time.

David: So she could recover and come back to you, as she has now.

Tad: Have you ever heard the word "kidnapping"?

David: She was basically dead, Tad. I didn't know for sure if I could bring her back.

Tad: So you decided to step in and play God again, is that what you're telling me?

David: Well, she is alive now, isn't she?

Tad: Why don't you tell me what happened?

Dixie: It's hard to remember.

David: Like most trauma patients, they don't remember the pain and suffering. And that's a good thing.

Tad: Maybe you should save it for the judge. With any luck, he won't buy any of this either.

David: I, for one, would rather focus on the fact that Dixie is here, alive and well.

Tad: And she's gonna be a lot better, just as soon as you're gone. Come here. What are you doing here?

Dixie: I just wanted to get some air.

Tad: You told me you were going to the kitchen. I turn around, I come back, you're gone. You scared the hell out of me.

Dixie: I'm sorry. I -- I just wanted to feel what it would feel like to be free.

Tad: And instead, you ran into David. Probably the last person you wanted to run into. I'm sorry. I guess we should just be grateful he didn't try to take you away again.

Dixie: I don't want to talk about David, ok? Let's just go. Let's go see J.R.

Tad: I was just gonna set that up.

Dixie: Ok, good, great. Let's go.

Tad: Dixie, maybe you should let me prepare him, ok?

Jane: You guys keep talking about David as if I knew him from before.

Erica: That's what we're trying to figure out. Was there another person being held in the room next to mine? Dixie Martin?

Jane: No. No one else. Why would I ever hold someone else hostage?

Jesse: So, you don't know anything about this Project Orpheus?

Jane: Orpheus? No.

Jack: What is Project Orpheus?

Kendall: Don't even ask.

Jesse: Medical research. It has to do with stem cells. Apparently, it is the miracle that saved Greenlee, Dixie, and Dr. Maria Santos.

Kendall: David cannot control miracles.

Jesse: Believe it or not, I'm actually hoping that this one time he can. This Project Orpheus might allow my wife Angela to see again.

Kendall: All right, I really hope Angie gets her sight back, I do, but I cannot have one more discussion about David bringing people back from the brink. I just -- I can't.

Jesse: Can I talk with you? I got a few more questions to ask you, please.

Jack: So, what's going on with Kendall?

Erica: She just can't allow herself to believe that --

Jack: That what? That Zach could still be alive? Erica, you don't believe that could really be true?

Erica: Jack, after what I've been through, after what we've both seen, I could believe just about anything.

Jack: Zach hated Hayward.

Erica: There was no love lost between either of them. Jack, could we just take a moment to enjoy my newfound freedom?

Jesse: Wait a minute. Hold on. Although Jane, here, showing up, giving me a statement, does prove that the kidnapping did happen.

Erica: Meaning I am not insane.

Jesse: But you're not free to leave. I can't let you walk out of here. You stabbed David Hayward.

Jane: No! You can't put Erica in jail. I stabbed David Hayward.

Greenlee: You're burning up. You should have come off these drugs slowly.

Zach: Just keep talking to me. Keep talking. We'll be all right.

Greenlee: Ok. Well, um -- the boys have really grown in the last few months. Spike's into baseball.

Zach: Baseball? What's that?

Greenlee: Yeah, but it's not his favorite sport. He still loves hockey and your Detroit Red Wings.

[Zach exhales loudly]

Greenlee: And Ian -- I can't believe how much he's starting to look like you. Spike is getting so big. Then there's Ryan. We're back together again for good --

Zach: Can I ask you something? Greenlee, did Kendall meet somebody?

Kendall: When you came back to Pine Valley, you said you came back for me.

Griffin: That's true.

Kendall: Then what are we doing? We should be together. What the hell are you waiting for?

[Cell phone rings]

Jesse: Excuse me -- a sec.

Erica: Jane? Are you sure you want to do this?

Jack: Taking the blame for stabbing Hayward, that could get you more time in prison.

Jane: After what I did to you? You never would have stabbed David if it hadn't been for me kidnapping you. What's a few more years behind bars?

Erica: I've been to prison. You may change your mind after you get there.

Jane: No, I won't. I took so much from you after all you gave me. When my little girl died, I followed your life like it was my own. I got so involved in the drama of your life that it saved mine. And I should have been grateful for that. But instead, I took so much from you. I locked you up -- so, no, my taking the rap for you? That's my apology. That's my thank you.

Erica: You are an amazing woman.

Jane: Takes one to know one.

Jack: Jane, I want you to know that I am very grateful, and I will be there for you in court.

Jane: Thank you. Thank you, Jack.

