Marissa: Is something wrong? Did I do something to upset you?
Bianca: No. No, you've done nothing wrong. You're great. You're amazing. My best friend, right? And it's nothing earth-shattering or terrible or anything, and I certainly don't expect anything to come from it, but I just want you to know -- that I'm attracted to you.
Amanda's voice: You can stop selling, J.R. I'm in. Ok? This didn't happen. We did not have sex -- at least that's what I'll keep telling myself, anyway.
J.R.: Amanda? I just wanted to say thank you for meeting me about that P.R. situation that we had.
Amanda: Yeah, it needed to be solved.
J.R.: And it was.
Jake: J.R., I just want to say that what happened between you and my wife -- it's never gonna happen again.
Cara: Hi!
Tad: Hey.
Cara: Oh, those are beautiful.
Tad: Yeah? [Sneezes]
Cara: Oh. Salud. Oh, Lord. They're like the ones from the walk, aren't they? Are you ok?
Tad: Yeah, yeah. No, I'm fine. I just -- you loved them so much the first time, I thought they were worth a --
Cara: Thanks.
Tad: A curtain call.
Cara: Thank you.
[Tad sneezes]
Cara: Oh! That was -- I'm gonna go ahead and take these away from you. Yeah. Oh, the box. Yes, the box. I was downstairs, and I was organizing, and you know how I like to do that -- to clear my head. Yeah. I obsess that way, and I came across that. It's a little wet on the -- I think something's damaged in there.
Tad: Oh, that's fine. I'll take a look. Probably nothing.
Tad: Let's see. Ahem. Survey says --
Cara: Are you ok?
Tad: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. No, I'm just -- it's a blast from the past. It belonged to J.R. when he was a baby.
Cara: Hola, Solita.
Kathy: It's Kathycita.
Cara: It is, but it's also Solita, and you know what that means? "Sunshine."
Kathy: That's what my daddy calls me.
Tad: I certainly do.
Cara: It's probably because your mom's favorite song is "You Are My Sunshine," right?
Kathy: I know all the words. Daddy taught me.
Tad: Yeah. You actually managed to stay on key.
Kathy: Those flowers are beautiful.
Tad: See? Huh?
Cara: No. Don't get too close. I have an idea here.
Tad: What are you doing? Uh-oh.
Cara: Que linda. Beautiful.
Tad: Yeah. Come here, linda. Let's take a look, shall we? Look at you. Come here. Check it out. What do you think?
Cara: You like it?
Kathy: I love it. And I think my mommy would like you.
Tad: Oh, yes. [Sneezes]
Kathy: God bless you.
Cara: You know what? Come on. Let's get these into your room, all right?
Kathy: Yay!
Cara: Yay. Yes, out of here, away from your father. Oh. What is the verdict on the box, by the way?
Tad: This is all J.R.'s stuff from when he was a baby. Considering what tomorrow is, I think it would be interesting to take all his stuff over and drop it off at his house.
Cara: Ok. Just wait. Wait, wait. Just don't take too long, because I got something special planned for us tonight. So --
Tad: Intriguing. Could I have a hint?
Cara: Hint? Ohh. It's something we faked before, but this time it's for real.
Amanda: What are you doing?
Jake: I'm just making sure that he understands that as of right now, you are unavailable.
Amanda: I work for him.
Jake: Yeah, but he gave you a couple days off, right? And you're not really getting any time off if he throws work in front of you all the time, and you are not really getting to have your staycation with your son and your husband. I'm just saying I think she deserves a little relaxation, a little downtime.
J.R.: She does deserve it. And I'm sorry that I interfered with your plans.
Amanda: No, it's all right.
Jake: Ok. All right. I'm not trying to make any trouble. I think you deserve to have some time, and you're supposed to get it. And -- look, you're on a vacation. I am your cruise director -- in fact, that's my swabby right there. And your little swabby and myself, we have a few little things that we have to take care of. So give us a head start. Is that all right?
Amanda: Ok.
Jake: Ok. And then I'll see you at home.
Amanda: Ok.
Jake: Come on, little one. Come on. All right. We'll see you at home.
