Griffin: Hey.
Kendall: Hey.
Griffin: Sorry I'm late.
Kendall: That's ok.
Griffin: So, what's up? Did you make any headway on Zach's letter?
Kendall: Not yet.
Griffin: But you still believe he was trying to tell you something, right?
Kendall: I just -- I feel it.
Griffin: Well, maybe it's time to share that feeling with the police.
Erica: You really don't have to do this, Reverend.
Ricky: Buy Erica Kane a cup of tea? Right. Huge sacrifice.
Erica: Well, you know what I mean. You've already spent most of the morning giving me some advice on how I can help my daughter.
Ricky: I care about Kendall, too, and I want to see her get past her grief. And with you in her corner, she will.
Erica: With us in her corner.
Ricky: With us, right. So, shall we?
[Cell phone rings]
Erica: Oh. Sorry. I should have a look.
[Ring]
Erica: Oh, excuse me. I should take this. Jack?
Jack: Listen, whatever you're doing, can you get home? It concerns our future.
Erica: I'll be home as soon as I can. Reverend, do you mind if I take a rain check?
Ricky: Sure. Big plans?
Erica: I'm not sure.
Ricky: See you later.
Scott: Hey, I just took the trash out there.
Madison: I'm tossing everything.
Scott: Wait a minute. Not my shower radio. I love that thing.
Madison: Everything of mine -- shampoos, conditioners, makeup. It's all toxic.
Scott: Well, I don't see your hair falling out, and I don't think your skin is melting. Wait a minute, is it?
Madison: Make fun of me all you want, but I've been thinking about this seriously for a while since I got pregnant, wondering what I'm putting on my body, what I'm putting into my body, all that.
Scott: Have you talked to your doctor?
Madison: She made me a list. She seems to think there's nothing to worry about with all this stuff, but I don't know. I'm tossing it anyway, just to be safe. I've really been thinking about this. Actually, I had this idea. I think Fusion should start another organic line.
Scott: Really? Like a lip gloss that doubles as an afternoon snack?
Madison: Given how hungry I am, that actually sounds like a pretty good idea. But no, I mean, non-toxic products that pregnant women don't have to worry about using, you know. Nobody likes lathering their bodies in chemicals, but especially not when you're carrying a baby. Trust me. So, anyway, I wrote up a proposal.
Scott: Really?
Madison: Mm-hmm. This whole green Madonna-and-child kind of thing. Products for the baby, too. ah -- you hate it.
Scott: Are you kidding me? I think it's brilliant.
Madison: Really?
Scott: Yeah, the whole world has gone organic. I mean it. This idea is like springboard material.
Madison: Yeah, if Greenlee and Kendall go for it.
Scott: Wait a minute. What is with that attitude? You gotta go in there. You gotta sell 'em on it, like you just sold me -- with confidence. That's what's gonna get you noticed.
Madison: I don't really have a problem getting noticed these days, you know what I mean? Aah!
Scott: What's wrong?
[Cell phone rings]
David: Annie? Oh, hi. Emma? What are you --
Ryan: Ems! Ems! Is that you? Emma, it's ok. It's Daddy, sweetheart. Are you ok?
Emma: Yeah, fine.
David: This is a really bad idea!
Ryan: Emma, where are you? Sweetie, do you know?
Emma: We are in Boston. We need your help.
Ryan: I know, I know, honey. You and your mommy don't have any money, right?
Emma: Mommy wants you to bring it to the waterfront, the long wharf.
Ryan: Sweetie, you have no idea how good it is to hear your voice, but don't let Mommy know that you're talking to me instead of David, ok.
Emma: We'll be waiting at the wharf at midnight.
Ryan: Ok, and I know you must be scared, but I'm gonna bring you home safe and sound.
Emma: I want to talk to Madison.
Ryan: Ok, she's not here right now, but I can get her. Ems? Emma?
Greenlee: Is she ok? How does she sound?
Ryan: She said that she's ok, I guess. I don't know.
David: I'll tell you what Annie knows, that we're working together.
Greenlee: Not helping. Why did she hang up? Was Annie there?
Ryan: She didn't want to talk to me.
Greenlee: Who did she want to talk to?
Ryan: Madison.
Scott: Ok, sit down.
Madison: I'm fine.
