Marissa: Thank you.
Krystal: Hey.
Marissa: Hey.
Krystal: How you holding up?
Marissa: Oh, I just -- I can't believe that they found a match for J.R., just when I thought that there was no chance. And now that the transplant is happening tonight --
Colby: Yeah, and we can't even thank this mystery donor.
Krystal: Well, God bless 'em, whoever they are.
Marissa: God, I don't know how I'm going to stand it -- the waiting.
Tad: Well, look at the bright side, sweetheart. At least we get to watch the clock together.
Krystal: Yeah.
Colby: And at least the family that matters is here. While Annie couldn't care less about what we're going through.
Scott: Colby --
Colby: Come on, Scott, think about it. A total stranger is on an operating table about to save J.R.'s life, and stepmommy dearest is on a massage table.
Brooke: I finally get why you're so grateful to Annie. She's J.R.'s bone marrow donor, isn't she? And you don't want anyone to know.
Adam: J.R. despises Annie. Everyone knows that.
Brooke: Let me guess. He didn't even want to consider her as a donor?
Adam: No, and she was the closest match they found.
Brooke: Well, what people think about Annie now doesn't matter, because everyone only wants one thing, and that is for J.R. to pull through.
Adam: But you can't let anyone know that.
Brooke: Ok, ok. If you think that's best.
Adam: I'm not going to allow anybody to do anything that gets in the way of saving J.R. No.
Brooke: I know this has been a very difficult past few days. How are you?
Adam: I'm fine. I've got a -- I've got a headache, that's all.
Brooke: A headache? Nothing more?
Adam: Huh. Nothing changes. Still overly protective, as always.
Brooke: Adam, I know how much this is taking out of you, all right? But J.R. needs you strong, because he's fighting for his life right now. Just like you've had to fight for yours, more than once.
Jesse: You are one tough woman to track down, Angela.
Angie: Oh, hey.
Jesse: Hey.
Angie: Listen, I'm sorry that I haven't returned your calls. It's just been absolutely crazy around here.
Jesse: Oh, baby, no worries. I was in the neighborhood, anyway, so I figured I'd stop in in person, share this news with you.
Angie: What? What's going on?
Jesse: Well, it looks like David Hayward might finally be going down.
Ryan: I'm tracking her right now.
Jake: Wow, that's impressive. How do you do that?
Ryan: I got a GPS on my cell phone, all right, so I slipped my cell phone in Greenlee's purse, and as long as the phone stays on, we know exactly where she is. And she leads us straight to Hayward.
Jake: That's very James Bond. I like it. I like it. She's not going to like it when she finds out she's being tailed, but --
Ryan: No, she's not going to like it at all, but I don't think Greenlee can get any angrier, so --
Jake: Really? Have you met her? She's like this tall, just a little fireball temper.
Ryan: Yeah, well, Greenlee's the only one that Hayward trusts right now, so she's our best shot of finding the guy. This is weird. This is so strange.
Jake: What?
Ryan: Well, where she is -- that's Erica's new penthouse address, so -- what the hell is Greenlee doing there?
Greenlee: [Laughs loudly] Am I interrupting something, Erica? Huh. Is your latest boy toy coming over for dinner?
Erica: You won't find David here.
Greenlee: David? Last I saw him, he was running for his life.
Erica: Yes, he ran right over here. I'm sure you know that. Otherwise, why would you be here?
Greenlee: David doesn't deserve to have these useless crimes pinned on him. But I'm not worried. He'll get away. He's smarter than all of your little lynch mob put together.
Erica: Let's not play games, Greenlee.
Greenlee: I'm not the one in cuffs.
Erica: We both know that somewhere in this room, David has left you a clue for you to find him. Not long ago, Greenlee, you suggested that we put aside our differences for Fusion. Why don't we do that now?
Greenlee: Wow! I actually think this is your version of groveling.
Erica: You may not believe this, but I want what you want. I want David to get away. So un-cuff me. I'll help you find what you're looking for.
Brooke: Scott told me about your heart problems.
Adam: Oh, that's all in the past.
Brooke: Is that attitude the reason that you've been in and out of the hospital for months?
Adam: I've had a bad year. It was a bad year, but as you can see, I'm -- I'm -- recovered.
