Liza: Unbelievable.
David: Why, thank you. You weren't too bad yourself.
Liza: That is not what I meant.
David: There's nothing to be embarrassed about.
Liza: I can't believe I ended up in bed with you. What the hell is wrong with me?
David: Take my word for it, Liza. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. You are fantastic, inside and out of bed.
Jake: Look who it is. You're back. You miss us?
Cara: Is everything ok?
Jesse: No. No. She's been crying for hours, and she wouldn't stop until she just passed out.
Angie: I think it's just colic, but Jesse --
Jake: Jesse was crying, right, because he's a new daddy and everything? It's not the baby at all.
Angie: Honey, I'm telling you she's fine.
Jake: Cara, why don't you take Mommy and baby into 424, do some prelims. I'll be in in a minute.
Cara: Ok.
Jesse: Do you need me to -- are you sure?
Cara: Yes. We're good. Of course. We're on it.
Jake: 424, Ang.
Angie: Mm-hmm.
Jake: Jesse? She's fine, Jesse.
Maya: Ok, baby girl, no more sitting around here thinking about you, feeling sorry for myself. I've got to do something about this.
Kendall: I'm serious. You do not have to wait with me until Ricky gets here.
Griffin: It's not a problem. Actually, I could drive you to the airport, and we could wait for Ricky there.
Kendall: No, no. I'm not gonna be that big of a basket case over this random woman, Diana Holden. I'm making up danger in my head where there is none.
Ricky: You should've listened, Diana. You should've left Kendall to me.
Kendall: I overreacted. She really didn't do anything except ask to use my phone and ask a few nosy questions.
Griffin: You don't know what she could've been after. You need to look after yourself, Kendall. You need to be more careful.
Jake: Hey. So it's just us two out here, right? What's upsetting you? Is it being a new father? Is that what's freaking you out?
Jesse: Come on, Jake. You know me. I don't freak out. But we should get in there and check out what's going on.
Jake: My goddaughter's in perfectly good form. And that's the opinion of two professionals, ok? So why don't you tell me what's bugging you?
Jesse: Just had a baby, new daddy, been a while.
Jake: Right. When Trevor had the croup, I was a wreck. And I'm a doctor, so I get it. You're gonna ease back into it. It's one of those things. You'll just relax, and you just got to not worry so much.
Jesse: Yeah. Don't see that happening anytime soon.
Cara: She looks just fine. She's just beautiful. Please, can I just take her for a second?
Angie: Of course. Thanks for checking her out.
Cara: Oh, my pleasure. She's so beautiful. Oh, gosh, I wish you could -- you know -- I'm sorry. I know that --
Angie: It's ok. Really. I might not be able to see Lucy's face, but I'm getting pretty good at my other senses.
Cara: Can I ask, is Jesse ok?
Angie: Yeah. He's just had a tough past few days, that's all.
Cara: Of course. You, as well. The delivery was crazy.
Angie: Cara, I don't know how it could've been any worse. Here I was, stuck out in the middle of nowhere, and Jesse having to deliver our baby with no help. I pass out.
Cara: Right. About that, do you remember anything else after you came to or --
Angie: My first memory was thinking thank God she's alive.
Cara: And you knew that because --
Angie: I heard her crying. I didn't know what else was going on, but I knew I just wanted to hold my baby.
Cara: And that's when Jesse gave her to you. Right?
Angie: Not for a while, though. Actually, it seemed like an eternity. But finally he put her in my arms.
[Lucy fusses]
Cara: Just like that? Just to Mama? Why do you think that he waited so long? It's ok, sweetie pie. Shh, shh, shh.
Angie: It's ok. I'm not sure. He never explained that. But I didn't care once I had Lucy safe and snug. I just think Jesse was a little overwhelmed, that's all.
Cara: Right. Of course. That makes sense, yes?
Angie: Mommy's here. I just wish Jesse would relax and just enjoy what we have.
[Lucy quiets]
Angie: I think she's calming down a bit. I think you're good with her.
Cara: Oh, yeah? I'm just kind of rocking her. Shh, shh, shh, shh.
Maya: Oh, no. Not now. [Puts on an earring] Maya: For luck.
