Colby: Uh --
Maya: Someone's going a little stir-cray.
Colby: Yeah. Help me out before he rocks out for good.
Jesse: Hey.
Angie: Hey, baby.
Jesse: You seem pretty calm.
Angie: Huh?
Jesse: Erica teaming up with David Hayward to buy this hospital, your hospital? I walk in, and you're just calmly doing paperwork? That's news, big news -- bad news. I mean, really, what could be more important right now?
Angie: Getting my sight back.
Ryan: I hear congratulations are in order.
David: Wow. That's very big of you, Ryan. Surprisingly civil.
Ryan: Yes. While we're playing nice, why don't you tell me why Erica would buy this hospital with you as her partner.
David: Some people know a good deal when they see one.
Ryan: Or you made her an offer that she couldn't refuse.
David: Now, Ryan, you and I both know that no one -- not even me at my very best --
Ryan: Or worst could get Erica to do something that she doesn't want to do. So how'd you get her to do it?
Madison: Women today understand that they need to do everything they can to protect their unborn babies.
Madison's voice: Oh!
Ryan: What? What is it?
Madison: I don't know. I think maybe the baby just kicked for the first time. Oh, my God, Ryan.
Ryan: Oh, my God.
Madison: And they need to be educated on the ingredients -- My baby.
Scott's voice: Wow.
Madison: Baby girl North. Oh, I'm never gonna forget this day. The ingredients that might harm their growing babies --
Madison's voice: Don't you dare say it. Go out and come back in and tell me everything's fine. Tell me that our baby's ok. Ryan, please.
Ryan: They tried. They -- they really tried.
Greenlee: Madison? Madison?
Ryan: We lost her.
Madison's voice: No. Please tell me that's not true. How am I supposed to say good-bye? They're gonna bury my daughter, my baby, my Sara, and they're gonna put dirt on top of her. I can't watch. I can't.
Madison's voice: You will always be with me, sweet girl. Always.
Randi: The buyers.
Greenlee: Now that Madison has wowed you with the product, I'm gonna talk about profit. You're probably all asking yourselves, "How can we use all-organic, expensive ingredients and still meet our price points?"
Randi: Madison, where are you going?
Griffin: You just left without saying a word. Why?
Kendall: Because of you.
Griffin: What did I say that scared you off?
Kendall: I -- I just needed to get away. We were talking about everything that happened to me -- me losing Zach and getting Ricky back for what he did to my husband, and then my sister and the boys.
Griffin: It's a lot to handle.
Kendall: Yeah. And I think that somewhere during that whole time, I was either running from or chasing something, and I just forgot how to catch my breath. Does that make any sense?
Griffin: Sure.
Kendall: Anyway, I wanted to be here. It's a beautiful day, and I'm not stuck in the past or running towards the future. I'm just right here in the moment.
Griffin: So what do you want to do, now that you're here in this moment, and you've stopped running?
Kendall: Race you. I want to race you, I do, from here to that tree right there.
Griffin: Right, because that makes sense. Anyways, I caught you once already.
Kendall: Oh, but that -- that was with heels on. Yeah, yeah, that was with heels on. Can you hold that for me? Thank you. Ok, on your mark, get set, go!
Asher: What's up?
Colby: You need some help?
Asher: No.
Maya: You need to get out of the house. It's perfect outside. You know, outside -- the place that's not inside?
Asher: Oh. I've heard about that place. Unfortunately, I don't really have two legs that work.
Colby: I know you've been laid up and out of the loop, but there is this invention, and it's called the car. Yeah. So let's go get some sun, and, Maya, you're taking the day off work.
Maya: I am?
Colby: Yeah, with pay.
Maya: I can't. I have a job interview during my lunch break.
Colby: You're leaving us?
Maya: No, no. I just need to pick up some extra cash, that's all.
Colby: Wait. What are you doing?
Asher: All right, if you're gonna insist on dragging me outside, you might need to help me, because I'm in a lot of pain.
