Ryan: So what is it? What is it that Zach's not telling us? I want an answer, Kendall.
Kendall: Oh, ok. Well, the two of you were all worked up and I -- I'm sure I just -- I'm sure I just misunderstood, so it -- it's nothing.
Ryan: Oh. All right, so what did you think that we were all worked up about?
Kendall: I don't know -- maybe the play-offs. I don't know, Zach beat -- his team beat your team, I don't know.
Ryan: He told you to go ahead. There's obviously something.
Kendall: Ok. Ryan, why don't I walk back in, and we'll start over, ok?
Ryan: No, you stay, and you tell me.
Kendall: Ryan, it doesn't matter.
Ryan: You know what -- you're awfully quiet. So, what is this? What the hell aren't you telling me this time?
Bianca: How did it go at the police station when Zarf was questioned?
Di: Well, Derek had him in there long enough, but then he let him go.
Aidan: You want to have a private poll if we think Zarf's the killer?
Bianca: I just want to know what he is.
Di: Well, just pick up a copy of "American Rock Star Weekly."
Bianca: I don't want the glossy version. You're a detective. What do you think?
Aidan: Of Zarf's real story? I don't have a clue.
Bianca: Does the dress mean anything to you?
Aidan: He's a major rock star. I mean, you know, they're supposed to do stuff like that, aren't they?
Bianca: Oh, I don't get it. I don't get him. I just -- I don't understand. I want to know the truth --
Di: Hey, Bianca --
Bianca: But I don't know how --
Di: What? Did Zarf do something to you?
[In his Valley Inn room, Zarf remembers]
Zoe's voice: Please see me, Bianca -- who I truly am. I am Zoe. I am a woman. I knew I could share myself with you. Please tell me I wasn't wrong. You see who I really am.
[Bianca slaps Zoe]
Bianca: Yeah. I do.
Bianca's voice: You need me to love you. I can't love you. I don't want to love you. You're a phony, a fake.
Babe: You followed me!
Josh: I came here to see Dani.
Babe: Oh, and just happened to show up at the exact moment I did? Mm-hmm.
Josh: You know, sometimes a coincidence is just a coincidence.
Babe: Great -- coincidence over. I'll be sure to tell Dani you said hi.
Josh: I want to see her with my own eyes.
Babe: There are two cops sitting on this house. I have my own personal bodyguard. I'm fine.
Josh: And if one more guy is on your trail preventing a serial killer from killing Fusion woman number three, be happy I'm here.
Babe: It has been weeks since the last attack. I don't need you stalking me. I'm safe. Please go.
[Danielle lies on the floor with gardenias and white ribbons adorning her lifeless body]
Babe: Bad enough you follow me to Zarf's.
Josh: I didn't follow you, and you know, it was a good thing I was there.
Babe: It was under control.
Josh: I'm here to protect you. Live with it.
Babe: Officers?
Hank: There a problem here?
Babe: Ahem. This man is stalking me. Could you please ask him to leave?
Josh: I'm just here to see a friend. And with a serial killer on the loose, I’m sure you’d agree – there’s nothing wrong with a little extra protection.
George: I have Mrs. C covered.
Babe: Can’t you Taser him or something?
Lance: I’m sorry, ma’am. He’s not breaking any laws.
Babe: Thank you. I don't need this.
Josh: You don't know what you need.
Babe: I don't need you.
Josh: Yeah, you do.
Bianca: No. It -- Zarf didn't do anything to me.
Di: Ok. Well, whatever Zarf didn’t do, you’re upset.
Aidan: Are you sure? He didn’t scare you, threaten you?
Bianca: No. He -- he just confused me.
Di: Oh, yeah? Well, a guy in a dress can do that.
Bianca: Did he say anything at the police station? Like about why he's here or what -- what he was doing?
Aidan: All he gave them was a good show and nothing incriminating. That's why he walked.
Di: Oh. I mean, I've seen my fair share of weird, but Zarf -- he tops the charts.
Bianca: But this whole rock-star drag, the performance that he gave --
Di: Yeah.
Bianca: Did you buy it?
Di: I don't know, Bianca, but he sure tried to sell it.
