Annie: I just can't believe I was so nervous last night. I mean, my testimony could not have gone any better.

J.R.: I told you.

Annie: But did you see the way they responded to me? I mean, I had members of Congress -- Congress -- hanging on my every word.

J.R.: And why shouldn't they be? You were calm and collected, compassionate.

Annie: Really?

[Knocking on door]

Waiter: Room service.

Annie: You ordered room service?

J.R.: Yeah, I called it in before we left. I figured a celebratory brunch was in order. Yes, just put it on the table there.

Annie: But what if, you know, I hadn't done well?

J.R.: I knew you would. How about some champagne?

Annie: Yes. I would love some. What about you, though?

J.R.: I've got that covered. It's not as much fun, but it has bubbles.

Annie: Uh-huh.

Waiter: Will there be anything else?

J.R.: No, I think that's everything for now. Can you do me a favor and make sure no calls come to this room? Ok, thanks.

Brooke: Need a little help with that?

Adam: What in blazes are you doing out of bed?

Brooke: I feel great. All right, I feel better. Which is why I am going with you to court today.

Adam: No, Brooke, no --

Brooke: Yes, I am. You need support.

Adam: Brooke --

Brooke: Have you ever been able to talk me out of anything?

[Adam grumbles]

Brooke: No. And anyway, save your energy for the trial.

Adam: Yeah.

Brooke: Let me see.

Adam: Hmm. What was that for?

Brooke: For last night. For that video conference that you set up with Laura and Jamie.

Adam: Your children needed to see you. And more importantly, you needed to see them.

Brooke: It meant the world to me. Thank you.

Adam: Yeah.

David: I trust everything's in order.

Liza: Not everything.

David: Hmm. I trust you haven't heard from my wife.

Liza: If I were you, I'd wipe that smile off your face, because Greenlee is the only character witness that we have. Listen, if you have heard from her --

David: I haven't, and even if I had --

Liza: You wouldn't tell me.

David: That's why I pay you those big bucks, Liza. So intuitive. That, and because I am confident you're gonna get me off.

Bailiff: All rise. The honorable Judge Pat Meyers presiding.

Jackson: Excuse me. Have you seen Ryan Lavery anywhere? There he is.

Ryan: Hey. Want to start the day with a little blackJack?

Jackson: Yeah, no, actually. I have left a dozen messages for Greenlee. I haven't heard a thing. Do you have any idea where she is?

Ryan: That is probably because she's out of range.

Jackson: Out of range where?

Ryan: Mallorca.

Jackson: Spain? Ryan, why would she be in s -- she went looking for Kendall.

Ryan: That's what we think. Yes.

Jackson: What do you mean "we"? Erica?

Ryan: Greenlee ransacked Erica's office and she found a photograph of Kendall and Zach's yacht. She took the name of the yacht, and she ran with it, literally.

Jackson: You know what? My daughter deserves the truth. And Kendall deserves to be the one to tell her.

Ryan: I'm not arguing with that, Jack.

Jackson: Yeah. Well, I don't think Erica shares that sentiment. Oh. Should probably try to find her and talk her down.

Ryan: I think she might be out of range, too.

Jackson: She didn't.

Ryan: Oh, yeah. She did.

[Telephone ringing]

Kendall: Hello?

Erica: Oh, Kendall, thank God.

Kendall: Mom, where are you? The connection is terrible.

Erica: I'm at the airport.

Kendall: Fun. Where are you headed?

Erica: To see you. But my plane was delayed on the runway.

Kendall: You're coming here? To Spain?

Erica: Oh, I am here. I'm here in Spain. Honey, listen. There's something that you really need to know. Kendall? Kendall?

Kendall: Oh, my God.

Erica: Kendall? Kendall? Kendall, can you hear me?

Greenlee: Surprise.

Kendall: I don't -- you're really here.

Greenlee: In the flesh.

Kendall: Oh, my -- I can't believe this is happening. What? How? Greenlee, we all thought that you were --

Greenlee: I know. David Hayward found me that night.

Kendall: Alive.

Greenlee: Barely, but yeah.

Kendall: And then what? He didn't take you to a hospital?

Greenlee: He took care of me himself.

Kendall: Why? Where? This doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn't he tell us? Why wouldn't you? It's been over a year.