Brooke: Uh-huh. Haven't you learned after all these years that you are not invincible? Adam, you don't have to pretend with me. I know what this family has lost. And the last thing that J.R. needs is to have his father admitted to the hospital in the room next to him.
Adam: All right, all right. All right, I appreciate your -- your concern, your worrying about me, but I don't need it. Save it for J.R.
Scott: Any news?
Adam: J.R.'s being prepped for the transplant.
Marissa: Oh, wow, it's finally happening.
Adam: J.R. needs us now. He needs to know we believe in him. That we're all waiting for him to come back to us.
Jesse: Ryan, Jake, and Erica recruited David's go-to nurse for help.
Angie: Gayle Walker? I thought she left town.
Jesse: Well, apparently, she came back for the mighty revenge.
Angie: Against David, for marrying Greenlee?
Jesse: Well, it worked. We got the name of the guy who helped David swap the corpse for Greenlee.
Angie: Yeah, well, I can't imagine that David gave up the name willingly.
Jesse: No, it was a team effort. Ryan was the one that conned the name out of him. But with Gayle and this coroner, we have a warrant out for David's arrest.
Angie: So where is David now?
Jesse: Hmm.
Angie: He went on the run?
Jesse: We're out looking for him now. He's going to the state pen for this, ok? So you don't have to worry. I'm sure he's more concerned about saving his own ass than harassing you ever again.
Angie: No, I'm sure you'll find him.
Jesse: Then what's wrong?
Angie: Um -- I don't know -- you just sort of caught me at a bad time, that's all.
Jesse: You still worried about J.R.? How's he doing?
Angie: Well, he's going to get a bone marrow transplant from an anonymous donor.
Jesse: Well, that's great.
Angie: Yeah. Listen, baby, I got to get back to work. Bye.
Jesse: Bye.
Jake: But why would David go to -- go to Erica's?
Ryan: Well, Erica isn't exactly his favorite right now. It was her pretending to be shot that made him give up the name of the coroner.
Jake: And he loves his revenge.
Ryan: Yes, he does, which is why I need to get over there right now.
Jake: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Maybe I should go, instead.
Ryan: I can handle Greenlee's little temper, don't worry.
Jake: And you sure you want to do that?
Ryan: Yes. I'm sure. You're not exactly her favorite right now, either, so --
Jake: No, I'm just saying the, you know, objective is to get her back, right?
Ryan: Yes, it is, eventually.
Jake: Ok, but just -- I'm just saying, just think a minute. Think it through, ok? You don't want to push her further away. I've been exactly where you are right now -- in the doghouse because I had nothing but Hayward all up in my brain.
Ryan: No, I got to go after the bastard, whether she likes it or not.
Greenlee: David is too smart to let anyone track him down. And even if there were a way to find him, do you think I'd put my husband at risk like that? You know, this is quite a little place you got here.
Erica: That's why you're looking for something. Something that only you and David would understand. You don't really expect me to believe that this was just a coincidence, that you happened to come over here right after David left me like this, do you?
Greenlee: I think he just knew I'd love the sight of you cuffed in a chair. And since he gave me such a good laugh, I mean, the least I can do is get rid of his fingerprints.
Erica: Well, go ahead, search the place. I told you, I want David to run away. Especially if he drags your sorry ass out of town with him.
Greenlee: Yeah, then you'd have Fusion all to yourself. Don't you know I'd rather break a nail than give you a happy ending like that?
Erica: Oh, you think David left his prints all over my roses?
Greenlee: You can never be too careful.
Erica: Did you find what you're looking for, Greenlee? You might as well tell me where David is. It's not going to stay a secret for long.
Greenlee: This might be a shock, Erica, but not everyone loves the sound of your voice as much as you do.
Erica: I really do care about David. I hate to think the next time I see him will be at his trial.
Greenlee: You know, as much as it pains me to admit it, you're right, Erica. I was hoping that David would leave me a clue as to where he went, but nope. All he left was this. [Laughs] Oh, it's like a dream come true. Lock you up and throw away the key.
Erica: We're both adults here, Greenlee. Let's act it. Un-cuff me.
Greenlee: You're right. You're right. It would be childish to leave you like this. But you know what? This child likes you right where you are.