Aidan: And he was afraid of something, too.
Bianca: He was afraid? What was he afraid of?
Zoe: Aren't we all afraid of something? If you have any questions about me, Bianca, ask me.
Ryan: You're both sitting on something here. You are -- I mean, this is what you do now, this is how you protect your husband? You keep his secrets for him, Kendall? If Zach spoke up earlier, my sister might be alive.
Kendall: Ok, Ryan, that's not fair.
Ryan: Erin dead isn't fair, either, Kendall. If Zach knows something that could save a life, you can’t protect him.
Kendall: I’m not, ok? There is no secret about the killer. Ok, all right. I was afraid that Zach was going to tell you about a decision that I've made.
Zoe: I survived the police interrogation. I'm sure I can survive yours. Nothing? Well, I have one for you -- huh, stilettos. Mm-hmm. I don't know how you girls do it. My feet are killing me, but it was worth it. Yeah. Those boys down at the station got a kick out of me.
Di: Yeah, I'm sure it was a first for them.
Zoe: For all of us. Didn't they tell you? I was a sensation. They didn't know whether to ask me out or to steal my dress. Any of those questions come to mind?
Aidan: Oh, I have one. Why are you here?
Zoe: Can't a man return to the scene of his non-crime?
Aidan: Just answer the question.
Zoe: Oh, why do you think, Mr. Bond? To commit murder, steal makeup? Or to sit around the water cooler and gossip?
Officer: Mr. Zarf?
Zoe: I love how you say that.
Officer: Sir, we need to escort you to the station.
Zoe: Am I under arrest?
Officer: Just questioning.
Zoe: As tempting as that invite sounds, tell Chief Frye to contact my attorney, Ron Traub. Oh, you know him -- the best criminal lawyer on the East Coast? My attorney has advised me not to answer any questions unless he is present, which he isn't. Say hello to the chief.
Aidan: One more time, Zarf -- why are you here?
Zoe: Work. We have a campaign to get out. Isn't that right, Bianca?
Bianca: Would you two mind leaving us alone?
George: You want me to escort the gentleman to his car?
Babe: I'll deal.
George: If you need me --
Josh: You know, that guy has a serious attitude problem.
Babe: Hmm. He's not the only one.
[Knock on door]
Josh: Dani?
Babe: I called right before I came. She said she'd be waiting.
Colby: This is totally not fair.
Sean: Beyond.
Colby: I want to go home.
Sean: Well, it’s about time you got here. I thought maybe you were going to ditch us.
Jack: You know, I thought maybe I was.
Krystal: You hanging in there?
Colby: Dad, how could you not bail me out? Just promise me, as soon as this old fogey drops the charges, you’re going to take me home?
Adam: Going home may not be an option.
Colby: It has to be. No way I am going back in that cage.
Sean: Yeah, or eating that food.
Colby: This is a joke, right? Scared straight, blah, blah, blah?
Adam: I'm sorry, sweetheart. I've given it my best effort. The DA refuses to drop charges.
Colby: Oh. Then go to the top -- the judge. Use your influence.
Adam: This judge can't be influenced.
Sean: Look, it's not as if we did so bad. We're kids.
Jack: You're kids in trouble. Now, listen to me, both of you. You could very easily be found guilty and sentenced for this.
Colby: To prison?
Jack: Yes. So your best bet today is to plead guilty, apologize and mean it, and throw yourself on the mercy of the court.
Colby: Oh. Oh, we're not criminals.
Sean: Look, all we did was take a limo ride and drink a little champagne.
Colby: Daddy, you have to do something.
Adam: I'm sorry, Colby. It's out of my hands.
Bailiff: All rise! The Honorable Judge Walsh now presiding.
Ryan: Yeah, I'll be home soon to feed the Spike man, ok? Yeah. Um -- give him a kiss from his dad, all right? And from his mom. Ok. So what is it? What's this decision that you've made?
