Tad: I really wish you would eat something. I think it's a good idea. All the time you spent in Oak Haven, God knows what David was pumping into your system. You have to take care of yourself.
Dixie: This feels familiar -- you dodging sticky questions.
Tad: You want to know about Cara.
Dixie: I know one thing. She sure is beautiful.
Cara: I am happy. Thank you.
Griffin: Happy?
Cara: Happy for Tad. Dixie coming back after all this time -- that has got to mean something.
Griffin: There's no guarantee that Tad's gonna go running back to Dixie. I mean, look at, well --
Cara: Jake and me, 'cause he didn't leave Amanda and come running back to me. I get it. Yeah. Why doesn't that make me feel better?
Jake: That's a good sign, Master T. Still loves his fries. Perfect. That's a good sign, right, Mama? Yeah.
Amanda: Oh, thank you, honey. I'm not supposed to eat before the -- you know what, Mommy's not really hungry right now, so these are all for you, ok?
Jake: I actually have a better idea. We should probably get together later on, have a real meal, 'cause French fries aren't really enough. How's that? Ok?
Amanda: Ok. Right now, Mommy has to go to the hospital, ok?
Angie: Jesse, I can't believe you did this.
Jesse: Why not? You're looking at Mr. Romance here.
Angie: What's the room like?
Jesse: It's small, antiquey. Glad you can't see it, but it's nice and private. Hey, baby, what's wrong? Lucy's fine. She's in good hands. Randi and Frankie are taking good care of her, all right?
Angie: I'm not worried about Lucy, although I still don't understand why you didn't just let her stay with Maya.
Jesse: Jake and Amanda, they needed somebody to look after Trevor while Amanda's in the hospital. I recommended Maya. She's familiar with the building. She's always running into Trevor. They're a perfect fit. And Randi, she's chomping at the bit to get her hands on the baby, anyway, so win-win, right?
Angie: I just still can't believe that you had time to do all this.
Jesse: For you? Come on. It's all worth it. Now, tell me what you're thinking.
Angie: You're not going to like it.
Ryan: Hayward is on the move.
Kendall: What?
Ryan: And it looks like he's headed out of town. Hopefully straight to Greenlee. I'll call you as soon as I know anything, ok?
Kendall: No, like hell. I'm coming with you.
Greenlee: Zach. It's Greenlee. Your mother's gone. Your father's locked up. He's not gonna hurt anyone ever again.
Zach: I'll never let you go, Mom. I won't let you die.
Greenlee: Wait. Whoa! Zach! Zach! What are you doing? Zach, no!
Tad: Dixie, this thing between me and Cara is complicated.
Dixie: It's ok. I get it. You found someone, right?
Tad: Yeah, but it wasn't like that.
Dixie: It's ok. You thought I was dead. You moved on. It's ok.
Tad: It's really important that you understand everything that happened, why it happened, but maybe not this second. You've been through enough -- Oak Haven and Kathy. Mentally, physically, I just don't want you to feel bombarded.
Dixie: I'm not feeling bombarded.
Tad: All right, then, tell me what you want me to do.
Dixie: I want you to stop talking. I'm not a little doll. I'm not gonna break.
[Tad laughing]
Dixie: What?! Stop!
Tad: Talking?
Dixie: Yes!
Tad: Just --
Dixie: Silence yourself. [Laughing]
Tad: Do you have any idea who you sounded like just then?
Dixie: No.
Tad: You.
Cara: What Jake and I had was -- was incredible, but it was like we were in some kind of heightened state of awareness.
Griffin: Yeah, no, I get it. People think we were the brave ones out there, dodging IEDs and patching up civilians. If you ask me, this regular day-to-day stuff is much harder.
Cara: And that's what Tad and Dixie had. They had that day-to-day stuff. They got history. They have a child together.
Griffin: So do Zach and Kendall.
Cara: But Zach's gone, Griff.
Griffin: Maybe.
Cara: Ok, his plane blew up over the ocean, and even if David could find him, there's no way he could have survived that.
Amanda: I know I don't look sick, but I still have to go to the hospital, ok, buddy?
Jake: You know what it's like, Trev? You know when we go to Dr. Ogden, and he gives you that shot called the vaccine just to make sure that you don't get sick in the future? Then what happens? He gives you a lollipop. It's kind of the same thing. We're taking Mommy to the hospital, just to make sure that she doesn't get sick in the future. And guess what you get to do. Guess what you get to do while we're doing that. You get to hang out with Lucy's babysitter Maya.
