David: "Daring flight from the hospital was nearly thwarted when rookie cop Natalia Fowler opened fire on Ms. Slater's abductor as they ran for the exit."

Amanda: Kendall was in the hospital?

David: Yeah. She was admitted yesterday. I knew something was wrong about it, too. In fact, I doubt she was even wounded in prison.

Amanda: Well, then why would they transfer her to the hospital?

David: Obviously a ploy to help her escape, which she did. That kidnapping from Aidan was just a cover.

Amanda: I've always had trouble believing that Kendall shot Stuart.

David: Well, you didn't see how distraught she was when she thought her son was dead, thanks to Adam. And let us not forget that she did show up at his house that day for the sole purpose of killing him. Then she tried to pin the murder on me, after I saved her life with a transplant. Now, that is gratitude.

Amanda: Well, people do desperate things for their children.

David: Yes, they do. Look at us.

[Amanda's phone chimes]

[Ryan punches a wall in frustration]

Erica: Ryan -- Ryan, don't. Please don't. Don't.

Ryan: Adam paid a judge to allow Annie to spend time with Emma. So I had to sit in there all night and watch the woman who's trying to pin murder on her 7-year-old little girl play loving mother all night.

Erica: Oh, Ryan. But you know what? Maybe thrown in together like this, maybe you can get a confession out of her.

Ryan: No. Nobody can do that now, Erica.

Erica: Ryan, I refuse to believe that. There is always hope. And you are here for your little girl. Your daughter has you by her side.

Ryan: How is -- any word on Kendall?

Erica: She's, um, she's still out there on the run. Well, I never, never should've done this. I knew it. I knew I shouldn't have done this.

Ryan: What? Done what? What are you talking about?

Erica: I helped break Kendall out of the hospital.

Zach: You've kept me here all night for what?

D.A. Willis: Kendall's whereabouts, for starters.

Zach: One more time, I don't know where she is.

D.A. Willis: Then tell me where Aidan is.

Zach: And I don't know where Aidan is! I'm not his keeper! I don't know where they ran to. I have no idea.

D.A. Willis: Well, that's a little hard to believe, Slater.

Zach: I don't care what you believe, Willis. What do you want from me? Hey, Jesse? Any news on Kendall?

Jesse: Nothing yet. But we did dig the bullet out of the hospital wall.

Zach: Well, that's great news. That means Natalia didn't hit anybody.

Jesse: We found something else in the parking lot.

Zach: What?

Jesse: Blood. One of them was shot.

[Aidan groans]

Kendall: Oh, my God, Aidan. Aidan, that -- that looks awful. We -- we have to get you some help right now. We got to get you some help.

Aidan: Kendall, Kendall -- no, hang on. No, there's no -- no calls. No -- no help. Ahh! 

David: Someone keeps texting you.

Amanda: Oh, uh, it's just spam -- something about a sale. But that does remind me I need to go shopping.

David: Oh. All right. Great. Well, I'll go get Trevor, and we'll all go together.

Amanda: No. I mean, you don't have to.

David: You must've forgot. I took the whole day off so we can spend some quality time with our son.

Amanda: Uh, yeah. I was just gonna run out really quick.

David: Well, it's ok. Look, I don't mind shopping. All right? I mean, it's a nice family activity. And, hey, we can go out and enjoy the Indian summer. You know, take a long walk, and, I don't know, end up at the Yacht Club for some lunch.

Amanda: All right. I'll go get the stroller.

David: I'll go get it. It's all right.

Amanda: No. It's ok. I -- I got it.

Zach: Whose blood?

Jesse: Well, it's either Kendall's or Aidan's.

Zach: Well, have it typed so we know who it is.

Jesse: We're doing that now. All right? We also --

[Phone rings]

Jesse: Hold on a second. Hubbard. I'll be right there. Excuse me.

Zach: I'm going home.

D.A. Willis: Hey, where do you think you're --

Zach: Take your hands off me!

D.A. Willis: Look, another outburst like that --

Liza: Ok, you know what? Look, my client has been cooperating with you all evening. Let him take a break, or arrest him if you think you have a case.