Scott: You are not fine, ok? You just had a cramp.
Madison: It's over, and it wasn't even that bad.
Scott: Oh, really? So you always say "Ow" just for fun?
Madison: I can't just sit around here. I have to go into work and put in my extra hours.
Scott: Ok. Here's the deal. I know it's not my place, but I don't think you should go to work today.
Madison: Weren't you just the one who was telling me I should march in there with my head held high and sell this idea?
Scott: Ok, hold on one second. I didn't say anything about walking style or the angle of your head.
Madison: Scott.
Scott: Ok, listen to me. I love the concept. I really do, and I think you should pitch it. I just don't think you should do it today.
Madison: I need the money.
Scott: I can pick up extra hours.
Madison: Listen, you were right. As sweet as the offer is, it's not your place.
Scott: Ok. Well, can I at least give you a ride?
Madison: I'm good. And thanks for all the encouragement and -- just thanks.
Scott: You're welcome.
Erica: What's all this?
Jack: What does it look like?
Erica: Well, Jack, I know that things have been tense between us lately, but after last night, I really felt we were on the same wavelength.
Jack: Oh, we are.
Erica: What we have is worth fighting for.
Jack: It is.
Erica: Well, then, why have you packed even more suitcases?
Jack: I'm sorry I couldn't tell you about this.
Erica: Why not?
Jack: Because it would have ruined all the fun. These aren't just my things in here. They're ours.
Erica: Are we going somewhere?
Jack: Why don't you come with me and find out?
Griffin: Man in uniform right over there. Now's your chance.
Kendall: To what, go over and talk to him and make him think I'm a headcase?
Griffin: Have you completely blocked out our conversation? You got all up in my grill about this real deep love, about the impact of that kind of a connection.
Kendall: Well, what do I know?
Griffin: You know your husband. You know Zach. You know he wouldn't call you a name like "sweetheart" unless he was trying to tell you something -- something about what happened. You still believe that?
Kendall: Yeah.
Griffin: Then prove it.
Kendall: You're good, you know that?
Griffin: So I've been told.
Kendall: Ok.
Diana: Saw you talking to Erica Kane before.
Ricky: And?
Diana: Not sure how chatting up the mother's gonna help your cause. You're not supposed to be trying to date the daughter. You're trying to find the evidence --
Ricky: I know what I'm trying to do.
Diana: Really? Because Kendall's in there about to talk to a cop.
Ricky: For all we know, she's donating to the precinct.
Diana: Or spilling her suspicions about her dead husband's letter that you rewrote.
Ricky: Cops got nothing on us.
Diana: So, everything's just peachy. No one's gonna pin Zach's murder on you? Kendall's not gonna find the evidence that's gonna send us to prison? Is that what you're saying?
Ricky: What I'm saying is you don't have to worry about Kendall. She's not the problem. That doctor is.
Diana: Because he's trying to move in on your little girlfriend?
Ricky: Because he won't let her put Zach's death in the past. But if Castillo keeps this up, I got something to nail him with.
Diana: What?
Ricky: Well, it seems like the good doctor's been stealing drugs from the hospital to give to the poor. Still a crime, though -- and a sin.
Kendall: The first time I read it, I was really emotional. I was all over the place. And even though I couldn't focus 100%, I kept hitting on the same message.
Brot: Which was?
Kendall: Zach said that if something happened to him, it was not an accident.
Brot: But there's nothing in this letter that indicates that.
Kendall: I know.
Griffin: Except for --
Kendall: Ok, this is gonna sound crazy, but in the last page, Zach called me "sweetheart," and he never called me that, ever. Terms of endearment were not his thing.
Brot: Maybe he got sidetracked.
Kendall: Zach never got sidetracked.
Griffin: We think he was trying to send her a message.
Brot: Anything else to back this up? Have you noticed anyone following you? Any prank calls? Any hang-ups? Anything like that?
Kendall: No.
Brot: What about have you noticed anything out of place at home, at the office? Seen anyone suspicious at all?
Kendall: Well, no. Not since Zach died.
Brot: So, shady stuff like this was happening when he was alive?
Kendall: Yeah, we did get threatened by some of his casino partners.
Brot: Ok, well, that's something.
Kendall: But Ryan already investigated the crash, and his people said that everything is fine, the case is closed. Ok, you think I'm losing my mind, don't you?
