Angie: Looking for David? He skipped a staff meeting, which never happens. When David goes underground, bad things happen to people I like.
Krystal: You know, I -- I could argue, but why bother? It's a waste of time.
Angie: Yeah. Can't waste time when you and your husband have a child to steal.
[David sneaks into the mansion and pours a drug into J.R.'s glass]
J.R.: Hey, Dad. You probably got my first message. This is just a back up. I want to let you know that Hayward wrangled a judge to order your immediate return of Little Adam. He even got Jesse Hubbard over here to search the place. So, what I'm saying is lay low. Don't show your face in the country. Oh, and give the little guy a kiss for me, tell him that his daddy loves him, and -- what I mean is, thanks.
Kendall: It was Greenlee. Zach, it was awful. The whole thing -- the whole thing was awful.
Zach: Hey, at least you had Ryan.
Reese: Zach?
Zach: Yeah, I'm here.
Reese: What happened? What's wrong?
Zach: Nothing's wrong. The surgery went well, they said.
Reese: So, um, why do you sound sad?
Zach: Sad? No, I -- I sound relieved.
Reese: I don't think so.
Zach: And I don't think you have a talent for reading voices, so I'm glad your eyesight's coming back.
Annie's voice: Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, I don't know who or where I am. I'm totally lost until I close my eyes and picture Aidan's face, and then in a flash it all comes back.
Tori: "I'm Annie, the woman Aidan loves."
Annie: Stop, Tori. This is private.
Tori: I'm sorry, but it makes my heart melt. You're so totally in love with that guy.
Annie: Aidan's more than just a guy. He's my whole life.
Ryan: You saw what, Aidan? What did you see?
Aidan: I saw everything, mate. You and Kendall.
Jack: You know, sometimes I feel her, so close by. I need you to tell me what happened when you and Ryan went to Connecticut.
Ryan: You followed Kendall and me?
Aidan: I was already there when you arrived.
Ryan: So, you -- you just happened to be in exactly the same place at exactly the same time.
Aidan: Greenlee meant a lot to me, Ryan. You didn't think about that. But luckily a cop friend of mine did, and he called me to let me know that they found her.
Ryan: I see. Well, I didn't think that --
Aidan: You didn't think at all, though, did you? Because you, Kendall, and Greenlee have all been part of your little cozy club. I was never part of that, and my guess is neither was Zach.
Kendall: It was Greenlee. The DNA test will confirm it.
Jack: You know, she -- she loved this place, the two of you together.
Kendall: Yeah, we could -- we could destroy something like no other twosome.
[Jack chuckles]
Kendall: We could also create a masterpiece.
Jack: Yes.
Kendall: And that's over now. It's all gone.
Jack: Nope. I don't believe that. I couldn't -- I couldn't believe that and go on. You know, sometimes when the grief lets up, I can hear her whisper in my heart, and I know that you and Ryan are going to be able to hear her, too. You're lucky to have Ryan.
Kendall: I am lucky to have Ryan.
Aidan: I saw you and Kendall come out of the morgue. You were holding each other, looking into each other's eyes. If one of you had broken that stare, you would've seen me plain as day, but nobody did, so I left you two alone.
Ryan: And what did you do next, Aidan?
Aidan: I did what I thought I had to do.
Ryan: Which is what? Why don't you just tell me what it is that you're thinking, all right? Just get it out.
Aidan: Seeing Greenlee like that, Ryan. It landed on me hard. I mean, maybe you and Kendall weren't affected.
Ryan: We were sick for just being there, but we didn't see what you saw.
Aidan: And how does that work?
Ryan: Because Kendall saw an engagement ring in an evidence bag before we lifted the sheet. It was moonstone. It was one of a kind, and I know that because I had it made.
Aidan: So you looked at her ring and that was that?
Ryan: It was Greenlee's, Aidan. No question.
Aidan: Kendall was really lucky for you, wasn't she? In more ways than one.
Ryan: What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Aidan: You didn't see what was left of Greenlee, and Kendall was there to soften the blow.
Tori: Ah, how do you find a special man like Aidan?
Annie: It took me a very long time.
Tori: You are so strong and brave after all the terrible things you've been through.
Annie: Like what terrible things?
Tori: Well, your brother was a sociopath, your parents loved him, not you, your mother committed suicide, because you lied to get Richie under control.
Annie: How do you know all these things?
Tori: The internet. Research is what grad students do instead of dating, if they're me.
Annie: I feel like I'm a case study, all this background information. I think you know more about me than my shrink does.