Kendall: You suddenly seem more worried about this than I am.
Griffin: I want you to be --
Kendall: I know. You want me to be on the lookout and be aware. I know.
Griffin: Hey. Tired?
Kendall: A little.
Griffin: Why don't you take a nap upstairs? Ricky won't be here for a while.
Kendall: I don't have to go upstairs. Actually, I can just rest right here on the couch. Just rest my eyes for a minute. Yeah, I'm just gonna rest my eyes.
Griffin: Oh, yeah. I can see that you're wide awake, Tiger.
David: Ha ha ha! After, what, 14 years of foreplay, I got to tell you that was definitely worth it. Come on, Liza. It's ok to admit it. We're fantastic together horizontally. I can't wait to see what we can accomplish vertically. Ohh.
Liza: I thought I made myself very clear that I don't want to have anything to do with you in any direction.
David: That's pretty interesting, considering I just enjoyed you in both directions over the last 20 minutes or so.
Liza: I plead temporary insanity.
David: Come on. You knew exactly what you were doing.
Liza: Which I regret. So if you say anything --
David: Ooh. Threats. I like where this is going.
Liza: My reputation is bad enough as it is.
David: Yeah. You know something? You're right about that. Sleeping with me right after bedding your daughter's --
Liza: Do not go there.
David: You do remember that I'm the one who got you that D.A. job, don't you?
Liza: Yes, because you keep reminding me.
David: And I was also the one who helped you keep that job after Colby aired your dirty laundry online, right?
Liza: So what are you saying? That I owe you?
David: What do you think?
Liza: What do you really want, David? What are you after this time?
David: This was certainly a good start.
Liza: Seriously.
David: I want my life back. That's not too much to ask, now, is it?
Liza: I guess it just depends on what part of your life. You want to be a doctor again? You want to be married to Greenlee?
David: All I really want is to practice medicine. And I know what I'm doing.
Liza: So do I. And this? Huh. This isn't it. In other words, whatever just happened here didn't. Got it?
Angie: Cara assured me that our little girl is just fine.
Jesse: So now we wait for the pediatrician, huh?
Angie: No. Now we take our colicky-but-healthy baby home and be prepared for some more crying.
Jesse: Are you sure we shouldn't just wait it out?
Angie: You know what, Jesse? Right now I'm more concerned about you. What is going on? Please tell me. What is it?
Jesse's voice: Breathe, baby. Breathe. She's not breathing.
Brot: Jesse, she's gone! Someone left her in my squad car. They wanted to give her away.
[Lucy cries]
Angie: Jesse, talk to me. I need my baby. I need to hold her. Ellie. Our baby. Our baby. Jesse?
Jesse: Baby, it's nothing. It's work. I've got this case --
Angie: No, it's not. It's Lucy. You're scared, and for the life of me I don't know why because she's fine. Why don't you believe me?
Jesse: I always believe you, baby. I do.
Angie: Ok, listen. Being a new dad and taking care of a tiny little baby is just harder than you remember.
Cara: So the heart and lungs look great. Nice soft belly.
Jake: That's good. Sounds great.
Cara: And Angie decided that we didn't need to call the pediatrician. Shh, shh, shh.
Jake: Feels good to hold a baby, huh?
Cara: Oh, you're telling me. It's hard not to love them.
Jake: Kind of reminds me of the time we thought we were pregnant. I don't think you really told me how you felt or, when we found out that we weren't, how disappointed you were.
Cara: Yeah, it just wasn't the right time.
Jake: I hope that you -- I hope that you're able to have a family of your own someday.
Cara: Uh, maybe. I don't know.
Jake: Why do you say that? You think you're not able to because of the chemo?
Cara: No, it's not that. It's not in the cards for me, that's all.
Jake: Why do you say that?
Cara: Why do I say that? I don't know. I'm involved in a phony marriage, there's a bounty on my head, and truth be told, I don't really want to bring another child into this world without the right father by my side.
Griffin: Wake up, Kendall. Wake up. Kendall? Hey, come on. The reverend's gonna be here soon. Hi.
Kendall: Hi.
