[Doorbell rings]
Erica: Good morning.
Kendall: Uh, is -- is everything ok?
Erica: Well, that depends. Are you ready?
Kendall: For?
Erica: For a hard day at the office. What else?
Liza: Your honor, the charges against Kendall Slater should be dropped immediately.
Jesse: Annie Lavery has been charged with the attempted murder of Adam Chandler.
A.D.A. Willis: Mrs. Slater is charged with the murder of Stuart Chandler.
Liza: Your entire case against Kendall is based on the fact that Stuart was mistaken for Adam. Annie Lavery committed both crimes.
A.D.A. Willis: There's absolutely no evidence to prove that.
Liza: Oh, so what? It's just pure coincidence that she tried to kill Adam Chandler in the very same manner from the very same spot that his brother was shot?
A.D.A. Willis: Coincidence or a set-up attempt.
Liza: Your honor, Mrs. Slater has had these trumped-up charges hanging over her head for far too long. I urge you to dismiss them. Let her get back to her family, and let the chief of police be free to pursue the real perpetrator -- Annie Lavery.
Annie: Oh, you came. Thank God. Adam. I'm so happy to see you. And I'm -- I'm not angry that you had me arrested. I'm just so glad that you changed your mind. Now you can tell them that you realize I'm innocent, that I was set up. Oh, God. You still don't believe me.
Ryan: Emma, I owe you a really big apology. When you told me that you saw Kendall shoot Stuart, I thought -- I thought you were just saying that to protect your mom. I really did. I'm so sorry because now I... I just -- I'm sorry, and I'll never doubt you again, ok? I won't. Hey. Can you forgive me? Yeah? Ok, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Hey, sweets, you gonna be ok if I go outside and talk to Zach for a sec? I'll be right outside the door. I'll be right back, ok? Make it quick.
Zach: Annie is in jail. But that doesn't mean that Emma can talk to anybody. You understand that. How's she doing?
Ryan: She's terrified, and she's traumatized.
Zach: Well, that's Annie's fault. I'm gonna make her pay.
Ryan: As long as Emma doesn't say anything about seeing Kendall shoot Stuart, right, again to anybody else because then the charges against Kendall may be dropped and then you set up Annie for absolutely no reason.
Zach: I did what was necessary. I'm asking you to do the same thing.
Ryan: No, you did exactly what you had to do to get what you wanted. To hell with everybody else.
Zach: What I want? Annie's in jail. Kendall's with the boys. That's what we all wanted, huh?
Ryan: I want you to stay away from my daughter.
Zach: She's a tough kid. She's your daughter. She'll be just fine. And you know what? In the end, it's gonna be worth it, because the right person is being punished.
Ryan: Kendall truly believes that she shot Stuart. She admitted that everything Emma said was absolutely true, and you still don't think there's a chance that she did it.
Zach: Not a chance in hell. She's innocent.
Kendall: You go to Fusion, Mom. I'm not up for it.
Erica: Well, I'm not giving you a choice.
Kendall: How could I possibly work at a time like this?
Erica: This is a wonderful time. You've been all but exonerated. Everything's worked out exactly as we hoped.
Kendall: And what about Annie?
Erica: Annie's gonna spend the rest of her life in jail.
Kendall: For a murder I committed.
Erica: Do not say that. How about a slew of crimes that she hasn't been punished for?
Kendall: This isn't right.
Erica: You listen to me, Kendall. You have two beautiful children who need you and a husband who I know wants to get your marriage back on track, and a company that you need to turn around. Focus on that and nothing else.
Kendall: And what about the guilt that's eating away at me? I'm just supposed to ignore it?
Erica: Why in the world would you be guilty? A psychopath is finally getting punished for her crimes.
Kendall: Well, shouldn't I be punished, too?
Erica: Stuart's death was a tragedy, but you were not responsible.
Kendall: That's what I thought, too, Mom. But now I know the truth. I blocked it out.
Erica: Because you were not in a state of mind to be able to think or act rationally. It's over. Let it be over and move on.