Colby: Ok. Whatever works for you. Is this -- how's this?
Asher: I'm feeling better already.
Greenlee: Some stores have few, if any, organic choices. Madison has already shown you these figures.
Randi: Are you ok?
Madison: I'm fine. I'm just really, really tired. Greenlee was right.
Randi: About what?
Madison: It was too soon for me to come back to work.
Randi: Hey, you were doing great with that pitch.
Madison: Yeah, until I lost it. But Greenlee's got it now.
Randi: Let me get my keys. I'll drive you home.
Madison: No. I got to get out of here. Look, I'm fine, really.
Jesse: So these papers are from Hayward, huh?
Angie: Yeah. His treatment plan to get me to see again. But unless you've learned to read Braille, since I saw you at breakfast this morning, I think you're wasting your time.
Jesse: With David Hayward, you want as many eyes as possible on this.
Angie: Yeah, I'm already having them translated, so that Frankie can look them over.
Jesse: So what does this say?
Angie: I've just skimmed. But what I've read so far, it has my interest.
Jesse: So you really want to go through with this, with this guy?
Angie: I've put my hands on our daughter's face and tried to read it, to feel if she's happy or sad, asleep or awake, wondering if she's staring into my eyes, not understanding this blindness, instead of that spark of recognition a mother has for her child.
Jesse: Are you kidding me? Lucy knows that you love her. She sees it.
Angie: I want to see it.
Jesse: Baby, what about all the specialists that we went to see, said it can't be done?
Angie: You mean like everybody who said our baby being born the way she was -- healthy and strong -- was next to impossible? And we made that happen, didn't we? And remember, when I get my sight back, it'll mean one more person to keep an eye on David.
Ryan: I heard your phone call, Hayward.
David: Ok. So I was thanking Erica for her going the extra mile to get the deal done.
Ryan: Your exact words were "now we are even," which implies payback, right? Her buying the hospital was payback, and I'm just asking you for what.
David: That would be between me and my partner.
Ryan: Then I guess I'll just have to ask your partner, won't I?
David: Why are all of you having such a hard time believing that Erica and I can have a common interest?
Ryan: Which is?
David: To make Pine Valley Hospital the best medical facility on the East Coast, bar none. All right. You know what? I'm having a hard time understanding why this concerns you. After all, this isn't about you, Ryan. You do understand that, don't you?
Ryan: But it might have something to do with Greenlee, which would make it about me. You knew you'd stick it to Greenlee by buying this place back, right, knowing full well that she would've never sold it to you to begin with.
David: Greenlee got a nice, big, fat check for her troubles. She's free to tear it up anytime she wants.
Ryan: I know you, Hayward. And I know that this is just one move in a much bigger game plan, and it does involve Greenlee, doesn't it?
David: My house, my rules. May the best man win, Ryan.
Ryan: Erica, it's Ryan. Just call me as soon as you get this, please. I want to know what the hell is going on with Hayward.
Angie: You remember that nightmare I had last week when I thought Lucy was gone?
Jesse: Yeah.
Angie: I made you get up and turn on the light to make sure that our Lucy was still there. I can't do that. To me, it's always dark. To me, the fear of my Lucy being gone will be there as long as I can't see for myself that she's ok. Baby, tell me you understand that.
[Phone rings]
Jesse: Hubbard. Right. Right, right, right.
Angie: You have to go?
Jesse: I do.
Angie: You didn't answer me.
Jesse: Baby, you know if there was any way I could give you my eyes, I would.
Angie: I'd rather you keep them so when I get my sight back, I can look into them.
Greenlee: I'll leave you with this last image. A baby reaches out her little hand to take one of her mother's fingers. In that simple touch, there is a magical connection that goes beyond words. That touch is the most natural thing in the world, and we're gonna keep it that way with no chemicals, no additives, and no perfumes. When a baby and its mother touch, two come together as one with a power that is immeasurable. And it's no coincidence that concept also happens to be the definition of Fusion, the name we chose for our company. This product furthers our vision. Thank you very much for your time.