Griffin: What were you dreaming about?
Kendall: I wasn't dreaming.
Griffin: Something was going on. You were making these noises. You were touching your face.
Kendall: Why do you always have to make a big deal out of absolutely nothing?
Griffin: Whoa. You always this sweet when you first wake up?
Kendall: Oh. Excuse me. I forgot about your wonderful bedside manner.
Griffin: All I said was that must've been some dream.
Kendall: Yeah, I know, and you kept saying it and saying it over and over again.
Griffin: Ok, forget I said anything.
Kendall: You're always bugging me about one thing or the other.
Griffin: Kendall, hang on.
Kendall: What do you want? Why are you really here?
Ricky: I'll always remember the good times we had together.
Cara: I've come to terms with not having children.
Jake: You actually haven't given me a good enough reason yet.
Cara: Being in a fake marriage to your brother -- that doesn't count or what?
Jake: I mean after that.
Cara: Ok. After that, we've got the immigration problem. So who knows how long that's gonna last?
Jake: After that. Three years from now.
Cara: You can stop now. It's ok.
Jake: I'm just trying to understand the problem.
Cara: I think you already do.
[Intercom beeps]
Woman: Can I help you?
Maya: Yes. Hi. My name's Maya Mercado, and I met Asher the other day.
Woman: Asher isn't here.
Maya: No, actually, I wasn't looking for him. I was here for --
Woman: Who are you looking for? Come on. Out with it, girl. What do you want?
Angie: Let's go. Let's take Lucy home.
Jesse: Yeah. Right.
Angie: Listen, once we all get a good night's sleep, we will all feel better.
[Phone rings]
Jesse: Hubbard. Right. I'll check it out.
Angie: Do you have to go to the station?
Jesse: No. Actually, there's a situation here in the E.R.
Angie: Ok. Listen, you go on. I'll go get the baby, and I'll just wait for you up here.
Jesse: I'll come with you to get the baby for you.
Angie: Jesse, go. I know my way around.
Jesse: This shouldn't take long. Ok?
David: Angie. Hi. It's David.
Angie: I know who it is. You know what? I just want to ask you, why do you keep showing up here?
David: I guess it's kind of hard to stay away from a place that's always felt like home.
Angie: It is not your home anymore.
David: I heard you were discharged. I hope there's nothing wrong with your baby.
Angie: My baby just has a little colic, but she'll be fine.
David: That's wonderful. She certainly is a miracle child.
Angie: Yeah, she is.
David: Kind of makes you wonder if there might be another miracle in store, this time for her mother.
Angie: What are you talking about?
David: The possibility of you seeing again.
Cara: It's about that time to give her back to her mama.
Jake: Listen, I didn't mean to press or push or pry about you having a baby. I don't even know where that came from.
Cara: It's all good. Look at her. I'm sure it's just gas, but I'm thinking she's smiling.
Jake: I'm gonna go with she wants to smile.
Cara: Are you smiling, or you gonna cry on me?
Amanda: Hey, guys.
Jake: Hi.
Amanda: Hi. How's Lucy?
Jake: Good. It was a little false alarm. She's good.
Amanda: Oh, she's so precious. Can you believe they steal your hearts, they're just little newborns like that?
Frankie: Hey, I heard my sis was in here. She's ok, right?
Cara: She's great. She's great.
Frankie: Oh, yeah. She's looking wonderful. Uh-oh.
Jake: Hi. She looks wonderful like you said.
Cara: I got to get out of here, but I'll tell you this. Jesse and Angie are here somewhere.
Frankie: Yeah. I'll find them. Hey. I swear she's smiling.
Jake: That looks like she was smiling. I was saying that before.
Frankie: All right, little sis, let's find our folks, huh? All right, here we go.
Amanda: Oh. Here. Don't forget the baby carrier. You got it?
Frankie: Got it.
Amanda: Oh! Hey, Jake, you ok?
Jake: Yeah, I'm good. I guess I'm just thinking about them as a little family, Angie and Jesse and the baby. They've just been going through quite an ordeal really.
Amanda: It was a really tough delivery, but everything's ok now, right? You still kind of look preoccupied.
