Episode #10160

Provided by Suzanne

Marissa: Hey, J.R. I hope you don't mind me just stopping by like this. I -- ever since that kiss, I just wanted to say I'm sorry. You tried to explain, and I just ran out on you. Oh, my God -- as if this wasn't mortifying enough.

Scott: Not the Chandler you were expecting, was it?

Randi: Is he really dead?

Jesse: Yeah, he really is.

Randi: Oh, my God. This is happening. I didn't mean to --

Jesse: I know, I know. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Calm down, calm down. Listen to me. We are going to work through this. We're going to figure something out, ok? All right?

Randi: What are you doing?

Jesse: I'm calling the D.C. Police.

Randi: No, no, no, you can't do that.

Madison: Champagne, please.

Zach: Hey. You're in a better mood.

Madison: I took your advice. I showed my husband that I do have power. That little speech you gave before about how I'm better than this, better than him?

Zach: You left Henry?

Madison: Thank you for helping me see the light.

Zach: I don't -- you're welcome. But if you want to thank me, then help me with Kendall when we actually have a shot at getting her off.

Madison: Oh, you have more than a shot. Another champagne, please, for the gentleman.

Zach: More -- what does that mean?

Madison: Just this feeling that I have. You and your wife can stop worrying, Zach. Everything's going to be just fine.

Annie: Adam, I think you should lie down.

Adam: No, not a chance. Now that I finally know the truth.

Ryan: Shh.

Annie: I don't understand. You said you didn't remember because of the drugs.

Adam: I didn't, but I do now. It's all come back to me. The night Stuart was shot. I know what happened.

J.R.: What, Dad? What did you see?

Adam: The gun and Annie. You killed my brother.

Scott: I'm sorry. I should have turned around before you --

Marissa: Before I made a complete fool of myself?

Scott: Do you want to talk about it?

Marissa: God, no.

Scott: No, because you already threw it out there. I just -- ok, how's this? I'll go first. So... you kissed J.R.

Marissa: Yes.

Scott: And I take it it didn't go very well.

Marissa: How'd you guess?

Scott: So what happened? Too much garlic? You -- ok, not funny. Sorry. Last I heard, you two were just friends taking it slow.

Marissa: Yeah. I think that's where we messed up. We were at the yacht club, and it was so beautiful out. I mean, one moment we were talking, and the next --

Scott: I got it. I... so I still don't see the problem.

Marissa: Oh, the problem is J.R. admitted that when he kissed me he was thinking about babe, and I got upset and ran off.

Scott: Well, you're right. This is far more complicated than garlic breath.

[Marissa laughs]

Marissa: God, I wish it was this easy to talk to J.R.

Scott: Yeah, that's me, Mr. Easygoing nice guy.

Marissa: No, don't say that like it's a bad thing.

Scott: No, it's not a bad thing, but let's be honest, it doesn't exactly make me a chick magnet, either. Girls tend to go for the mystery, you know, the dark, dangerous, unpredictable guy. I'm a planner.

Marissa: I don't buy it. I definitely see some mystery behind those plans. I'll see you soon.

Scott: You got any quarters?

Marissa: What?

Scott: Quarters, or those little dollar coins, maybe?

Marissa: Yeah, probably. Why?

Scott: Come with me and find out. All plans are off.

J.R.: What are you saying, Dad? You saying that you saw Annie shoot uncle Stuart?

Adam: It was all a blur until now. But, yes, now it's come clear. I saw you on the terrace. You raised the gun. And you shot my brother. Come on, confess. I'm going to finally put an end to this.

J.R.: Well, you got nothing to say?

Annie: I'm just wondering what would happen if I confessed right now.

J.R.: You would go to prison.

Annie: Would you protect me, Adam?

J.R.: You're kidding me, right?

Annie: Would it even matter that I saved your life?

J.R.: After what you did to uncle Stuart, I don't think so.

Annie: Why are you doing this to me?

J.R.: To you? Is she on crack?

Annie: This doesn't seem a little strange to you? Adam defends me till he's blue in the face, and then he has some time to collect himself and suddenly I go from savior to murderer in a couple of minutes?

J.R.: So?

Annie: So it doesn't make sense. Somebody got to you. Who was it? Kendall? Was it Erica?