Amanda: Yay!
Jake: Do you remember Maya?
Amanda: Yeah.
Jake: There's Maya.
Amanda: There she is.
Maya: You ready to have some fun?
Amanda: Oh, first I think you might have to make a stop at the kitchen first. Somebody's been asking for a popsicle.
Maya: Ok, you got it.
Jake: Hope they have popsicles back there. Go on. You'll have a good time. He'll be fine. He'll be fine. Don't worry.
Amanda: I know. Thank you.
Jake: For what?
Amanda: Thank you for loving me.
Jesse: This place here -- is a David Hayward-free zone. I don't want to talk about him. I don't want to think about him.
Angie: Fair enough, but can you help me with something first?
Jesse: Absolutely, babe. What? Anything but that.
Angie: Jesse, please. I know that you don't trust David. I'm barely there myself, but he promised that these drops could help. Now, would you?
Jesse: You sure this stuff is even legit?
Angie: What's the worst that can happen? They make me go blind?
Jesse: Not funny. Here.
Angie: You know what, that's ok. Just hold these. I think I got it.
Jesse: You sure?
Angie: Yeah. All right. Thank you.
Jesse: Still got the most beautiful eyes in the world.
Angie: Oh, stop. Mmm. It's working.
Jesse: What, the drops?
Angie: No, the distraction. David who?
Kendall: You drive. I'll direct. Deal?
Ryan: Do I have a choice?
Kendall: Not really. No.
Zach: Stay away from my mother, you son of a bitch.
Alexander's voice: You will not leave me. No one ever leaves me!
Amelia's voice: I'll leave you! I will do whatever I have to to save my son from you! Aah! Aah!
Young Zach's voice: Mama!
Zach: I said stay away from her.
Alexander's voice: No more of that. I will kill Kendall, and you'll watch her die -- knowing that I always win.
Zach's voice: Uhh!
Greenlee: Just lie down. Try to relax.
Young Zach's voice: Mama!
Alexander's voice: It's not your fault. You didn't mean to do it.
Young Zach's voice: I didn't do it. I didn't do it. Mama!
Zach: I didn't do it.
Greenlee: I know.
Zach: He killed her. Never again. I'll never let anyone get that close to hurt me like that ever again, especially not you.
Tad: I've just been wondering when you're gonna start sounding a little more like yourself, and you don't disappoint.
Dixie: Oh, thank you very much. Me snapping at you sounds like me.
Tad: Let's just say, you're no stranger to having an opinion when it comes to me. And it's music to my ears. It's a miracle. You're a miracle. When you think of it, in spite of everything, in spite of David Hayward doing his worst, he couldn't keep you away from us. Are you ok?
Dixie: Yeah.
Tad: We should take you to the hospital --
Dixie: No, no. No hospitals.
Tad: Hayward won't have anything to do with it, ok? Cara's on staff there, and she's an amazing doctor. She'll make sure of it.
Dixie: She's a doctor?
Tad: Runs in the family.
Amanda: Well, at least I'll know I'm getting the best possible treatment, right? Nobody's gonna want to mess with the chief of staff.
Jake: I'm not gonna be the chief of staff today. I'm yours. I'm with you every step of the way. Your husband, that's all I am.
Amanda: Like when I had Trevor. I have never been so scared in my entire life. And looking into your eyes, I knew that everything was gonna be ok.
Jake: Let's do that game right now. I love that game. Look into my eyes. Look in my eyes. What do you see? Hmm? What do you see?
Amanda: The man I love.
Jake: Yeah? You know what I see? I see the most beautiful, incredibly strong woman, mommy, that I've ever known. You're a mom. You're a mommy to that beautiful little boy. So you know what I say? I say today let's focus on Mommy. Let's focus on you. Let's focus on getting rid of that cancer. Ok? Deal?
Amanda: Deal. Just don't let go.
Jake: Never.
Angie: The room is quaint. What else?
Jesse: Lots of pillows, big old comfortable bed.
Angie: You're kidding me.
Jesse: Yeah. And I think we should put this nice big comfortable bed to use. What do you think?
Angie: Why? You want to take a nap?
Jesse: That's funny. I was thinking something a little more aerobic.
Angie: A-ha! So you want to have a pillow fight.
