Amanda: Happy Valentine's Day.

Jake: Wow.

Amanda: So? What do you think?

Jake: I -- I love the shoes -- and everything north, of course, of the shoes.

Amanda: Well, why don't you and I go discuss the true meaning of Valentine's Day?

Jake: You mean it's not about the guy that was gruesomely martyred to death thousands of years ago in the name of love?

Amanda: Hmm. You see, that's what I love about you -- a true romantic.

Jake: Now, I'm not complaining or anything, but I just want you to know, I am on to you.

Amanda: Well, that was the point, Doctor.

Jake: Hmm. Yeah. But this is monkey business, because you just don't want me to go after David.

David: I hope the old adage about seeing your bride on her wedding day doesn't hold true.

Greenlee: [Scoffs] I think I used up my allotment of bad luck on my last wedding day.

David: How are you feeling?

Greenlee: Worried -- about my father. About Ryan.

David: Well, I thought you told me Jackson was going to be holed up in his hotel room all weekend, working on some legal project.

Greenlee: Yes, but with all these people coming, though, what if he finds out before we go through with it?

David: All right, try not to worry about Jackson.

Greenlee: He'll try to stop it if he finds out.

David: No one can stop this wedding but you, Greenlee. Just say the word.

Greenlee: No. Everything's on. As long as Ryan is there.

David: Oh, he'll be there.

Greenlee: We can't do this without him. He has to see me, marrying you. He has to know I can move on just as easily as he did.

David: Well, then put it out of your mind. I made sure Ryan will be there. Now, I know that most people wouldn't consider this to be a traditional wedding, but some traditions need to be respected.

Greenlee: It's a little late for bachelor parties.

David: Well, I might argue with you on that one. These are for you. And I know you didn't want them decorating the ceremony, but I couldn't resist.

[Greenlee giggles as she opens a box containing a single perfect red rose]

David: Happy Valentine's Day.

Erica: And, Val, tell I.T. that I want the security on the new computer system to be just as good as the White House. No, actually, make it more secure than that. Val, listen, I've got to go. What happened to you?

Ryan: Do you really need to ask?

Erica: David?

Ryan: I went back to his house when I found out about this mystery wedding of his, and he threw Greenlee in my face, so I threw a fist in his.

Erica: Ok, let me get you an ice pack.

Ryan: No, I'm ok, Erica. I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine. Whew. He -- he enclosed a special message for me in my invitation. A dead butterfly.

Erica: Oh, Ryan --

Ryan: I just -- I just stood there staring at it. I mean, how sick is this guy? How sick is he? Who would do that? I mean, I have hated the man since I've known him, but right now, I'm doing everything in my power not to go back over to his place and kill the bastard.

Erica: Don't say that, Ryan. Anyway, just, you know, think of it this way -- David's trying to push your buttons, and don't let him. And anyhow, David's not even worth it.

Ryan: I know he's not. I know, I know, but if he had been in the room when I first laid eyes on that butterfly, I swear to you, I don't think I could have stopped myself.

Erica: Ryan, honestly, I never really knew what butterflies meant to Greenlee. Was she just fond of the image? Do they mean something else?

Ryan: I guess she -- she knew that in order to really spread your wings and fly, it took more than just letting go, you know? It took guts, grace, power, and I think that's the association. You know, that's how she tried to live her life -- like that, so -- today's Valentine's Day. It's also -- it would have been -- ahem -- our first anniversary. It's also a full moon. And David is using all these things to get to me, and I don't -- I don't really know why. And I really don't like to admit it, but it's working. It's getting to me. It's -- it's -- this is going to sound crazy, but I feel like -- I feel like Greenlee's here again, somehow. I feel like her presence -- I feel like I'm going to look over my shoulder, and she's going to be right there.

David: Something borrowed.

Greenlee: In case I get weepy?

David: You kidding? In case I do. You can pass it over to me.

Greenlee: Right, right. I can tell you're the type to puddle up at a wedding. Thank you.

David: All right, come on, keep going. Here. Something blue.

Greenlee: It's beautiful. Thank you. It -- it reminds me of --

David: Ryan?

Greenlee: Of who I am. Thank you again.

David: [Sighs] Something old.

Greenlee: Hmm. It's little.

[David and Greenlee chuckle]

Greenlee: Oh, I remember this.

