[Doorbell rings]

Liza: Hey. Listen, I need your help.

Tad: And you couldn't call?

Liza: Willis is out for Kendall's blood. And you've gone on record with those recovered memories of yours. I need to know more.

Tad: Uh, now?

Liza: Listen, you saw Emma on the foyer stairs. If I'm gonna win this case -- come on, Tad, I need to know more. I need to know everything that you remember.

[Trevor cries]

Liza: Is that a -- is that a baby in there?

Tad: Maybe. Clearly, you've forgotten all about my youngest, Liza?

Liza: No, no, no, I haven't. Jenny, right? Yeah. No, I just saw her with Opal. She was out there when I was driving over here.

Tad: Well, see? There you go. I'm clearly gonna have to have a word with Mama about, you know, when she just decides to up and take off like that.

[Trevor cries]

Liza: So what -- so what was that?

Tad: Ow. Oh --

Liza: Are you ok? Are you all right?

Tad: Yeah. No, no, no, I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm just -- oh, man, am I glad you're here. Liza, it's all coming back to me.

Liza: It is?

Tad: Yeah. Everything. About the night that Stuart was murdered?

Liza: Yeah?

Tad: I think I know what happened. I mean, it is so clear inside my head.

Liza: Great. Great. Come on, let's go sit down.

Tad: No, no, no, no! No, I can't -- no, I can't sit down. No, it's much too traumatic. Because I sit there, you know, and the thoughts just keep coming and coming and building up and they tumble over one another. Eventually, what you get is this one big mental bowl of mush. But it's ok when I stand up. As a matter of fact, you know, if I'm up and moving, everything just seems to flow, you know? As a matter of fact, I got it. I got it: We should take a walk.

Liza: Come on.

[Trevor cries]

Liza: It's gonna rain out there. Wait. You tell me you don't hear a baby?

Tad: The only thing I hear, Liza, is my soul crying out for justice. For justice, Liza. For the truth about what happened the night that Stuart was murdered.

Zach: Is Kendall here?

Adam: No. But if she shows up, I'll string up your killer wife personally.

Zach: The only person that's gonna get strung up is Annie.

Adam: No. I want you out of my house. Get out now. Get out.

Annie: The police are on their way.

Adam: I want you upstairs before this maniac puts a bull's-eye on your forehead.

Annie: I'm not afraid of him. I'm not afraid of anything.

[Knock on door]

Jesse: Hey, what's going on?

A.D.A. Willis: I got a subpoena to interview Emma Lavery. But her father won't answer the door or his phone.

Jesse: Why do you want to talk to Emma?

A.D.A. Willis: She saw Kendall Slater shoot Stuart Chandler. And I think Ryan took his daughter and ran.

Kendall: Ah! Guys, guys, let me in, please. It's Kendall.

Ryan: Kendall?

Erica: Are you alone?

Kendall: Yeah. Emma, you have to tell the truth, ok, about what you really saw. I didn't shoot Stuart. Your mother did. Come on. Be a good girl, ok? Tell the truth.

Ryan: Hey, Kendall --

Kendall: Come on, Emma. Come on, please? Come on.

Ryan: That's enough, ok? That's enough.

Tad: Three. Three people, right? And they all have guns. All of them, right? Kendall on the terrace. Slater in the parlor. Hayward in the tunnels.

Liza: Tad, I just need a cup of coffee, ok?

Tad: Liza! Just le me, ok? Listen, Stuart -- Stuart is right here, ok? He's dead center in the room -- excuse the choice of words, ok? He's -- he's trapped in the kill zone. He's trapped by a triangulation of firepower.

Liza: What? No. There was only one gunshot, and it came from the terrace.

Tad: A lone gunman -- yeah, sure. That's what they want you to think. You said yourself Willis was out to get Kendall's blood. What if -- ok, what if he's inside the room?

Liza: What?

Tad: I mean, what happens if it was an inside job and -- and there was a cover-up? You know, I could really, really demonstrate this a lot clearer outside.

Liza: Oh, Tad, honey, you -- you need some professional help.

Tad: No, no, no, no! Just -- ok, what if -- what if the bullet that killed Stuart didn't, in fact, come from the terrace? What if the kill shot came inside from this room -- I mean, from the room? From the living room? More sort of over here-ish this way?

