Amanda: Are those my proofs?

Randi: She's deciding which one to use for the launch.

Amanda: Kill me now if she hates all of them.

Erica: Amanda?

Amanda: Yes. Um, hi. You know, if you hate all of them, I can take more --

Erica: You are a huge disappointment.

Angie: Have you seen this?

Jake: Hmm. Not before I've had my coffee.

Angie: Only David Hayward. Only David Hayward!

Jake: Man, I really thought we had him this time.

Angie: Well, you know, it is not over till the fat lady sings.

Greenlee: I can't believe I slept this late.

David: Well, you had a rough night. I'm sorry if I pushed.

Greenlee: No. What happened with Ryan -- I had to get it all out, so thank you.

David: You're welcome. But now you owe me big time.

Greenlee: And I know just how to pay you back.

David: Really? How?

Greenlee: I'm going to give you that annulment.

Annie: Why are you stopping?

J.R.: Annie, will you marry me?

Annie: Are you kidding? Yes. Yes.

Marissa: Hey. How are you doing?

J.R.: I still can't believe Uncle Palmer's gone.

Marissa: I'm so sorry. If you want, I can bail on class.

J.R.: No, no, go. I'm fine.

Marissa: Promise me you'll go back to bed.

J.R.: I will in a while. Right now, I just got to hang out and wait.

Marissa: For what?

J.R.: My father. He didn't come home last night, and neither did Brooke.

Brooke: Some friend I am.

Adam: Huh. Yeah? What are you talking about?

Brooke: Well, I'm talking about that I let you convince me go out for a walk, and then we end up staying out all night. How are you feeling?

Adam: I feel wonderful. How else would I feel? You just told me you loved me.

Brooke: It doesn't change anything. I'm not gonna break up your marriage, Adam, and I'm not gonna break another woman's heart.

Adam: I love you, Brooke. This time, I'm gonna prove it.

Marissa: Krystal says that Adam and Brooke were at their place last night. I guess a bunch of people were. There was a gathering for Palmer. Why don't you just call him?

J.R.: Oh, no, that's ok.

Marissa: But if you're worried --

J.R.: I'm not worried as long as he's with Brooke. I'm really glad that they have each other.

Marissa: So, you're happy that Adam and Brooke spent the night together, huh? And not just so they could mourn Palmer. Do you want them to get back together?

J.R.: Well, it wouldn't be the worst idea.

Marissa: Your dad's married, J.R.

J.R.: To Annie.

Marissa: I can't believe that you're still on her case like this after what she did for you.

J.R.: What? When are you gonna get it? Just because she gave me her bone marrow doesn't make her some kind of saint. She's far from that. And I don't care what my dad says, she can't make him happy. Brooke can.

Marissa: All those times that you talked about how much you hated when your dad tried to control your life -- now you're doing the exact same thing. You need to stay out of your dad's marriage, J.R.

J.R.: And you need to stop policing me. I'm not sick anymore. I can take care of myself.

Marissa: Well -- I'll leave you to it, then.

J.R.: Damn it. Marissa?

Annie: Was that your father?

J.R.: No.

Annie: Well, then, where the hell is he? His bed hasn't been slept in.

J.R.: Out. He's been out all night -- with Brooke.

Adam: If this were any other time in my life, I wouldn't take no for an answer. I would say we were in love, and we belong together and the rest of you can go to hell.

Brooke: But this time?

Adam: This time, I see you, Brooke. I see you. By God, I love what I see. You are the most compassionate, loving, generous woman I've ever met, and I won't make you compromise that.

Brooke: Wow. You are Adam Chandler, right?

Adam: The new, improved Adam Chandler, I believe. Heh heh heh! Or so I'm trying. I want to make you proud, Brooke.

Brooke: You've already done that.

Adam: No, no, not nearly enough. Here it comes. I would be willing to sacrifice anything, virtually anything, in my life to have you in my life, including sacrificing what you want. But your wishes deserve to be fulfilled. That's why I'm letting you go.

David: Um, hmm. And what happened to us ruling the universe together? You know, starting out with Fusion and moving on to the hospital -- I thought we were gonna own this town.

Greenlee: Well, that's when you were protecting me from Ryan. But now that he's officially written me off, you're officially off the hook.

