Angie: How are you feeling? Any blurry vision? Headache? Trouble sleeping?

Krystal: No. Have you seen David yet?

Angie: No, I haven't seen him. You want me to call him?

Krystal: No. No, I called him a half a dozen times, I just haven't been able to reach him.

Tad: So you get knocked on the head and end up in the hospital. He can't even pick up a phone. I'm guessing the honeymoon's over.

David: I've been here all night, Hubbard. How about some answers? Where is my grandson?

Jesse: I am not at liberty to discuss this.

David: I have a right to know.

Jesse: With J.R. in jail, Social Services felt it was best to put the boy under foster care.

David: Foster care? How the hell is that better than being with his grandparents?

Jesse: You really need me to answer that? Get your lawyer to take it up with the judge at the hearing.

David: And what about Adam? Why haven't you brought him in yet?

Jesse: We're working on it. J.R. is not talking.

David: Give me ten minutes alone with the bastard. I'll get him to talk.

Colby: I hate this. Where is Barry?

J.R.: He'll be here soon. In the meantime, keep your mouth shut. You understand?

Colby: I'm sorry, J.R. I didn't mean to hurt Krystal like that. I just -- I couldn't let her get Little A. She'd bring him to David.

J.R.: I know. And I appreciate your help, but you've got to let me handle it from now. You take a step back, or you're going to make things worse.

Colby: I'm really screwed, aren't I?

J.R.: Barry will do something. He'll keep you out of jail, at least.

Colby: But David's going to use this to get Dad back to town. What is it? What's the matter?

J.R.: There's something I haven't told you about Dad.

Zach: Hey.

Erica: Oh, how wonderful. You're home. Oh, I guess Kendall finally took my advice after all.

Zach: Did she?

Erica: Oh, I mean, I told her that I knew that if you two would just sit together in a room and talk, you certainly could get past all your problems. Where is she?

Zach: I have no idea. She didn't sleep here last night.

Kendall: The boys are probably wondering why Rachael is there this morning instead of me. I should probably get home. But it doesn't feel like a home anymore. It's all a reminder of what Zach and I tried to make work, but couldn't. God, every day feels like another battle. I don't know what I'd do without you.

Ryan: Kendall, we can't -- we can't do this anymore.

Kendall: Is there something wrong with helping each other along the way? With -- with meeting someone? I mean, come on, Ryan. No one else could possibly understand what you and I have been through these past few months.

Ryan: How is this helping? Maybe you can explain it to me, because I don't see how it's helping. I mean, your marriage is over, right? It's over. And I am more screwed up than I have ever been. I mean, Kendall, I'm still in love with Greenlee, so what the hell am I doing in bed with her best friend?

Kendall: All right, listen to me. I know -- I know it's crazy. The whole thing is crazy, all right? But we're just trying to work through the grief together, so stop beating yourself up. Please.

Ryan: It's not right. I mean, no matter what we say to each other, it's just -- it's just not right. And you know it's not right -- not this, not what we've done before, not you being here right now. None of it is right, Kendall.

Kendall: All right. Ok, listen. Listen to me a minute. We are hurting, all right? Greenlee is gone. You have lost Greenlee. I have lost Zach, so --

Ryan: Kendall, the more we try to justify it, the worse I feel, ok? I think you should go.

Kendall: Ryan, come on.

Ryan: Kendall, please. Please.

Ryan: [Sighs]

[Kendall leaves]

Erica: You're getting a divorce?

Zach: Running out of options.

Erica: No, you're running out on your marriage and your family.

Zach: That's not what I'm doing.

Erica: Well, what else would you call it? A month ago, you told me that you weren't going anywhere. So what happened, the tough times didn't end fast enough for you, so you're just giving up?

Zach: Tough times, huh?

Erica: Don't you remember sitting at Kendall's bedside and praying for a miracle? Well, that miracle happened. She came back to us. And I know it hasn't been easy. I know that Kendall seems different ever since the transplant. I understand that. But the woman you love, the woman you married is still in there.