Liza: No. That is impossible. There was only one gunshot, and it came from that direction.

Tad: Ah!

Jesse: An eyewitness to Stuart Chandler's murder? How long have you been sitting on this?

A.D.A. Willis: I just found out.

Jesse: From whom?

A.D.A. Willis: Annie Lavery.

Jesse: Annie Lavery? Ok. Here's the thing about Annie Lavery. The woman is built on a stack of lies and garbage, kind of kills anybody that gets in her way. So whatever she tells you has a very slim chance of being the truth.

A.D.A. Willis: Duly noted. But I'd still like to interview Emma.

Jesse: She's not here.

A.D.A. Willis: If her father sneaked her out of Pine Valley, that proves that Emma has something to say.

Ryan: Stay away from my daughter, Kendall. What were you thinking?

Kendall: Emma, sweetie, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you.

Ryan: Look at her. She's terrified, Kendall.

Kendall: I understand. I understand, Ryan, but I'm terrified, too. I am facing a life sentence because of her lies.

Emma: I'm not lying! I saw you shoot Stuart!

Kendall: Ok, Emma. Emma, wait!

Ryan: Don't even think about --

Kendall: No, Ryan, I need to talk to her!

Erica: No. What you need to do, honey, is you need to calm down.

Kendall: Mom, how calm would you be if a 7-year-old was sending you to death row?

Erica: Ok. I understand that, but we're trying to help you. And -- and you frightened her. And acting like that, you're just making things worse.

Kendall: Ryan, I know you love your daughter, but she is lying, and we both know why.

Zach: So, Annie, being a mother means nothing to you, huh?

Annie: Emma's my life.

Zach: Emma's your puppet.

Annie: She saw Kendall kill Stuart. I'm sorry you're not happy about that --

Zach: You filled her head with lies.

Annie: My daughter's telling the truth.

Zach: Your daughter's telling what you want her to tell so you can save your ass.

Adam: Back off, Slater.

Zach: My wife is not gonna go to prison for your crime.

Annie: You can accuse me all you want, but you can't put a stop to this. Emma saw what she saw, and she's gonna tell the jury.

Zach: Oh, don't count on it.

[Doorbell rings]

Annie: Must be the police. You can keep a cell warm for your wife.

Jesse: What is it this time?

Adam: Slater -- I want him arrested for trespassing and harassment.

Jesse: I thought I told you to stay away from this place.

Zach: Jesse, I'm sorry. I had to deliver a message.

Jesse: Cuff him.

Zach: I'll go quietly.

Jesse: Good. You'll spend a nice, quiet night in a cell.

Annie: It's awful, isn't it, to have no control, no idea what's gonna happen next? Well, let me give you a clue. I am going to live a long, happy life with my daughter, and Kendall's gonna get exactly what she deserves.

Officer: Should I book him, Chief?

Jesse: I got this.

Zach: Why do you want to do this? Your office?

Jesse: Come on, Zach, I'm not gonna arrest you. But it looks like we have a new star witness. Emma Lavery -- where is she?

Zach: No idea.

Jesse: Come on, I just ran into Willis knock, knock, knocking on Ryan's door. He knows they took off. Hiding Emma is not gonna help Kendall.

Zach: And putting her on the stand will?

Jesse: Willis is not the bully that North was, ok? He wants to get at the truth. He's not gonna put words in this girl's mouth.

Zach: Ryan wants to get to the truth, too. So wherever Emma is, that's where he is. Let Ryan do this. Let him protect his daughter the same way you protected Randi. Just making a point. Father, father-in-law -- it makes no difference. There's no one better to protect a child.

Erica: Emma? I want you to know something. I want you to know that you haven't done anything wrong. Just that some people -- thank you. Some people who heard the things that you had to say -- you know, about what you saw at Adam Chandler's house? Some people just want to use those things to hurt my daughter Kendall. And if that happened, that would be so sad. Because Kendall is my little girl. And you don't want to hurt her either, right?

Emma: I told the truth.

Erica: Telling the truth is very important. You know what else is important? That you know that everyone here loves you, especially your daddy.