Adam: I have no idea what you're talking about.

Annie: You don't remember a thing, do you?

J.R.: Oh, ok, so now you're psychic.

Annie: Adam could not have seen me kill Stuart.

J.R.: Why not?

Annie: Because I didn't do it.

Randi: Jesse, look at this place. There is nothing broken. My clothes are -- are totally fine. There's no sign of a struggle.

Jesse: It doesn't mean there wasn't one.

Randi: No one's going to believe me.

Jesse: I believe you. I do.

Randi: Of course you believe me, you're my father-in-law. Jesse, I can't go to jail. I -- I can't go to jail, not now.

Jesse: Listen, I understand, I understand.

Randi: No, you don't.

Jesse: You're afraid, you're scared.

Randi: I'm pregnant.

Jesse: What?

Randi: I'm pregnant.

Jesse: Does Frankie know?

Randi: I just found out, and then all of this happened. Jesse, you have to help me.

Jesse: Ok, ok. Ok. Ok. Just -- whoo, give me -- just give me a second here, all right?

Randi: Ok.

Jesse: Did you talk to anybody at reception when you -- when you got here?

[Door closing]

Randi: No, I -- I knew where Henry's room was.

Jesse: Did anyone see you?

Randi: I don't think so.

Jesse: Randi, think hard.

Randi: No, no, the elevator -- I was the only one in there, and the hallway was empty when I walked in.

Jesse: Good. So you're sure, you didn't tell anybody you were coming to see North? Right?

Randi: No, no.

Jesse: So nobody could possibly know that you were here, other than me. Right? Randi? What?

Randi: There's someone who might know.

Jesse: Who?

Randi: Zach Slater.

Jesse: Oh, God.

Zach: My wife is to go on trial to murder, and you're telling me not to worry. How does that work?

Madison: It just does.

Zach: I'm going to need more than that.

Madison: All right. Look, I don't owe you any explanations. You can either trust me and relax, or not. See, look at that. Just like you, my luck's changing.

Scott: Let's bet it all on one spin. Try your luck.

Marissa: Most of that was your money.

Scott: Well, you got to be in it to win it.

Marissa: So is this the new, unpredictable Scott Chandler?

Scott: That depends. Do you like him?

Marissa: Definitely. Ok, see.

Scott: All right.

Marissa: Come on, come on, come on. Oh.

Scott: All right. Ok, you --

Marissa: Oh!

[Scott laughing]

Marissa: Oh, that sucks. I really thought we were going to win.

[Scott sighing]

Scott: Yeah, what every casino manager counts on. They suck you in, they pump you up, and then they laugh when you lose 100 bucks.

Marissa: Get out your wallet.

Scott: What?

Marissa: Just do it. Give me all your money.

Scott: Is this a holdup?

Marissa: Come on, we'll pool our cash and make it all back.

Scott: Ok, forget what I just said. That -- that right there is what every casino manager counts on. No, Marissa, we lost.

Marissa: Yeah, once. Maybe next time we'll win. But if you're too scared, we could just, you know, stand and watch, maybe drink some Shirley temples.

Scott: All right. No, no, no, no, no. Ok, ok, I'm in. So what's it going to be, more slots? What, craps?

Marissa: I'm in the mood for some blackJack.

Madison: Oh!

[Madison laughing]

Jesse: What, did Zach ask you to come here as a way to help Kendall? What was his plan, to sleep with his garbage so he would drop the charge?

Randi: Jesse --

Jesse: I will --

[Jesse sighing]

[Phone ringing]

Jesse: Speak of the devil.

Randi: Are you going to answer it?

Jesse: No, I'm not ready to speak with Zach right now.

[Phone continuing]

Jesse: You're reached Chief Hubbard. If this is an emergency, please dial 911. Otherwise, leave a message, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Randi: It's not what you think, ok? Henry was being followed by Zach, and Zach was trying to get dirt on him, and he just -- he followed him to my place, and so he confronted me about it.

[Randi sighing]

Jesse: Did you tell Zach about your past with this guy?

Randi: I had to.

[Jesse sighing]

Randi: And I told him about this weekend. I told him about Henry inviting me here.

Jesse: And he urged you to come up, right?