Randi: That was phenomenal, especially the part about a mother's touch.
Greenlee: Yeah, that was Madison's. I was working from her notes. How is she?
Randi: Exhausted. She said you thought it was too early for her to come back to work.
Greenlee: I told her to take all the time she needs to get right.
Randi: She lost a baby, Greenlee. You don't ever get right with something like that.
Greenlee: I know. I'm trying to be as supportive as I can to Madison, but everyone's gonna read what they want into it anyway. Her leave is paid, by the way.
Randi: I didn't say --
Greenlee: Go home and be with her. It's what's best for the company. I need all my employees focused.
Randi: You're the boss.
Jack: You're having a bad day?
Greenlee: Yeah.
Jack: I surely hope it's nothing that can't be fixed with some cotton candy.
Kendall: Ah! Ha ha ha! Whoo! Ok! Ok, don't touch me! Whaa! Madison? That's Madison. Griffin, something's wrong.
Asher: The Yacht Club?
Colby: Yeah. I knew if you knew you were coming to the club, you wouldn't have gotten in the car.
Asher: That's true.
Colby: Do you want to know something really funny?
Asher: What?
Colby: I crashed my daddy's yacht, and then all I wanted to do was party, and then the next, I just wanted to sail away.
Asher: Heh!
Colby: What?
Asher: Where would you sail away to?
Colby: Anywhere but here. I just always wondered what was beyond that horizon.
Asher: Probably just more of the same, I guess.
Colby: Yeah. You can't get away from yourself, right?
Asher: Come on. Why would you want to, huh?
Colby: Wow! I don't think I've ever seen this place this empty.
Asher: Yeah. Looks like they're setting up for something.
Colby: Yeah. Stefan? Hi.
Stefan: Yes?
Colby: Colby.
Stefan: Miss Chandler. What can I do for you?
Colby: Is there, like, an event going on here tonight?
Stefan: It's a graduation party. They'll be bringing in chairs, tables, and decorations shortly.
Colby: Is it ok if we just hang out here on the terrace until it starts?
Stefan: I don't see why not.
Colby: Thanks. Oh, the benefits of being a charter member.
Asher: Huh. "Benefits?"
Colby: Mm-hmm.
Asher: We're in an empty room.
Colby: Yes, we are in an empty room. But with a little bit of music --
[Music plays]
Colby: It's a party. [Stomps foot]
Jack: So I'm walking through the park, and I see this father buying some cotton candy for his daughter, and I thought of you. So what do you think? Blue or pink?
Greenlee: Heh! Pink, of course.
Jack: So what's going on? You want to talk about it or --
Greenlee: Guess who's being selfish again.
Jack: Ah.
Greenlee: And Ryan called me on it -- and you don't have to say it. I understand what he and Madison are going through. Believe me, I understand their loss.
Jack: Then I'll say this instead. It's kind of tough for you not to be painted the villain in all of this.
Greenlee: Exactly.
Jack: You and Ryan have lost a lot, too. You can't get back the time that you were apart.
Greenlee: And I want every minute that he has. Is that so wrong?
Jack: When you were a little girl, you were cheated out of a lot of things that most little girls get to take for granted.
Greenlee: Yeah. So what are you saying?
Jack: I'm saying I think that little girl still lives inside of you, and she's afraid that what she has is going to be taken away.
Jesse: You said on the phone it was urgent.
Ryan: I'm guessing you and I are in the same mood for the same reason.
Jesse: Hayward.
Ryan: David using Erica to buy his way back into the hospital, Jesse? That just doesn't add up. There's got to be more.
Jesse: At the press conference, Erica didn't seem like a front. She seemed like she was all for it. See, Hayward is messing with my wife again.
Ryan: What's he doing to Angie?
Jesse: He told her he could cure her, make her see again.