Zach: The woman I love, the woman I fell in love with, is in love with someone else -- always has been.

J.R.: Dad collapsed. He's in a hospital. He's checked in under Stuart's name.

Colby: Oh, my God. Why didn't you tell me?

J.R.: Because I didn't want to risk them hearing. I didn't want to make you more upset.

Colby: How is he?

J.R.: Stable, but they're running more tests.

Colby: I have to get out of here. I have to go see him.

J.R.: No, that's exactly what you can't do, because they'll follow you, and they'll arrest Dad for kidnapping.

Colby: But he's all alone.

J.R.: Hayward's not just only after my son. He's -- he's out to bring Dad down. We have to do everything we can to keep Hayward away.

David: This is a farce. Why don't you just admit it? You've been in the tank for the Chandlers all along. You gave Adam the heads up that J.R. was about to lose Little A, even after he left the boy with a bottle of Scotch as a babysitter. Then you did absolutely nothing to prevent Adam from taking off with my grandson, and you knew damn well that Erica knew where they were. And you did nothing about for holding her for aiding and abetting. Now my wife is in the hospital and my grandson is consigned to foster care? Look, if you don't start doing your job, you're going to force me to do it for you.

Jesse: I really, really don't like you. I don't like what you're doing to the people in this town, and I don't like what you're trying to do to that little boy. And I especially don't like you getting all up in my face. And you had better never, ever think about threatening me again. You don't know me. Are we clear, Doctor?

David: Oh, yeah, Chief. I'm your biggest fan.

Jesse: Good, then you get the hell out of here.

David: You have got to be kidding me. Where were you 30 seconds ago?

Jay: What happened?

David: It's not important. I want you to get to the judge. Tell him I want my grandson out of foster care by lunch time.

Jay: I'll do what I can.

David: Today. You understand me?

Jay: Look, it's not that easy. I could make a case for temporary custody, but the court's going to want to be assured that the kid's going to a stable home, with two loving, caring parents.

David: Krystal and I are all that boy needs.

Jay: Then let me handle things here, and you get to hospital and make a good show of loving your wife.

David: I do love my wife. Don't you ever question that again.

Tad: Right now, a loving husband's place is by your side. And he's not here. Could it be because he doesn't give a damn?

Angie: I've tried to tell her, but it hasn't done any good. She doesn't want to listen. I've got rounds.

Tad: See you later. You know that's a bad sign, when good friends start treating you like a lost cause, because no matter how much they care about you, they can't reach you anymore. It's a sad footnote, which is all you're going to be if you don't break away from David sooner rather than later.

Krystal: Hey, well, wait a minute, now. You dump me on his doorstep, and now you care? Why are you here?

Tad: Because someday, I want to be able to tell our daughter the truth -- that I did everything I could to save your life.

David: What room is my wife in, please?

Nurse: 403.

Angie: A little late to be showing your concern, isn't it?

David: You have something you want to say to me, Doctor?

Angie: Krystal was checked in over 12 hours ago. You didn't come down here. You didn't even call. You don't know what her condition is or what care she was receiving.

David: I know a lot more than you realize. There are people in this hospital that actually care enough about their jobs to keep me apprised of things. As for her care, this is an excellent hospital. I knew she was in capable hands. If that's not the case, well, then maybe I need to reevaluate the people I have on my staff.

Angie: You know, I tell you what you need to reevaluate is trying to steal J.R.'s son and concentrate on your own family.

David: That little boy is my family. So you can tell your husband he can push his weight around all he wants. Nothing is going to keep me from my grandson, including that badge he hides behind.

Tad: You know what it's like to have a child taken away. So why on earth would you want to put J.R. through the same heartache?

Krystal: And you know what it's like to want to keep a child safe. I made Babe that promise, that I would keep Little A safe, and he is not safe in that house with J.R. and with Adam. He's not.

Tad: That is just David talking, and we both know it. Do you really, in your heart of hearts, think that Babe would want you to take their son away from his father?