Kendall: I don't know if I can.
Erica: Of course, you can. You can grab your life with both hands and don't waste one more minute before you start living it. Come on. Grab your keys and grab your bag. Let's go. Let's go back to work. Let's go back to business.
Annie: I know I've done some horrible things. I don't deny that. But I would never hurt you. Everything I said, everything I felt --
Adam: It was all part of your scheme.
Annie: No, no.
Adam: You wormed your way into my life. You fed me lies. You fawned all over me. All part of an act.
Annie: No, listen. Listen to me. I know what it looks like. It looks like I just came to you for your money and your connections, but that's not true. What we had was real.
Adam: No more lies! No more!
Annie: Adam.
Adam: No.
Annie: Look at me. Please. When I first moved in with you, I saw you as an ally, as a friend, someone who could help me get back my freedom and my daughter. But as time passed, things changed, and I fell in love with you. No one had ever cared for me like that before, made me feel so safe and so secure. I had searched for that feeling my whole life, and I -- I don't want that to end. I mean, I might be able to live without my freedom, but I -- I don't want to live without your love.
[Annie and Adam kiss]
Annie: Just don't say anything. Just -- just go. I want to remember you just like this. Just go.
[Adam walks out of the police department interrogation room]
Jack: So, Adam, a little rendezvous with your ex-lover, huh? How very unexpected.
Adam: Buzz off, all right?
Jack: You really fell hard for her, didn't you?
Adam: What are you doing here anyway? Trolling for customers?
Jack: Tell me something. Do you think Annie has a case, or do you think they've got her dead to rights? I'm sensing you're a little conflicted yet, Adam.
Adam: I'm sensing you're a moron.
Jack: Well, you did kiss her. I mean, I saw that. So tell me something. Is Annie -- is this about an attempted murder or was this a lover's spat gone wrong? Is Annie guilty or not, Adam? What do you think? in the police department interrogation room
Tad: Hey, Lt., pick a hand.
Taylor: Um, that one.
Tad: Pick another hand.
Taylor: Sorry. I meant that one.
Tad: Tada!
Taylor: Oh, breakfast. I'm starving.
Tad: No, no, no, no, no --
[Speaking French]
Tad: Avec les bars du candy.
Taylor: It's wonderful. I'm assuming you mean -- is that chocolate bars?
Tad: Specialty of the house. And I don't just share that with anybody, you know.
Taylor: Oh, thank you. To what do I owe this distinguished honor?
Tad: Well, aside from the fact that I survived a night on your sofa, you survived a night with a baby. I thought congratulations were in order.
Taylor: Are you kidding me? I didn't do anything. If you hadn't been here, I would have been dead.
Tad: No, no, no, no, no. Taylor, take the compliment, ok? You did great. You were terrific.
Taylor: All I did was handle the burglar.
Tad: She's not a bur -- I hardly think Amanda qualifies as a burglar. Why do you keep saying that? It's like there's something wrong with me. I just can't believe she was willing to break into your apartment to see the baby.
Taylor: She's a mother who was worried about her child. She seemed ok when she left, though, don't you think?
Tad: Oh, she's fine. She's fine. I just spoke with Jake, all right? I just wish I could say the same about your widescreen.
Taylor: Well, you know, I was thinking about that, and you break a TV, you can buy another one, but if you break a baby --
Tad: Deep. That's deep.
Taylor: It's so funny, you know. My whole life -- my whole life -- look how cute. Do you see he's smiling at me? I've known that my mission was to protect people, you know? So obviously that meant the military. But after spending so much time with this little beauty --
Tad: Look.
Taylor: Look at him. He loves me. I don't know. Maybe it means something else now, you know?
[Knock on door]
Tad: Oh, my -- just --
Taylor: You take the baby. Take the baby.
Brot: Hey.
Taylor: Hey.
Brot: Hey, we need to talk about the baby.
Liza: Your honor, Kendall Slater is innocent. Please don't make her suffer any longer.
Jesse: I've always suspected that Annie Lavery shot Stuart Chandler.