Kendall: Um -- uh, it -- it's about Spike -- and you and me. I -- I wanted to apologize for going off on you about keeping Spike. I shouldn't have done that. I know that -- that you don't want him in danger and neither do I, and that means keeping him far away from me. So, I am onboard with your plans to keep him. No snarking, no complaining. But what I didn't want Zach to tell you and what I wanted to tell you myself was -- was that I -- I want to visit Spike, and not just once in a while, Ryan.
Ryan: I don't think that's a very good idea.
Kendall: Ryan, I'll come to the penthouse, we can up my security -- the same as yours. What, you have to think about it?
Ryan: It's just that we're talking about my son, Kendall. I want to make sure we do this the right way.
Kendall: What, put it to a vote? You're telling me that Annie gets to say Yay or Nay whether I see my child?
Ryan: Kendall, come on. I'm not trying to hurt you here. Annie's got nothing to do with this. I want to protect my son, and I think the least contact that he's got with you, you know, the better it is.
Kendall: No, not an option, Ryan.
Ryan: I'm not saying no, Kendall, but I lost my sister, and I don't want to lose you or my son.
Kendall: Ok, Ryan -- Ryan. What? You're mad because I couldn't tell Ryan that Emma's his daughter? Ok. I wouldn't. I won't. Go ahead, say it. Tell me you think I'm wrong.
Zach: I think you're wrong.
Di: You and Zarf alone? Not a good idea -- no offense.
Zoe: None taken.
Bianca: Look, just -- look, Carl is here. I'm fine. Please go.
Aidan: You behave yourself.
Zoe: No worries. No more diva showstoppers, at least not until happy hour.
Aidan: Let's go. Don't even blink.
Di: So, I mean, you really think it's a good idea to leave Bianca alone with that wacko rocker guy?
Aidan: Carl is the best in the business. If Zarf tries anything, he'll make him into a hamburger.
Di: Ok, that's reassuring.
Aidan: Anyway, it gives me a chance to do some legwork anyway.
Di: Well, what kind of legwork -- like catch the serial killer kind of legwork?
Aidan: I'll drop you home.
Di: Uh-uh, no, no, no. You're not dropping me anywhere. I want in on this. Don't you even try and say no.
Bianca: Josh told me about the night that he and Babe stayed in your hotel suite in Philadelphia. The phone rang, he picked it up. It was a transgender hotline. Was I wrong? Are you transgender? The things that I said to you -- if I was wrong, just please tell me. I want to make it right.
Zoe: Guilt pangs because you rejected the transgender person? Hmm. Major PC no-no. And the sinner is a member of the same anti-defamation league. Extra demerit points for you.
Bianca: Just tell me.
Zoe: Now you want redemption.
Bianca: No, I -- no, I want the truth. Was I wrong? I mean, what was the hotline call about? Are you transgender? Is Zoe real?
Josh: She's not answering the door.
Babe: Dani? Are you in there? Can you hear me?
Josh: When's the last time you talked to her?
Hank: 20 minutes, give or take.
Babe: Oh. It's voicemail. Dani, please!
Josh: All right, if you don't break that door down, I will.
Babe: Open up!
Ryan: I pushed Slater for more info on the murders. I got nothing.
[Phone rings]
Ryan: He didn't give.
Derek: Frye. Yeah, what do you got? Damn. Thanks. Zarf's at Fusion.
Ryan: They bringing him in?
Derek: He's lawyered up. Can't touch him, not until we get something that sticks.
Babe: Dani! Oh, my God, no. Dani? We have to do something -- call someone.
Josh: Dani, come on.
Judge: Theft of services, attempted theft of services, underage consumption of alcoholic beverages, presenting a false ID. You two had a busy night. It might have seemed like fun and games, but you broke the law. These are very serious charges. People could've been hurt, property could've been damaged. You might be juveniles in the eyes of the law, but you're old enough to be held accountable. There are consequences to your actions. How you respond to those consequences is up to you. You can learn from this, make the right choices, or you can continue with the fun and games. Do either of you have anything to say for yourselves?
Sean: Your Honor, it was a big mistake. Ok? We definitely took the wrong limo. I mean, dude, if I had known it belonged to a county supervisor, I would've -- my bad.
Colby: I messed up, too, Your Honor. We never should have given the police our fake IDs. How stupid was that? And just so you know, we didn't drink that much champagne.