Krystal: I'm not taking his son away from him. He can see him. I just know he's going to be safer with us.

Tad: All David wants is that little boy. Everything else and everyone else is secondary, including you.

Krystal: [Laughs]

Tad: You've already been through enough pain. Why do you want to put yourself through even more?

David: If you don't mind, I'd like some time alone with my wife.

Emma: Daddy!

Ryan: Hey, my princess! Hi! Did you have a fun sleepover?

Emma: We played char-peesi.

Ryan: Char-peesi?

Corrina: Parcheesi. She was rolling doubles like the dice were loaded.

Ryan: Ok. Well, thanks for taking her.

Corrina: Any time. Put this stuff upstairs?

Ryan: Yeah, that would be great. Thanks. You are a little hug-a-bug today.

Emma: Mommy said my hugs always help -- helped her when she was sad.

Ryan: Oh. They help me, too. And I've been sad a lot lately, haven't I?

Emma: Because Greenlee went to heaven?

Ryan: Yeah. Hey, you know what makes me happy, though? Spending time with you makes me happy. And that's what we're going to do today. We are going to pretend like it's a weekend, and I don't have to go to work, and you don't have to go to school, and we're just going to play, you and me, all day. How does that sound? We're going to start by making waffles and bacon.

Emma: Can I have chocolate chips, too?

Ryan: Of course, you can have chocolate chips. They wouldn't be "Emma waffles" without chocolate chips, you know that. Go upstairs and tell Corrina what we're doing, put on some play clothes, and come back down, and I will get breakfast started.

[Phone rings]

Ryan: Hello?

Jack: Hi, Ryan, it's Jackson. Um -- I wonder, can you come by the hospital this morning?

Ryan: Actually, it's not a good time, Jack. I have plans with Emma.

Jack: Well, that would be tough to say no to, but this won't take long and it's -- it's important. It -- it has to do with Greenlee.

Erica: You're seeing something that isn't there, Zach. I mean, of course, Kendall cares for Ryan -- they have a child together. But you -- you're the one she loves. And it is stronger than any love she's ever had or could ever possibly have.

Zach: Yeah. Well, Ryan and Kendall -- they share more than just a kid, and there's something between them. And that was their way before I got into town. And when I did come into town, I saw it. I know what it is, but I was hoping eventually it would go away. But it didn't. Not for him, not for her. There's a reason why -- why Kendall is the only one that Ryan remembered when he lost his memory, and why she ran to him when her marriage fell apart. So it's --

Erica: Well, she's confused. I mean, look at everything that was thrown at her the minute she got out of the coma.

Zach: I know. Lord, that's my fault. I did that. Reese and Gabrielle and I -- hey, maybe I did it on purpose, you know? Maybe I pushed -- pushed them together. I wanted Ryan and Kendall to be together, because it was going to happen eventually.

Erica: You know what I think? Zach, I think that you believe that you don't deserve to be happy. I think you're still wallowing in that "Cambias curse" nonsense. Well, let me tell you something. Just because your father and your brother were miserable human beings doesn't mean that you have to be unhappy as well. What you and Kendall have is extraordinary. You can't just walk away from your marriage.

Zach: This time, it's too late.

Erica: True love doesn't die that easily.

Zach: What about you? True love ever die on you?

Erica: We're talking about you and Kendall now.

Zach: And people who don't think they deserve happiness. Just wait for the sitter.

[Kendall shows up just as Zach is leaving]

Jesse: All right, you're free to go. Krystal is not pressing charges.

Colby: What about J.R.?

Jesse: J.R. won't be making bail any time soon. So get out of here. Go on. Go!

J.R.: Go on, Colby, it's fine. Everything is going to be all right, I promise.

Jesse: I don't know if you really believe all that, or are you just trying to make your sister feel better? But it's not going to be all right. J.R., this is not just going to blow over. As a matter of fact, this is about as bad as it gets.

Angie: Did you have any better luck with her than I did?