David: Yeah.

Greenlee: It's Leo's St. Christopher medallion.

David: He stopped wearing it for some reason. I found it in a box of his things after he -- well, after he was gone.

Greenlee: David, this is so special. Thank you so much.

David: Sure. Hmm. Now, I don't have anything new, so I thought maybe we could use the rose, if that's not cheating.

Greenlee: No, you already gave me something new. I have a whole new life because of you, and I'll always be grateful for that. For you bringing me back here, for marrying me. All of it.

David: All right, now, listen to me. If you're having any second thoughts about this, it's not too late to stop it. Ok? You know I'll do whatever you want.

Greenlee: No second thoughts. If anything, the last couple of days have only made me more certain. [Sighs] Ok. This will protect me from Ryan. [Laughs] From Erica.

[David struggles to put the gold chain around Greenlee's neck]

David: I can't see.

Greenlee: No one will hurt me anymore. You got it?

David: That's good. I need glasses. Here you go.

Greenlee: I don't have a gift for you.

David: Oh, are you kidding me? You've already given me your friendship, your trust. And you survived. You're walking again. That's the greatest gift of all.

Greenlee: I haven't forgotten my promise, though. To help you get your daughter back. And I promise, I'm going to do everything I can to make that happen.

Marissa: Better?

J.R.: It's ok. Just a bad chemo reaction. I'm feeling stronger already. I promise.

Marissa: Good. I know that little a will be really glad to have you home. I'll go pick him up from Tad and Krystal's.

J.R.: Well, there's no need to rush. We should really take advantage of the alone time.

[J.R. chuckles]

Marissa: Wow, you are feeling better, aren't you?

[Kiss]

J.R.: Well, with you in my arms, what better medicine is there?

Marissa: Well, I was going to rent us a movie tonight, but I think we found something better to do.

J.R.: Well, actually, I was thinking maybe we'd go to David's wedding.

Marissa: Why would you think that? I swore that David was out of my life for good. And you're the one who told me not to let a stunt like this pull me back in. Nothing is going to get me to watch David get married.

J.R.: Not even me?

Amanda: You are the one that makes everything about David, not me. And I can't believe that you want to go to this stupid wedding. I mean, every single time we've stuck our nose in anything dealing with him, it's bit us in the ass. And I could understand when he could hold Trevor over our heads, but not now, Jake. Why are you letting him drag you back in like this?

Jake: Because I am tired of waiting around to see what he's going to do next. Wondering why he's in town in the first place. You want to know why? Because he has an agenda. And this wedding -- that is part of the agenda. And I want to make sure that we are not the other part, ok?

Amanda: How in the world could this possibly have anything to do with us?

Jake: I don't know if it does, honey. I don't know if it does, and all I want to do is protect this family. I never, ever want to see him hurt us again. Ok? All right? Hi.

Liza: Hi.

Jake: Hi. Come on.

Liza: Ok, what's going on?

Amanda: Oh, just a small step forward in our marriage. Jake is no longer going behind my back trying to go after David, he's now being open and upfront about it.

Liza: Is this about the wedding?

Jake: Yes, it's about the wedding.

Liza: Ok. Well, if it's any consolation, Tad and I are going. Yeah, he wants to see if David is up to something.

Amanda: Oh, my God. Did you guys rehearse your speeches? I swear, everyone in this town is obsessed with him.

Jake: I am just trying to protect this family! I'm going to the wedding.

[Door closes]

Amanda: Yeah, so obviously, the intervention did not help.

Liza: Yeah.

Amanda: I -- he is just as obsessed with David as ever. I don't know what to do.

Liza: Look, I don't know. Trust me, I've tried talking Tad out of this, as well, but he is back on the David train. You know he's up in Gloucester right now?

Amanda: What?

Liza: Yeah, he's looking for that nurse Gayle to see if maybe -- maybe she's this mystery bride.

Amanda: Oh, my God. Those two are so frustrating!

Liza: I know. These Martin men -- they got to protect their own. I don't know -- I guess as far as obsessions go, it's -- it's really not such a bad thing.

Tad: I'm on my way to the station house, all right? I'll see you there.

Ryan: Did you find anything over in Gloucester?

Tad: I'll explain it to you when I explain it to Jesse.