Emma: I miss my mommy.

Erica: I know. I know you do. But you are so lucky because you have such a wonderful daddy. He just loves you so much. And not every little girl is as lucky as you are to have a daddy like that who will protect you and keep you safe always. So you should listen to your daddy. You listen to everything he has to say.

Kendall: This is wrong, Ryan. I am innocent. I did not kill Stuart.

Ryan: I know.

Kendall: Well, obviously, you don't because if you believed me, then you would do something.

Ryan: I do believe you, Kendall, but I also happen to know my daughter very well. I see the look in her eyes, and I see the truth.

Kendall: So you believe us both? How is that possible?

Ryan: Whatever happened at the Chandlers' that night, my daughter believes that she saw you shoot Stuart. She believes that.

Kendall: That's because that's what -- Annie told her what happened. Her crazy mother put it in her head!

Ryan: Probably right, yes.

Kendall: Ok, well, then do something about it.

Ryan: My daughter takes priority with me, ok? And right now she needs comfort, Kendall. She doesn't need a bunch of people pressuring her to change her story right now.

Kendall: Well, if she doesn't, I will lose everything: My family, my life.

Ryan: If I push Emma, something could snap in her mind, you know, or in her psyche, and she could end up exactly like her mom.

Annie: Thank you, Adam.

Adam: Slater won't be bothering you anymore.

Annie: Not just for that. For everything: Your generosity, your understanding.

Adam: Yeah, I want to understand more about you.

Annie: Like what?

Adam: I want to know what makes Annie Lavery tick.

Annie: I just want to be happy, like everybody else.

Adam: But you're not like everybody else. You're not like any woman I've ever known. I want to know what goes on inside that pretty head of yours.

Annie: You think I'm hiding something?

Adam: Oh, no, no, no. I'm just curious. Occasionally, you just go quiet. And I wonder, "What is she thinking? What is she feeling?"

Annie: I feel lots of things.

Adam: Like what? You can tell me anything.

Annie: Everything's been so great between us. Where is this coming from?

Adam: From, uh, from here.

Annie: My journal. My file from Oak Haven.

Adam: Yes. It's a fascinating read.

Liza: Please, let me just get some coffee.

Tad: Here, here, here, here. Here.

Liza: Ok, what are you doing?

Tad: Proving you wrong, ok? The shot came from around here.

Liza: Not according to every police report.

Tad: Liza Colby, I am so disappointed in you. You got to think critically, ok? You got to question authority. It's essential to our freedom, to our very, very way of life, you know? We owe it to ourselves to examine all of the facts in the case, to look at it from every angle.

Liza: Yeah, I have studied all the facts in the case, and the fact is that the shot came from -- what are you doing?

Tad: I don't know. It's just all this, like, legal talk, you just -- it's --

Liza: No! Stop, Tad. Enough. I don't know what's going on here. It's enough.

Tad: Ok. All right. Fine, fine, fine. You know, maybe I can't tell you exactly what happened the night Stuart was murdered. You know, all I can tell you is that he was in the dark, and he was alone when somebody put a bullet in his back! That's how my friend died.

Annie: Where did you get that?

Adam: From the A.D.A. Mr. Willis felt it obligatory.

Annie: To share the details of my past psychosis, my personal thoughts? Did you read my entire journal?

Adam: Well, it seemed prudent.

Annie: You tested me once before. You pretended that you remembered seeing me shoot Stuart, which was ridiculous, and I proved myself, yet you still don't trust me. This whole time that I've been living here, have I proven myself to be a good person?

Adam: Absolutely.

Annie: So then why am I still under suspicion? Everybody else can act like a lunatic and they get a free pass. Why? I know why. Because they don't have files from mental institutions. You know, I am the first person to admit that I was very sick. I had a twisted brother who hunted me from childhood, who was never gonna stop, and if I did not kill Richie, he would've killed me first.

Adam: I know how dangerous he was.

Annie: And Richie's not the one that kept me over the edge -- that was Ryan. One day I'm married and in love, and the next day he erases me from his life, dumps me in some hellhole, and pretends that I don't exist. I tried so hard to get better and I -- and I did. I got better, yet Ryan wouldn't let me see my daughter. Without Emma, I have nothing. I had no reason to live.