A.D.A. Willis: Once again, where's the evidence?
Judge: Mr. Willis is correct. You don't have enough.
Liza: So what are we gonna do? We're just gonna waste taxpayers' money going after the wrong woman?
Judge: No. Chief Hubbard continues his investigation. I'll further postpone Mrs. Slater's trial to give you more time. That's the best I can do.
Zach: Kendall is confused. She's saying things she doesn't mean.
Ryan: She said, "I killed Stuart." And she meant it and she believed it. She didn't sound very confused.
Zach: You know what? Stop pushing that.
Ryan: Well, when you go around making sure all your bases are covered, other people's lives are being ruined here, like my daughter's. She may never recover from this, ok? She was interrogated by two D.A.s, by you, by Kendall, by Liza, and even by me. Even I didn't believe my own daughter, and the whole time she was telling the truth.
Zach: You don't know that.
Ryan: You're right. I don't know exactly what the truth is, but neither do you, Zach. It seems like you're the only person who refuses the possibility that Kendall pulled that trigger. So what's it gonna take?
Zach: Oh, come on.
Ryan: Every single time you do this -- Zach, you try to control everyone and everything, people get hurt. Do you see that? And now you're trying to do it to my daughter? I mean, I'm done, man. I'm done scrambling for the right story. I'm done trying to help you get around the law. Finished.
Zach: You're done? So Kendall should just go to prison? That's it?
Ryan: No, you should stop trying to play God.
Zach: Oh, ok, it's about me. You were walking around just a few weeks ago telling everybody how much you love Kendall. And now you're accusing her of murder?
Ryan: Um, actually, no. I'm not accusing her of murder. She took care of that when she admitted to it herself.
Zach: And you believe it. You believe that she did that? Then you don't know her at all.
Annie: Zach Slater set me up, and I am sure of it, not that I expect you to believe me.
Jack: So you're telling me that this was not a lover's quarrel.
Annie: What? I shot at Adam because he rejected my marriage proposal? First of all, he didn't reject me. He said he needed more time. And second, it doesn't make any sense. Adam is the only person on the planet that's on my side. Why would I try to kill him?
Jack: I'm not saying you did, Annie. I'm just trying to get some facts together.
Annie: Well, the fact is that Zach did this and tried to make it look like I did, so that everybody in this town will think I'm a murderer. He did it to save Kendall.
Jack: Well, it certainly wouldn't be the first time he's done something like that. He, uh -- he covered for the fact that Kendall was the one that ran Greenlee off the road and killed her.
Annie: Yeah. And did they pay for that? No. Because Zach and Kendall never pay for anything.
Jack: Greenlee's death was ruled an accident.
Annie: I know. But they worked together to get off scot-free, and they are doing it again.
Jack: Yeah, Zach would do anything to protect Kendall. You're right about that.
Annie: So does this mean you'll take my case?
Jack: Yeah. You got yourself a lawyer.
Erica: Ah, distributors, department stores, photographers. Ok, I'll take half and you take half.
Kendall: Mom, I can't just shut this out of my mind. I killed a man and my husband pinned it on Annie. And now you want me to make phone calls about body glitter?
Erica: And what is the alternative? Sitting around worrying? Worrying about Annie? How much time do you think Annie spent worrying after she stabbed me? Or bashed her brother's skull in or put a bullet in Di Henry?
Kendall: Annie should pay for what she did, not what I did.
Erica: Ok. I'm gonna say this to you one more time. Annie Lavery is going to prison for what she did -- not what you did, not what Zach did -- what she did. And she has already wasted enough of your time and your energy. Refocus. Refocus on your family, on your company.
Kendall: I'm going to the police station right now to tell Jesse the truth.
Erica: You will do no such thing.
Kendall: Mom, I have to.
Erica: This is not just about you.
Kendall: You think I don't know that? It rips me apart to know that I have to live without my children.
Erica: What about my child?
Kendall: What are you talking about?
Erica: You. You can't go to the police and confess, because I can't live without you.
Brot: I guess nobody called you and told you.