Brot: If you think Zach was trying to tell you something, I'm not gonna tell you you're wrong.
Jack: Almost there. Ok?
Erica: Ok.
Jack: Now open your eyes. so, what do you think?
Erica: Well, I think we're on Kendall and Zach's yacht, but I don't understand why. Did she give you the key?
Jack: The key and her blessing.
Erica: Her blessing? Did you buy this?
Jack: I did.
Erica: When? How?
Jack: You remember Zach was trying to sell this boat before --
Erica: Yeah, then the sale fell through.
Jack: And I didn't think much of it, then I had this wonderful idea. We had so many good times, on our boat, on the "At Last." Why can't this be our new safe haven? The place we go to shut out the rest of the world, just focus on us. So I took this idea to Kendall. She thought it was a damn good one, and here we are.
Erica: I don't know what to say!
Jack: I'm hoping that's not because you have any doubts about us.
Erica: The last thing I feel when I look at you is doubt.
Jack: You can decorate it any way you want.
Erica: Well, that goes without saying.
Jack: Then when our troubles get to be too much for us, we just sail away.
Erica: We are so good, when it's just the two of us.
Jack: Yes, we are. So, does that mean you're in?
Erica: I just love your surprise.
Jack: We will make so many wonderful memories on this boat.
Erica: I can't wait.
Jack: Who said anything about waiting?
[Cell phone rings]
[Ring]
Erica: Ok, all right. I better just -- you know it' gonna drive us crazy. It'll just ring and ring and ring.
Jack: Aren't you gonna take it?
[Ring]
Erica: No. It's just Caleb. Talk to him later.
Jack: Come here.
Kendall: Ok, well, if you think it is worth pursuing, then where will you start?
Brot: Whoa, unfortunately, the police can't do anything.
Griffin: Why not?
Brot: Because there's not enough evidence to warrant an investigation. I really wish we could help. I really do. For the record, I'm a big believer in going with your gut. That kind of thinking saved my ass many times.
Kendall: Thank you. Thank you for hearing me out.
Brot: No problem.
Kendall: Well, that went well.
Griffin: Hey, don't get down on yourself.
Kendall: I'm not down. I'm just -- I don't know what I am.
Griffin: You heard the man.
Kendall: Yeah, humoring me because he felt sorry for me, because I just lost my husband. He can see that I'm an emotional wreck, but this has gotta stop.
Griffin: What do you mean, this has gotta stop?
Kendall: Look at me. This whole thing spiraling out of control, and it needs to stop. I need to stop.
Griffin: No, you can't do that.
Randi: Hey, sexy mama.
Madison: Hey.
Randi: Wow. There's no hiding that pregnancy any more, is there?
Madison: Luckily, I don't have to worry about that anymore.
Randi: Does that mean you've told Ryan?
Madison: Keep your voice down.
Randi: I'll take that as a no. He still doesn't know that's his baby?
Madison: Ryan has enough to worry about right now with Emma missing. Can we not talk about him, please?
Randi: Fine. Done. What do you want to talk about?
Madison: Me. Well, not me per se, but kind of --
Randi: Madison.
Madison: Oh, sorry. I have this great idea for a new product line.
[Phone rings]
Randi: Fusion. Hey, Joanna. What? And they named us specifically? Ok, I'll look into?
Madison: What happened?
Randi: Something that's not gonna make Greenlee or Kendall happy.
Greenlee: What did he say?
Ryan: The FBI's gonna send some guys to Boston just in case Annie does show up where she said she would show up.
David: Well, I wouldn't count on that one. If you would have just stuck with the plan, let me speak to Emma --
Ryan: Yeah, 'cause it's crazy that you would want to talk to my daughter who's been missing all this time.
David: I'm just saying. I will bet you anything the reason Emma hung up is because Annie realized she wasn't talking to me. The woman might be out of her mind, but she's not an idiot.
Greenlee: You know what, Annie still needs money, so she could risk it. Talk to me about Emma. How did she sound?
Ryan: She sounded really programmed, like every syllable that came out of her mouth was controlled, like she was being coached.
Greenlee: She must have been happy to hear your voice, right?
Ryan: No, she wasn't. She wasn't happy. She didn't even seem surprised. It was almost like Annie prepped her that it's a possibility she could be talking to me.
