J.R.: You and Scott. I get it. He's safe.
Marissa: No, J.R., I am not playing it safe.
J.R.: After all the pain that you've been through, of course, you'd be afraid to take a chance with me.
Marissa: No, damn it. I am not afraid.
J.R.: No one would blame you for not taking a risk. But I'm the one that you want.
Marissa: No, you're not. I don't want you, and I don't want Scott. I want Bianca.
J.R.: Bianca?
Marissa: I'm sorry that I just blurted it out like that. I know this must be a surprise.
J.R.: Yeah, considering you're straight, and she's a woman. Yeah, you could say that.
Marissa: It's not something that I ever planned or even ever expected.
J.R.: Ok, all right, you know, what is this?
Marissa: What do you mean?
J.R.: Is this your way of getting back at me?
Marissa: For what?
J.R.: For using Bianca to win you back.
Marissa: No, J.R.
J.R.: What's going on? Are you on Team Scott now?
Bianca: I don't know what's going on.
J.R.: You don't know what's going on. Well, then, I guess you owe us both some answers.
[Phone ringing]
Ryan: Damn it!
Greenlee: Ah, still nothing on Project Orpheus, I presume.
Ryan: No, I got something here. It's a children's orphanage that David is involved in, because he just loves to give back.
Greenlee: Did you confront him?
Ryan: Yeah, I confronted him. He had a file on the kids right there. It just magically appeared on his desk.
Greenlee: Is that the place?
Ryan: Yep. It's even got David listed as the donor.
Greenlee: You don't buy it.
Ryan: No, I don't buy it. I definitely think it's a cover-up, just for what I don't know. I can tell you, this key card that I found in his office has nothing to do -- nothing with orphan children.
Greenlee: You never showed me what it looked like.
Kendall: This was a really good idea. Much better than dinner.
Griffin: Yeah?
Kendall: Yeah, we don't have any waiter interrupting us or anybody talking loud at the table next to us. It's just you and me and the perfect chance to talk.
Griffin: Oh. Ok.
Kendall: What? What?
Griffin: It's just my experience, when a woman wants to talk, it usually means I should be wearing my helmet.
Kendall: Oh. Come on. What's wrong with me wanting to get to know you a little better?
Griffin: What are you talking about? I've been an open book with you.
Kendall: Oh, yeah, more like a mystery novel maybe.
Griffin: I have not been a mystery novel.
Kendall: Ok, yeah. You're just oozing personal details all over the place.
Griffin: Wow, ok, all right. What do you want to know?
Kendall: Anything. Everything.
Griffin: I've pretty much covered all the basics. Cara got sick. My dad bailed, and that's my childhood right there in a nutshell.
Kendall: And then what?
Griffin: Then it was off to medical school. Doctors Without Borders, a couple stops along the way, and -- poof! I'm right here.
Kendall: Like magic.
Griffin: Like magic. But better.
Kendall: You think pretty highly of yourself, don't you?
Griffin: There you go. Another factoid right there.
Kendall: What happened in between? In the middle? Tell me about the basics. Come on! Dig deep. You can do it.
Griffin: I don't know what else you want me to tell you. I did some postgrad research before DWB.
Kendall: In what?
Griffin: Nothing, just boring medical stuff.
Kendall: It's not boring if it's important to you.
Griffin: You hungry? I am still gonna get you that hot dog. Let's go.
Kendall: You are not getting off that easily.
Griffin: You can't blame a guy for trying.
Kendall: Come on. Everybody has their deep, dark secrets from the past. What's yours?
[Knock on door]
David: I thought we were meeting later.
Jane: I couldn't wait.
David: Ok, wait. Hold on for a second.
Jane: No. Ha ha! You have only yourself to blame for this, David. You have created a monster.
Opal: Jackson. Jackson, come in.
Jack: Thanks, Opal.
Opal: I got the spread all laid out.
Jack: All that? Just for me?
Opal: Well --
Jack: For an army maybe.