Adam: But you decided to run off with her, start a new life.

Annie: I thought Emma was my only hope. She seemed the only person that I could love, the only person that I could trust. But now I realize that that's not true. That night, that horrible night that Stuart was killed, I came here to find my daughter, but I found you. We found each other. You keep saying that I saved your life, but what you don't realize is you saved mine.

Jesse: I told you Slater doesn't know where Emma is.

A.D.A. Willis: Well, I'd like to make that determination for myself.

Jesse: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Come on, just let him sweat it out in there for a while, all right? I'll get back with him. We're gonna find Emma. I just bought us some time.

Zach: "Us"?

Jesse: Yeah. I'm with you on this, Zach. I believe that Annie is using her daughter to pin this on Kendall.

Zach: I appreciate you going out on a limb.

Jesse: I'm doing this for Emma, too.

Zach: Just like you're doing it for Randi's child.

Liza: Hi.

A.D.A. Willis: Was this your idea?

Liza: I'm sorry? Excuse me?

A.D.A. Willis: Your client is harboring an eyewitness.

Liza: What are you talking about?

A.D.A. Willis: Where is Emma Lavery?

Liza: She's missing? Did -- did Annie kidnap her again?

A.D.A. Willis: Now, Chief Hubbard has assured me that he'll find her, and I can wait. And as soon as she resurfaces, she'll give me everything I need to convict Kendall Slater. Now, are you sure there's nothing you want to share?

Liza: Yes, I'm sure.

A.D.A. Willis: Fine. But the longer you play keep-away, the worse it'll be when the child's found.

Taylor: Come on.

Amanda: When Liza heard the baby cry out, I thought I was gonna have a heart attack.

Jake: Well, thank God my brother can tap-dance like the best of them, huh? Are you all right?

Taylor: I just -- you know, you guys are leaving. I thought I'd have more time to prepare.

Jake: Well, you changed a diaper once, right? It's the same act over and over. A piece of cake, except it comes out the other end.

Amanda: Is leaving Trevor here a good idea?

Jake: Well, David would never think to check here. I think it's a great idea. You know what? If it's not something you're comfortable with, we can take him back to the country. Margaret, the super nanny, is amazing. It's --

Amanda: No, no. I need to know that my son is close.

Taylor: So what if I don't have experience, right? I can adapt to situations -- it's called Army training. May I?

Amanda: Here we go.

Taylor: Hi. Hi, little one. Aren't you a precious little boy? See, huh? Who's my best friend now, huh?

Amanda: Oh -- this place is so not baby-proof.

Jake: Well, I'll -- you know, I'll come back and do all that, ok?

Amanda: What about all of Trevor's needs? I mean, formula, diapers, a place to sleep?

Taylor: I'll clean out a drawer. I'm kidding. Amanda, I will take great care of your beautiful little boy. You have my word.

[Doorbell rings]

Amanda: Oh, my God. David.

Tad: Supplies!

Jake: Nice. Good one.

Erica: You know, your daddy talks about you all the time: How proud he is of you, how much he loves you, how much he loves spending time with you. I mean, look at all these wonderful books he brought you. Would you like to read a story? Ok. Let me see what he brought you. You call out if I say a title you like, ok? "Sparrow Girl." Or we could read "Clementine's Letter." "Yoko's Paper Cranes." "Yoko." Ah. "Pidgin Wants a Puppy." That looks good.

[Emma steals the phone out of Erica's purse]

Ryan: So far, Annie has done a number on Emma, but -- but, you know, Emma seems ok. She does, and my plan is to keep it that way.

Kendall: Plan how? You can't control how this will affect Emma in the long run. Well, I can try. I'm her dad, and that's my job.

Kendall: Yeah, Ryan, I understand that. But you are also Spike's father. And if Annie gets away with this, he will grow up without his mom.

Ryan: I'm not gonna let that happen, Kendall. I'm not gonna let that happen. Ok? I'm also not gonna let you scar my little girl. I'm not. She's not saying these things to hurt you. She's saying them, because she honestly believes that they're true.

Kendall: What do you think?

