Man: Quiet on the set, please. This is "New Beginnings," show one. And in five --

[Music plays]

Man: Four, three, two, one.

[Applause]

Man: Welcome to "New Beginnings," with your host, Erica Kane!

Erica: Thank you. Thank you so much.

[Music stops]

Erica: And welcome. Welcome, everyone, to "New Beginnings," where we honor and celebrate the risk takers, those who are brave and daring enough to create new lives for themselves.

[Applause]

Greenlee: That's us, sister.

Kendall: I'm your baby buggy the next nine months.

Erica: Is there anyone here in our studio audience who would like to share their new beginning with us?

Zach: Not every new beginning should be celebrated.

Kendall: Oh, my God. Zach, Zach, stop. Zach, stop, please!

Zach: Greenlee's still planning on raising Ryan's child, after Kendall gives birth to it.

[Audience gasps]

Erica: Is that true, Kendall? Are you having Ryan's baby?

Greenlee: Hey, wake up, sleeping surrogate.

[Kendall wakes up from her nightmare]

Kendall: Greenlee, we have to stop him.

Greenlee: Stop who?

Tad: Get out of the way. Stand over there. Ok, what's this? "Slater" --

Aidan: All right, two words -- "Kill Zach."

Tad: Well done.

Aidan: Well, I was always good at charades.

Tad: Man, I want to throttle him. No, that's not good enough. I want -- I want him to suffer. I want blood to come out of his eyes, his nose, his ears. I want his hair to hurt.

Aidan: And today's reason for hating Zach, apart from the usual?

Tad: Julia's missing. I went up to the attic. She's gone.

Aidan: Well, what, did she go back to Zach?

Tad: I don't know, maybe.

Aidan: Well, would she cut out? To work the case by herself?

Tad: Either that or she doesn't trust me.

Aidan: You didn't give her a reason not to, did you?

Tad: You mean apart from the fact that I failed to mention that the woman that could very possibly save her life is my ex-wife?

Di: J.R., shh.

J.R.: Babe, wake up.

Babe: What? Oh, baby. My angel boy. You're safe and as snug as a bug in a rug, aren't you?

J.R.: All right, Babe, give Little A a break. Go brush your teeth, give his grandma some Q time with him.

Babe: Angel's all yours, Dixie. And I'll go wash up.

Di: Thank God for you, Babe. You saved that boy's life.

Zach: Nap time's over. You got work to do.

Erica: Ok, people, countdown till air. Prepare to make magic!

Man: Let's go!

Second man: Whoo! Whoo-hoo!

Erica: Ok.

Val: Erica, listen --

Erica: Yes?

Val: Josh wants you to know that he is on it.

Erica: Wonderful, Val. What? What is he on?

Val: Oh. Uh, right, yeah. The edited tapes of your New York remote are out there somewhere lost in transit, and they may not make it by airtime.

Erica: Ok. Do we have the master tapes?

Val: Yes, but they're unedited.

Erica: Ok, then you find Tucker, you send him to edit and then to sweetening. Have him take the AD and the noted script. "Erica Kane Takes Manhattan" will make it to air. Hi! Oh.

Jack: You are the top, do you know that?

Erica: Oh, Jack, what if I do this and I fall flat on my new beginning?

Ryan: How am I going to do this? How am I going to tell him that we were all wrong? That he's not bad, he's not twisted, all the craziness wasn't his fault. How am I going to look my brother in the eye and tell him surgery can save him if it doesn't kill him?

Ryan: Hockett. Hockett? Hey. Hey, hey, hey, can you hear me?

Jonathan: Ryan, is that you?

Ryan: Yeah. Yeah, it's me. It's Ry.

Jonathan: Get out. Get out of here. You got to go. You got to get out of here. Right now, you got to go. You're not safe here!

Erin: Jonathan, it's ok.

Jonathan: You're not safe here. You got to go.

Erin: It's ok, it's just me and Ryan, ok?

Jonathan: I know who you are.

Erin: We love you. We're going to take care of you.

Jonathan: You got to go before I kill you! Listen, you got to go. You got to go. Ok? One brother safe and blind, one brother left behind, one brother on the run, three brothers equal none. I can't save you. You got to go save yourself. Please, get out of here. Please!