Tori: A lot of shrinks pretend to care -- for money. Friends really care because they just do. I haven't had a lot of friends. I'd like to be yours, if I can.
Annie: Well, friends are very important and very rare.
Reese: You know that, um, that feeling you have when you wake up from a nightmare and the sun is shining, and you realize that you're ok? I'm just waiting for that feeling, you know? For the sun to shine and for this nightmare to be over, at least the part where I'm blind. Zach? Hey, are you ok?
Zach: Yeah. No, I'm just -- my mind was wandering a little bit. That's all.
Reese: You thinking about Kendall?
Zach: Not just Kendall, no.
Reese: Ok. Did something happen that you'd just rather keep to yourself?
Zach: They found Greenlee just a few miles from where she went in.
Reese: I -- I'm -- I'm so sorry.
Zach: No, I'm sorry. It's not something I should bring up right now. It's -- it's not --
Reese: No, come on. Look, we've been tangled up in each other's messes for a long time now. You can talk to me. I will listen. Zach, I can be your friend.
Zach: Isn't that funny? Sometimes that's all you need, just someone to listen to you.
Reese: I'm sorry you're hurting.
Zach: I'm not hurting. I just need a cocktail, that's all.
Reese: Yeah, me too.
Zach: What about you? You're not dancing on the ceiling either.
Reese: I know. But, no, you're right, but I will be dancing. I'm going to be dancing as soon as these bandages come off, and I can see your face again.
Zach: Yeah?
Reese: You know what? You could dance with me.
Angie: All dancing is strictly prohibited.
Reese: Oh, Dr. Hubbard. Uh, so, um, how do you think --
Angie: Shh, shh, shh.
Reese and Zach: When do you think the bandages are going to come off?
Zach: Maybe that's a question you can answer.
Angie: The bandages will be coming off in 24 hours, and your surgeon is optimistic. But I can't stress to you enough it's important for you to rest.
Zach: Oh, ok. Good-bye for now.
Reese: Hey, hey. Don't -- don't forget the dance, ok?
Zach: I'm not much of a dancer, but I'll improvise.
Reese: Ok.
Angie: Get out of here.
Ryan: So how's it going being back on Slater's payroll? I mean, he's got you watching Kendall and me, right? Guarding his wife again?
Aidan: Zach would have to be barking mad to suspect you and Kendall right now. I mean, with Greenlee not yet in the grave, how cold-hearted would you have to be?
Ryan: Well, he's paying you for something though, isn't he?
Aidan: Security work. That's all I'll say. Why do you care anyway?
Ryan: I'm curious. Shoot me.
Aidan: Strange way to mourn, isn't it -- pushing yourself into someone else's affairs? Or is that really how you deal with your grief?
Zach: What the hell was that?
Tori: You've made me look like a stripper.
[Annie laughs]
Tori: No more.
Annie: Ok, ok, ok. Oh, come on. Just wear it for a little while though, right? What is the worst that could happen? People are going to think you're as crazy as I am?
[Tori and Annie laugh]
David: Hello?
Krystal: Where have you been?
David: Why?
Krystal: Well, you haven't picked up your cell phone in hours.
David: I turned it off for a staff meeting.
Krystal: The staff meeting that you skipped? You know, I can handle you lying to other people, but you have to tell me the truth like you promised. You -- you charged out of Wildwind saying you were going to force Adam to bring back Little A.
David: You don't have to worry about our grandson. Everything is falling into place.
Krystal: Falling into place how? What are you going to do? What have you already done?
Colby: J.R., are you home? J.R.? J.R., are you here? J.R.? J.R.? J.R., wake up -- J.R.
David: Trust me. Little A will soon be back where he belongs. The details don't matter.
Krystal: They do to me.
David: I don't like my every move questioned.
Krystal: If I really come first, there would be no excuse for you to keep secrets.
David: Really? Like the secret you're keeping? Why were you at the Chandler's today?
Krystal: I was trying to get J.R. to see things our way. Little A is safer with us, and he can start pulling himself together.
David: Pulling himself together? You know, if it wasn't so hilarious it would be sad. Did you also tell J.R. that he'd be able to walk on water soon, too?
Krystal: I was just trying to assure him.
David: You've got to be kidding me. You -- your heart bleeds for the worthless drunk who almost killed Little A, but you don't have an ounce of trust for the husband who signed a baby away for you, Krystal. I did that for you.