Erica: Greenlee, don't -- Greenlee! Gree -- Greenlee, come on back! Don't leave me like this! Oh!
[Elevator door opens]
[Elevator door closes]
[Erica sighs]
Ryan: Oh, my --
Erica: Oh, Ryan! Thank God! The key -- it's right there. See it?
Ryan: Can you please tell me this was Hayward, and not Greenlee? Was this --
Erica: Oh, she's just his sadistic little accomplice.
Ryan: Ok.
Erica: Ah. Follow her, Ryan! Go! Go after her!
Ryan: Don't you worry about Greenlee.
Erica: Because then you'll find him.
Ryan: Don't worry about Greenlee. I know exactly how to find her.
Jake: You busy? So, have you heard about David?
Angie: Yeah, Jesse called me.
Jake: So, what's the long face for, then?
Angie: Well, I am really glad that you have a chance to get David.
Jake: Yeah. But -- well, is there a "but" here or something?
Angie: But you know that it's not over yet.
Jake: No, he's out there, and I'm sure he'd love to retaliate, but Jesse will get him before he has a chance to retaliate.
Angie: Yeah, I hope so.
Jake: You hope so? Ange, hold on a second. Now, you and I -- we've been through World War Haywards, part one and two together, right? I'm not saying it's time to raise a glass of champagne or anything, but you know -- not exactly the reaction I was hoping to get out of the woman whose job he's been trying to steal. Is it something else? Is it -- you know, you can talk to me.
Angie: You know, I've been thinking about how I became chief of staff. And it was mainly to protect this hospital, protect this place from David.
Jake: Mm-hmm. And also because you're the best one for the job.
Angie: Really? What about you?
Jake: What about me?
Dr. Kahn: J.R.'s been prepped for the procedure. We should be ready to begin shortly.
Colby: So, what's going to happen?
Dr. Kahn: A bone marrow transplant is similar to a blood infusion. It'll be fed into J.R.'s central vein through an IV, and then it will migrate into the cavities in J.R.'s long bones that the chemos created.
Adam: How soon will we know if the transplant worked?
Dr. Kahn: The next few days are the most critical. J.R.'s been through an intense round of chemo and radiation to decimate the cancerous cells. So his immune system is weakened. Once the donor's marrow has been engrafted, hopefully, it'll build back up again. I'll keep you posted as things progress.
Scott: Ok, well, at least now, J.R. has a fighting chance.
Marissa: God, I'm almost too afraid to hope. What if the transplant doesn't work?
Krystal: Ok, come on now. You're not going to help yourself, or J.R., by thinking that way.
Tad: Yeah, Krystal's right. Stay positive. J.R. is going to make it.
Colby: Dad, do you think the donor is still in the hospital? I -- I wanted --
Adam: Oh, the donor wishes to remain anonymous. We have to respect that.
Colby: Dad, this person is about to save J.R.'s life. Shouldn't we at least say "thank you" or --
Adam: Well, yes. You're right, you're right. And don't worry. I'll see that we express our gratitude somehow. Ok?
[Monitor beeps steadily]
Krystal: Here, drink. [Sighs]
Marissa: Thank you. I -- I don't mean just for the water. For everything. [Sighs]
Krystal: It's what moms do. I mean, I know I have to earn that title, but I want you to know that you can count on me.
Marissa: I'm sorry that you and I haven't spent much time together lately. I've just been so focused on J.R.
Krystal: Would you hush? Are you kidding me? I -- I wish there was more that I could do for you.
Marissa: Can you make me more like you?
Krystal: Why would you want that?
Marissa: You're just always so steady in moments like this. You know, I can barely keep it together.
Krystal: Oh, no, no. No, you -- you are so wrong. Marissa, you are the one keeping everybody else together.
Marissa: Oh, no.
Krystal: When you learned that J.R. was sick, you didn't run away scared. You stood by him. You have been there for him and for A.J. since day one. There's a reason why he loves you so much. You're a wonderful wife. You're -- you're a loving mother. And you are one of the strongest people I know.
Marissa: About what you said -- you don't have to earn anything. I know that I can count on you.
Scott: Hey, guys?
[Monitor beeps steadily]
Jake: There's nothing I'm going to do to help you get out of your job. Being the chief of staff is not easy. Nobody ever said it was going to be easy.