Ryan: I'm not going to walk away on my kid brother. I'm not going to leave you.

Jonathan: Please --

Ryan: Not now, not ever again.

Jonathan: The ticking -- the ticking's so much worse. The ticking's so much worse. The monkeys -- my monkey with the cymbal crashing -- Ryan, you got to go!

Ryan: We want to talk to you about that. We want to talk to you about the ticking inside your head.

Jonathan: The coffin!

Ryan: What you're about --

Jonathan: The coffin! The -- Edmund Grey's funeral! The coffin! The coffin!

Ryan: Shh, shh, shh --

Jonathan: No, you go to -- no, Greenlee's there! Greenlee's there, Ryan! I set the timer! I'm so sorry! I set the timer, Ryan! I set the timer! You got to go! You love Greenlee! You got to go get her! You got to go save her!

Greenlee: Kill me already. Stop the slow-drip torture.

Kendall: Well, if you were going to avoid the fact that I freaked out over my little Zach dream, then I am going to sip my coffee in front of you. Go pour yourself some decaf.

Greenlee: You know what today is. I can't eat or drink anything until the egg harvest.

Kendall: Ok, well, we might not even be having an egg harvest if Zach runs and tells my mother about this.

Greenlee: Sorry, jitterbug, but caffeine is not your friend.

Kendall: I need this. I need this to get away that nasty taste that dream left me.

Greenlee: They're called dreams, Kendall. Not reals, dreams.

Kendall: Ok, you're forgetting my husband. Zach is not an average guy. All he has to do is twitch and weird stuff happens. You saw how down he was on the whole --

Greenlee: And you stood up to him. You defended us. Today he's probably twitching and making weird stuff happen for Julia Santos.

Kendall: Julia. Yeah, well, Zach is very excellent at multitasking. Julia may take up most of his time, but I, his wife, plan on bearing a child he doesn't think should exist.

Greenlee: Again, so what? Zach’s not the pregnancy police. He has nothing to say about it.

Kendall: Oh, he'll have tons to say about it, and to tons of people. And actually, we need to -- we need to get over there now. He's going to go -- he's going to go where mom works, and we have to stop him. We have to head him off and keep his mouth shut, and we have to do it right now before you hatch.

Zach: I hope you're ready for a special assignment.

Babe: You grab me like that again, I will drop you like a sack of doorknobs.

Zach: I need you to do a job for me.

Babe: I gave you Di. She's right in there. But you know what? You call her Dixie. My job is done.

Zach: So you don't care what I dig up on the ex-Mrs. Martin?

Babe: Of course, I care, but right now I have more important worries on my mind -- like my little boy in there.

Zach: I know, and I saw. You and J.R. and the baby -- that was a -- it was a nice family moment. And I bet it would it would have been a nicer moment if J.R.’s mom hadn't been in the picture.

Babe: On what planet is any of that your business? You're wasting my time.

Zach: I'm making a point. I don't give handouts. If you want to bury Dixie, you're going to have to get your hands dirty.

Di: He's a miracle, a gift from God. So are you, J.R. You both mean so much to me. I am down-on-my-knees grateful, blessed beyond anything I could ever hope for. I think I'd die if I had to let you go.

J.R.: It'll never happen.

Di: It happens. It could happen any second.

J.R.: We're safe. Our family -- you, me, Little A.

Di: And Babe is this child's mother. And I -- no matter what you think of her, she is -- she's earned my gratitude. She saved more than one life yesterday. I'll never forget that.

Babe: What do you need now?

Zach: Dixie wrote a very important letter. And I think it's hidden in the Chandler Mansion, so I need you to find it and bring it to me without reading it.

Babe: Are you for real? The Chandler Mansion is over 10,000 square feet, and that's not including the secret passages, the stables, or the gatehouse. So, if you divide that by the three hours of visitation I get with my son, supervised, I'm not finding that letter unless it's in Little A's dipey.

Zach: Mm-hmm. You found a way to keep Bianca from her baby for almost a year. I think you can figure it out.

Babe: What is your problem? My son almost died. He almost drowned. Give me a break here.

Zach: Babies, huh? I don't see the appeal.

Babe: Yeah, but good old Uncle Zach’s all in the name of Miranda when it suits him.

Zach: Miranda's different.