Krystal: You know, yes, you can make me feel safe when you want to, but maybe I'm being a fool. You know, maybe you are working me just like you are working everybody else.
David: I gave a baby away for you, Krystal. What more do you want from me? You wouldn't have done that in a million years.
Krystal: I gave up primary custody of Jenny.
David: No, no, no. No, you gave up nothing. Tad beat you in court. Not my fault. I keep urging you to keep hoping, ok, promising that I would take Jenny into our home some day, and what have you promised me in return? To love me? I'm starting to wonder how much that love is really worth.
Krystal: You know, that -- that is the coldest thing that you have said to me since -- since we got married.
David: No. Cold -- cold is forcing your beloved husband to turn his back on his baby-to-be. I would've opened my arms up for Jenny, Krystal, because she belongs to you, whereas you turn your back on my child, because I fathered it with someone else.
Krystal: You said you didn't want that child. You said you had no investment, and now you are turning around and telling me that you've already changed your mind?
David: Let's talk about what this is really about, shall we? If you don't trust my motives, if you're not on my side, well, then maybe we need to figure out what's really going on with this marriage.
Aidan: Actually, um, I went up to the morgue to ID Greenlee's body, and Ryan wasn't happy about it. I mean, even in death Greenlee has to be all his.
Zach: Ok. I'm paying you to report to me, not to tell Ryan about your day trips.
Aidan: I hadn't planned on telling anyone. It's not his business or yours.
Zach: Fine. So, trip to the morgue, two trips to the morgue, whatever. Anything else I should know about? This would be a good time to tell me.
Aidan: Nothing to report right now.
Zach: Stay on it.
Jack: Oh, I remember this day, all of us at the wedding.
Kendall: Mm-hmm. That was a perfect day.
Jack: Yeah, it was.
Kendall: On so many levels, it was.
Jack: Greenlee and I were never closer.
Kendall: You finally got each other.
Jack: Yeah, I think we finally did. It certainly took long enough.
Kendall: Families can feel like forever. You forget they're as fleeting as everything else.
Jack: Some things last. Ryan, I'm glad you're here. I -- I would've called, but I wasn't sure of my reception.
Ryan: Right. Yeah, I wasn't exactly welcoming the last few times you came by.
Jack: It's forgotten.
Ryan: No, you deserve a lot better, Jack.
Jack: Put it out of your mind. I have. I need to thank the two of you.
Ryan: For -- for what?
Jack: For Connecticut, for going to that morgue. Jesse -- Jesse called me, but I -- I couldn't face it.
Jack: I have something for you.
Ryan: What -- what is this?
Jack: Open it.
Ryan: "To Ryan, love Greenlee -- in the event of my death.
Ryan: How -- When --
Jack: Greenlee had a safety deposit box. There wasn't much in it, you know. Some jewelry, a deed to the apartment I gave her, and two DVDs, one for me, one for you.
Ryan: So you -- you've watched it.
Jack: Over and over. I can't hardly stop. I mean mine, not -- not yours.
Kendall: Jack, don't go home. Why don't you -- why don't you come have dinner with me? You can come play with the boys.
Jack: That's very kind. I think -- I think I want to be alone. The two of you, that's what Greenlee wanted. The two of you together.
Ryan: I'm -- I'm sorry, I -- what do you mean?
Jack: Fusion, of course. I'm talking about Fusion, her baby. Now it's in your hands, and yours. The two people she absolutely adored, and she understood.
Kendall: Understood and loved us in spite of who we were.
Jack: I think you loved her in the very same way. I got to go.
Kendall: Um, Jack, you can call whenever you want to. It doesn't matter -- it doesn't matter what time.
Ryan: Kendall. My God, what have we done?
Angie: If you're checking up on Reese, she's sound asleep.
Zach: That's good.
Angie: Do you know you've put more hours in at this hospital than anyone not on staff? Now I want you to go home and get some rest. Go.
Zach: Mm-hmm.
[Zach recalls the past]
Zach: You're not leaving. You're not going to Toronto or anywhere else. You're going to stay right here. The boys need you. I need you. I love you. I'm waiting for you.
Annie: Say hello to Ms. America.
Tori: 1963! I'll never be able to comb this out.
Annie: It's fabulous. All right, fine. I'll get a better brush from my room. Don't go anywhere. Be right back. Hi!
Aidan: Hey.
Annie: Hi, you're just in time.
Aidan: Why, what's happening?
Annie: I have made a new friend. She's really nice. I want you to meet her. Oh, don't mention anything about her hair. Come on. Tori? Tori? That's weird. She was just here. Where could she have gone?