Randi: No, no, Zach told me that he was dangerous and I shouldn't even consider it, but I thought that somehow I could talk some sense into Henry. Oh, my God, and I thought I could get him to back off of you and Kendall and me and --

Jesse: Hey, hold up -- me? Me?

Randi: He said if I didn't show up that he'd make your life a living hell, and I didn't want that for you, Jesse, I just --

Jesse: Baby, baby. No, it's ok, it's ok. It's ok. We're going to get through this.

Randi: I can't even imagine what you think of me right now.

Jesse: Stop it, stop it.

Randi: I swear to you, when I knew Henry, he was a decent man, and I really thought that I --

Jesse: It's ok, it's ok. All right?

[Phone ringing]

Jesse: Is that you?

Randi: No.

Jesse: Well, it must be his.

[Randi sighing]

Randi: Who is it? Is it his wife?

Jesse: Not even close.

Zach: Give us a second.

Madison: I'm on a roll.

Zach: Your husband's not answering his phone.

Madison: There's no surprise. He's usually not reachable when he goes out of town. Unless, of course, he's paying you for sex. Speaking of missing significant others, have you found yours yet?

Zach: No.

Madison: Well, maybe she took her own trip to D.C, hmm? Last-ditch effort to try to appeal to Henry's empathetic side? Too bad he doesn't have one.

Zach: When you hear something, you let me know.

Madison: Will do.

D.A. North: Thank God. Help me.

Madison: Who did this to you? Was it one of the hookers that you hired? What happened to you? Didn't give her enough of my money?

D.A. North: Oh, please.

Madison: Do you remember the last time that we talked? You told me that sometimes I make it hard for you to love me.

D.A. North: Help me.

Madison: I wish I could. But right now, you're making it very hard for me to love you.

Madison: Yes, hi. I'm calling from the Jefferson Suite, D.A. North's room.

Francesca: Should I cut her off?

Zach: No. Give Mrs. North anything she wants.

Francesca: You sure?

Zach: Yeah. Anything on Kendall?

Francesca: No, not yet.

Zach: Ok, let me know.

Francesca: You going somewhere?

Zach: Yeah. It's a long shot.

Francesca: How long?

Zach: I'm about to find out.

Singer: There is a piece of me you will not recognize

Annie: You didn't see me shoot anyone, and you know it.

J.R.: Don't listen to her, Dad.

Annie: Right. God forbid anyone listen to me. I'm just a lunatic, right?

J.R.: Pretty much.

Annie: Yeah, a lunatic who found you scared and alone, who brought you to safety when I could have escaped. A lunatic who gave you CPR that night.

J.R.: Enough already. I'm calling the police.

Adam: No, no.

J.R.: Annie shot uncle Stuart, Dad. You remembered.

Adam: I haven't remembered a damn thing.

Annie: I knew it.

J.R.: Ok, I'm lost. You made all this up? Why?

Annie: To test me. Just like everybody else in this town, Adam doesn't believe a word that I said.

Adam: Oh, that's not true. I do believe you -- or most of me does. I just wanted to be absolutely sure, and I am.

Annie: You betrayed me, Adam. Out of the zillion people who were in this house that night, I was the only one, the only one who wasn't here to hurt you, and that includes your son.

Adam: If I could -- just let me explain.

Annie: No, I honestly thought that we had something.

Adam: We do.

Annie: No, not without trust. Without trust, we have nothing.

Adam: Annie?

J.R.: You still don't remember anything?

Adam: No, no. And poor Annie.

J.R.: Will you stop defending her? She's a psychotic murderer.

Adam: Shut your mouth. Annie has done nothing wrong.

J.R.: You were just accusing her five seconds ago.

Adam: I needed the truth. Where are you going?

J.R.: To see my son. At least when he plays games, I understand the rules.

Adam: Ah. I see you brought along your escort. Yes, is Zach in there, too? I hope you're satisfied.

Kendall: Are you joking? Annie didn't admit to anything.

Adam: Precisely, because she didn't kill my brother.

Ryan: You don't know that, Adam.

Adam: Oh, really? I don't know that? Did you not hear Annie?

Kendall: Just because she didn't confess doesn't mean that she's innocent.

Ryan: You gave in too easily.

Adam: Excuse me?

Ryan: If you had stayed on her, she would have cracked.