Babe: Love is the difference, Mr. Slater. I really hope you never have a day like I just did.

Zach: I need that letter. What's your answer?

Babe: Get your hands off me! What's your problem?

Tad: Yeah, so I may have made a small miscalculation.

Aidan: Right, you withheld critical information. And now there's a woman out there with a killer after her, like a moving target.

Tad: I didn't have a choice, Aidan. Not after Julia told me that, you know, Slater already had a bead on Di Kirby.

Aidan: You know, I thought that Slater hired us to find her as a fake-out.

Tad: He knew coming in that she was Dixie.

Aidan: Well, I guess there goes our 60-inch plasma TV screen we had our eyes on.

Tad: Har-har-har. Look, if Julia was the only factor in the equation, I would have done things differently. You know what, as a matter of fact, I might be this close to closing the sucker as it is.

Aidan: Yeah, but now we've got the Julia-Slater-Dixie-Kevin Sturgess connection. Am I leaving anyone out?

Tad: It's not a joke. Two days ago, he follows Dixie up to the falls, right? Snatches her, and then tries to trick her into telling him who's gunning for Julia.

Aidan: Which is why you wanted him in a chokehold.

Tad: Yes.

Aidan: Well, did he get anything?

Tad: Yeah, the shot from me and some lame story from Dixie. She told him something about, you know, a letter that names names if anything happens to her.

Aidan: Yeah, but you know why she did that. It's for her own life insurance.

Tad: Yeah.

Aidan: You know, this is a twist.

Tad: I don't know how much of a twist it is. She's a smart girl. She knows when to play a good bluff.

Aidan: I don't think so. The twist is why you're not tearing apart Pine Valley searching for this letter.

Erica: I mean, most people expect Erica Kane to be -- to be cool, calm, and collected, and fearless and in control.

Jack: She's all that, with maybe just a little smattering of self-doubt.

Erica: Oh, it's a lot more than a little smattering. I swear, I'm wigging, just like Reggie says. Really. I mean, how am I going to make my audience feel relaxed enough to embrace their New Beginnings, when all I want to do is I want to say to the staff, "Thank you so much for all your hard work, but this was a really bad idea"? And all I really want to do is I want to go home, I want to hide in my bed. Oh, Val -- Val, please make sure that the flowers and the gift bags are in the greenroom. And these are the cards. I personalized them for each of our studio guests. Make sure they get them, ok? And then I will stop by to say hello, and I will calm any preshow jitters.

Val: Ok.

Erica: Ok.

Jack: Well, don't look now, but you just showed yourself how to do it. Feel the fear, face the fear, and work right through it. Now, if you need any extra support, it can be provided at no extra charge.

Erica: From my loving husband?

Jack: You bet. And my loyal backup.

Erica: Oh, Lily, sweetheart, I'm so glad you're here. But shouldn't you be in school?

Lily: No, Dad wrote me a note today, because it's a very special day for you.

Jack: That's right.

Lily: This is your "New Beginnings" surviVal kit.

Erica: SurviVal kit? Oh, not a moment too soon. Oh.

Lily: That's to wrap yourself in when you're taking power naps between tapings.

Erica: Oh. And I see it's our favorite color.

Lily: And this is your teapot from home --

Erica: Oh!

Lily: With all your favorite herbal teas.

Jack: Yes, including the serenity blend. That was my idea.

Lily: And this is from Reggie.

Erica: Oh. "La Kane." And where is Reggie?

Jack: Well, he's at the crosstown basketball game. He's the starting forward, or he would be here with bells on, believe me.

Erica: Earplugs?

Lily: Yes, it's for if the applause from the audience gets too loud. I might have to borrow them.

Greenlee: Hi. Looks like we're just in time for the preshow gifting ceremony.

Erica: Oh, my goodness.

Kendall: I come bearing loot. Ok, here we go.

[Jack laughs]

Kendall: This is a Miranda original to hang in your dressing room.

Erica: Thank you.

Jack: Look at that -- obviously influenced by the French impressionists.

Kendall: And this is a poem written by Bianca entitled "L'esprit Inspiration."

Lily: Sam told me it means "Indomitable Spirit."

Jack: Well, that would be you.

Kendall: No, this would be you.

Erica: Oh.

Kendall: Here. Here we go.

Erica: Oh!