Ryan: I think that Annie shot Stuart. That's what I think. And I think that that memory is buried somewhere in Emma's head. Ok? I know that I can get it out, but I'm gonna do it on my terms. I'm not gonna put my daughter at risk.

Kendall: I know, but, Ryan, you might only have one chance. Maybe we should get some help.

Ryan: We don't need help with her, ok? Nobody knows my daughter better than I do.

Kendall: Except Annie.

Ryan: Ok. It's time for you to go.

Kendall: No, Ryan -- no, I'm not leaving until Emma tells the truth.

Erica: Kendall? Go home. Take care of your boys. Let Ryan take care of his daughter. You can trust Ryan. I do.

Taylor: All this stuff? You sure there's only one baby?

Tad: "All this stuff"? This isn't the half of it. The rest of Jenny's old stuff is in the car.

Taylor: There's more? Are you kidding?

Tad: Taylor, babies are nothing if not incredibly high maintenance.

Amanda: Oh, they are not. They just have a lot of needs. Yes.

Tad: Ok. However you want to say it. The solution is all about the schedule. You got to get the kid into a routine.

Taylor: Oh, planning? No, that's good. I can do that. I did that in the Army.

Tad: It's a piece of cake. Just keep saying to yourself, "Feed, change, nap. Feed, change, nap."

Jake: Yeah, you should throw a bath in there every now and then. That would about do it.

Amanda: Hello? That would not "do it." They need hugs and kisses and lullabies.

Jake: Oh, we'll make sure that he gets plenty of those.

Tad: Oh, yeah. I'm an expert in the lullaby department. I used to -- still sing to Jake every night.

Taylor: Great. So singing? What else?

Jake: Clothing. You want to make sure he's not too hot and not too cold, you know? You want to make sure he doesn't wear this thing.

Tad: What's wrong with that? Mama picked it out for Jenny.

Jake: Exactly. That's what the problem is: She picked it out for Jenny.

Tad: Oh, please. It's not like we go shopping for the kid. God forbid, there's a pinch. The kid can't wear pink?

Jake: Am I wearing anything now? I'm just saying.

Taylor: Hey, you know, I wore all my brothers' hand-me-downs, and there's nothing wrong with me. A little.

Amanda: I don't care what he wears. I am just so happy to have him back. Yes, I am. Oh, there you are. There you go. I can't believe he's really here. Hey. Promise me you'll take care of our son.

Ryan: No, I am not -- I am not angry at you. I love you. I love you so much. Ok? It's just that that's why we brought you here. Because Kendall's our friend, and we don't want anything bad to happen to her.

Emma: She shot Stuart -- that's bad.

Ryan: Yeah. Well, um, it's -- it's complicated.

Emma: Is Kendall going to shoot me?

Ryan: No, honey. No, no. Absolutely not. Kendall would never hurt you. She wouldn't. I'm so sorry that she scared you like that, ok? I really am. It's just that this is really, really important. That's why -- that's why we need you to really, really think about what you saw. You know, make sure you didn't get mixed up or something. And if you did, that's ok. It's no problem. Nobody's gonna get upset. Just take your time. Tell me what you remember, ok?

Emma: Why don't you believe me, Daddy?

Zach: Hi.

Kendall: Hi.

Zach: Where have you been?

Kendall: I went to go see Emma.

Zach: Kendall --

Kendall: No, Zach, I had to. I had to see if I could get her to admit that she saw Annie kill Stuart.

Zach: How'd it go?

Kendall: Didn't go so well.

Zach: There's a shocker. You scared the little kid. What are you doing? What about last time when you went after Annie, tried to get a confession out of her? It blew up in your face. Now you're going after her daughter.

Kendall: No, Zach, her daughter is going after me.

Zach: She's a child, Kendall.

Kendall: She's Annie's child. Emma is being brainwashed by an unhinged freak who wants me to take the fall for her. So if you think I'm just gonna let you handle everything and sit back and be a good little wife, it's not gonna happen.

Zach: No one's telling you not to fight anymore. You got to be smart about it.

Kendall: I'm sorry. I don't have time to sit and ponder my strategy. Time is running out. Why doesn't anyone get that?