Jesse: A pillow fight will work as long as we're naked.
Angie: Ha ha!
Jesse: I'm sorry. Keep going. Back it up. There we go. Who's gonna start?
[Knock on door]
Jesse: I didn't hear that.
Angie: But you know what, it might be housekeeping.
Jesse: You know, unless they're bringing a "Do Not Disturb" sign, I don't want any. This is ridiculous.
Ryan: What are you doing here?
Angie: Ryan?
Jesse: Did he just ask me that?
Kendall: Ok, I'm very confused. Where is David?
Ryan: He's probably someplace laughing his ass off.
David: No, don't go in, not yet. Greenlee was looking for answers. Let her find them. Trust me, the husband's been taken care of. Ryan's not gonna be stopping by anytime soon. Soon as I find Dixie, I'll be in touch.
Man: Has Amanda Martin been admitted yet?
Woman: No, not yet.
Zach: Not another step.
Greenlee: I'm not sure who you think I am, but your father isn't here, Zach. As hard as he tried, he couldn't take you down. You beat him, just like you beat David. You're free.
Zach: Free?
Greenlee: Yes, because you're capable of something those two could only dream of. You love with everything you are. Just ask Kendall and Spike and Ian. Hold onto that. Take strength from it.
Zach: Love. You're here.
Greenlee: I'm here.
Zach: Kendall.
Cara: Hi. Well, aren't you gonna introduce me? I'm Cara.
Dixie: Hi. Dixie.
Cara: It's really nice to meet you.
Jake: Where is everybody? This is ridiculous. We need to get you --
Amanda: I'm sure the nurse will be here in a minute.
Jake: But we need to get you prepped also for the surgery.
Amanda: Honey?
Jake: What?
Amanda: Today you're my husband, remember?
Jake: Right, yeah, sorry. I did say that, didn't I?
Amanda: Do you think that I have time to go talk to my mom?
Jake: If that's what you want to do, you should do that, sure. I'll go with you.
Amanda: Actually, I think I should go do it myself. You know, she was so great last time we talked to her. Even if she is back to the way she was, if I can handle a hysterectomy, I can handle anything.
Jake: Ok, you got it. Of course.
Amanda: Ok.
Jake: Bye.
Amanda: I won't be long.
Jake: Ok.
Griffin: Hey.
Jake: Hey.
Griffin: How's she doing?
Jake: My wife is spectacular. I used to tell everybody -- well, anybody who would listen to me, but I don't think I really knew until right this second. I think it's true what people say. You don't know what you got until it's -- gone.
Griffin: Amanda's not going anywhere.
Jake: Yeah, I know. I'm just making sure of that.
Kendall: But it says that David is here.
Jesse: Do you see the man?
Ryan: Angie, you were with Hayward today, right?
Angie: Yes, why?
Ryan: Do you mind if I look through your purse?
Angie: No, it's right over on the table.
Jesse: What are we doing?
Jesse: You gotta be kidding me.
Angie: What is it?
Ryan: It's a GPS tracking device I put in Hayward's phone, and he must have pawned it off on you.
Jesse: Hold on just a second. You want to tell me why you're tracking the guy? Ok, that's never a good sign.
Ryan: Greenlee is missing.
Angie: For how long?
Ryan: Not long enough to file a missing person's report, but I'm sure that Hayward has got her.
Jesse: So you didn't think that maybe you should, I don't know, fill me in on this?
Kendall: It's not like we have proof.
Ryan: It's big, Jesse. Hayward has already admitted to illegal experimental medical practices on people like Greenlee and --
Angie: People like me.
Ryan: Yes, your name was mentioned. I'm sorry, guys, to burst in here and dump all this on you.
Jesse: Well, it's done now. Pull up a seat and sit down. Get comfortable. Let's start from the beginning.
Zach: Kendall.
Greenlee: Zach, it's me -- Greenlee. I'm not Kendall.
Zach: I don't know my own wife?
Greenlee: I know you need Kendall, and I'm gonna take you --
Zach: Stop, stop. I know you're trying to protect me, Kendall, but there's --
Greenlee: All I want is to get us out of here, that's all.
Zach: I wasn't there, and I will never forgive myself for that. But it's now my turn to protect you. We'll figure it out, Kendall. We'll be ok. We'll figure it out.
Greenlee: Yes, you will figure it out, you and Kendall, together. But first, we have to get away from David.
Zach: David?