Greenlee: I was in a coma for most of it. David kept quiet because he didn't know if I'd even survive.

Kendall: So he just hid you away and said nothing?

Greenlee: He did the right thing. Did you want to go through the pain of losing me twice?

Kendall: But we didn't lose you. Oh, my God. Greenlee, this is so unreal.

Greenlee: It's been an interesting couple of months.

Kendall: Months? You've been back for that long? You have no idea how much I've missed you.

Greenlee: Don't.

Ryan: Sorry about that.

Jackson: Why didn't you stop Erica?

Ryan: It's not my job to chase after Erica.

Jackson: Not even to protect my daughter?

Ryan: I was fired from that position, remember?

Jackson: Ryan -- Greenlee needs you.

Ryan: She says she can take care of herself, Jack.

Jackson: And normally I would say that might be true, but this is too big. When she finds out that Kendall was driving the car that caused that accident, she's -- if it comes out wrong, Ryan, she's gonna need to turn to someone, and it's not gonna be me. You still love her?

Ryan: Apparently, that doesn't matter.

Jackson: That's all that matters. Be there for her.

Ryan: She doesn't want me anywhere near this.

Jackson: Ryan, she doesn't know what the hell she wants. And when all the smoke clears from this, she will, and what she wants, what she's always wanted, is you.

Ryan: I'm done. She says she wants to move on, and I gotta respect that.

D.A.: And what did the subsequent analysis reveal?

Jesse: That the pills that Adam Chandler was taking were not the pills prescribed to him.

D.A.: So, what were they, Chief Hubbard?

Jesse: A mixture of digitalis and benzodiazepine.

D.A.: Isn't that a dangerous combination?

Liza: Objection, your honor. Chief Hubbard is not a doctor.

D.A.: No further questions, your honor.

Judge Meyers: Counselor, your witness.

Liza: Chief Hubbard, can you please explain how the pills were obtained for analysis?

Jesse: As far as I know, David Hayward made up a -- a second concoction and gave them to Zach Slater.

Liza: As far as you know. So, you weren't actually there when the transaction occurred?

Jesse: No, I was not.

Liza: Oh. And as far as you were told, only Zach Slater was. Is that correct?

Jesse: Besides Hayward, yes.

Liza: And where is Mr. Slater now?

Jesse: Out of the country with his family.

Liza: Well, then, would it be fair to say that without Zach Slater's testimony, there really is no direct evidence connecting my client to the medication taken by Adam Chandler? Chief Hubbard?

Jesse: Yes, it would be fair.

Liza: No further questions.

Judge Meyers: You may step down.

David: Nice work, Counselor.

D.A.: Prosecution calls Gayle Walker to the stand.

Liza: Now comes the fun stuff.

Annie: Me, a hero. I seriously almost turned around to see if the congresswoman was talking to somebody behind me. And I'm gonna do it. What she said -- I'm gonna go talk to children about being compassionate and about being generous. I think maybe I'll even contact Emma's principal when we get home.

J.R.: You should.

Annie: Mmm. Ahh. What a day.

J.R.: It's not over yet. We still have the reception at the British Embassy.

Annie: God. You really think the president's gonna be there?

J.R.: That's what Congressman Wilton said.

Annie: I can't believe we might meet the president. [Gasps] What am I gonna wear?

J.R.: What are you talking about? You look great.

Annie: No, the subcommittee has already seen me in this dress. I mean, I brought another dress, but that was just for a dinner, not for some fancy government reception. What about my hair? Do you think there's a salon in the hotel?

J.R.: Annie? You could put on a brown paper bag and a skullcap, and you'd still be the most gorgeous woman there. How 'bout a toast?

Annie: Toast to what?

J.R.: To you.

[Glasses clink]

D.A.: Your testimony before the state medical board in which you took full responsibility for switching Adam Chandler's medication. Is that your signature?

Gayle: Yes.

D.A.: Were you telling the truth?

Gayle: No, I was not.

D.A.: Why did you lie under oath, Ms. Walker?

Gayle: To protect Dr. Hayward.

D.A.: Protect him from what?

Gayle: Being charged with a crime and losing his medical license.

D.A.: So you're saying David Hayward was the one drugging Adam Chandler?

Gayle: I watched him mix the digitalis and benzodiazepine myself.

D.A.: And then what happened?