Ryan: I'll be right there. I've got to get going.

Erica: What's going on?

Ryan: Tad just got back from Gloucester. He was tracking David's loyal nurse. I'm going to get the story back at the station.

Erica: Ok, well, just let Tad and Jesse handle it, ok? Please promise me you won't get into it with David again.

Ryan: I'm not going to make you a promise I can't keep.

Marissa: I really can't believe that you're trying to talk me into going.

J.R.: You broke things off with David when you were emotionally at nuclear meltdown, and rightfully so. You were hurt from the things that he said and the lies that he told you. But that frustration, that anger is going to stay with you the rest of your life until you can find a way to calmly, rationally cut him out.

Marissa: Ok, this is me calm and rational. I just want him to leave me alone.

J.R.: Yeah, but it's not that easy. He's not going to leave you alone. The only way that I was able to stay away from Adam this last time is because I made the decision to. I was levelheaded about it. There was no blowups, no screaming matches. I gave him an option. I told him what he needed to do in order to stay in my life, and he declined. He picked Annie. So I walked away. You haven't been able to shut the door like that yet.

Marissa: So you want me to go sit calmly and rationally through whatever messed up scene David makes at his wedding?

J.R.: I think if you see him, you meet his new wife, go through whatever torture treatment he has in store for you, and leave with a cool head, I think that's it. Plus, I just happen to be really, really curious to see who he blackmailed into marrying him.

Marissa: Oh, why do I find it so damn hard to say no to you?

J.R.: Because I'm irresistible.

Opal: Got myself a new dress for David's big to-do, along with a bottle of smelling salts for the impending shocker.

Krystal: Hmm. So, you think that's what your tea leaves were trying to tell you? There's going to be a shocker at David's wedding?

Opal: Honey, I don't need tea leaves to tell me that. I mean, we all know David's got a flair for the dramatic. There's always going to be a yellow jacket in the outhouse at any party he throws. I just cannot wait to find out what poor, pathetic girl's going to be the next Mrs. David Hayward.

Krystal: Oh, yeah. Well, whoever it is, I do feel sorry for her, too.

Opal: I know.

Krystal: I couldn't sleep last night. I kept thinking about everything I went through in that marriage, how everybody was trying to tell me to turn and run, and I didn't listen to a word of it. You know, I would just give anything to have two minutes to talk to that woman.

Opal: Hmm.

Krystal: Maybe save her from the worst mistake of her life.

Opal: Well, you want to go?

Krystal: Ah, please! I wasn't invited. That's your invitation.

Opal: Well, I see right here that it says "and guest."

Liza: I mean, it wasn't tough, you know? I mean, just falling right back into being old friends. Only, you know, we've gotten a lot closer in the last few weeks.

Amanda: Ooh.

Liza: Yeah.

[Amanda chuckles]

Liza: I don't know. Huh. He's -- I don't know -- I mean, we're just going to have to see. You know? See what happens. Hopefully, it doesn't end up the way it did last time. All right, what about you and Jake?

Amanda: Hmm.

Liza: Come on. Listen, I hate to say it, but you got to kind of understand where he is coming from with David. All right? The not-so-good doctor definitely upped the stakes with this whole weird wedding thing.

Amanda: What if it's for real? I mean, what if this wedding is just a wedding, and this woman has a real shot at changing David for the better?

Liza: Oh, come on. You don't really believe that's possible, do you?

Amanda: No, I don't. But whatever David is up to, I don't want Jake to be caught in the crossfire. I mean, we just got rid of the man. I don't want him in our lives, you know? What?

Liza: Well, looks like somebody's got the Martin obsession. You are definitely just as protective of him over David as he is of you.

Amanda: Well, he won't listen to me. And he is determined to go to this thing, and who knows what's going to happen there? So, I don't know how to protect him.

Liza: I'll tell you how. You go. You go and you stand by his side. That's how you protect him.

Mitchell: The program had already written over the data that was on here, but just before it died, the system used the freed-up space to hold a video capture.

Jesse: Of what?

Natalia: The crime in action.

Mitchell: Well, it looks like a web cam was knocked onto the floor.

Natalia: Look, there are two people there.

Jesse: Looks like David and a woman, but who's the woman? Um, listen, buy our friend a cup of coffee and a doughnut. Nice work.