D.A. Willis: All right, but you're not to leave this station. Is that understood?

Liza: Would you cool it before you do something you're gonna regret?

Zach: Or he'll do something that he'll regret.

Liza: Oh, great. Trash-talk: That's really helpful. Look, were you in on the escape or not?

Zach: I told you I was not.

Liza: All right. Well, before Kendall ran, you had a meeting with Willis saying you were gonna do whatever you could to protect the people that you love. What did that mean?

Zach: When the double was stabbed, I -- I knew that somebody was gonna find out about it and this whole thing was gonna blow up in our faces.

Liza: So what were you gonna do? You were gonna tell them that you held Kendall against her will in a secret room? And you were gonna take the heat for yourself?

Zach: Yeah. Well, I couldn't do anything, could I? Aidan took off with Kendall now and just --

Jesse: Just got the blood results back. Blood type was A-positive.

Zach: Kendall's O-negative. That means she's ok.

Kendall: All right, you are burning up. We have got to get you some medical attention.

Aidan: Kendall, we can't call anyone. Do you hear me? We'll be arrested and then sent to prison.

Kendall: Listen, if it saves your life, I'm willing to take that chance.

Aidan: Well, I'm not. Ok? I'm fine. I'm gonna be fine. I just -- I need some water.

Kendall: All right. Ok. We have some here. We have some here. Ok, ok, ok, ok, ok. Here, here, here. Just let me try and give this to you. All right.

Kendall: Ok? Good?

Aidan: Some more.

Ryan: You bailed Aidan out of jail?

Erica: I had no idea that he was planning to break Kendall out of the hospital.

Ryan: It must've seemed like the one chance to get free.

Erica: Well, I don't know why. I mean, the last time I had a plane standing by for her. This whole idea with Aidan -- this is a bad idea. It's a very bad idea. I'm worried sick. I know. I know you are, too.

Ryan: And we both have Annie to thank for this. We do. And now she's lying in there with Emma, and I had to stay up all night, because I just don't know what the woman is gonna do next.

Erica: I know. You must be exhausted. Listen, why don't you take a break?

[Ryan sighs]

Ryan: I can't. I can't. I just -- you know, Emma could wake up any second. So --

Erica: Well, you remember when you insisted that I take a break, that I needed a break from "New Beginnings," and you dragged me kicking and screaming to go sailing? You were right, you know? That's exactly what I needed.

Ryan: No, this is just a little bit different. I got to stay near Emma.

Erica: Ok, then. Why don't you take your break right now, right here, with me? Close your eyes. Go ahead. Imagine that you are out on that boat rocking on the water. Do it. And the sea air is on your face, and the sun is gleaming down on you with a warm smile. The water is lapping up on the boat, and the world is in its place. Are you feeling better?

Ryan: I am, actually. But I could use some help.

Kendall: All right. Ok. At least please, please try to get some rest.

Aidan: No, Kendall, we can't rest. We need to get out of here. We need to get a move on.

[Door handle clicks]

[Man whistles]

Jake: Oh.

Amanda: "Secret mission," huh?

Jake: Mm-hmm. Martin, Jake Martin.

[Amanda giggles]

Jake: And I want you to know I only have an hour for lunch. And -- you're my lunch, and I didn't think that -- I had to check with anybody like David to see if I should stick to my diet or not. I'm sure you understand.

Amanda: So you lured me here under duress: "Escape or else"?

Jake: Hmm. I don't know if I'd call it "duress," really. More my influence on you with my rather large charm factor.

[Amanda giggles]

Jake: I see a hayloft in our immediate future.

Amanda: Hmm. Really?

[Amanda squeals and giggles when Jake picks her up in his arms, then she gasps as Kendall points a gun at them]

Jesse: I hate having to hunt Kendall down like this. If I had known what you --

Zach: You didn't know. I didn't know. No one knew, Jesse. I'm sorry professional duties got involved again.

Jesse: I will deal with my professional duties.

Liza: How's, um, how's Natalia doing?

Jesse: She's ok, considering she shot somebody on her first day out. Oh, God. You know what? I'm gonna go check on her.