Amanda: Ok. Bye, guys.
Jake: Grab the stuff, all right?
Amanda: All right.
J.R.: When Jake just stopped me, I thought you decided to go all honest with him about our little mistake.
Amanda: You make it sound like it was no big deal.
J.R.: It's not, as long as you don't tell Jake.
Amanda: I told you I wouldn't.
J.R.: All right. Then cheer up. You'll get what you want. You got your family.
Amanda: I know that's what you want, too, your family back together, and I hope you get that.
Marissa: Are you kidding me?
Bianca: No. No. I felt like this for a while.
Marissa: Oh, you're serious?
Bianca: I just wanted you to know.
Marissa: Oh. Well, thank you for telling me.
Bianca: Yeah, the more I didn't tell you, the more I was pulling away, and I thought that would create some kind of weird energy, and you'd think something was wrong.
Marissa: No, and there's nothing wrong about the way you feel.
Bianca: It kind of came out of nowhere. I mean, we're friends, best friends, and that is all I wanted, and then all these other feelings started bubbling up. Oh, God, it feels so good just to have it out there.
Marissa: Yeah. I mean, being honest with each other is why our friendship works. I mean, I think it's great that you felt you could be so open with me, even if --
Bianca: Nothing can come of it. I know. I hope you're not sorry I told you.
Marissa: Oh, of course not.
Tad: Hey.
J.R.: Hey. This is a nice surprise. Come on in.
Tad: I know I'm a day early, but I wanted to wish you a happy birthday.
J.R.: Minimalistic wrapping: I like it.
Tad: Yeah, I think the water damage makes a particular statement. Have a look. It's some stuff of yours from when you were little. I wanted to take you on a walk down memory lane, see if you wanted some of it. Maybe you should pass some of it on to A.J.
J.R.: Remember when you taught me how to use this?
Tad: Absolutely. I had to pull your video game out of the wall to do it -- and replace every window in the kitchen afterwards.
J.R.: Yeah.
Tad: Here's the special friend of yours. You remember this guy?
J.R.: Bae.
Tad: Bae. Remember why you called him that? Because you were too little to pronounce "baby." You carried that little guy everywhere. Everywhere.
J.R.: Yeah, it certainly looks like it.
Tad: Yeah. I remember your mother used to pretend to feed him with a bottle to tease you. Then she'd sing to it and tuck it into bed, and you lit up like a Christmas tree every single time.
J.R.: I can't believe you remember all this.
Tad: I'll never forget it -- hopefully. Anyway, there's some toys in here, games, even some clothes Dixie sewed for you.
J.R.: You're giving me all this right now. Is there any particular reason?
Tad: Yeah. I wanted to wish you happy birthday.
J.R.: Is that it? Or are you moving on?
Opal: Here we are, my little man. I'm so happy to have you --
Cara: Trevor.
Opal: Oh, my Lord! You're gonna scare the living daylights out of this poor child. Here. You sit down right here, my love bug, and take this. There. That'll give you something to keep you company, huh?
Cara: Jake and Amanda are busy, huh?
Opal: They will be, yeah. He's planning something real special for her back at the loft tonight.
Cara: That's nice.
Opal: You really mean that?
Cara: Yes, yes. I want them to be happy.
Opal: That is what I want for everybody in this clan. I know that your marriage to Tad is in name only --
Cara: I -- I told you that the last thing that I want to do is hurt Tad.
Opal: There's not hurting Tad, and there's making Tad happy in a certain kind of way.
Cara: I want to make him happy. That's why I am planning something special for the both of us this evening.
Opal: You are?
Cara: Yes! That's why I need to get ready in a hurry, because the last thing I want him to do is walk in here and see me like this.
Opal: Even those slippers -- they don't exactly say, "Come hither." So -- but if you need any expert advice, I am all yours.
Cara: Oh, no. I think I got it covered.
Opal: I was the Glamorama guru. I was always way ahead of the times. Nobody knows about beauty like I do -- or mud. You better get that thing off now or you're gonna need a crowbar, girl. Get out of here. Heh heh heh!