Adam: Good Lord.
Judge: Very eye-opening -- no guilt, no apologies. Just so you're clear about what your futures could be, Mr. Montgomery, because this is your first offense, you're facing probation, possibly community service. However, because you did instigate this incident, prison is a very real possibility. Miss Chandler, you're on a first-name basis with several of our officers. Given your prior record, you could spend three and a half to seven years in prison. This is a good time for a recess. I suggest that you think long and hard about how you'd like to spend the next three and a half to seven years.
Bailiff: All rise!
[Di and Aidan let themselves into Zoe’s hotel room]
Di: B and E. With my rap sheet, promise me that we won't get caught.
Aidan: A bit more chance of not getting caught if you shut the door.
Di: Oh, yeah. I'm sorry.
Aidan: You can take off if you want.
Di: No way, and miss my chance of playing detective? Uh-uh.
Aidan: Hey, hey, wait, wait. No, use this.
Di: Oh, you brought two pair. You came prepared.
Aidan: As if I could say no to you. Let's see what we can find, shall we?
Zoe: Zoe is as real as I want her to be.
Bianca: What is that supposed to mean?
Zoe: I am an artist, Bianca. I'm always looking for inspiration, in places that people often wouldn't, and then one day it hit me -- the transgender community. Oh, God, the conflict, the pain -- men trapped in women's bodies, women in men. Rich stuff.
Bianca: So you wanted to write a song about the transgender experience?
Zoe: I'm an original -- that's why I'm a star. And I do my research, ergo the transgender hotline. I wanted to find out what made those people tick.
Bianca: "Those people"?
Zoe: That hotline -- gold mine. It was fabulous. Now you see why Zoe was just perfect.
Bianca: And I was a part of your research?
Zoe: Crucial. If Zoe wasn't just a woman in a man's body, but also a lesbian, I needed to see how a lesbian would react. The slap -- so true, so real. From the gut. Just what I was looking for -- ha -- and I got it. And now I'm done and on to the next inspiration. Don't let this go to waste. Precious liquor.
Bianca: Oh, God, would you stop? Tell me the truth. Why are you here? What are you doing? Are you Zoe or Zarf?
Hank: We need an ambulance at 365 East Maple Boulevard. And backup. And bring a canine unit.
Babe: Josh, is she --
Josh: She's not responding.
Babe: Ok, look, look, I can help. I am trained. What do I -- it's -- I breathe on 30, right?
Josh: Two breaths. 28, 29, 30.
Kendall: Petty, jealous Kendall? Is that what you think? That's why I didn't tell Ryan about Emma? Well, there is a big picture, Zach, and that picture is Spike.
Zach: You don't have to explain yourself to me.
Kendall: Yes, I do. I can see it in your eyes. I -- I -- you think that I'm doing this to hang on to Ryan.
Zach: I didn't say that.
Kendall: Well, I love you -- not Ryan. I don't want Ryan. I want you. I'm happy with you. I have never been so flippin' happy in my whole life.
Zach: I know. I can see that.
Lt. Perry: Chief? A call just came in for backup. It's your address.
Josh: I got a pulse.
Babe: Oh, thank God.
Josh: She's breathing on her own.
Babe: Oh, Dani. Hey.
EMT: What happened?
Josh: I'm a doctor. She's non-responsive. I just got a pulse. Hook her up, see what kind of rhythm we got. Pinpoint pupils. Odds are she was poisoned by some anti-cholinergic substance. Rhythm?
EMT: She's got multiple PVCs.
Josh: She's in trigeminy. Lidocaine, stat.
Zach: What's happening?
Kendall: What is it?
Ryan: It's Danielle.
Josh: A gram of a Lidocaine and a liter of D-5. Try to keep her in sinus rhythm on the way in. Officer, come over here. She drank from this.
Hank: All right. I'll take it for evidence.
Josh: Babe, no, don't.
[Josh comforts Babe with a hug]
Zoe: I can't be Zoe. She's gone. I killed her.
Bianca: That's not funny. Not with my friends dead.
Zoe: It was not intended to be. I gave Zoe life. I took it away.