Tad: No. David showed up. He's got her so screwed up. I don't know what to make of it. Sucked the life right out of her eyes. And everything else I used to love about her.

Angie: I don't understand how anyone could let themselves be so manipulated. I always thought Krystal was stronger than that.

Tad: I did, too.

Angie: And now I don't know. I guess losing Babe just cut too deep.

Tad: Maybe. But I swear, there's something else going on with Krystal, and it's not just David. It can't be.

David: I'm sorry it took me so long to get here.

Krystal: Where have you been?

David: The police station. I just want to make sure that Colby and J.R. didn't get off on some Chandler technicality.

Krystal: Colby didn't mean to hurt me.

David: She could have killed you.

Krystal: If you're so concerned about me, why didn't you call me?

David: I did. Right after you were admitted, several times. You were sleeping. I even had the duty nurse give me an update every half hour since.

Krystal: I called you.

David: I know -- I know. The police made me turn my phone off, but I came as soon as I got the messages.

Krystal: How's Little A?

David: I'm sure he's fine, but right now it's about you. How are you feeling?

Krystal: I'm going to be fine.

David: Good.

Krystal: I'm just really concerned about our grandson.

David: Well, Jesse has assured me that he has been placed with a good family, and that he's doing as well as can be expected.

Krystal: They have him in foster care?

David: Yeah, until this whole custody mess is ironed out.

Krystal: He must be scared to death in a strange place with strange people. Oh, my poor baby. Well, he can't stay there. We have to do something.

Tad: Hey, Mom.

Opal: Oh.

Tad: You ok?

Opal: No, not really. I just haven't been sleeping. Not a wink in days. I'm just jumpier than a skillet full of rattlesnakes. I was hoping maybe the doc could fix me up with something, help me sleep.

Tad: You have been under a lot of stress lately.

Opal: Yeah, I know, but this isn't about the house, or even the money. It's -- it's about Greenlee.

Tad: What about her? Mama, you heard Jake -- they found her. It's a positive ID.

Opal: I know, but it's about her soul. I can feel it. It's cold, it's alone. She needs to be set free.

Jack: Hey.

Ryan: Where do you, um, plan on doing it?

Jack: I thought the beach.

Ryan: Yeah. The beach would be nice. She'd always go to the beach to find some peace of mind. You know, go there, look up at the moon, try to find some answers. Jack, I think maybe that you -- you should do this on your own.

Jack: I just thought, Ryan, you were a huge part of her life. I thought maybe, you'd like --

Ryan: Well, I just think that she would really want her dad to do this. I've already said goodbye to her, you know? So I just hope you understand.

Jack: Yes, I -- I do.

Ryan: I thought I could do this, but I just --

Jack: It's ok. I get it, and I think -- I think that Greenlee would, too.

Kendall: What is this, an intervention?

Zach: Yes. Your mom and I, we got together, and we just want you to break up with Ryan and come home to us and the boys. The boys are fine, by the way. Rachael had an emergency, so I stayed. I have to ask where you stayed, right?

Kendall: Where I stay is no longer any of your business. You filed for divorce, remember?

Zach: It is my business if my -- it is my business if my boys are looking for you, and you were nowhere to be found.

Kendall: All Rachael had to do was pick up the phone and call me. I would have come right home.

Zach: Well, maybe since you went through so much trouble making her stay here, she didn't want to disturb you.

Erica: Look, you two, will you just stop it? Please, stop it. I know you both still love each other, and you know that as well as I do. Are you just going to sit back and watch him walk away from your marriage without putting up a fight?

Kendall: Oh, come on, Mom. You're one to talk. How many marriages have you fought for and lost miserably?

Erica: What's happened to you? What's happened to you, just letting your marriage dissolve like that without putting up a fight? And going to sleep with Ryan?

Kendall: Ok, you know what? Who I sleep with is no more your business than it is his.

Zach: You know, she's right. It's not our business. This marriage is over.

Erica: Do not just let him walk out that door. If you do, he will not come back.