Taylor: I don't know what baby you mean.
Brot: Randi had a miscarriage.
Taylor: Oh, my God. That's awful.
Brot: I know. And poor Frankie was making plans, you know, to buy a house, get a dog, and now --
Taylor: They must be devastated.
Brot: I mean, how can we pretend to even know how bad that hurts? How could we, right? What do we know about babies?
Taylor: Yeah. Have you seen them?
Brot: No, not yet. I was actually on my way to their house right now. I'm gonna take them some food and, you know, support them, hang out. That's if they're up for it, at least.
Taylor: I'll call her. Would you hug them for me?
Brot: Well, I was actually thinking maybe you can come along. I mean, I know we're not together, but we can go as friends.
Taylor: No, no, no. I know what you mean. I wish that I could. I just, um -- I can't do it right now. It's not a good time.
Brot: Ok.
Taylor: No, no, no, Brot. I want to go with you. I really do. It's just I can't because --
Tad: Shower's all yours, kitten. It's a good thing, too, man. You know, the water pressure -- it's fierce. It's really good for the scalp.
Brot: You know what? I got to run.
Liza: Damn it. He should have dropped those charges.
Jesse: Yeah, at least we got the next best thing -- time.
Liza: Yeah, I mean it's something. It's not what I wanted, but it is something. And Annie -- you're still going after her for killing Stuart, right?
Jesse: Damn straight I will.
Liza: Don't give up. Jesse, I know the evidence is out there.
Jesse: Even if all the signs point to Annie, it might not be enough to stop this train. Kendall may still have to stand trial.
Zach: That's not gonna happen.
Annie: So do you have a theory on who killed Stuart?
Jack: I couldn't say.
Annie: Or you just don't want to say.
Jack: No, it's just that there were a hell of a lot of people at the Chandler Mansion.
Annie: Yeah, but there was only one killer -- Kendall. It's ok. You're not the only one who doesn't want to say it out loud.
Jack: It's not that. I'm here to discuss your case, not Kendall's. I want to hear your side of it, then see if we can get to the truth, so.
Annie: But then you should be talking to Kendall, not me.
Jack: Annie, you're my client...
Annie: I know, but I need to know that you really know that I didn't kill Stuart. The only way you can do that is if you're face-to-face with Kendall. One look into her eyes and you will see the guilt.
Jack: Annie, I'm not sure looking into someone's eyes --
Annie: She has the eyes of a killer. I should know. I have them, too.
Erica: I want my daughter in my life. And for God's sakes, we just got you back.
Kendall: Mom, I feel guilty enough. Please, please don't make this any harder than it already is.
Erica: Do you know how much you mean to me? Do you have any idea? We fought so hard to get to where we are. There were times, there were so many times, I didn't even think that we would speak to each other again, let alone become close. But we have, because we kept on, somehow, just coming back to each other, because I think we both knew that if we could just get past the anger and the pain and forgive, we would find something wonderful, and we have. I am not prepared to give that up, Kendall. I know that I have not always been there for you, but I am now. And we have so much to do. We have projects to finish, and we have ideas to dream up, to imagine. And we have holidays to celebrate. We have two amazing, beautiful boys to spoil rotten. I can't do that without you. So you want to do the right thing. You be with your family. You watch your little boys grow up. Nothing could be more right than that. You promise me. Promise me that you will not go to the police.
Jack: I certainly hope I haven't come at a bad time.
Erica: Oh, of course not. We were just making some plans.
Jack: I see. Kendall, if you've got a minute, I'd like to talk to you about the case.
Erica: The case? Jack, you no longer represent Kendall.
Jack: That's true. I have a new client -- Annie Lavery.
Erica: You're defending that lunatic? What's wrong with you?
Jack: Annie has a right to counsel just like anyone else.
Erica: But this? How could you do this? How could you take her side against Kendall's? Oh, of course. This is payback. Yes. You lost your daughter. Now you want to make sure that I lose mine.
Jack: You can't believe that, Erica.
