Jake: How are you feeling?
Liza: I'm fine.
Jake: Mm-hmm. Any dizziness or shortness of breath?
Liza: Uh, Jake, I'm not really pregnant.
Jake: Oh, well, you're about to be.
Colby: What the hell are you doing? Erica, why are you in my mother's room? In her underwear drawer?
Scott: Are you all right?
Krystal: David was so angry, I thought he was gonna kill me.
Scott: Like he killed my father?
Ryan: Marry Zach.
Kendall: Are you serious?
Zach: Why would she do that?
Kendall: Ok, wait a minute. Are -- you're just saying this so that Zach can't testify against me. That's all, right?
Ryan: Exactly, yeah. Why else would I be suggesting it?
Kendall: But, Ryan, you can incriminate me, too.
Zach: That's a good point. Marry him. It's a better idea.
Ryan: We really shouldn't wait on this.
Kendall: Ok, great. Why don't we flip a coin, I'll call a minister, and we'll get right to it. Are you serious? You both actually think this is a good idea? I have to pick one of you to be my husband right now?
Ryan: This is the best possible way to protect you, ok? Do the cops know that you saw her that night with a gun?
Kendall: Zach had to tell them some things to get out. I'm ok with what he said. Now he's free to be with Ian. But no one ever said anything about getting married.
Zach: Excuse me. I told Jesse and the DA that Kendall didn't shoot anybody.
Ryan: But I'm sure they didn't believe you.
Zach: No, they didn't. But now I'm free, and I can find out who really shot Stuart.
Ryan: And I got guys on that, too, but we have to move very quickly here, people. The DA is pushing for a quick trial.
Zach: So now we need a quick wedding so one of us has spousal privileges. Ok, who's it going to be?
Ryan: It has to be Zach. All right? It has to be Zach. With us, they just -- you know, the cops just found a discrepancy in our story, that's all. It happens all the time. We can chalk it up to nerves or whatever. But it's going to be much, much more difficult to explain away what Zach said and what he saw. Kendall, you could end up in prison for the rest of your life.
Kendall: Away from my boys? Ok, I'll marry you.
Erica: I'm looking for evidence. Something to prove that your mother pointed the finger at Kendall so the police won't know that your mother is the one who really murdered Stuart.
Colby: My mom took back everything she said about Kendall.
Erica: Well, a lot of good that did -- the damage was already done. The DA still thinks that Kendall is the main suspect. But I am going to find something, some evidence that proves that Liza is the guilty one.
Colby: You shouldn't be here.
Erica: Colby, I just want justice, and I think you do, too. Your mother has no alibi for the night of Stuart's murder, so she asked you to fabricate one and you refused. Because I think you believe your mother killed Stuart, too.
Colby: Maybe I did, but I don't know anything for sure.
Erica: You know that your mother is desperate to get you back into her life. You know that she considers Adam to be her biggest obstacle -- the man she blames for turning her only child against her. And your mother felt she had to eliminate her biggest obstacle any way she could, even if it meant committing murder.
Colby: My mom swears she didn't kill Uncle Stuart.
Erica: But you're not sure you believe her. We need answers, Colby. So I'm doing what the police won't do. I am investigating Liza. There has just got to be some evidence lying around here, and I feel that there is. I am so close to it. I can just feel it. Do you want to help me?
Colby: Nail my mom for murder? No, thanks.
Erica: Well, maybe you'll find something that will exonerate her.
Colby: You think so?
Erica: No, but you can give it your best shot.
Liza: What is that? It's got my name on it.
Jake: Yes, it does. That's from the archives. That's when you were pregnant with Colby. This has got complete tests in there, notes, my examinations, everything. All I had to do was change the dates and the sex to fit the baby. So, congratulations, you are officially pregnant.
Liza: Oh, wow. I appreciate all of this, but I'm actually more concerned about the real baby. How am I going to get Amanda's child without anyone knowing?
Jake: Right, right. Well, here's what's going to happen. I'm going to take Amanda to Barbados, ok. She's going to have a C-section. You're going to lay low for a couple of weeks. Then you're going to re-emerge with a beautiful baby, and you're going to introduce it to the world as your new son.
Liza: And when do you guys actually leave?
Jake: Right, well, I can't finalize a due date until I do a number of things. I have to check the baby's lung function and a barrage of tests, but it'll be done, and when it is and I know everything is safe, it'll happen. Oh, and this here -- this is sort of an insurance policy in case anybody goes snooping around or what have you. You are now officially documented.
Liza: You mean if David Hayward goes snooping around. You really have covered everything.