Jesse: Problem here?

Jack: No, no. Not at all. Just saying our good-byes to Jane.

Jesse: You sure about this?

Jane: Like they say on TV -- cuff me. Or --

Jesse: We're fine. I guess it's a good thing your friend here decided to come clean, isn't it? Shall we?

Erica: Jack, you really meant what you said, didn't you?

Jack: Of course.

Erica: You are gonna be there for her?

Jack: Absolutely.

Erica: You know I'm not giving up.

Jack: Yeah, I know. Believe me. I was just hoping maybe you would take time to take a deep breath.

Erica: Because if David Hayward is really behind what happened to me, and I firmly believe that he is, then he's the one I want to see punished.

Jack: So no breath, huh?

Erica: When Jane said that nobody else was being held where I was, I believed her. She seemed sincere.

Jack: And you seem to be sure that you weren't alone.

Erica: Because the same banging I heard while I was there, that's the same banging that Dixie was doing at Oak Haven. And I think Ben knew it, too. But Ben had no reason to hold Dixie.

Jack: And Hayward did.

Erica: So if we can get ahold of Ben --

Jack: I've been calling the number Jane gave me, but I'm having a hard time getting through.

Erica: We need to try again. Because if we can get Ben to testify that he was just following David's orders, then David will finally pay for all the crimes he's committed.

Greenlee: Kendall has missed you so much. She hasn't been the same since you've been gone.

Zach: You haven't answered my question.

Greenlee: Nobody could ever take your place, Zach. She hasn't been able to forget you. Maybe that's because you were the one, the only one. That's why you need to rest and make yourself stronger, so you can get back to her.

Zach: I'm tired of waiting. I want to go home.

Griffin: You're really confusing me.

Kendall: I think I've been very clear.

Griffin: You come busting in here asking me why you and I aren't together anymore. Project Orpheus. You've gotta be wondering if Zach could be alive.

Kendall: Would you stop with that, please? What is wrong with all of you people? Why do you all keep obsessing on this ridiculous nonsense?

Griffin: I don't know about all these other people, but I know how this is affecting you.

Kendall: I came here about us, about you and me. So why do you keep bringing up Zach?

Griffin: Because you won't. I know this must be hard for you. But it looks like you're so afraid to admit the possibility that Zach might be alive, you're trying to latch on to something or someone else.

Kendall: So we never meant anything to each other? I'm just some poor, desperate widow?

Griffin: Do not do that. Do not put words in my mouth, Kendall. You and I have meant something to each other since the first moment we met. But I will not let you deny all thoughts of Zach. I can't. Sooner or later, you're just gonna have --

Kendall: Will you stop? I don't want to talk about him! I don't want to talk about him. Can you not understand that?

Griffin: Fine, fine. Then let's talk about my sister. Cara fell in love with Tad, and now her heart's being ripped to shreds, because the love of Tad's life has come back to Pine Valley.

Cara: Hi.

Dixie: Hi. Tad asked me to wait here.

Cara: It's ok. I'm actually leaving. So --

Dixie: No, no. You don't have to.

Cara: I gotta get to work.

Dixie: Tad's bringing J.R. over to see me.

Cara: That's wonderful.

Dixie: Yeah.

Cara: Excuse me.

Dixie: You know, I really should meet him at J.R.'s house.

Cara: Oh, no, no. Honestly, it's ok.

Dixie: This is your home. I really shouldn't be here.

Cara: You need to be here, for so many reasons, especially for your daughter.

Dixie: Thank you. Thank you so much for helping with Kathy.

Cara: It's been a pleasure.

Dixie: Tad's just been a wonderful father.

Cara: He has. Amazing. I gotta get to work. Sorry.

J.R.: Want to go see Scott? Go and see him. He's in the gatehouse. He's working on his little -- project.

Madison: Why do you have to be so dismissive of everything Scott does?

J.R.: Because he's so dismissible.

Madison: Or maybe you're just jealous.

J.R.: Of what?

Madison: That deep down you know you'll never be half the man Scott is. All he has to do to get someone interested in him is be himself.

J.R.: Your fan club's here.

Scott: You ok?

Madison: I'm fine. I don't know about your cousin over here, though.

Scott: Let's go take a walk.

J.R.: Don't worry about me! I'll be fine.

Tad: I'm afraid that's easier said than done. You're coming with me to my house.

J.R.: Why would I do that, when I have this big old place to myself?

Tad: J.R., it's not open for dis --

J.R.: Whoa! Are you planning some kind of intervention? 'Cause I don't think so, not after you let them throw me in jail. I guess that's your idea of tough love. Well, next time, mind your own business.