Erica: You resigned as Kendall's attorney when she told you that she ran Greenlee off the road. You lost your daughter. You really expect me to believe that this is not about revenge?
Kendall: All right, I'm leaving.
Erica: Oh, Kendall, Kendall.
Kendall: Bye.
Erica: Well now look what you've done. Why are you even here?
Jack: Annie suggested I come.
Erica: Oh, Annie suggested -- did she lend you her knife as well? Well, I guess you didn't need it. You already stabbed my daughter and me in the back.
Jack: Annie said if I looked into Kendall's eyes, I would see her guilt, that I would see clear as day that she killed Stuart.
Erica: Oh. Why don't you go read some tea leaves? You're not going anywhere near my daughter.
Jack: I don't need to. One look into your eyes tells me everything I need to know.
Annie: Thank you for coming.
Aidan: Still trying to figure out why you called.
Annie: It's happening again.
Aidan: If you're in trouble, Annie, you should call a lawyer.
Annie: I need you, Aidan. You're the only person who understands. You're the only person who knows everything I've been through, first with Richie and then with Dr. Sinclair, being accused of something I didn't do. Now this whole town -- this whole town is doing it to me again. I mean, even Jesse's in on it.
Aidan: I'm sorry, Annie. I can't do this.
Annie: D-do it for Emma. I know after the way I treated you I have no right asking you for help, but --
Aidan: Then why would you? You made it quite clear that I'm no longer useful to you anymore.
Annie: It wasn't like that, Aidan. You were just -- you were sacrificing so much for me. You were willing to put your life on hold to fix my problems. I didn't want to burden you like that anymore.
Aidan: Not when you had Adam Chandler in the wings.
Annie: Back then I just thought that Adam was my best chance at getting my daughter back.
Aidan: And things changed after you tried to shoot him.
Annie: You have to believe me. I didn't do this. I need your help, Aidan.
Aidan: What do you want me to do?
Annie: Just hear me out.
Aidan: Ok, I'm listening.
Annie: It was late. I heard a noise on the Chandler terrace. So I went outside to check it out, and I found a broken flower pot on the ground. I bent down to pick up the pieces and there was a gunshot. And there was a bullet through the window. I look up to see Adam staring at me through broken glass. Zach set up this trap, and I walked right into it.
Aidan: I still don't know what you need from me.
Annie: Investigate. Prove that Zach set me up. You know what he's capable of, and you know he would do anything to save his precious Kendall.
Aidan: I don't even know why I'm considering this.
Annie: Because you're a good man -- the best I've ever known.
Ryan: What are you doing?
Adam: Um, I need to see Emma.
Ryan: No, you don't. She's got nothing to do with this anymore.
Adam: It's urgent. I need to speak with her.
Ryan: Why, so you can be another person to question her about Stuart's murder? No. That's not gonna happen. Sorry, Adam, but I know what you're up to. You think if Emma points the finger at Kendall, that means Annie hasn't been out to hurt you this entire time. Well, I'll tell you what I think. I think she has, and I think she's using you, and I don't think anything Emma says is gonna change that, so there's no way I'm gonna let you interrogate her to gratify your own ego.
Adam: A couple of months ago, my whole house was filled with would-be assassins. They were all after my blood, you know.
Ryan: With very good reason.
Adam: Yeah. It was me against the world that night, and I've never felt so alone and helpless in my life. Now that's exactly the way Annie feels now. And maybe I deserve a firing squad, but Annie doesn't.
Ryan: So -- you think that she's innocent?
Adam: I think this whole town is teaming up to burn her. I think they're determined to make her pay, whether she had anything to do with it or not.
Ryan: You're talking about Zach and Kendall.
Adam: What about Erica or J.R.? The list goes on. And all of them are trying to convince me that she's guilty for their own selfish reasons. Their story is full of holes, period. And now they've come up with something that could do more convincing -- a second attempt on my life.
Ryan: So you do think that Annie is innocent.
Adam: I think she's being persecuted. And Annie doesn't deserve that. Shame on anyone who lets it happen.
Erica: Adam, what are you talking about?