Bianca: Was that her destiny?
Zoe: I don't create characters for my music, I become them. I want to know everything, feel everything, live their lives. Zoe -- she was special. So hopeful. So determined to be loved for herself. Who doesn't want that? And the transgender angle was just another part of the tragedy. Being born in the wrong body, living a lie, being rejected. I felt her. I lived in Zoe's skin. In her gender, in her soul, in her hope. Her pain. At least for a little while.
Bianca: And this character -- how would she have felt if I had responded differently?
Zoe: We'll never know, will we? She's gone. She's out. I felt her die. That moment when the struggle is over, the noise fades away, the pain is gone -- peace at last. I'm going to get a ton of songs out of this.
Bianca: Oh, my God. You are unbelievable.
Zoe: That's what they tell me. Bianca, I owe you an apology. I did a real number on you on New Year's Eve. But I want you to know that it wasn't all an act. What I felt for you was real, Bianca. I did fall for you.
Joe: Need some cricoid pressure. Yeah. Order a CBC and a pack 6. Yeah. Got it. And get hold of the lab. I want a tox screen, STAT. Yeah. Yeah, I -- ok, let's get her on the ventilator.
Derek: Danielle?
Joe: Yes.
Babe: She's going to be all right, isn't she? We got to her in time. Please tell me that we did.
Josh: I wish I could say for sure.
Ryan: What happened?
Babe: Dani, she --
Ryan: I know it's Dani. What --
Kendall: Wait a minute, what?
Ryan: How -- what happened?
Kendall: Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
Josh: We showed up at Derek's --
Babe: He got to her. The killer got to her. Their doors locked, guards outside -- he still got to her. He could get to any one of us anytime, anywhere.
Zoe: Almost at cruising altitude! Nothing to say? How unlike you.
Bianca: So that's it? Zoe was an act?
Zoe: Fade to black. The reviews are in. You didn't like it.
Bianca: I don't like being lied to and manipulated.
Zoe: I told you what you wanted to hear.
Bianca: Is it the truth?
Zoe: Do you want it to be?
Bianca: That's it. Oh, my God, I'm done with this. And you and your -- your truth -- whatever that means. You're off the campaign. So take your song and get your stuff and get the hell out of here.
Aidan: Nothing over here. How about you?
Di: Aidan, I think I've got something.
Sean: Uncle Jack, can they really send us to prison?
Jack: Yes, Sean, they really can. Now, because you don't have any priors, you're probably looking at probation.
Sean: No, look, there's -- there's no way I'm letting Colby go it alone. Ok? This was my idea. Grab the limo, pop the cork. It was all me. If Colby goes down, so do I.
Colby: There has to be something you can do, Daddy. All we did was have some fun.
Krystal: You broke the law, Colby.
Colby: Just a little bit.
Krystal: I've been there. Prison.
Colby: I don't want to know about prison.
Krystal: Well, I think you might be about to find out the hard way. They tell you what to wear, when to eat, when to sleep, when to wake up. You see the sun about one hour a day. You have to clean toilets and do laundry and scrub floors. And then they wake you up every night for roll call, every night. The lights never go out, the noise never stops. And if you're lucky, you find a way to get through that day and the day after that without falling apart. No freedom, and no Daddy to help you out.
Joe: Danielle has suffered serious cardiac complications.
Josh: Because of the V-tach?
Joe: We're running a tox screen to find that out for sure. Meanwhile, we're trying to control the arrhythmia and regulate it until the drug wears off -- if that is the cause.
Babe: And when will that be?
Joe: Too soon to say.
Kendall: But she'll make it, right?
Joe: We're doing everything we can.
Kendall: Zach --
Ryan: What? Where are you going now? You going to go actually do something? Or are you going to wait around until somebody else goes down?
Kendall: Ryan, leave him alone.
Ryan: No, I'm serious, Kendall. You get the answers. You find this guy before your wife ends up in that room.
Kendall: Ryan -- Ryan, stop it. I mean it.
Zach: No, he's right. I brought this on us.
Kendall: No, you didn't. Some crazy, sick person did this, not you.