Liza: You must be relieved to know that it's not Kendall's blood.

Zach: Do I look relieved to you? I'm gonna be relieved when Kendall is back here.

Liza: I'm just saying it took a lot of guts, that's all.

Zach: To put herself into that kind of danger? No, the woman's gone insane.

Jake: Come on, now, Kendall. Nobody's gonna hurt you, ok?

Kendall: I didn't run because I'm guilty. I'm not.

Jake: Ok. Now, I heard that you were hurt in prison and they had to send you to the hospital. Are you all right?

Kendall: I didn't kill Stuart. I -- I escaped because I had no choice.

Jake: I believe you. Amanda believes you.

Amanda: Absolutely. You must be so scared.

Jake: Now, I -- you know, I've helped you before, remember, to try to get away, and I'm willing to help you again. We both are.

Amanda: Kendall, we're on your side.

Jake: Ok, so can you -- can you put the gun down?

[Kendall sighs]

Kendall: You guys, we have to help Aidan. Aidan -- he's right here. He's hurt really bad. Please help him, please.

Jake: Hey. Here we go, let's see what we got here. Let's see.

Zach: Wouldn't listen to me. Just took off on her own.

Liza: Well, at least she's got Aidan to lean on.

Zach: Yeah -- nearly got her killed.

Liza: Look, he took a bullet for her, remember?

Zach: And now she's running with a wounded man. It's only a matter of time before they pick them up.

Jake: Well, your pulse is a little fast, but --

[Aidan groans]

Jake: I actually think that this is gone all the way through.

Aidan: Listen -- agh.

Jake: All right, I'm sorry.

Aidan: No hospitals, Jake. No police.

Jake: Honey, will you go up to the house and get whatever you can find? Meds, alcohol, any sort of bandages, ok?

Amanda: Ok.

Jake: I got to do this.

[Aidan groans]

Jake: All right.

Zach: I should go talk to Willis.

Liza: Right. Then you both go to prison. It was the reason why Kendall escaped in the first place.

Zach: Don't tell me how to handle this.

Liza: Ohh. Well, somebody's got to protect you from yourself.

Zach: The last thing I need right now is --

Liza: Is a rational, objective friend.

Zach: Ok, friend. You're fired.

Liza: Ok, fine. I've been trying to quit now for a month. I'm going home.

Zach: All right, tell your family I said Hi.

Liza: Yeah, and your family, too? You forget I got Ian? Hey, that's ok. I'll keep him as long as you need me to. But just think long and hard about that little boy before you go off and make your "confession."

David: Well, that took a long time. Did you get the stroller?

Amanda: Uh, I -- I can't find it. It's not in the car. It's not in the garage, around back. I took Trevor for a walk in the backyard yesterday, so I thought for sure that's where it would be. But I have no idea where it is.

[Trevor cries]

Amanda: Oh. Oh, he's up now. Would you mind getting him ready for the walk? And actually, he's probably ready for a change. If you don't mind, change his diaper.

David: I, um --

Amanda: Please?

David: All right. Sure. No problem.

Amanda: Thank you. I'll keep looking for the stroller. Maybe it's around the side.

D.A. Willis: The chief has convinced me that I have to release you. But if I were you, I'd play ball now, or it'll be a lot harder for you later on.

Zach: I got nothing, Willis.

Jesse: Well, I hope you find Kendall before anybody else does. It's a high-profile case, Zach. U.S. Marshal has now been brought in on the manhunt.

Zach: What do we do about that?

Jesse: Well, I can make sure my men don't hurt either one of them. But U.S. Marshall? I got no control over them.

[Aidan groans]

Aidan: Ow.

Jake: Well, the good news is there's no bullet here, but the bad news is I'm pretty sure this is infected.

Aidan: Where the hell is Amanda?

Kendall: I'm sure she's hurrying.

Aidan: Look I need to get patched up now, and we need to get on the road.

Jake: Up.

TV newsman: The forecast, showers and thunderstorms today with strong southwesterly --

[Stuart cries]

Liza: Shh, shh.