Kendall: Super host.

[Erica laughs]

Kendall: Able to charm millions with a single smile and boost ratings higher than the empire state building. But encouragement, inspiration, and love -- those are your true superpowers.

Greenlee: This is from me and Ryan. He was your biggest fan, and he would've cheered you on, told you how amazing you are, and kissed you on the cheek. You're amazing.

Erica: Thank you. This is -- well, I mean, this is just the best gift I could ever have, to have my family here with me. Thank you.

Val: Excuse me. Erica, Josh is on my line.

Erica: Oh, ok. I'll be right there, Val. Excuse me.

Kendall: Mm-hmm.

Lily: I'll put all this stuff in Erica's dressing room.

Jack: What do you say I give you a hand, and you and I will go get a little bite to eat. How would that be?

Kendall: Oh.

Jack: Come on, let's go.

Greenlee: Did Jack have to mention food? I'm starving.

Kendall: Ok, get your mind off of your stomach and keep your eyes peeled for Zach.

Greenlee: Well, what do we do when we see him, tackle him?

Kendall: Whatever it takes.

Greenlee: He's not getting between us and our baby.

Ryan: Greenlee's fine. She's safe. No, listen, nobody can hurt her -- not you, not me, not anymore.

Jonathan: Untie me, please. Please untie me. Please untie me. Please untie me! This is --

Erin: Shh.

Jonathan: Please untie me, Dad. Please untie me, Daddy. I'll be good. Please just stop the ticking. Please stop the ticking. Please stop the ticking. Untie me, please!

Ryan: Look, that's what we're here about. This is how we can help you. We're here about how we can help you.

Jonathan: How can you help me if you don't believe me, Ryan?

Ryan: All right, listen, listen. I'm sorry. Shh. The pain and the headaches -- they're all very real, Hockett.

Jonathan: You're going to leave me here. You're going to leave me here. You're going to leave me here. I hate you! I hate you! Untie me! Untie me!

Erin: Shh.

Jonathan: Don't you leave me here! Please let me go!

Ryan: Stop! Stop! I'm not going to leave you here, and I'm not going to untie you. We're going to help you. We're going to stop the pain. We're going to stop the voices. We're going to stop all of it. We're going to make you better. Nothing is going to explode inside of your head, because we're going to get it the hell out!

Zach: Excuse me. I didn't look where I was going.

Babe: What?

J.R.: What the hell was that all about?

Babe: I don't know. He was asking me weird questions about your mom, or who you used to -- he wanted to know all these things about Di Kirby.

J.R.: Mom, you knew Zach Slater from before you came back to us?

Di: No.

Babe: He was sure acting really freaky, like you were -- or Di Kirby, or whoever it was -- it's like you pushed his crazy buttons.

J.R.: Why was he messing with you, and what did he want?

Babe: It really didn't get that far. You showed up.

Di: Damn it, why can't he just let this go?

J.R.: Mom, is there something you want to share with us?

Di: No. Something I need to -- I want to forget. That name, Di Kirby. Dixie Martin is the only part of my life that matters.

Babe: So you have no idea what Zach wants?

Di: No, I don't have a clue, and I actually couldn't care less. Di Kirby doesn't exist anymore.

Tad: There is no letter. It was a trick. Dixie thought that Zach was a hit man, so she was just trying to get him to back off. Yeah, all right, look, maybe -- maybe she does know something, but it has nothing to do with Julia. It doesn't matter. What does is that we know Zach is a problem. And I wouldn't put anything past him. You know, if it came down to a tossup between his word and Dixie’s, I know who I'd vote for --

Aidan: Ok, all right, all right. Give me a chance to agree with you, at least. From what I heard, Dixie had a great heart, and she knew right from wrong. She wasn't the kind of girl that would put someone else's life on the line to save her own.

Tad: Wait, wait, wait. What do you mean, "had"? Why are you speaking in the past tense like she's not around? She's still the same person.

Aidan: Tad, people have been known to change.

Tad: Not like that. They don't just wake up one day and they've morphed into somebody you don't know.

Ryan: You have a tumor in your brain.

Erin: It's been there a long, long time.