Angie: Look, you're qualified, Jake. You're capable. You're smart, you're funny. I mean, you're so many things. And you also have a much stronger stomach for this stuff than I do.
Jake: Do you remember when I was going to quit my -- my marriage? Quit my life, and you wouldn't let me? You wouldn't let me give up. You remember? That was you.
Angie: Well, this isn't about giving up. This is about a chance to get my life back, and to stop playing these political games and to stop keeping things from my husband, and to stop wondering what makes me any different than David.
Jake: Well, David only cares about David.
[Angie sighs]
Jake: Right? Are you saying that's what you're all about? Listen, we've all had to do the -- the dance with David's dark side at one point.
Angie: Well, then you should understand why I want out.
Jake: [Sighs] If you want to fight David and when, you got to play his game, right? The good news is, once Dr. Evil's out of the picture, you're free. We're all free.
Angie: Oh, Jake --
Jake: What? Come on now. You're the chief of staff. Nothing I'm going to do is going to help you change that, chief of staff. See you later.
[Door closes]
Erica: Thank you.
Ryan: Ok.
Erica: Listen. What really surprised me is, David was desperate to get back the cash that he put into Fusion.
Ryan: Probably to help him escape.
Erica: Uh-huh. And he got Greenlee to come over here to retrieve some clue that he left for her so she could find him.
Ryan: Did you see what it was?
Erica: No, but it has something to do with the vase of roses over there.
Ryan: I don't see anything over here. I don't see anything at all.
Erica: No. She probably took it with her. I mean, Greenlee just bolted right out the door the minute she found something over there by the roses.
[Ryan sighs]
Erica: Listen, I -- I hope you don't take this the wrong way. I am so glad that you came here and helped me to escape, but why are you here?
Ryan: I snuck my cell phone in Greenlee's purse. My cell phone has a GPS so I can track her wherever she's going right now. And I knew David eventually would want to hook up with her.
Erica: Oh, that's smart. Good. Then Greenlee will lead us to David.
Ryan: I'm telling you, the guy deserves a good shot just for putting you in that chair, never mind everything else he's done.
Erica: Yeah, well, I guess turnabout is fair play. David and I have this thing between us.
Ryan: Really? You and David have a "thing"?
Erica: Let's just say that I find David to be more manageable when he's tied up. Oh, don't look at me like that. He won't get away this easily next time.
Ryan: Let's hope there isn't going to be a next time, ok?
Erica: Yeah. What? What is it?
Ryan: That's really weird. Greenlee is at the hospital.
Greenlee: Oh. There's a sight I thought I'd never see. Oh.
David: Hey.
Greenlee: Who did you have to bribe to get this getup?
David: Well, you have to admit, no one would ever confuse me for a holy man, right?
Greenlee: I'm glad you're ok.
David: Thanks to you. If you hadn't given me the chance to get out of there --
Greenlee: You're going to have to thank me later. We have to move fast. We have to get you someplace safe. The police have a warrant out for your arrest.
David: That's why I don't plan to stick around.
Greenlee: No, no, no, no, no. We don't have to run just yet. We just have to lay low for a while.
David: For what? And wait for these people to parade me down the streets of this town before they toss me behind bars?
Greenlee: Well, you act like I get no say in this.
David: You don't.
Greenlee: What? You see this? See this ring? This means that I get a vote on whether we stay or go.
David: Greenlee, this isn't about "we." You're not going anywhere. I'm leaving Pine Valley, alone.
Brooke: Are you sure I can't get anything for you?
Adam: Yeah.
[Monitor beeps steadily]
Krystal: Want to lay your head on my shoulder for a little cat nap? Maybe by the time you open your eyes, J.R. will have opened his.
Marissa: No. That's the moment I've been waiting for. I don't want to miss it.
Scott: Nothing's been the same without J.R., you know? You know, even the company walking into a board meeting without him, it just --
[Colby daydreams]
Colby's voice: Hey. You look better each time I see you.
J.R.: What's up? You said it was important.
Colby: Operation "out with Annie" has hit a snag.
J.R.: What's wrong?
Colby: Dad still won't kick her to the curb. So I was thinking, maybe you could move back home -- work with me.