Jake: Oh, no. It's just been a hell of a day. Were you coming by the hospital? Am I spacing? Were we meeting up or --
Amanda: I just dropped Trevor off with the sitter for the night.
Jake: Because we -- I'm so sorry. We had a date? Were we doing something?
Amanda: I hope so. If you can get away, come with me. It is the perfect night to make a baby.
Woman: I need to talk to the police!
E.M.T.: Yes, ma'am.
Woman: Stop it! Just let go!
Jesse: What's the problem?
E.M.T.: She was causing a scene at the courthouse, had to be restrained.
Jesse: Hey. Calm down. Hi. My name is Jesse Hubbard. I'm the chief of police here.
Woman: Oh, thank God! Please help me. Nobody wants to listen to me in here.
Jesse: Ok. Calm down. What seems to be the problem?
Woman: My baby -- she's been stolen!
Griffin: Where's this coming from?
Kendall: What?
Griffin: Um, the hostility?
Kendall: I am not being hostile.
Griffin: Ok. Clearly this isn't going anywhere. Look, Kendall, I only came over here to give you medical advice before your trip.
Kendall: You were the one who already gave me a clean bill of health.
Griffin: I know, but there are still issues.
Kendall: Are you trying to keep me from going to St. Barts?
Griffin: That's the last thing that I want.
Kendall: I'm not so sure about that.
Griffin: Then let me make myself perfectly clear. You need to go to St. Barts.
Kendall: Aha. All right. You're trying to get rid of me. I want to know why.
Angie: I don't appreciate your sense of humor.
David: This is no joke. Now, you might not like me, but you have to admit that I have pulled off some of my own miracles in my time, right? I mean, against all odds, I kept Greenlee alive. I helped her walk again. I even pulled Kendall from the grave. Now, giving you back your sight --
Angie: Get out of my way, David.
David: Just hear me out. Ok? I have done extensive research on your diagnosis. Angie. Now, I'm sure you have, too. You've probably talked to the top specialists in the country. But the difference between you and I is that we follow a different set of codes. You may have your fine, upstanding reputation, but, therefore, people wouldn't come to you with certain experimental, fringe ideas. Now, a person with my reputation? People aren't expecting me to follow the rules, FDA or otherwise, and there's a hell of a lot more going on out there than you'll find published in journals. I can give it to you, Angie. So what do you say?
Angie: What do I say? I tell you what I say. Take away your sight the way you took away mine, gouge your eyes out right here and right now, and then we'll talk miracles.
Jesse: Fellows, I got this. Thanks.
Woman: You got to help me, please.
Jesse: Calm down. Tell me exactly what happened.
Woman: I gave my baby up, my baby girl, but I want her back.
Jesse: I understand that. When did this happen?
Woman: It was like yesterday. Please, please! You got to give me back my baby! Give her back!
Jesse: I do not have your baby!
Woman: You're still here?
Maya: Yeah. See, I used just about all my money on bus fare, so I really wanted to talk to Mr. Chandler.
Woman: Mr. Chandler isn't home either.
Maya: [Sighs] Ok. I should've called ahead. I met Asher, and he said that there might be a job in the house?
Woman: I'm the household manager.
Maya: Great. I'm a really hard worker.
Woman: Mr. Chandler never told me a thing about you. What other households have you worked in?
Maya: Well, I haven't. But --
Woman: Who run a tight ship. Maybe you'd be better off putting in an application at the record store at the mall.
Maya: Do they even have record stores anymore?
Woman: Good-bye, Miss.
Maya: Mercado, Maya Mercado. If I could please just speak to Mr. Chandler --
[Door closes]
Griffin: First, you say that don't want you to go to St. Barts. Now you're saying I'm trying to get rid of you?
Kendall: You clearly want something here.
Griffin: No. You know what it sounds like to me? For some reason, you're trying to start a fight with me.
Kendall: Oh, no! No, I'm not gonna let you turn this around to me.
Griffin: Turn what around? I was just commenting on some dream.
Kendall: Yeah. Ok, that's another thing. Who does that? Who just sits in a room and watches someone sleep?
Griffin: You want me to leave?