Jake: Ah! Ow. [Grumbles]
Amanda: What's going on?
Jake: Right here, right now, I plan to make up to you anything I've ever done that would make you doubt my love for you, and I'm gonna start with this.
Marissa: Why would I be sorry you told me?
Bianca: Because it feels really good for me to get it out, but I -- I don't know. Maybe you feel awkward.
Marissa: No. No. I -- I'm actually flattered. I just -- I'm not -- I mean, I'm --
Bianca: Straight. I know.
Marissa: I mean, if I sent mixed messages or some kind of signal --
Bianca: There's not really a signal. There's no lesbian bat sign floating above Gotham City.
Marissa: I know. I'm sorry. Of course, there's no signal. I knew that. I'm just saying if there's anything I did to let you think that I might --
Bianca: It's ok, Marissa. I understand.
Marissa: Right. Not that you aren't totally lovable -- and I do love you, but not in that way. I mean, I've just -- I've never felt that way about any woman. I mean, I just like men.
Bianca: J.R.
Marissa: Right. Not J.R. -- right now, yes, J.R., but -- ahem -- but there have been others, so -- like Scott.
Bianca: I remember.
Marissa: I'm talking too much, aren't I?
Bianca: It's ok.
Marissa: I just don't want you to be hurt.
Bianca: Because you're not gay? I already knew that. I didn't expect you to fall into my arms. I just wanted to say it, to say it out loud and tell you, and now that I have, I can move on.
Marissa: Great.
Bianca: So we're good?
Marissa: Mm-hmm. Absolutely. I think one of the kids just got up.
Bianca: I didn't hear anything.
Marissa: Yeah, but I should check on them anyway. We did promise them a swim.
Bianca: I hope I didn't make you feel uncomfortable.
Marissa: No, no. Not at all. I'm glad you told me. Really.
Woman: And here you go. If you guys need anything, my name is Gloria. Enjoy.
Bianca: Oh, this is a great spot. Does everyone have sunscreen on?
Miranda and Gaby: Yeah!
Marissa: Ok, here, A.J. You get a little bit more on your nose.
Miranda: I'm glad you guys came. Now we get to play with A.J., and Mommy has you.
Marissa: Yes. Um, all right, guys, it is time to go swimming. So go ahead, but just don't run. And swim in the shallow end, ok?
Bianca: Where we can see you, ok? All right. Watch her. Oh, this is the best, isn't it?
Marissa: Mm-hmm. A.J. is having a great time.
Bianca: Yeah. My meeting is over. The kids are happy. Oh, the sun is warm. Does it get any better than this?
Marissa: Mm-hmm. It's perfect.
Bianca: Are you gonna take off your cover-up and lay back?
Marissa: Yes. Yes. I'm gonna do that right now. Ahem.
Bianca: Oh, we should do this again with the kids before school starts.
Marissa: That would be great, yeah. Ahem.
Bianca: I could help you with that.
Marissa: You know what? Actually, I think it's -- I think I've had enough sun. It's actually getting a little chilly. The breeze is kind of cold. Just put this back on.
Bianca: Ok, it's happening, isn't it?
Marissa: What?
Bianca: I told you how I feel, and now you feel uncomfortable.
Marissa: No, no, I don't. I -- I changed my mind about the sun.
Bianca: You're not looking me in the eye.
Marissa: That is not true.
Bianca: Ok, you're looking somewhere over my left shoulder.
Marissa: No, I'm not.
Bianca: You want to be anywhere but here with me, don't you?
Tad: It's a de facto birthday present, ok? Don't make a big deal out of it, all right? I have plenty of kiddy stuff at home. I thought there's nothing wrong with a little house cleaning.
J.R.: Yeah, you sure that's all?
Tad: What else would it be?
J.R.: Cara. Ah. So there is something? Nice hair, by the way.
Tad: Ok. I admit it. There's a little something. Hands off the hair, ok? It was traumatizing getting here.
J.R.: I hope so, because no one deserves it more than you.
Tad: That means a lot. How's things between you and Marissa?
J.R.: Oh, things were going great, and then I screwed things up. I pushed, and she wasn't ready.