Greenlee: Yes. He's been keeping you here away from --
Zach: Where are the boys? Are they with you? Are they ok?
Greenlee: Spike and Ian are fine.
Zach: For now they're fine. These guys, they're not going away. They're coming back, and they're coming after our family.
Greenlee: Just take it easy, ok?
Zach: We gotta get out of here before it's too late.
Jesse: David Hayward thinks that he can bring people back from the dead?
Ryan: We are way past the thinking stage here. He's literally doing it. He's doing it with people like Greenlee, with Dixie Martin.
Jesse: Dixie Martin. What the hell are you talking about?
Ryan: She is alive, Jesse.
Jesse: What?
Angie: When Cara said it might be a possibility --
Jesse: When Cara said -- are you -- does nobody feel the necessity to clue me in on anything anymore at all?
Angie: I didn't think it was true, Jesse. Why would I?
Jesse: Do you believe all this?
Kendall: I do believe that Dixie is alive, yes. I also believe that David is capable of anything.
Ryan: Yes, he is, which is why Greenlee could be in serious trouble right now.
Angie: Maybe not. Listen, the way David talks about her, I can't explain it, but I feel it in my heart he won't hurt her.
Ryan: But you don't know that.
Angie: Maybe I do. David is a wounded man, and I'm well aware that makes him do harm, but it also makes him do good.
Jesse: Baby, listen, I know you are banking on the man restoring your sight --
Angie: I am banking on it, because he will if you all will just back off and work with him, not against him. You know, help bring out the best in David.
Ryan: Maybe if David was somebody that we could even trust remotely, then -- will you help me out here a little bit, please? Kendall?
Kendall: Angie has a point.
Janet: This is just so wrong. I should be taking care of my little girl today, not the other way around.
Amanda: I'm not a little girl anymore.
Janet: No, you're not. You are a beautiful, brave, extraordinary woman in spite of me.
Amanda: That's not true. I am who I am because of you.
Janet: I don't know how you can say that after all the horrific stunts I've pulled.
Amanda: Because they taught me what kind of wife and mother I didn't want to be. But do you want to know what else you've taught me? That there's hope.
Janet: Really?
Amanda: Look at us. Talking, smiling. This is something I thought we'd never have again.
Janet: It's all I ever wanted, Mandy.
Amanda: And to see you open up to Jake, it meant so much to me to see you accept him and maybe even like him?
Janet: Maybe. But just a little.
Amanda: I'll take it.
Janet: I put you through hell and back. And still -- you love me?
Amanda: You're my mom.
Janet: You're gonna kick this surgery's backside, Mandy, come out stronger than ever.
Amanda: I hope you're right.
Janet: Oh, I am. A mother knows these things. I just want you to remember that wherever I end up, my heart will always be with you, and I am just so grateful. I'm so grateful that I get to be here, now.
Amanda: Mom, I'm scared.
Janet: Come here. Honey. It's ok.
Griffin: I know I'm probably the last person you expected to be here, but I want you to know that after the surgery's a success, the beers are on me.
Jake: Good. Then we'll be having a lot of beers. I just wish that Amanda had more friends, 'cause she could really use a friend right about now.
Griffin: Cara wanted to be here. I told her I'd sub in.
Jake: Yeah, Cara and Tad. They're going away. Good for them.
Griffin: Yeah, that trip's been put on hold.
Jake: Really? Why is that?
Griffin: I don't really know where to start.
Jake: Well, nutshell it.
Griffin: David Hayward.
Cara: I can't imagine how strange this must be for you.
Dixie: For you, too. One thing is for certain. Tad has excellent taste in women.
Cara: You seem very kind and gracious.
Dixie: How'd you think I'd be?
Cara: I don't know.
Dixie: Tad and I have a very long history, and not all of it has been easy, and that's mostly my fault. I just want you to know, I'm not gonna cause him any more pain.
Tad: Dixie --
Dixie: No, it's ok. You know, I'm thirsty. I think I'm gonna get a little water.
Tad: I'll get it for you.
Dixie: No, it's ok, really. I know where the kitchen is. Talk.
Tad: So how was your day? I don't know what to say.
Cara: Wow! That's -- that's definitely a first.
Tad: No, I'm serious. I was dying. I was phoning you over and over again. I was texting you. I just wanted to make sure you heard it from me.
Cara: It's ok. Don't worry about it. She's so lovely. I do get all the hype now.