Opal: It's a lot. That's true, but I have had a lot of time on my hands since --
Jack: You miss Erica.
Opal: I feel like we just got her back, and I already lost her again.
David: Ok, ok, ok.
Jane: Ow!
David: Excuse me.
Jane: Where are you going?
David: Jane, you gotta start thinking with your head, ok, not with your newly awakened libido. You gotta get ahold of yourself.
Jane: But I don't understand. You asked me to come over here.
David: Yes, I did, but later. I've got an appointment.
Jane: An appointment? With whom?
David: With the hospital board.
Jane: Since when is the hospital board more important than me?
David: Since they can make the difference between our success and our failure.
Jane: I thought you already won them over to our side.
David: Yes, I did. I did. But keeping them there takes work, all right? Especially with J.R. and the Martins constantly going after me. So I need to make sure that all the key members are getting what they want.
Jane: And what about what I want? Doesn't that matter anymore?
David: Of course, it matters.
Jane: Well, then, give it to me, David.
David: Listen, Jane, I appreciate your passion. I do. Ok?
Jane: You appreciate my passion? Don't talk to me like I'm some kind of a business peon. You did this to me. Before I met you, I had only one goal in mind, and that was to lose myself completely in the fabulous life of Erica Kane. But now I need you. And make no mistake, I will have you.
David: You know, Jane, you need to be careful. That's starting to sound like a threat.
Jane: Well, maybe it is. Just maybe it is, because let's face it, one word from me and your plans are just blown sky-high, aren't they? No hospital, no medical license, no career.
David: Really? Really?
Jane: Yeah, really.
David: And what about you, Jane? Take a look at yourself. You can forget all that -- the beauty, the adoration, the fame, the fortune, all right? You'll be back to plain Jane so fast, your head would spin, not to mention what would happen to Kendall. So forget freedom. Say hello to prison.
Jane: So what? I don't care about Kendall. She's not my daughter. I don't care about Erica's family and Erica's friends. All I care about now is you.
Ryan: Do you recognize that?
Greenlee: No, I don't know.
Ryan: You had some kind of reaction to it.
Greenlee: It came out of nowhere like a shiver down my spine.
Ryan: But you don't remember ever seeing it before? Maybe when you were married to Hayward or right after the accident?
Greenlee: Wouldn't it have hit me when you first told me about it? Seeing this picture really threw me. I just can't tell you why.
Griffin: I hate to disappoint you, but there are no skeletons in my closet, Kendall.
Kendall: Oh, boring.
Griffin: We can't all be as layered as Kendall Slater is.
Kendall: Layered. I think that word has been used to describe me before.
Griffin: Maybe I can make up something to even out the playing field. Let's see -- yes, I once injected a patient with peacock collagen. Every time she got angry, she would shake her ass like this.
Kendall: Why did you just get all weird?
Griffin: What are you talking about?
Kendall: You stopped looking at me, and then you got all fidgety and -- what is making you so uncomfortable?
Griffin: Nothing.
Kendall: Really? So you're not hiding anything from me?
Griffin: Except for the fact that I don't know if peacocks have collagen or not?
Kendall: I'm serious, Griff.
Griffin: So am I. Why are we being so serious?
Kendall: I don't know. I just feel like you're not being honest with me. I want you to know, you can tell me anything.
Griffin: I know.
Kendall: That's it? That's all I get?
Griffin: Honestly, I don't know what you want me to say.
Kendall: Ok, now you sound like Zach. Sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean --
Griffin: Don't worry about it.
Kendall: I don't mean to compare the two of you. I don't sit around and do that.
Griffin: Kendall, it's ok. It's ok.
Kendall: No, maybe I should just go.
Griffin: Right now?
Kendall: Yeah, I mean, I have things to do anyway, and I'm sure you're busy, so --
Griffin: Well, I cleared my schedule.
Kendall: Well, you can unclear it. I'm sorry. I think I should just go home.
Griffin: Then let's get you home.
Marissa: I know this seems crazy. I've barely processed it myself.