Tad: I mean, it's not a done deal, right? It's flexible?
J.R.: It's getting there. You know I do this every time -- I push too hard. I hold on too hard.
Tad: Yeah, but for a reason. Give yourself a little bit of a break. There is a reason that you grab onto things and hold on for dear life -- because you're afraid you're gonna lose them. J.R., you've already lost so many people that you love. You lost your mother and Stuart. You nearly lost A.J. and there's a reason that you hang on for dear life.
J.R.: Sometimes I hold on too tight.
Tad: Well, you might try having a little more faith in the universe, believing that happiness will come your way if you don't push so hard to make it happen.
J.R.: You sound like Mom.
Tad: Fine. I'll take that as a compliment. Because from the day you were old enough to carry Bae around, all she wanted for you was for you to be happy.
J.R.: I've been thinking about her a lot.
Tad: Yeah?
J.R.: Maybe because tomorrow is my birthday. I wish she could be here.
Tad: Lord, so do I. Hmm. She is. She's close -- always was, always will be -- in spirit.
Dixie: Hello, sweetheart. I'm your mama. No! No! You give him to me!
Man: Just take it easy.
Adam: I will take him because I'm his father.
Dixie: No, he's not. I'm not --
Man: He has a court order.
Dixie: I don't care! You give him to me!
Officer: Ma'am.
Dixie: Give him to me! Get away from me!
Man: Don't get stupid, Martin!
Tad: I swear to you on my life and on that baby's life that I'm gonna get back. And when I do, no one -- not even Adam Chandler -- is gonna be able to take him from you.
Dixie: This is the happiest day of my life.
Tad: You've got one more coming.
Dixie: I do?
Tad: Go ahead, torture me -- our wedding?
Dixie's voice: I know, I know.
Jake: Whew!
Amanda: How -- what is all this?
Jake: This is a -- this is a pirate cove.
Amanda: Where's Trevor?
Jake: Trevor is -- ah! Our son, yes. He's with Opal. And it's just you and me and Polly. Raa! Shh. What do you think?
Amanda: I -- I think it's great.
Jake: You maybe aren't remembering our first date where you were wearing a -- but I don't forget any of this. It's all -- how you felt and how you smelled and how you looked -- it's all in here. And it's all in my heart, and I just wanted to show you how much I love you. That's all I want to do.
[Amanda sobs]
Marissa: I'm exactly where I want to be. I practically invited myself along.
Bianca: That was before I made that big, fat announcement.
Marissa: I'm glad to be here.
Bianca: Ok, you're trying to be polite, so you don't hurt my feeling, but you're trying not to smile, so I don't get the wrong idea.
Marissa: Everything is fine.
Bianca: Ok, look, I was honest with you about my feelings, and I need you to be honest with me about yours. Ok, whatever you feel, whatever you want to say, I can take it. Ok? I swear.
Marissa: Ok, yeah. Yeah. I mean, my best friend tells me that she likes me that way, it's a lot to process. But, again, I'm glad that you told me.
Bianca: Honestly?
Marissa: Yes. Yes. We have been through so much together -- everything that happened with Ricky Torres, and then your divorce, my relationship with J.R. I have never been closer to anybody. So, yeah, this news makes me spin a little bit. But I'm glad that we have the kind of relationship that makes it ok for us to say anything.
Bianca: So it's not gonna change things between us?
Marissa: You can put sunblock on my back anytime. You know, I jumped on this vacation. I forgot that J.R.'s birthday is tomorrow.
Bianca: Do you want to be with him?
A.J.: Mom, catch!
Marissa: Oh, whoa!
A.J.: I'll get it!
Marissa: Um -- I just hate for him to spend his birthday alone.
Bianca: If you want to go home --
A.J.: I don't want to go.
Marissa: Of course, you don't want to go home. Here. You look like you're freezing. Go take this back to the girls, all right?
A.J.: Ok.
Marissa: Ok.
Bianca: If you want to go home and be with J.R., you should.
Marissa: Are you sure?
Bianca: Yeah.