Kendall: No. I want answers. Ok. All right. Maybe I was a little grumpy when I woke up.
Griffin: "A little"?
Kendall: It still doesn't change what I'm sensing, ok? I'm sensing something here. You came over here for some reason that you're not telling me. Now I'm gonna ask you again -- what the hell is going on? And I want a straight answer, or you can get out.
Griffin: You know I'm your friend.
Kendall: Yes. And friends are honest with each other.
Griffin: I only want what's best for you.
Kendall: Ok. Then you'll tell me what's going on.
Griffin: Kendall, you've been through so much.
Kendall: I know. "Poor Kendall." Blah, blah, blah. I know. I'm so sick of that. You're better than that, Griff. I deserve better.
Griffin: This isn't gonna be easy.
Kendall: I don't want easy. I want the truth.
[Doorbell rings]
Kendall: That's probably Ricky.
Ricky: Hey. Are you ok?
Kendall: Yeah. Actually, I just woke up from a nap.
Ricky: Oh. I think that this trip comes at the right time. it'll get you away from here, and it'll give you a chance to get the rest that you need. Right, Doc?
Kendall: Ricky, do you mind? Can I just talk to him alone for one second?
Griffin: Kendall, it can wait until when you get back.
Kendall: I thought that you --
Griffin: No, Ricky's right. You do need this time away, so have a great trip. All right? Look out for her.
Kendall: Griff, wait a minute. Griffin?
David: I never wanted you to go blind.
Angie: I warned you your budget cuts would put people at risk specialists on call -- who needs them? Sterile gloves, enough personnel to keep them in stock? Forget that.
David: If I could go back --
Angie: You can't! You can't. And I'm not sure you would do one single thing differently, because you're not a good person, David. So stop pretending you want to be my miracle worker.
David: Maybe that's why I want to help. Did you ever think of that? Maybe I feel terrible about the whole situation.
Angie: Very slick, but I'm not buying. I know that my blindness has no cure.
David: I never thought in a million years that I would hear Angie Hubbard being a defeatist. And what if you're wrong?
Angie: I have accepted what I am in life, and I am doing just fine.
David: I'm offering you a hell of a lot better than "doing just fine."
Angie: Just get out of my way, David.
David: Why, Angie? Just forget for a moment that it's me making this offer. Don't you want to stop imagining what she looks like and see your daughter's face for yourself?
Jake: That's some plan you have for us tonight.
Amanda: You like it?
Jake: Yeah. I was thinking more along the lines of dinner and a movie.
Amanda: And afterwards we could come back home and try and make another baby.
Jake: You're a great mom.
Amanda: And you are a great father, which is why --
Jake: I just have to be honest and tell you I don't think it's the best time.
Amanda: Not the best time? Why not?
Jake: You know how hard I've been working as the chief of staff.
Amanda: But Angie's gonna be coming back.
Jake: Yes, she's coming back, but we don't know exactly when. Right? And your job? You just started up a new job.
Amanda: Which I haven't really thrown myself into yet because I -- I mean, we talked about baby number two.
Jake: I just think if we're being really honest with each other, it's not just the jobs, and we're having some problems. Right?
Amanda: Because of Cara.
Jake: I'm just saying we have tension. There's tension there.
Amanda: Which is why I think having another baby will help release all that tension.
Jake: I don't think it -- I don't think it works like that.
Amanda: I think it will for us. I know it. I think having another baby will help us focus on what is important -- our family.
Maya: Oh, no. Where are you? I need to find you.
[Lucy fusses]
Woman: I want my little girl back.
Dr. Meyers: The loss of a child is always a terrible blow.
Woman: I just don't know what to do, how to get her back.
Dr. Meyers: Maybe we should talk privately.
Jesse: If there's a missing newborn, I think --
Woman: "Newborn"? My baby is 10 years old!
Jesse: Oh, I'm sorry. I --
Dr. Meyers: So who took her? The child's father?
Woman: No. The courts. But he has her, and he won't let me see her.
Dr. Meyers: Because?
Woman: Because he thinks I'm still using, but I'm not. I haven't had anything in a long time. I'm clean.