Adam: I was just leaving.
Ryan: Good. Stay away from my daughter.
Zach: You were supposed to get the charge against Kendall dropped. What happened?
Liza: I did get us more time. We're not going to trial tomorrow.
Zach: We're not going to trial at all.
Liza: Huh. Because you won't let her, will you?
Zach: Damn right I won't.
Liza: You know, Zach, when I told Kendall that Annie was arrested, she didn't seem happy. She actually seemed mortified. That's because you shot at Adam, right, and you framed Annie?
Zach: Do you want me to respond to that?
Liza: Why, Zach? If your wife's innocent, why are you framing Annie?
Zach: I'm not gonna put my wife's future in the hands of 12 complete strangers. You understand?
Liza: Perfectly.
Tad: Taylor, I'm sorry, ok? I'm really, really sorry.
Taylor: Brot just saw you wearing a robe. What is he supposed to think now?
Tad: That I have great legs. Look, it was a bad call, ok? I know it was a bad call, but I had to do something. I am sorry if Brot got hurt.
Taylor: Hurt?! Hurt? You're in a robe. If the shoe was on the other foot, and I walked in and saw a girl in a robe --
Tad: Well, that's just it. We can't afford to have anybody walk in, you know? God forbid Trevor should start crying. And not for nothing, but you two are broken up. You did break up with him. You can't avoid the unexpected, you know, run-into thing. It happens. It's a small town.
Taylor: I know that. But did you have to make it so awkward? Did you see his face?
Tad: Yes. Of course, I did. But I had to do it to get rid of him. I'm sorry. Look, we have a responsibility. It's not my fault that you guys are in the middle of the bends. "The bends." You know, the period between a break-up and deciding you can be friends again? It usually lasts between three and six months.
Taylor: Thank you. I know what "the bends" is.
Tad: Well, then you should be grateful that a ring wasn't involved because it would be worse. Look, I'm not making light of you or anybody else. I'm in the same trench you are, soldier. Hell, I live with my ex-wife.
Taylor: Is there such a thing as a normal relationship?
Tad: You're asking me? Ha ha! Are you kidding? I got so frustrated asking myself that question once upon a time, I gave up women altogether. Didn't last very long.
Taylor: But clearly you wasted no time asking me out.
Tad: Why should I? I'm not getting any younger. And when it comes to romance, the best you can do is trust your heart and hope it doesn't drag you by the throat off in the wrong direction.
Taylor: Now, that's deep.
Tad: Oh, touché.
Taylor: Tad, I am not in the middle of a bends phase. Brot is not a phase. He's a person. And we just hurt him. And you are standing here being glib about my friend.
Tad: Well, clearly he's more than a friend, which is why I am truly sorry.
Taylor: What if -- what if you think -- you've already met that perfect person, and you accidentally let them get away? Do you think... do you think that's it? Do you think that's, uh, just game over? Or do you think maybe you get a second chance with another person?
Tad: Well, God, I hope so. That's the thing about love, Taylor. There's no rules. I can't break it down for you. I'm making this up as I go along, and so are you. And guess what. Eventually, both of us are gonna run into the furniture. Hell, even if you did play it safe and you ran into a person, you became friends, you decided you should get married, because it seems like the thing to do, because you want to raise children, you want to build a home. Guess what. Eventually, it would happen to you. Bing. Along would come this moment, and you realize that you suddenly saw them in a completely different light, that they'd walked off with your heart and there was nothing you could do about it.
Jack: Well, I'm so glad I ran into the two of you, because I've got some news.
Liza: If you want Kendall's case back, it's too late.
Jack: No, thank you. I'm representing Annie Lavery now.
Zach: You are?
Jack: Yeah.
Zach: Big mistake.
Jack: I don't think so. I got a few questions for you, though.
Liza: Well, he's not talking.
Jack: Why not? I mean, certainly you don't have anything to hide, do you, Zach?
Liza: Annie was just charged with the attempted murder of Adam. Mr. and Mrs. Slater have nothing to do with that. That's a completely separate case.