[Liza turns off TV]

Liza: Colby? Where's Colby?

Bailey: Oh, she took Ian away for a few minutes to get away from all the noise.

Liza: What's the problem?

Bailey: I don't know. He's been like this all night. I mean, I've tried music and rocking him and toys. Nothing works.

Liza: Come here. Come here, little guy. Oh, that's it. What's the matter, baby? What's wrong, huh? Don't you like our new place? Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh, shh.

[Stuart stops crying]

Liza: Yeah. There you go.

Bailey: That is so not fair.

Liza: Aw. Well, look, he's still getting used to you.

Bailey: I'm his mom.

Liza: Yeah, well, you know, he's also -- he's growing a few new teeth.

Bailey: I am so bad at this!

Liza: Oh, come here. It's ok. It's all right. There. Yeah. See?

Annie: It's so hard being a mother. I heard about Kendall's escape.

Erica: What? I have no idea what you're talking about.

Annie: Hmm. You must be worried. You, too, Ryan. I mean, I know how much Kendall means to the both of you.

Erica: You know something. It has been a really, really long night. Why don't you come with me to the vending machine, have some coffee? I think we could all use some coffee, ok? My treat.

Annie: All right.

Erica: Good. Listen, enjoy your private time with Emma. I'll keep the demon occupied.

Ryan: Thank you.

Jake: These aren't really the right antibiotics for this kind of wound, but they'll do for the moment.

Aidan: Thanks.

Jake: It's all right.

Aidan: We need to get out of here.

Jake: Wait. Whoa. I think you need to just take a deep breath, maybe eat something, get your strength back. Otherwise, you're not gonna get too far. Trust me.

Amanda: There's some food in the stable fridge. I'll go get it.

Kendall: Jake, can I talk to you for a second?

Jake: Sure.

Kendall: I -- I need to ask you one more favor. I need you to please find Zach, but don't tell him where we are.

Jake: I can do that.

Kendall: Swear you won't give us away?

Jake: I swear.

Kendall: Thank you. I -- I wrote him a letter. I need you to please, please deliver this to him.

Jake: All right.

Kendall: He has to read this. He has to understand.

Annie: Hospital coffee's always so bad, but at least this is hot.

Erica: Yes -- scalding hot.

Annie: Listen, Erica, I know that you hate me, but I was thinking that maybe just for a few minutes we could talk mother to mother.

Erica: I suppose under some definitions that would apply.

Annie: I was looking for some advice. I know that you sat by Kendall's bedside for months waiting for her to wake up. I was wondering what you think I can do to help get Emma through this.

Erica: Well, first, you'd have to actually love her.

[Zach sighs]

Zach: Any news? I guess you heard about Kendall?

Ryan: I'm kind of surprised you didn't run with her.

Zach: Wasn't my idea. She did it all on her own.

Ryan: Why? Was it to keep you out of prison?

Zach: I don't know why. It doesn't really matter now. What matters is that she's out there running, hiding, with Aidan. He's shot. He can't even protect her.

Ryan: So you want me to take Ian while you go after her? Then I guess if you find her before the cops do, then you will run with her?

Zach: I'll get in touch with you, all right?

Ryan: After the publicity dies down a little bit, you want me to figure out a way to get Ian to you? No. Not gonna happen.

Zach: "It's not gonna happen?" Do it for Kendall. Do it for Ian.

Ryan: If you're both on the run, you're both like moving targets, all right? She's a convicted murderer, you will become her accomplice. The cops take you both down, and then Ian is an orphan and Spike is motherless.

Zach: Well, that's not gonna happen. I know how to disappear.

Ryan: Look, I hate that Kendall put herself in danger like this. But I am not gonna help Ian's father do the same thing.

Zach: I don't like it either, but I don't have a choice.

Ryan: Yeah, you do have a choice. Look, she just probably panicked. Kendall panicked, she got an idea in her head, and she just went with it.

Zach: Yeah, she went with it, with Aidan. After everything, why Aidan?

Ryan: Why me? Why -- why you coming to me?

Zach: Because if we don't fix this, I'm gonna lose my wife, and you might lose your daughter.

