David: Yes, I know it's short notice, Father, but it is very important to us. Thank you. Thank you. I can't tell you how much we appreciate this. We'll be there as soon as possible. Ok.

Amanda: What was that all about?

David: That was Father Markham. He's agreed to christen Trevor tonight.

Amanda: Tonight?

David: Yeah.

Amanda: You and I just started talking about this. I haven't had time to make arrangements, invite anyone.

David: It's all right. I've taken care of everything. We have the priest, the church. All we need is the mother, the father, and the baby.

Amanda: What about the godparents? Don't I get a say in that?

David: All right, wait a minute. Don't tell me. You want Jake to be the godfather?

Jesse: Whatever you get out of Annie up in that room will be inadmissible. All you'll have on your hands is a kidnapping charge, Zach. You need something you can use in court.

Zach: I'm not looking for anything to use in court, Jesse.

Jesse: What are you looking for? What are you trying to do?

Zach: I want to break Annie. And if Aidan does his job, she will tell the truth to anyone who will listen.

Aidan: You want out of here, Annie? You want your freedom back? Answer my question: What happened out there on the terrace?

Annie: All right. I'll tell you. All I wanted was my daughter, my beautiful Emma. I didn't mean for anybody to get hurt.

Scott: She said that? She said Emma killed my dad?

Ryan: And she's threatening to go to the police. If I keep pushing Annie for a confession, that is what she's gonna do to get me to back off. And it's a lie, Scott, but she will do this, ok? To save her own skin, she will sacrifice our daughter.

Scott: What kind of a mother does that? What kind of a mother accuses their own daughter of shooting a man dead?

Emma: I didn't do it, Daddy! I didn't kill Stuart!

Ryan: I know. Ok, sweets, I know you didn't. I know. Nobody thinks you did, ok?

Emma: Why did Mommy say that?

Erica: Adam, what has happened to you? No one's ever been able to play you for the fool like this before. Are you listening to me, Adam? Annie Lavery killed your brother, and you just let her go? Why? Why would you do that? Answer me.

Stuart: Listen to me, Adam. You're not a fool. You know what happened there that night. You were there. You saw it all.

Adam: I did -- I did. I did. I saw it all.

Erica: Adam, what are you talking about? What did you see?

Adam: Stuart. I saw -- I saw Stuart.

Erica: You mean the night he was killed?

Adam: I -- I thought it was all in my head. I thought I was just imagining what I expected to be there with Hayward's drugs in my head, but that -- it wasn't that. I was right here in this room, and I saw it all. And I watched my brother die.

Erica: Adam, then you must've seen who did it. Please, Adam, please. You have to remember. You have to tell me who did it. Who pulled the trigger?

Adam: I don't know. All I -- all I remember is my brother's face. The, uh, the surprise, and -- the, uh, pain when he was struggling to breathe, and -- and the, uh, sadness when he realized he was going to die. I -- I asked to give me a favor, to help me, and he ended up dying.

Erica: Well, Adam, you can't blame yourself.

Adam: Of course, I can --

Erica: No, no, no. None of this is your fault.

Adam: It's all my fault. Every one of those people were there because I'd done something horrible to them. They all hated me so much, they wanted me dead. If I'd just been a better man, a man more like my brother Stuart, he'd still be alive.

Ryan: I know you're so confused. I know, and you're probably scared, right? You don't know what's going on. The night that Stuart died, it was very scary. It really was, and not just for you: For a lot of people, for your mom. And that's probably why she's saying these things that she's saying, because she's scared that she's gonna get in trouble.

Emma: Am I in trouble?

Ryan: No. No, no, you're not in trouble. I'm gonna take care of you. I'm gonna make sure nothing happens to you, ok? You just got to be truthful with me. Ok?

Scott: Listen, I, uh, I'm gonna get back to the search, ok? I'll call you later. Bye, Emma.

Ryan: Ok.

[Door closes]

Ryan: Yep, just you and me. Just you and me, kiddo, ok? Now, I need you to tell me the truth.

Emma: I can't. Mommy said I had to keep a secret.