Scott: Yeah, tell Chief Hubbard to get over to Wildwind right away. I have some important information regarding my dad's -- the murder of Stuart Chandler.
David: Ohh --
Krystal: So you really think David killed your father?
Scott: You're damn straight. So is this the part where you defend him?
Krystal: No. Actually, I think you might be right.
David: What -- ow.
Scott: Get used to it, Hayward, because I'm going to be all over you day and night, until they lock you up for the rest of your pathetic life.
Liza's voice: Dear Colby, it's been almost three days since you left. I've called, but you won't answer. I thought about following you, but that would only push you further away. I haven't stopped thinking of you, not for a second. I'm sorry we fought, and I'm sorry for what I said. Please, don't shut me out. Dear Colby, Happy Sweet 16. I can hardly believe it. It seems like yesterday I was rocking you to sleep in my arms. I wish I could be there to celebrate with you, but I know you're angry. But, please, would you write back? Just let me know you're ok. Dear Colby, it's a bright, clear New Year's day, and I am hopeful that you and I might take this chance to start fresh? If there's anything you want to say -- you hate me, you wish I wasn't your mom -- I can take it. But the silence, it's -- today's April Fools, and I realize I'm a fool. I haven't heard from you, because you've never received any of my letters. Your father's been hiding them from you. Adam, if you're reading this, I know what you're doing. You're trying to make my daughter forget me. It won't work. Dear Colby, you must think I'm crazy to keep writing these letters that your father won't let you see, but I won't stop. Because someday you'll read these words, and you will know how I really feel. You'll know the truth of how much your mother loves you.
Liza: You really think we can pull this off?
Jake: I think it's a perfect plan, and I think before you know it, you're going to be the proud mother of a bouncing baby boy. Now we need to check out something, ok? Hold on to your hat.
Liza: Well, what -- that -- this obviously couldn't be mine.
Jake: No, it is. That's Colby when she was 28 weeks.
Liza: Oh, my God. Oh, wow, she's beautiful.
Jake: I remember when I saw this for the first time and I thought -- I thought it was my baby girl. I thought I was a father for the first time.
Liza: You know, you are going to be a father one of these days, and you are going to be a terrific dad.
Jake: Right.
Amanda: Hey, is that your baby?
Liza: Yeah, actually, that is.
Amanda: Isn't it crazy how much you can see? So do you know if it's a boy or a girl?
Liza: Well, I --
Jake: Ah, well, she wants it to be a surprise, so...
Amanda: Oh.
Jake: What I'll do is I will make some prints of that and keep it in your file, ok, so you have it.
Liza: Thank you.
Jake: Ok.
Liza: For everything.
Jake: No problem.
Amanda: Hmm, you know, I know you gave me the whole thing against trusting Liza, but I like her. I hope everything goes ok with her baby.
Jake: I think it will. I don't have a doubt in my mind.
Kendall: Are you sure you're ok with this?
Ryan: Well, I'm not signing up to be the best man, but I understand it's the best way to protect you.
Kendall: You know, we're doing this for Spike and Ian so that their parents are free and this whole nightmare is over.
Zach: Hey, Ryan. Quick question. You don't think I shot Stuart, do you?
Kendall: No, Ryan knows you're innocent. Tell him.
Ryan: If you shot an innocent man and killed him, especially a man as innocent as Stuart -- there's no way that you would get yourself out of prison. You would be so buried in guilt, you'd probably have the cops throw away the key. So -- when is this wedding happening?
Zach: The sooner the better, apparently.
Ryan: Well --
Zach: We'll get right on it.
Ryan: Forgive me for not sticking around and watching.
Kendall: Wait, Ryan.
Pete: You thought your mom completely forgot about you, but she's been writing you this whole time.
Colby: Everything my mother felt was in those letters. She did remember. She did care. But my dad kept that from me. He stole from me so I'd keep on hating her. My poor mom. I've been so mean to her.
Pete: Now you know the truth. I mean, she's crazy about you. When's the last one she sent?
Colby: Uh, I don't know exactly. Uh -- maybe this one. It's got lipstick on it.
Pete: That's not lipstick. It's blood.
Jake: Hey, how did the checkup go with Pierce?
Amanda: Uh, he said that everything's fine.
Jake: Really -- then why do you look like you're about to cry?
Amanda: I'm this pregnant. I cry when I chip my manicure --
Jake: No, no, I think this is a little bit more than just hormones.
Amanda: I'm just worried. I've been here twice already thinking that I might lose the baby and then the Braxton-Hicks.
Jake: I know, but I told you, that's very common. Didn't I say that?