Zach: Well, Erica gets it. So she and Ryan took Emma away so no one will talk to her.

Kendall: No, that's not enough. We need to get Emma to tell the truth.

Zach: Can't you just be patient, Kendall?

Kendall: Zach, you weren't there. You were not at that safe house. You didn't see how they were babying Emma. No one was questioning her. They were all lounging around like it was a summer vacation. I mean, Ryan, I understand. But my own mother? She's more concerned about not pushing Emma than getting her own daughter acquitted. That little girl is lying, and if no one else will prove it, then I will.

Zach: You're not going anywhere.

Kendall: Zach, I have to do this.

Zach: What if Willis has a tail on you? You're gonna lead them right to Emma. Maybe you already have.

Kendall: Stop talking to me like I'm stupid, please.

Zach: I'm not! We can't make any more mistakes.

Kendall: The only mistake would be me sitting here waiting for a life sentence for a murder I didn't commit.

Taylor: Trevor will love it here. It's a very quiet place. People really stick to themselves.

Amanda: Until they see you with a baby. Then they're gonna want to know your whole life story.

Taylor: But if they see me with a baby, I will tell them that he's my nephew -- or my niece.

Jake: Just don't put him in the pink thing. That's all I'm saying.

Tad: Ixnay on the inkpay, ok? It's fine. And she's on to something. I mean, David is looking for a little boy, right? So what if instead of you taking care of a Trevor, you take care of a Tracy?

Taylor: Yup!

Amanda: You want to turn my son into a girl?

Tad: Not permanently, no.

Amanda: Forget it. He's had enough confusion as it is.

Jake: No, wait, honey. Actually, that's not a bad idea. I mean, Tad doesn't have them often, but, no, David would never catch on. It's -- it's good.

Amanda: Uh, fine. As long as he's safe.

Taylor: I will guard him with my life.

Amanda: Oh, ok. Well, what if you can't get him to stop crying or -- or he won't eat? What if you need help?

Tad: Then I'll be here. I'll tell you what. What if I stick around, ok? I'll spend the night so I can show Taylor the ropes. I mean, if it's ok with you?

Liza: So I heard you got arrested.

Zach: Nope. No. I just went over to Adam's house to talk to Annie, but apparently I wasn't invited. Good thing is that Jesse's on our side. He's gonna buy us some time with Annie.

Liza: Oh, yeah. That's good. We got the chief of police on our side. But unless we get Emma to change her story --

Kendall: Well, good luck with that. I tried talking to her, but Ryan stopped me.

Zach: Ryan wants the truth just like everybody else.

Kendall: Ryan is way too close to this. He won't push her.

Zach: Maybe she doesn't need to be pushed. Maybe she needs to be brought along gently.

Liza: Well, that might be true in some cases, but not this one. I'm with Kendall.

Annie: What happened with Zach?

Jesse: He won't be bothering you anymore.

Adam: Ah. Good. One Slater in jail, one on her way. This calls for a drink.

Annie: I thought you and Zach were friends.

Jesse: I have a lot of friends. But friends or no friends, they break the law, they pay the price.

Annie: You let him go, didn't you? Where's Zach right now? With Kendall and Ryan grilling my daughter?

Jesse: I have half my force out looking for your daughter.

[Phone rings]

Adam: Ah. Can I take this? Will you be all right?

Annie: Yeah. Yeah.

Adam: Ok. Yeah, Barry?

Annie: This whole town is against me, including you. And you know what? I have been under house arrest for weeks obeying the rules, behaving myself, and yet you still want to lock me up. Jesse, what about all them? Erica Kane locks me in this room, tries to goad me into a murder confession. Aidan bugs the house. Zach threatens me. They all might get a slap in the wrist, but not Kendall. Not precious Kendall. She's untouchable. Even when an innocent child is pointing the finger at her, no one believes it. Everything thinks her crazy mother has brainwashed her.

Jesse: I don't. I believe your daughter's telling the truth.

Annie: You're a liar.

Tad: You see, the secret of the pinball is all in the wrist. It's a double on the left and a single on the right. And look at the wrist action in this -- oh, oh, oh, look at this. Look at the fist. He's a natural. Oh, oh, yes.