Gayle: David fixed it so that I was assigned to Mr. Chandler as his in-home nurse. He then gave me the new meds with instructions to give them to Mr. Chandler.

D.A.: Did Dr. Hayward explain the reason for his actions?

Gayle: He wanted Mr. Chandler to become confused, disoriented.

D.A.: Why?

Gayle: So that he'd be declared unfit. David's grandson was living with Mr. Chandler at the time. He wanted --

D.A.: Dr. Hayward.

Gayle: He wanted full custody of the boy.

D.A.: So you're saying David Hayward admitted to you he was deliberately drugging Adam Chandler?

Gayle: That's correct.

D.A.: Are you aware, Ms. Walker, that while under the influence of these drugs, Mr. Chandler shot and killed his own brother?

Liza: Objection, your honor. Facts not in evidence.

Judge Meyers: Sustained. Counselor, you know better.

D.A.: My apologizes, your honor. No more questions.

Judge Meyers: Your witness.

Liza: Any final thoughts?

David: Don't mess it up.

J.R.: Still thinking about what to wear tonight?

Annie: I was thinking about Brooke. And Adam. What's happening back home. Crazy, right?

J.R.: What is?

Annie: That I'm focused on that right now. I mean, hello? Look at us, J.R. We are in this beautiful hotel, in this incredible town with history everywhere around us. I mean, can you feel that?

J.R.: Yeah, it's pretty amazing.

Annie: Yeah, I mean, the power. The energy. People are making decisions around us right this second that affect this country. No, no, what am I saying? Affect this world. It just -- oh, just makes Pine Valley seem so -- insignificant somehow.

J.R.: You did a really good thing today.

Annie: I know. You know how I know? Because people told me. They commended me. They made me feel -- really special instead of -- instead of making me feel like I'm a nuisance.

J.R.: Hmm. Is that how you feel at home?

Annie: It's pretty much how I felt my entire life. Until today. I know what you're thinking right now. About me.

J.R.: Prove it.

Liza: So you told the medical board that my client was innocent?

Gayle: Yes.

Liza: And now you've changed your story.

Gayle: Yes.

Liza: So, were you lying then or are you lying now?

Gayle: At David's request, I covered for him with the board. Everything I've said in today's court is the truth.

Liza: Ms. Walker, have you been promised immunity for your testimony today?

Gayle: Yes.

Liza: So basically, it's a win for you either way.

D.A.: Objection. Argumentative.

Liza: Withdrawn. So, you've lied for my client here. I guess the next question would be why? Why perjure yourself?

Gayle: Dr. Hayward can be extremely -- persuasive. He has a very strong personality.

Liza: So is that why you continued to work for Dr. Hayward after you lost your medical privileges? Because of his strong personality?

Gayle: You could say that.

Liza: Actually, I'm more interested in what you have to say. So, what were you doing up in Gloucester?

Gayle: I was taking care of a patient of his. Greenlee Smythe.

Liza: Greenlee Smythe. Now Greenlee Hayward, correct? Ms. Walker? Is that the patient that you were looking after is now Dr. Hayward's wife?

Gayle: Yes. That's correct.

Greenlee: I can't do the whole happy reunion thing right now.

Kendall: You're angry.

Greenlee: Just trying to catch up. A lot happened while I was gone.

Kendall: If you're angry because I didn't come back home to see you, Greenlee, I swear, I had no idea you were back. I mean, come on. You saw the look on my face when you walked in here.

Greenlee: Like you'd seen a ghost.

Kendall: Exactly. You. I've only been in touch with my mom these past few months. And she did not tell me you were alive.

Greenlee: Oh, I believe it.

Kendall: Why wouldn't she have told me?

Greenlee: I don't know, Kendall. Why do you think? Seriously, just lob one out there.

Kendall: Is it because of her and Ryan? Did you two fight --

Greenlee: I couldn't care less about Ryan, ok?

Kendall: Ok -- since when?

Greenlee: Since I married David Hayward.

Annie: Everything looks so different here, don't you think? I mean, the lights. People. It's so easy to get swept up in it all. But the reality is, nothing has changed.

J.R.: How do you mean?

Annie: Well, you almost had me with that toast of yours. Telling me what a great job I did today. And I really wanted to believe you.

J.R.: But you didn't.

Annie: It's that thing you do. It's that thing you do with your eyes. It's like you -- you look right through me or something. I -- I can't explain it.