Ryan: I mean, can he do that?
Jesse: Angela believes that he can -- or starting to believe that he can.
Ryan: But you're afraid that he's promising a miracle, and he won't be able to deliver on it.
Jesse: I will not see her hurt.
Ryan: Jesse, I just saw Hayward, ok, and I don't know what he's up to, but I do know that his move at the hospital is not is last play. So if he's working Angie, I think he's working a much bigger agenda.
Angie: Your father is still somewhat reticent about my putting myself in David's hands.
Frankie: You can't blame him for that.
Angie: I want to see my baby. I want to see all my babies.
[Footsteps]
Frankie: Maya.
Maya: Hi, Dr. Hubbard.
Angie: Hi, Maya.
Maya: Hi.
Frankie: So you two are gonna talk about Maya babysitting for Lucy? I think she's a perfect fit.
Angie: Frankie has good instincts, especially when it comes to people. I already have a wonderful nanny, and family and friends have been great about pitching in. But I'm getting ready to start a new treatment plan, so I could use another set of hands.
Maya: You have a little girl, right?
Angie: Lucy, my angel. Do you have any experience with babies?
David: Angie. Hi. I see you have the treatment plan. Is now a good time to go over it?
Angie: Uh, Maya, I'm sorry. Do you mind if we finish this another time?
Maya: No worries.
David: Frankie, you're welcome to sit in if you'd like.
Frankie: I'll do more than sit.
David: Really?
Angie: You know what? This is just preliminary. I'll meet with David alone.
Frankie: You're sure?
Angie: It's all right. I'm good.
Frankie: Better than good: The best. Don't think I'm not on top of this, David.
David: So what do you say we get started?
Angie: I need you to understand one thing first. I want my sight back, but I am not willing to give up my soul to get it.
Griffin: Madison, wake up. Wake up. Right here. Right here.
Kendall: I thought that you were at Fusion doing the presentation.
Madison: I am -- I was.
Kendall: Ok, what happened?
Griffin: Listen, your heart is racing. Let me take you to the hospital. I'm gonna get you checked out.
Madison: No. No more hospital. I'm not going back there.
Griffin: Whoa! All right. Would help me get her to the hospital?
Kendall: She doesn't want to go back.
Griffin: I understand that, but she needs to get checked out. She's in really bad shape.
Kendall: Griffin, please, is there something that you can do for her here or someplace else? Please, Griffin. Madison shouldn't have to wake up at the place where she lost her baby.
Asher: Check this one out.
[Rock music plays]
Colby: That is what I'm talking about.
Asher: What? You know this band?
Colby: Of course, I do. If you want me I'll be there what I have is yours to share I'll only talk to you, babe and that ain't fair I never thought that I would care we both know it's getting hot now, honey so just admit the truth oh, it's you and me we're just two stupid kids in love and you know, you know I need you like a drug I give a little, but it might not be enough not for me, 'cause it ain't free do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do do-do-do, yeah
Frankie: You all right?
Maya: Yeah. Why?
Frankie: My mom is blind, but I'm not. I saw the look on your face when she brought up the baby.
Maya: I just can't work for your mom.
Frankie: Hmm. Still pretty raw, huh?
Maya: I know that I gave my baby up by choice, and I know she's with a good family. She has to be.
Frankie: Of course, she is. You did what you thought was best for your child. That makes you a good parent. My wife Randi and I, we lost a child -- miscarriage.
Maya: I didn't know about that. I'm sorry.
Frankie: Yeah, the thing that got her through was being around other babies, seeing life goes on.
Maya: I know, but --
Frankie: And Lucy? She's a great girl. And babies? They have a way of working their healing magic on you.
Maya: I just can't tell you yes or no right now, ok? I need to get back to my job. Excuse me.