J.R.: Something tells me that this isn't about Annie. Something also tells me that you would try any excuse to get me to move back home.
Colby: What's wrong with that?
J.R.: Colby --
Colby: J.R., I almost lost you. Call me selfish, but -- but now that you're back, I just -- I want you around 24/7. [Chuckles]
J.R.: I'm not going anywhere. I promise. You might be right. We would make one hell of a team.
Colby: Annie won't be able to hop on her broomstick fast enough.
Scott: Colby? You ok?
Colby: Yeah. Yeah, I will be.
Krystal: I'm going to go get you another sip of water, ok?
Marissa: Ok.
Marissa's voice: What's this? I thought you had to work.
J.R.'s voice: All work and no play makes me a very bad husband.
J.R.: We should have been doing this the first few months of our marriage -- kissing and dancing. Romantic dinners.
Marissa: Mm-hmm. You always do that. Put me first. But don't you know that's the most romantic thing a husband could do?
J.R.: I wish I could have given us a different start -- one without cancer.
Marissa: We made it through the hardest part. Now we know we can take on anything, together.
J.R.: When we fell in love, it was special. Unique. It was us.
Ryan: This doesn't make any sense. Why would Greenlee rush off to the hospital now, unless --
Erica: Unless she was going to meet David. And I'm going with you.
Ryan: Well, hold on, hold on. You don't have to do that -- not after everything you just went through.
Erica: Of course, I am. As I said, turnabout is fair play, and I'm not going to miss this chance to "play" David. Just, please, give me a minute. I've got to change these clothes.
Ryan: Ok, you win. Go change.
Greenlee: So that's it? You're just going to pack up and go?
David: Ryan's minions haven't given me much choice.
Greenlee: Don't let them run you out of town. If you stay, we can face them together. Let them do their worst. They can't win. Isn't that why we got married? So no one in this town could get to us?
David: I married you to protect you, not drag you down with me.
Greenlee: I'll get on the stand. I'll lie. I'll say it was all my idea.
David: Oh, what -- and then you get thrown in jail, too? No, Greenlee. That's not going to happen. Skipping town is the best option.
Greenlee: Then I'll go with you.
David: Oh, come on, Greenlee, what are you going to do? You're going to give up your life here? What about Fusion?
Greenlee: What about Marissa? What about me? I know you don't think that people need you, but we do. What am I supposed to do without you?
David: Oh, come on. We both know you can rip this town to shreds if you want to all on your own.
Greenlee: You stood by me. You've been there for me, and you believed in me when everyone else wanted to forget about me. I won't let you --
David: Listen to me. I'm your husband, right? And I haven't asked much from you in this marriage. But I'm asking you for this. Please. Just let me go.
[Phone rings]
Greenlee: I broke my phone so they couldn't put a trace on it. Oh, my God, it's Emma calling. This is Ryan's phone. He must have planted it on me.
David: Let me see that. Ryan's tracking us. He knows where we are.
Greenlee: I am not letting Ryan get away with this.
David: Ok, we don't have much time. I don't know how far away they are right now. I've got to go.
Greenlee: No, no, don't do this.
David: Thank you, all right? For rescuing me, for standing by me. It's been a long time since anyone's given a damn about me.
Greenlee: I'm your wife. I'm supposed to give a damn about you.
David: Come here. I'll be back. That's a promise.
[Phone rings]
Angie: Hey, baby. They're absolutely beautiful.
Jesse: Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you.
Angie: I should be sending you flowers. I'm sorry for the way I rushed off earlier.
Jesse: How's J.R.?
Angie: Uh, the transplant is still in progress.
Jesse: With one of the greatest doctors around taking care of him, I'm sure he's going to pull through.
Angie: Well, I wish it were as simple as that. We're just going to have to wait and see how things work out.
Jesse: Hey, listen, when I saw you earlier, um, it seemed like more than the job that was getting to you. Now, I'm not going to push it, but just so you know, if you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you, baby.
Erica: Listen, Ryan, he could be anywhere. This is such a big place. I think we should split up.
Ryan: No, I think we should stay together. Hayward is desperate, and he's capable of just about anything.
Erica: Ok, but we need a plan. So why don't we start on the first floor and work our way up?