Marissa: I don't know. I mean, A.J. already has this big weekend planned with his dad. He's having so much fun. I hate to take him home.
Bianca: You don't have to. He can stay.
Marissa: Are you sure it won't be a problem? 3 kids, 2 hands?
Bianca: Of course not. No. The girls love him, and we're having so much fun. It's just a short trip.
Marissa: Ok. Thank you so much for being so understanding. And I am glad that you got to get your feelings out in the open. You are so great, and I love you -- you know, just --
Bianca: Not in that way. I know.
Marissa: Right. Hey, A.J.? I'm gonna go home for your dad's birthday, but since you're having so much fun, you can stay here. Ok?
A.J.: Yay!
Miranda and Gabrielle: Yay!
Marissa: Ok. You give me a call if anything happens with him?
Bianca: I will.
Marissa: Ok. And thanks again for everything. Ok.
Bianca: Bye.
Marissa: Ok. Bye.
Bianca: Bye.
Opal: You didn't need any help from me. He is gonna be head over --
Tad: I'm gonna be head over heels about what?
Opal: You're home.
Tad: God, I hope so. What's going on?
Opal: Um, well, never would my lips spoil the surprise.
Cara: Hey.
Tad: Hey.
Cara: What do you think?
Jake: Baby, why the tears? Was this too much? I did too much. I did too much.
Amanda: No, I'm -- it's great. I'm so sorry.
Jake: No, you have nothing to be sorry about. This is supposed to be about love, and this is supposed to be about us, and I want to just make you happy. That's all I'm trying to do.
Amanda: I don't deserve it.
Jake: You do. You do deserve this. You deserve the whole kit and ca-booty. You see what I did there? I made a joke, and we're in terrible pain. I shouldn't be joking, but I just want you to laugh. I just want you to --
Amanda: You're so good.
Jake: No, I'm not. I'm not good. I'm good at screwing things up. I've screwed things up since Cara got to town, and I'm sorry. And I put you through hell, and I made you doubt our marriage and me and my love for you, and I'm sorry. I just want to see you happy, and when I see you unhappy like this, it makes me want to walk the plank. I would walk the plank, but we don't have one, and that's very inconvenient right now. If I had one --
Amanda: I love you.
Jake: I love you. You know why? Because you are the most beautiful, loving, passionate, beautiful wife any man could ever ask for.
Amanda: Just please stop.
Jake: I can't stop. I'm on a roll. I'm not gonna stop till I convince you that you are the only woman on this planet for me, the woman that I want to spend the rest of my life with. So I'm gonna kiss you in this ridiculous, ridiculous pirate costume until you understand. I'm gonna kiss you, kiss your face, till you get it -- that I am completely committed to you, to our son, and to the rest of our family. Ok?
Amanda: "The rest"?
Jake: Yeah. Yeah. I've decided. I think we should have a few more little pirates running around.
Amanda: You're saying --
Jake: Yeah, I'm saying we should have a baby. I'm into it. I want to have a baby with you. I'll have a whole little crew of them.
Amanda: You said you wanted to wait, that the timing was all wrong.
Jake: No, I am saying that I think I have been the one that's been wrong.
Amanda: This isn't the way that I want to have another baby -- you trying to prove something to me, trying to fix something that's wrong.
Jake: Yeah, I know. And here I'm thinking that my beautiful costume was gonna fix everything or that Polly was gonna talk, but I get nothing from the bird. Nothing. I say drop all of this, and we just go right to making love.
Amanda: I really think that we should think about this until you're really ready.
Jake: I'm ready. I've never been more ready.
Tad: You look --
Cara: Is it overdone? It's too much, isn't it? I'm gonna go change.
Tad: No, no, no! No. Wrong. Stop, please. I just -- the hard drive froze a little bit.
Cara: You're processing.
Tad: You -- wow. You're fun to look at. Uh, what's the occasion?
Cara: It's a date with my husband. That's the occasion.
Tad: A date? You mean like the date -- a date? Like the thing we had to fake the first time --
Cara: Exactly.
Tad: Thank you, God. I just was -- I'm all for that. I just want to say that I don't want you to feel compelled to do anything you don't want. Believe me, I'll take a fake date over a mercy one.