[Natalia sighs]

Natalia: Come on.

Jesse: Any luck up in Gloucester?

Tad: I found Nurse Gayle. And it went pretty much as you'd expect. When I started to question her about Hayward, she starts to dodge me. Then I let slip that he was getting married, and she split a gut.

Ryan: So she didn't know anything at all about the wedding?

Tad: And wasn't at all happy to hear about it.

Jesse: So Gayle's not the woman that David is marrying.

Tad: No, not at all. And while she was ranting about how badly he betrayed her, she let something very interesting slip. She says she should have pulled the plug on the bitch when she had the chance.

Ryan: So -- so she knows who David is marrying?

Tad: And that she's injured.

Jesse: Well, David claimed that he came back to Pine Valley, because Gayle was injured, maybe even needed surgery.

Tad: Well, the woman I talked to wasn't even sick. Not so much as a sniffle.

Jesse: So Gayle must have helped David take care of whoever he was marrying.

David: [Sighs] Good, why don't you come right in?

Jake: Uh, I just wanted to tell you, I'm not letting you do this.

[David chuckles]

David: Well, I'm sorry, we're not having one of those "speak now or forever hold your peace" moments in the wedding. And you're early. It's not for another few hours.

Jake: Well, I'm not waiting for the wedding. And I'm not really buying into any of this mystery bride crap. You're up to something, and I don't think it has anything to do with the wedding. What, is it -- you're going to, what, attack -- attack my family again, or what?

David: Whoa, whoa, we're talking big-time paranoia here. I had corn flakes for breakfast this morning. Was that a plot against your family, too?

Jake: No, it's not -- it's not paranoia, it's your behavior. Dave, your behavior warrants this.

David: Hmm.

Jake: Ever since I first got with my wife, you've wanted her. You've gone after her.

David: Haven't we already resolved this?

Jake: How? I don't -- I don't think so. I mean, the only way to really resolve it is if you got lost, forever. So I'm certainly not going to stand around and watch you manipulate my wife again.

David: All right, you know something? Amanda did plenty of her own manipulating, as did you.

Jake: Well, no. Maybe just to protect our son. That's about it. But you -- even when you found out Trevor wasn't yours, you used him to make our life a living hell. What, you don't remember trying to blackmail Amanda into having another kid with you? You don't remember manipulating her into having sex with you in the back of a car? You have the nerve to call me paranoid?

Jack: I want the best of everything -- the best hors d'oeuvres, the best drinks, the best service. This is a very special celebration tomorrow.

Man: You got it, Mr. Montgomery.

Jack: Good.

Man: Hey, I'll take care of it myself.

Jack: I appreciate that. Thank you very much.

Erica: Well -- Val told me that you were down here. What a pleasant surprise.

Jack: Hi.

Erica: Hi.

Jack: Hi.

Erica: Well, I couldn't help but overhear, you're planning a special celebration.

Jack: Yes, yes.

Erica: Anyone I know?

Jack: No, no. In fact, it's somebody from out of town.

Erica: A friend from Europe?

Jack: Well, let's say they had to travel a long way to get here.

Erica: You're being awfully evasive.

Jack: Me? Never.

Erica: Well, then who's the lucky woman?

David: All right, let me try to assuage your suspicions.

Jake: An awful big word there, Davey.

David: I am through with you and Amanda, ok? In fact, that's why I invited you to the wedding. To prove to you both that I'm moving on. Beginning a new life with my new bride. You can't get any more moving on than that.

Jake: But see, that's the problem. I find that really hard to believe.

David: Yeah, well, everyone in this town has a problem. That one is apparently yours. Now if you don't mind, I have a wedding to get ready for.

Jake: Oh, I'm not leaving.

David: All right, now you're just being rude.

Jake: Well, I just would like to meet the bride.

David: And you will, all in good time.

Jake: Hey, mystery bride, I wouldn't marry this guy if I were you. He's a real bastard. Take it from me, I know.

David: Ok, you know, I'd say that you've worn out your welcome. Ok? I'll see you at the wedding! Whew.

[Door closes]

Greenlee: Tell me you didn't do what he accused you of. Tell me you didn't force yourself on Amanda.

David: Of course, I didn't. The sex was completely consensual. But I'm not going to lie to you, Greenlee. I did manipulate her. Blackmailed her -- both of them -- into agreeing to carry my child. I tried to warn you, Greenlee, back in Gloucester. I did some pretty bad things.