David: Ok, but what if I don't want to be? All right, look. If you've decided that it's time to move on, I'm fine with that. Otherwise, I am perfectly happy with the way things are.

Greenlee: How is that possible? I don't -- I'm not feeling --

David: I know. I know. You're not feeling what I feel. I realize that.

Greenlee: David, you deserve so much more.

David: Really? Says who? I'm married to the most incredible woman, who has my back at every step.

Greenlee: You can't possibly think that's enough.

David: Why not? I think it's a hell of a lot more than most people have. All right, look. I won't deny it. If you ever grow to love me more, that would be fantastic. But if not, I'm perfectly happy right now. We make a great team, Smythe.

Greenlee: That's Hayward to you.

David: Does that mean you'll stick it out?

Greenlee: Like I have anywhere else to go?

David: Oh, thanks.

Greenlee: No, I'm serious. The majority of Pine Valley can't even stand to look at me, my own father included. You're all I've got.

David: Same here. So, what do you say we enjoy our breakfast, huh?

Erica: These photographs are wonderful.

Amanda: They are? Really?

Erica: There. That. That is exactly what is such a big disappointment to me. Amanda, we have had such a wonderful response to our pre-launch campaign. Everyone is saying that you are the next great thing. But I'm not gonna believe that until I hear that from you.

Amanda: Ok.

Erica: Ok, what?

Amanda: Ok. I'm the next big thing.

Erica: Amanda, if you want to be a star, you have to exude confidence at all times. I mean, you have to walk this earth like you own it. That's what people out there get inspired by. I mean, women everywhere are just waiting for someone they can emulate. Be that someone. Can you?

Amanda: I think I can. I -- I -- I know I can because I am a star.

Erica: Ok. Now, that's what I like to hear. What is this?

Randi: Um, one of Amanda's fans.

Erica: Uh, yes, I gathered that. Did you respond to this person?

Amanda: I know, bad idea.

Erica: Amanda, never correspond directly to anybody online. I mean, most people, you know, are wonderful, but some are not. So, Randi, I'm putting you in charge of Amanda's fan mail, online and off.

Randi: Ok. Any specific instructions?

Erica: Well, talk to Val, ok? Because he's been handling my fan mail for years.

Amanda: Erica, thank you so much for all the advice. I mean, this whole fame thing is kind of weirding me out. I mean, people are already recognizing me. It's starting to feel like an invasion of privacy.

Erica: Being available to fans while maintaining boundaries -- it's a fine line. But it's your job, Amanda, to learn how to walk it.

Annie: I had no idea. Palmer and Adam go back such a long time. I should have been with him last night.

J.R.: You didn't know Palmer. Brooke did. But no slam against Brooke.

Annie: I'll never forget the first time I stepped foot in this mansion. It was an immediate connection. It was as if I had found my way home. And I had. Took a while to make it happen, but eventually, Adam opened the doors to me and invited me in. I belong here, J.R.

J.R.: If things keep going the way they are between my dad and Brooke, you might not have a choice.

Annie: You always have a choice, and I choose to stay, and you're gonna help me make that happen.

J.R.: Oh, I am?

Annie: Yeah. You need me just as much as I need you. Think about it. We could have it all -- safe, strong, successful marriages with each other to play with on the side.

J.R.: I love Marissa.

Annie: Yeah, but she doesn't get you like I do. Sure, she's sweet and pretty and smart, but let's be honest, the woman isn't exactly overflowing with excitement. Me, on the other hand --

J.R.: You do keep things interesting.

Annie: I do way more than that. I make your blood boil, and you love it. Guess maybe I should go get dressed. Oh. And you're welcome to watch -- like you did last night.

Brooke: You're doing the right thing, keeping your vows to Annie, yes.

Adam: Then why does it feel so wrong? Oh. I wish I could go back in time, back when we were still married.

Brooke: It's silly to look back. You know why? Because what matters is right now. Right now. This is our moment, now.

Adam: I want more than just a moment.

Brooke: But this is what we have, and -- and I am going to cherish this forever, because the man I love has transformed in front of my very eyes. I mean, the old Adam used to laugh at people who, you know, were honorable or -- everything he did was just to serve himself, but this, this Adam -- you're my hero.

Adam: Now what?