J.R.: Maybe because there's nothing to process. That's just a guess.
Bianca: Is J.R. right? Are you angry? Is that why you're saying all this?
Marissa: I'm saying it, because I can't not say it anymore.
J.R.: All right, you're wasting your time trying to mess with my head. It's not gonna work.
Marissa: No, that is not --
J.R.: I'm sorry, ok? I am sorry. I should never have pretended those ideas were mine, but you gotta be able to see I was just trying to make you happy. You can't honestly want to punish me because of that.
Marissa: No, this isn't about punishing you. It's not about you at all.
Bianca: Are you serious? You want me? Us?
J.R.: No, she's not serious! News flash here! Marissa likes men. Go on. Tell her. Tell her before this gets out of control.
Marissa: All I can tell her is the truth. I'm falling in love with you.
J.R.: Let's just -- back up for a second here.
Marissa: When you first told me how you felt --
J.R.: How you felt?
Marissa: I was totally thrown. I was terrified. It forced me to acknowledge something that I've been trying so hard to push down.
J.R.: Wait a second. You told Marissa you had a thing for her?
Bianca: Yes.
J.R.: Yeah? And you've known about this for a while? Do you know how messed up that sounds? I mean, you were supposed to be -- I mean, basically, you were gonna be my wingman. Right? Helping me get presents and suggestions and the tools to win her back. But the whole time, it's because you had feelings for her. Wait a minute. When you guys came back from that trip, that's when Bianca spilled her guts to you. You were so freaked out, you ran to my bed. Answer me! Did you have sex with me, because you were scared of the alternative?
Marissa: You're right, I did.
J.R.: Yes!
Greenlee: Where are you going?
Ryan: I'm gonna go talk to Griffin.
Greenlee: Again?
Ryan: Yeah. I have to at least try, right? He's been around Hayward longer than any of us, so I'll give it a shot.
Greenlee: Good luck.
Ryan: Ok. What's your day look like?
Greenlee: Oh, a little of this, a little of that.
Ryan: Greenlee.
Greenlee: Yeah?
Ryan: What are you up to?
Greenlee: I overheard David and Erica talking about a little rendezvous at his hotel room later. Thought it couldn't hurt to check it out.
Ryan: What happened to the conversation about you not poking the hornet's nest?
Greenlee: I'll be sure to wear my beekeeper's getup. Are you satisfied?
Ryan: Do I have a choice?
Greenlee: Not really.
Ryan: Be careful.
Greenlee: Always.
Ryan: Love you.
Greenlee: I love you.
Ryan: Hey, about that beekeeper's --
Greenlee: Get your mind out of the gutter, Lavery.
Ryan: Ok.
Jane: I know I've made some extreme choices, but underneath all this, I'm a human being. I can't help the way I feel.
David: I'm not asking you to. But you're right.
Jane: I am?
David: Yeah. Yeah, meeting with the board shouldn't take priority, not over you.
Jane: Then why --
David: I guess I'm just not used to this kind of fire.
Jane: Oh, come on. Erica Kane is made of fire.
David: Maybe in business, yes. With family. But romantically? Erica never displayed this kind of raw desire before.
Jane: Do you like it?
David: I love it. So why don't we forget the hospital, all right? Forget Kendall. Let's worry about reality later. 'Cause right now, all I want is this.
J.R.: You're taking advantage of Marissa.
Marissa: I'm sorry? Taking advantage?
J.R.: Yeah, I hurt you. So you've been scared and confused ever since.
Marissa: Is that really how you see me?
J.R.: You're missing the point. Bianca saw her opportunity, so she took it. She got you to believe that you have feelings for her just to stick it to me.
Bianca: You're wrong.
Marissa: And for the record, I can think for myself.
J.R.: I know that you can think for yourself. I didn't mean that.
Bianca: We get that you're pissed, that you're shocked. We get it. I never intended to hurt you, J.R.
J.R.: Oh, I don't buy that for a second. If you were a man, I'd break you!