Cara: Ok, you know what? Here's the deal. All right? The other night when we were watching the sunset, when we were hanging out and, you know --
Tad: In the park, yeah.
Cara: Yeah. And we were laughing and doing our thing, and I thought, "You know what? This is my present." I really don't know what the future is gonna hold, but I do know I want to keep walking forward, and it would be really great if you would be there next to me. Anyway, is this a date? Yes, it is. It's a full date. It is not a mercy date. Unless you have a problem with your wife taking you out to dinner?
Tad: Actually, I do.
J.R.: Hey, it's me. I know I told you to take off and have a great time, but I miss you. I wish you and A.J. were here.
Marissa: Would you settle for one of us?
Bianca: What's up?
Miranda: Will you come in the pool with us?
Bianca: That sounds like a fantabulous idea. But you know what? I only go in the pool one way. Do you guys want to do it with me?
Kids: Yeah!
Bianca: Let's line up. Come on. Come here. Ok, are you guys ready?
Miranda: Yes.
Bianca: I didn't hear you. Are you ready?
Kids: Yeah!
Bianca: Ok, are you sure? Ok, are you double, triple, super sure?
Kids: Yeah!
Bianca: Yeah! Ok, ready? 1, 2, 3!
J.R.: You came back alone.
Marissa: Tomorrow is your birthday.
J.R.: Yeah, I'm a big boy. I spent my birthday alone more than once.
Marissa: I missed you.
J.R.: I missed you, too.
Marissa: Good. I'm really happy to hear you say that, because all the way home, all I could think about was you.
Jake: I think you've been swashed and buckled. Ha ha ha!
Amanda: Definitely swashed.
Jake: We both were swashed and buckled, and I think we did it. I think -- I think we did it.
Amanda: We definitely did it.
Jake: Oh, yeah. No, I think that we made ourselves a little pirate, or a little pirate princess, even.
Amanda: Honey, it doesn't always happen that quickly.
Jake: No, I know. But I just got -- it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. All right?
Amanda: Yeah, but I was so sure last time.
Jake: I know, but that was last time, and I got a feeling.
Amanda: All right. You hold onto that feeling.
Jake: It's my feeling.
Amanda: I'm gonna go get some water.
Jake: Ok. I could get the water.
Amanda: You stay. I got it.
Jake: Really? I'm kind of thinking after what I'm looking at, maybe you should stay. You like getting swashed and buckled?
Amanda: I'll be right back. Aah.
Jake: You all right?
Amanda: Yeah. Uh, yeah. I'm fine. I'm fine.
Jake: Ok. Whew!
Cara: No, it's not.
Tad: Really?
Cara: Yes. You clean real nice, by the way.
Tad: Really?
Cara: Yes. I'm glad that's the only problem you have with your wife taking you out to dinner.
Tad: I had to make up for your gorgeousness. Please, for you. Please.
Cara: Thank you. Such a gentleman.
Tad: Can't help it. Manners come with the suit.
Cara: I ordered ahead.
Tad: I can tell. You ordered well.
Cara: Thank you. I figured dinner and a bottle of champagne doesn't make up for you giving up three years of your life to marry a woman who ticked off a drug lord and Immigration.
Tad: Yeah, you say it like it's a bad thing. Correct me if I'm wrong. On our first faux date, I don't think I got to make a toast. So I propose that I'm allowed to make one now. Ok?
Cara: Ok, yeah.
Tad: So what do you say we bend the elbow to being an old married couple?
Cara: All right.
Tad: How long have we been married, anyway?
Cara: Actually, it's been 3 months, 2 weeks, and 5 days.
Tad: To my wife, the genius. To our 3-month, 2-week, and 5-day anniversary.
Cara: And to many more.
Tad's voice: You want to do the honors?
Dixie's voice: No, you do it. You do it for the both of us.
Tad: I wish for another year with my family, my wonderful family, of love, hope, and forgiveness. If life ever comes crashing through our front door, I hope we hang onto each other tight and remember what brought us back together will keep us that way -- forever.