Brooke: [Sighs] Now we go back to our lives. You go back to your family, and -- and, well, I haven't gotten that far yet, so --

Adam: You can stay in the house until you've -- until you figure this out.

Brooke: We both know I can't do that. Will you promise something? I need -- I need to know that you're going to take care of yourself. I need to know that if anything happens, that you will tell your family and that you won't try to handle it all by yourself, ok?

Adam: You have my word.

Brooke: Thank you.

Adam: I can arrange a room for you at the Yacht Club.

Brooke: No. I can -- I can take care of the arrangements, and I should probably do that now.

Brooke: [Sighs] Actually, um, it would be easier for me if I do it by myself. Give me an hour, and when you come home, I'll be gone.

Adam: Brooke.

Brooke: Please. Please. Don't say anything else.

Adam: All right.

Greenlee: Can I tell you how much I am not looking forward to seeing Erica today? If we thought she wanted to claw my eyes out before, she's even worse after your trial.

David: Well, then gouge hers out first.

Greenlee: But I just got a manicure.

David: Well, you two are still competing on your new cosmetics lines, right?

Greenlee: Mm-hmm.

David: Well, then move up the deadline. Pull out all the stops. Win already.

Greenlee: Nothing would infuriate her highness more.

David: Now, that's what I like to hear.

Greenlee: Hmm.

David: What do you say we hit the town this evening?

Greenlee: I say -- yes, please.

David: And celebrate our victories.

Greenlee: Why will you be victorious?

David: I'm getting my job back at the hospital.

Greenlee: Get out! When did that happen?

David: No, it hasn't happened yet. I got an e-mail from one of the board members. He wants to see me this morning.

Greenlee: He didn't say why?

David: Nah. He doesn't have to. I mean, come on. I may not win Mr. Congeniality, but no one can deny the fact that I am excellent at what I do. I will be reinstated, and when I am, they won't just be calling me "Doctor."

Greenlee: They'll be calling you "Chief."

David: That's right.

Jake: I think you're brilliant.

Angie: Good. I thought you would. What, you don't agree?

Frankie: No, I -- I do. I just can't believe you came up with this, that's all.

Angie: Well, you know what? If David fought fair, I'd fight fair, too. But since he doesn't know the meaning of the word, then all bets are off. Now, listen. I want both of you to attend as witnesses.

Jake: Oh, I will show up with popcorn and 3-D glasses. How's that?

Frankie: Yeah, and it looks like I got to find somebody to cover my shift.

Jake: I worship you. I worship you.

Angie: Yeah, I know you do.

Erica: So, Ciro should be here any minute.

Randi: Can't wait.

Erica: Yeah, well, he's not my favorite, either, but he happens to be a genius of a photographer, and he always really likes my shoes. So, Amanda, you'd better run now because hair and makeup is waiting for you in the lounge. Ok? Hi.

Jackson: Hi. I just wanted to, uh -- check on you, see how you were after last night.

Erica: Oh. Well, it -- it seems still very surreal to me, but I'm holding my own.

Jackson: You always do.

Erica: Thank you. Thank you very much for going with me to Tad's.

Jackson: Sure.

Erica: Thank you so much for being so wonderful with Opal.

Jackson: I was honored to be a part of it.

Erica: Get on with my what?

Opal: Finding the love of your life. He is out there somewhere, you know. Maybe you just ought to start looking.

Jackson: So, what do you think? Me, you, the Yacht Club catch of the day?

Erica: I would love to have dinner with you.

Jackson: I would be a fool to ask where this is coming from, wouldn't I?

Erica: Mm-hmm. Unless your goal is to ruin the moment.

Jackson: Oh, no. No. No, it's just that you've been so -- back and forth, so hot and cold, I --

Erica: I can't tell you how much I regret that.

Greenlee: Hey, Dad.

Jackson: Hi, sweetheart.

Greenlee: You don't have to pretend to be glad to see me.

Jackson: I'm always glad to see you.

Greenlee: You just don't always agree with my choices.

Jackson: And I'll see you at 7:00.

Erica: I can't wait. So are you proud of yourself? Did you sleep well, Greenlee, after you attacked poor Kendall like that?

Greenlee: "Poor" Kendall? Really? Uh-uh, I am not discussing this with you.