Adam: Good God, it's never enough for you people, is there? Well, I'm sorry you didn't get your scapegoat. Now get the hell out of my house.

Kendall: Adam, come on.

Adam: Out!

Kendall: Listen -- listen to me. You never would have gone along with this if you didn't have any doubt.

Adam: What I never should have done was trust you, the woman who took my brother away from me.

Kendall: No, no, I did not shoot Stuart.

Adam: Yeah, tell it to a judge, and when he sends you away for the rest of your life, I'm going to have front-row seats.

[Door closing]

Guard: Is there a problem?

Adam: Yes, these two. Call the police. Have them charged with breaking and entering.

Ryan: Are you serious?

Adam: Oh, yes, quite serious. Deadly serious. What -- what do you think you're doing?

Kendall: I'm dialing. I get a phone call, right?

Scott: Hit me. Ow! That is how it is done! 21 again. I'm, like, the blackJack champion.

Marissa: Ok, come on, champ, let's go.

Scott: What, now? Are you crazy? No.

Marissa: You ever heard of quitting while you're ahead?

Scott: Have you ever heard of a lucky streak? Come on, look at this. We have won back everything we lost, and then some.

Marissa: Yeah, which is why it's the perfect time to bail. You know what they say -- always walk away up.

Scott: No, that sounds like something a planner would say. What, did you read that in a gambling manual?

Marissa: No, come on. It's better than walking away down. Or worse, walking away broke.

Scott: Where's your sense of adventure? Ok. If we win big, I will take you out to a very expensive restaurant. Lobster, steak. Surf and turf, huh? Anyplace you want, your choice.

Marissa: And if we lose?

Scott: If we lose, we will hit the drive-thru big-time. One more hand.

Marissa: Fine, one more hand, but no more doubling down. It makes me nervous.

Scott: Ok, all right. You know what? On second thought, I'm going to go ahead and cash out.

Marissa: What? Why?

Scott: Yeah.

Randi: Oh, my God. What am I going to tell Frankie?

Jesse: You're jumping ahead. We haven't got there yet.

Randi: He took such a chance on me. Considering my past, who does something like that?

Jesse: My son does -- look at me. My son does something like that, ok? He's lucky to have you, Randi. Especially now, now that you're about to give him the most amazing gift ever. Come on.

Randi: He's going to be happy, right?

Jesse: You kidding me? He's going to be over the moon. I'm over the moon. And forget about Angela. She's -- trust me, she's going to be crazy happy. Ok?

Randi: So then everything's going to be ok?

Jesse: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, everything's going to be ok.

Randi: Ok, so then we just need to figure out, what do we do next?

Jesse: Yeah, and with the quickness.

[Knock at door]

Marissa: Don't do that.

Scott: What?

Marissa: Well, you're all gung ho about playing another hand. And then suddenly J.R. walks in and it's time to go? I thought we were having fun.

Scott: We were -- we are. We are. But you obviously want to talk to the guy. Isn't that why you came to the office?

Marissa: Well, yeah, but that was then.

Scott: And J.R. is here now. Seriously, don't let me get in the way.

J.R.: Get in the way of what?

Scott: Hey, man, what's up?

J.R.: You, apparently. I didn't take you for a gambler. So much for the late night at the office, you rebel.

Marissa: Turns out your cousin's full of surprises.

Scott: What are you doing here?

J.R.: Well, I was on my way home to see little Adam, and I was feeling a little bit stressed out from the day, so I thought I'd swing by here and watch everyone lose all their money. It has an odd way of relaxing me.

Marissa: [Laughing] Nice.

Scott: Sorry you're having such a rough one.

J.R.: Thank you.

Scott: You should tell Marissa all about it.

Marissa: What? Where are you going?

Scott: I got to head back to the office. You keep the streak alive, all right? Thank you. Yeah.

Dealer: Tip.

Scott: Don't let her near the slots.

Adam: I'm sure you all know this lady. She is my brother's murderer. She probably broke in to correct her mistake or finish me off for good.

Kendall: Ok, he's lying.

Adam: And there's an innocent woman upstairs with a monitor clamped to her ankle. I suggest we take it off of Annie and put it on you.

Jack: Oh, I don't think that's going to be necessary, Adam.