Annie: It all went wrong. It wasn't supposed to happen like this. I didn't want to tie you up. I didn't want to hurt you. But you were -- you were helping me. You were trying to get me out of the country before I got caught, and you were amazing. But you wanted me to leave without Emma, and I couldn't do that. But you're right. You're so right. I just should've listened to you. If I'd listened to you, we could've lived this perfect life. It could've been you, me, and Emma forever.

Aidan: Now you're just playing games with me, Annie. You broke the rule, and you're making me very angry!

Amanda: Jake is my husband. He is Trevor's stepfather, someone that will be there for him while he grows up, someone I want giving him practical and spiritual advice to, and isn't that the definition of a godparent?

David: He's also the reason why I missed out on the first few month's of Trevor's life.

Amanda: Oh, will you stop blaming Jake for that? That was my doing, ok? He was only doing what I told him to do. And besides, I thought you said that you were ready to accept Jake as part of our lives.

David: Yes, I am, but come on, Amanda. Give me at least a step at a time. I think I've been pretty reasonable when it comes to Jake. I've already given in a lot.

Amanda: "Given in"?

David: Yeah.

Amanda: I gave up my life with my husband to move in here and co-parent our son. I am trying everything I can to make this work. If anyone has given in, it is me. And I think that I have every right to name the godparent of my baby. Look, Jake is already a huge part of Trevor's life. And this will only make it a more lasting commitment, unless you have some plans of trying to cut him out again.

David: All right, look, I'll make you a deal. You get to pick the godfather if I get to choose the godmother.

Amanda: That depends. Who do you have in mind?

David: Marissa. It would mean a lot to me.

Amanda: Ohh. You have a deal.

David: Great.

Amanda: I'll call Jake.

David: Uh, you know, don't you think it would mean a lot more if it -- if it came from me?

Zach: Annie cost my wife everything. It ends tonight.

Jesse: I believed in Kendall's innocence, which is why I agreed to keep her here instead of sending her to prison. I know what it's like to be separated from your family without having done anything wrong. But this is not part of the plan.

Kendall: Jesse, we didn't know it would come to this.

Zach: All right, Chief. Why don't you go up there, kick the door in, and protect Annie from what she deserves, huh? Go up there. Do the right thing.

Annie: Please untie me.

Aidan: What I want is for you to follow the rule: Answer my questions and tell me the truth.

Annie: I am telling you the truth. Aidan, I loved you. But you had done everything that you could. You saved me from Sinclair, from Oak Haven.

Aidan: Why don't we just get to the truth already? Huh? Let's just stop messing around and just tell me the truth. Then I'll let you go free. You left me down there in that cellar, and then you went on a mission.

Annie: Aidan, once you fell down those stairs, I knew what I had to do. There was no turning back.

Aidan: That night on the terrace, you did it, didn't you? You killed Stuart.

Annie: Yes. Yes, I did. I had to get Emma out of that house. But Stuart got in my way. So I shot him. And I used drugged-up Adam as my alibi.

Aidan: Ohh --

Annie: Well? Isn't that what you wanted to hear? Fine. Tell me what you want to hear, and I will say it! I just have to get out of this room, and I have to go see my daughter.

Ryan: This secret that you have with your mom, it's actually hurting you in here. It is. And your mommy should never have asked you to keep something inside, especially something this serious. Ok? Now, I want to help you. I really want to help you. I want to fix things. But you got to tell me the truth.

Emma: I have to talk to Mommy first.

Amanda: Thanks for coming so fast.

Marissa: Well, I haven't exactly been keeping up my promise to you. When you moved in here, I told that I'd be around for moral support, and I've been out of the house, like, constantly.

Amanda: J.R.?

Marissa: Yeah. Yeah.

Amanda: It's -- no worries. I totally understand.

Marissa: But you're ok, though, right? I mean, David hasn't done anything, has he?

Amanda: Just a sudden last-minute decision to have Trevor's christening tonight.

Marissa: Whoa. What's the rush?

Amanda: I don't know. Ask David. Anyway, the important part is lining up his godparents, and we would like you to be Trevor's godmother.

Marissa: Wow. Really?