Derek: How the hell did this happen? What the hell were Hank and Lance doing?
Lt. Perry: No, they were at their posts. They made contact with Danielle about 20 minutes before --
Derek: They let this worm get to her. And get away. And my daughter could -- I want our best men on her, you hear me? They don't move, they don't sneeze, they don't look away.
Zach: Stay with Kendall.
Kendall: Zach, wait for me. Zach, wait, wait --
Ryan: Hold, hold, hold, hold -- you heard him. You heard him, Kendall. He said stay put.
Kendall: Why, why? Why, because it's safe here? Because I'm protected? I don't understand what's going on, Ryan. This is wrong. Where -- where are the police? Where is Tad? Why can't someone just help us and just catch this maniac? I don't understand what's going on. When is this going to stop, Ryan? When is this going to stop?
Ryan: Ok, ok, ok --
Kendall: Please, Ryan, when is it going to stop? Make it stop, please.
Ryan: Shh.
Babe: George, you can take off. Why don't you go home and be with your kids?
George: My shift's not over for another two hours, Mrs. C.
Babe: It's two hours and 30 minutes, actually, but none of it really matters anymore.
Josh: Come on, let's sit back down.
Babe: Why? Why? We've got the bodyguards, we've got cops, round-the-clock security wherever we go, even in our home, and it's not enough. We've got, let's see, guns, uniforms, best of the best, and it's ill not enough, because that psycho can take down any of us anytime that he wants. Dani today, me, Kendall, Bianca tomorrow -- it doesn't matter -- or the day after that. Nothing matters. Anything that we do is not going to stop him. If he wants to get to us, he can.
Josh: Listen to me. You listen to me right now. I understand. This is horrible, it's scary, and none of it should have happened. But you can't give up. You can't let this bastard win. You need to fight back.
Judge: Do the defendants have anything else to say?
Jack: Yes, Your Honor, I believe they do.
Colby: I knew what we were doing was illegal, but I didn't care, because I didn't think about other people and what could happen. It was stupid and wrong, Your Honor. And I don't want to be that person. If I could have a second chance, I will never do anything like that again. I'll even plead guilty -- whatever you want. Please, don't send me to prison.
Sean: I was just living the moment, trying to be cool, Your Honor. Big mistake. I -- I know what's right and what's wrong. I just ignored it. I -- I was an idiot. And I'm sorry. There's no way I ever want to be in here again.
Judge: It's not enough to be sorry. The words are easy. It's what you do that's important. Making the effort to do the right thing, to stay out of trouble, make the most of a second chance -- if it is given. Anything else, counselor?
Jack: No, Your Honor, I don't believe so.
Judge: I'm ready to pronounce sentence.
Aidan: Looks like the makeup kit Zarf uses to dress up like a woman. "Swinger" -- huh, no kidding.
Di: Aidan, keep looking. There's more than foundations and lipstick in there.
Aidan: Bingo.
Zoe: Here it is. I'm packed.
Bianca: That's it?
Zoe: I travel light.
Bianca: We will honor your "pay or play" clause.
Zoe: I'm not going to pull the song from the campaign. It's yours. Fusion's.
Bianca: You don't have to do that.
Zoe: No, no, I want to. Bianca, I won't bother you again.
Bianca: Stay away from Babe, too.
Babe: You're right. Now is not the time to cave. I'm not going to let some killer terrorize our lives. I'm going to fight back, hard.
Josh: You're not alone.
[Monitor alarm]
Babe: Oh, my God -- Dani.
Kendall: Oh, my God, Dani --
Josh: She's in trouble.
Zoe: There's one absolute truth, Bianca. You are the truest, brightest light. I'm sorry I hurt you.
Derek: You son of a -- you're dead.
>> On the next “All My Children” –
Babe: Show yourself, you sicko! Bring it on, you coward!
Josh: Babe, Babe, what are you doing?
Babe: You go after Dani, bring it on to me!
Ryan: I’m not ready for another funeral, Kendall.
Kendall: I’m not going anywhere. I’m not leaving.
Zoe: Danielle, she was so young.
Derek: “Was”? Why do you say “was”? What do you know?