Greenlee: Listen, she's ok, right? That's the most important thing.
Ryan: I was just thinking about all the lies that Annie's probably filling her head with. Emma needs to be home. She needs to get here now, safe, with us.
Greenlee: I know.
Ryan: I'm gonna go call Madison, let her know there's a chance Emma could be calling, ok?
Greenlee: What?
David: Look, I don't mean to sound insensitive, but do you have any idea when you might put in a good word for me to get my medical license back?
Greenlee: My stepdaughter is out there, God knows where. My husband is sick with worry, but sure, David, I'll get right on it.
David: The sarcasm isn't necessary.
Greenlee: Do you see Emma here? No? Me neither. The deal was that you would help bring her back, then you get your precious job.
David: Why are you so upset with me?
Greenlee: Because you said that you could help, and you can't. We just spent all this time getting so close, and we just actually went backwards.
David: I'll tell you what. I have another theory, and it has nothing to do with me. You're pissed off right now, because Ryan doesn't need you. He needs Madison. Am I warm?
[Phone rings]
Greenlee: Hello?
Randi: Greenlee, it's Randi.
Greenlee: Whatever it is can wait.
Randi: Actually, it can't. Are you sitting down?
Greenlee: Ok, I'll deal with it.
David: Is something wrong?
Greenlee: Nothing that I can't handle.
David: Is there anything I can do?
Greenlee: You see an opportunity, and you pounce, don't you?
David: This isn't about getting my job back. In fact, it's not about me at all.
Greenlee: Everything you do is about you or for you.
David: Is it really so difficult for you to believe that I still care?
Greenlee: If you can't help me find Ryan's daughter, then I want nothing to do with you. In fact, you should just leave.
David: I can help you with this, Greenlee.
Greenlee: Go. Get in touch with Madison?
Ryan: No. I talked to Scott. Hey, what's going on? Hayward do something?
Greenlee: No, David is the least of my worries, actually. Randi just called, and apparently an ingredient we use in our new blush and lipstick is potentially toxic.
Ryan: What? Are you serious? You gotta get over there.
Greenlee: No. What about you and Emma?
Ryan: I'm gonna go to Boston. I'm gonna pray Annie does the right thing.
Greenlee: I'm coming with you.
Ryan: There's no reason for you to come with me.
Greenlee: Yes, there is. I'll call Kendall and let her know what's going on.
Ryan: Do you think Kendall can handle a crisis right now?
Greenlee: No, but I don't want you to be alone.
Ryan: Well, if all goes as planned, I won't be. I'm gonna ask Madison to come with me.
Erica: Caleb. I got your message. I just don't have a lot of time.
Caleb: You never do.
Erica: Actually, I'm glad you called me, because there's something I wanted to run by you. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about Cortlandt Electronics. And I think it's time we bring our company into the 21st century. I think the answer is in new media.
Caleb: New media, huh?
Erica: Yeah, I know that you have been gone for a long time, but surely know that people are doing everything on the Internet now. They're shopping, and they're reading and booking travel plans and watching TV. I think we need to update our website immediately -- new graphics, new content. Make Cortlandt Electronics much more accessible to the general public, not just the techies. So what do you think?
Caleb: That's what you wanted to talk to me about?
Erica: What else is there?
Caleb: Oh, I don't know. Heard you were quitting.
Kendall: Going to the police was a horrible idea. I never should have let you talk me into it.
Griffin: There's a lot of that going around, I guess.
Kendall: What does that even mean?
Griffin: You made me believe in trusting my gut instincts when it came to people that I love. You don't buy that anymore?
Kendall: I do, yeah. I mean, in some situations.
Griffin: Just not the ones that count?
Kendall: Why are you on my case about this?
Griffin: Because you made me think differently. And believe it or not, that doesn't happen a whole lot. science is all wrapped up in numbers and results. There doesn't feel like there's room for anything else. But because of you, I know there is.
Kendall: Ok, well, maybe the one thing I forgot in my so important life lesson to you is that sometimes your gut and your instincts are not enough, all right?
Griffin: Kendall --
Kendall: And this is one of those times --
Griffin: Kendall, you're making a big mistake. You were going in the right direction with this.