Amanda: Yeah. I mean, you're already family, and it's the only thing that David and I actually agreed on. So are you ok with it?

Marissa: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I -- I was just getting used to the idea of being aunt. This is -- even if it's just ceremonial, it's something that I would really want to take seriously.

Amanda: Well, hey, it's not like you're gonna be up there on your own. Jake is going to be Trevor's godfather.

Marissa: Jake? And David's ok with that?

Amanda: No. But he's pretending to be.

Marissa: He's trying really hard to make this all work.

Amanda: He's trying really hard to get me to fall in love with him and forget Jake.

Marissa: Yeah. Well, he desperately wants to have a family.

Amanda: I can't give him that. My heart belongs to Jake.

Jake: All right, I want you to prep Mrs. Cropper, and you tell that lovely lady I will see her in the O.R.

David: No, you won't. Tell Dr. Stancil he'll be performing Mrs. Cropper's surgery this evening. This way, Doctor.

Jake: Ok. All right, let's get this straight. You like to play nice-nice in front of Amanda, right? But then when we get to work, you want to throw your weight and your rank around to show me up, to me in my place?

David: No. Actually, I'm both playing nice and pulling rank. I'm clearing your schedule so you can attend Trevor's christening this evening. And look: Amanda's nowhere in sight. I'm just full of surprises, aren't I?

Jake: Ok, so a couple of last-minute invitations, and then you let my wife see me, you know, an hour here, an hour there. You think that's gonna make her change the way she feels about you? I'll tell you, Dave, we do know what you're up to, ok? Just so you know.

David: Yeah. See, no, you're wrong about that, too. This is Amanda's idea. She's the one that wants you to be the godfather of Trevor. I'm just passing along the invitation. Come on, Jake. You don't think I know what's going on? I'm not the one with the agenda here. You and Amanda are testing me. You're trying to see how far you can push me before I give up, and I let Amanda move back in with you.

Jake: Look, Dave, I know you hate me. And I know you hate me being anywhere near Trevor or being in Amanda's bed, for that matter. But if what you say is true, why don't you just cut her loose right now?

David: I'm doing this for my son, Jake. He needs to be with his mother, so I'm giving in to her desires. Otherwise, you're absolutely right. I wouldn't let you get involved in any way, shape, or form. But something you need to keep in mind, Jake: Trevor will never be your son. He's my flesh and blood. He's my son. You're nothing to him.

Zach: This is gonna end, Jesse. Let it play itself out.

[Phone rings]

Jesse: Hubbard.

Ryan: Anything on Annie?

Jesse: Um, no. Annie has not been seen at the airports or the bus stations, but I'm guessing she's still in town.

Ryan: You got to find her, Jesse, now.

Jesse: What happened?

Ryan: Emma is ready to tell me the truth about the secret that Annie made her keep, except that she wants to talk to her first.

Jesse: Ryan, you know I'll do everything I can to find her. Just keep Emma talking. Maybe she'll open up anyway.

Kendall: What is it? What happened?

Jesse: Well, things just got one hell of a lot more complicated.

Annie: What the hell do you want from me? I told you I did it! Well, I'll say anything you want me to say. Please, just untie me and take me to my daughter, Aidan!

Aidan: Annie, you know what I want, all right? I want the truth. And you're not leaving here until I get it!

Annie: I can't! Don't you understand that?!

Aidan: No, I don't get it. I don't understand. So why don't you explain it to me?

Annie: Aidan, please. Please, if you ever cared about me, if what we had ever meant anything, you will take me to see Emma. I just have to be with my daughter right now.

Aidan: Why? Why do you have to go and see Emma now?

Annie: Because I told her not to tell anyone the truth. I made her promise me. And because she loves me, she's gonna keep that promise, and it is tearing her up inside. And I have to go tell her that she doesn't have to do that anymore. Please, Aidan, take me to my daughter.

Kendall: Emma? We've always thought she was the key to this, so we're close.

Jesse: Well, let's not get our hopes up just yet. She might be ready to talk, but not without her mother there. And Annie. Annie. Unpredictable

Annie: Who knows?

Aidan: Hello, Chief. Fancy seeing you here.