Taylor: Amazing. I've never seen you like this.

Tad: Oh, no, it's nothing. He and I have the same maturity level, so we bonded immediately.

Taylor: I'm serious. You're so confident. And you just seem, you know, relaxed and just happy.

Tad: How can you not be? How can you look at a face like that and not be happy? I'll tell you something. Babies are -- they're all innocence and 100% unconditional love.

Taylor: Yes.

Tad: Lullaby go to sleep

Taylor: Oh, yeah.

Tad: Go to sleep little baby

Taylor: By the way, about the singing thing, I kind of thought you were kidding.

Tad: Oh, no, no, no. Tracy wants to hear you sing.

Taylor: Oh, no, no, no, she doesn't. I shatter glass.

Tad: No, listen, honey. When you take care of a baby, you're singing. It's part of the deal. You know, it's part of the dinner. Right? Lullaby, rest your eyes

Tad and Taylor: Go to sleep

Taylor: My baby -- too much?

Tad: No, no, no. He's just wondering if we should tape up the windows. Don't wake the baby.

Amanda: Oh, I leave Trevor and I feel like my heart is crushed. What am I gonna do when he goes off to college?

Jake: Oh, please. Can we not worry about college yet? Don't you think it's a little soon?

Amanda: He's just across town, and I can't stop thinking about him. How long do we have to keep this up?

Jake: Well, I'm not sure. But whatever it is, we can handle it, ok? Build strength and courage like we have been. Any time you're worried about it, just remember I'm gonna give you a hand. I'll give you two hands. Now you got four hands. Well, that's too many hands for any one person to have. Don't you think?

Amanda: I think that you knew way before I did how much I loved him and how I'd really want to spend my life with him. And you made that possible. You brought us all together again, and I'm never gonna be able to thank you enough for that.

Jake: Hmm.

Amanda: I love you.

Erica: Ryan, you're doing exactly the right thing protecting Emma.

Ryan: Would you still think so if Kendall went to prison?

Erica: Well, that's not gonna happen because we're not gonna let it. I know. Believe me, I know. It's so hard to be patient. I want this nightmare to be over for Kendall and for all of us.

Ryan: So do I, Erica. So do I. I really do. But --

Erica: But you're not gonna traumatize your little girl, and I understand that. Emma needs you to be her shield against the world. You be that for her, Ryan. Be that for her as long as she needs you to be.

Ryan: And what if it's too late? I mean, the damage has already been done, right? Who knows what being in the middle of all of this has already done to Emma?

Jesse: You're right about them. They've been getting away with way too much for way too long.

Annie: Who?

Jesse: The rich. The connected. I try to do my job, and they constantly throw around their influence, their money. They get away with anything, even murder. I'm sick of it.

Annie: Well, then you must hate what Adam's doing for me. That must make you ill.

Jesse: Actually, I respect it. I mean, I know what it is to be falsely accused of a crime, for people with power to brand you with something you're not. Hell of a position to be in. Hell of a position to get out of without help. I want to help you, Annie. I'm on your side. You have been playing by the rules. It goes a long way with me. These idiot big shots -- they don't think the rules apply to them.

[Phone rings]

Jesse: You gonna get that?

Zach: So you want to strong-arm a little girl?

Liza: No, no. But, come on. There's a sense of urgency here we can't ignore.

Kendall: Thank you.

Zach: Yeah.

Liza: I'm not saying we take her to Guantanamo. I'm just saying just let me talk to her. All right? She won't be scared.

Zach: She is already scared. She's scared of losing her mother. And no kid should feel that. She's part of our family, Kendall.

Kendall: Zach, listen to me. I do care about Emma, and I want to spare her any more trauma. But one sentence out of her mouth could end this.

Liza: What if we just beat Annie at her own game?

Kendall: I don't understand.

Liza: Well, she put fake memories into Emma's head. We can do the same.

Zach: Really?

Liza: Yes. We just talk to Emma, all right? We gently suggest things that she might've seen that night, just enough to bring up reasonable doubt.

Zach: Yeah, that's a great idea. The truth is on our side.

Liza: Not according to Emma. Zach, come on. It's not a perfect world here, and Kendall's life is on the line.