Aidan: Annie, who's Tori? And what have you told her about yourself?
David: You're still here. Well, I'm surprised.
Krystal: I don't want a divorce.
David: I don't see any alternatives, Krystal. You don't trust my motives. You don't believe a word I say. There's no reason for you to stay with me.
Krystal: We have to learn how to argue without playing the divorce card. Married people argue.
David: Yeah, well, maybe marriage isn't for me, you know? Go back to Tad. He's so domesticated, you can walk him on a leash.
Krystal: That's not what I want.
David: No, I mean, come on. The Martins, they may be dull. But, you know, they're solid. Boy scouts, all of them. You could spend every night of the week by the fire roasting marshmallows. No fire in the bedroom, but, hey, nothing's perfect, right? Plus the Martins are pretty damn close.
Krystal: All right, just --
Angie: An ambulance just brought in J.R.
Colby: Stay away from my brother. Get him out of here now.
David: Don't be ridiculous.
Angie: You have personal issues with this patient. Don't ask for a malpractice suit.
Krystal: What's the matter with him?
David: I'm guessing alcohol poisoning? You're going to want to sit by his bedside? What?
Krystal: When everybody went to that staff meeting, you went to the Chandler estate.
David: I'm not talking about this again.
Krystal: You did. I know it. I can feel it. I want you to look me in the eye and tell me that I'm wrong.
Angie: Order a tox screen, ASAP.
Krystal: You did something to J.R.
David: J.R. is free to be an unfit parent in the country of his choice. Drunken father, well-paid servants, neglected little boy? Decades could go by. Years from now we could be walking down the street, walk past some young man and feel a connection, and left wondering, was that our grandson we just walked by? Little Adam could grow up in a foreign country with a foreign name, become a complete stranger to us, Krystal. Maybe you can accept that, live with it, and go on. But I refuse to. You need to know something about me. I do what is necessary to take control.
Krystal: So you poison J.R., you try to kill him?
David: No, no, J.R. is not going to die, all right? He's just not going to jump on any airplanes any time soon. And Adam will be summoned. He'll come back from Hong Kong or Rio or wherever he took Little A, and we will have our day in court. You know something? I have patients to tend to, and you need to figure out what you are willing to do for our grandson.
Ryan: Straight from the morgue right into bed together. Who does that? Who are we?
Kendall: Wait, Ryan. We were hurting, ok? We just wanted it to stop for a little while.
Ryan: That was a really beautiful tribute that we gave Greenlee, wasn't it?
Kendall: Greenlee would understand.
Ryan: Do you honestly think that? Do you really believe that?
Kendall: Ryan, come on. It's not like we picked up strangers. You and I are family. We share a child. We both loved Greenlee dearly. We'll both be grieving for a very long time.
Ryan: Oh, hell, yeah. I mean, grieving can be fun, right?
Kendall: Ryan, we wanted comfort, ok? We were reaching out. What are you doing? What are you doing?
Ryan: I can't even look at her. I can't even look at her. It's like -- it's like we spat on her. It's like we cheapened her memory or something.
Kendall: No, we did no such thing.
Ryan: Well, then, what did we do, Kendall? Tell me what it was to you because -- I mean, you want to keep doing it on Greenlee's desk right now? What?
Kendall: Stop, stop, stop. Ok, please, just stop it. You want to beat yourself up? Fine, go ahead. My best friend is gone, ok? She's gone. My heart is breaking. I'm hurting enough. I don't need this.
Aidan: Is Tori's room near yours?
Annie: Uh, Tori doesn't have a room. She's a volunteer, not a patient.
Aidan: So what do you guys talk about?
Annie: Um, hair, makeup, love. She tells me how strong I am, how brave. She's really smart. She's a Psych major, trying to get her PhD.
Aidan: Has she asked you about anything in particular?
Annie: Just how to get a man.
Aidan: Annie, I'm serious. Has she asked you about Richie, about how he died?
Annie: Um, no, hasn't come up.
Aidan: Good. Listen, maybe this -- this Tori girl is completely innocent, but maybe she's not. Maybe she's trying to trap you like Sinclair did.
Annie: I don't think it's like that at all.
Aidan: Annie, just don't -- don't tell her anything that she doesn't already know about.
Annie: Why are you saying all these things? You're starting to scare me.
Aidan: I don't mean to scare you, I just -- I need you to be cautious, that's all.
Annie: Do you think I'm ever going to get out of here?