Greenlee: So I see.

David: But hearing it right now coming from an old friend of yours, thrown in my face -- it really brought it home, didn't it? You do realize that's nothing compared to what you're going to be hearing from the rest of them, after the wedding, after they realize who it is that I'm marrying. Do you really think you're going to be able to change their opinions of me? Tell them stories about how I saved your life, nursed you back to good health? Well, good luck with that. Greenlee, if you go through with this -- if you really do stand by me like you say you will, you're not only going to be alienating Ryan and Erica, but Jake, Tad, Amanda -- anyone and everyone who you really care about, so this is your last chance -- to back out, to change your mind. Believe me, I'd understand. In fact, I would highly recommend it.

Greenlee: No. I'm not backing out. I intend to be your wife. And if everyone ends up hating me for it, I see that as their problem. I can live with that. I don't care what friends I lose, what enemies I make. I need to do this.

David: Well, then, we'd better get ready. We have a wedding to go to.

Greenlee: First -- I need to know -- you are so certain that Ryan is going to be here. How? What did you do to make sure he comes?

David: Uh -- you're not going to like it.

Greenlee: What's done is done. Tell me.

David: I stuffed something extra into Ryan's invitation -- a dead butterfly.

Tad: That's got to be her. This mystery bride/patient.

Ryan: So he used her to sabotage Fusion. I mean, what kind of woman would go along with something like that?

Jesse: Well, maybe she didn't. I mean, maybe she wasn't doing it willingly.

Tad: It wouldn't be out of character for Hayward.

Ryan: Yeah, maybe he blackmailed her into helping him -- and into marrying him.

Tad: Or drugged her. I mean, he's obviously carrying her in the video.

Jesse: Angela said that the X-rays and lab reports showed that the woman was seriously injured.

Tad: If she was injured, 10 to 1 says it was Hayward.

Ryan: Whoever she is, she was with him when he got back, because I found her sweater draped over his couch. I also found I.V. equipment in the living room.

Jesse: Hmm. Well, this just drags up more questions. I mean, if this woman was seriously injured, how the hell did she manage to help David break into Fusion? And how the hell did David know about that flash drive in your apartment when Greenlee and Kendall were the only two that knew it existed?

Tad: We're going to know more real soon. He's getting married in less than an hour.

Ryan: You guys are going to have to carry the ball on that one.

Tad: What?

Ryan: No, I'm not going. Look, whatever David is up to right now, for some reason, I seem to be his prime target. Today would have been Greenlee's and my first anniversary, ok? And I've been doing everything in my power -- everything to try and forget it, and he's been doing everything in his power to rub it in my face. No, I'm not going. I'm not giving him the satisfaction.

Greenlee: A dead butterfly? That's pretty harsh.

David: I'm sorry. The last thing I wanted to do was upset you. I just knew that you needed to have Ryan here, so whatever I chose to do had to have an impact. Are you all right?

Greenlee: Yeah, I'm ok. It was a good idea. I've just got a gut feeling that it isn't enough.

David: You want to hit him even harder?

Greenlee: We have to. I only have one shot at this. It won't be the same if he doesn't show up or if he hears about it secondhand. We have to be absolutely certain that he makes it to that chapel.

David: Well, there is something else we could do. But this time, I can't do it for you. You would have to do it yourself.

Amanda: Thank you, Jean. I know it's last minute, but it's really important, and I don't have a long list of babysitters. Ok. I'll see you in a minute.

Jake: Wow. So, what, you changed your mind?

Amanda: I -- I decided that you -- you were right. I can't just sit here and wait to hear what's going on at Wildwind. I need to go and find out who this woman is myself.

Jake: Hmm. Ok. And David, too, right?

Amanda: We need to find out what he's up to.

Jack: You know, I don't remember mentioning that my guest of honor is a woman.

Erica: Oh, come on, Jack. You don't have to be coy. I mean, if you met someone in Europe, and she's coming to town, you can tell me.

Jack: You know, I've kind of missed that overactive imagination of yours.

Erica: Oh, I am not going to let you hide behind that. This is not my imagination. I saw your face just now, and I heard your voice when you spoke to the manager. And you said you wanted everything first class. It's obvious that you're trying to hide the fact that you've -- you've met someone, and it's obvious.