Kendall: Would you please just stop? Leave it alone. Just please, leave it alone.
Ricky: Is there a problem?
Griffin: Reverend, just back up.
Kendall: Wait a minute. Wait. If anyone needs to back off, it's you. I'm so sorry.
Griffin: Don't apologize for me.
Kendall: Obviously I have to, 'cause you're not going to. Can I just call you tomorrow?
Ricky: Yeah, sure. Just as long as you're ok.
Kendall: I'm fine. I'm good. Thank you.
Ricky: Ok.
Griffin: Where's this coming from? What happened to your drive, purpose?
Kendall: What good is a purpose if it just leads to a dead end?
Griffin: What's making you think like this, just because you think the cops will think you're crazy?
Kendall: Well, what if they're right? What if I am crazy?
Griffin: You're not.
Kendall: I have nothing to back this up.
Griffin: That's not true. You have --
Kendall: A feeling? I have a feeling? That's nothing even close to proof. Forget about this feeling, all right, not when it completely ruins my entire life. Do you know that I can't even remember the last time that I spent time with Spike and Ian, when I actually laughed with them or talked to them or asked about their day? My boys deserve a mother who's present for them, a mother who knows what's going on with them.
Griffin: You can do both.
Kendall: No, I can't. I can't. I made up something in a letter to keep my husband alive, so that I could do something for him. It doesn't matter. There's nothing I could do for Zach. I can't do anything for him ever again. So, thank you very much, but why don't you just go save the world?
Erica: So where did you hear this rumor?
Caleb: Oh, a little birdie. Your gal pal.
Erica: Opal.
Caleb: She made quite a pitch to take your place, and I almost took her up on it.
Erica: Very funny.
Caleb: So -- you bailing or not?
Erica: Not.
Caleb: We're still partners?
Erica: Just don't make me regret it.
Caleb: Well, I'm relieved to hear that. Who else would supply the drama?
Erica: I think you bring enough of that on your own.
Caleb: So was it really a rumor?
Erica: I'm sorry?
Caleb: You heard me.
Erica: The thought of quitting crossed my mind.
Caleb: Why?
Erica: Because our partnership was beginning to interfere with my personal life and not in a good way.
Caleb: Good old Jackson.
David: Damn it.
Scott: Rough day?
David: Hello, Scott.
Scott: Surprised to see you here, David. I assumed with Greenlee buying you out, I thought you were finished here, that she didn't want you around. So, tell me what happened? Did you weasel your way back into a job here?
David: No, but obviously you did. Last I heard, you were sporting an orange jumpsuit.
Scott: Paroled on good behavior.
David: Really?
Scott: Yes.
David: Well, lucky you.
Scott: So if you're not working here, you have no business with our computers. That can get you thrown out of here.
David: Is that a threat, Scott?
Scott: No, no. It's a choice. You can either leave on your own, or I call Security and have them escort you out of here.
Greenlee: Ok, so first things first. Apparently, we're not the only company using this ingredient. So find out who the others are and what if anything they're doing about it.
Randi: Ok.
Greenlee: What's this?
Madison: Oh, it's mine. An idea that I had for an organic, non-toxic product line for expectant moms and babies.
Greenlee: Timely.
Madison: Any news on Emma?
Ryan: Sort of why I'm here. I was hoping I could talk to you for a second.
Madison: Sure.
Greenlee: What am I doing? Kendall, it's me again. Where are you? It's hitting the fan at Fusion. Call me back. Did you fill her in?
Ryan: Almost.
Madison: So you're obviously going to Boston?
Ryan: Yeah, I am, but I'm really hoping that you could come with me. Look, you're the person that Emma's been reaching out to. And we just thought in case when we're there --
Greenlee: If you're worried about losing your pay, don't be. You'll be compensated for however many hours you're gone.
Madison: I mean, this is --
Ryan: Please. Please, Madison.
Madison: You're really ok with this?
Ryan: Of course, she's ok. Why wouldn't she be? She wants Emma home as much as I do.
Caleb: Everything all right?
Erica: No, not really. Apparently there is some crisis at Fusion and no one can get in touch with Kendall.
Caleb: I can help you find her. You want me to help?
Erica: Thank you. No, that won't be necessary.
Caleb: All right. I'm glad you're not quitting.
Erica: Me, too.