Kendall: I don't know why you took me home.
Griffin: I'm pretty sure that's what a guy does after a date.
Kendall: Oh, ok, so that's what it was. I thought it was more of a disaster.
Griffin: Ouch.
Kendall: Because of me, not you.
Griffin: I had a nice time.
Kendall: Oh, really?
Griffin: Mm-hmm.
Kendall: So it's fun for you when I bring up my deceased husband?
Griffin: It doesn't bother me.
Kendall: I don't even know why I did it. First we're talking, and I'm trying to get to know you better, and then there he was. Griff, you came back for me, put your heart on the line, and I know that wasn't easy. And how do I thank you?
Griffin: Hey. We both agreed to take things slow, not just for the hell of it. We both came to this with baggage.
Kendall: At least you didn't bring yours on our walk.
Griffin: When did Zach die?
Kendall: What?
Griffin: You heard me.
Kendall: November 18th.
Griffin: The love of your life died less than a year ago. It's no wonder he's still front and center, especially now.
Kendall: Now?
Griffin: Moving on. It's hard. Not that I think I'm the one that you're moving on with.
Kendall: Would you shut up, Griffin? Stop. Thank you for being so sweet and incredibly patient and -- and for that.
Griffin: We'll talk later. Ok?
Kendall: Yeah.
Jack: Mmm! Opal, that's sinful.
Opal: Yeah. Well, here you go. Try this. It's just what Palmer used to say. Damn, I sure wish he was here now. If anybody could knock some sense into Erica --
Jack: Yeah, he did always have a way with words in that regard, didn't he?
Opal: You think I'm just going bonkers over nothing here?
Jack: No. No, I don't. I think Erica has been much different since her kidnapping.
Opal: She's the best girlfriend I ever had. I don't even care that it's usually -- ok, always -- all about her.
Jack: Always.
Opal: I don't even give a hoot. I'd happily listen to her yammer on all day long about herself. It's how much I love her.
Jane: There are no words in the English language to say what that was.
David: Yeah, it was nice.
Jane: Especially not that word. Were you -- that I was? David?
[Alarm sounds]
David: Damn it!
Jane: What is that? Is it a fire?
David: I'm not sure. It's probably just a false alarm, but we need to get dressed now.
[Alarm continues]
Greenlee: Oops.
[Alarm stops]
Greenlee: I can't believe I told him to fight for you. You remember my father, right? The guy who put that rock on your finger? The guy who's been nothing but patient with your crazy-town ass?
Jane: How dare you speak to me that way.
Greenlee: I'll speak to you any way I want, you lying, cheating, manipulative --
David: All right, Greenlee --
Greenlee: Don't get me started on you.
Jane: Let me know when you get rid of her.
[Door slams]
David: Oh, you know, for someone who claims to have no interest in my personal life, you sure spend a lot of time snooping around.
Greenlee: "Personal"? But I thought it was all business with Erica.
David: What can I say? Sometimes the lines get blurred.
Greenlee: Or in your case, blatantly ignored.
David: Look, you want to ruin your father's life, go right ahead. Tell him what you saw here today. Break the man's heart. But for the record, it's just sex.
Greenlee: Are you serious? Like that makes it remotely better.
David: I'm just saying this is no sweeping love affair. I'll leave all the romance to Jack. Scout's honor.
Greenlee: While you mess around with his fiancée on the side? You're disgusting.
David: Erica Kane is a hard woman to resist. Even your father would give me that.
Greenlee: Let me give you this. [Slap]
Jack: Look, Opal, the last thing I want to do is live a life without Erica. More and more it seems like maybe it's what I have to do.
Opal: Oh, no!
[Cell phone rings]
Jack: Hold this for me, please.
[Ringing]
Jack: Hey, Greenlee, what's up? What?
Opal: Boy, this doesn't sound good.
Marissa: All Bianca did was be honest with her feelings. It's my fault that I couldn't do the same. If you're gonna be mad at somebody, be mad at me.