Jesse: Yeah. Right.

Zach: He knows what's been going on up there.

Kendall: So what she say? Did you get anything out of her?

Jesse: Even more important, what did you do to her?

Aidan: No, I didn't lay a hand on her, ok? But I did make some progress.

Kendall: She confessed?

Aidan: Well, not in the way we want. Annie's willing to say anything in order to see Emma, so she told me that she did it. But maybe it's just a ploy to get out of there.

Zach: So what progress did you make?

Aidan: I got Annie to admit that Emma's keeping a big secret about what happened that night. And she made Emma promise not to tell anyone whatever that secret is. Oh, and she feels guilty now for what she put Emma through.

Kendall: Oh. Well, it's about time.

Aidan: And she wants Emma to know that it's ok to tell.

Zach: And she will tell, but not without her mother?

Aidan: So what are we waiting for? If all Annie wants in order to tell us the truth is to see Emma and talk to her, let's get these two together.

Zach: We're not gonna do it here. Too many people know about our secret room.

Aidan: So far, I'm the only one Annie knows is involved. I could sedate her, and then we could take her anywhere.

Jesse: Would you listen to what you're saying?

Aidan: What?

Jesse: You kidnapped this woman. You took upstairs and did God only knows what to her. Now you're talking about drugging her up? Dropping her off for a play date with her daughter? You think she's gonna keep quiet about that? No! And, hey, why don't we just bring Ryan in on this?

Zach: We're gonna tell Ryan just enough so he can get us what we need.

Scott: Is he ok?

Erica: I don't know.

Erica: Uh, he seemed to be lost in a real memory. He realized that he saw Stuart get shot. And -- and I asked him to try to remember some more. I asked him to tell me who did it. And I think maybe that was too much for him and he had to lie down.

Adam: Huh?

Stuart: Hi. You always knew the answers. Even when I didn't know something, I always knew that you'd know it.

Adam: I don't -- I don't have the answer this time, Stuart. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Stuart: Oh, please, Adam. Please.

Scott: Uncle Adam?

Adam: What happened?

Scott: You were having a dream.

Adam: Oh, no. No, I was -- I was having a nightmare. I used to think about him all the time. So shortly after he died, it was all grief. And then thinking about him, I began to enjoy thinking about him and his smile and that -- that gentle way he had of making us laugh. And -- but now it's -- well, it's more like he's haunting me. It's as if he says he can't -- he can't be free until I find out who killed him.

Erica: So you don't think it was Kendall who killed him?

Adam: I -- I have no idea. I don't know. I don't -- I just don't know. I don't know. I don't know what I think. I mean, Annie running off like that. Could she just disappear? Any word on her?

Scott: No. I -- I went over to Ryan's. He hasn't seen Annie now since this morning.

Adam: There's something you're not saying. What -- what is it?

Scott: Emma overheard Ryan and me talking about Annie pinning the murder on Emma.

Adam: Oh, God.

Scott: Yeah, it freaked Emma out.

Erica: What did Emma say?

Scott: I think she was going to tell Ryan the truth about what happened that night. I, uh, I had to leave at that point. But I get the feeling that Emma really did see Annie kill my father.

Adam: Well, I would have to look that little girl straight in the eye before I'd believe it.

[Ryan chuckles]

Ryan: Oh, you're killing me. Ok, my turn.

[Phone rings]

Ryan: Oh. Ok, hold on. Don't move it. I'll be right back. Jesse? Hey, talk to me. Did you find her?

Jesse: I told you I would.

Ryan: Where has she been?

Jesse: I, um, what's important now is that she is in my custody.

Ryan: Jesse, I'm hearing something in your voice. What's going on? Is he helping her again?

Jesse: Actually, he was the one who, uh, detained her.

Ryan: What are you talking about? What's going on?

Jesse: I tell you what. You know, I'm gonna let Zach explain it to you.

Zach: Hello, Ryan.

Ryan: Why am I not surprised? So Annie didn't run off? You actually grabbed her?

Zach: The only thing that matters right now is that Emma wants to talk.

Ryan: Yeah. So put Annie on the phone, and we'll get this done.