Kendall: Thank God, Jack. You're not going to believe what he's trying to do.

Jack: I'd like to hear this from Adam.

Adam: Well, Ryan and Kendall broke in through our tunnels.

Jack: Can anyone here corroborate that?

Adam: J.R. and Annie were here just before these two showed their faces.

Kendall: Ok, can I say something, please?

Jack: Sure.

Kendall: I had an idea that we would test Annie. And I thought that maybe if Adam admitted he remembered everything from the night of the murder, he would say that he saw Annie kill Stuart.

Jack: In other words, you wanted him to lie.

Kendall: Yeah. So we could find out the truth. And he totally went along with it.

Jack: What's your part in all this, Ryan?

Ryan: I am just here for support, Jack.

Jack: I see. Someone want to tell me what happened?

Adam: Well, actually, nothing happened, because Annie's not guilty.

Kendall: No, no. She totally knew what we were doing, and she got mad and stormed off.

Ryan: Which is why Adam is all upset and we're about to be arrested.

Jack: Nobody's going to be arrested. Adam, it's not breaking and entering if you're in cahoots with your intruders. You want to use those handcuffs? Arrest this one right here.

Adam: What in God's name am I guilty of?

Jack: Wasting everybody's time.

[Knock at door]

Jesse: Who is it?

Waiter: Room service.

Jesse: Um, I didn't order any room service.

Waiter: Well, there's a whole spread here. Be a shame to let it go to waste.

Jesse: Tell you what, I'm a little indisposed at the moment. Why don't you just leave it there and I'll get it in a second?

Waiter: No problem. Thanks for the generous tip.

Randi: [Whispering] You think he's gone?

Jesse: [Whispering] Get back. All the way back.

Randi: Now what?

Jesse: Now we start damage control.

Randi: Jesse, we're covering this up?

Jesse: Do you see any other options?

Randi: No, this is crazy. I can't ask you to do that.

Jesse: You didn't ask me to do this. Randi, the man was about to rape you, all right? You were protecting yourself, protecting your child.

Randi: Yeah, but I --

Jesse: When you fought him off.

Randi: I killed him.

Jesse: You are not a murderer. You hear me? You are not going down for this. This was self-defense. You got to trust me, ok? You trust me? You trust me? Good, good. Because I'm going to need you to trust me, ok?

Randi: Ok.

[Knock at door]

Adam: Oh, no. No.

Annie: How long have you been here?

Adam: I, uh -- I thought you'd gone.

Annie: I almost did. You hurt me, Adam.

Adam: Annie, I hate myself for doubting you or even pretending to doubt you. And I know I don't deserve it, but do you think you could find it in your heart to, at least, try to forgive me?

J.R.: That was weird how Scott just took off like that. Were you on a date?

Marissa: No, no, no, no. I just -- I ran into him at your office.

J.R.: My office? What were you doing at Chandler?

Marissa: Um, I was looking for you. I wanted to talk about the kiss and my total overreaction.

J.R.: That was my fault.

Marissa: No, it wasn't. You were just being honest.

J.R.: Yeah -- not really. I didn't freak out because of babe. I mean, yes, when I'm with you, I think about her a lot. But that's not why I blew you off.

Marissa: So why did you?

J.R.: I'm not good at the relationship thing.

Marissa: Yeah, I mean, you were married, had a kid.

J.R.: Yeah, all within minutes of meeting babe. When I find someone that I like, I tend to have one speed, and that's full speed ahead, you know?

Marissa: That's not always a bad thing.

J.R.: It's not always a good thing either, especially when it comes to little A. I forget that if it doesn't work out, I'm not the only one that gets burned. So when I felt us get close, that's what set off the alarms.

Marissa: I didn't realize I was so dangerous.

J.R.: Oh, man, this is coming out wrong. I'm just trying to be smarter.

Marissa: About anything in particular?

J.R.: About life. Me and my son.

Marissa: Is this like an AA thing?

J.R.: Sort of, yes. Making amends. I should have been straight with you from the beginning. So I'm -- I'm sorry.

Marissa: Apology accepted.

J.R.: Yeah.

Annie: I got the bracelet off, opened the window, and froze.

Adam: Why?

Annie: Because where am I going to go? I have nobody that will help me, I have nobody I can trust.

Adam: That's not true. You can trust me.