Erica: Fine. We'll discuss business instead.

Greenlee: Fine.

Erica: I want to push the launch of our new lines ahead.

Greenlee: You mean move up the deadline for the competition?

Erica: It's, uh, hardly a competition, but yes.

Greenlee: I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but I couldn't agree with you more. So when do you want to do this, uh, "make-off"?

Erica: I can be ready in a month.

Greenlee: You're on.

Jake: Hey.

Angie: David!

Jake: Gonna need one of these. There you go. Don't be shy.

David: So, let me guess. My meeting with Stan Mulverson --

Angie: Cancelled. But don't worry, because I've come in his place.

David: Goody. And these two clowns are the entertainment?

Angie: Oh, that's not nice. Now, I -- I invited them because I wanted it to feel more like a party. Ah, David, now, I know that it's not your birthday, but we thought you deserved a gift, anyway.

David: What is it?

Frankie: You got to open it and find out.

Jake: Yeah, you got to open it.

Angie: Now, I spent some quality time with the board going over your, uh, questionable activities over the past year, and I think that my input had a very big impact.

Jake: It did, and I have a little input in there as well.

Angie: Oh, yeah.

David: I'm sure you did.

Jake: And that's why we need these glasses, because we're gonna be doing a toast.

Angie: Yes. So, to the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine and to their top-notch decision-making. David Hayward, your medical license has been permanently revoked. You are no longer able to practice medicine. Cheers!

Jake: Cheers. It never gets old, the cheering.

Frankie: Never, right?

Stuart: Hello, Adam.

Adam: Stuart. What are you doing here?

Stuart: Visiting you. How's it going?

Adam: I'm in love, Stuart.

Stuart: I know. Brooke -- she's a wonderful woman.

Adam: But I'm married to Annie.

Stuart: Oh, well, I guess what you got to do is, uh, decide who's in your heart.

Adam: I let Brooke go, and it's -- it's killing me.

J.R.: Is Dad not with you?

Brooke: I left him in the park. He'll be home soon.

J.R.: Is he having a hard time about Palmer?

Brooke: Harder than you think.

J.R.: Are you ok?

Brooke: I'm moving out.

J.R.: Today? Why?

Brooke: It's time.

J.R.: Yeah. But -- but we've had such a great time with you in the house, and -- and what about Dad? You belong with my father. I know what's been going on with you guys.

Brooke: Nothing has been going on.

J.R.: He loves you, and you love him.

Brooke: It's not happening, all right? We've discussed it, and I'm not gonna stand by and let him ruin his marriage.

J.R.: He should have never said those vows in the first place.

Brooke: Well, he did, and it means something. Doesn't matter what either of you say.

J.R.: Can you please just take a second to think about this?

Brooke: A second? Heh! I've taken hours and days batting this around in my head. There isn't any option. I have to go.

J.R.: All right, fine. You'll be around. You'll still see my dad?

Brooke: I'm leaving Pine Valley.

Annie: Hey. One of the maids --

J.R.: They have names.

Annie: Whatever. She said that Brooke came home while I was in the shower.

J.R.: Yeah.

Annie: Well, was she with Adam?

J.R.: No.

Annie: Well, was she with Adam before? You know what? Forget it. I'll ask the goody-two-shoes myself.

J.R.: No, leave Brooke alone. Let me handle her.

Annie: Why does Brooke need to be handled?

J.R.: Why don't you just go away for a little bit? You know, go shopping or get a massage. Just -- just leave.

Annie: No. This is my house. I'm not going anywhere. J.R., what is go --

J.R.: I'm trying to get Brooke out of the house so we can be alone.

Annie: Ok, fine. I'll wait for you upstairs. Good luck.

J.R.: Thanks.

Stuart: I liked almost all of your wives, but Brooke -- she's my favorite. She's so smart. Her brain is only about half the size of her heart.

Adam: I broke that heart.

Stuart: No, her heart is still strong. Seems like she gave it to you again.

Adam: She says we can't be together.

Stuart: But she is with you, don't you see? Because you love her. Just like I'm here with you because you love me.

Adam: Oh. How can you say that? I shot you.

Stuart: Oh, you didn't mean that.

Adam: I miss you every day.