Zach: No. They want a face-to-face.

Ryan: No way.

Zach: I understand where you're coming from. But this is what Annie wants. And it's Kendall's only chance at freedom and Emma's chance to put all this behind her. Don't stand in the way.

Amanda: Hi.

Jake: Hi.

Amanda: I wasn't sure if you were gonna come.

Jake: Yeah. What kind of a godfather would I be if I didn't show up to do my godfather, you know, responsibilities? Trevor needs to know I'll be around for him. So --

Amanda: He will always know that. Forget DNA: You are Trevor's father.

Jake: Hmm.

Amanda: You always will be.

Jake: Tell it to the priest.

Amanda: Listen, when -- when I promise God that I will raise Trevor properly alongside his father and give him a great life, I will be talking about you, not David.

Jake: Sounds good.

Father Markham: We're gathered here tonight to witness and support in love and faith the christening of Trevor Hayward, son of Amanda Dillon Martin and David Hayward. Now, Trevor has just begun his journey in this life, and he'll rely on you, Amanda, and you, David, not only for the material comfort and love and support that a parent gives to a child, but also for the spiritual guidance, wisdom, and goodness that every child needs to reflect the love of God on earth. We're called upon to make very important decisions in this life, and today you've made one that's among the most sacred that we could make. As Trevor's godparents, you'll be called upon to look after him, not only in the absence of his parents, but also in conjunction with them. Marissa, Jake, do you promise to look after the well-being of Trevor and to support him in goodness throughout his life?

Jake: Of course.

Marissa: We do.

Father Markham: Very good. As Trevor's parents, it's your duty to set a good example. For this child was born out of the love that you share for one another.

[Trevor fusses]

Father Markham: Isn't that right? Yeah? And that's a union that reflects God's love for us. David, we'd like to ask you. Do you promise to always support Trevor in love, to teach him, guide him, and provide a home that's filled with love for him?

David: I do.

Father Markham: Amanda, do you promise to always support Trevor in love, to teach him, guide him, and always provide a home that's filled with love for him?

Amanda: I do.

[Trevor fusses]

Father Markham: Here we go. There we go. Whoa. Hey there. Hi. This is the a big moment now, ok? Trevor, I baptize you in the name of the father, of the son, and the holy spirit. Amen. Here, will you hold him?

Amanda: Yes.

Father Markham: There we go.

Amanda: Yeah, you did it. Good job. Yes.

Kendall: You don't think this is gonna work, do you?

Zach: I don't like not being in control. I should've taken her over there myself.

Kendall: Zach, Annie threatened to accuse her own daughter.

Zach: So what happens next? What if Emma's there and she looks at her mother and says, "Well, I'm gonna keep my secret for the rest of my life"?

Kendall: Emma will do the right thing. She has to. She's my only hope.

Zach: That's what worries me.

Annie: What happened? How did I get here?

Ryan: Everybody's been looking for you, Annie. I was at the police station. A call came in, an anonymous tip about an abandoned warehouse across town. Jesse's guys were all busy, so he asked me to check it out.

Annie: Yeah. It's a nice story, Ryan. Were you in on this the whole time with Aidan?

Ryan: I brought you here because you're saying Emma's name over and over again.

Annie: Emma? Is she -- is she here?

Ryan: Yes, she is. But first, you got to tell me the truth.

Annie: Is that it? Aidan couldn't scare a strong-enough confession out of me, so now it's your turn? It's not gonna happen, Ryan.

Ryan: Well, if you don't tell me, Emma will. Ems, come on down! Your mom's awake!

Emma: Mommy, Mommy!

Annie: Hi, honey. Baby, hi. It's so good to see you!

Emma: I waited for you just like I promised. I didn't tell Daddy, but I want to so he can fix it.

[Pounding on door]

Adam: Ryan! It's Adam Chandler.

Annie: Oh, Adam. Oh, my God. Oh, thank God you found me!

Marissa: Oh, you found it. I told Amanda I'd come in and get it. It's one of Trevor's favorites.

Jake: Hmm. He's probably too young to care, don't you think?