Jake: Hey. I've been looking all over the place for you. Can I talk to you for a second in private?

Zach: About what?

Jake: Just go with me on this.

Annie: I should've known you wouldn't get past yourself, even to help my little girl.

Erica: Oh, I am helping Ryan's little girl. Careful. Oh, I wouldn't want to spill anything this hot on that sensitive skin.

Annie: You know, you really have some nerve, lecturing me on being a loving mother? Like you haven't made mistakes with your children?

Erica: Oh, I've made mistakes. But the difference between you and me is that I've learned from them. Always put my children first: You would never do that.

Annie: Oh, you put Kendall first? Like when she went to prison and you grabbed her ex-lover? Oh, yes, Erica. You're really a great all-around mother.

Bailey: Have you ever seen a mother as lame as me?

Liza: Oh, come on. Don't be so hard on yourself. These things take time. You should've seen me when I first had Colby.

Bailey: Why are you doing this, Liza? Why are you being so nice to me?

Liza: Because you're his birth mother, and you want to spend time with him.

Bailey: Yeah, but I don't get it. I mean, when I first got here, you lied to keep us apart. Now you're letting me stay with you? You're giving me mothering tips? Why don't you want to get rid of me?

Liza: I do. Really, from the first day that you came here. But the reason that I'm not is for Stuart. You know, I love him so much. I really want to do what's best for him.

Bailey: And you think that's bringing me back into his life?

Liza: Honestly, I don't know. I don't know how this one is gonna play out. But, uh, I'm just gonna see where it goes.

[Stuart cries]

Liza: Well, sounds like it's time for another bottle.

Bailey: Guess you better go feed him.

Liza: Why don't you give it another try?

Amanda: Annie killed Stuart?

Kendall: Yes. Just like she killed Richie. She's trying to get away with this one, too.

Amanda: But if you run now, you're going to look so guilty. And you won't have a chance to tell anyone that you realized you didn't do it.

Kendall: Zach and Ryan will nail Annie, and then I'll be able to come home.

Amanda: Why don't you want Zach to know where you are?

Kendall: Because he'll come after me, and I can't have that. Zach can't protect me now. I have to protect him.

Zach: What's so important?

Jake: I -- I was just with Kendall and Aidan.

Zach: Where is she?

Jake: She asked me not to tell you that.

Zach: Where is my wife?

Jake: She's not where I just left her.

Kendall's voice: "Dear Zach, I know you're worried and angry about what I've done, but I couldn't let you go to prison. Please trust me. Trust that I have the strength and courage to do this and to survive this for us. Our love has given me that strength. Remember what you told me in the hospital: To trust our love? I am trusting it, and now I need you to. I promise I will find my way back to you. Until then, I beg you not to come after me. You have to be there for the boys, and you have to get Annie. I know you will because you promised me it would work this time, and it will. I love you. Kendall."

[Phone rings]

Zach: Yeah?

Jesse: Hey, we got a lead on Kendall.

Bailey: Ok. Ok, come on, Stuey. You can do it. Come on. Come on.

Liza: Hmm. Sometimes if you just rub the nipple over his lips, he'll take it.

Bailey: Oh.

Liza: Yeah, you want that?

Bailey: No?

Liza: Not so much? Here. How about this?

Bailey: Ohh. How's that? You like that Mr. Giraffe? That's the smile I've been looking for. Here you go. He got so quiet. It's amazing. It's like he's memorizing my face.

Liza: Yeah, he's, uh, he's a pretty amazing little guy.

Bailey: Yeah, he is.

Erica: You're always trying to turn the tables, aren't you? Always trying to deflect the focus of your own twisted games.

Annie: I just hold up a mirror, Erica -- what you see is what you are.

Erica: Oh, I know who I am. You're the one who needs to take a good long, hard look in the mirror, Annie.

Annie: Ok, you know what? This is getting boring.

Erica: Oh, I'm sorry. Did I remind you of all the damage you've caused?

Annie: I am not responsible for what happens to people who try to hurt me. Self-defense is no crime.

Erica: You have committed so many crimes that I can't even keep count. But the one that's really gonna burn a hole in your soul is what you're doing to Emma.