Aidan: Hey, we're going to have a life together. I'm going to get you out. The plans are already in the works, I swear. Just trust me.
Greenlee: Stupid cameras, I hate these things! Ugh! Wait a minute. Ok, wait -- the red light means it's working right? Ok, I think it's on. I think it's on. I'm going to sit down right here. Ok, all right, let me see. Let's see. What do you think? Is this good? Hi. Hi, Ryan. I forgot to check my hair. Um, please forgive the bad lighting and the camera's probably so close you can see my nose hairs, but, ok. The reason I'm making this is because of Opal's visions and my nightmares, and I know you're going to say that it's stupid. You can tell me that. Although it may not be so stupid after all if you're watching this. Um, ok. It's the day before we're headed to Connecticut for our wedding, and I am so excited. I know that we are going to walk down that aisle straight into wedded bliss, and this DVD will sit unwatched in my safety deposit box. But on the off chance that that does not happen, and something does happen to me, I just need you to know how much I love you, Ryan. Or loved. And I never want that to be a bad thing, ever. So, um, what I mean is... Wow, this is harder than I thought, but I'm going to get through it. I want you to be happy, Ryan, with or without me. It's true, and I want that for you, to love and to be loved and have someone next to you like I do. Like I said, you know, I hope you're never watching this because I feel like a complete dork making it. But if you do, I love you. Be happy. Very happy. Ok, bye. [Squealing] Stupid cameras. Ok, wait, wait, where's the stop button. I think it's right here. Ok.
Zach: Roar, roar, says the dinosaur. Dinosaur versus pile of leaves.
[All roaring]
Zach: Dinosaur wins.
Rachael: Bedtime for Ian and Spike.
Zach: Oh, give your daddy a kiss. And now -- you guys are getting too heavy for me. Give your mom a kiss. Come here, you've got to help me. Ahh.
Kendall: Good night, baby.
Zach: Time for me to get to the gym, huh?
Kendall: Love you.
Zach: All right.
Kendall: Love you, love you.
[Ian and Spike crying]
Rachael: It's ok. Night-night, sweetie.
Zach: Hey.
Kendall: Hey.
Zach: You look tired.
Kendall: Yeah. You, too. You want some wine?
Zach: I'd like that.
Ian: Daddy?
Kendall: I'll go.
Zach and Kendall: I'll go.
Zach: Just relax. I'll be back.
Angie: Get an NG tube and some saline irrigation. And I'll need some activated charcoal to follow.
Colby: Please tell me he's going to be ok.
Angie: He will, once we get the poison out of his system. Fortunately he didn't ingest a lethal amount.
Colby: He could have died?
Angie: Poison, Krystal, poison. You know who's responsible for this. No, I swear, if you don't open your eyes and snap out of your oblivion -- your husband is a dangerous man.
Colby: David poisoned my brother?
Krystal: No, no. Colby, Colby, stop.
Angie: Why don't you just let her go, Krystal? There is not a thing you can say.
Colby: J.R.'s in the hospital, Dad. David poisoned him. But he's going to be ok. Dad, when you get this, you've got to come home. Who knows what David's going to do next?
Annie: Hey, I wanted you to meet Aidan.
Tori: He's extremely cute, but I couldn't meet him with this hair.
Annie: That is ridiculous. Well, he already left, but he'll be back tomorrow.
Tori: Hopefully, anyway.
Annie: No, Aidan always sticks to his promises.
Tori: They always do until they don't.
Annie: Who's they?
Tori: The men you count on. Like Ryan -- he was great and then he wasn't. Se la vie.
Annie: Ryan is nothing like Aidan.
Tori: Yet.
Annie: You know what? I don't really want to have this conversation.
Tori: I'm just saying --
Annie: I know exactly what you're saying. Aidan was right. You know what? You're bad news.
Tori: But, wait, you have to fix my hair.
Annie: Fix your own hair. Aidan is not going to let you down. Aidan is your life.
Zach: Oh, what do you want? Do you want your bear? Sleepy, too, isn't he? All right, Mr. Bear, here we go.
[Doorbell rings]
[Ian chattering]
Kendall: Ryan, I'm sorry. This is not really a good time.
Ryan: I'm sorry. Kendall, I was crazy. I was mean. I was wrong. I -- can you forgive me?
Kendall: I'm a little busy right now.
Ryan: You were right, Kendall, you were right. Who else do we have but each other?
Kendall: Ryan, I don't think this is a good time for us --
[Ryan kisses Kendall while Zach watches]