Dr. Meyers: I think I can take it from here.
Jesse: All right. Listen. Good luck, and I'm sorry. Ok?
Cara: Hey, Jesse? You ok?
Jesse: What?
Cara: Are you ok?
Jesse: Yeah, yeah. I'm fine.
Jake: You know how important family is to me, right? It's always been important to me. I come from a big loving family. I come from the Martins. We're the Martins -- you're a part of that.
Amanda: I'm talking about us, Jake -- you, me, and Trevor.
Jake: Yeah, and we'll have another one someday. Ok? Someday.
Amanda: Just not now.
Jake: I just don't think it's the best timing.
Amanda: But shouldn't I have a say?
Jake: Yes. Shouldn't I have a say? We both have to agree on it, right?
[Phone chirps]
Amanda: So you have to go?
Jake: We'll talk about this. All right?
Angie: All you care about is practicing medicine at this hospital again.
David: I haven't kept that fact hidden from anyone.
Angie: But you need people on your side to testify for you, prove to the board that you're an asset to the medical community and to this hospital.
David: None of this matters right now. You know why? Because eventually I'm gonna get that support.
Angie: Not from me, David. I wouldn't let you treat my eyelash, never mind my eyes! I don't want your help! I don't want anything from you!
David: Try to imagine the moment, Angie. You try to imagine that moment when you actually see your daughter's face for the first time. What if I could make that happen? Because of your anger, you wouldn't even give me a chance. I think even you would have to admit that would be a shame.
Frankie: Oh, and would you look at those eyes? She's so cute! This is a heartbreaker right here. Of course, my dad won't let her date till she's, like, 30. But I wanted you all to meet the newest member to the Hubbard family. Say hello. Say hi. And there's the man that brought her into this world against all odds. Yes.
[Everyone applauds]
Jake: What's going on?
Cara: Can I share something with you?
Jake: Sure.
Cara: And you'll hear the whole thing out? You're not gonna get upset? Is that cool?
Jake: Absolutely
Cara: Ok. All right. So I've been thinking a lot about the baby, Angie's baby, and it's a miracle that the little baby survived.
Jake: Very lucky.
Cara: Yeah. Maybe.
Jake: Where you going with this?
Cara: Have you noticed how weird Jesse's been acting?
Jake: I think it's understandable, considering the circumstances.
Cara: Ok. I was just in the E.R., and he kind of lost it on this woman that the paramedics just brought in.
Jake: What happened?
Cara: Ok. She came in. She was freaking out. She was hysterical, saying that someone stole her baby. And that Jesse was there, and he kind of -- he was very inappropriate, Jake. And --
Jake: What? There's more?
Cara: Yes. Angie told me that she lost consciousness -- right at the end of her labor, and that she didn't regain it until after the baby was born.
Jake: All of this is charted.
Cara: Yes, but when she came to, she asked Jesse if she could hold the baby, and Jesse didn't give her the baby. Not for a while.
Jake: What are you trying to say?
Cara: I'm just wondering, you know, what if --
Jake: Yeah?
Cara: What if the baby isn't Angie's child?
Ricky: You checked the windows, and you called your mom. The wedding is still on?
Kendall: Yes. Yes. Of course.
Ricky: So what's the problem?
Kendall: It has just been a crazy day. You know that woman who came over here, and she had car trouble?
Ricky: Yeah. And I got it started, and she drove off. So?
Kendall: So it turns out she gave me a fake name. And then Griffin comes over here acting all weird. He said he wanted to talk to me about my medical condition, but I know there was something else. But then he left before I could get anything out of him.
Ricky: And since there's nothing you can do about any of that --
Kendall: I know. Relax. I know. But this is just crazy, and it all started with that woman, Diana Holden.
Ricky: What are you doing?
Kendall: I am going to Google her, and I'm gonna find out exactly who in the hell she is.
Ricky: I don't think that's such a great idea.
Kendall: Wait. There he is, Diana Holden. She worked with Zach's casino group. What does she want from me?
Griffin: Ryan? It's Griffin Castillo. Listen, I need you to check on Kendall for me. What the hell? Hey! What are you doing here? Hey --