Annie: No. The real crime here is hearing that sweet girl's name coming out of your vicious lips!

Erica: Oh, I see. Here is the Annie we've all come to know and -- whatever. You think this coffee is hot? Just wait till you get a taste of hell.

Ryan: I know you can hear me, Ems. I know you can. I know you can hear me. Which means you can hear how much I love you. I love you so much. You can hear how badly I want you to wake up so we can laugh. We can play. We can play. You can play with all your animals. You can play with Spike. You can go to the park. Come on, Ems, you got to wake up. You got to wake up.

Ryan: How was your, um -- how was your coffee break with Annie?

Erica: It was exhausting but oddly satisfying.

Ryan: Zach was here.

Erica: Has he heard anything more about Kendall?

Ryan: No, he hasn't. He has no idea where she could be either. He has no idea.

Erica: Ok, you know what? I'm going down to the police station. I'm going to see what I can find out. Ok?

Ryan: I'm sure Jesse's got every man he's got on this.

Erica: Ok.

Ryan: Take care of yourself, ok?

Erica: And you try and get some rest, ok?

Jesse: Ok. Bertolli!

Zach: What you got?

Jesse: Police chopper spotted a blue car behind Wildwind under some trees.

Zach: A blue car? That's it? Aidan's car isn't blue.

Jesse: Well, the getaway car was blue. I'm gonna go check it out myself now. You coming?

Zach: No. Let them get away.

Amanda: You definitely look good.

Aidan: Yeah, I'm good to go. You?

Kendall: Yeah. Yeah, I'm ready.

Aidan: I'm just gonna get some water and some food, and then we'll head out.

Kendall: Ok. Amanda, I can't thank you enough. Thank you for everything, for all of your help.

Amanda: I just wish I could do more. Hey, I'll get some blankets for you guys to take on the way.

Kendall: Ok. Thanks.

David: What the hell are you doing here? Agh! Ohh --

[Amanda hits David over the head with a shovel]

Kendall: Oh, my God. Is he dead?!

Aidan: What happened?

Amanda: Run. Just go! You guys, run!

Aidan: Kendall, quick. Come on, let's go. Come on.

Kendall: Thank you, Amanda.

Bailey: He's finally asleep, I think.

Liza: Well, this is the time when a smart mom tries to catch her own winks. Hmm?

[Phone rings]

Bailey: Oh, it's my mom. I'll call her back later.

Liza: So does -- do they know where you are now?

Bailey: Yeah.

Liza: So how do your folks feel about all of this?

Bailey: I guess I kind of exaggerated when I said they forced me into the adoption. Ok, I exaggerated a lot.

Liza: They didn't -- they didn't force you to give the baby up?

Bailey: They said it was up to me. But the thing is I wanted them to make the decision. I didn't want it to be up to me.

Liza: I mean, yeah, it's -- it's quite a responsibility.

Bailey: I didn't want to take control of my own life, forget about my baby's. It just happened so fast, way too fast. So I just let him go. I tried to be ok with that at first. I just tried to put it out of my head. But I wasn't ok. I had this little guy growing inside of me for so long, you know, and I learned all of his moves. And then he was gone. And there was this empty feeling that wouldn't go away, no matter what -- no matter what I did. Like my insides were hollow, and they were never gonna be full again.

Liza: Hey. Come here.

[Bailey cries]

Liza: It's ok. It's ok.

Annie: Any change? I suppose Erica gave you a complete blow-by-blow how she tried to humiliate me? Not that I really care.

Ryan: I'm gonna go check with Emma's doctors and see if any of the test results are back.

Annie: Let me know if you find out anything.

Ryan: Let me be real clear about this. I'm gonna be right down the hall. I'll have a perfect view of the door here to this room. So don't think you can get away with anything.

Annie: If you're insinuating I might try to kidnap Emma, trust me, Ryan, I don't have to. She's already mine.

[Annie walks into Emma's hospital room]

Annie: It's just you and me now, baby. Everything's going to be ok.

Emma: Mommy, can I open my eyes now?