Jonathan: Ticking, ticking, ticking, ticking --

Ryan: And we don't -- shh -- we don't know how it got there. But it could have been from Dad's beatings. All right? From when you were young. But the point is -- the point is -- is it grew. And it hurt you. And it's made you do things that you wouldn't -- you wouldn't normally have done.

Erin: The anti-psych meds made you worse.

Ryan: You're not bad, Jonathan. You're not evil.

Jonathan: I never said I was evil, I just said I was right. I want you to go fetch me a belt, boy, so I can give you something to cry about!

Erin: Jonathan, no, you are not Dad! All right, he is no part of you!

Ryan: The evil was in dad. The cruelty was in him.

Jonathan: Ah, I can smell you and Braden from here. You know, fathers live in their sons.

Ryan: Not if I cut them out. Look, you can be you again, Hockett. You can. Shh. I want you to do something for me, ok? I want you to find a day. I want you to find a day -- we had them. We had good days. We had "blue sky" days. I want you to think about one. And I want you to remember what that was like. Ok? Remember. That's it. There was no pain and there was no fear. And you were good, you were good. And you were strong. And life was good because you are good. We can make you that way again.

Greenlee: It's close to harvest time. We got to get over to Dr. Madden's office. Come on.

Erica: You're not leaving?

Kendall: Oh, I'm -- I'm sorry, Mom, but we really have to go.

Erica: Well, what in the world could be more important than the premiere of my new show?

Greenlee: New product launch. We think you'll like it.

Kendall: We hope that you'll love it.

Erica: Well, if you do, I will.

Kendall: Mother, this -- this show is your baby. So I'm not going to wish you luck, I just want to wish you lots of love.

Erica: Ok.

Kendall: Ok?

Erica: Thank you.

Zach: Hi. I see we're all here for the same reason. To celebrate your new show and to hope you get a 40 share.

Erica: Zach, you shouldn't have.

Zach: Well, we're fellow travelers, all the way from Vegas to your very own sound stage.

Erica: Oh. Look, girls, look. This is very thoughtful of you, Zach. Thank you very much. This is -- actually, this reminds me of Las Vegas. It's very shiny.

Zach: Of course, there are some new beginnings that shouldn't be celebrated.

Kendall: Don't you dare, Zach! I swear to God, I'll tell my mother right now before she hears it from you.

Erica: Kendall, is there something you want to tell me?

Greenlee: It's nothing, Erica, really.

Kendall: Everyone will know sooner or later. I won't let Zach warp it into something ugly.

Val: Erica, Don needs to see you in the booth again to go over those cues.

Erica: Of course, of course. Look, I'll be right back.

Greenlee: What the hell was that? You tried to pull attitude last night and it didn't work, so give it up. Go back to rigging slots or watering down drinks or whatever you're doing when you're not meddling in other people's lives.

Zach: What am I missing here? If Kendall having Ryan's baby is such a wonderful idea, why don't you tell everybody? Why don't you celebrate? Why is it such an ugly little secret? Is it because deep down you know it's a bad idea?

Kendall: Since when did you grow a conscience?

Greenlee: Excuse us. We have an appointment.

Zach: Excuse me. Why are you rushing this? What are you afraid of? You going to wake up and see that this is not the right thing to do?

Greenlee: What are you afraid of, huh? That's what I want to know.

Zach: I'm afraid for your son or your daughter. Trying to bring a man back to life -- it's not going to happen. It can't be done. You want to bring a child into this world for all the wrong reasons, to live up to your expectations, to help you. You want another Ryan. There's a lot of things I don't know, but I do know this -- this child will fail. You guys -- I always knew you were selfish. I didn't know you were cruel.

Erica: Sheila, that is perfect. That is exactly the shade I wanted. Great, thank you. Hi.

Jack: Well, look at you -- mistress of your universe.

Erica: Oh, well, God knows, Jack, that I'm no stranger to TV, but you know, I just -- I get this bizarre feeling that this is going to be like something I have never done before.

Jack: Because you haven't. Let me take you back a few years to when Erica Kane was a teenager.

Erica: Uh --

Jack: Fame was your dream, you wanted to stand on that corner of Hollywood and vine and make the world notice you. Or at least your father -- make him admit that you were special. Because I'll tell you something, honey -- millions of fans can't be wrong.

Erica: But that Erica's gone. I mean, that Erica is grown up, and I just really have made peace with my past.