Amanda: Yeah, but it still scared the crap out of me. I mean, what if it happens again, but for real this time and the baby comes too soon, and we don't have time to hide him away from David, and he takes my son away from me?
Jake: I told you, I have all of that covered. I have it covered.
Amanda: Jake, you can't cover everything, ok? What if something goes wrong?
Scott: There he is. That's the man who killed my father.
Jesse: Got any proof?
David: Ask her. Go ahead, Krystal, don't be shy. Tell Jesse what you told Scott. You think I murdered Stuart.
Scott: Marissa came over here to see Krystal, and she found David wasted, pouring his guts out. He pretty much told her he shot my dad.
David: That's moronic, all right? Why would I confess to a crime I didn't commit?
Scott: Oh, it's so obvious. Look at yourself. You're a total mess. You're hung-over from trying to drink away your guilt. And now that you're busted, at least have the decency to admit what you did.
Jesse: You're kind of quiet over here, Krystal. You got anything to add?
Krystal: You know that David was at the mansion the night of the murder.
Jesse: But according to you, he didn't make it past the front gate.
Scott: Little Adam saw his Grandpa David inside the house that night.
Jesse: Little Adam sees heffalumps under his bed. Not a reliable witness. But if you are now saying that he did turn around and leave that night, we got a whole new story, right?
Krystal: Nobody wanted Adam dead more than David.
David: All right, that's it. Cuff me.
Officer: Should I, Chief?
Scott: Jesse, do it.
David: All right, come on. You might as well. I can't fight Krystal. She's determined to bring me down for murder. She needs to believe I killed Stuart, so she can go running back to her ex-husband with a clear conscience.
Erica: Oh, excuse me. Ryan, have you seen Kendall?
Ryan: Yes, I have. She's in Ian's room planning her wedding -- to Zach.
Erica: Very funny.
Ryan: I'm serious, actually. The justice of the peace will be here any minute. Spousal privilege. If they get married, then Zach can't testify against her.
Erica: I see -- of course. That makes so much sense.
Ryan: There's no other choice. Zach's testimony would destroy her.
Erica: Then you're ok with this?
Ryan: It was my idea, Erica, to protect Kendall, but if Zach thinks that anything else is going to happen, then he's going to be in for a very rude awakening.
Erica: You've made your position quite clear. You know what, Ryan? I just want my daughter to be safe and happy.
Ryan: Which is exactly what I want. And obviously, the thought of her marrying another man -- rips me apart. But I can handle it if it means she's protected.
Erica: Ok, I guess I better go find my daughter and wish her luck.
Colby: Why would a letter from my mom have blood all over it?
Pete: Well, if you hold it to the light, you can see the postmark, and -- it was sent --
Colby: Sent when? Pete, what's wrong?
Pete: This letter was sent in May, and it obviously wasn't sent with blood all over it.
Colby: So it got blood on it at my house?
Pete: In the last month. And who bled a lot at your house recently?
Colby: You think it's my Uncle Stuart's blood?
Pete: I'll go test this. I'll call you as soon as I find anything out. Oh, hey. I, um, I'm late for a comic book convention.
Liza: Well, Pete is, um -- he's kind of unusual, huh?
Colby: Mom, what are you doing here?
Liza: Well, I just came from the concierge at the Yacht Club, and she said that you were looking for me.
Colby: Yeah.
Liza: She said you went to my room, and when I got up there, you weren't there, and a few of my things were out of place. What were you doing in my room?
David: Sorry to disappoint you, Chief. There's nothing here. Scott is desperate to pin his father's murder on someone other than the people he gave his shoddy heart valve to. And my beautiful wife here -- she just wants to hurt the man she loves.
Krystal: I don't love you. Not anymore. And looking at you right now, I wonder how I ever did. My friends were right, you know. I must have been out of my mind.
David: Women, huh? You're so damn fickle. You know, one minute you're the hero, the next you're a killer. Go figure. Just give it another half-hour. I'll be the good guy again. Sorry they had to take up your time, Chief.
Jesse: You're not off the hook yet, Hayward.
Scott: Then take him in. We have someone who heard his confession.
David: The only thing my long-lost daughter heard was me cursing at the world!
Krystal: Marissa called me from here, and she was scared out of her mind. She said you were going on and on about the wrong person being killed in the mansion that night, that it was supposed to be Adam.
Scott: That's exactly what she told me.
David: So what?! Isn't that pretty much what everybody in this town feels?
Krystal: I know you, David. The pain gets too great, so you grab a bottle and you chug until you can't think anymore. And then you can't fight. You can't lie. And that's when it all comes out. You shot Stuart. And you drank to ease your guilt.