Tad: Don't do that.
Cara: What?
Tad: Pretend that anything that's going on right now is remotely normal.
Cara: Since when have we been normal, hmm?
Tad: You know what -- Dixie isn't the only person around here that's wonderful.
Jake: Hi.
Nurse: Hi. The anesthesiologist is with her right now, but you can go in in a minute.
Jake: Ok, thank you.
Nurse: Ok.
Jake: Thank you.
[Monitor beeping]
Jake: My God, you're beautiful.
Amanda: You said that at our wedding, first thing when I got down the aisle.
Jake: It's funny you bring that up, 'cause I was just thinking about our vows. I was actually thinking about the -- can I share? I was thinking about how couples talk, in their vows, talk about for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, and you never really think you're gonna be at that other part, the bad part of that, but here we are. I just want you to know that I am right here, and I'm not going anywhere. Ok?
Amanda: I love you.
Kendall: Deny it all you want, but Angie's right. For every life that David has hurt, there's also a life he's saved -- mine, my son's. And I do believe in his own twisted way, that David does really love Greenlee.
Angie: You see what I'm talking about, Jesse?
Ryan: We're talking about the same man that let your mother stay kidnapped.
Kendall: I'm not saying that he doesn't have Greenlee, Ryan. I'm just saying that he won't hurt her.
Ryan: Well, I can't take your word on that. Are those?
Jesse: Yeah. From Dr. Doom himself.
Ryan: Do you mind if I take a look?
Angie: What for?
Jesse: To trace Hayward.
Angie: Help yourself.
Ryan: Hayward's wild goose chase may have just backfired in his face.
Greenlee: Listen, you can't bulldoze your way out of here. It's bolted shut.
Zach: Kendall, we've gotta try --
Greenlee: Greenlee.
Zach: I'm sorry.
Greenlee: For what?
Zach: I don't blame you for wanting to be somebody else. I don't. I've put you in danger, always have. And now here we are, and I don't --
[Metal clattering]
Zach: What do I call you? Do I call you Greenlee?
Greenlee: Ok, ok. Ok. Stop talking like that. You're the best husband. And I don't blame you for anything, ok? Just calm down.
Zach: For you --
Greenlee: For us. Just stop. Listen to me. I've never stopped loving you, Zach.
Zach: Kendall.
Tad: Just because Dixie's back doesn't mean that anything has changed between you and me.
Cara: Can we just talk about this later? Really?
Tad: No. Listen to me. You have to know -- what you are, how important you are to me. We just need time. Just a little time.
Cara: Ok.
David: So what's the verdict? Does he love you? Or love you not?
Nurse: They're ready for her in O.R. 3.
Jake: Thank you.
Amanda: Jake.
Jake: Yeah, I'm right here. Same place I'll be when you wake up, ok? Ok. Thanks.
Jesse: That was some great romantic plan, huh? Bring you here to forget all about David Hayward, and somehow he manages to take front and center again. But I tell you, his days of hurting people are over. Once we get the goods on him this time --
Angie: You'll be happy. And Ryan will be happy, but guess what. I'll still be blind. I'm not the only one who's going to suffer. He's no saint, far from it, but David's work can help people, save people. I believe that, Jesse.
Jesse: I believe he belongs behind bars.
Ryan: Hayward's not in his room. There's no word from the pharmaceutical company about Angie's eye drops.
Kendall: We will find David and Greenlee.
Ryan: I'm telling you this honestly. I swear, if Hayward even breathes on her the wrong way -- but of course, you wouldn't do that, right, because he's one of the good guys.
Kendall: You know, I didn't say that, Ryan. I didn't.
Ryan: I'm just trying to figure this out. This doesn't make sense, and not just your 180 on Hayward. If he really is running around performing miracles in town, why is it so hard for you to believe that Zach could possibly be part of it?
Griffin: Any word on Greenlee?
Ryan: No, we thought we had a lead, but it turns out it was Hayward playing mind games.
Kendall: I keep trying to tell him that David would never hurt her.
Griffin: Oh, wow. Just when I stopped believing, you start. Our timing really sucks, doesn't it?
Greenlee: We have what other people can only dream about. We have a second chance. At life, at love. To lose that and then have it all back again?
Zach: No.
Greenlee: What do you mean no?
Zach: You're not safe with me, never were. When this is all over, Kendall, I'm gonna let you go. We're done.