Tad: J.R., you are my business. And if I think letting you cool your heels in a jail cell for a while is gonna help you pull it together, I'm gonna do it.

J.R.: To life in jail.

Tad: I hope you know I see past all of the bravado and the booze and the "I don't give a damn," all the way back to the sweet little kid I knew when you were growing up. He's in there somewhere. I know he is. I'm gonna be damned if I let you snuff him out by throwing your life away.

J.R.: It's my life to throw away.

Tad: Yeah, J.R., it is. It's your life to save or to destroy. But I can't stop you. I'm sure neither can your m --

J.R.: My what?

Tad: After you get yourself together and you sober up, I want you to come over to my place. There's something I want you to see.

J.R.: What?

Tad: And I mean sober. Don't show up drunk again. 'Cause if you do, I won't let you in. And if you don't show up at all, believe me, you will regret it for the rest of your life.

Erica: Jack, I still can't believe what Jane did for me. It's one thing to confess to kidnapping, but to lie for me? To claim that she's the one who stabbed David?

Jack: I think you got to her. I think Jane's a good person who's had a lot of bad breaks, and you appealed to that person. Let's just hope that we can get to Ben.

Jack: That might not lead us to Hayward. You know that.

Erica: It has to. There is no other explanation. I know that David is the missing part.

[Cell phone rings]

Jack: Hopefully that's Ben calling back.

[Ring]

Zach: I gotta go. I gotta get to Kendall.

Greenlee: No. You have to calm down.

Zach: I know what I have to do. I have to get to Kendall, show her I'm ok.

Greenlee: But you're not, not yet.

Zach: She thinks I'm dead.

Greenlee: You're going to be if you keep pushing yourself, ok? Come on. Just stop. Come on. Come on. Oh! Oh! Zach! Zach! Zach!

[Music playing]

Scott: That's another reason why I love being in the park in the summer, all the music that goes on, yeah.

Madison: I think you did a really great job with the gatehouse.

Scott: I'm glad you were able to come by and check it out.

Madison: It's bigger than I remember it being, though.

Scott: Yeah. When I was working on it, I was thinking about the future, you know, when I have a family of my own, kids.

Madison: I hope you get everything you want, Scott. Can't think of a more deserving guy, no matter what J.R. says.

Scott: I appreciate what you said before, even though it was just to push J.R.'s buttons.

Madison: I said you were twice the man J.R. could ever be, because it's true.

Scott: Well, you're not so bad yourself.

Madison: I think that's the nicest thing anyone's said to me in a while.

Scott: 'Cause you never complain about having hot dogs in the park for lunch.

Madison: I figure long as you're treating.

Scott: Oh, really? I thought it was just to enjoy my company.

Madison: No, it was just the hot dogs.

Scott: Oh, is that it?

Madison: Duh.

Scott: Oh. Yeah, they are good.

Madison: So's the company.

[Door closes]

Dixie: Where's J.R.? I thought you were gonna bring him over.

Tad: I was. Dixie, look, I'm sorry. I was looking for a way to tell you this.

Dixie: What? What's going on? Is J.R. ok? Did something happen?

Tad: J.R --

[Door opens]

Tad: Has a problem.

J.R.: Tad, I thought a lot about what you had to s --

Erica: I hope you're enjoying your last few days of freedom.

David: Shouldn't you be on a bus heading to the new facility with the rest of your Oak Haven inmates?

Erica: Sorry to disappoint you, but Jane just confessed to everything.

David: So you found her.

Erica: Jack did. And when Ben gets here, he's gonna confess, too.

David: Ben -- ok. And I care about this Ben fellow because --

Erica: You can drop the act. I know you were behind all this, David.

David: Was I? How clever of me.

Erica: You better be super clever after Ben speaks to the police, or they're gonna put you away for a very long time.

David: Hmm. I'll tell you what. Why wait for Ben? Go to the police yourself. But if you do that, you'll never know who else I've saved, and it may just be someone you loved, someone you loved and lost.

Kendall: I'm sorry for what Cara's going through. I know that she has real feelings for Tad. And Dixie being back --

Griffin: Has pretty much devastated her. I'm trying to make it easier on the two of us. If the same is true about Zach --

Kendall: Would you stop? Stop! This is bull. This is ridiculous. Just say that you're not ready to be with somebody, that you're not ready to do this, but don't give me some crazy story about my dead husband being alive.

Griffin: How are you so sure he isn't?

Kendall: Because if Zach were alive, he would come back to me by now.

Greenlee: Zach! Zach! Zach, wake up! Wake up! Zach! Help! Somebody, please! Call David! We need help in here!