David: No, damn it. I drank to ease my pain. The pain because you were gone. I am not the killer, Krystal. You are. You killed our marriage. And when you walked out, you killed me.
Liza: Well, um, I'm just so glad you finally got them. You know, I remember writing the very first one three years ago when we had that -- oh, God, that horrible fight. And you ran out of the house and you said to me, "I never want to see you again."
Colby: I'm sorry.
Liza: Listen, we both said some things that we didn't mean. But I was so angry at you.
Colby: You said you were angry, but your letters were all so nice.
Liza: Oh -- Colby, I was so angry. I was mostly angry at myself, because I just wasn't the mother that you needed. And I was really angry at you because no matter what I did, you just kept running back to Adam, and that just -- hurt. So -- I started writing. And, uh, all of that anger just turned into sadness, because I realized that, uh, without you -- I just had nothing. You see, I'm a mom. And it's my responsibility to make sure that you are happy. But I was just -- I was selfish. I only was thinking about what it was that I needed. So I wrote you that first letter, because I just really wanted to apologize. And then you didn't write back, and I was crushed.
Colby: I would have, I swear.
Liza: I know. I know. I just figured you were just too angry, but then a year went by, and it dawned on me that your father just -- he wasn't giving them to you. And it turned out that I was right. So, um, I know this is all a little -- too little too late. But, you see, I never stopped loving you -- ever.
Erica: Well, I understand that congratulations are in order.
Kendall: There's nothing to celebrate, Mom. Zach and I are getting married so he won't have to testify against me. That's it.
Erica: Well, if your baby knew what was happening, he'd be happy, too. Mommy and Daddy reuniting -- it's wonderful.
Kendall: It's not what's happening.
Erica: In a few hours, you're going to be Zach's wife, again.
Kendall: On paper.
Erica: Right, on paper. This is just a practical solution to a big problem, like the first time you and Zach got married. He helped you out with Ethan, you helped him with his gaming licenses. And then you fell madly in love. Oh, but I mean, no danger of history repeating itself, because you're with Ryan now.
Ryan: Goodness, you're so heavy! How did you get so heavy? Were you a good girl for Opal?
Opal: Oh, she was a dream as ever. Bette Davis -- "All About Eve."
Ryan: Nice, very nice.
Opal: We were just getting to the good part, weren't we, Emma? You know, over at Tad's, it's kind of a rumble for the video machine. The other night I got all settled in with my popcorn and everything, pushed the play button, and what comes up but one of Amanda's movies of a lady giving birth. I mean, who in the world shoots those close-ups? That's my question. Yeah, I mean, who would want to be right there?
Ryan: Wow, these are beautiful. Good job. These look nice.
Opal: Uh, Emma, honey, would you mind doing a big favor for Opal and go get my purse for me? I think it's in the kitchen. Could you do that? This is, uh, one of Emma's drawings. She threw it away, but I fished it out of the trash. I thought you should see it.
Colby: How come you've never told me about the letters?
Liza: Well, you didn't give me a chance. You know, I -- every time I called you up, you couldn't wait to get off the phone with me. Then I finally mustered up the courage to come here to Pine Valley and called you, and you hung up on me.
Colby: But you came anyway. You've been here for weeks, and you never said a word about these.
Liza: I know. I wanted to.
Colby: If Dad hid the letters, how did you get them? You took them. That's why you didn't say anything. If you admitted you had the letters, it would prove you were in this house this night of the murder.
Liza: Colby -- yes. Yes, I did. I broke into the house to get these letters because I needed to prove to you that I wasn't the woman that your father was making me out to be. Colby, I had to come back and take what was mine, and I had a pretty good idea where to find it. So I took the letters and I left.
Colby: Liar.
Jake: So, you want to hear the plan?
Amanda: Mm-hmm.
Jake: Ok. In about a week, I'm going to swoop you off to Barbados. Just the two of us -- well, just the three of us.
Amanda: It sounds good so far.
Jake: Yeah. When you're going to give birth, I'm going to do the C-section and you're going to be under, just as you requested.
Amanda: Are you sure it's not too soon?
Jake: Well, I would never do anything unless it was safe. He's a very strong, healthy, beautiful boy, but I will run every test in the universe to make sure that he's fine.
Amanda: We have a good plan. It's just, now that it's here --
Jake: Now that it's here, we just have to make sure that everybody believes that this baby died, especially David Hayward. As terrible as that sounds, this is what we have to do. And we can do it. Complications with the birth. An emergency C-section weeks before the due date. Absolutely, this is stuff that's gonna make it very convincing. I even have a doctor that's going to write the death certificate for us.