Jack: And here you are -- your own creation, your own discovery.

Erica: Hmm.

Jack: And on TV, no less, and not for the money or for the fame, but because you want to help people. You have made a world here where they can come and have hope and a fresh start.

Erica: It wasn't so long ago I thought had nothing, nothing at all -- no hope, no future. And here I am married to the man I love, and I have a new family, and I have a whole new purpose. And everybody deserves to have a chance to have the life they want.

Greenlee: I will love this child for who it is and where it came from. I'll remember the love that went into creating him or her.

Kendall: This child will grow up cherished and loved and strong.

Zach: Like his father, Ryan, or like his Uncle Jonathan?

Jonathan: I hurt people.

Erin: It isn't your fault, Jonathan. The doctors can help you now. Ryan and I can help you.

Ryan: We can fix this. Hockett, after the operation, it'll all be gone -- no more pain, no more visions, no more Braden and Dad screaming and telling you what to do.

Jonathan: Quiet. Quiet. Will it hurt?

Erin: You'll be asleep during the surgery.

Ryan: But I'm -- I'm not going to lie to you. There are risks. There is a chance that you might not wake up. Do you understand? Hockett, you might die.

Tad: I'm not going to go through this with you again. The great Dixie debate -- you know, is she or isn't she? You're going to drag me through this all over again, just so you can decide whether or not her heart is in the right place?

Aidan: Look, you've got the advantage. You knew her, not me.

Tad: Yeah, that's right. That's right, Aidan. I knew her. I know her now. I know my Dixie. I was in that room when she came face to face with Julia. I was listening to the sound of her voice. I was looking her in the eye. She wanted to be able to help Julia. It was killing her that she couldn't. She knows what it's like to want her life back. She feels for Julia. We both do. Now that we do have our lives back, I'd kind of like to keep it that way for a while, you know? She's back, I'm back, and if Dixie says she can't help Julia, then Dixie can't help Julia. Now, are we done?

Di: He is the sweetest thing.

[Little Adam babbles]

Di: I know.

Babe: He's just heaven on earth, that's all. Yes, you are. It's a car, it is.

Nurse: Mr. Chandler, Dr. Cortez signed your son's release. Sign here and your son is free to go home.

Babe: Are there any special instructions for him?

Nurse: I've printed them out here.

J.R.: I'll take those.

Nurse: All righty. Thank you.

Babe: You hear that, little man? Means you get to go home today. I guess I won't be seeing you till next week.

J.R.: Well, those are the rules. You have to live by them.

Di: Come on, J.R., You can bend a little. I mean, for crying out loud, she saved this boy's life.

J.R.: And cashed in on 16 more hours of visitation. I'm taking my son home. I'll see you next week. No social worker, no visitation.

Babe: Hey, mister man.

Little Adam: A, B, C, D --

Babe: D, E, F -- you're right. Who taught you that? I'll see you next week, ok?

[Little Adam babbles]

Babe: Mama loves you.

J.R.: Oh, it's so nice to see Little Adam in his own crib.

Di: Yeah, I just wish Babe could be here to see it.

J.R.: Can we not do Babe? Look, all I care about is you and my son. Can you let me have that?

Di: Ok, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Must've been -- I mean, I can't imagine almost losing your boy like that.

J.R.: Well, losing you or Little A -- I never, ever want that to happen again.

Di: That's my line. I guess we both know what it feels like to have everything riding on the line, but, J.R., one thing time has taught me, you -- you can't lock us up and keep us safe. That's your father's way. So -- I mean, he's so afraid of losing control, losing the ones he loves, and -- we've hurt you, all of us -- me, Tad, Adam, Babe.

J.R.: No, no, no more Babe. I'm done with that.

Di: And I'm done with Tad.

J.R.: You know, I don't know if it was the smell of the antiseptic at the hospital or the look on Little Adam’s face when he knew he was home. I don't know. But this is me butting out of your life. At least the Tad part.

Di: Whoa! All right. Who are you and what have you done with my son?

J.R.: Look, it's your deal who you want to see or date.

Di: Or whom I want to love?

J.R.: All right, don't bust my chops. I'm trying here.

Di: I know you are.

J.R.: I just want you to be happy. And if Tad's the one that can do that -- and I'm not saying that he is -- I'd be an ungrateful jerk to stand in your way.