J.R.: I don't want to be mad. I want our life back.
Marissa: [Sighs] I know. I thought I did, too.
J.R.: For A.J.'s sake.
Marissa: Yeah, but for me, too. I was searching for something. A new start, I guess. And you were being so wonderful, I thought that new start was with you. But I realize now that turning to you was just me running away.
J.R.: I don't understand. Have you always been attracted to women? Have you ever --
Marissa: No. No. It's as new to me as it is to you. But it is happening. And I lied before. I'm not falling in love with you. I'm already there. And yeah, I just said that out loud. I can't promise to always know what I'm doing or that I won't step backward when I'm trying to move forward, but I really want to see where this goes.
[Cell phone rings]
Bianca: Just hold on for a second. Kendall, wh -- wait. Slow down. What? Yeah, I'll be right there. Worst timing ever. It's a family emergency. I have to go.
Marissa: Is everything ok?
Bianca: I don't know. I heard everything you said. I will call you.
Marissa: Do you want to talk about --
J.R.: There's nothing to talk about. You made yourself perfectly clear.
Marissa: At least somebody thinks so. I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you.
J.R.: I've been kicked in the teeth before -- but at least I saw it coming.
Ryan: Can I grab you for a second? It has to do with Project Orpheus.
Griffin: I told you I don't know anything about it.
Ryan: I know that, but there's been a new development. I went to see Hayward, and I asked him point blank what this was about.
Griffin: And?
Ryan: He says it's a children's orphanage that he's involved with.
Griffin: You don't believe him.
Ryan: No. I don't believe him. Are you kidding me? Not even for a second.
Griffin: Why do you have the feeling that there's so much trouble here?
Ryan: Look, when I showed Greenlee the photo of the keycard that I found in Hayward's office, she had a very, very bizarre reaction, like maybe she'd seen it someplace before.
Griffin: Any idea from where?
Ryan: No, but maybe from when they were married, or maybe when he was supposedly nursing her back to health. She saw something or she overheard something. Maybe both. I'm thinking maybe it's some kind of medical project. And knowing Hayward, it's gotta be illegal, ok? I realize I'm not giving you much to go on here, but I need your help.
Griffin: I'll see what I can dig up.
Ryan: Thank you. I appreciate it.
Griffin: We'll be in touch.
Ryan: Ok.
Jane: So were you able to get through to her?
David: I don't know. An armed Greenlee is a dangerous Greenlee. And this is a serious bomb.
Jane: Yeah, but to devastate her own father like that --
David: That's what I tried to tell her. Whether or not she listens --
Jane: David, I want to make something clear. I don't regret being with you.
David: Neither do I.
Jane: But things are really out of control now, because Erica would never cheat on Jack, especially not with you.
David: Thanks.
Jane: You know what I mean.
David: Listen to me. If Greenlee divulges what she saw here today, this is all you have to say. We acted on impulse, for old times' sake. We weren't thinking. It just happened. Things like that. Blame it on the post-traumatic stress of the kidnapping.
Jane: But you know that my feelings for you have nothing to do with stress. This is real.
David: As real as it gets, but you need to stay focused. Don't lose sight of your goal.
[Cell phone rings]
Jane: Oh, Kendall.
David: You should answer it. You don't want to raise suspicions. Go ahead.
Jane: Hi, sweetheart.
Kendall: Thank God you picked up. I need you to come over right now.
Jane: Is something wrong?
Kendall: A lawsuit's been filed against the Miranda Center. It's a complete and utter disaster, Mom, and Bianca's on her way. So can you please just get here as soon as you can?
Jane: All right, of course. I'll be right there.
Kendall: She fell for it.
Marissa: We should probably sit down with A.J., tell him what's going on. He's gonna be so disappointed.
J.R.: Whose fault is that?
Marissa: It's mine. I will tell him myself if you would like.
J.R.: I'll tell him. He's just a little boy, right? He'll bounce back.
Marissa: And you?