Jack: Is it really?

Erica: Yes. And it also explains your -- your rather odd behavior with me when we saw each other. I just don't know why you're trying so hard to deny it, because, I mean, it's not as if you and I were married anymore.

Jack: No, it's -- it's not as if we are.

Erica: Look, Jack, um --

Jack: Hmm?

Erica: You worked very hard to get me to face the facts about how I honestly felt about my relationship with Ryan. So why don't you do the same for yourself? Why don't you come clean about your relationship with this new woman?

Greenlee: You're right. It would guarantee he'd come.

David: I'd understand if you don't want to do it.

Greenlee: Maybe there's something else we can do, something we haven't thought of.

David: Greenlee, we're running out of time. Now, I know this won't be easy for you, but nothing else would deliver the same punch. Ryan would be there in a minute. You know that.

Greenlee: Yeah, no doubt about it.

David: All right, look, why don't you go upstairs and start getting ready, ok? Think about it -- whether or not you want to go through with it.

Greenlee: I don't have to think about it. I'll do it.

Jack: Look, I just can't divulge the identity of my guest of honor.

Erica: Why not?

Jack: Well, 'cause -- confidentiality, actually.

Erica: Oh, you do know exactly how frustrating you're being, don't you?

Jack: I have to protect this person. I'm sorry.

Erica: That's very mysterious. You trying a little one-upmanship on David?

Jack: What about David?

Erica: You don't know? Well, David's getting married -- in less than an hour. He refuses to divulge the name of the woman.

Jack: Oh, my God.

[Jack grabs his coat and takes off]

[Organ music playing]

Marissa: Looks like we're the first to arrive.

J.R.: Hello? Is there anyone here?

Marissa: We've got the right date, don't we?

J.R.: Well, there's fresh flowers. I guess we're just a little bit early.

Krystal: Hi, hon.

Marissa: Hey. Hey, wow. I didn't expect to see you here. I didn't think you'd want anything to do with David anymore.

Krystal: Well, I guess I could say the same thing for you. I know how much he disappointed you.

Marissa: Yeah, well, J.R. was persuasive. I need to be here. He's my father. I mean, that's not going to change. I have to learn to deal with it and not let him get me so upset.

Opal: Oh, the moment I walked in here, I got the chills. I'm telling you, it's going to be a doozy.

Tad: Well, Ma, if it has anything to do with David Hayward, it goes with the dinner.

Opal: Hmm.

Jake: It's starting to feel like we're in a horror movie. They're going to lock the door and start killing us off one by one.

David: Excuse me, everyone. Thank you all for coming. There will be a slight delay, however. The bride isn't quite ready yet. But we'll get going shortly. Thank you.

Marissa: David -- why are you doing this? Who is she?

David: I'm sorry, sweetheart. You're going to have to wait.

Tad: You know, you either have a really sick sense of humor, or you're just trying to make the rest of us hate you even more than we already do.

[Phone rings]

Ryan: Out of area? Who's this? Hello? Hello? Is anybody there?

Greenlee: Happy Valentine's Day, Ryan.

[Organ music plays, then stops]

David: Ok, everyone, we're ready to begin.

[As the "Wedding March" plays, Greenlee walks down the aisle with a very thick white veil covering her face]

Minister: Please be seated.

[Music stops]

Minister: Welcome, everyone, to this celebration of a new union between a man and a woman. The bride and groom have expressed their desire to say their own vows.

David: We found each other. Was it by accident? I suppose it was. But we've always been there for each other. This time, it was during the lowest points of our respective lives. But in each other, we found the will to live, to go on. We found a reason to stay and fight. We found a friend, someone we could open up to, someone whom we could share our deepest fears and our most heart-wrenching memories. We found someone to trust. Above all, trust. That is something we both have been denied so many times in our lives. I will never desert you. I will never let you down. I will always protect you. This is my vow. This is my promise to you right here and now.

Minister: And now we'll hear from the bride.

Jack: What are you doing? Why? Why?

Opal: Oh, my Lord.

Jake: She's alive.

Amanda: Oh, my God.

Tad: I don't believe this.

Greenlee: I'm getting married, Dad.

[Footsteps approach]

Ryan: Greenlee?