Caleb: Even though you're a colossal pain.
Erica: Caleb.
Caleb: Company still needs you.
Greenlee: I'd give anything to go myself, and if I ever get in touch with Kendall, maybe I'll be able to.
Ryan: I'll be fine just as soon as I hear Madison is on board with this.
Madison: Yeah, I mean, of course. Anything to help Emma.
Ryan: Thank you. Thank you. I'll go get the car and bring it around, ok?
Greenlee: Before you take off with Ryan --
Madison: I knew it. You didn't want me to go.
Greenlee: No, I do. I just want to get something straight first.
David: I'll tell you what, why don't you knock off the high-and-mighty routine, all right? You think I've forgotten that trusty heart valve you funded? You remember, the one you shoved down the Slaters' throats that almost killed their son? Who had the skills to save your sorry ass that day?
Scott: Yeah, David, you were the hero that day. That's right. But tell me something. How does one go from saving lives one minute and then the next completely banished?
David: That is so funny coming from you. I guess we're not so different after all, huh? I mean, one-time CEO of Chandler Enterprises turns convict overnight? The question that I have for you, though, how did you happen to land an admin job here when I can't even get a gig mopping floors? I mean, I was once co-owner of this place once upon a time.
Scott: That's right, with your ex-wife. What a beautiful story that was, hmm? You blackmailed her, almost got her sent to prison for life. hmm, now, why would she help out me and not a standup guy like yourself, hmm?
David: Greenlee helped you get this job? Now, why would she do that? What would be in that for her?
[Door latch clicks]
[Keys rattling]
[Door opens]
Kendall: Hello? Anyone here?
Brot's voice: What about have you noticed anything out of place at home, at the office? Seen anyone suspicious at all?
Kendall: Oh, God.
Jack: Oh, come on.
Kendall: Oh, my God.
Erica: Kendall.
Kendall: Mom, you scared me to death.
Jack: You?
Erica: Who did you think we were?
Kendall: I don't know. I don't know. Stalkers. Murderers. Evil people out to get me. I don't know.
Jack: Why would you think we were any one of those?
Kendall: That's a very good question, Jack.
Erica: Sweetheart, what's going on?
Kendall: I've completely lost my mind. That's what's going on. I've been so obsessed with Zach's letter and trying to find some message that an open door, which I probably left, has me so freaked out that I'm swinging whatever the heck this is -- this fire thing. I could have I killed you guys.
Jack: Thankfully, everyone's fine.
Kendall: Yeah, but I'm not. And my kids won't be either if I don't stop this.
Erica: Oh, now, that is ridiculous, 'cause you're a wonderful mother.
Kendall: When I'm here, when I'm present. I haven't been here in a very long time. So this is me stopping right now. I'm gonna stop all the craziness. I'm gonna stop the obsessing, and I'm moving on with my life.
Nurse: Are you sure this amount is correct?
Griffin: I'm sure.
Scott: Well, Greenlee and I are friends. She couldn't give me a job out of the goodness of her heart?
David: Nah. Greenlee never bothered with administrative duties, especially not with hiring peons such as yourself.
Scott: No offense taken.
David: Not to mention she has Fusion to deal with, so why would she run to your rescue? Unless, of course, you had the ability to run to her.
Scott: Oh, David, come on. You're reaching here.
David: No, I don't think so.. Somewhere along the way, you scratched her back. All I have to do is find the itch.
Greenlee: Ryan's been through a lot the last couple weeks.
Madison: All right, even with pregnancy brain, I'm aware of that.
Greenlee: Then you understand the last thing he needs right now is more stress.
Madison: I'm just trying to help with Emma.
Greenlee: Just want to make sure we're on the same page.
Madison: Ooh!
Greenlee: You ok?
Madison: Yeah, I'm fine.
Greenlee: Are you sure?
Madison: Yeah, the baby moves, and it feels kind of weird sometimes. That's all.
Ryan: Ready to go?
Madison: Mm-hmm.
Greenlee: I hate this.
Ryan: Me, too.
Greenlee: Promise me you'll call me as soon as you know anything. It doesn't matter what time it is. I'll probably be up all night with this disaster anyway.
Ryan: I promise.
Greenlee: I love you.
Ryan: I love you, too. We should get going.
Madison: Let's do it.