J.R.: I'll live. On the bright side, at least we weren't married. We'd have to go through another divorce.
Marissa: I know you were hoping.
J.R.: You made your choice. Marissa, doesn't matter if it was Scott or if it was Bianca or the mailman. Bottom line is, it just wasn't me.
Marissa: I'm sorry.
J.R.: Get out of here.
Marissa: J.R. --
J.R.: I said get the hell out!
Frankie: What's this?
Ryan: A signed consent from Greenlee.
Frankie: Greenlee wants all medical records David kept on her?
Ryan: From all the way back when he was first caring for her.
Frankie: After her accident?
Ryan: Yes.
Frankie: This should definitely be going through the proper channels.
Ryan: Yes, I realize that, but it can't.
Frankie: Why?
Ryan: Because then Hayward would find out about it.
David: No, I'm sorry. Something came up. Of course, it was important.
[Knock on door]
David: As if I'd miss a meeting with my favorite board members if it wasn't. So when can we reschedule? Perfect. All right. I'll see you then.
Griffin: We got a problem.
David: Regarding?
Griffin: Orpheus.
Jane: I want details. Who filed this lawsuit? And against the Miranda Center? What reason could there be for that?
Kendall: There is none.
Jane: What?
Kendall: There is no lawsuit, Mom.
Jane: Then I don't understand. Why am I here?
Bianca: We're here to talk about you.
[Rattling]
Jane: Oh, this must be a joke.
Bianca: It's not a joke.
Jane: You mean you tricked me?
Kendall: We didn't know how else to get you to talk to us.
Jane: This isn't it.
Bianca: Then you don't need to say anything. All you have to do is listen.
Jane: What the hell is going on?
Kendall: Come on, mom, don't act so surprised. This isn't the first time this has happened to you.
Bianca: This is your intervention.
Ryan: No, I will definitely take care of it myself. I'll be by the office as soon as possible, ok? Thanks, Carol. I guess this means that you can't help me out, which is ok, because I knew it was a bit of a long shot.
Frankie: Well, I'm the least of your problems.
Ryan: What do you mean by that?
Frankie: Greenlee's medical records? All of them wiped clean from the hospital's database.
Jane: You think I'm gonna stand still for this, you're out of your minds. What are you doing?
Jack: Keeping you from making a huge mistake, we hope. And we are going to do this, Erica, right now.
Jane: The last thing I need is an intervention.
Jack: Really? Because your behavior of late absolutely screams for one.
Jane: I don't know why you say that. I am certainly not drinking. I am not popping pills.
Greenlee: No. What you're doing is much worse.
Bianca: Much worse.
Jane: And what would that be? Living my life on my own terms?
Opal: Or could they be somebody else's?
Jane: I am really just so sorry that nobody in here approves of my making my own choices, but you know what, they're my choices. I'm fine!
Kendall: Mother, you are anything but fine. You are in trouble. You are in serious, no-turning-back trouble.
Jane: Am I anything but lucid? Give me a drug test. I will pass with flying colors.
Kendall: I wish it were that easy, but what we're dealing with is far more addictive. David Hayward.
Griffin: Ryan knows that the orphanage is just a cover.
David: All right. As long as he doesn't know what for, it's not a problem.
Griffin: He's not giving up, Dr. H.
David: Listen, Lavery is an imbecile, ok? He's not gonna figure out the truth.
Griffin: Greenlee might.
David: You said that Lavery's the one that's been talking to you.
Griffin: He is, but she's starting to remember.
David: Remember what?
Griffin: A feeling or something, something related to Orpheus.
David: Specifics. What exactly did Lavery say to you?
Griffin: I don't know. Just when she saw the logo, she got spooked. She said it felt familiar, but she didn't know why.
David: Oh, man. This is not good. They're getting too close.
Griffin: Ryan thinks I can help him out because of our history. I told him that I would keep my ear to the ground. I don't know how long I can keep him at bay.
David: I can't let them interfere with this, not now. I've put too much of my life into all of this. If they only knew all I've done.