Jack: When I saw that father and his little girl, I found myself grieving for the moments that we lost when you were a kid. But then I remembered that the past is called the past, because it is indeed past. Nothing can be done about that, and you're in my life now, and that's all that matters. So eminent lawyer Jackson Montgomery, officer of the court, took a chance on looking very foolish and bought a couple of cotton candies and walked them through the park, and, boy, did I get some odd looks -- the oddest look from a judge I'm going to be arguing a case in front of next week. But you know what? I don't care, because I got to have this moment with my daughter.
Greenlee: You make a hell of an argument. So you're saying let go of everything that's happened and make now count.
Jack: Yes. Exactly. And stop being afraid that you're going to lose everything you have.
Jesse: You believe he blackmailed Erica into buying the hospital?
Ryan: You see, I keep coming back to Erica's kidnapping.
Jesse: That case has hit a brick wall. We've been working really closely with the Feds. Nothing. Still nothing.
Ryan: What I'm about to say is gonna be a little bit of a jump.
Jesse: Jump.
Ryan: What if Hayward had something to do with Erica going missing?
David: I'm not after your soul, Angie.
Angie: If you restore my sight, you're not doing it out of the goodness of that thing beating in your chest that passes for a heart. So what do you want?
David: After I give you back your vision, I want you back on staff, of course.
Angie: When I ran this place, you wanted me gone yesterday.
David: You're right. I wasn't a fan as an administrator. But as a physician, you're a valuable asset. Hey, if you don't want this, I will still sleep fine at night.
Angie: That's not what I said.
David: I'm sure you have Jesse and Frankie and Jake and Tad and heaven knows who else whispering in your ear, telling you that all I want to do is pull the wool over your eyes.
Angie: Now, there's a bad choice of words.
David: No, not really. Because if you keep listening to your friends and family, listening is all you're ever gonna be able to do. You'll be able to hear your beautiful daughter's voice, but you will never see her face.
[Angie smacks David]
Colby: You and me, we're just two stupid kids in love and you know, you know I need you like a drug I give a little, but it might not be enough not for me, 'cause it ain't free yeah do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do you do do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do do-do-do, yeah, no, no, oh yeah, oh, no, no, no. I'm sorry if that was really painful for you.
Asher: Are you kidding? You have an amazing voice.
Colby: Uh-huh. Yeah, right -- for emptying an entire room.
Asher: No, I'm serious. You could be a rock star, Colby.
Colby: Enough. No, no, no. Enough.
Asher: All right, look. Come on. Stop putting yourself down in front of me, all right? When I tell you that you have an amazing voice, you do -- among other things -- a lot of things.
David: Nice aim. I guess it's right what they say about the senses. You lose one, the other four sharpen to compensate.
Angie: You may have a complex, but don't you dare play God with me and my daughter.
David: You want bedside manner, Angie? Then go to another doctor named Martin. With me, you're gonna get it like it is.
Angie: You are not a nice person, David.
David: You know something? On that, we can agree. In most instances, I'm only out for myself. I push limits, and if anyone gets in my way, they're probably gonna get hurt. I don't have the time nor the inclination to play nice. As far as I'm concerned, it's wasted energy that's better applied to making people like you see again.
Angie: Why should I trust you?
David: Don't! All right? If you think that treating you is in my best interest -- which it is -- then I guess you're just gonna have to take that leap of faith.
Angie: And what if that leap leads to a fall?
David: Then consider yourself lucky. At least you won't see the ground coming when it hits you. Let me know what you decide.
Ryan: The only people that knew the exact time and location of Erica's wedding were family and friends.
Jesse: So somebody snatches the bride, they bring her back to the States, they hold her for a few weeks without even a ransom demand?
Ryan: Right. That's not very typical.
Jesse: No, it's not at all. Kidnappers usually are only interested in money.
Ryan: But then Erica somehow gets a message out to Jackson --
Jesse: That leads him to the quarry --
Ryan: And an explosion, right? From the explosion, only Erica gets pulled out of the rubble.
Jesse: No kidnappers, dead or alive.