Kendall: Zach, wait -- wait. I -- hell, I -- I don't know what to say.

Zach: Because there's nothing left.

[Door closes]

Erica: I had a long talk with Zach before you got home. I never understood until now why he could walk away. I mean, he had it all. You, the kids, a wonderful life. But instead of enjoying it, he's been waiting all this time for something to take it away.

Kendall: The tornado did that.

Erica: No, you did that when you slept with Ryan.

Kendall: Oh, God. Mom, come on, please. I don't need this from you right now. I've had enough lectures from Zach.

Erica: Ok, how about a little advice? Unless you see yourself marrying Ryan and spending the rest of your life with him, end it now. And try and save the family you have with Zach.

Kendall: Zach's made his decision.

Erica: And you need to make yours. You have put yourself smack in the middle of a terrible mess, and you are going to have to dig yourself out.

Kendall: I love them both. In very, very different ways. And even -- even if there still was an option open, how do I choose? I mean, if I was smart, I would just be alone for awhile.

Erica: You're not meant to be alone. You're not capable of being alone.

Kendall: Oh, thanks.

Erica: Just the truth. Once you put the boys to bed and you are sitting here alone, you know very well you're going to pick up the phone. The question is, who are you going to call?

Zach: Did you get me what I needed?

Francesca: I burned you a copy. The player's over at the bar.

Ryan: I've got a message for Slater. I'm ready to put everything I own on the line and take him down, man to man. Winner takes all.

Aidan: It's a bold move.

Ryan: Yeah? Well, another thing -- the winner is going to be me.

Jack: Opal.

Opal: Oh, oh. Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't -- uh --

Jack: It's ok.

Opal: Is this --

Jack: Yeah.

Opal: Oh, gosh. I should have known. You know, I haven't been sleeping at all the last few nights, not a wink, and I knew it was -- it was something to do with Greenlee. And, well, there it is.

Jack: What are you saying? That it had something to do with Greenlee's ashes?

Opal: Well, her soul hasn't been set free yet, and when it is, then maybe we both can find some rest.

Jesse: There was a warrant out for your arrest, and you got caught trying to sneak your son out of town when supposedly he was out of the country. Yeah, that's going to piss any judge off.

J.R.: Look, I didn't know anything about any kidnapping charges.

Jesse: Right. It was all one big misunderstanding.

J.R.: No, it was Hayward coming after my son, setting my father and me up, playing all of you, I might add.

Jesse: Where is your father? Don't make this any worse, Junior. Where is your father?

J.R.: He's out of state. He's at a hospital. That's what I was doing when I got pulled over. I was taking my son to go visit his sick granddad.

Jesse: Which hospital?

J.R.: Why? So you can arrest him? So you can harass a sick man when you should be nailing the bastard who is responsible for this?

Jesse: Don't do this to yourself.

J.R.: Oh, come on, give it up, Jesse. You know what Hayward's up to. It's my son, for God's sake! Let me out of here! Give me my son!

Jesse: You know I can't do that.

J.R.: It's not that you can't. It's because you won't. You know, I think I'm owed a phone call.

David: So the custody hearing is on Friday, all right? Which means we're going to have to testify, both of us. And we're also going to have to sit there while J.R. tries to tear us apart during his time on the stand. Now, I'll understand if you're not up for this. If you're not strong enough yet --

Krystal: No, no. I have to fight for Babe's son.

David: Good. She's going back down to Radiology for a follow-up MRI.

[Kendall remembers]

Zach: I do love you. I told you that in your apartment, and I told you that on the island. And from where I'm standing right now, it looks like I'm going to love you until the day I die.

Ryan: You're the woman that I love. Kendall, believe in me, in us. If you can do that, there's going to be no stopping us.

Corrina: Hi, Zach.

Zach: Hey. Emma, what are you doing getting so big?

Emma: Uncle Zach!

Zach: Hi! Oh, my goodness, what are you doing here? Why are you not in school today?