Marissa: Are you gonna be ok?

Jake: I'm just in the middle of a situation that's, uh, very uncomfortable. And it's affecting me in ways I didn't -- I didn't know it could. When I was standing next to them -- and Trevor, of course -- tonight, I just -- I realized how on the sidelines I really am. And it -- it's not gonna work.

Marissa: Hey, don't give up yet. Amanda loves you so much. You are the only one that she wants to be with.

Jake: Yeah. But she shares a baby with Dave, and that's a bond that you can't break.

David: You ok?

Amanda: Yeah. Just looking at him -- grows up so fast, I can't believe it. You're so big! I remember when he was born thinking that I wouldn't know what his voice would sound like. But now I will. Yes, I will. Hmm. I wonder what his first words are gonna be. I bet it's gonna be something in Spanish, because he's taken to watching my telenovelas with me. Haven't you? Yes. Te amo, Trevor. Te amo.

David: You do realize we made a commitment tonight, to raise our son together. We made that promise to God: To raise him in a stable home with love all around him. Well, I want you to know that I intend to keep that promise.

Father Markham: Oh. Hi.

Jake: Hey. Sorry. I, uh, I had some extra thinking to do, so I hope you don't mind.

Father Markham: No, not at all. That's one of the things this place is good for.

Jake: Very nice sermon or whatever.

Father Markham: Thank you. Thank you.

Jake: The, uh, thing you said about, uh, commitment, uh, opened my eyes in ways that I didn't really expect, you know?

Father Markham: It's one of the pleasures of my job, you know, to see a couple so committed like that with a baby. Hmm. Jake, uh, you all right? Is there anything I can do for you?

Jake: No. Just, uh, unexpected irony just makes me cry. But thank you.

David: Hey. Care to join me? I just opened up a bottle in celebration of the occasion. It's really quite good.

Amanda: No, thank you. I, uh, I just came down here to make sure you and I were clear about the promises we made tonight.

David: Go on.

Amanda: I was making those promises to my son, not to you.

David: I respectfully disagree. It was about coming together, the three of us, as a family.

Amanda: Do you honestly think that I'm going to be living here forever?

David: Actually, I'm certain of it.

Kendall: Zach, I know you have a difficult time trusting people, especially Ryan. But what else do we have right now but trust? Trust that things will work out, that Emma will do the right thing. We can get through this. We will get through this. I mean, didn't I have to trust you? I had to trust that you knew exactly what you were doing when you snatched me from that courtroom and locked me away upstairs. And now it's your turn. Quit shutting me out of your heart because you think I've changed. I mean, of course, I've changed in some ways. A coma and a heart transplant will do that to you. But deep down, you know I am exactly the same woman I've always been, the same woman who promised to love you forever. Trust my instincts now. Trust our love, please.

[Kissing]

Adam: What happened? What did they do to you?

Annie: Ryan and Aidan -- they kidnapped me and drugged me.

Erica: Are you kidding? Stop the lying! You tried to kidnap Emma. You tried to get her out of the country. And now you concoct this idiotic story?

Annie: I was tortured by Aidan! Aidan, yes, tied me up and tried to get me to say I did things that I didn't do! And I can't even imagine what you've done to Emma, Ryan!

Ryan: I have done nothing to Emma but try to help her. I don't hurt her. You're the one who does that: Giving her lies and making her keep secrets.

Adam: I want the police here now! And you're gonna pay for this, Lavery. And that Devane is going down with you, buddy.

Erica: Adam, please. Don't do this. You said that you remember exactly what happened that night. Please don't fall back now on believing her lies!

Annie: This is all part of your big plan. You and Aidan want to make it look like I killed Stuart. You're trying to pin it on me to save Kendall from prison. That's what you're trying to do!

Scott: Why don't we all just calm down so we can figure out exactly what happened?

Annie: I didn't know how far you would go!

Ryan: How about you tell the truth for once in your life? Yeah, one time?

[As everyone shouts at once, Emma runs into the hall where Adam approaches her]

Emma: No! Leave me alone!

Adam: Remember?

[Emma screams as she falls down the stairs then lies at the bottom unconscious]