Ryan: When Greenlee drove her motorcycle off the cliff, she came back a year later.
Jesse: A resurrection attributed to Hayward.
Ryan: Right. What if that motorcycle accident wasn't exactly an accident?
Jesse: And you think he had something to do with it, right?
Ryan: He just happened to be there to rescue her? The fact that he had her, he gained control over Greenlee, and he used that control to rebuild his entire life, Jesse.
Jesse: So you see a pattern?
Ryan: Don't you?
Jesse: I see the possibility of a pattern.
Ryan: David is at a low point again. He can't practice medicine right now. He's got no professional life at all.
Jesse: And his personal life has always been a train wreck.
Ryan: So to get back on track, he takes Erica, and he somehow gets control over her.
Jesse: But how the hell did he accomplish that?
Madison: Ooh. How did I --
Griffin: I carried you here.
Kendall: You fainted in the park.
Griffin: When was the last time you ate something? Slept?
Madison: Does passing out just now count?
Griffin: Your heart rate was elevated, ok, but now your vitals are fine.
Kendall: Here.
Griffin: You're suffering from extreme exhaustion. You need to keep drinking, and you need to eat something.
Kendall: Yeah. I can make you a sandwich.
Griffin: And then you sleep. Ok?
Madison: Sounds good -- as long as I don't wake up.
Kendall: We know that you lost your baby.
Madison: Her name was Sara.
Kendall: I can't even begin to imagine losing a child. But I have lost someone that I love. And I know what it's like to think that you'll never recover, to feel like you never want to get out of bed again, like every day is a horrible, rainy one. But then one morning you wake up, and you realize that the memories start to outweigh the pain, and you notice that maybe the sun can still shine through all of those clouds. We care about you, Madison, and we want to be here for you, if you'll let us.
Colby: Hey, Maya! You missed a good time. Why are you working?
Maya: It's my job.
Colby: Oh. Right. I got you a cupcake. There was some, like, graduation party at the Yacht Club. I hope you like sparkles and sprinkles and all that stuff, so -- Asher smuggled it out.
Maya: You didn't have to do that.
Colby: I wanted to. So why don't you, like, come with us and hang out and eat some Thai food.
Maya: I don't get paid to hang out or eat Thai. Ok? Just let me do my job.
Asher: What is wrong with her?
[Phone rings]
Maya: Hey. I'm sorry. I meant to call you back, ok? Please don't be mad.
David: You paged me? I take it you've decided to stay in the dark?
Angie: I guess you could say that. I'm putting myself in your hands. This is a patient-consent form, signed and dated. I'm ready to start treatment as soon as possible.
Jesse: Hey, I agree Hayward is up to something. But working with Erica? It doesn't make any sense. On my side of the law, I got to deal in facts, but you? Nothing stopping you from going with your gut.
Ryan: I already left a word for Erica.
Jesse: I'll ask her a few questions of my own. All right?
Ryan: Let's keep each other in the loop.
Jesse: Stay on the same page, make sure our answers match. All right, I got to get out of here. Greenlee, how you doing? I'll talk to you later.
Greenlee: What, were you guys talking about David?
Ryan: I am not gonna let him pull anything on you anymore.
Greenlee: You think he's up to something else?
Ryan: Jesse and I are putting our heads together to figure out what that might be. You ok?
Greenlee: I am. Thank you for looking out for me.
Ryan: My attention has been elsewhere lately with Madison's loss.
Greenlee: It's your loss, too. I mean, you take all the time you need. If there's anything I can do to help -- and I'm sorry. I've been acting out, wanting your attention.
Ryan: Well, you got it now.
Griffin: She's finally asleep. She's gonna be fine. Good job getting her to rest.
Kendall: You're the doctor.
Griffin: Yeah, but she listened to what you had to say. And because of you, hopefully she's gonna be ok.
[Madison dreams]
Greenlee: Madison, I told you to take some time off.
Madison: You've taken from me for the last time.