J.R.: Why don't you try?

Annie: No, what I am saying is, I know I'm never going to be able to change what you think of me.

J.R.: Which is?

Annie: Oh, which is that I am, I don't know, a selfish, two-faced bitch? Good guess?

J.R.: You couldn't be more wrong.

Annie: Hmm. Really.

J.R.: Yeah. When I saw you in front of Congress -- you were brave, smart, and generous. I mean it. I mean, I was honestly impressed. So, if I was looking into you, though I am pretty sure I don't have that secret power, I want you to know that's what I saw.

Annie: I haven't been this -- happy in a really long time.

J.R.: Yeah, well, it looks good on you.

Annie: Well, thanks. Well, it feels even better. It feels really good to look in the mirror and like the person staring back at me. I'd forgotten what that felt like. And if I'm being honest, which, bizarrely enough, I am, I, um -- I owe all that to you.

J.R.: You owe me?

Annie: I know it sounds weird, but, if you think about it, if you hadn't gotten sick, I wouldn't have been able to help you. And I wouldn't be standing here right now -- feeling like this. So, thank you.

J.R.: For having cancer?

Annie: No, that's not what I mean --

J.R.: I'm kidding. But if anyone should be thanking anyone here -- you saved me, Annie.

Annie: Maybe we saved each other.

Liza: So you're saying that this was more just a professional relationship?

Gayle: Yes.

Liza: Did you care --

Jackson: So how's it going?

Jesse: Looks like the nurse is starting to crack.

Gayle: Yes.

Liza: Did you have sex with my client, Ms. Walker? I'll repeat the question. Did you have sex with Dr. Hayward?

Gayle: Yes.

Liza: Did you love him?

Gayle: I did.

Liza: Did he love you?

D.A.: Objection. Ms. Walker can't attest to what the defendant did or did not feel.

Liza: All right. I will rephrase the question. Did Dr. Hayward ever tell you that he loved you?

Gayle: No, but I knew.

Liza: You knew. You knew. And yet, he married another woman. How did that make you feel?

Gayle: Hurt. Angry.

Liza: Angry. Angry enough to change your story? To lie to the police?

Gayle: I wasn't lying.

Liza: And how do you feel about Dr. Hayward now? Do you hate him?

Gayle: No. I just want him to pay for what he did.

Liza: What he did to you, isn't that correct?

D.A.: Objection. Badgering the witness.

Liza: Let's be honest. He broke your heart and you wanted revenge.

Gayle: Yes! All right? I want revenge. That man deserves to rot for what he did to me.

Liza: No further questions.

Tad: Afternoon, boss.

Ryan: You care to join me?

Tad: No, I think I'll wait for something remotely resembling happy hour. I'm all over these, though. What's the problem? Somebody hit it at the slot machines or something?

Ryan: No, nobody hit it big all day.

Tad: That's good for us, right?

Ryan: Jackson came by earlier, and we got into it a little bit over Greenlee. Apparently, she's run off to do something pretty foolish.

Tad: That sounds about right.

Ryan: Something that could actually end up hurting her, and because I'm not going after her, all of a sudden I'm the bad guy.

Tad: Come on. We know that's not true.

Ryan: Because Greenlee's not my responsibility anymore.

Tad: Well, maybe Jackson wishes she were. Can't say as I blame him. Son-in-law like Hayward, that'd be any father's worst nightmare.

Ryan: Yeah. You want to know what else is a father's worst nightmare? Being kept from your own kid.

Kendall: I don't understand.

Greenlee: Join the club.

Kendall: David Hayward is your husband?

Greenlee: Ding.

Kendall: Of all people. Ok, now, this -- this is crazy.

Greenlee: I've heard crazier, believe me.

Kendall: Come on, Greenlee. You can't honestly love him.

Greenlee: David saved my life. Another club we both belong to, by the way.

Kendall: Ok, so, what? This is some weird form of gratitude?

Greenlee: No. We're good together.

Kendall: You and David?! No. No, something had to have happened. Something to make you do this. You did this out of spite.

Greenlee: Excuse me?

Kendall: You came back to find Ryan with my mother, so you married David as payback.

Greenlee: Wow. You think you've got it all figured out.

Kendall: No? Well, then, please, please, explain this to me.