Annie: I used to think so. Anyway, I realized it was pointless and stupid because the cops would be after me in a matter of hours and, most importantly, running makes me look guilty. Which I'm not.

Adam: For whatever it's worth, I am so glad you stayed. Well, I don't know. You may agree with this or not, but I need you, Annie, and I think you need me, too.

Annie: What I need is somebody in my corner.

Adam: Yes, that would be me.

Annie: How? You tested me, Adam. That makes you the same as everybody else in this town.

Adam: I want to be different than everybody else in this town. I want to be better. I want to be the man that makes you smile, that makes you feel safe. I can be that man if you'll let me.

[Phone rings]

[Randi gasping]

Kendall: Oh, Jack, thank you. Thank you so much.

Ryan: Yeah, seriously, Jack, we'd probably be down at the station right now, if it wasn't for you.

Kendall: Yeah. See? I told you. I knew it. You're mad.

Jack: Of course I'm mad. Going to Adam on your own, concocting that ridiculous plan.

Ryan: It wasn't really that ridiculous.

Jack: It was ridiculous. What the hell were you thinking about?

Kendall: Oh, I don't know, that maybe I'd like to see my boys grow up. Jack, we know that Annie killed Stuart.

Jack: No, you don't know that. You want her to be guilty, but you don't have any proof.

Kendall: Well, that's what I was doing. I was looking for proof.

Jack: How the hell can I help you when you won't do anything -- boy, the acorn does not fall far from the oak tree. Listen to me. You do know that what you did was rash and irresponsible, right?

Kendall: Yes, I do. You know what? At this point I really don't care.

Jack: Oh.

Kendall: I'm not going to sit around and wait for the entire planet to decide my fate.

Jack: So you decided to take matters into your own hands.

Kendall: Yes, I did.

Jack: Just like you did the night that Stuart was killed. Now look where that landed you. I'm disgusted with both of you.

[Door slamming]

Marissa: Thanks. So we'll be friends. I'm new in town, right? I could always use more of those.

J.R.: No, that's not what I want.

Marissa: You don't? What do you want?

J.R.: I was thinking more like a date. Something casual, mellow.

Marissa: Yeah, right, right. We wouldn't want to move too fast.

J.R.: So is that a yes?

Marissa: Yeah, on one condition.

J.R.: Damn. I knew this was too easy.

Marissa: No. Whatever we do, we bring little a with us.

J.R.: That's a condition that I can live with.

Adam: And that should do it.

Annie: Thank you.

Adam: Annie --

Annie: Shh, shh, shh. It's ok. You were right, you know?

Adam: About what?

Annie: I do need you. I never stopped.

Kendall: Ryan, what if this is the last time I get to play with Spike like this?

Ryan: Don't go there, ok?

Kendall: I have to. I have to. Spike: What's this?

Kendall: I know.

Ryan: Those are some buttons that the lights go flashing.

Kendall: I mean, we worked totally hard, but this could be it.

Ryan: No, Kendall, maybe not, ok? I'm serious, all right? You got to believe that. Something could come up, something that we don't know about, maybe some new evidence or a new suspect.

Kendall: No, no. As far as North is concerned, there are no other suspects. It's just me. And he won't stop until a jury agrees with him.

[Door unlocking]

Manager: I told you, this is really against the company policy.

Zach: Right, here you go.

Manager: Like I told you, empty.

Zach: Anybody come to see the D.A. Today? A woman? This woman?

Manager: All I know is someone ordered room service from the suite a little over an hour ago.

Zach: Ah. And they delivered it?

Manager: Yes. Which begs the question, what the hell happened to the cart?

Zach: A better question. Where's North?

Randi: You're sure that this is going to work?

Jesse: Yeah, it has to.

Randi: So the car just goes off the road and then --

Jesse: And then when he's found, they will determine the cause of death, trauma to the head, which can easily be caused in an accident like this.

Randi: Yeah, but Henry died hours ago. Aren't the autopsy people going to be able to tell that it --

Jesse: No, not if the car explodes the way it's supposed to, ok?

Randi: Jesse --

Jesse: Listen to me. We're doing this, all right? We're doing this, ok? Are you ready?

Randi: Ok.

Jesse: All right. Stand back. Stand back.