Corrina: She's playing hooky with her daddy.

Zach: Where is Ryan?

Corrina: He had to run an errand. He should be back soon. You're welcome to wait.

Zach: Ok. Hey, what are you drawing?

Emma: A butterfly that Daddy wants called "Greenlee."

Zach: I bet you miss her, huh?

Emma: He is sad.

Zach: And that's why you're drawing something, to make him feel better? That's very nice. I like that picture.

[Ryan walks in]

Emma: I made you something.

Ryan: You did? Goodness, let me see -- I love it. It's beautiful. That is extremely beautiful. I've got something for you, too. Look inside the box.

Emma: Mittens! Mittens is back from heaven. Does that mean Greenlee will come back, too?

Angie: Hi, baby.

Jesse: Hey, what's going on?

Angie: Listen, I had a run-in earlier with David. And he told me to send you a message not to get in his way.

Jesse: He's an idiot. Don't worry about that man, ok? I can handle it. He don't scare me.

Angie: No, but maybe he should. Because he's -- he's not going to stop, not until he gets Little A. You know, sweetheart, that little boy -- that poor little thing -- I mean, he has lost his mother. Now he's being torn from his family, put in a foster home. This is all David's fault.

Jesse: With a little help from those dysfunctional Chandlers.

Angie: Who knows what kind of family that little boy is going to end up with?

Jesse: Don't you worry about it. I've found the little kid a perfect place to stay.

Angie: Where?

Jesse: With us.

J.R.: Hey, Dad. How are you feeling? I -- yeah, I went to the safe house. I got Little A. That's why I'm calling. No, we were on our way to the airport. I got pulled over. Dad, listen -- listen to me. Listen to me. I'm in jail. They took Little A into custody. Dad -- Dad, will you please just calm down? Dad? Dad, are you all right? Dad, answer me.

David: Hey, what's going on?

Jay: It's all set. The judge has agreed to meet with you tonight.

David: Excellent. Well done.

Jay: What about Krystal? Is she going to be up for it?

David: Don't worry about Krystal. We're going to be the picture-perfect family.

[Waves crash as Opal holds Greenlee's ashes]

Jack: You know, it was right here -- right here in this place where Greenlee and I finally connected as father and daughter. To say she was reluctant is a bit of an understatement.

Jack's voice: You know, this tough-girl act of yours, it's not working for you. At least it's not working on me.

Greenlee: How can I make you understand that I don't give a damn what you think? You're nothing to me.

Jack: No, actually, I'm your father, whether you like it or not, whether I like it or not. You can be as big a pain in the butt as you want to be about it, but you're not going to chase me away. So you might as well get used to it.

Greenlee: Want to bet? Ow!

Jack: You know what, that's it. You're coming with me. Come on.

Greenlee: Let go of me. Let go.

Jack: My dear, sweet, brave, beautiful girl. I fell in love with you that day. I just hope you can find peace now.

[Jack opens the urn and scatters the ashes]

Erica's voice: Once you put the boys to bed and you are sitting here alone, you know very well you're going to pick up the phone. The question is, who are you going to call?

[Kendall picks up the phone]

Ryan: Yeah, I know. He looks like Mittens, right? But he's not Mittens. This is a brand new guy. Mittens is still in heaven, and so is Greenlee, and that's where they both have to stay.

Emma: Why?

Ryan: Well, I think it's because Greenlee is an angel now, and she needed a little friend, and I thought you needed a friend, too, so I stopped by the shelter, and I got you this little guy.

Corrina: Who's this?

Ryan: You've got to check it out. A new little kitty-cat. Hey, you know what, I bumped into Alanna and her mom in the elevator, and she was freaking out over the kitty-cat. Why don't the three of you go down and play a little bit? Hang out? Does that sound good? Ok, be careful. Ok, sweets. All right. Let me get that for you. Ok, have fun. What the hell are you doing in my house?

Zach: I heard you want to deal with this man to man. I'm here. Let's do this. Right here, right now.