Erica: I'd be happy to do the honors.

Greenlee: Ugh. Perfect. Hey, Erica, what brings you here?

Erica: I am so glad to see you.

Kendall: Mother -- Mother, are you kidding me right now? Are you kidding me? How could you not tell me about Greenlee?

Ryan: The thing is, it's -- I mean, it's definitely partially my fault. I signed up for it. I mean, I agreed to it.

Tad: That's not true. Spike hadn't seen his mother in months, right? You're in the middle of a custody battle for Emma. It makes sense that you want to get your son out of the line of fire.

Ryan: Well, out of the line of fire is one thing, but out of the country? I mean, it wasn't supposed to go on this long.

Tad: Well, what did Kendall say when you called her on it?

Ryan: I'd actually have to make contact with Kendall to find that out.

Tad: So you haven't been in touch?

Ryan: Well, she's tried. I've tried. She tries when, you know, I'm asleep or she knows I'm busy doing something, and I'm not saying -- I'm not saying they kidnapped Spike or anything.

Tad: I know you're not.

Ryan: It's just that they definitely weren't straight with me, and I didn't sign up for this, and I miss my son, and it's time for me to go and see him.

Erica: Your relationship with Zach was so tenuous, so -- fragile. And I wanted to give you the time that you had asked for, so that the four of you could start to rebuild your lives.

Kendall: Yes, Mother, that was the plan. But come on. Plans change. You don't think that I would've wanted to know about this?

Erica: And if I had told you about Greenlee, you would've hopped on the very next plane, immediately.

Kendall: Yes, of course, I would have.

Erica: And you would have put your family in jeopardy.

Kendall: Mom, this -- I don't even know what this is. How long were you planning on not telling me?

Erica: As long as I had to.

Kendall: So you found out where I was somehow and came looking for me.

Erica: Even though I told her that you were not to be disturbed.

Kendall: Oh, my God. Mother, this is my best friend we're talking about, ok? My best friend. Not housekeeping.

Erica: I don't think you understand.

Kendall: No, I don't.

Erica: Greenlee has been acting irrationally ever since she came back. Every moment.

Greenlee: I have been irrational? You're the one who's twisted yourself in knots -- keeping secrets from your own daughter.

Erica: I presume that Greenlee has told you about her recent marriage.

Greenlee: Ok, here we go.

Erica: David Hayward. The man who has ultimately caused so much horror into all of our lives, and that's not even the worst of it. Greenlee has been lashing out left and right, making everyone's lives completely miserable.

Greenlee: And by "everyone" I assume you mean you?

Erica: Oh --

Kendall: Mom, I'm sure life has not been the same for Greenlee since she's been back to Pine Valley. I mean, did you really expect her to embrace all of the changes with open arms?

Erica: Ryan and I ended things long before we even knew that Greenlee was --

Greenlee: Can we cut the crap? Please? I've had more kicks to the gut than just you and Ryan, and you know it.

Annie: Who would've thought, huh? You, of all people, would make me realize it's still possible to like myself.

J.R.: I'm glad that you're in a good place.

Annie: Well, I almost wasn't. I mean -- I almost didn't -- I told you I had very mixed emotions about giving you my bone marrow. You know, because of how I felt about you.

J.R.: But at the end of the day, you stepped up.

Annie: Except I didn't do it for you. I did it for Adam, or at least that's what I told myself. When in reality, I did it for me. To make Adam love me more. You want to know what's worse? I, um -- I told you how much I hated you when you were lying there unconscious. Yeah. Yup, I ripped into you on your deathbed. Classy.

[J.R. chuckles]

Annie: Ha. Oh.

J.R.: The feeling was mutual. Ha ha ha ha. You see what we did there, though? "Hated." "Was." Why don't we keep those feelings in the past where they belong? What do you say?

Annie: I say that sounds nice.

Annie: We should go.

J.R.: Yeah?

Annie: I'm gonna go get ready.

D.A.: Prosecution calls Adam Chandler.

Adam: Nurse Walker was on me all the time. Diligent about me taking my pills.

D.A.: Pills which you thought were your prescribed heart medication?

Adam: I had no idea I was taking a lethal combination of drugs.

D.A.: Is it true that, under the influence of these drugs, you killed your own brother, Stuart Chandler?

Adam: Yes, it's true.