Di: Well, you've given us your blessing. That is progress, J.R.

J.R.: Yeah.

Di: But, honey, the sad fact is I'm not -- I'm not sure it's going to work out between me and Tad. I mean, so much has changed. We're not the same people anymore.

J.R.: What has Tad pulled this time?

Aidan: Are you waiting for me to leave before you go over there?

Tad: Just shut up.

Aidan: Let me know when and if you find the letter.

Erica: So, Kendall, what was it you wanted to tell me?

Kendall: It's about babies and Ryan, and a way to keep his memory alive.

Zach: It's a new wing for the Miranda Center, with a special section dedicated to infants in Ryan's name.

Erica: Oh, my goodness. Well, Kendall, why didn't you want Zach to tell me?

Zach: She was afraid I would hog all the credit. It wasn't my idea, it was hers and Greenlee's.

Erica: Well, it's a wonderful idea. It's inspired. I wouldn't give Zach credit. Ryan was an amazing man, and this is just a very fitting tribute. And as Kendall says, it's a way to keep his memory alive.

Zach: In some of us more than others.

Ryan: Do you understand, Hockett? The surgery could -- could save your life, but there are risks. I mean, you could lose your -- you could lose your eyesight or -- or your speech. And there is a chance that you could die.

Erin: Jonathan, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. We didn't mean to scare you.

Jonathan: It's been in me so long, so much hate that I -- I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. You must hate me for everything I've done to you, both of you. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I hate me so much. I hate me -- hate me, hate me, hate me!

Ryan: I don't hate you, Hockett. I love you. You're my little brother, ok? Erin and I both -- we both love you, and we want to help you. We just want you back. We want you back.

Jonathan: Make them do it. Make them do it. Make them do it. Ryan, make them do it. I want to be good again.

Jack: Well, it's gone, I see -- that wild look in your eyes that says "Oh, no!"

Erica: Replaced by "Oh, you."

Jack: Hmm.

Erica: What did I ever do to deserve you?

Jack: I'll tell you exactly what you did. You made me your co-host for life. "The life and times of Erica Kane" -- who wouldn't want to be a part of that? Come here, you. So, how you doing?

Erica: I'm doing great. Bring it on. I am so ready.

Greenlee: Could you people please not jerk me around anymore right now? I'm fainting from hunger, I'm in hormone hell, and I need a private moment.

Kendall: You didn't tell.

Zach: It's your body, it's your decision.

Kendall: Yeah, but you were all over me last night telling me not to do it.

Zach: One thing. You're going to conceive this child, carry this child, give birth to this child, and love this child. And then give it up? Can you do to this little baby what your mom did to you?

Ryan: You're going to be ok. I'll -- I'll be here.

Erin: We'll both be here.

Ryan: Hey, you're going to be you again. You're going to be safe and happy again.

Jonathan: Who are you? What do you want?

Ryan: It's ok.

Jonathan: What do you want?

Ryan: Shh!

Jonathan: Who are you?

Ryan: Shh, shh, shh.

Jonathan: No, Ryan, don't let them take me! Ryan, don't let them hurt me! What do you want? What do you want?

Ryan: You're going to be my little brother --

Jonathan: Get away from me!

Ryan: We'll be here, we'll be waiting.

Jonathan: Ryan! Ryan, no!

Ryan: Goodbye.

Jonathan: Ryan? You did this to me, Ryan! You did this to me! I loved you, and you killed me, Ryan! Ryan! Ryan, I loved you, and you killed me!

Ryan: It'll be ok. He's going to be ok. We'll all be ok.

Di: J.R., you want to steer clear of that danger zone -- Mom good, Tad bad. I mean, it's -- I told you that day at the park, I'm not perfect, never was. And I'm so far away from who I was.

J.R.: What about Tad?

Di: I don't know. I want it to work, but it's nice to know I won't lose you if it does.

J.R.: Well, no matter what happens with Tad, just know that you have Little Adam and me, your family. And if you fall, we'll be your safety net.

Tad: All right. Letter, letter. Who's got the letter?

[Separately lurking around the Chandler Mansion’s secret passageways are Babe, Tad, and Julia.]

>> On the next "All My Children" --

Erica: Thank you so much.