Stuart: Don't, because when you love someone, they stay with you forever. I'll always be in there, and so will Brooke.

Brooke: J.R., I'm glad you're here. I -- I'd like to ask you a favor. When you tell your father that I'm gone --

J.R.: When I tell him? He doesn't know?

Brooke: He knows I'm moving out of the house. He doesn't know that I'm leaving Pine Valley.

J.R.: Maybe you didn't tell him because you realize you're making a mistake.

Brooke: I didn't tell him because it would be too much, especially after Palmer. And I know your father. He would try and talk me out of it.

J.R.: Because he doesn't want you to go. None of us do.

Brooke: Either way, I'm going to be on a plane tonight, so -- if you would wait till then to tell him that I've gone?

J.R.: Do me a favor. Stay in town, ride this out.

Brooke: It doesn't have anything to do with me, does it? You still have your own issues with Annie.

J.R.: No. I mean, yes, but that's not what this is about.

Brooke: I'm sorry, J.R. I don't believe you. Be well. And please take good care of your father.

Erica: You didn't honestly think I'd let you launch a day ahead of me, did you?

Greenlee: It was worth a shot. So we agree, first launch has the advantage.

Erica: Yeah. So the only solution is that we launch --

Erica and Greenlee: Together.

Erica: I propose that we throw a big gala, and we both announce at the same time.

Greenlee: Sounds fair. And after, distributor buys will determine the victor.

Erica: Who upon victory will take over Fusion, and the loser walks away. Deal?

Greenlee: Deal.

Randi: Ciro just called and cancelled.

Erica: No explanation?

Randi: He said that he's got another photo shoot that takes priority.

Greenlee: Bummer.

Erica: Don't "bummer" me. You stole my photographer.

Greenlee: You don't own him, Erica. He's worked for both of us.

Amanda: Uh, is it time for lunch yet?

Erica: Look. If you're itching for a fight, you're gonna be really disappointed because with or without Ciro, I will win.

Greenlee: In your dreams. Fusion Natural's going to wipe the floor with Fusion glam, and then this company will finally return to what it was, what it's always been: Mine.

[Cell phone rings]

Erica: Hello? Yes, I'll be right there.

Greenlee: I have to win. This place is all I have left.

Annie: What happened with Brooke?

J.R.: She's leaving.

Annie: Good. Well, isn't that what you wanted, so we could be alone?

J.R.: She's not leaving the house. She's leaving town.

Annie: Really? Why?

J.R.: Why do you think? She didn't want to incinerate a marriage, no matter how much she loves Dad.

Annie: Excuse me?

J.R.: Oh, come on, don't act surprised.

Annie: That bitch.

J.R.: Brooke is 10 times the woman you'll ever be. He loves her, Annie. Why don't you let him be happy? Tell him you want out.

Annie: And just hand him over to that woman? No.

J.R.: Yes.

Annie: You want me to just throw away my entire future?

J.R.: You'll still have everything you had before. I'll make sure of it.

Annie: How?

J.R.: I'll give you money. I'll give you a place to stay, whatever you want.

Annie: And what about us?

J.R.: There is no us.

Annie: Would you stop lying to yourself? We have something, J.R., and you know it.

J.R.: You don't have the first clue of how I feel.

Annie: Give in. Tell Marissa it's over, and I'll let Adam go.

J.R.: No. No way.

Annie: You want me.

J.R.: I don't want you. I never did. I set you up.

Amanda: So David's really done?

Jake: Done.

Frankie: Baby, you should have seen the way my mom put Hayward in his place.

Jake: Your mother-in-law can be very scary when she wants to be.

Randi: Oh, believe me, I remember.

Jake: Let's -- let's move on. I don't want to talk about him anymore. It's making my stomach -- I want to talk about my wife and how beautiful you are right now.

Amanda: No, I know I'm really overdressed right now.

Jake: I was gonna say the opposite. I was gonna say you're underdressed. And I have one little question, Houston. Where's the bling?

Amanda: Uh, I had to take it off for the shoot. I'm sorry.

Jake: Oh. Are you sure you're not down here trolling for men with your wingman? Frankie, do a check.

Frankie: Ring check. Got 'em, coach.

Amanda: Come on, stop. You know I hate not wearing it.