D.A.: That must have been extremely difficult.

Adam: It was the worst moment of my life.

D.A.: Thank you, Mr. Chandler. No further questions.

Liza: Adam -- do you mind if I call you Adam?

Adam: You always have. Except when you decided to use another colorful combination of words.

Liza: So, I know being here brings up some painful memories, so I will try to keep this brief. Do you blame my client for the death of your brother?

Adam: No. No. I would like to. But I can't. I am responsible for Stuart's death. No one else. I can name some other crimes that Hayward has pulled, like --

Liza: Adam --

Adam: Drugging me senseless and trying to steal my grandson.

Judge Meyers: Mr. Chandler, please, answer the questions as asked and don't elaborate.

Liza: So is it true that prior to David's arrest, he was living at your house?

Adam: Yes.

Liza: And you were aware of this fact, correct?

Adam: Correct.

Liza: Were you also aware that he was a fugitive from the law?

Adam: Yes.

Liza: And yet, you continued to hide him and keep his secret.

Adam: Hmm.

Liza: Adam?

Adam: Yes, I did.

Liza: Adam, are you all right?

Adam: Let's just get this over with, all right?

Liza: Um, well, if you were certain that Dr. Hayward was guilty of drugging you, why continue to hide him from the authorities?

Adam: I've been having trouble with my heart recently. And David Hayward, aside from his faults, which are many, happens to be an excellent cardiologist. I was using him to keep me alive.

Liza: Thank you, Adam.

[Knocking on door]

Annie: J.R.? It's Annie.

[Door opens]

Annie: Oh. I'm sorry. I'll let you finish getting dressed.

J.R.: No. Don't worry. Just come on in.

Annie: I can't get this zipper for the life of me.

J.R.: All right. Let me take a shot at it. Let me see here.

Annie: Is it stuck or something?

J.R.: It might've caught on some fabric or something.

[Annie gasps]

J.R.: My hands are cold. Sorry.

Annie: Freezing.

J.R.: Well, you know what they say. Cold hands, warm heart.

D.A.: Just to clarify, the sole reason you agreed to harbor Dr. Hayward was to ensure the safety of your health?

Adam: Haven't we been over this?

D.A.: I'm just trying to avoid any confusion.

Adam: He was there for my heart. It was my heart. That's why he was there. For my heart.

D.A.: So your opinion of the defendant hasn't changed? You still blame him for your brother's death?

Adam: Stuart --

J.R.: Success.

Annie: Thank you.

J.R.: You're welcome.

D.A.: Shall I repeat the question, Mr. Chandler?

Adam: I'm sorry. What?

David: You need to get him off that stand, now.

Liza: Your honor, I don't think the witness is feeling very well.

J.R.: Can't believe you weren't sure about that dress. You look -- you look amazing.

Annie: Thank you. I already said that, didn't I?

Judge Meyers: Mr. Chandler, should we take a recess?

Adam: Uhh --

Liza: Adam.

[Brooke gasps]

Kendall: Mom, can you leave us alone for a little while, please?

Erica: Honey, I just got here.

Kendall: I know that. I know. And I know you're just trying to protect me. But Greenlee and I have a lot of catching up to do.

Erica: All right. But for the record, I have got to tell you I think this is a horrible idea. I'm at the Hotel El Mar. You call me if you need anything. Like a restraining order.

[Door closes]

Kendall: You know, don't you? About me and Ryan.

Tad: You know, if you need help finding Kendall, I know a half-decent P.I.

Ryan: Erica said they were last in Mallorca, and I have the name of the yacht. Thank you. Jackson, it's Ryan. I just wanted to let you know I'm on my way to Spain.

[Romantic music playing]

J.R.: What are you feeling?

Annie: Right this second? You.

Singer: Playing a part where do I go to show you the way is what you're about exactly the same all that I want and all that I am just when I know you I don't

Liza: Oh, God, Adam, Adam, can you hear me? Open your eyes. Open your eyes. Wake up.

David: Let go of me!

Liza: Wake up.

Brooke: Is he breathing? Is he breathing?

Liza: No, barely.

Jesse: Paramedics are on their way.

Judge Meyers: Everyone, stay calm.

Brooke: Hang on, Adam, ok? Hang on.

Bailiff: Not today. Paramedics will be here any minute.

David: If we wait, this man is going to die.