Greenlee: Oh, come on.
Erica: What is it?
Ryan: I think I hear Greenlee.
Greenlee: You were always someone I thought I could count on, but how can I trust you now?
Jake: Can I defend myself?
Greenlee: No, what defense do you have? David's not perfect.
Jake: Far from perfect.
Greenlee: But he's my husband, and I thought you were my friend. You may not care about David, but I thought you cared about me. Oh, look. The gang's all here. Erica, all out and about.
Erica: Yeah, no thanks to you.
Ryan: So, what are you doing here, Greenlee?
Greenlee: Well, if you must know, I'm just grilling my old pal Jake here on the do's and don'ts of friendship. Why? Is that a crime?
Tad: Hey, Liza, it's me. Listen, I'm fairly sure you're with a client right about now, but I just thought you should know, they're starting the marrow transplants for J.R. I wanted to tell you myself. I just wondered if you could do me a favor and give me a call back as soon as possible. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
J.R.: You got room up there for one more?
Tad: I don't need it. Just seeing you standing here like that's all the "Happy Father's Day" I'm ever going to need. Oh, ok. Let's see here. "To Tad, my other father."
Both: "The reason I'm standing here right now."
Tad: That's not true.
J.R.: Well, when I first learned that I had cancer, I was ready to give up. But you set me straight. You reminded me that I had to fight to hold onto my life.
Tad: J.R., you're the reason you're standing here. You fought the cancer all by yourself.
J.R.: You know, half the time, I think I'm running scared, but you're always there to push me in the right direction, and that's why I look up to you.
Tad: Oh, yeah? Well, I'll go you one better. Every time I see you with Marissa, or A.J. -- every single time you give Adam one more chance, even though the old goat doesn't deserve it, I know what kind of a man you've become. What kind of heart you have. You've got your mother's heart. You've come through so much. Fought so hard -- alcoholism, this cancer. And that's why I look up to you. And don't you forget it.
Brooke: Adam, do you want to go check on Annie? And if there's any change, I can always come and find you.
Adam: Would you mind checking on her for me?
Brooke: Oh, of course not.
Adam: I -- I can't leave J.R. right now.
Brooke: I understand. Ok. I'll be right back.
J.R.: I'm feeling better every day.
Adam: Good. Have you given some thought about coming back to work with Chandler?
J.R.: Well, after everything that's happened, it's going to take me some time to decide. And if I do come back, it'll be on my own terms, my own time.
Adam: So you've built a new life for yourself devoid of the Chandler name? Believe it or not, I admire that.
J.R.: You haven't made it easy.
Adam: Well, I had to push a little bit and challenge you some.
J.R.: Yeah, I have been pushed, and I have been challenged. For a long time, I didn't think that you wanted what was best for me.
Adam: I believe in you, J.R. I always have. And I hope someday, you'll believe that.
J.R.: I'm working on it.
Adam: Yeah.
Brooke: Adam, did you hear me? I talked to the doctor. Annie's doing all right. She's resting right now.
Adam: Oh, thank you.
Brooke: Yeah. Are you ok? Your mind seemed to be somewhere else right now.
Adam: No, no, I'm right here, with J.R.
Colby: Everybody, it looks like they're starting.
Greenlee: You and me -- we'll finish this later -- without your sidekicks listening in.
Ryan: So, that's the only reason that you were here? Just to talk to Jake?
Greenlee: Yeah. I needed to remind him about trust. Loyalty. I know those are hard concepts for you to grasp, so --
Erica: Where's David, Greenlee?
Greenlee: Well, you were the last to see him, Erica. Maybe we should be asking you.
Erica: You know very well, the last time I saw David, he handcuffed me to a chair. You found me, you left me there.
Greenlee: Oh, come on, Erica. You knew it wouldn't be long before Pine Valley's white knight swooped in to save you. We all know Ryan gets bored if he doesn't have a damsel in distress to save.
Erica: Hmm.
Greenlee: Oh, wait. I almost forgot. I believe that's yours.
[Greenlee hands Ryan his phone]
Ryan: Thanks.
Dr. Kahn: His airway's inflamed.
Adam: Oh, my God, what is --
[J.R. gags]
Adam: J.R.! J.R.!
Brooke: Adam, wait!