Jack: I see. And that's why you spent all that time earlier in the judge's chambers trying to get him to drop the charges against Kendall, arguing that whoever took a shot at Adam must have been the one that killed Stuart, huh?
Liza: Yeah, ok, we're leaving.
Jack: I know you framed Annie, and you're not gonna get away with it. I'm gonna prove it.
Liza: Save it for the courtroom.
Erica: What was Adam saying to you?
Ryan: Well, pretty much what none of us want to hear -- the truth. What if we are playing God with Annie's life?
Erica: Ryan, we are getting justice. Annie is a killer.
Kendall: Excuse me. Hi. I need to speak to Jesse.
Natalia: Yeah, he's not here.
Kendall: Well, can you call him?
Natalia: And tell him what?
Kendall: That Kendall Slater is here, and I have something to tell him, and it can't wait.
Natalia: All right.
Kendall: Hello, Annie.
Tad: You want to know something? Once upon a time I thought I had the keys to the kingdom and all the answers. Happiness was two chicks, a cold beer, and surround sound. And as meaningless experiences go, it isn't half-bad. But in the long run, you realize what's really important in life is you, my little kumquat. Hey, hey. You ok? Taylor, what is it? What's wrong?
Taylor: I'm not very good at this.
Tad: Well, what's the -- fine. Whatever it is, just say it.
Taylor: Ahem. When we were talking before and you -- you said what you said about the moment you see a person in a different light.
Tad: Oh, yeah.
Taylor: I think... I think that moment is now.
[Trevor sneezes as Tad and Taylor kiss]
[Tad and Taylor chuckle]
Tad: Bless you.
Ryan: I know how hard this is for you, Erica. I mean, I know that you don't want Kendall to go to prison.
Erica: Well, do you? Do you want Kendall to be separated from her children, one of whom is your own son -- Spike?
Ryan: Of course, I don't. I don't, I don't, but Annie is a mother, too, you know? No matter what she's done, Emma is still her child.
Erica: A child who Annie has repeatedly traumatized with her selfishness, with her insanity.
Ryan: You're absolutely right, 100% right. You're right, and she should pay for that. But does that mean that she goes away for a crime that we don't know that she committed. I mean, can we do that? Can we do that and then live the rest of our lives?
Erica: Absolutely. We can and we must.
Annie: Did you come to gloat?
Kendall: No.
Annie: What, then? You know, to see for yourself, make sure Zach did the job right? You know damn well I didn't fire that shot at Adam, and you know damn well I didn't shoot his brother either. How's your conscience, Kendall? Jackson has signed on to be my lawyer. He hates you as much as I do. He's gonna make sure you don't get away with killing Stuart the way you got away with killing Greenlee.
Kendall: Greenlee's death was an accident. Jackson knows that.
Annie: Hmm, but I think he's getting sick of seeing you and Zach skate. I think he'd get some real satisfaction putting you both behind bars. Mr. Slater in one cell, Mrs. Slater in another. Wait, what would happen to Spike and Ian, then? It's a scary thought, isn't it? Never seeing your children again. Welcome to my world. I hope you enjoy this time with your family. It's about to run out.
Jesse: What are you doing here?
Kendall: I have something to tell you.
Jesse: Ok.
Annie: Don't get shy now, Kendall. She has a lot to tell you.
Jack: So did you come up with framing Annie all by yourself, or was this something you and Kendall worked out together?
Liza: Back off, Jack.
Jack: It was Emma, wasn't it? Her being an eyewitness -- that really messed things up for you. You knew that Kendall couldn't get around that, so you had to go to the extreme.
Liza: Ok, that is enough.
Jack: Where does this rank in the Slater pantheon? I mean, higher than the blackout that you made so that Greenlee could never, ever have Ryan's child? But not quite as high as you covering up the fact that Kendall was the one that ran her off the road and killed her. I know you're particularly proud of that one, you son of a -- you shot at Adam through that window. You were on the Chandler terrace.
Aidan: You're wrong. Zach wasn't there. He was with me.