Amanda: And as soon as it's born, you're going to give it to the adoptive parents?
Jake: Well, the plan of transfer is all set -- solid. It's going to be ok. The baby's going to be safe.
David: I told you all the truth. Now get the hell out of my house, all of you.
Scott: No, no, no, no. Hey, you're not buying this? What, this "poor me" routine? Call Marissa Tasker. She'll tell you he practically admitted pulling the trigger.
Jesse: Look, you want justice for your father. So do I. We're going to get it, just not tonight.
Scott: He's guilty, Jesse, and I'll prove it. And Krystal will help me.
Jesse: Scott. Scott.
Scott: What?
Jesse: Let me do my job, please? Meantime, stay away from Hayward. He's toxic, he's a hot mess.
Scott: David murdered my father!
Jesse: If he did, he's not going to admit to it right now, not drunk or sober.
Scott: I won't just walk away from this.
Jesse: He may be involved in this, and if he is, I'm gonna get him, ok?
J.P.: We have a bride, a groom, and a witness, so we're all set. We are gathered here today to unite in marriage Kendall hart and Zach Slater. Do you, Zach, take Kendall to be your wedded wife, to love, comfort, and honor her so long as you both shall live?
Zach: I do.
J.P.: Do you, Kendall, take Zach to be your wedded husband, to love, comfort, and honor him so long as you both shall live?
Kendall: I do.
J.P.: Do you have the rings?
Kendall: No, um, I'm sorry, we don't have any rings.
Zach: I have rings.
Kendall: No.
J.P.: Place this ring on Kendall's finger and repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed.
Zach: With this ring, I thee wed.
J.P.: Place this ring on Zach's finger and repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed.
Kendall: With this ring, I thee wed.
J.P.: By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss.
[Zach turns around and leaves]
Ryan: Look at the sun. That is a perfect sun, and the flowers and the grass and everything. Hey -- um -- tell me about this one.
Emma: That picture was a mistake.
Ryan: Oh, yeah? Who's this?
Emma: No, I can't tell.
Ryan: Honey -- who told you not to tell?
Emma: Mommy.
Krystal: I gotta go.
David: Krystal, wait. You had every reason to believe that I shot Stuart. I did want Adam dead.
Krystal: So now the truth comes out, huh?
David: I had every intention of blowing that SOB away. But something stopped me.
Krystal: Yeah, I'm sure you were thinking about how much you loved me and how devastated I would be if you were sent off to prison.
David: No, I wasn't thinking about you at all.
Marissa: Daddy.
David: I thought about Amanda's unborn baby, my baby. And my grandson. And Marissa, the only daughter I have left. And as much as I hate Adam, I couldn't do it. So it wasn't you, Krystal. You didn't stop me. They did -- my children.
Amanda: It's all so final.
Jake: Yeah, but it's a happy ending, right, for everybody.
Amanda: What about when we come back from Barbados with no baby?
Jake: Well, the baby is going to have nothing but love, I mean, love all around it. That's what you need to focus on, ok? You wanted a life for this baby without David in it. That's what you wanted, right?
Amanda: It doesn't make it easy. So, uh, do I buy a plane ticket or --
[Cell phone rings]
Colby: Hey.
Pete: It's blood -- on the letter -- human blood. It has to be Stuart's.
Liza: Colby, honey, I am not lying to you about the letters.
Colby: Then why is Uncle Stuart's blood on them?
Liza: What?
Colby: You are a liar. You came here to kill my dad and you shot Uncle Stuart instead.
Liza: Colby, please, would you stop saying that?
Colby: Just don't touch me, ok? Just stop.
Erica: Get away from her now.
Zach: No need to cry, honey. It wasn't a real wedding.
Kendall: There is so much that I feel like I want to say to you. I love you. I feel like I can't say it often enough or loud enough. You know me. You knew my heart when I was too scared to look inside. And so I pledge my heart to you. The words, they're all -- they're jumbled in my head, but -- my heart makes sense. Can you hear it? I wish that you could hear it -- because it says that I love you.
Zach: You ok?
Kendall: Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah, uh -- I was, uh -- I was just -- just thinking about-- about Ryan.
Annie: You wanted to see me?
Ryan: I have some questions for you, and if you're not straight with me, then I'm going to have Emma talk to the police.
Annie: I don't understand.
Ryan: Emma drew this. That's you, right? Everybody knows you were at Chandler's the night of the murder, Annie. What did Emma see? Who were you pointing the gun at -- Annie?
Annie: Ok, I'll tell you.