Jake: Is that right? I just want to make sure none of the suckers around here get the wrong idea.

Amanda: Well, let's clear it up for them right now.

Frankie: All right, look. We got patients.

Jake: Yes, we have patients, because we're doctors and we work at the hospital. Bye, baby. Oh, did you ever hear back from that Amandafan person?

Amanda: Nope, not a peep.

Jake: That's good, right? Bye, ladies.

Frankie: See you.

Randi: Why didn't you tell him?

Amanda: Because I don't want him worried for no reason. Can we just get out of here?

Greenlee: Not exactly the face of a guy who got his job back.

[David hands Greenlee the paper Angie gave him]

Greenlee: I'm sorry.

David: You don't have to be sorry. This is just the beginning for me.

Brooke: Oh. Thank you for getting here so quickly.

Erica: Well, we're not in the habit of meeting up. Curiosity got the best of me.

Brooke: I, uh -- I need to ask you a favor. It concerns "Tempo." I'm -- I'm leaving the magazine.

Erica: But you just took it over.

Brooke: Well, there are -- some things, some issues that have come up that I have to work through, and it's really best for everyone if I go.

Erica: By "everyone," you mean Adam?

Brooke: Unfortunately, I don't have the time to find a replacement. So I was hoping that you, you know, because you have such extensive contact with the media, that -- that you would be able to give him some names and, you know, help him find a new editor.

Erica: Of course. What I won't be able to do for Adam is help him find a new you.

Brooke: Adam's married.

Erica: [Scoffs] To Annie.

Brooke: She doesn't have many fans in this town, does she?

Erica: No, she doesn't. Our friendship has been somewhat hampered by a rather large stab wound.

Brooke: You know, I know that, you know, you and Adam -- that you don't always get along.

Erica: But I will always consider him a friend.

Brooke: Good. He's gonna need one. He's not as -- he's not as strong as he used to be.

[Brooke sobs on Erica's shoulder]

Greenlee: How do you plan on getting your license back?

David: I'm really not worried about my license right now. I'm more focused on the big picture.

Greenlee: Translation?

David: I need to secure Pine Valley hospital once and for all.

Greenlee: How?

David: I'm gonna buy it.

Amanda: I don't get it. I left my ring right on top of my clothes. What could have happened to it?

Randi: Relax. We'll find it. I mean, we'll check the dressing rooms again. It's got to be here somewhere, right?

[Telephone rings]

Brooke: Sorry.

Erica: Oh, don't be. Come on, you're leaving the man you love. I think that warrants at least a few tears. And to answer your question, of course. Of course, the answer is yes. Of course, I will reach out to Adam as a friend and also to help him, you know, with the magazine.

Brooke: Thank you.

Erica: You're welcome. Is there anything else I can do?

Brooke: Well, I was thinking, um, maybe you could get a video camera, and we could put this on YouTube, you know -- Brooke and Erica have a moment.

Erica: Don't get used to it.

Brooke: Oh, I wouldn't dare.

Erica: What time's your flight?

Brooke: Uh, actually, I don't know. I haven't called the airlines yet.

Erica: Well, I have a charter standing by. Take it. Really, Brooke, all I have to do is make a phone call.

Brooke: Oh. I owe you.

Erica: Yeah, well, lucky for you, I don't need anything.

Brooke: What about Jackson Montgomery? Adam and I weren't the only ones getting close and bonding last night.

Erica: Ok, Brooke, I mean this in the kindest way possible. Shut up and take the flight.

Annie: You came on to me because you couldn't help yourself. What happened in D.C. was real.

J.R.: No. What happened in D.C. was a joke. I only slept with you to prove to my father that you were a lying, cheating user.

Annie: Really? Because from what I can recall, Adam wasn't there. It was just you and me.

J.R.: And a video camera. Yeah, that's right, I recorded the whole thing. You know what else I got on tape? You admitting to me how much you wanted me. I was so, so ready to show my father.

Annie: Why didn't you?

J.R.: Because Marissa almost saw it. I had to destroy it.

Annie: You son of a bitch! You will not get away with this! You are a sick, sick bastard! You sick son of a bitch! You will not get away with this! You are a sick, sick person!

[Annie and J.R. roll around on the bed kissing and tearing their clothes off]

Adam: What in God's name?
